Fowler is dealing with a sprained ankle and is considered day-to-day, Jason Butt of The Athletic reports.

Head coach Dan Quinn doesn't believe Fowler's injury should affect his Week 1 status, but it'll be important to monitor his status. The 2015 first-round pick is expected to be a full-time starter with the Falcons, and coming off a season with 11.5 sacks, he'll be integral to an otherwise questionable defense.

Coach Dan Quinn said Monday the injury isn't expected to be serious, so it's still to early to expect Fowler to miss Week 1 of the regular season. The team will certainly manage the veteran's reps leading up to the season, so expect Fowler's status to be updated as needed.

Fowler is wearing a left-knee brace after tweaking something during Wednesday's practice, but he was able to log a full practice session Thursday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Any sort of time on the shelf for Fowler would be bad news for the Falcons defense, as this is a unit that finished 30th in terms of both pressure percentage (18.4) and team sacks (28) during 2019. Thankfully there was no evident drop off to Fowler's movement or performance during Thursday's session, though the status of his knee will be one to keep an eye on as the team completes its final preseason scrimmage at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Friday.

Fowler agreed to terms on a contract with the Falcons on Wednesday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Fowler put together the best season of his career in 2019, notching 58 tackles (40 solo), 11.5 sacks, six defended passes and two forced fumbles. He also translated his only fumble recovery into a touchdown. The 25-year-old's arrival will serve to shore up the most blatant hole in Atlanta's defense, where he stands to serve as the team's top pass rusher. He'll remain a high-upside option in IDP formats that lend a premium to sack production.
