Headed to San Francisco
The 49ers signed Lucas (illness) to a one-year deal Friday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2022 seventh-round pick seems to be past his illness and after spending the first two seasons of his career with the Lions, he's found a new home in San Francisco. Lucas primarily served as a special-teamer in Detroit, playing a total of 311 snaps (305 on special teams) and recording four tackles across the last two years. He's expected to compete for a similar role in San Francisco this offseason.

Practicing fully
Lucas (illness) is practicing in full ahead of Sunday's Week 5 game against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Lucas exited Week 4 early with the illness but appears ready to go for Sunday after the Lions played last Thursday night. The 2022 seventh-round pick has yet to see any action on defense this season but is a key cog on special teams for Detroit.

Dealing with illness
Lucas (illness) is questionable to return to Thursday's contest with the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Lucas exited the game early and it's unclear if he'll return. The cornerback was operating as an extreme depth option, so his absence won't carry much of an impact for Detroit.

Joins active roster
The Lions elevated Lucas to their active roster Saturday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Lucas landed on the Lions practice squad after failing to make it through final roster cuts following training camp. With a cornerback depth a little thin, Detroit has opted to promote him for backup.

Let go by Lions
Detroit is waiving Lucas, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Lucas was the Lions' seventh-round draft pick in 2022 and played in six games for the team last season, with most of his work coming on special teams. He had a strong preseason that included an interception this past Friday, but it wasn't enough to earn him a spot on the initial 53-man roster. Lucas appears to have a good chance of sticking with the organization as a member of the practice squad.

Back to practicing
Lucas participated in OTAs on Monday and appears to have recovered from his hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Lucas injured his hamstring back in December and ended up spending the remainder of the season on injured reserve but now appears to be healthy once again. The 26-year-old will likely be competing for a depth spot throughout the summer after logging three tackles (one solo) in six games last season.

Back at practice
The Lions designated Lucas (hamstring) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lucas, who's missed each of Detroit's last four contests while on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue, had his 21-day elevation window opened following his return to Wednesday's practice. Unless both the Lions and Seahawks win their respective matchups this weekend, the Week 18 contest versus Green Bay would be the rookie's last chance to suit up this year.

Heading to IR
Detroit placed Lucas (hamstring) on its injured reserve list Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Lucas apparently sustained a hamstring injury Friday during practice, and he'll now be forced to miss at least the Lions' next four games as he recovers. Detroit will need to try to find a way to replace his production on special teams in the meantime.

Out with hamstring issue
Lucas (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Lucas seemingly suffered the injury during practice, as he began the week without an injury designation. He has served primarily on special teams this season, tallying three total tackles across six games.

Full participant Wednesday
Lucas (ankle) was listed as a full participant on the Lions' injury report Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Lucas has not played since suffering an ankle injury during Detroit's Week 7 loss to the Cowboys. However, the rookie appears to be healthy again after logging a full session during the Lions' first practice of Week 11. Expect Lucas to reprise a core special-teams role against the Giants on Sunday.

Won't play Sunday
Lucas (ankle) is listed as inactive for Sunday's game against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Lucas is now slated to miss his third consecutive game as a result of the ankle injury he suffered during Detroit's Week 7 matchup in Dallas. The 25-year-old has operated primarily on special teams thus far in 2022, so his absence isn't expected to alter Detroit's defensive game plan to a large extent.

Out again
Lucas (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Packers, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Lucas will miss a a second straight game due to an ankle injury. He's played primarily on special teams this season, so his absence shouldn't impact Detroit's defense.

Won't face Miami
Lucas (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Lucas has been a healthy scratch for two games this season but was more recently a significant contributor on special teams. He has one total tackle across four matchups in his rookie campaign.

Secures backup role
Lucas made the initial 53-man roster as a backup slot cornerback, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
ANALYSIS
The seventh-round rookie had an impressive summer, beating out incumbent starting slot cornerback AJ Parker for the backup job at nickelback behind free-agent acquisition Mike Hughes. It is possible that Lucas's versatility won out, as he not only contributes on special teams, but Lucas can move over to safety, too.

Added to Motor City secondary
The Lions selected Lucas in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 237th overall.
ANALYSIS
Lucas was a four-star recruit at Arizona State and earned Freshman All-American honors in 2017, but he seemed to plateau after that. Still, he's a five-year starter that didn't allow any touchdowns over 10 starts in the 2021 season, and he's quick enough to mimic opposing receivers.
