Harrison Bryant Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Texans vs Chiefs game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 15, 2025
Placed on injured reserve
The Texans placed Bryant (neck/shoulder) on injured reserve Saturday.
ANALYSIS
While Bryant was placed on injured reserve, fellow tight end Cade Stover (foot) was activated from IR, and the latter will serve as the Texans' TE2 behind Dalton Schultz moving forward. Bryant will be required to miss at least four games while on IR, which makes Week 15 against the Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 14 the earliest he can return. Luke Lachey is available off the practice squad should the Texans require more depth at tight end for as long as Bryant is on IR.
Nov 14, 2025
Won't play against Tennessee
Bryant (neck/shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was unable to practice all week due to neck and shoulder injuries, and the sixth-year pro will not be available for Sunday's AFC South tilt. Dalton Schultz (illness/shoulder) has been cleared to play against Tennessee, and Cade Stover (foot) could be activated from injured reserve to fill in as the TE2 in Bryant's absence. If Stover isn't activated, then the Texans would likely elevate Luke Lachey from the practice squad to be Schultz's backup.
Nov 14, 2025
Registers DNP Thursday
Bryant (neck/shoulder) did not practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Houston's tight end room is in flux entering Sunday's matchup against the Titans. Bryant logged a second consecutive DNP as did starting tight end Dalton Schultz (illness/shoulder). A third tight end, Cade Stover, has been designated to return from a broken foot and was a limited participant for the second straight day.
Nov 12, 2025
Sits out Wednesday's practice
Bryant (neck/shoulder) did not participate in Wednesday's practice, the Texans official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It was a busy news day for Houston's tight ends. In addition to Bryant sitting out, starting TE Dalton Schultz (shoulder) was unable to go, and Cade Stover (foot) was designated to return and practiced for the first time since breaking his foot in the season opener.
Nov 9, 2025
Good to go Sunday
Bryant (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old received the questionable tag due to a shoulder injury, but his full practice Friday put him on track to be available for Sunday's divisional matchup. Bryant has just two catches for seven yards this year and should continue to operate as Houston's No. 2 tight end behind starter Dalton Schultz.
Nov 7, 2025
Questionable for Week 10
Bryant (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
A shoulder injury prevented Bryant from participating in the first two practices of Week 10 prep, but he earned the questionable tag after logging a full practice Friday. Dalton Schultz is the only healthy tight end on the active roster, so the Texans may elevate Brevin Jordan or Cade Stover from the practice squad to provide added depth at tight end in case Bryant is unable to play Sunday.
Nov 5, 2025
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Bryant (shoulder) didn't participate in Houston's practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bryant popped up on the injury report after catching one pass for two yards in the Week 9 loss to the Broncos. The Texans could be shorthanded at tight end for Sunday's matchup versus the Jaguars, as Dalton Schultz is dealing with a knee injury while Cade Stover (foot) is still on injured reserve.
Nov 3, 2025
Logs one reception in loss
Bryant caught one of two targets for two yards in Sunday's 18-15 loss to the Broncos in Week 9.
ANALYSIS
Bryant played a usual role, serving as the backup tight end to Dalton Schultz, who missed a couple of sessions during the practice week leading up to the game. Bryant has two catches on six targets for six yards through six games played.
Nov 1, 2025
Normal role expected Week 9
Bryant is expected to be the backup tight end in Sunday's game against the Broncos as starter Dalton Schultz (knee, shoulder) logged a full practice Friday, Sam Warren of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Even after Schultz sat out practices Wednesday and Thursday, Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans remained confident his starting tight end would get on the field before Sunday's game. Schultz is listed as questionable but is expected to play, which means Bryant should remain the backup.
Oct 31, 2025
Waiting on starter's health
Bryant remained the lone healthy tight end on the active roster Thursday, when starter Dalton Schultz (knee, shoulder) missed a second straight practice, Aaron Wilson of the KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Although Schultz missed the first two practices in preparation for Week 9 against the Broncos, head coach DeMeco Ryans said Thursday that he expects the starting tight end to return later this week. If Schultz isn't available to play Sunday, Bryant would step in as the starter. In that event, he may not be a big part of the passing gameplan, as it looks like Houston will be welcoming back wide receivers Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring), both of whom logged full practices Thursday.
Oct 30, 2025
Lone healthy TE on roster
Bryant is the lone healthy tight end on the 53-man roster after Houston announced that Dalton Schultz (knee, shoulder) did not practice Wednesday, Sam Warren of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz's injury coupled with the health of wide receivers Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) -- both of whom were limited participants Wednesday -- raises Bryant's profile leading up to Week 9's home game against Denver. Of course, there's still time for Schultz to get on the practice field, and he didn't appear to be hurt last week, when he played to the final snap in Week 8's win over San Francisco. Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans didn't sound too concerned, indicating that he expects to get Schultz back as the week goes on. Bryant has one reception on four targets for five yards while playing 26 percent of the offensive snaps in the six games he's played this season.
Oct 27, 2025
Held catchless in Week 8
Bryant failed to haul in his lone target while playing 22 of the Texans' 80 snaps on offense in Sunday's 26-15 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Though he's logged double-digit snaps in each of the Texans' ensuing six games since Cade Stover suffered a broken foot in the season-opening loss to the Rams, Bryant remains well behind starting tight end Dalton Schultz in terms of both usage and playing time. Through his six appearances, Bryant has been targeted just four times and has recorded a five-yard reception.
Sep 22, 2025
Untargeted Week 3
Bryant was not targeted over 17 snaps in Sunday's 17-10 loss to Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Bryant is operating as the backup tight end to Dalton Schultz following injuries to Brevin Jordan (knee), Irv Smith (ankle) and Cade Stover (foot). Of the three injured players, only Stover is expected to play again in 2025, which means, at a minimum, Bryant will get playing time for the next two weeks.
Sep 16, 2025
Targeted once in loss
Bryant did not catch his lone target in Monday's 20-19 loss to Tampa Bay in Week 2.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was added to the 53-man roster following an injury to Cade Stover (foot). He was on the field for 37 percent of the offensive snaps, significantly lower than the 57 percent Stover had in Week 1.
Sep 10, 2025
Officially joins active roster
Houston signed Bryant from its practice squad to its active roster Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
With major contributor Cade Stover bound for the Texans' injured reserve list Wednesday, the team is trying to add depth to its 53-man roster at tight end. As of right now, Bryant and starter Dalton Schultz are the only healthy tight ends on Houston's active roster.
Sep 10, 2025
Headed to active roster
The Texans are planning on signing Bryant to their 53-man roster Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old failed to make the Texans' initial 53-man roster in late August and spent time with the practice squad. However, with the Cade Stover sustaining a broken foot in Houston's Week 1 loss, Bryant is expected to be added to the team's active roster. He'll likely play as a depth piece in the Texans' tight end corps while Stover remains sidelined.
Aug 28, 2025
Sticking with Texans
Houston signed Bryant to its practice squad Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was a casualty of cutdown day Tuesday, but he's sticking with Houston after the team acquired him in a trade with the Eagles on Aug. 17. Bryant has substantial NFL experience, playing in 78 regular-season games across five NFL campaigns. The Texans have just two healthy tight ends (Dalton Schultz and Cade Stover) on their 53-man roster, so Bryant is in good position to be elevated for gameday early in the campaign.
Aug 26, 2025
Released by Texans
The Texans released Bryant on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Bryant played 13 games with the Raiders last season and posted nine catches (12 targets) for 86 yards. He signed with the Eagles in March and was subsequently traded to the Texans on Aug. 17 in a deal that had John Metchie going the other way. However, he couldn't carve out a role, so the Texans' initial 53-man roster will feature tight ends Dalton Schultz and Cade Stover.
Aug 17, 2025
Traded to Houston
The Eagles traded Bryant to the Texans on Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was traded along with 2026 fifth-round pick for John Metchie and 2026 sixth-round pick. Bryant had signed with Philadelphia in March and will now compete with Cade Stover and Irv Smith to serve as Houston's No. 2 tight end behind Dalton Schultz.
Mar 13, 2025
Links up with Philadelphia
Bryant signed a one-year contract with the Eagles on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant appeared in 13 regular-season games with Las Vegas in 2024, in which span he secured nine of 12 targets for 86 yards. The 2020 fourth-round pick will next compete to entrench himself in a similar depth role with Philadelphia, where Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra stand atop the tight end depth chart.
Jan 11, 2025
Catches nine total passes in 2024
Bryant played 11 offensive snaps but was not targeted in the Raiders' Week 18 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Bryant finishes his 2024 campaign with nine receptions for 86 yards on 12 targets across 13 games with the Raiders, primarily providing depth at tight end behind All-Pro rookie Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer. Bowers isn't going anywhere, while Bryant is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in 2025.
Nov 29, 2024
Inactive Friday
Bryant is inactive for Friday's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
With Bryant inactive, Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer will lead the Raiders' tight end corps Friday, with Justin Shorter in reserve.
Nov 26, 2024
Full participant Tuesday
Bryant (ankle) was considered to be a full participant at the Raiders' walkthrough Tuesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant appears to be set to return to the field Friday versus Kansas City after missing the last two games with an ankle injury. The 26-year-old will be back in his role as the No. 3 option behind Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer at tight end in Week 13.
Nov 24, 2024
Remaining out Week 12
Bryant (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's matchup versus Denver.
ANALYSIS
Bryant injured his ankle Week 9 against Cincinnati and will miss his second consecutive contest following the Raiders' Week 10 bye. The tight end did manage to log a pair of limited practices to end the week, so he could get back on the field for a Black Friday matchup against the Chiefs in Week 13. Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer will lead Las Vegas' tight-end corps against the Broncos.
Nov 22, 2024
Could return Sunday
Bryant (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Bryant started the Raiders' week of practice with a DNP but followed that up with consecutive limited sessions, suggesting that he could be trending toward playing in Sunday's divisional matchup. The first-year Raider has caught nine of his 12 targets for 86 yards through eight appearances this season. If Bryant is sidelined for the second consecutive game in Week 12, Justin Shorter is likely to serve as the Raiders' No. 3 tight end.
Nov 20, 2024
Opens week as DNP
Bryant (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was sidelined for the Raiders' Week 11 loss to the Dolphins due to an ankle injury, so Wednesday's DNP comes as no surprise. He likely needs to get back on the field in a limited capacity either Thursday or Friday in order to suit up for Las Vegas' Week 12 matchup against the Broncos. If Bryant is unable to do so, expect Justin Shorter to serve as the Raiders' No. 3 tight end.
Nov 15, 2024
Won't play Week 11
Bryant (ankle) did not practice Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was able to practice in a limited capacity Thursday, but his ankle injury was serious enough to prevent him from seeing the field Friday, and the 2020 fourth-round pick will be sidelined Sunday for the second time this season. With Bryant sidelined, Justin Shorter will serve as the Raiders' No. 2 tight end behind rookie starter Brock Bowers.
Nov 14, 2024
Able to practice Thursday
Bryant (ankle) was a limited practice participant Thursday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant suffered an ankle injury in Week 9 against the Bengals, and even with the Raiders coming off a Week 10 bye, the issue kept him off the practice field Wednesday. His ability to return Thursday indicates he's progressing through the issue, and if he can practice Friday, he'll give himself a shot at playing against Miami on Sunday. Over his last three games, Bryant has logged seven catches (on nine targets) for 65 yards.
Nov 13, 2024
Opens week as DNP
Bryant (ankle) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It appears Bryant is still dealing with the ankle injury sustained in the Raiders' Week 9 loss to the Bengals, despite having a Week 10 bye. The 26-year-old tight end likely needs to upgrade to at least limited participation Thursday or Friday in order to take the field in Week 11, when the Raiders face the Dolphins. If he's unable to do so, expect Justin Shorter to serve as Las Vegas' No. 2 tight end Sunday.
Nov 3, 2024
Leaves with ankle injury
Bryant exited Sunday's contest against the Bengals with an ankle injury and is questionable to return.
ANALYSIS
Prior to leaving, Bryant caught both of his targets in the pass game for 22 yards. Justin Shorter is next up on the depth chart at tight end behind Brock Bowers.
Nov 1, 2024
Cleared for Week 9
Bryant (elbow) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Bryant has filled in for Michael Mayer (NFI - personal) as the in-line/blocking TE since September, with John Samuel Shenker then getting more playing time when Bryant missed Week 8. It's not a role with much fantasy appeal, but Bryant's return may cost Brock Bowers a few snaps/routes.
Oct 30, 2024
Limited in practice
Bryant (elbow) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Bryant misses Las Vegas' loss to the Chiefs in Week 8 due to an elbow injury, so it's encouraging to see him back on the practice field in at least a limited capacity. He'll work to gain clearance in time for Sunday's road matchup against the Bengals, with the target of working as a complement to rookie phenom Brock Bowers.
Oct 28, 2024
Modest numbers through seven games
Bryant (elbow), who was inactive for Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, has seven catches (on 10 targets) for 64 yards through seven games this season.
ANALYSIS
Rookie sensation Brock Bowers has dominated the Raiders' TE group to date, hauling in 52 of 65 targets for 535 yards and one touchdown in eight contests. Meanwhile, Bryant ranks second to Bowers at the position in all receiving categories. Bryant wasn't able to practice last week, so Wednesday's session may set the tone for the fifth-year pro's return to action.
Oct 27, 2024
Not suiting up Sunday
Bryant (elbow) is inactive for Sunday's Week 8 clash against Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Bryant hurt his elbow last Sunday against the Rams and wasn't able to practice at all this week. As such, it's not surprising that he won't be able to play in the AFC West battle versus the Chiefs on Sunday. John Samuel Shenker figures to move into the No. 2 tight-end role behind Brock Bowers.
Oct 25, 2024
Questionable for Week 8
Bryant (elbow) did not practice Friday but is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant elbowed his injury during the Raiders' Week 7 loss to the Rams. Given that he hasn't practiced all week, Bryant is likely leaning towards doubtful, rather than questionable, ahead of Sunday's game. Nevertheless, official word of his status may not be known until the Raiders' inactive list is announced approximately 90 minutes before the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. If Bryant cannot play, John Samuel Shenker would step up as the Raiders' backup tight end behind rookie first-rounder Brock Bowers.
Oct 23, 2024
Misses practice Wednesday
Bryant (elbow) did not participate at the Raiders' practice Wednesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant is nursing an elbow injury to open the week, forcing him to sit out the team's first practice session ahead of Sunday's matchup with Kansas City. The tight end will have two more chances to return to the field this week in order to avoid an injury designation for Week 8.
Oct 20, 2024
Dealing with elbow injury
Bryant is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Rams due to an elbow injury.
ANALYSIS
Bryant suffered the injury during the second half of Sunday's game, and he was taken to the locker room after being checked out by trainers on the sideline. If his day is done, he'll finish with two catches on as many targets for 19 yards. John Samuel Shenker and Justin Shorter will see more backup tight end snaps behind starter Brock Bowers for as long as Bryant is sidelined.
Oct 14, 2024
Targeted five times Sunday
Bryant caught three of five targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 32-13 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was doubled up in targets by fellow tight end Brock Bowers, who turned his 10 looks into nine catches for 71 yards, but Bryant drew more attention from quarterback Aidan O'Connell than any individual Raiders wideout with Davante Adams (hamstring) and Jakobi Meyers (ankle) sidelined. In the immediate future, Bryant will continue to operate as the team's No. 2 option at tight end after Michael Mayer (personal) was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list this past week.
Oct 1, 2024
Pair of receptions in victory
Bryant caught both of his targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Bryant filled in for the sidelined Michael Mayer (personal) as the No. 2 tight end behind rookie Brock Bowers, but Bryant actually matched Bower's two receptions despite seeing one fewer target. Bryant could see a similar level of involvement against the Broncos in Week 5 if Mayer remains out.
Mar 13, 2024
Signs one-year deal with Vegas
Bryant has agreed to a one-year, $3.25 million contract with the Raiders, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant is slated to replace Austin Hooper as the the veteran backup to 2023 second-round draft pick Michael Mayer (toe) in Vegas. After exceeding 200 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons, Bryant had just 81 yards with the Browns in the 2023 regular season despite suiting up for all 17 games. He can make up to $4 million in 2024 with incentives.
Jan 14, 2024
Saves best game for playoffs
Bryant caught four of six targets for 64 yards in Saturday's 45-14 wild-card playoff loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
Bryant had his best game of the season in the playoff loss, nearly equaling the receiving yards he had in 17 regular season games. The tight end recorded 13 catches on 20 targets for 81 yards and three touchdowns in 2023. This was the season that starter David Njoku made an evolutionary leap, which rendered Bryant to career lows in catches, targets and yards while fighting for tight end scraps with Jordan Akins. Bryant enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, but his organizational and system knowledge could be useful to a team that is still in its competitive window.
Jan 7, 2024
Likely to start Week 18
Bryant was spotted warming up as Cleveland's starting tight end ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Though top tight end David Njoku is active for the contest, he and several other Browns starters are expected to be rested for all or most of the Week 18 contest while Cleveland is already locked in as the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs. Given that Njoku wasn't warming up with the first-team offense, he looks like he's being viewed as more of an emergency option Sunday while Bryant and Jordan Akins play nearly all the snaps at tight end. Through 16 games this season, Bryant has recorded 13 catches for 81 yards and three touchdowns on 20 targets.
Dec 4, 2023
Finds end zone in Week 13 loss
Bryant caught all five of his targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 36-19 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Joe Flacco leaned heavily on his tight ends in his first start of the season, but surprisingly it was Bryant who the veteran QB showed the most chemistry with and not David Njoku, who caught only two of six targets for 17 yards. Bryant set new season highs in catches, yards and targets Sunday and has found the end zone in back-to-back games. If Flacco gets another start in Week 14 against the Jaguars, the fourth-year TE will be an intriguing fantasy option.
Nov 27, 2023
Scores second TD
Bryant caught his lone target for a two-yard touchdown in Sunday's 29-12 loss to Denver in Week 12.
ANALYSIS
Bryant lined up in the backfield and found his way to an open space at the goal line to haul in quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson's (concussion) first career touchdown pass. It was Bryant's second touchdown of the season and first since Week 1. He's taken a serious step back behind David Njoku at tight end and has just 10 targets through 11 games. Bryant's knowledge of the system, however, keeps him relevant, and the Browns have used him in unique ways. Bryant's been used as a runner and wildcat quarterback, although he fumbled a snap as the quarterback in Sunday's loss.
Oct 22, 2023
Suiting up Sunday
Bryant (hip) is active for Sunday's game against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was never able to put in a full practice this week while managing the hip issue, but the Browns saw enough from him to give him the green light for Sunday. He'll likely continue to share backup tight end duties with Jordan Akins, with both players having logged double-digit snaps on offense behind starter David Njoku in three of the Browns' first five games of the season.
Oct 22, 2023
Likely to play Sunday
Bryant (hip) is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Colts, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant is officially listed as questionable for the contest after he sat out Wednesday's practice due to the hip injury before returning to the field as a limited participant Thursday and Friday. Assuming he's cleared in advance of Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, Bryant should step back in as the Browns' No. 2 tight end behind starter David Njoku.
Oct 20, 2023
Questionable for Sunday
Bryant (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Indianapolis, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was active for Week 6 versus San Francisco, but he'll go into the new weekend with a questionable tag. If he can't play in Week 7, Jordan Akins will probably see an uptick in snaps.
Oct 19, 2023
Gets in limited practice
Bryant (hip) was a limited participant at practice Thursday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant missed practice entirely Wednesday and took a positive step forward by managing limited participation Thursday. If he can practice in full Friday, he would likely avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend.
Oct 18, 2023
Missing practice Wednesday
Bryant (hip) will not participate at practice Wednesday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant played 25 offensive snaps in Sunday's win versus San Francisco, and it's not clear when he picked up the injury. Cleveland's injury reports Thursday and Friday will provide more context regarding his potential availability for Week 7.
Oct 2, 2023
Limited run in loss
Bryant caught his lone target for two yards and had one rushing attempt for two yards in Sunday's 28-3 loss to Baltimore in Week 4.
ANALYSIS
Bryant played a season-low 12 snaps, fewer than third-string tight end Jordan Akins, but usage patterns were skewed due to the blowout nature of the game. Bryant remains the top backup to starter David Njoku. Interestingly, the Browns dialed up a run for Bryant, the second straight week the tight end has been used a runner since losing Nick Chubb (knee) to a season-ending injury; he had two carries for four yards last week. The Browns are off Week 5.
Sep 25, 2023
Involved as runner
Bryant was not targeted and had two carries for four yards in Sunday's 27-3 win over Tennessee in Week 3.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland's first game without running back Nick Chubb provided rushing opportunities for a unlikely players. Bryant and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin each had turns as a runner. The tight end had one carry for the Browns last year and one in college at Florida Atlantic. Bryant had 25 snaps, once again fitting in between David Njoku (52) and Jordan Akins (25).
Sep 19, 2023
Foreboding start in loss
Bryant did not catch either of two targets in Monday's 26-22 loss to Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was involved in the Browns' ominous first play of the game. Quarterback Deshaun Watson's throw was catchable, if slightly off target, but Bryant couldn't secure the ball, which deflected into the hands of Steelers linebacker Alex Highsmith who returned it for a touchdown. Bryant (27 snaps) once again had more run than Jordan Akins (nine) and is firmly established as the backup to starter David Njoku. Bryant's been targeted twice in each of the first two games.
Sep 11, 2023
Finds paydirt in opener
Bryant caught both of his targets for five yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-3 win over the Bengals in Week 1.
ANALYSIS
Bryant caught quarterback Deshaun Watson's only touchdown pass, a surprising result given the offseason alternations to the team's wideout corps and the intended focus on a downfield approach to the passing game. Bryant's 27 snaps were second among the position group, behind David Njoku's 52 and ahead of Jordan Akins' 23. Speculation during the preseason focused on Akins' history with Watson in Houston, but it was Bryant, in his fourth season with the Browns, that emerged with more targets and time on field behind Njoku.
Aug 29, 2023
Returns to practice
Bryant (medical condition) returned to practice Tuesday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant missed the last few weeks due to a non-football health issue, but it was encouraging to see him back in action Tuesday. The 2020 fourth-rounder will now have a week and a half to work with the team during practice before the Browns' regular-season opener against the Bengals on Sept. 10.
Aug 25, 2023
Sitting out preseason finale
Bryant (medical condition) will not play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Chiefs, Doc Louallen of the Browns' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant hasn't played in preseason games but has been working diligently at practice on the side with trainers. Jordan Akins has been the primary backup to starting tight end David Njoku and would be considered second on the depth chart even if Bryant was available.
Aug 16, 2023
Expected to return soon
Bryant (undisclosed) is expected to return "pretty soon," Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant has been battling a non-football health issue. The tight end has spent some time on the sidelines during practices, but there's optimism that he'll soon join his teammates on the practice field and resume football activities.
Jul 30, 2023
Has good practice day
Bryant had his most active day as a receiver in training camp during Saturday's practice, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant's been active every day in camp but was extra involved as a receiver due to Jordan Akins being sidelined by a knee injury. His best effort was a sliding catch for 30 yards during a seven-on-seven drill. Bryant is slated to serve as the third tight end if Akins is healthy.
Mar 18, 2023
Competition coming
Bryant is expected to compete with the newly signed Jordan Akins as a backup to starter David Njoku, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
As reported by Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns signed Akins to a two-year deal Friday. He has familiarity with Watson from their time in Houston together, but Bryant's been in the Cleveland system for three years. Bryant, who enters the final year of his rookie deal, has received steady playing time since being drafted out of Florida Atlantic and modest contributor as a target.
Jan 10, 2023
Two catches in finale
Bryant caught two of two targets for 20 yards in a 28-14 loss to the Steelers in Week 18.
ANALYSIS
Bryant finished the season with season highs in catches (31), targets (42) and yards (239) along with one touchdown. An increase in production was expected after Browns didn't bring tight end Austin Hooper back, although Bryant was clearly second behind David Njoku, who lived up to the four-year deal he signed during the offseason. Cleveland's down season was not the fault of its receivers, so expect Bryant, who enters the final year of his rookie deal, to return in the same role for the 2023 season. The club is in "win now" mode after sinking much into quarterback Deshaun Watson, so expect the same crew of targets back next season, when the organization hopes to see its pricey quarterback live up to a hefty price tag.
Jan 2, 2023
Two catches in win
Bryant caught two of three targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 24-10 win over Washington in Week 17.
ANALYSIS
Bryant had his most active day as a receiver since Week 11. In the five games leading up to Week 17, Bryant totaled six targets, six catches and 30 yards. He remains a clear backup to David Njoku but could benefit in 2023 when quarterback Deshaun Watson has a full offseason to establish a rapport with all of Cleveland's receivers. In a positive sign that Watson is getting on the same page with the rest of the offense, he completed 6-of-10 passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns in the second half.
Dec 18, 2022
Catches two passes in win
Bryant caught two of two targets for seven yards in Saturday's 13-3 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Bryant remains a distant second on the tight end depth chart behind David Njoku. He has just six catches (six targets) for 30 yards over the last four games.
Dec 12, 2022
Targeted once in limited snaps
Bryant caught his lone target for eight yards in Sunday's 23-10 loss to the Bengals in Week 14.
ANALYSIS
Bryant played a season-low eight snaps, as tight end offense ran through a now-healthy David Njoku (69 snaps, nine targets). It's the second consecutive week with just one target for Bryant.
Dec 5, 2022
Two touches in win
Bryant caught his lone target for six yards and had one carry for eight yards in Sunday's 27-14 win over Houston in Week 13.
ANALYSIS
With starting tight end David Njoku sidelined by a knee injury, Week 13 was seen a potentially big spot for Harrison but it turned out to be less than anticipated. That's probably because the Browns started quarterback Deshaun Watson, who hadn't played a regular season game since 2020. The rust was evident, and Cleveland stuck to its run-heavy attack.
Dec 2, 2022
To cover for Njoku on Sunday
Bryant is in line to serve as the Browns' No. 1 tight end Sunday at Houston with David Njoku (knee) ruled out for the contest, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Njoku previously sat out Weeks 8 and 10 due to a sprained left ankle, which allowed Bryant to take on an elevated snap share in those two outings. Still, getting 72 and 76 percent of the offensive plays resulted in only three catches (on three targets) for 15 yards and a touchdown for Bryant during that span. As a result, he seemingly is a TD-dependent option, despite the upcoming increased workload.
Nov 27, 2022
Minimized role in win
Bryant caught two of two targets for nine yards in Sunday's 23-17 overtime victory over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Bryant's workload picked up while David Njoku missed two games and was slowed in his return last week from an ankle injury, but the starting tight end was back in form Sunday. That resulted in fewer snaps and looks for Bryant, who had 10 targets the last two games. With Deshaun Watson due back from his 11-game suspension next week at Houston, Bryant could see an uptick in production going forward.
Nov 21, 2022
Receives seven targets in loss
Bryant caught four of seven targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 31-23 loss to the Bills in Week 11.
ANALYSIS
Bryant once again led all tight ends in snaps (55, 73 percent), as position leader David Njoku (28, 37 (percent) returned from an ankle injury that cost him two games. Presumably, Njoku was eased into the rotation and could be back to normal for next week's home game against Tampa Bay.
Nov 14, 2022
Scores first TD
Bryant caught three of three targets for 15 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 39-17 loss to Miami in Week 10.
ANALYSIS
Bryant scored his first touchdown since Week 17 of 2021. The emergence of David Njoku (ankle) as a reliable threat in 2022 has diminished Bryant's opportunities, but he benefited from Njoku being inactive for a second straight game.
Nov 11, 2022
Set for top TE role again
Bryant is expected to serve as the Browns' top tight end Sunday against the Dolphins with David Njoku (ankle) ruled out for the contest.
ANALYSIS
Bryant played a season-high 74 percent of the snaps on offense in the first game Njoku missed in Week 8 against Cincinnati, but Bryant finished without a target in a game where the Browns attempted only 23 passes and used a sixth offensive lineman on more than one-third of their snaps. They also had Bryant block on seven of his 18 pass snaps, and it's possible he continues to do more blocking than Njoku did when he was healthy. Bryant could still have some value in deeper leagues, but it may only be for another week with his injured teammate hoping to return soon.
Nov 1, 2022
Untargeted in win
Bryant was not targeted among 53 snaps in Monday's 32-13 win over the Bengals in Week 8.
ANALYSIS
Bryant took on the role as the primary tight end, as David Njoku (ankle) was inactive for the game. Njoku is typically a key part of the passing attack, but Bryant wasn't needed for that Monday. That's largely due to the Browns playing according to plan. Cleveland had a season-high 44 rushing attempts and a season-low 23 passes. Bryant enters the bye week with 14 catches on 21 targets for 114 yards.
Oct 31, 2022
Filling in for Njoku
Bryant is slated to work as the Browns' top tight end Monday night against the Bengals, with David Njoku (ankle) inactive, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, Pharaoh Brown is in line to serve as the team's No. 2 tight end Monday, with practice squad elevation Miller Forristall also on hand. In Njoku's absence, Bryant - who has caught 14 passes (on 21 targets) for 114 yards in seven games to date -- is in line for an uptick in snaps and targets, making him an option for those looking to replace Njoku in Week 8 fantasy lineups.
Oct 24, 2022
Last tight end standing
Bryant caught two of two targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Ravens in Week 7.
ANALYSIS
By the fourth quarter, the Browns were down two tight ends and Bryant was the lone representative at the position. The bye week is not until Week 9, so the tight end room will be sparse to start preparations for Week 8 against the Bengals. Both David Njoku (ankle) and Pharaoh Brown (neck) couldn't finish the loss to Baltimore. Njoku tweeted he'll "be back soon," while Adam Schefter of ESPN reports a source stating the injury "isn't serious." Brown is being evaluated for a concussion, per Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal. Pending the health status of the injured players, Bryant could take on a larger role next week at home to resurgent Cincinnati.
Oct 16, 2022
Has three catches in loss
Bryant caught three of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 38-15 loss to New England in Week 6.
ANALYSIS
For the third time this season, Bryant recorded 18 receiving yards, and he's gained 99 through six weeks. He's playing second fiddle to David Njoku, who is experiencing a breakout season, and his 19 targets rank fourth on the team.
Oct 10, 2022
Targeted once in loss
Bryant did not catch his lone target in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Chargers in Week 5.
ANALYSIS
Bryant battled an illness during the week but was on the field for 57 percent of the offensive snaps. It's unlikely the illness had any impact on his targets. The second-string tight end has caught nine of 15 targets for 81 yards and has yet to score. Week 5 saw the introduction of newly signed tight end Pharaoh Brown, whose presence could eventually eat into Bryant's playing time. Brown played just two snaps Sunday.
Oct 7, 2022
Practices fully Friday
Bryant (illness) was a full participant in Friday's practice session and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was unable to practice Wednesday due to his illness, and he was limited Thursday. However, he won't be forced to miss any game action after logging a full practice session to close out the week. The 2020 fourth-rounder has secured nine of 14 targets for 81 yards to begin the season.
Oct 6, 2022
Returns to practice
Bryant (illness) was able to practice Thursday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant sat out practice Wednesday due to the illness, but he returned in some form Thursday. The Browns have not released their official practice report yet, so it's not clear if he was a limited or full participant. However, either would be a step in the right direction for the third-year tight end. With David Njoku (knee) and recent signee Pharaoh Brown (hip) both questionable for Sunday against the Chargers as well, Bryant could potentially find himself in a significant role, if he plays.
Oct 5, 2022
Dealing with illness
Bryant didn't practice Wednesday due to an illness, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant is coming off a season-high six targets in Week 4, so the timing of the aliment is unfortunate. The backup tight end will have two more practices to clear the issue before the team needs to make decision on his status for Week 5.
Oct 3, 2022
Gets regular looks
Bryant caught four of six targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to Atlanta in Week 4.
ANALYSIS
Bryant, who went untargeted Week 3 when he nursed thumb and thigh injuries, was back in the target rotation. His six looks were a season high, and Bryant has 14 targets (three in the red zone) over four games.
Sep 23, 2022
Handles regular workload
Bryant was not targeted over 34 offensive snaps in Thursday's 29-17 win over Pittsburgh in Week 3.
ANALYSIS
Bryant battled thumb and thigh injuries on the short week but managed to play 47% of the offensive snaps, which is his average through three games. Not targeting him may have been part of the plan to limit exposing Bryant to injury. That worked out well for primary tight end David Njoku, who broke out with nine catches (10 targets) for 89 yards and a touchdown.
Sep 21, 2022
Good to face Steelers
Bryant (thigh, thumb) does not have an injury designation for Thursday's game against Pittsburgh, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant practiced in full Wednesday, setting him up to take on the Steelers without issue. The No. 2 tight end secured three of four targets for 45 yards versus the Jets in Week 2, his second straight four-target contest.
Sep 20, 2022
Limited in practice
The Browns listed Bryant (thumb/thigh) as a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, Bryant was spotted riding a stationary bike off to the side during the open portion of Tuesday's session, but the tight end must have fit in some work behind the scenes in order to get bumped up from a non-participant on Monday's report. If Bryant can upgrade to full activity Wednesday, it could be enough for him to approach Thursday's game against the Steelers without an injury designation.
Sep 19, 2022
Nursing pair of injuries
Bryant is listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report with thumb and thigh injuries, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant is apparently banged up in the aftermath of the Browns' 31-30 loss to the Jets on Sunday, when he turned his four targets into three receptions for 45 yards across 31 snaps on offense. Though starter David Njoku has handily out-snapped him this season, Bryant holds the edge in targets (eight to six) through Cleveland's first two games.
Sep 19, 2022
Another four-target game
Bryant caught three of four targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 31-30 loss to the Jets in Week 2.
ANALYSIS
Bryant had four targets for the second consecutive week and has the edge over primary tight end David Njoku (six targets in two games) in that category. Each tight end has two red-zone targets but neither has yet to score in 2022.
Sep 18, 2022
Returns to game Sunday
Bryant (head) returned to Sunday's game against the Jets, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was ultimately able to make his way back onto the field after he previously exited to be evaluated for a concussion against the Jets. As a result, the 24-year-old should slot back in as the Brown's second option at tight end behind David Njoku.
Sep 18, 2022
Exits with possible concussion
Bryant (head) is being evaluated for a concussion during Sunday's game against the Jets, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant is likely questionable to return after he appears to have suffered a potential concussion at some point during Sunday's contest. With the No. 2 tight end sidelined for the time being, Jesse James should see a bigger role in Cleveland's offense versus Carolina.
Sep 12, 2022
More targets than Njoku
Bryant caught two of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 26-24 win over Carolina in Week 1.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was on the field for 38 snaps, nearly half that of starter David Njoku (71 snaps, one target), but came away as the target leader at tight end. Cleveland relied heavily on its running back tandem of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt for three-and-a-half quarters until the Panthers made it a closer game in the fourth, so pass catchers may not have a big role in game plans designed with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback. If the Browns dominate like they did during the first three-plus quarters, Brissett may fall between 20 and 25 attempts per game.
Aug 28, 2022
Grabs two passes
Bryant caught both targets for 15 yards in Saturday's preseason finale against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Both Bryant (14 snaps) and starting tight end David Njoku (29 snaps) had their most extensive use of the preseason. Once the regular season begins, each should be in the range of 50 snaps apiece.
Aug 21, 2022
Doesn't play Sunday
Bryant suited up but did not play in Sunday's preseason game against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Both Bryant and starting tight end David Njoku were stapled to the sidelines for the second preseason game. Each played in last week's opener at Jacksonville -- Bryant had four snaps and Njoku had nine.
Aug 1, 2022
Strong start to camp
Bryant is off to a strong start in training camp and looks ready to handle a greater load in 2022, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports. "He's been a very good player for us since he got here," Cleveland tight ends coach T.C. McCartney said. "He does a lot of things that do not show up on the stat sheet necessarily, but we expect him to take the next step, as well."
ANALYSIS
Bryant hauled in a few short passes Monday and was on the receiving end of a deep ball from Deshaun Watson on Saturday. With the Browns moving on from Austin Hooper during the offseason, Bryant is expected to pick up extra playing time behind starter David Njoku. It was only two seasons ago as a rookie that Bryant outplayed Njoku and earned more playing time than him.
Jan 11, 2022
Hopeful finish
Bryant caught one of three targets for nine yards in Week 18's 21-16 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Bryant saw his three-game touchdown streak end, but the second-year tight end had a pair of red-zone targets, giving him five looks inside the 20 over the final four weeks of the season. He didn't pop much in 2021, settling in as the third tight end, but he managed to post numbers similar to his mildly surprising rookie campaign of 2020, when he out-snapped veteran David Njoku. The three touchdowns in the final quarter of the season helped. Looking ahead to 2022, both he and starting tight end Austin Hooper are under contract and there's talk that the Browns will bring back Njoku. That would mean little change among the position group. If Njoku doesn't return, then Bryant takes on a larger role next season.
Jan 4, 2022
Scores in third straight game
Bryant caught his lone target for a one-yard touchdown reception in Monday's 26-14 loss to Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Bryant's managed to salvage his second NFL season with touchdowns in three consecutive contests. He and fellow tight end David Njoku accounted for both of Cleveland's touchdowns, giving the position group a team-high 10 touchdown catches in 2021. Cleveland involves its tight ends -- the group has 28 red zone looks, one fewer than wideouts and running backs combined -- so there's value to be had here. The issue becomes choosing the right one on gameday.
Dec 27, 2021
Finds end zone again
Bryant caught his lone target for a one-yard touchdown in Week 16's 24-22 loss to the Packers on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Bryant found space in the end zone for an easy touchdown catch, the second straight game with a score for the second-year tight end. The Browns' three-headed crew at tight end makes it hard to predict which of Bryant, Austin Hooper or David Njoku will be the one to step up for a fantasy team. Cleveland's tight ends have accounted for eight of the team's 17 passing scores.
Dec 23, 2021
Cleared after full practice
Bryant (ankle) practiced fully Thursday and doesn't carry an injury designation into Saturday's game against the Packers, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant opened the week with a pair of limited sessions but upgraded to full participation Thursday and should suit up Saturday. He caught a touchdown last week while Austin Hooper was on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but Bryant's expected to cede the majority of snaps to Hooper and David Njoku against Green Bay.
Dec 22, 2021
Another listed limited practice
Bryant (ankle) was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Unless Bryant is able to practice fully Thursday, he's likely to carry an injury designation ahead of Saturday's game against the Packers. However, unless David Njoku's listed knee issue is something that might affect his Week 16 status, Bryant's fantasy upside will be capped, given that Austin Hooper was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday.
Dec 21, 2021
Banged up after Week 15
Harrison (ankle) was estimated as limited on the Browns' injury report Tuesday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
The tight end came into Monday dealing with the ankle injury, ultimately playing in the loss to the Raiders. Bryant caught two passes for 11 yards and a touchdown in the contest, but his status for Saturday's game against the Packers may now be in question. Judging by the fact that he was able to play through the injury in Week 15, he seems more than likely to be available on Christmas day.
Dec 21, 2021
Hits paydirt in loss
Bryant caught two of two targets for 11 yards, including a six-yard touchdown catch in Monday's 16-14 loss to Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was touch-and-go during the practice week with an ankle injury but was needed amid a COVID-19 outbreak that made starting tight end Austin Hooper unavailable. His touchdown catch gave Cleveland a 14-13 lead with just under four minutes left. It was the first TD of the season for Bryant, who operated as the second tight end behind David Njoku. The second-year player out of Florida Atlantic has caught 18 of 23 targets for 222 yards over 13 games (17.1 YPG).
Dec 20, 2021
Active for Monday's game
Bryant (ankle) is listed as active for Monday's game against the Raiders, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Austin Hooper on the reserve/COVID-19 list, look for David Njoku to head the Browns' tight ends corps Monday. However, as long as his ankle holds up, Bryant -- who was inactive in Week 14 -- is a candidate to see targets from fill-in QB Nick Mullens, with Miller Forristall in reserve. In that context, Bryant profiles as a lineup option for those scrambling for a plug-in at this stage of the week.
Dec 16, 2021
Questionable for Week 15
Bryant (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Raiders, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant, who last suited up in Week 12, is bouncing back from a high ankle sprain, but the fact that he was able to get some work in during Thursday's practice gives him a chance to return to action this weekend. Meanwhile, fellow tight end Austin Hooper is currently on the reserve/COVID-19 list, while David Njoku was activated from the list Thursday.
Dec 14, 2021
Limited at Tuesday's walkthrough
Bryant (ankle) was listed as limited on Tuesday's practice estimate, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Kevin Stefanski relayed earlier Tuesday to Jake Trotter of ESPN.com that Bryant was poised to return to practice Wednesday. Tuesday's development sets up Bryant to do just that, and the timing couldn't be better as he puts a Week 12 high-ankle sprain further in the rearview mirror. The Browns currently have three tight ends -- Austin Hooper (illness), David Njoku (undisclosed) and Stephen Carlson (undisclosed/knee) -- on the reserve/COVID-19 list, meaning Bryant and Miller Forristall are the only tight ends available on the active roster.
Dec 14, 2021
May practice Wednesday
Bryant (ankle) is in line to return to practice Wednesday, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant suffered a high-ankle sprain Week 12 at Baltimore, but with the benefit of the Browns' ensuing bye week he's only missed one game so far due to the injury. If he gets back on the field Wednesday, the event will coincide nicely with Cleveland in the midst of a wave of players landing on the reserve/COVID-19 list. In his position group alone, Austin Hooper (illness), David Njoku (undisclosed) and Stephen Carlson (undisclosed) are on the list, leaving Bryant and Miller Forristall as the remaining TEs on the active roster.
Dec 8, 2021
Ruled out for Week 14
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski ruled Bryant (ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant sustained a high-ankle sprain Week 12 and was unable to practice Wednesday. Even though he had extra time to recover during Cleveland's Week 13 bye, the tight end will be forced to miss at least one game. However, Stefanski said that the Browns don't plan on placing Bryant on injured reserve, signaling that the team expects him to miss fewer than three contests.
Dec 8, 2021
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Bryant (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant suffered a high ankle sprain during the Browns' Week 12 loss to the Ravens, and he's unlikely to play in Week 14. Coming off the Week 13 bye, coach Kevin Stefanski said the team was still contemplating whether or not an IR stint would be necessary, so it doesn't appear like Bryant will be returning any time soon. If he is indeed out for the rematch against the Ravens, then Austin Hooper and Miller Forristall may be the only healthy tight ends on the active roster, as David Njoku and Stephen Carlson were both placed in COVID-19 protocols this week.
Dec 6, 2021
May move to IR
Bryant's high ankle sprain may still be a ways away from healing, as head coach Kevin Stefanski said it was "to be determined," when asked whether he would need to go on injured reserve Monday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant suffered the injury in the Browns' Week 12 loss to the Ravens. He was expected to be evaluated in a couple weeks, as the Browns are coming off their bye. Although third on the depth chart at tight end, the Browns feature them heavily, leaving Bryant as a steady contributor on offense. If Bryant isn't able to play Sunday in a rematch with the Ravens, it's hard to say who will step up, as their fourth tight end, Stephen Carlson, was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
Nov 29, 2021
Suffers high-ankle sprain
Bryant sustained a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Ravens, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Bryant will be re-evaluated in "a couple weeks" following his diagnosis. The 23-year-old racked up a season-high 50 yards on three receptions against Baltimore. He'll be able to recover during the Browns' Week 13 bye, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be available for the team's Week 14 matchup against the Ravens on Dec. 12.
Nov 29, 2021
Finishes second in receiving yards
Bryant caught three of three targets for 50 yards, including a team-high 41-yard catch, in Sunday's 16-10 loss to Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Bryant, who entered the contest with an average of 14.6 yards per game, finished second among all receivers in yards behind only Jarvis Landry (111 yards). It's not often that Bryant tops fellow tight ends Austin Hooper and David Njoku, and he's yet to score a touchdown in 2021. Cleveland is off Week 13 and will resume their schedule Week 14 against the Ravens.
Nov 22, 2021
Untargeted in win
Bryant was not targeted over 31 snaps in Sunday's 13-10 win over Detroit.
ANALYSIS
The Browns relied heavily on running back Nick Chubb, as quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder/knee/foot) was ineffective while playing through a number of injuries. That left few opportunities to be spread amongst the receiving corps. This was the third time in 11 games without a target for Bryant, and the fourth game without a catch. With just 18 targets through 11 contests, Bryant is well off the pace he set during his rookie 2020 season, when he was thrown to 38 times in 15 games.
Nov 15, 2021
Snags two passes in loss
Bryant caught both of his targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 45-7 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Bryant fought through a thigh injury for a second straight week and caught every ball thrown to him. He's caught all six targets the last three weeks, including his first red-zone target of the season against New England, but the Florida Atlantic product still seeks his first touchdown of the season. Cleveland's tight ends are responsible for four of the team's 10 receiving touchdowns with Austin Hooper and David Njoku securing two apiece.
Nov 12, 2021
Clears injury report Friday
Bryant (thigh) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's contest against the Patriots, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was limited at practices throughout the week, but he will be available Sunday. The 23-year-old tight end played through the injury in Week 9 and caught both of his targets for 26 yards during the 41-16 win.
Nov 10, 2021
Limited at Wednesday's practice
Bryant (thigh) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant played through the thigh issue during Sunday's win over the Bengals, catching both his targets for 26 yards, and he's still nursing the injury Wednesday. The 23-year-old should be able to avoid an injury designation for Week 10 if he's able to put in a full practice Thursday or Friday.
Nov 7, 2021
Plays through injury
Bryant caught two of two targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 41-16 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland's tight ends had a greater share of the targets in the first game following Odell Beckham's release, although the offensive game plan was, as usual, geared toward establishing the run. Bryant's production moves him to 11 receptions for 139 yards and zero touchdowns.
Nov 7, 2021
Suits up Sunday
Bryant (thigh) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Bryant is available for those in deeper fantasy formats, but his weekly ceiling is limited with Austin Hooper and David Njoku also in the team's tight end mix. Through eight games, he's logged a 9/117/0 stat line, including a two-catch, 33-yard effort in the Browns' loss to Pittsburgh last Sunday.
Nov 5, 2021
Availability in question Week 9
Bryant (thigh) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was added to the injury report Thursday as a limited participant, and his status for Sunday's contest remains up in the air. The 23-year-old caught two passes for 33 yards last week, which was his first multi-reception effort since Week 2 as he continues to work as Cleveland's No. 3 tight end.
Nov 4, 2021
Added to injury report
Bryant (thigh) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was added to the Browns' Week 9 injury report Thursday which suggest that he may have sustained an in-practice injury. Either way, Bryant's fantasy ceiling is limited with Austin Hooper and David Njoku also in the team's tight end mix.
Nov 1, 2021
Snags two balls Week 8
Bryant caught both of his targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 15-10 loss to Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
On a day when quarterback Baker Mayfield had issues connecting with wide receivers, Cleveland's tight ends picked up the slack. Bryant, Austin Hooper and David Njoku combined to catch nine of 11 targets. Bryant has nine catches on 14 targets for 117 yards without a score through eight contests.
Oct 22, 2021
First catch since Week 4
Bryant caught one of two targets for 15 yards in Thursday's 17-14 win over Denver.
ANALYSIS
After two consecutive weeks without being targeted, Bryant made his first catch since Week 4. Other than a spasm of activity in Week 2 against Houston, the second-year tight end has been quiet. He's had one or fewer catches in six of seven games played and is well off the pace of production he had during his rookie 2020 season.
Oct 18, 2021
Untargeted again
Bryant was not targeted in Sunday's 37-14 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Bryant played 17 snaps for a 29 percent share, both season lows. It was the second straight week without a target and third time in the last four weeks without a catch for the second-year tight end. He and David Njoku continue to share the backup duties behind starter Austin Hooper, but Njoku has played 70 snaps more than Bryant, reversing a 2020 trend.
Oct 4, 2021
Quiet in win
Bryant caught one of two targets for three yards in Sunday's 14-7 win over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
The Browns' offense sputtered when throwing the ball, which put a damper on a lot of targets. This was the third time in four games that Bryant's been thrown to just twice -- the second-year tight end has just two catches for 20 yards in those three games. In terms of snap count, he's become the clear third tight end behind David Njoku but is tied with Njoku at 10 targets.
Sep 27, 2021
Little impact Week 3
Bryant did not catch either of his two targets in Sunday's 26-6 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
The good news for Bryant is that he out-targeted fellow backup tight end David Njoku (zero targets) for a second straight week. The bad news is that his 33 snaps ranked third behind Njoku (50) in terms of snaps among the tight ends for a third consecutive week.
Sep 20, 2021
More attention Week 2
Bryant caught all four targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 31-21 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was a forgotten man Week 1, slipping behind David Njoku in terms of snaps and targets, but the second-year tight end was involved in the win over Houston. His first catch was a 29-yard grab that put the Browns in business at Houston's 6-yard-line, setting up their first score. In terms of snaps, Bryant (31) was on the field fewer times than Njoku (36), but he had the greater impact. The position group as a whole was more involved Week 2, leading the team in targets with 12, as wide receiver Jarvis Landry lasted only two plays before injuring his MCL. Landry joined the inactive Odell Beckham (knee) on the sidelines, leaving Cleveland without is top two receivers. Landry is expected to miss multiple games, and if Beckham's unable to play next Sunday against the Bears, the tight ends may be relied on once again.
Sep 13, 2021
Targeted twice in opener
Bryant caught one of two targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 33-29 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Bryant emerged as the second tight end ahead of David Njoku in 2020, but the roles were reversed in the season opener. Close watchers of the Browns training camp and preseason were expecting this, but it became noticeable Week 1, when Njoku (35 snaps) nearly doubled those of Bryant, who was on the field for 19 offensive snaps.

Will play Week 1
Bryant is active for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, according to Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site.
ANALYSIS
Bryant makes the active roster for the season opener, but he is behind both Austin Hooper and David Njoku on the depth chart. As a result, he's not expected to have a big role in the Browns' passing attack Sunday.
Aug 23, 2021
Sits out Sunday
Bryant did not play in Sunday's 17-13 win over the Giants in Preseason Week 2, Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
A healthy Bryant played the preseason opener last week against the Jaguars but got the night off Sunday. He joined Austin Hooper and David Njoku on the no-play list, while Connor Davis and Jordan Franks were given a lot of run at tight end. The Browns also deployed fullback Johnny Stanton at tight end. With Stephen Carlson (knee) expected to miss multiple months, perhaps the entire season, the Browns will need a fourth tight end.

Adds weight
Bryant added mass to his body during the offseason, Anthony Poisal and Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site report.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was a 230-pounder as a rookie and noted the challenge when lining up against muscular defensive ends, so he wanted to added bulk to become a better blocker. He's pushing 245 pounds in this camp, and it's made him less overmatched as a blocker. Of course, technique matters when it comes to blocking, and that's an area he's focused on in camp. The added mass provides another benefit, this one as a receiver, as he showed during Thursday's session when he caught a contested ball. Bryant enters Saturday's preseason opener third on the unofficial depth chart behind Austin Hooper and David Njoku.
Aug 10, 2021
Third on depth chart
Bryant is listed as the third tight end on Cleveland's unofficial depth chart.
ANALYSIS
Bryant played more than David Njoku (shoulder) in 2020, but the Browns are leaning toward Njoku as the top backup to starter Austin Hooper. At least that was case until Njoku missed Tuesday's practice with a shoulder injury, paving the way for Bryant to get more practice reps, as the team prepares for its first preseason game Saturday against Jacksonville.

Scores in two-minute drills
Bryant caught a 39-yard pass from Case Keenum during Cleveland's two-minute drill practice session Sunday, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland's second team offense had a banner day against the first-team defense in the two-minute drills, largely due to their tight ends. Bryant, who had multiple touchdown catches during the entire practice session, caught his two-minute drill touchdown on a post route, then David Njoku leapt for a one-yard touchdown grab on a fade route. It was a look into the riches the Browns have at tight end, as both Bryant and Njoku are behind starter Austin Hooper.

Jan 17, 2021
Quiet in playoffs
Bryant had one target in Sunday's 22-17 playoff loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Bryant finishes the season with zero catches and one target in Cleveland's two playoff games. The rookie shared a role with veteran David Njoku all season behind starter Austin Hooper, but Bryant ended up with more targets (38), catches (24), yards (238) and touchdowns (three) than Njoku (29-19-213-2) during the regular season. All three tight ends are expected to return in 2021, so there's not much space of Bryant to grow those numbers.
Jan 11, 2021
Untargeted in return
Bryant was not targeted in Sunday's 48-37 wild-card win over Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Bryant returned to action for the playoffs after missing the regular-season finale while on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The rookie played 22 snaps, one more than fellow backup David Njoku, but both players paled in comparison to Austin Hooper, who had a team-high 11 targets over 60 snaps. The Browns move to the AFC divisional round next Sunday to play Kansas City, a defense that ranked 28th in yards allowed to opposing tight ends (59.6 YPG).
Jan 9, 2021
Activated off COVID list
Bryant was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The Browns got back a number of players ahead of their Sunday playoff game against the Steelers including the 2020 fourth-round pick. Bryant has picked up a decent amount of playing time as the No. 2 tight end behind Austin Hooper throughout the season but it hasn't translated into a ton of production. In his lone contest against the Steelers in Week 6, Bryant played just 37 percent of the offensive snaps and caught one of his two targets for 11 yards.
Dec 31, 2020
Out Week 17 after positive test
Bryant won't be available for Sunday's game against the Steelers after testing positive for COVID-19, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland had already moved Bryant to the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday after the tight end was deemed to be a close contact of an infected person or persons. Upon undergoing additional testing while in isolation the past couple of days, Bryant was determined to have contracted the virus. He'll thus remain away from the team for the regular-season finale, though Bryant could have a chance to gain clearance for a potential wild-card playoff game, should the Browns earn a postseason berth. Cleveland will proceed with David Njoku and Stephen Carlson as its depth options at tight end behind Austin Hooper in Week 17.
Dec 29, 2020
Deemed close contact
Bryant (reserve/COVID-19) is considered a close contact with someone outside the Browns' organization that tested positive for the virus, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was placed on the list Tuesday, joining wide receivers Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, KhaDarel Hodge and Donovan Peoples-Jones. All five players are still eligible to play in this week's season finale against Pittsburgh, if they continue to test negative. The wideouts can return as early as Thursday while Saturday is the earliest Bryant can come off the list. The Browns can clinch a playoff spot with a win.
Dec 29, 2020
Shifts to COVID-19 list
Bryant was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Bryant either contracted the virus or came into close contact with someone who did. If he's merely a close contact, he'll be eligible to play in the season finale against Pittsburgh as long as he continues to test negative. The rookie fourth-round pick joins wide receivers Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, KhaDarel Hodge and Donovan Peoples-Jones -- all deemed close contacts -- on the reserve list.
Dec 28, 2020
Season high targets
Bryant caught three of a season-high seven targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland's tight ends took on an extra workload as the top four wide receivers were placed on the COVID-19 list and unavailable. The position group combined for 26 targets, smashing the previous season high of 12. Bryant and the rest of the tight ends could be back to normal next week. The wideouts, who are considered close contacts of a teammate that tested positive, will spend at least five days on the list. The group could return in time to practice and get ready for Week 17 against the Steelers.
Dec 21, 2020
Back to normal with Hooper back
Bryant caught two of two targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 20-6 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The tight end position group welcomed back Austin Hooper, who returned from a neck injury that forced him to miss Week 14, and that reduced the targets allotted to Bryant. The rookie was the target leader among tight ends last week with six, followed by a more normal two targets this week with a returning Hooper. All Cleveland tight ends see potential in Week 15 against the Jets, who rank last in fantasy points allowed to tight ends.
Dec 15, 2020
Leading TE target
Bryant caught three of a season-high six passes for 18 yards in Monday's 47-42 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Bryant and fellow tight end David Njoku picked up more playing time with Austin Hooper (neck) on the shelf. Each played significantly with Bryant's 55 snaps slightly outpacing Njoku's 51. It was just the second time in the last five games that Bryant, who has had some fumble issues, has been targeted. Hooper's neck injury is not considered serious, so he could return for Week 15 on the road against the Giants on Sunday night.
Dec 14, 2020
Getting starting nod for Week 14
Bryant is expected to start at tight end Monday night against the Ravens with Austin Hooper (neck) having been ruled out for Week 14, Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant had earned six consecutive starts coming into Week 14, though Hooper's confirmed absence clears the fourth-round rookie for a more vital passing-downs role. The Florida Atlanta product reeled in four passes for 56 yards and two TDs during a Week 7 matchup against the Bengals while Hooper was recuperating from a removed appendix.
Dec 7, 2020
Untargeted in win
Bryant was not targeted in Sunday's 41-35 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Bryant went untargeted Sunday,, one week after he lost his second fumble of the season; however, it's unlikely that miscue led to a lack of involvement against Tennessee. Sunday's game was the third in the last four that the rookie was untargeted. Bryant has fallen off the radar during the second half of the season, going from 2.6 targets per game over the first eight games to 0.5 over the last four contests.
Nov 30, 2020
Fumbles in win
Bryant caught one of two targets for 13 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 27-25 win over Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
The good news for Bryant is that he snapped a two-game run without a target, but his fumble on the first play of the second half led to a go-ahead touchdown. The entire tight end group has experienced a drop in targets, coinciding with the return of running back Nick Chubb three weeks ago. Cleveland has a 62-to-38 percent split in run/pass over the last three games, which has resulted in just 13 tight end targets during that span. And nine of those targets belong to starter Austin Hooper. That run/pass mix will likely continue in Week 13 against Tennessee; however, the Titans present a favorable matchup for Bryant, ranking seventh in the NFL with seven touchdowns allowed to opposing tight ends.
Nov 23, 2020
Untargeted for second straight week
Bryant was not officially targeted while playing 58 percent of the snaps in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was thrown to once -- an incomplete target in the red zone -- but the play was negated due to a defensive pass interference call. So officially, Bryant went untargeted for a second straight week. That drop in targets dovetails with Cleveland pounding defenses with its running backs, a trend that should continue as the weather becomes more wintry. The Browns are next-to-last in the NFL in pass attempts and last in completions. That doesn't leave much space for a player like Bryant, who's played nearly 57 percent of the offensive snaps in 2020.
Nov 17, 2020
Untargeted against Texans
Bryant did not garner a single target over 36 offensive snaps during Sunday's 10-7 win against Houston.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland only elected to put the ball in the air 20 times Sunday, pounding the rock on 41 occasions to the tune of 5.6 team yards per carry. Given the low-volume passing script, Harrison endured his second no-catch showing of the 2020 campaign and his second consecutive outing of 25 or fewer receiving yards. The rookie's 56-yard, two-touchdown Week 8 output against the Raiders appears to be somewhat of an anomaly, as the Browns head into a Week 11 matchup against the Eagles' sixth-ranked pass defense.
Nov 1, 2020
Quiet following Week 7 breakout
Bryant reeled in all three of his targets for 25 receiving yards during Sunday's 16-6 loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Bryant did finish as the No. 2 leading option among Cleveland pass-catchers Sunday, but unfortunately that performance came on a day in which the Browns mustered only 122 yards through the air with no touchdowns. The fourth-round rookie established a career high with 56 receiving yards last Sunday against the Bengals, notching two touchdowns in a 37-34 win. He was thrust into starting position for a second consecutive game this week as Austin Hooper (appendix) sat out again, but the two-time Pro Bowler will be afforded the Browns' Week 9 bye to rest up from an Oct. 23 appendectomy.
Oct 30, 2020
Set for another start
Bryant's set to reprise his role as Cleveland's top tight end Sunday against the Raiders, as Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram reports that Austin Hooper (appendix) has been ruled out.
ANALYSIS
Bryant scored two touchdowns in Hooper's first absence of the season last week against the Bengals, and he figures to once again serve as an important piece of a Cleveland passing attack that will be missing wide receiver Odell Beckham (knee) in addition to Hooper. Fellow tight end David Njoku, who also found the end zone last week, should also see the field more as a result of Hooper's absence.
Oct 25, 2020
Scores twice as top tight end
Bryant caught four of five targets for 56 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 37-34 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Bryant took advantage of the extra opportunities created by Austin Hooper's (appendix) absence. He scored a three-yard touchdown to tie the game at 10 apiece in the second quarter, then tied it up at 17-all with a six-yard score in the third. With Hooper's appendectomy expected to keep him out through the Week 9 bye, Hooper and the disgruntled David Njoku, who also caught a touchdown, are both poised to keep playing expanded roles at tight end against the Raiders in Week 8.
Oct 25, 2020
Filling in for Hooper
Bryant is slated to start at tight end for the Browns in Sunday's game against the Bengals, with Austin Hooper (appendix) sidelined, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
While Bryant is in line to get the Week 7 starting nod, David Njoku should also see his share of snaps Sunday, especially in two tight end sets. A possible time-share on that front thus limits the bankable fantasy ceiling of each player, but Bryant is an option for those in need of a replacement for Hooper or as a bye-week plug in.
Oct 23, 2020
Work to pick up sans Hooper
Bryant is expected to handle an increased role Sunday against the Bengals after top tight end Austin Hooper was ruled out for the contest following an emergency appendectomy, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While the Browns had both Hooper and David Njoku available in the past two games, Bryant drew his two lowest offensive snap shares of the season, playing 40 and 37 percent of the snaps in Weeks 5 and 6, respectively. With Hooper out of the mix for at least one game, Bryant and Njoku will likely split time at the position, as neither dramatically exceeded the other in terms of snaps the past two weeks. Even with a decent matchup on tap, Bryant is still probably best suited for fantasy leagues that start two tight ends.
Oct 19, 2020
Plays less than Njoku
Bryant caught one of two targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 38-7 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Bryant remains part of the Browns' three-headed tight end rotation, but Week 6 was the first time he had a lower share of snaps (37 percent) than David Njoku (40 percent). The consensus entering the season was that Njoku would sit second behind starter Austin Hooper, but a knee injury limited him over the first five weeks and raised Bryant's profile. Bryant has just three targets over the last two weeks.
Oct 12, 2020
Playing time drops
Bryant had one target in Sunday's 32-23 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Bryant's claim as the top backup to starter Austin Hooper came to an end Sunday, as David Njoku returned from a knee injury. While Bryant (29) had more snaps than Njoku (21), his playing time dropped from the 41 snaps he averaged while Njoku was on injured reserved the last three weeks.
Oct 6, 2020
Competition returns
Bryant will have more competition for playing time, as the Browns anticipate David Njoku (knee) returning Week 5, Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant has filled in the last three weeks while Njoku recovered from a sprained MCL. Bryant and Njoku will compete for playing time behind (and along with) primary tight end Austin Hooper in Cleveland's multi-TE attack. It's unknown how the deployment will shake itself out, as the only time all three were active was Week 1 when Njoku left in the third quarter. One thing that became clear during Njoku's absence is that Browns are confident Bryant can handle the workload, so it's not a given the veteran Njoku will step in as the top backup.
Oct 5, 2020
Four catches in win
Bryant caught four of four targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 49-38 win over Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Bryant's usage has increased each game since the season opener, which is partly due to David Njoku's knee injury. It's also due to the maturity be brings to the position -- the Browns trust him to do his job on each play. The rookie has at least one target and catch in all four games. Cleveland's tight ends had their most productive day, as Bryant and Austin Hooper combined for nine catches on 11 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown. Until Njoku returns, Bryant remains the top backup to Hooper.
Sep 28, 2020
Scores first NFL touchdown
Bryant caught one of two targets for three yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-20 win over Washington in Week 3.
ANALYSIS
Bryant's touchdown catch, the first of his NFL career, proved to be the game-winning score for the Browns, who fought back from two deficits in the game. Bryant has one catch in all three games played while getting much experience in the wake of David Njoku's knee injury. His 40 snaps and 63 percent of the offensive plays were season highs for the rookie.
Sep 18, 2020
Greater share of snaps Week 2
Bryant caught one of two targets for 14 yards and played 30 snaps (52 percent) in Thursday's 35-30 win over the Bengals in Week 2.
ANALYSIS
Bryant played one less snap Thursday than he did Week 1, but the rookie had a greater share of the total, going from 42 to 52 percent. As expected, his usage increased with David Njoku (knee) on injured reserve. Although that was tempered by the increase in snaps for fullback Andy Janovich, who went from nine snaps Week 1 to 22 on Thursday. Bryant has two catches, four targets and 19 yards after two games.
Sep 14, 2020
Benefits from Njoku injury
With the Browns placing David Njoku on injured reserve Monday, Bryant should see an increase in playing time.
ANALYSIS
Njoku will be out for at least three weeks, which gives Bryant a lot of exposure beginning Week 2 at home against the Bengals on Thursday. The rookie's 31 snaps in a Week 1 loss to the Ravens were second among four tight ends that played. The entire position group combined to play 116 snaps, so the offense is geared to playing multiple tight ends. Austin Hooper, who played 77 percent of the snaps Week 1, could also see an increase.
Sep 13, 2020
Targeted twice in loss
Bryant caught one of two targets for five yards in Sunday's 38-6 loss to the Ravens in Week 1.
ANALYSIS
Both of Bryant's targets were in the first quarter, including his lone catch on the second play of the game, so the Browns appear to be confident in the rookie fourth-round pick. He began the day third on the depth chart, but could see an uptick in playing time after David Njoku departed with a knee injury. The Browns have a quick turnaround, playing Thursday night against the Bengals, which might be too quick for a Njoku return.
Sep 1, 2020
Voted top rookie at camp
Bryant was named the winner of Cleveland's 2020 Maurice Basset award for the best rookie at training camp, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie fourth-round pick has made the most of his opportunities in training camp, especially when David Njoku logged a three-day absence due to a wrist injury and Bryant was called upon to step up. New coach Kevin Stefanski stands run a substantial amount of two-tight end sets this season, so Bryant could see a respectable amount of reps despite operating behind Austin Hooper and Njoku on the depth chart. If Bryant is able to carry his momentum from camp into the regular season he could even pressure Njoku, but the Florida Atlantic product still faces a steep path to fantasy relevance as a rookie.
Aug 27, 2020
Filling in for Njoku
Bryant has received practice snaps in place of the injured David Njoku (wrist), Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant has stood out in camp both with his play on the field and with his ability to grasp the offense. "He is a very locked-in young man," head coach Kevin Stefanski told Scott Patsko of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "He is on top of his assignments. He plays with great effort. Very pleased with where he is. He has a ton of work to do. Everything that he is doing is happening for the first time for him, but pleased with his progression." The consensus entering the regular season is that Bryant will sit behind Austin Hooper and Njoku on the depth chart, but the 2020 fourth-round pick out of Florida Atlantic could eventually push for more playing time.
Aug 19, 2020
Has strong Wednesday
Bryant caught a pair of touchdown passes during drills Wednesday, Dan Labbe of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
The Browns are giving Bryant a good look early in camp, and he's setting himself up for longer looks as camp wears on. The 2019 John Mackey Award winner can play off the line, something he did often at Florida Atlantic and the Browns want to do with their tight ends. Bryant's currently third on the depth chart but will be pushing David Njoku in camp.
May 12, 2020
Played multiple positions at FAU
Bryant played four positions during his four years in college, Ellis L. Williams of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant is primarily a tight end, if an undersized one, but has experience at H-back, split out wide and in the slot. The fourth-round pick out of Florida Atlantic University could line up at multiple spots, similar to Minnesota's Irv Smith, the 2019 second-round pick who served as a second tight end under then-VIkings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski. He caught 36 of 47 targets, one target fewer than No. 1 tight end Kyle Rudolph, while scoring two touchdowns for the Vikes. Bryant will have a slightly more crowded position group in Cleveland, which will have Austin Hooper and David Njoku as the top two tight ends.
