A.J. Terrell Jr. Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Falcons vs Buccaneers game on Thursday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 18, 2025
Solid showing Sunday
Terrell recorded six tackles (five solo) and two passes defensed during Sunday's 30-27 overtime loss versus the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Carolina quarterback Bryce Young threw for a franchise record 448 yards in Week 11, but Terrell seemed to mostly hold his own, and he still hasn't had a touchdown thrown against him this season. His prowess in coverage means opposing offenses often avoid throwing to his side of the field, keeping him from IDP relevancy in most formats.
Oct 11, 2025
Good to go against Buffalo
Terrell (hamstring) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's game against the Bills, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell missed the Falcons' last two games due to a hamstring injury he sustained against the Vikings in Week 2. He received an extra week to rest and rehab from his injury thanks to the Falcons' Week 5 bye, and that extra time has enabled the 2020 first-rounder to suit up for Monday's home tilt against Buffalo. Terrell should reclaim his starting spot at outside corner opposite Mike Hughes, which will revert Dee Alford to a rotational role.
Oct 9, 2025
Limited practice Thursday
Terrell (hamstring) was a limited participant at practice Thursday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell was sidelined for each of the team's last two contests due to a hamstring injury before Atlanta was idle in Week 5. The cornerback will now have two more chances to log a full practice prior to Monday night's contest against Buffalo.
Sep 26, 2025
Out for Week 4
Terrell (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Commanders, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
The Clemson product will miss his second consecutive game after sustaining a hamstring injury in Atlanta's Week 2 win over the Vikings. Terrell will get extra time to rest by sitting out in Week 4, as the Falcons have a Week 5 bye. Expect Natrone Brooks and Clark Phillips to see increased reps as outside corners while Terrell is sidelined Sunday.
Sep 24, 2025
Still not practicing
Terrell (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Tori McElhaney of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2 against Minnesota and didn't practice at all last week before missing this past Sunday's matchup versus Carolina. Coach Raheem Morris said last week that Terrell is considered "week-to-week," so he's iffy, at best, for this coming Sunday's game against Washington. If he's unable to play again, Dee Alford would likely get another start at cornerback.
Sep 19, 2025
Sidelined in Week 3
Head coach Raheem Morris told reporters Friday that Terrell (hamstring) won't play in Sunday's matchup against the Panthers, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell sustained a hamstring injury in Atlanta's Week 2 win over the Vikings and was unable to practice throughout the week, so it's no surprise that he'll be unavailable Sunday. The Clemson product has established himself as of the NFL's best cornerbacks, recording 66 total tackles and six passes defended, including two interceptions, across 17 games in 2024. In his stead, Dee Alford is expected to start opposite Mike Hughes as part of the Falcons' top outside corner duo.
Sep 17, 2025
Considered week-to-week
Terrell (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Coach Raheem Morris added that Terrell is considered week-to-week, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, so it sounds like the Falcons are going to be without their top cornerback against the Tetairoa McMillan and the Panthers in Week 3. Terrell suffered the injury in last Sunday night's win over the Vikings.
Sep 14, 2025
Done for night
Terrell (hamstring) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday night's game against Minnesota, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell suffered a hamstring injury in the first half, and he will now be forced to sit out the rest of Sunday Night Football. In his place, Natrone Brooks and Dee Alford have seen an increase in snaps in the secondary.
Sep 14, 2025
Dealing with hamstring injury
Terrell (hamstring) is questionable to return to Sunday night's contest against the Vikings, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell pulled up lame with an apparent hamstring injury in the second quarter, and it's now unclear if he'll be able to return to action in Week 2. In his absence, Natrone Brooks and Dee Alford stand to see an increase in workload at cornerback.
Jan 7, 2025
Another productive year
Terrell finished the 2024 campaign with 66 tackles (50 solo) and six pass breakups, including two interceptions, in 17 games.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-year pro also played on more than 90 percent of the defensive snaps in 16 of 17 contests. Terrell, who signed a four-year, $81-million extension with the Falcons in August, has recorded at least 45 stops and six pass breakups in all five of his seasons.
Nov 4, 2024
Nine tackles in Week 9
Terrell finished Sunday's 27-21 win over Dallas with nine tackles (five solo).
ANALYSIS
Terrell was the third-leading tackler for the Falcons on Sunday behind Kaden Elliss (13) and Nate Landman (10). Terrell played in 95 of the Falcons' defensive snaps, and he has played at least 60 snaps on defense in seven of nine regular-season games this year. For the season, Terrell has logged 49 tackles (39 solo), four pass breakups and two interceptions.
Oct 28, 2024
Grabs another pick vs. Bucs
Terrell recorded seven total tackles (six solo) and one interception in Sunday's 31-26 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
The Clemson product finished tied as the Falcons' second-leading tackler Sunday, trailing only Kaden Elliss' 11-stop effort. Terrell was also one of two Falcons to pick off Baker Mayfield in Week 8, intercepting a pass in the fourth quarter to help Atlanta maintain a two-score lead. The 26-year-old corner is expected to continue making plays for the Falcons' defense in Week 9, when the Cowboys come to Atlanta.
Oct 14, 2024
Registers first pickoff of campaign
Terrell posted three tackles (two solo) and an interception in Sunday's 38-20 Week 6 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Terrell finished with a season-low tackle total, but he also came up with a big pickoff. With the Falcons up eight points early in the fourth quarter, Terrell intercepted Andy Dalton after Carolina had advanced to Atlanta's 32 yard line. It was Terrell's first interception since he tallied three in the 2021 campaign.
Aug 22, 2024
Inks four-year extension
Terrell agreed to a four-year, $81 million contract extension with the Falcons on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The deal includes $65.8 million guaranteed, and makes Terrell the second-highest paid corner on a per-year basis at $20.25 million behind Packers' Jaire Alexander, per Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com. Terrell, who the Falcons took 16th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, had his best season in 2021, when he earned Second-Team All-Pro honors after registering 81 tackles (52 solo), including 1.0 sacks, 16 passes defended, three interceptions and one forced fumble across 16 regular-season games. He hasn't recorded an interception over the last two seasons, but he has been one of the most effective corners in the league since being drafted. Terrell is part of an Atlanta defense that includes All-Pro safeties Jessie Bates and Justin Simmons, as well as four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Matthew Judon.
Jan 17, 2024
Forces zero turnovers in 2023
Terrell finished 2023 with 45 tackles (34 solo) and 11 pass defenses in 17 appearances.
ANALYSIS
Terrell is considered one of the best cover cornerbacks in the league, but he's struggled to generate production the last two seasons, especially in the playmaking department. After totaling four interceptions and four forced fumbles across his first two NFL seasons, the 2020 first-round pick has recorded just one fumble recovery over the last two campaigns. As long as that trend continues, Terrell is a better player in real life than fantasy. Atlanta exercised the fifth-year team option for 2024 on Terrell's rookie deal, so he'll be back next season, though he's slated to be an unrestricted free agent after that.
Dec 9, 2023
Active for Sunday
Terrell cleared concussion protocol Saturday and will play Sunday against the Buccaneers, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell suffered a concussion last week against the Jets in the first quarter, but has gone through a quick recovery and should return to his high workload Week 14 against the Buccaneers. The shutdown corner hasn't been tested too much this season, and as a result, has just 32 tackles and zero interceptions.
Dec 8, 2023
Questionable for Sunday
Terrell (concussion) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
The All-Pro cornerback seems to be trending in the right direction to play this weekend, as he went from logging a limited practice session Thursday to a full workload Friday. Nonetheless, Terrell must clear concussion protocol in order to suit up Sunday, and if he's unable to do so, Dee Alford and Clark Phillips would likely see more work in the Falcons' secondary.
Dec 6, 2023
Returns to practice
Terrell (concussion) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice session, Amna Subhan of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell sustained a concussion early in Sunday's 13-8 win over the Jets. He was unable to return to the game and registered one tackle while playing three defensive snaps. Terrell will continue to progress through the league's five-step concussion protocol ahead of Week 14 against the Buccaneers.
Dec 3, 2023
Out Sunday
Terrell has a concussion and is out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Jets, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The cornerback took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Jets running back Breece Hall earlier in the first half. Terrell made one tackle before exiting. Dee Alford is the next man up on the depth chart.
Dec 3, 2023
Questionable to return Sunday
Terrell is questionable to return Sunday against the Jets after suffering a possible head injury, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The cornerback took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Jets running back Breece Hall, fell to the field and had to be helped by trainers. Terrell did manage to walk off under his own power. The fourth-year pro made a tackle before exiting.
Apr 30, 2023
Receives fifth-year option
Atlanta picked up the fifth-year option on Terrell's rookie contract Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell is now locked into Atlanta's secondary through the 2024 campaign. The 2020 first-round pick has been the Falcons' top cornerback since joining the team, posting 202 tackles, 32 pass defenses, four interceptions, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery over his first three NFL campaigns.
Nov 20, 2022
Will return to action in Week 11
Terrell (hamstring) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Bears, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell will return to action against Chicago after missing Atlanta's previous three games due to a hamstring issue. The 2020 first-round pick should reclaim his usual starting spot in the Falcons' secondary. Across seven appearances, Terrell has totaled 29 tackles, five pass defenses and one fumble recovery.
Nov 18, 2022
Questionable for Week 11
Terrell (hamstring) is considered questionable to play Sunday versus the Bears, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell returned to practice this week, opening the door for his potential return to the field after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury. He appears to have a realistic shot at being active for Week 11, but his status is worth monitoring as Sunday approaches. Rashad Fenton and Isaiah Oliver would be set for increased roles once again versus Chicago if Terrell can't go.
Nov 16, 2022
Logs limited practice Wednesday
Terrell (hamstring) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Terrell has missed three consecutive contests due to a hamstring injury, but he's returned to practice, albeit in a limited fashion, to start Week 11 prep. The cornerback will likely have to log at least one full participation to be cleared for Sunday's matchup against the Bears.
Nov 9, 2022
Won't play Thursday
Terrell (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's matchup against Carolina, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell will miss a third straight game to a hamstring injury. Cornell Armstrong and Darren Hall were Atlanta's top two corners in Week 9, while Isaiah Oliver and Dee Alford garnered secondary roles, but Rashad Fenton, who was traded by the Chiefs to the Falcons ahead of the deadline, could also carve out a role with his new team before too long.
Nov 7, 2022
Still dealing with hamstring issue
Terrell (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report, per Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Terrell has missed back-to-back games due to a hamstring injury and continues to deal with the issue to start Week 10 prep. Atlanta's top cornerback will have two more opportunities to practice before the team needs to make a decision on his status for Thursday's matchup against Carolina.
Nov 4, 2022
Ruled out for Week 9
Terrell (hamstring) has been ruled out for the Falcons' Week 9 contest against the Chargers, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell will miss a second game in a row this week after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 7 versus the Bengals. With the cornerback unavailable, Rashad Fenton and Isaiah Oliver will likely step into more significant roles again Sunday against Los Angeles.
Nov 2, 2022
Non-participant Wednesday
Terrell (hamstring) was a non-participant during Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Terrell was ruled out for Week 8 due to a hamstring injury he picked up a week prior and will remain sidelined to start Week 9 prep. The Falcons' top cornerback will have two more opportunities to practice before the team needs to make a decision on his availability for Sunday's matchup against the Chargers.
Oct 28, 2022
Ruled out for Week 8
Terrell (hamstring) won't play Sunday against the Panthers, Michael Rothstein of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell will sit out after injuring his hamstring in the Week 7 loss to Cincinnati. The cornerback's absence could create more opportunities for Carolina's No. 1 wide receiver DJ Moore against a Falcons secondary that lacks depth. Terrell will shift his focus on healing up for Atlanta's Week 9 game against the Chargers.
Oct 26, 2022
Unavailable for practice
Terrell (hamstring) won't be available practice Wednesday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell suffered a hamstring injury in Week 7 versus the Bengals and has been determined to be week-to-week by head coach Arthur Smith. He'll likely have to return to practice in some form Thursday to have a shot at playing Sunday against the Panthers. If Terrell can't go in the contest, Dee Alford (hamstring) and Darren Hall could step into more significant roles.
Oct 24, 2022
Considered week-to-week
Coach Arthur Smith labeled Terrell (hamstring) week-to-week, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell's hamstring injury appears to be more severe than that of fellow Falcons cornerback Dee Alford, whom Smith termed day-to-day. Both cornerbacks were injured in Atlanta's 35-17 loss to Cincinnati. If Terrell can't play against the Panthers in Week 8, that would open up more space for Carolina's No. 1 receiver DJ Moore.
Oct 23, 2022
Will not return
Terrell (hamstring) will not return Sunday against the Bengals, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell was helped off the field by trainers after suffering the injury to his right leg. In his absence, Darren Hall and Cornell Armstrong are manning the corner spots.
Oct 20, 2022
Back in full Thursday
Terrell (thigh) was listed as a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Terrell was forced out of the Falcons' 28-14 win over the 49ers on Sunday with an apparent thigh injury, but his full activity level during Thursday's session indicates that the issue is no longer a concern. The 24-year-old cornerback recorded 28 tackles, five passes defensed and one fumble recovery through Atlanta's first six games, but he'll face the near-impossible task of covering Cincinnati receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins on Sunday.
Oct 16, 2022
Exits with injury
Terrell (thigh) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the 49ers, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell recorded four tackles before picking up a thigh injury at some point Sunday. The 2020 first-round pick totaled 24 tackles and four passes defended over the first five games of the season, and his absence will likely leave Dee Alford to step into an every-down role alongside fellow cornerback Casey Hayward.
Sep 19, 2022
Leads team with nine tackles
Terrell notched nine tackles (six solo) and a pass deflection in Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
The lockdown cornerback notched a season-high nine tackles, giving him 14 total across two games. Terrell also forced a field goal by deflecting a third-down pass intended for Copper Kupp at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The 2020 first-round pick is one of Atlanta's most disruptive defenders, but unless he can maintain his high-tackle volume, he'll likely be a risky IDP option on a weekly basis.
Aug 14, 2022
Plays 10 snaps in preseason opener
Terrell recorded one tackle across 10 defensive snaps during Friday's preseason opener against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Terrell, along with the majority of the defensive starters, played just one drive, which ultimately ended in a Lions touchdown. Nevertheless, the 2020 first-round pick is coming off back-to-back strong campaigns and figures to be a top-tier IDP option at cornerback in 2022. Atlanta's secondary as a whole will look to improve upon last year's performance after signing veteran cornerback Casey Hayward in free agency.
Jan 14, 2022
Six tackles in season finale
Terrell registered six tackles (four solo) and one pass deflection during Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Terrell finished his second season in the league with 81 tackles, three interceptions, one forced fumble and one sack across 16 appearances. The 2020 first-round pick will still be under his rookie contract through the 2023 season and is expected to be one of Atlanta's defensive cornerstones until then. His consistent tackling numbers to start his career -- 155 stops in 30 games -- makes him a high-floor IDP option next year, but he also displayed immense playmaking upside during the 2021 campaign, which should increase his fantasy value even more.
Jan 4, 2022
All-around performance in loss
Terrell notched seven tackles (six solo), one pass deflection, one interception and one sack during Sunday's loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Terrell picked off his third pass of the season and registered his first sack of his career. The 2020 first-round pick has displayed immense upside in his second season in the league, but his consistent tackling numbers (75 stops in 15 games) makes him a high-floor option in deeper IDP leagues.
Nov 25, 2021
Picks off first pass of season
Terrell notched nine tackles (five solo) and one interception during Thursday's 25-0 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Terrell had his best performance of the season Thursday. The 23-year-old notched a season-high nine tackles and recorded his first interception of the year. Since the Falcons' Week 6 bye, Terrell has registered 30 tackles, five pass deflections and one interception. If he can maintain this type of production, then he will likely remain a solid IDP option in deeper formats.
Oct 29, 2021
Expects to play Sunday
Terrell (concussion) was not listed on the Falcons' injury report Friday and is expected to play Sunday against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Terrell logged full practices Thursday and Friday, as he appears on track to play in Week 8. The cornerback suffered his second concussion in the last two months and it seems that he'll only miss one game with this second concussion. Although it's unclear if he's cleared concussion protocols yet, Terrell should be able to play Sunday against the Panthers.
Oct 28, 2021
Practices fully Thursday
Terrell (concussion) was a full practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Terrell suffered his second concussion of the last two months Week 6 against the Dolphins, but he may be able to return after missing only one game. The 2020 first-round pick worked with no limitations Thursday, though it's unclear if he's fully cleared the concussion protocol.
Oct 27, 2021
Limited practice Wednesday
Terrell (concussion) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The cornerback suffered his second concussion in two months and will have to clear concussion protocol before being able to play. If he can't play in Week 8 against the Panthers, Darren Hall will be expected to play a larger role in the secondary.
Oct 24, 2021
Ruled out Sunday
Terrell (neck) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Panthers, according to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Terrell was initially diagnosed with a head injury, but after further tests, he was ruled out due to a neck problem. The next days will be key to determine if he will be able to return next Sunday against the Saints.
Oct 24, 2021
Being evaluated
Terrell (head) is being evaluated for a possible head injury, according to Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site.
ANALYSIS
Terrell is being evaluated but no further has been given about the ailment -- though head injuries are something that causes concern league-wide and the Falcons might be cautious upon Terrell's return. If he can't go, then T.J. Green or Darren Hall would be in line to see more snaps in the secondary.
Oct 1, 2021
Good to go
Terrell (concussion) is absent from the Falcons' final injury report ahead of Sunday's game against Washington, Scott Bair of the team's official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell practiced fully all week. He is returning from a concussion sustained during Week 2. The 23-year-old logged 65 defensive snaps in Week 1 and recorded seven tackles in the contest
Oct 1, 2021
Not listed on injury report
Terrell (concussion) was a full participant in Friday's practice and is not listed on the injury report ahead of Sunday's matchup with Washington, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell suffered a concussion in Week 2 and was unable to suit up in Week 3. However, the 23-year-old cornerback has logged a full week of practice and appears ready to return to action against Washington in Week 4. Terrell played 65 defensive snaps and recorded seven tackles during Week 1 -- his only healthy game this season.
Sep 29, 2021
Full participant in practice
Terrell (concussion) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, although he is still in concussion protocols.
ANALYSIS
Terrell suffered his concussion in the Falcons' Week 2 loss to Tampa Bay and was unable to play in Week 3. The cornerback managed to return to his first full practice in over a week Wednesday and he could be made available for Week 4 if he passes through the league's concussion protocols quickly. Expect T.J. Green to see extended snaps Sunday against Washington if Terrell can't play.
Sep 27, 2021
Remains in concussion protocol
Coach Arthur Smith said Monday that Terrell is still in concussion protocol, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell was diagnosed with a concussion after sustaining a head injury in the third quarter of Week 2. He was unable to suit for for Week 3, and now, his status for Week 4 is in jeopardy. T.J. Green stepped in as the starting corner opposite of Fabian Moreau and registered eight tackles against the Giants. If Terrell is unable to clear protocols, Green will likely draw the start again in Week 4
Sep 24, 2021
Not playing Sunday
Terrell (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants, according to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Terrell played 70 percent of the defensive snaps in Week 2 against the Buccaneers before departing the contest in the third quarter, and he wasn't able to recover in time to feature this weekend. His next chance to play will be in Week 4 against Washington, but his availability will depend on whether he's cleared by a doctor and whether he can log a few practices before that game.
Sep 19, 2021
Diagnosed with concussion
Terrell has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers with a concussion, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell racked up two tackles and two pass defenses prior to sustaining his injury Sunday, and he'll enter the league's concussion protocol ahead of the team's Week 3 matchup against the Giants. T.J. Green is in line to take on a larger role while the 22-year-old is out.
Sep 19, 2021
Evaluated for head injury
Terrell is being evaluated for a head injury after exiting Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell went down in the third quarter of Sunday's contest, and his status likely depends on whether he's dealing with a concussion. T.J. Green should see increased playing time while the 2020 first-rounder is sidelined.
Jan 8, 2021
Closes strong rookie campaign
Terrell, who collected two tackles and a pass deflection during Atlanta's 44-27 Week 17 loss to the Buccaneers, ended the 2020 season with 74 tackles, seven pass deflections, three forced fumbles and an interception.
ANALYSIS
Terrell surrendered six touchdowns and a passer rating of 109.6 over 106 coverage targets this season, but he provided value in other areas of his game. The rookie's three forced fumbles ranked second on the team behind only Foyesade Oluokun, while his seven pass breakups represented a high for among Falcons defenders this season. Terrell started all 14 games he appeared in after Atlanta selected him 16th overall in last April's draft. As a whole, the Falcons defense aims to improve from a 32nd-place finish against the pass in 2020.
Dec 30, 2020
Drops potential game-icing INT
Terrell registered one tackle and one pass deflection during Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
With Kansas City trailing 14-10 at the 2:07 mark of the fourth quarter, Terrell had a pristine opportunity to intercept Patrick Mahomes for a potential game-clinching interception. Terrell got both hands on the ball as he fell backward in the end zone, but the ball fell incomplete. The subsequent play, Mahomes would deliver a 25-yard go-ahead touchdown strike to Demarcus Robinson. Atlanta drops to a record of 2-8 in one-possession games this season, having suffered four straight defeats by five points or fewer.
Oct 19, 2020
Nabs first NFL interception
Terrell collected his first career interception along with a team-high seven tackles during Sunday's 40-23 win against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The first-round rookie had been a full-time contributor in his first three appearances of the season entering Sunday, playing at least 98 percent of the defensive snaps Weeks 1, 2 and 5. Results hadn't translated in the early going, as Terrell allowed 11 of 12 targets thrown his way to go for completions, surrendering 129 yards and a touchdown on those plays. Sunday he notched his first NFL takeaway, as the Falcons intercepted Kirk Cousins on three occasions. Terrell has missed two games this season while on the reserve-COVID-19 list, but now that he's been able to string together a pair of appearances, perhaps the rookie will settle into a groove under interim head coach Raheem Morris.
Oct 8, 2020
Activated from COVID-19 list
Terrell has been activated from the Falcons' reserve/COVID-19 list.
ANALYSIS
Terrell recorded 11 tackles in his first two NFL games before being placed on the list. The No. 16 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft figures to start at cornerback for the Falcons opposite Isaiah Oliver in his return to action Sunday against the Panthers.
Oct 7, 2020
Back at team facilities
Terrell (illness) is present at Atlanta's facilities for team meetings Wednesday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN,com reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell still has to clear some additional protocols and officially come off the reserve/COVID-19 list, but it looks as though he has a chance to be available as early as Sunday's game against the Panthers. The rookie first-round pick has missed back-to-back contests since testing positive for COVID-19 on Sept. 26.
Oct 5, 2020
Won't suit up for MNF
Terrell (reserve/COVID-19 list) will not be active for Monday night's game against the Packers, Jason Butt of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2020 No. 16 overall draft pick has remained sidelined since first testing positive for COVID-19 on Sept. 26, and he'll now miss his second consecutive outing. Atlanta will also be without veteran cornerback Darqueze Dennard for a matchup against Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay, leaving Kendall Sheffield, Isaiah Oliver and Blidi Wreh-Wilson as the top three available CBs for the Falcons' bottom-three pass defense (350.3 yards allowed per game).
Sep 26, 2020
Tests positive for COVID-19
Terrell has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list after his test from Friday came back positive, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
This explains Terrell's absence from Saturday's walkthrough. He becomes the first NFL player to miss a game because of COVID-19. He was on the field for all 82 defensive snaps in last week's loss to the Cowboys, so the team will have to look at some other options in the secondary as a result.
Sep 11, 2020
Ready for NFL debut
Terrell (hamstring) will play in Sunday's game versus the Seahawks, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell was limited in practice Thursday and Friday, but there's no concern about his availability for Sunday's matchup. The rookie first-rounder draws a difficult NFL debut with Russell Wilson under center, as Terrell will be responsible for covering either Tyler Lockett or DK Metcalf.
Sep 10, 2020
Logs limited practice
Terrell was limited in Thursday's practice due to a hamstring injury, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Terrell wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, so he may have sustained his hamstring injury during Thursday's session. The rookie first-round pick looks primed to start against Seattle on Sunday, if healthy, so his participation in Friday's practice will be worth monitoring.
Aug 25, 2020
Quieting skeptics in camp
Terrell is "looking and playing like a No. 1 corner" in training camp, Matthew Tabeek of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Results certainly have potential to change once the bright lights come on Week 1, but Terrell is so far bringing a newfound confidence to the Falcons' cornerback group. He did struggle mightily in coverage against Ja'Marr Chase during Clemson's national title loss to LSU in January, but otherwise Terrell helped lead the Tigers to a 29-1 record across two years as a starter, while establishing himself as one of the premier defensive backs in the nation. Terrell must, of course, prove his abilities during the regular season for Atlanta's first-round investment to become a profitable one, but it is at least encouraging that he is holding his own against receivers of Julio Jones' and Calvin Ridley's caliber in practice.

Inks rookie contract
Terrell signed his four-year, $14.31 million rookie contract with the Falcons on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The first-round draft choice became the final member of Atlanta's 2020 draft class to sign, joining five fellow Falcons rookies by inking a deal that includes $7.96 million in signing bonus cash. Terrell is expected to immediately enter into a starting role alongside sophomore cornerbacks Isaiah Oliver and Kendall Sheffield, providing Atlanta with one of the more youthful secondaries in all the NFL. An abbreviated training camp certainly will not help Terrell acclimate in the early going, but he and the rest of Atlanta's secondary is benefited by the fact that there isn't an inter-divisional matchup against Drew Brees or Tom Brady until Week 11.
