Bo Melton Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Vikings vs Packers game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 17, 2025
Limited to one offensive snap
Melton had one carry for 17 yards in Sunday's 27-20 victory over the Giants. He also returned two kicks for 37 yards in the game.
ANALYSIS
The wideout-turned-cornerback-turned-wideout got 26 snaps on the offensive side of the ball with the Packers in a pinch in Week 10, and although he had the long run Sunday it was the only snap he got in offense in Week 11. As such, it seems likely he will continue focusing on defense -- and special teams -- moving forward.

Sees work as receiver in Week 10
Melton played 26 of the Packers' 68 snaps on offense and recorded two catches for 28 yards on five targets in Monday's 10-7 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
After being converted from receiver to cornerback during the offseason, Melton was active for seven of the Packers' first eight games but had been deployed almost exclusively on special teams, logging just seven total snaps as a defender through the first nine weeks. However, perhaps due in part to being without Jayden Reed (collarbone) and Matthew Golden (shoulder) in Week 10 in addition to Romeo Doubs (chest) exiting the contest early, the Packers elected to break Melton in for his first reps on offense of 2025. Melton ended up finishing the night with a 38 percent offensive snap share, placing him behind Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks and Doubs but ahead of Malik Heath and Savion Williams in playing time at receiver. Head coach Matt LaFleur could shed more light on his plans for Melton moving forward when he addresses the media later this week, but the 26-year-old's usage on either offense or defense is likely to be highly dependent on the health of the Packers' receiver and cornerback groups.

Ready to return
Melton does not have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Melton suffered a shoulder injury in Week 1 and was unable to suit up in Week 2. However, he practiced all week, including a full session Friday and should be ready to take on Cleveland on Sunday.
Sep 10, 2025
Ruled out for Week 2
Melton (shoulder) has been ruled out for Thursday's contest against the Commanders, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Melton suffered a shoulder injury in Week 1 against the Lions, and he will now be forced to miss at least one week of action as a result. The cornerback will shift his focus to being ready to go for the team's Week 3 battle with the Browns on Sept. 21.
Sep 7, 2025
Exits with shoulder injury
Melton (shoulder) is questionable to return to Sunday's contest against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Melton sustained a shoulder injury in the second half of Sunday's game, which has now placed some doubt on his ability to return to the field. The 26-year-old was making his first official appearance as a cornerback with Green Bay, failing to record any stats before his departure.
Jul 23, 2025
Getting work at CB
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters Wednesday that Melton will mostly play at corner during training camp and the preseason, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Melton received reps at corner during minicamp in June. It appears the 2022 seventh-rounder will officially make the switch to defense, though he'll likely operate as a depth piece in the secondary behind Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine and Nate Hobbs. Melton appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Packers in 2024 and posted eight catches (on 17 targets) for 91 yards while adding eight carries for 54 yards.
Jun 10, 2025
Taking reps at cornerback
Melton was running cornerback drills during minicamp Tuesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Melton was fifth among Green Bay's pass catchers in snaps in 2024, but after the team added rookie first-rounder Matthew Golden, rookie third-rounder Savion Williams and veteran Mecole Hardman this offseason, Melton's place on the roster became uncertain. His 4.34 speed at least allows him to project as a special teams asset though, and the Packers may get creative to try to find a way to keep him on the 53-man roster. At least for now, there's an opening at cornerback thanks to the recent release of Jaire Alexander (knee).
Apr 29, 2025
Returning to Green Bay
Melton signed his exclusive rights free-agent tender with he Packers on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Melton is now officially set to return to Green Bay where he hauled in eight passes for 91 yards in 17 games last season in addition to carrying the ball eight times for 54 yards. He will likely compete for a spot as a depth receiver and can contribute as a returner and special teamer as well.
Jan 13, 2025
One catch against Eagles
Melton recorded one catch on three targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 22-10 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The Packers were down several key pass catchers, as Christian Watson (knee) was inactive, while Jayden Reed (shoulder) and Romeo Doubs (head) were also forced to exit the game. That forced Melton into a more significant role, and he earned multiple targets in a game for just the sixth time in 18 total contests for the campaign. Melton has had moments of productivity in his first two years as a pro, but if he sticks with the Packers as a restricted free agent, he'll likely remain relatively buried on the depth chart.
Jan 1, 2025
Targeted four times
Melton caught three of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 27-25 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Melton played just 16 of the Packers' 63 offensive snaps Sunday, yet he saw a season-high four targets in the contest. The 25-year-old saw increased usage in the passing game against Minnesota with fellow wideout Christian Watson (ankle) inactive. Nonetheless, Melton remains far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 18 matchup against the Bears.
Oct 21, 2024
Snap count slips
Melton had one reception for eight yards and one carry for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 24-22 victory over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Melton's snap count was boosted in both Weeks 5 and 6 with four of his fellow receivers either dealing with injuries or sitting out altogether, but he was on the field for only eight offensive snaps Sunday with Green Bay's full complement of wideouts available. His role figures to remain limited if the options surrounding him stay the same.
Oct 14, 2024
Chances could increase
Melton had one reception for six yards and two carries for 27 yards in Sunday's 34-13 victory over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Melton did not do much in the passing game, but he still made an impact in Sunday's contest with runs of 16 and 11 yards. Melton has not had many chances to contribute this season, but with fellow wideouts Jayden Reed (ankle) and Dontayvion Wicks (shoulder) picking up injuries in Week 7, his opportunities could increase in Green Bay's impending matchup with Houston.
Oct 8, 2024
Role remains limited
Melton was targeted twice and had one reception for 12 yards in Sunday's 24-19 victory over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
It was thought that Melton -- who shined late last season -- would get added opportunities with fellow wideouts Christian Watson (ankle) and Romeo Doubs (suspension) out for Week 5, but most of those went to Malik Heath, who got 45 snaps to 29 for Melton. Doubs is due back in Week 6 and Watson may not be far behind, so those who pounced on Melton may want to make another move.
Sep 30, 2024
Brings in long reception
Melton was targeted three times and had one reception for 28 yards in Sunday's 31-29 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Melton finally recorded a tally in the reception department after being shut out in that category over the first three weeks of the season. He was on the field for only 11 snaps in Week 4, but he could be more involved moving forward with fellow wideout Christian Watson potentially missing time after injuring his ankle Sunday. Even in that scenario, though, Melton will be no higher than the fourth option at his position behind Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks.
Sep 16, 2024
Rushes twice in win
Melton had two carries for eight yards in Sunday's 16-10 victory over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The wideout has not been targeted through two weeks, but he did record his first two touches of the season Sunday, with one carry going for 16 yards and the other resulting in an eight-yard loss. He remains the fifth option at his position on the depth chart.
Aug 24, 2024
Lone catch goes for TD
Melton had one reception on two targets for 18 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason finale against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Melton cashed in one of Green Bay's two passing touchdowns in a 30-7 exhibition win. The 25-year-old had one receiving touchdown across five games played last season. Melton could find himself in a similar role as a reserve wideout this upcoming season, which is to say he shouldn't warrant much fantasy consideration in standard drafts.
Aug 19, 2024
Makes two receptions
Melton was targeted three times and caught two passes for 10 yards in Sunday's preseason game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Melton garnered a start Sunday with the Packers holding out their top four wideouts, and he secured two of the three passes thrown his direction. Melton likely has a roster spot locked up thanks to his performance late last season, but barring an injury to a fellow pass catcher he will be no higher than the fifth option at his position.
Jun 10, 2024
Making case for role again
Coach Matt LaFleur recently praised Melton's speed, run-blocking, consistency and work ethic, Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur referred to Melton's speed as an "elite trait" and said it was a "great story" to see the 2022 seventh-round pick go from Seattle's practice squad to Green Bay's practice squad to topping 100 yards in a crucial Week 17 win last season. Melton was back down to fifth on the depth chart for the playoffs with Green Bay's top four WRs all healthy, but it's telling that the team still gave him some snaps on offense (39 in two playoff games, including a 19-yard TD catch) when there was so much on the line and injuries didn't force things. His combination of 4.34 speed and toughness/discipline seems to have won LaFleur over, and Melton's popularity among Packers fans will only continue growing after his recent revelation that he can't stop eating cheese curds even though they make his stomach hurt.
Jan 22, 2024
Finds paydirt in finale
Melton was targeted once and caught one pass for 19 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 24-21 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Melton did not get many opportunities in Saturday's contest, but he made a couple big plays early in the third quarter, drawing a 41-yard pass interference penalty on the play right before he found paydirt. Melton was mainly an afterthought until Week 16, but in the five games the Packers played from that point onward he racked up 17 receptions for 237 yards and two scores. It will be tough for Melton to make a major move up the depth chart in 2024 with all four wideouts ahead of him still under contract, but if Green Bay sticks with the same composition in the receiver room, he will head into training camp no worse than the fifth option at his position.
Jan 15, 2024
Back in complementary role
Melton was targeted twice and caught one pass for seven yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 48-32 victory over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Melton was busy late in the regular season, but with the four receivers ahead of him on the depth chart all suiting up Sunday for the first time since Week 13, he was back in a complementary role. He did play 22 of a possible 56 snaps, which was just one fewer than Christian Watson, who finished fourth among Packers wideouts in snaps. Melton could be involved to some degree in Green Bay's divisional-round matchup with the 49ers, but if Watson's snap count picks up it could come at Melton's expense.
Jan 8, 2024
Another productive appearance
Melton had five receptions for 62 yards and two carries for 14 yards in Sunday's 17-9 victory over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Melton did not start Sunday's contest, but he wound up leading Packers wideouts with 45 snaps and tying for the team lead in targets. He made a major mark late in the campaign, tallying 22 targets, 15 receptions, 211 receiving yards, a receiving touchdown, three carries and 21 rushing yards over the final three weeks of the regular season. His prospects continue to hinge on the availability of those above him on the depth chart, but he has proven he can be relied upon when called on.
Jan 1, 2024
Signed to active roster
The Packers signed Melton from their practice squad to their active roster Monday.
ANALYSIS
Melton had a breakout performance in Sunday's win over Minnesota, nabbing six catches on nine targets for 105 yards and a touchdown. It was his second straight productive week, as the wideout caught four of six targets for 44 yards and added a seven-yard rush Week 16 against Carolina. Melton stepped into the No. 2 receiver role in the second half Sunday after Jayden Reed exited due to a chest injury, and the former could again play a major role Week 18 versus Chicago if Reed is unable to return for the critical matchup that could determine whether the Packers qualify for the postseason. Green Bay has other injuries among its wideout corps as well, as Christian Watson has missed four straight contests due to a strained right hamstring and Dontayvion Wicks sat out against the Vikings with chest and ankle injuries.
Jan 1, 2024
Tops 100 receiving yards
Melton recorded six receptions on nine targets for 105 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 33-10 win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Melton was promoted from the practice squad for the second consecutive game and had the chance to produce with both Christian Watson (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (chest) sidelined. After missing a chance for a wide-open score on a fourth-down attempt early in the second quarter, Melton got on the same page with Jordan Love as he caught a nine-yard score late in the third quarter and then delivered three catches for 56 yards in the final quarter. As a result, he turned in the first 100-yard performance by a receiver for the Packers this season. With Jayden Reed (chest) also suffering an injury in the middle of Sunday's victory, Melton could have another chance to produce in Week 18 against the Bears.
Dec 30, 2023
Back with active roster
The Packers elevated Melton to their active roster Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old wideout made the most of his opportunities in Week 16 after getting elevated to the Packers' active roster, catching four of his six targets for 44 yards. Green Bay has a chance to be without both Christian Watson (hamstring, doubtful) and Dontayvion Wicks (chest/ankle, questionable) in Week 17, meaning Melton could very well see lots of snaps in the team's wide receiver room for the second consecutive game.
Dec 26, 2023
Reverts to Packers' practice squad
Melton reverted to Green Bay's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
ANALYSIS
Melton played 25 of 66 offensive snaps during Sunday's win over the Panthers with both Christian Watson (hamstring) and Jayden Reed (toe/chest) sidelined, securing four of six targets for 44 yards. He also rushed once for seven yards. It's quite possible Melton is elevated from the practice squad again Week 17 at Minnesota, if one or both of Watson/Reed remain sidelined.
Dec 26, 2023
Makes mark in win
Melton had four receptions for 44 yards and one carry for seven yards in Sunday's 33-30 victory over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Melton was elevated to the active roster in Week 16 with both Christian Watson (hamstring) and Jayden Reed (toe/chest) unavailable, and with another receiver -- Dontayvion Wicks -- exiting the game with a chest injury, Melton wound up having his most productive day as a professional. Melton was returned to the practice squad following Sunday's contest, but with now three Packers wideouts working back from injury he could suit up again in Week 17.
Dec 23, 2023
Joins active roster
The Packers elevated Melton to their active roster Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The second-year pro's elevation is likely a sign that Green Bay is preparing to be without its top wideout in Christian Watson (hamstring) for the third consecutive week. Melton was able to haul in one of his two targets for seven yards in the team's Week 16 loss, and he'll add depth to the Packers' wide receiver room Sunday.
Dec 18, 2023
Returns to practice squad
Melton reverted to Green Bay's practice squad Monday.
ANALYSIS
Melton saw playing time on both offense and special teams during Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay and caught one of his two targets for seven yards. The 24-year-old could be in line to play again next week as Christian Watson (hamstring) and Jayden Reed (toe) are both dealing with injuries.
Dec 18, 2023
Records first reception
Melton was targeted twice and caught one pass for seven yards in Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
The 2022 seventh-round pick appeared in the second game of his career Sunday, and he recorded his first-ever reception as a professional. He seems to have moved ahead of Samori Toure on the depth chart, but he remains well down the list of potential pass-catching options for the Packers.
Dec 16, 2023
Elevated ahead of Week 15 contest
The Packers elevated Melton from their practice squad Saturday ahead of their game Sunday versus the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Melton was signed to the active roster ahead of Green Bay's Week 12 game against Detroit and played two offensive snaps along with six special-teams snaps in that contest without logging any stats. He was subsequently cut and then re-signed to the practice squad. The Packers will likely be without Christian Watson (hamstring) against Tampa Bay on Sunday, and Dontayvion Wicks is questionable with an ankle injury, but even if neither wideout suits up it's unlikely Melton will see a significant role.
Nov 29, 2023
Headed to Green Bay
Melton signed with the Packers' practice squad Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Melton will rejoin Green Bay's practice after being waived from the active roster Monday. The 24-year-old has appeared in one game this season but failed to record any stats.
Nov 27, 2023
Cut by Green Bay
The Packers waived Melton on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Melton played two snaps on offense and another six on special teams in the Packers' Thanksgiving Day win over the Lions. He didn't register any stats. Melton will likely head back to the practice squad once he clears waivers.
Nov 22, 2023
Signs onto active roster
The Packers signed Melton to their active roster Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Green Bay signed Melton to its practice squad ahead of Week 1, and now he's getting a full-time promotion ahead of Week 12. The Packers' pecking order for targets seems to be taking shape already at this point, so it's not immediately obvious where Melton fits into the picture.
Aug 30, 2023
Lands on practice squad
After failing to make it through Green Bay's final roster cuts, Melton (hamstring) landed on the team's practice squad Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Melton spent training camp competing against a plethora of pass catchers for a depth receiving and special teams role with the Packers. While he ultimately came up short in favor of the likes of Samori Toure, Dontayvion Wicks (hamstring) and undrafted free agent Malik Heath, he will remain with the team on their practice unit and continue looking to make an impression. The 24-year-old spent most of his rookie season on Seattle's practice squad before landing in Green Bay in December.
Aug 16, 2023
Absent from practice Wednesday
Melton (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
A seventh-round pick by the Seahawks last year, Melton spent the majority of 2022 on Seattle's practice squad before inking a deal with the Packers in late December. He's trying to earn one of the final roster spots this summer.
Dec 27, 2022
Finds new home
Melton was signed to the Packers' 53-man roster from the Seahawks' practice squad Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Melton was selected in the seventh round of the 2022 draft, and he was unable to break camp with Seattle's active roster. However, he did land a spot on the team's practice squad, where he has remained since Aug. 31. He'll now get a chance with the Packers and potentially play Sunday against the Vikings.
Aug 31, 2022
Signs practice squad deal
The Seahawks signed Melton to their practice squad Wednesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Melton failed to land a spot on the Seahawks' initial 53-man roster, which included six wideouts. The rookie seventh-round pick secured seven of 15 targets for 89 yards across three preseason games and will start his NFL career on the practice squad.
Aug 31, 2022
Waived by Seattle
The Seahawks waived Melton on Tuesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Melton secured seven of 15 targets for 89 yards through three preseason games, and he could be a candidate to resurface on Seattle's practice squad. The rookie seventh-round pick recorded a 4.34 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
Aug 27, 2022
One catch in preseason loss
Melton caught his lone target for a 24-yard gain in Friday's 27-26 preseason loss to the Cowboys. He also rushed once for six yards.
ANALYSIS
Melton finished his first NFL preseason with seven catches (15 targets) for 89 yards through three games. The seventh-round pick was an interesting prospect, as he ran a 4.34 40-yard dash after starring in a sluggish Rutgers offense. Melton has shown an ability to get yards after the catch, but he hasn't done enough this preseason to guarantee himself a spot on the 53-man roster.
Aug 19, 2022
Four short catches
Melton caught four of 11 targets for 18 yards in Thursday's 27-11 preseason loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Melton led all Seahawks wide receivers in targets and offensive snaps (47). He didn't prove much with the opportunity, though the quarterbacks completed just 51 percent of their passes in the exhibition game. Melton led the team with 47 receiving yards in the preseason opener, so he's set up well to secure a final spot on the 53-man roster if he can finish training camp strong.
Aug 14, 2022
Paces team in receiving yards
Melton caught two of three targets for 47 yards in Saturday's 32-25 preseason loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
With DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Freddie Swain (back) and Dee Eskridge (hamstring) sitting out, Melton had a good opportunity to serve as the team's top wide receiver. He played half of the offensive snaps in the exhibition game and led the team in receiving yards. Most of his yardage came on the first play of the second half when he took a short pass from Drew Lock and showcased his speed for a 39-yard gain. Melton is making a strong case for a roster spot and will take this momentum into Thursday's preseason clash against the Bears.
Jul 31, 2022
Back at practice
Melton (hamstring) participated in Sunday's practice session, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Melton was limited by a hamstring injury to close out voluntary OTAs in early June, but he appears to have moved past the issue now that training camp is underway. The 23-year-old will compete for a spot on the 53-man roster ahead of the regular season.
Jun 9, 2022
Dealing with hamstring injury
Coach Pete Carroll said Thursday that Melton has been dealing with a hamstring injury, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks wrapped up voluntary OTAs on Thursday, but the 2022 seventh-rounder was limited by his hamstring issue. Melton is competing for a spot on Seattle's 53-man roster during the offseason, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be available for mandatory minicamp next week.
Apr 30, 2022
Heads west to Seattle
The Seahawks selected Melton in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 229th overall.
ANALYSIS
A five-year receiver at Rutgers, Melton's stat lines are unconvincing at face value. However, he was the motor of an otherwise putrid Scarlet Knights offense. He stacked up 1,250 receiving yards over his final two seasons while Rutgers' offense finished with just 4,027 passing yards in that span. Melton answered the call at the NFL Combine, too, recording a 4.34 40-yard dash and a 38-inch vertical at 5-foot-11, 189 pounds. Still, his best path to the field will be through special teams, as DK Metcalf (foot) and Tyler Lockett are the clear alpha wideouts in what is shaping up to be a run-heavy offense.
