Eric Saubert Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Seahawks vs Falcons game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 1, 2025
Lands on injured reserve
Saubert (calf) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert was unable to practice all week due to his calf injury, and his movement to the injured reserve gives Nick Kallerup at least four weeks of opportunities for more offensive snaps at tight end behind AJ Barner and Elijah Arroyo. According to Boyle, a main reason for the move to the injured reserve is making space on the active roster for additions such as safety Jerrick Reed II.
Oct 31, 2025
Ruled out for Week 9
Saubert (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
A calf injury prevented Saubert from practicing all week, and his absence for Week 9 gives Nick Kallerup the opportunity for more offensive snaps at tight end behind AJ Barner and Elijah Arroyo. Saubert will aim to return in Week 10 against the Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 9.
Oct 30, 2025
Sits out of practice again
Saubert (calf) did not participate in practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The tight end also missed Wednesday's session. Saubert has one catch for 12 yards in seven games this season, though he has contributed as a blocker. Nick Kallerup could step forward into that role if Saubert can't go this Sunday night against the Commanders.
Oct 24, 2025
Back with Seattle
The Seahawks signed Saubert on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Saubert is back with the Seahawks after he was released in a procedural move Wednesday. Saubert has just one catch for 12 yards across seven appearances this season but has been a big asset as a blocker.
Oct 22, 2025
Getting released
Seattle released Saubert on Wednesday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Henderson, the move is believed to be purely procedural, and the Seahawks are expected to sign Saubert again soon. Through seven games so far this season, he's drawn just one target over 145 offensive snaps.
Oct 21, 2025
No targets once again
Saubert wasn't targeted in Monday's 27-19 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Saubert has been targeted just once through seven games this season. He has consistently played at least 25 percent of the offensive snaps in each game, so he's still a reliable run blocker.
Sep 15, 2025
No looks in Week 2
Saubert wasn't targeted in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Saubert barely played in the season opener. However, he handled a 38 percent snap share in Week 2, essentially splitting the No. 2 duties with tookie Elijah Arroyo. Saubert should continue to add depth and run-blocking stability to the Seahawks' offense.
Mar 24, 2025
Joining Seattle
Saubert signed with the Seahawks on Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With the signing, the tight end joins his eighth team as he heads into his ninth NFL campaign. Saubert spent 2024 with the 49ers, playing in all 17 games and catching 11 passes for 97 yards and a score. The veteran has played more on special teams than offense in five of his eight NFL seasons, and he should begin his time with Seattle behind at least Noah Fant and AJ Barner on the depth chart.
Jan 17, 2025
Solid in backup role
Saubert recorded 11 receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown across 17 games this season.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end was brought in to serve as a reliable backup to superstar tight end George Kittle in 2024. Saubert filled that role well, providing his usual strong blocking and sure hands while making two spot-starts for San Francisco. The 31-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2025 after completing his one-year deal with the 49ers.
Dec 18, 2024
No targets in Week 15
Saubert played 17 of the 49ers' 54 snaps on offense and went without a target in Thursday's 12-6 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Since playing a season-high 55 snaps in a Week 11 loss to the Seahawks while starting in place of the injured George Kittle, Saubert's role on offense has predictably been scaled back in recent weeks. While Kittle has suited up in each of the ensuing four contests, Saubert has drawn just two total targets and has played less than one-third of the offensive snaps in every game.
Nov 18, 2024
Catches one ball in spot-start
Saubert (illness) recorded one reception for seven yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to Seattle.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers ruled George Kittle (hamstring) inactive prior to Sunday's kickoff, opening the door for Saubert to fill in as the starting tight end. The veteran backup had to overcome an illness himself in order to suit up against the Seahawks. Saubert got through the contest without issue, but he was unable to replicate the kind of numbers we have come to expect from his star teammate. Kittle's targets are usually dispersed to other skill positions when he sidelined, leaving little fantasy potential for Saubert in spot-starts.
Sep 30, 2024
Logs 18 snaps with Kittle back
Saubert did not receive a target in Sunday's blowout win over the Patriots, logging 18 snaps on offense (29 percent) while playing 20 on special teams.
ANALYSIS
Saubert reverted to his expected backup role after starter George Kittle (4-45-1) returned from a one-game absence. The veteran backup saw his role diminish on offense after gaining 41 yards on two receptions in last week's spot-start for Kittle. Saubert can only operate as a deep-league fantasy option in games that Kittle misses, which does not appear to be the situation for next Sunday's contest against the Cardinals.
Sep 23, 2024
Posts 41 yards in spot start
Saubert had two receptions on as many targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Saubert received a bump in the depth chart prior to Sunday's loss after starter George Kittle (hamstring) was ruled out late in the practice week. The veteran backup performed well in the star's absence, but he didn't see his usage increase over last week's two-catch performance. There is a chance Kittle returns for the 49ers' upcoming tilt against the Patriots, so Saubert's time as the club's starting tight end may be short lived.
Sep 16, 2024
Records two receptions Sunday
Saubert finished with two receptions on as many targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 23-17 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Saubert failed to bring in his lone target against the Jets in Week 1, officially recording his first reception with San Francisco after signing with the club this past offseason. The veteran backup saw 26 snaps on offense in the loss compared to starter George Kittle's 51. Saubert won't generate much fantasy buzz in games that Kittle is active for this season.
Aug 28, 2024
Signs with San Francisco
Saubert signed to the 49ers' 53-man roster Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert was released by the team Tuesday but returned as a third tight end behind George Kittle and Jake Tonges. The veteran made 10 combined appearances for the Cowboys and Texans last season, playing more on special teams than offense. Saubert's best statistical season came in 2022 with Denver when he caught 15 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.
Aug 27, 2024
Let go by San Fran
Saubert was released by the 49ers on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Saubert inked a deal with the 49ers in April and was expected to primarily serve as a reserve blocking tight end. The 30-year-old made a push for a spot on the roster this preseason, but the team will instead roll with Jake Tonges as its lone backup behind starter George Kittle. Across 10 regular-season appearances with the Texans and Cowboys last season, Saubert caught three passes for 12 yards and worked mostly as a special-teamer.
Aug 19, 2024
Eying No. 2 role this preseason
Saubert has two receptions (three targets) for 11 yards through two preseason games with San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
The veteran addition at tight end started both exhibition games while George Kittle sat out with most of the starters on offense. Saubert is known for his blocking skills as opposed to being a vertical threat, so his preseason game log might be a good representation of the kind of fantasy numbers we will see from the 30-year-old in 2024.
Apr 8, 2024
Headed to Bay Area
Saubert signed a one-year deal with the 49ers on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Over the course of nine regular-season games for the Texans in 2023, Saubert (who before that suited up for one contest with the Cowboys) caught all three of his targets for 12 yards. With San Francisco, Saubert will work in a depth role behind George Kittle, and in that capacity it's unlikely he'll see enough targets in 2024 to merit fantasy consideration.
Jan 23, 2024
Inactive for playoff loss
Saubert did not suit up for Houston's 34-10 playoff loss to Baltimore last Saturday. He finished the season three receptions on three targets for 12 yards over nine games played.
ANALYSIS
The Texans grabbed Saubert off the Cowboys' practice squad in response to a rash of midseason injuries at tight end. Houston still has Brevin Jordan and Teagan Quitoriano (groin) under contract and will likely make a push to bring back unrestricted free agent Dalton Shultz. As such, Saubert is unlikely to return to Houston for the 2024 season.
Dec 20, 2023
Limited to special teams Week 16
Saubert played all 25 of his snaps on special teams in the Texans' 19-16 overtime win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
With Dalton Schultz (hamstring) returning to action after a two-game absence, Saubert dropped to third on the depth chart at tight end and saw his role on offense completely disappear. Even when he had been factoring into the mix on offense in recent weeks, Saubert recorded just one catch for five yards over 77 total snaps while serving mostly as a blocker during his time on the field.
Nov 19, 2023
Won't play Sunday
Saubert (coach's decision) is inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old tight end seems to have fallen down the Texans' depth chart with Brevin Jordan returning to action in Week 11. Saubert has appeared in two games since signing with Houston in late October, playing a total of 55 snaps (36 offensive and 19 on special teams) and failing to record a single stat.
Nov 6, 2023
Top TE backup Sunday
Saubert was not targeted and played 12 snaps in Sunday's 39-37 win over Tampa Bay in Week 9.
ANALYSIS
Saubert was signed to Houston's active roster as both Brevin Jordan (foot) and Teagan Quitoriano (groin) were unavailable. There isn't much for backup tight ends after Dalton Schultz, who accounts 50 of the position group's 59 targets this season.
Oct 31, 2023
Joins Houston
The Texans signed Saubert from the Cowboys' practice squad to their active roster Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
The move corresponds with the Texans placing Teagan Quitoriano (groin) on injured reserve. Saubert joined the Cowboys' practice squad on Oct. 24, was elevated for Sunday's game against the Rams and played 14 snaps on special teams. He'll fill in as a depth tight end behind Dalton Schultz with Brevin Jordan (foot) expected to miss games.
Oct 30, 2023
Back to practice squad
Saubert reverted to Dallas' practice squad Monday.
ANALYSIS
Saubert didn't record any stats in Sunday's win against the Rams while playing 14 snaps on special teams. The 29-year-old just signed with the Cowboys' practice squad last week and will now wait for another chance to be elevated.
Oct 28, 2023
Promoted to active roster
The Cowboys elevated Saubert to the active roster Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Saubert joined the Cowboys' practice squad Tuesday after being released with an injury settlement by the Dolphins on Sept. 6. He had a tryout with the Steelers on Oct. 3, but ultimately landed in Dallas three weeks later. If he suits up for Sunday's contest against the Rams, he'll provide an additional depth piece at tight end alongside Luke Schoonmaker and Sean McKeon.
Oct 24, 2023
Headed to Dallas
The Cowboys signed Saubert to their practice squad Tuesday, Nick Harris of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert signed with the Dolphins this past offseason, but he ended up suffering an undisclosed injury that led to his eventual release in early September. The veteran tight end out of Drake most recently played for the Broncos in 2022, and throughout his six-year NFL career, he's recorded 33 receptions for 280 yards and two touchdowns.
Oct 3, 2023
Hosted by Steelers
Saubert (undisclosed) had a workout with Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert had an opportunity with Miami during training camp, but he suffered an undisclosed injury which resulted in him receiving an injury settlement with the team and becoming a free agent. Now healthy, the 29-year-old is looking for work again, after spending the two previous seasons with the Broncos.
Sep 6, 2023
Released with injury settlement
Saubert (undisclosed) was released after he and the Dolphins agreed on an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert was set to spend the 2023 season on the Dolphins' injured reserve, but he will now have an opportunity to play elsewhere if he can prove his health. The tight end has been dealing with an undisclosed injury, which he'll have to recover from prior to playing this year.
Aug 29, 2023
Moves to injured reserve
Saubert (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve by the Dolphins on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
The tight end went out with his injury on Aug. 21 and initial reports were that he could miss a week or two. The blocking specialist signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins in March after spending the last two seasons with the Broncos. Saubert has 15 starts in 74 career games.
Aug 21, 2023
Dealing with injury
Saubert (undisclosed) could miss a week or two, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert's injury details are unclear, from when he suffered the injury to what it is, but according to head coach Mike McDaniel, the 29-year-old will need a week or two of rehabbing to get back on track.
Mar 15, 2023
Lands with Dolphins
The Dolphins agreed to terms with Saubert on a one-year contract, NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reports.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old is a career blocking specialist with 33 catches across 74 games. He had 15 grabs for 148 yards and one touchdown with the Broncos last season. Saubert is highly unlikely to become relevant in fantasy.
Jan 16, 2023
Scores once in 2022
Saubert caught 15 of 24 targets for 148 yards and one touchdown while playing all 17 games in the 2022 season.
ANALYSIS
Saubert finished a relatively quiet 2022 season, as the veteran played at least 50 percent of offensive snaps just three times across 17 games. The veteran tight end provided solid depth at the position, while rookie Greg Dulcich emerged as the leader of the Broncos' tight end corps for most of the season. Saubert is set to be free agent this offseason, but his dynamic skill set may be attractive to a new coaching staff in Denver ahead of the 2023 campaign. If the 28-year-old decides to return to the Broncos, he would likely continue to contribute in a depth role next season.
Jan 8, 2023
Will play Sunday
Saubert (knee) is active Sunday against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Saubert was unable to practice Wednesday or Thursday, but he'll take the field Sunday in the Broncos' regular-season finale. He'll likely fall behind Albert Okwuegbunam as the team's No. 2 option at tight end.
Jan 6, 2023
Questionable against Chargers
Saubert (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's season finale against the Chargers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
A knee injury has cut into Saubert's practice reps. Fellow tight end Eric Tomlinson (ankle) is also questionable, leaving Albert Okwuegbunam as the clear No. 1 tight end for Denver in the season finale.
Jan 5, 2023
Still out Thursday
Saubert (knee) didn't practice Thursday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
For the second consecutive day, Saubert was held out of Week 18 prep as a result of the knee injury he presumably sustained in last weekend's loss to the Chiefs. He'll have one more chance to practice in any capacity Friday before Denver would be forced to tag Saubert with an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Jan 4, 2023
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Saubert didn't practice Wednesday due to a knee injury, Ellie Kinney of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert played 23 offensive snaps and caught all three of his targets for 30 yards in Week 17, but he's sidelined to start Week 18 prep due to a knee injury. The extent of the injury remains unclear, but the backup tight end will have two more chances to practice before the team needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's matchup against the Chargers.
Jan 3, 2023
Catches three passes
Saubert caught all three of his targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Saubert operated as Denver's No. 2 tight end Sunday behind Albert Okwuegbunam. The 28-year-old played 24 of the Broncos' 70 offensive snaps, while Okwuegbunam played 37 snaps. In 16 games played this season, Saubert has caught 15 of 24 targets for 148 yards, all of which are career-highs. The 6-foot-5, 253-pounder should remain far off the fantasy radar ahead of a Week 18 matchup with the Chargers.
Nov 22, 2022
Catches two passes in loss
Saubert secured both of his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 22-16 overtime loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Saubert continued to operate as the Broncos' No. 2 tight end Sunday behind rookie Greg Dulcich. With 27 offensive snaps, the veteran saw roughly half the playing time of Dulcich, who played 53 snaps in the contest. Saubert's limited opportunities in a struggling passing attack make him irrelevant for fantasy purposes. Barring an injury to Dulcich, the 28-year-old should be left off fantasy rosters heading into a Week 12 matchup with the Panthers.
Oct 19, 2022
Plays one offensive snap
Saubert played one offensive snap and failed to see a single target in Monday's 19-16 overtime loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
After leading all tight ends in snaps in the past two games, Saubert took a major backseat to rookie Greg Dulcich in his debut. The veteran practiced in a limited fashion due to an ankle injury but was active for the game. His lack of involvement could be related to the injury, but it appears the coaching staff is confident in Dulcich, who impressed as the team's new No. 1 tight end. It's likely that Saubert's involvement in the offense will decrease and he'll be relegated to a depth role going forward. The 28-year-old should remain off the fantasy radar when the Broncos host the Jets in Week 7.
Oct 17, 2022
In uniform Monday
Saubert (thigh) is listed as active for Monday night's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Saubert was limited in practice this week, but he'll give it a go in Week 6 and figures to share TE work with Greg Dulcich, who came off IR on Monday. Meanwhile, Albert Okwuegbunam was made inactive by the Broncos.
Oct 15, 2022
Questionable entering Monday
Saubert (ankle) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Saubert managed to practice all week in limited fashion which theoretically should put him on track to play in Monday's divisional battle. The veteran tight end easily doubled his total receptions in last Thursday's loss to the Colts, but he's been relatively inconsistent overall with the Broncos content on using a four-man platoon to cover the position.
Oct 14, 2022
Logs limited practice Friday
Saubert was limited during Friday's practice due to an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Saubert has logged back-to-back limited sessions to start the week due to an ankle injury that he presumably picked up during last Thursday's loss to the Colts. He'll have one more opportunity to improve to a full participant before Denver needs to make a decision on his status for Monday's contest against the Chargers.
Oct 8, 2022
Catches five passes in loss
Saubert caught five of seven targets for 36 yards in Thursday's 12-9 overtime loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Saubert once again led all Broncos tight ends in snap percentage, playing 56 percent of the team's offensive snaps. For the time being, it appears that the veteran has earned the trust of the Denver coaching staff and quarterback Russell Wilson, as his seven targets were the third highest in the Denver passing attack. Unfortunately, this bump in usage did not result in much for fantasy purposes with the offense continuing to struggle. Despite Saubert's climb to the top of the depth chart, the 28-year-old will be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes when the Broncos visit the Chargers in Week 6.
Oct 4, 2022
Leads Denver tight ends in snaps
Saubert caught one of two targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 32-23 loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Though Saubert didn't produce much for fantasy purposes in the contest, the 6-foot-5, 253-pounder led all Broncos tight ends in playing time. Saubert was on the field 41 of 53 offensive snaps, while Eric Tomlinson saw action on 24 offensive snaps. Albert Okwuegbunam surprisingly recorded just one snap in the loss, as he seems to have ceded top billing on the depth chart to Saubert. Even so, the 28-year-old finds himself in a murky situation on a struggling offense with rookie tight end Greg Dulcich nearing a return. Saubert should remain off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 5 matchup with the Colts
Sep 20, 2022
Nabs touchdown catch Week 2
Saubert recorded a 22-yard touchdown reception among his two targets in Sunday's 16-9 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Saubert narrowly missed out on reeling in a touchdown reception in the Broncos' 17-16 loss to the Seahawks in Week 1, but he came down with a tough catch in the end zone while being draped by a defender early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win. The score helped put the Broncos up 13-9 before kicker Brandon McManus tacked on an insurance field goal with 3:36 remaining. Despite his involvement in the red zone early on this season, Saubert has only drawn three targets in total and has played fewer than 40 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps in both of the team's first two games. Even if top tight end Albert Okwuegbunam were to miss time, Saubert would likely be deployed mostly as a blocker and wouldn't be in store for an abundance of targets.
May 4, 2022
Earns deal with Denver
Saubert re-signed with the Broncos on a one-year deal Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert appeared in all 17 games with Denver last season, earning eight catches on 12 targets for 47 yards and a touchdown. He's also been a solid and consistent contributor on special teams for the Broncos. With the departure of Noah Fant to Seattle, but the acquisition of Eric Tomlinson in free agency, and the selection of Greg Dulcich in the third round of the 2022 Draft, Saubert could be fighting for a roster spot in training camp.
Dec 1, 2021
Hits pay dirt in win
Saubert caught his lone target for one yard and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-13 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Saubert operated as Denver's No. 3 tight end Sunday and was the recipient of Teddy Bridgewater's only passing touchdown of the contest. The one-yard score made for an efficient day for Saubert, but the third-string tight end on the Broncos has no place on fantasy rosters, barring an injury to both Noah Fant and Albert Okwuegbunam, of course. The Broncos visit the division-leading Chiefs in Week 13.
Oct 23, 2021
Catches one pass
Saubert caught his lone target for three yards in Thursday's 17-14 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Saubert played on 42 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps as he continued to operate at the team's No. 2 tight end with Albert Okwuegbunam placed on IR. The 27-year-old tight end was unable to capitalize on his increased playing time, playing well behind starter Noah Fant. Saubert is in no way an option for fantasy purposes. The 6-foot-5, 253-pounder would need both Fant and Okwuegbunam to be sidelined with injuries to see any sort of path to fantasy relevance. The Broncos will host Washington in Week 8.
Oct 19, 2021
Catches three passes in loss
Saubert secured three of his five targets for 23 yards in Sunday's loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
With Albert Okwuegbunam (hamstring) placed on IR, Saubert saw his first action as Denver's No. 2 tight end. Unfortunately, that didn't equate to much in the way of production behind starter Noah Fant. Saubert played on just 35 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps. With Okwuegbunam sidelined, Saubert will likely continue to see increased playing time behind Fant, but he will remain far off the fantasy radar with so many mouths to feed in the Denver passing attack. Up next for the Broncos is a Thursday night showdown with the Browns in Week 7.
Aug 19, 2021
Involved in passing game
Saubert secured both of his targets for 36 yards in Saturday's 33-6 win over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Saubert gained most of his yardage on a 22-yard catch-and-run in the second quarter of the contest. The fourth-year tight end's stat line was underwhelming, but his involvement in the passing game is a promising sign in his battle for a roster spot. According to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic, "Saubert appears to have the No. 3 tight end position locked down." If this becomes reality, the veteran will find himself behind incumbent starter Noah Fant and Albert Okwuegbunam on the depth chart. With that said, Okwuegbunam did not play Saturday as he continues rehab from an ACL surgery last November. It remains unclear if Okwuegbunam will be ready for the season opener. If not, Saubert could find himself taking on larger role in the offense. The 6-foot-5, 253-pounder will look to build upon this performance and his solid training camp when the Broncos visit the Seahawks in Week 2 of the preseason.
May 3, 2021
Latches on in Denver
The Broncos signed Saubert to a contract Monday, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert appeared in eight games with the Jaguars last season, securing three of four targets for 16 yards. He'll now compete to earn a similar depth role for Denver.
Nov 21, 2020
Promoted from practice squad
Saubert was promoted to Jacksonville's active roster from the practice squad Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Saubert appeared in one game earlier this season and saw most of his action on special teams. He'll fill a depth role Sunday with James O'Shaughnessy (knee) sidelined.
Oct 26, 2020
Back to practice squad
Saubert reverted to Jacksonville's practice squad after suiting up for Sunday's game against the Chargers, per the NFL's official transaction log.
ANALYSIS
Saubert was on the field for 13 snaps in Week 7, all on special teams. He's now appeared in two games in 2020.
Oct 25, 2020
Elevates to active roster
The Jaguars elevated Saubert to the active roster Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Tyler Eifert (neck) will sit out Sunday's game versus the Chargers, so Saubert will rise up and add depth at tight end. The 2017 fifth-round pick hasn't suited up in a game since last season when he played two games with Chicago and caught two passes for 21 yards.
Sep 20, 2020
Finds new home
Saubert agreed to join the Jaguars' practice squad Sunday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert was let go by the Bears on Wednesday to make room on the 53-man roster, but he didn't have to wait long to find a new team. The 26-year-old caught just two passes for 21 yards across two appearances for the Bears in 2019.
Sep 16, 2020
Waived by Bears
Saubert was waived by Chicago on Wednesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Saubert was one of five tight ends to originally make the 53-man roster, but he was inactive in Week 1 and is now getting waived by the Bears. Kicker Cairo Santos is taking the roster spot vacated by Saubert.
Sep 13, 2020
Not playing in season opener
Saubert (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game in Detroit.
ANALYSIS
One of five tight ends the Bears kept on the 53-man roster to begin the season, Saubert's status as a healthy inactive confirms he's the No. 5 option on the depth chart. Even if he moves up in the pecking order as the season unfolds, Saubert will likely be limited mostly to a blocking role.
Aug 3, 2020
Activated off COVID-19 list
Saubert was cleared from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
ANALYSIS
It appears Saubert never tested positive for COVID-19, but was rather potentially exposed to it. Now that he has been cleared he will enter camp looking to make an impression, as the Bears are already relatively deep at tight end.
Jul 29, 2020
Moved to COVID-19 list
The Bears placed Saubert (illness) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
The transaction indicates that Saubert has either tested positive for COVID-19 or is quarantining after coming into close contact with someone who has. He's fighting for a roster spot in Chicago's overflowing tight end room.
