Two catches in win
Dotson caught a pair of passes for 43 yards in Sunday's 16-9 victory over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Dotson's second catch of the day, a 34-yard reception down the sideline after Jalen Hurts was forced out of the pocket, helped dig the Eagles out of tough field position on their own four yard line late in the fourth quarter. He's made the occasional key play for the Eagles this season and is averaging an impressive 19.4 yards per catch, but he's caught a total of just 10 passes in 10 games. Sunday's contest marked just the second time all year that he's caught multiple passes.
Nov 11, 2025
Third zero-catch game of 2025
Dotson failed to pull in his lone target in Monday's 10-7 victory over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Dotson finished with zero catches for the second time in three games and the third time all year. He also saw the field for just 19 offensive snaps, his lowest total in two seasons as an Eagle. He has fewer receptions (eight) than games played (nine) this season.
Oct 26, 2025
Gets into end zone Sunday
Dotson made one catch on two targets for a 40-yard touchdown in Sunday's 38-20 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Even with A.J. Brown (hamstring) ruled out, Dotson didn't see a significant increase in his role, but he made his opportunities count by hauling in Jalen Hurts' fourth TD of the day in the fourth quarter. The Eagles will get a Week 9 bye, which may give Brown enough time to get back onto the field, but if he remains sidelined in Week 10 against the Packers, Dotson could have some deep-league appeal.
Oct 20, 2025
No catches in Week 7
Dotson was not targeted a single time in Sunday's 28-22 win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Jalen Hurts through for a season-high 326 yards, but Dotson wasn't able to benefit. Devonta Smith and A.J. Brown combined for 304 of those yards, leaving even less than usual for the rest of Hurts' potential targets. Dotson has averaged one catch per game through seven games this season.
Oct 10, 2025
One catch again
Dotson caught one of his two targets for 17 yards in Thursday's loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
One catch has become Dotson's typical stat line for the Eagles. He's finished with exactly one reception in four of six games this season and finished with exactly one catch in eight regular season games last year.
Oct 7, 2025
Catches one pass
Dotson caught one pass for 24 yards in Sunday's loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Dotson was on the field for 71 percent of the Eagles' offensive snaps, his second-highest snap share of the year, but it didn't result in a significant role. He's now been held to one or fewer catch in 19 of his 23 regular season games with the Eagles over the last two years.
Sep 30, 2025
No catches in Week 4
Dotson was not targeted a single time in Sunday's 31-25 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Dotson has rarely recorded more than one catch in a game during his two seasons with the Eagles, and he didn't even reach that low threshold Sunday. He's now been blanked seven times in 21 regular season games with the team.
Sep 24, 2025
Another one-catch game
Dotson caught one of his three targets for seven yards in Sunday's 33-26 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
After finishing Week 1 with three catches for 59 yards, Dotson has just one reception in both of the last two weeks. He did play a season-high 49 offensive snaps against the Rams, likely due to the fact that the Eagles were trailing for most of the game, but that didn't result in a large number of targets.
Sep 15, 2025
Just one catch in Week 2
Dotson was held to one catch for four yards in Sunday's win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Dotson was the Eagles' leading receiver in Week 1, catching three passes for 59 yards, but his Week 2 performance is probably more in line with what can be expected going forward. Outside of a Week 18 game in which the Eagles rested their starters, Dotson averaged less than a catch per game last year, and with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith still ahead of him on the depth chart, that's unlikely to change.
Sep 5, 2025
Leading receiver in Week 1 win
Dotson caught all three of his targets for 59 yards in Thursday's 24-20 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Most of Dotson's production came on a 51-yard catch in the second quarter, which was enough to make him the team's leading receiver in the run-heavy Week 1 win. DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown combined for just 24 yards on four targets. Those two will likely be more involved moving forward at Dotson's expense, but at least Dotson seems to have a firm grasp on the third spot on the wide receiver depth chart over trade acquisition John Metchie, who wasn't targeted Thursday.
Aug 7, 2025
Catches two passes
Dotson caught both of his targets for 27 yards in Thursday's preseason game against Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com notes that Dotson and RG Tyler Steen were the only projected starters on offense to play for Philadelphia. It's not where Dotson imagined he'd be when Washington took him 16th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, but he at least did his part to help Philly's second-string offense score a TD against Cincinnati's first -string defenders. The No. 3 WR role in Philadelphia isn't one where snaps are likely to translate to many targets, unless maybe the Eagles are missing a couple of their skill-position standouts (A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley, Dallas Goedert). The good news for Dotson is that he looks like the leader for the No. 3 job again, ahead of Johnny Wilson, Terrace Marshall (knee), Ainias Smith and others.
Mar 6, 2025
Handles No. 3 receiver role in 2024
Dotson secured 19 of 33 targets for 216 yards across 17 regular-season games with the Eagles in 2024. He also rushed once for 13 yards.
ANALYSIS
Dotson played a sizeable 649 offensive snaps during the regular season for Philadelphia, working in a No. 3 receiver role behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. His most impactful game of the season game during the Eagles' win over Kansas City in Super Bowl LIX, with two catches for 42 yards on three targets. The 2022 first-round pick looks set to reprise a similar role for the 2025 season, though with all of Brown, Smith, running back Saquon Barkley and tight end Dallas Goedert pushing for opportunities on offense, he seems likely to again end up on the outside looking in for fantasy purposes.
Jan 13, 2025
Opens scoring in playoff win
Dotson reached the end zone for the first time as an Eagle in Sunday's wild-card win over the Packers, finishing with one catch for an 11-yard score.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles got off to a quick start in their 22-10 win, forcing a fumble on the opening kickoff and scoring just three plays later on 2nd-and-9 from the 11. Jalen Hurts had nearly seven seconds in the pocket and found Dotson wide open at the back of the end zone for the wideout's first score since Week 11 of the 2023 season. The rest of the game was more typical for Dotson's time in Philadelphia, as he received just one more target and no more interceptions.
Jan 5, 2025
Nearly hits century mark Sunday
Dotson caught seven of 11 targets for 94 yards in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Working as the Eagles' No. 1 receiver while A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith were rested ahead of the playoffs, Dotson had by far his best game of the year, and his most productive day since he erupted for an 8-108-1 line in Week 8 last season against Philly as a member of the Commanders. Dotson hadn't even caught a pass since Week 14 prior to his Week 18 breakout however, and he'll likely return to being an afterthought in the Eagles' passing game next weekend in the wild-card round against the Packers.
Dec 30, 2024
Third straight zero-catch game
Dotson was not targeted a single time in Sunday's 41-7 blowout win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Dotson has now gone without a catch in three straight contests and has earned a total of just one target over that stretch. His role could expand in Week 18 if the Eagles rest their starters with nothing left to play for, but he'll need five catches if he's even to reach one catch per game on the season. He has 12 receptions in 16 contests thus far.
Dec 23, 2024
Zero catches again
Dotson finished with zero catches for the second straight week Sunday against the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Dotson's two chances at a revenge game this season have led to a combined one catch for eight yards. To be fair to Dotson, the Eagles leaned heavily on the run Sunday after Jalen Hurts exited early with a concussion, completing a total of just 15 passes. All but one of those went to A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith.
Dec 16, 2024
No catches in Week 15
Dotson finished with zero receptions on one target in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
The game ended a streak of six straight contests in which Dotson recorded exactly one catch. The Eagles' passing game was the primary story surrounding the team during the week, and Jalen Hurts responded with a strong performance, going 25-of-32 for 290 yards and two touchdowns, but as usual, nearly all of his looks went to his top two wideouts. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith each saw double-digit targets, while the rest of the team combined for just eight.
Dec 10, 2024
One grab in win
Dotson caught one of his two targets for five yards in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Week 14 marked the sixth straight game in which Dotson has caught just one pass. The third-year wideout played 24 of the Eagles 58 offensive snaps, the lowest snap share of any Philadelphia wide receiver in the contest behind A.J. Brown (55), Devonta Smith (52) and Johnny Wilson (29). With such limited playing time in a run-heavy offensive scheme, Dotson remains off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 15 matchup against the Steelers.
Dec 2, 2024
Fifth straight one-catch game
Dotson caught one pass for seven yards in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Even with DeVonta Smith (hamstring) out of action, Dotson failed to make much of an impact, finishing with precisely one catch for the fifth straight game. The Eagles found more success on the ground than through the air, completing just 11 passes on the day.
Nov 26, 2024
Continues one-catch streak
Dotson caught one pass for four yards in Sunday's 37-20 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Dotson has now caught exactly one pass in four straight games. His yardage on his lone reception has decreased each week, going from 36 to 27 to eight to four. Expect a single reception for roughly one yard next week if the pattern continues.
Nov 15, 2024
One catch again
Dotson finished with one catch for eight yards in Thursday's win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Dotson has now finished with exactly one catch for three straight games. That's technically better than average for him this season, as he's caught nine passes through 10 games, an average of 0.9 per contest.
Nov 11, 2024
One long catch again
Dotson finished with one catch for 27 yards in Sunday's 34-6 win at Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Jalen Hurts found Dotson deep down the right sideline early in the second quarter but did not look his way the rest of the game. It's the second straight week in which Dotson has finished with a single long reception. He's totaled 98 yards on eight catches in nine games played this season.
Nov 4, 2024
Catches one long pass
Dotson made a spectacular catch for a 36-yard gain early in the third quarter of Sunday's win over the Jaguars but was not targeted any other time.
ANALYSIS
A.J. Brown left with a knee injury shortly before halftime, and Dotson received his one opportunity of the game shortly after the break, reaching over Tyson Campbell's back on a long pass down the left and tipping the ball up to himself to make the grab. Jalen Hurts didn't look Dotson's way again the rest of the game, however, and his workload may be limited again in Week 10 against the Cowboys if Brown's injury proves minor. Brown's tests came back clean after the game and he appears to have a real chance to return without missing any time, but that's not yet guaranteed.
Oct 28, 2024
No catches in Week 8
Dotson was not targeted a single time in Sunday's 37-17 win over Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles prioritized the run on Sunday, especially after opening up a second-half lead, with Jalen Hurts attempting just 20 passes. As usual, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith soaked up most of the targets, with other Eagles combining for just six, none of which went to Dotson. The third-year wideout has just six catches in seven games this season.
Oct 21, 2024
No catches in big win
Dotson finished with zero catches on one target in Sunday's 28-3 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles were in control for most of the game and had enough success on the ground (269 yards) that they barely needed to use the passing game, with Jalen Hurts throwing for just 114 yards on 14 attempts. The Eagles rested their starters in the fourth quarter, and while that meant more time on the field for Dotson, the team continued to rely on the ground game, with backup quarterback Kenny Pickett attempting just a single pass.
Oct 14, 2024
Retreats to third on depth chart
Dotson had just one catch for 10 yards on three targets in Sunday's 20-16 in over the Browns. He also rushed once for 13 yards.
ANALYSIS
Dotson wasn't able to carve out a significant role in the Eagles' offense when injuries to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith elevated him to a starting spot earlier in the season, so it's no surprise to see his role remain small now that those two are healthy again. Dotson has a total of seven touches for 48 yards and no touches through five games this season.
Oct 1, 2024
Just two catches as No. 1 receiver
Dotson was targeted four times in the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Bucs, finishing with two catches for 11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Dotson was expected to see an expanded role as the team's top wideout in the absence of A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion), and while he did indeed see a season-high number of targets, it's hard to say he made much of an impact. The Eagles have a bye in Week 5, buying Brown and Smith an extra week to recover and push Dotson back down the depth chart.
Sep 29, 2024
Serving as top wideout Sunday
Dotson is in line to serve as the Eagles' No. 1 receiver for Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Buccaneers with both A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion) ruled out for the contest.
ANALYSIS
Dotson has shown very little over the last two games despite Brown's absence, and he's produced just a 3-14 line on five targets over his first three regular-season contests overall. However, the combination of Dotson's speed, the fact he's had another week to acclimate to the Eagles' playbook following his late-August arrival via trade with the Commanders, and the expansive void the absences of Brown and Smith create could represent the perfect storm of opportunity and circumstances for Dotson to thrive versus what's been an inconsistent and still short-handed Buccaneers secondary.
Sep 24, 2024
Starts again, just two catches
Dotson served a starting role in Week 3 against the Saints but had just two catches for eight yards on three targets.
ANALYSIS
Dotson again filled a larger role with A.J. Brown (hamstring) unavailable, but Jalen Hurts wound up giving double-digit targets to both Dallas Goedert and DeVonta Smith and no more than four to anyone else. Smith suffered a concussion late in Monday's game, so if both he and Brown wind up missing Week 4 against the Bucs, it's possible Dotson could see an expanded target share.
Sep 17, 2024
Just one catch Monday
Dotson had one reception on as many targets in Monday's 22-21 loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Dotson was expected to see an increased role with star wideout A.J. Brown (hamstring) missing Monday's contest due to injury. The opposite scenario unfolded in a contest where the Eagles ran for more yards than the offense passed for against Atlanta's defense. Brown's injury is already expected to cost the No. 1 receiver multiple weeks of action, opening the door for auxiliary options like Dotson to see increased roles (despite Monday's one-catch dud). Dotson should remain in play for deep-league managers against the Saints on Sunday.
Sep 15, 2024
Should see added work Monday
Dotson is expected to assume a larger role in the Eagles' passing attack Monday against the Falcons with A.J. Brown (hamstring) downgraded to out, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson logged 32 snaps behind Brown (72 snaps) and DeVonta Smith (76 snaps) in the Eagles' season-opening win over the Packers. According to the Eagles' official site, head coach Nick Sirianni expressed confidence in Dotson's ability to take on more meaningful snaps in Brown's absence, with Sirianni noting that he's been pleased with how the wideout has looked in practices since being acquired from the Commanders on Aug. 22. After Smith and Dotson, the Eagles are left with Johnny Wilson (questionable, hamstring) and Britain Covey as depth options at receiver.
Sep 9, 2024
No catches in Eagles debut
Dotson finished his Eagles debut Friday against the Packers with zero catches on one target.
ANALYSIS
Dotson was on the field for 32 offensive snaps, well ahead of fellow depth wideouts Johnny Wilson (10) and Britain Covey (9), but the only time quarterback Jalen Hurts looked his way, it nearly resulted in a pick six. Dotson's role can only grow from here, and he's likely to be more involved once he's had more than two full weeks of practice with his new team, which acquired him from the Commanders in late August, but the Eagles haven't tended to give many targets to receivers other than A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in recent seasons.
Aug 22, 2024
Headed to Philadelphia
The Commanders have traded Dotson and a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Eagles for a 2025 third-rounder and two seventh-round picks.
ANALYSIS
Dotson jonis a Philadelphia wideout corps that will continue to be led by A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. In his new locale, Dotson should serve as the team's No. 3 WR, a role that probably won't entail much volume so long as Brown and Smith remain healthy. In 17 regular-season contests in 2023, the 2022 first-rounder caught 49 of his 83 targets for 518 yards and four TDs.
Aug 17, 2024
One catch in preseason loss
Dotson secured one of two targets for three yards in the Commanders' 13-6 preseason loss to the Dolphins on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Dotson was on the field with Terry McLaurin and Dyami Brown to open the game, playing ahead of rookie third-round pick Luke McCaffrey. Dotson is trying to hold on to the No. 2 receiver job at McCaffrey's expense, and the competition between the two is likely to come down to the last few training camp practices and the Aug. 25 preseason finale versus the Patriots.
Aug 15, 2024
Not locked in as a starter
Coach Dan Quinn suggested Wednesday that Dotson hasn't locked down the No. 2 receiver job, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Quinn said the Commanders are "in the middle of" a search for their No. 2 receiver, with John Keim of ESPN.com noting that Olamide Zaccheaus has been more consistent than Dotson in training camp. This may seem surprising given that Dotson was a first-round pick in 2022 and had a promising rookie season, but he was one of the least efficient starting WRs in the league last year in terms of both per-target and per-route production. He then played most of the first half in Washington's preseason opener against the Jets on Saturday, whereas sure-thing starters like QB Jayden Daniels and WR Terry McLaurin mostly were removed after the first drive.
Jun 23, 2024
Optimistic about Kingsbury's offense
Dotson recently told reporters it's been "really nice" having a simplified approach under new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson wasn't a good fit under former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, whose scheme emphasized screen passes and other quick throws that relied on yards after the catch. That's not Dotson's strength, nor did it help that Sam Howell was one of the least accurate QBs on deep passes. Kingsbury and No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels may prove to be better fits for Dotson, but it would still be unwise to completely ignore his 2023 struggles. Out of 81 qualified wide receivers, he was 73rd in yards per target (6.2), 77th in yards per route (0.79), 78th in YAC average (2.1) and 78th in target rate (12.7 percent). Dotson had five more yards and three more TDs in five fewer games back in 2022, when he was the 16th overall draft pick and a Week 1 starter. The upcoming season will be his fifth in a row with a new coordinator/playcaller, dating back to his junior year at Penn State.
Jan 9, 2024
Concludes disappointing 2023
Dotson finished 2023 with 49 catches for 518 yards and four touchdowns on 83 targets.
ANALYSIS
Dotson had more yards (523) and touchdowns (seven) as a rookie in 2022 despite missing five full games and having his snaps limited in two others. He didn't miss any games in his sophomore campaign, but nearly everything else was a disappointment, including his target volume (4.9 per game) and efficiency stats (59.0 percent catch rate, 10.6 yards per catch, 6.2 yards per targe). His catch rate barely rose compared to 2022 -- even though his aDOT sunk from 13.5 to 9.3 -- and his yards after catch (YAC) average dropped from 3.9 to 2.4 (usually it rises when a player sees more short passes and fewer long ones). The main positives here are that Dotson never got benched, playing 82.2 percent of Washington's snaps on offense, and may now head into his third NFL season with a new head coach and new starting quarterback. The 2022 first-round pick nonetheless figures to come off the board later in 2024 fantasy drafts than he did this past summer, with the down season in Year 2 casting serious doubt upon his future.
Jan 3, 2024
Held catchless against 49ers
Dotson failed to reel in his lone target in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Dotson was held without a catch Sunday for the third time this season despite playing the second most offensive snaps (39) at wideout behind Terry McLaurin (41). With a streak of underwhelming performances down the stretch this season, the veteran receiver remains an untrustworthy option for fantasy lineups heading into a Week 18 matchup with the Cowboys.
Dec 27, 2023
Two grabs in Week 16
Dotson caught two of four targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Dotson's modest production continued his streak of underwhelming performances, as the wideout has been held out of the end zone for four straight contests and has totaled just 10 catches on 16 targets in that span. The 23-year-old will look to get more involved in a Week 17 matchup against the 49ers, but his stretch of minimal production make him an untrustworthy option for fantasy purposes.
Dec 18, 2023
Catches only target
Dotson caught his one target for 12 yards in Sunday's 28-20 loss at the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Washington's fourth-quarter QB switch from Sam Howell to Jacoby Brissett did wonders for Terry McLaurin, who caught three passes for 93 yards and a touchdown in the final frame. Curtis Samuel also had a big day with a pair of scores among his nine targets, while Dotson didn't see a single target until midway through the fourth quarter and now ranks third on the team in targets this season (75, 5.4 per game). A late turnaround isn't entirely out of the question, but Dotson doesn't seem especially likely to breakthrough Week 16 against an excellent Jets secondary.
Dec 3, 2023
Two catches in Week 13 loss
Dotson brought in two of five targets for 23 yards in the Commanders' 45-15 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Expectations were high for another pass-heavy game for the Commanders as they attempted to keep up with the Dolphins, but for a variety of reasons, that didn't quite materialize. Sam Howell ultimately attempted just 23 passes, and Dotson tied for the team lead in targets with Curtis Samuel and Antonio Gibson. However, he did little with the opportunities, finishing with seventh sub-30-yard tally of the season. Dotson should have a chance for more opportunities in a Week 15 road matchup against the Rams following a Week 14 bye.
Nov 23, 2023
Five grabs in Dallas
Dotson caught all five of his targets for 52 yards in Thursday's 45-10
ANALYSIS
While Curtis Samuel (12) and Terry McLaurin (11) saw higher target volumes, Dotson was efficient with his looks as he topped 50 receiving yards for only the third time this season. The second-year wideout has been coming on after an awful start to the year, in large part because Sam Howell is consistently attempting more than 40 passes a game, and over the last five weeks Dotson has a 20-252-3 line on 29 targets, although even that productive stretch includes one game in which he didn't catch a pass at all. Dotson may need to come up big in Week 13 if the Commanders are to have a hope of keeping up with the Dolphins.
Nov 19, 2023
Finds end zone in loss
Dotson recorded three catches on four targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-19 loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Dotson improved from his Week 10 performance, during which he failed to record a catch, though his involvement in the offense Sunday was still concerning. He saw fewer than five targets for the fourth time this season and has been held under 30 receiving yards on six occasions. Dotson's fantasy day was saved by an eight-yard touchdown catch with just over two minutes remaining in the game, but it's difficult to project him for consistent production with limited volume.
Nov 14, 2023
Finishes with goose egg
Dotson was held without a catch on two targets in a 29-26 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dotson broke out of a pronged slump with 10 catches for 177 yards and two TDs (18 targets) over the previous two weeks, but it's hard to find a silver lining for his goose egg Sunday in a game that saw QB Sam Howell throw for over 300 yards. The second-year wideout handled his usual role in terms of snap share (87 percent) and simply couldn't get anything done against one of the better CB groups in the league. Dotson gets a much better matchup Week 11, facing the Giants at home, but it's tough to trust him in fantasy lineups given his overall averages of 3.4 catches for 36.0 yards and 0.3 TDs on 5.9 targets per game. He's fallen shy of double-digit PPR points in each of the seven games in which he didn't score a touchdown, and his catch rate (57.6 percent) is nearly identical to last season's despite his aDOT dropping from 13.5 to 9.5 and his yards per reception sliding from 14.9 to 10.6.
Nov 9, 2023
Gets removed from injury report
Dotson (personal) wasn't listed on the Commanders' injury report Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Dotson missed Wednesday's practice due to a personal matter, but he was back one day later without any limitations. He's thus set to take on a Seahawks defense Sunday that has allowed the eighth-most receptions (118) to opposing wide receivers in eight games this season.
Nov 8, 2023
Absent for personal reasons
Dotson missed practice Wednesday for personal reasons but is expected to return Thursday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson's two best fantasy games of the year were the past two weeks, both featuring touchdowns, and it sounds like he'll rejoin the team with plenty of time to prepare for Sunday's game at Seattle.
Nov 5, 2023
Two-game TD streak after slow start
Dotson caught four of eight targets for 69 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Dotson tied the score at 17-17 with a 33-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter. He led the Commanders in targets while finishing one catch and four receiving yards shy of Terry McLaurin's team-leading totals. After posting just 183 yards and one touchdown through seven games, Dotson has 177 yards and two touchdowns in his last two. He'll look to stay hot in Week 10 against the Seahawks.
Oct 29, 2023
Best showing of season Sunday
Dotson brought in eight of 10 targets for 108 yards and one touchdown in the Commanders' 38-31 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dotson led the Commanders in receptions and receiving yards on the afternoon with totals that also qualified as season highs. Dotson also recorded his second touchdown grab of the season for good measure, finding the end zone from 21 yards out early in the second quarter. The speedy second-year man carries an impressive 13-151-1 line over his last two games into a Week 9 road matchup against an inconsistent Patriots secondary that gave up a pair of 100-yard performances to the Dolphins' Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on Sunday.
Oct 23, 2023
Another quiet outing
Dotson caught five of eight targets for 43 yards in a 14-7 loss to the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It was better than his one-target, zero-catch outing the week before and technically represents a season-high for yardage, but Dotson still hasn't reached 50 yards in a game this season or done much of anything to help fantasy managers. He ran a team-high 42 routes, suggesting his starting job is still safe, but the big plays from last year (14.9 YPR, seven TDs in 12 games) have completely dried up. Dotson gets a home game against the Eagles in Week 8, facing veteran cornerbacks Darius Slay and James Bradberry.
Oct 15, 2023
Blanked in Week 6 win
Dotson failed to bring in his only target in the Commanders' 24-16 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The speedster saw Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel combine for 10 receptions, 123 yards and a touchdown on 15 targets, making his lack of production all the more glaring. There were hopes that Dotson and fellow second-year pro Sam Howell would embark on parallel, interconnected tracks of success during the 2023 season, but the former sports a modest 17-140-1 line on 31 targets through six games and has been under 40 receiving yards in five consecutive contests. Dotson's next opportunity to begin altering the course of his season for the better comes in a Week 7 divisional road clash with the Giants.
Oct 9, 2023
Held to 30 yards
Dotson caught three of five targets for 30 yards in Thursday's 40-20 loss to Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Dotson took a step forward the previous week with his first TD and a season-high nine targets, though he caught only four of the passes for 27 yards and has now put another weak receiving line in the books. While technically just one target behind Terry McLaurin (31) for the team lead this year, Dotson has been one of the less efficient starting wideouts in the league (56.7 percent catch rate, 8.2 yards per catch) and is one of four Commanders in the range of 14-to-18 percent target share. He gets a road game in Atlanta for Week 6 and should probably only be started in deep leagues at this point, with a second-year breakout looking increasingly unlikely.
Oct 4, 2023
Expected to play Thursday
Dotson (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Dotson's good to go for a favorable matchup against a Chicago defense that's allowing 34.3 PPG. The 2022 first-round draft pick finally scored his first touchdown of the season in last week's loss to the Eagles after finding the end zone seven times in 12 games as a rookie. Dotson has a healthy 25 targets through four games but has yet to exceed 40 yards in any game this season.
Oct 3, 2023
Remains limited in practice
Dotson (ankle) was a limited participant at Tuesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Dotson maintained limited practice participation for the second day in a row, after he was previously listed as limited during Monday's walk-through session. The Commanders haven't suggested that Dotson is dealing with a major injury, but with the team facing a quick turnaround Week 5 with a Thursday night matchup with the Bears, the second-year wideout's status will be worth monitoring. Through Washington's first four games of the season, Dotson has produced a 14-110-1 receiving line on 25 targets.
Oct 2, 2023
Included on Week 5 injury report
Dotson was estimated as a limited participant for Monday's walk-through practice due to an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Dotson may have sustained the injury at some point during Washington's 34-31 overtime loss to the Eagles on Sunday, when he played 53 snaps on offense and logged a 4-27-1 receiving line on nine targets. With the Commanders facing a quick turnaround Week 5 with a Thursday night matchup with the Bears, Dotson's activity in practice will be worth tracking Tuesday and Wednesday.
Oct 1, 2023
Catches clutch TD in OT loss
Dotson caught four of nine targets for 27 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The second-year wideout continued his early-season struggles into the second half, but Dotson came up big when it mattered most, getting free in the end zone and catching a 10-yard TD strike from Sam Howell as time expired to force the extra quarter. It's his first score of 2023 after Dotson racked up seven touchdowns in 12 games as a rookie, and he could add to that total in Week 5 against a Bears defense that just gave up three passing TDs to the Broncos while blowing a big fourth-quarter lead.
Oct 1, 2023
Back in Sunday's game
Dotson (ankle) returned to Sunday's contest at Philadelphia, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson left for a spell of Week 4 action spanning the end of the third and start of the fourth quarters, but he'll attempt to gut out the ankle injury that forced the brief time away from the field. He'll look to build upon his two catches (on six targets) for 12 yards.
Oct 1, 2023
Suffers ankle injury Sunday
Dotson departed Sunday's game in Philadelphia due to an ankle injury, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson had just two catches (on six targets) for 12 yards at the time of his exit late in the third quarter. As long as Dotson is sidelined, Curtis Samuel, Dyami Brown, Byron Pringle and Jamison Crowder are the healthy and available wide receivers behind the Commanders' top option Terry McLaurin.
Sep 24, 2023
Held in check during loss
Dotson brought in two of four targets for 21 yards in the Commanders' 37-3 loss to the Bills on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dotson was largely held in check by an aggressive Bills defense that made the Commanders' air attack a check-down fest for the most part by pressuring Sam Howell relentlessly. Dotson has disappointingly seen his receiving yardage total drop in each of the last two weeks, and he'll have another tough matchup on his hands in a Week 4 road battle versus the Eagles.
Sep 18, 2023
Held in check Sunday
Dotson finished with three receptions on five targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 35-33 win over Denver.
ANALYSIS
Dotson turned in another lackluster fantasy line following last week's 40-yard output. The second-year receiver has yet to find the end zone after posting seven touchdowns in 12 games as a rookie last year. Dotson has maintained regular playing time during his slow start, seeing 12 targets through two games. The production should come so long as his role isn't reduced, so frustrated managers in deeper formats should remain patient with the 2022 first-round pick as the Commanders prepare to host the Bills next Sunday.
Sep 10, 2023
Five grabs against Cards
Dotson caught five of seven targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
The Commanders' passing game wasn't particularly productive on the afternoon, but Dotson tied Curtis Samuel for the team lead in receptions. The 2022 first-round pick showed a nose for the end zone as a rookie with seven TDs in 12 games, and if Patrick Surtain matches up with Terry McLaurin during a Week 2 clash, Dotson could add to that total against a Broncos secondary that got torched for two touchdowns by Jakobi Meyers in its season opener.
Aug 21, 2023
Leads starters with 76 yards
Dotson caught five of seven targets for 76 yards in Monday's preseason game against Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Washington's first-team offense played the entire first half, putting up 17 points on four drives with QB Sam Howell throwing for 188 yards and two TDs. Dotson was the only player to see more than four targets in the half, and he accounted for 40 percent of Howell's yardage while doing his damage on short and intermediate throws. The 2022 first-round pick was more of a big-play threat than a volume guy as a rookie, though that changed somewhat over the final month of the season, portending a possible Year 2 breakout. The extended playing time Monday likely means Dotson will be held out of the final preseason game in preparation for a Week 1 home matchup with Arizona.
Aug 12, 2023
Finds end zone Friday
Dotson caught both his targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Washington's starters on offense were on the field for three drives, and Dotson ended his night in style by hauling in a 26-yard TD strike from Sam Howell on the last one. The Penn State product could be headed for a breakout second season in the NFL, and Dotson has already demonstrated his nose for the end zone by catching four touchdowns in his first four games in 2022 before injuries derailed his rookie campaign.
Jul 28, 2023
Confident entering Year 2
Dotson told reporters Thursday that he has "all the confidence in the world" heading into his second NFL season.
ANALYSIS
The 2022 first-round pick is one off the stronger candidates for a second-year fantasy breakout, coming off a rookie season in which he scored seven touchdowns in 12 games and accrued 66 percent of his yardage and 57 percent of his targets over the final five weeks. Quarterback play remains a potential problem in Washington, but Dotson doesn't see it that way and has relayed optimism about QB Sam Howell multiple times this offseason. Full-on breakout or not, Dotson at least figures to see more volume than he did last year and appears locked in alongside Terry McLaurin as one of the top two options in the passing game under new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.
Jan 9, 2023
Solid numbers to wrap up season
Dotson caught three of four targets for 72 yards in Sunday's 26-6 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Sam Howell was making his first career start at quarterback and attempted only 19 passes, but Dotson was still able to flash his big-play ability. The 2022 first-round pick completes his first NFL season with 35 catches on 61 targets for 523 yards and seven TDs, and while Dotson took a back seat to Terry McLaurin in 2022, the duo could be on more equal footing in the Washington passing game next year -- whether Howell, or a veteran import, is slinging balls their way.
Jan 2, 2023
Held to three catches
Dotson caught three of seven targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Dotson tied TE Logan Thomas for the team lead in targets but lost a three-game TD streak with QB Carson Wentz struggling badly in his return to the starting role. It remains to be seen if Wentz or Taylor Heinicke will start Week 18 against Dallas, with the latter seemingly a better option when it comes to fantasy value for Dotson and Terry McLaurin.
Dec 24, 2022
Team-high nine targets plus score
Dotson finished with six receptions on nine targets for 76 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 37-20 loss to San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Dotson kept his hot streak rolling with his third touchdown in as many weeks. The 22-year-old ran a crisp corner route to the back pylon for a short score in the second quarter, showing fantasy managers that he is more than just an outside deep threat. Dotson's targets have ballooned during his recent run of strong play, racking up a team-high 24 targets over Washington's last three games. The Commanders will have to make a decision on who to start between Taylor Heinicke and Carson Wentz for Week 17, but Dotson's stock should remain high regardless of who is under center against the Browns next Sunday.
Dec 19, 2022
Coming on strong late in year
Dotson caught four of six targets for 105 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Dotson was the unexpected star of Washington's aerial attack Sunday, posting the first 100-yard game of his career under the lights of Sunday Night Football. This standout performance comes on the heels of another strong fantasy line (5/54/1), indicating that the rookie has shaken off the rust after a slow start since returning from injured reserve in Week 10. The 22-year-old is averaging 7.5 targets over his current two-game hot streak. Dotson's improved play of late, combined with his nose for the end zone (he has six TDs in nine games), make him an intriguing play against the 49ers on Saturday.
Dec 6, 2022
Reemerges with late TD
Dotson caught five of nine targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-20 tie with the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Dotson scored the tying TD from 28 yards out just inside the two-minute warning, his first real highlight since returning from injured reserve Week 10. He was targeted only four times his first three games back despite playing at least 34 snaps in each contest, with Washington's offense focusing more on Terry McLaurin and the running backs. McLaurin had an even bigger game this past Sunday, while Dotson showed some of the big-play ability that led him to four TDs over the first four weeks of the season. The Commanders have a Week 14 bye before hosting the Giants in a rematch Week 15 and visiting San Francisco in Week 16.
Nov 28, 2022
Targeted once
Dotson was targeted once and didn't catch any passes in Sunday's 19-13 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Dotson played more than 60 percent of snaps for a second straight week but has been targeted only four times in three games since missing more than a month with a hamstring injury. The Washington offense has become much more run-oriented since the early part of the season when Dotson scored four TDs in his first four games, and Terry McLaurin has taken on a larger share of the targets ever since Taylor Heinicke took over at quarterback. It's a situation that's left Dotson and Curtis Samuel with only a few targets each week, making neither an attractive fantasy option for Week 13 at the Giants.
Nov 22, 2022
Produces another dud Sunday
Dotson caught one of two targets for 13 yards and rushed once for three yards in Sunday's 23-10 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
In Dotson's second game back from a five-game absence due to a hamstring injury, he was held in check by a Houston secondary without their third overall draft pick in Derek Stingley (hamstring). After a hot start to begin his NFL career, including four scores in his first four games, the 22-year-old has managed just a combined two receptions for 27 yards over Washington's last two contests with Taylor Heinicke under center. However, Dotson has a prime opportunity to turn things around in Week 12 against a vulnerable Falcons secondary.
Nov 16, 2022
Limited role in return
Dotson (hamstring) hauled in his lone target for a 14-yard reception in Monday's 32-21 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
In his return from a five-game absence, Dotson didn't start but still finished third among Commanders receivers in snaps, albeit by a small margin. He was on the field for 34 of the Commanders' 83 offensive snaps (40 percent), trailing both Terry McLaurin (86 percent) and Curtis Samuel (64 percent) and narrowly outpacing Cam Sims (33 percent) for fourth. Expect Dotson's snap share to pick up as he becomes further removed from the hamstring issue, but the rookie doesn't look like the safest bet to reclaim the fantasy utility he held over the first quarter of the season before the hamstring injury surfaced. In his first four games, Dotson turned in a modest averages of three receptions and 38 receiving yards on 5.5 target per contest, but his value was propped up heavily by four touchdown catches.
Nov 11, 2022
Puts forth full practice
Dotson (hamstring) was a full participant in Friday's practice, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After Dotson was a limited participant Thursday in his first recorded practice activity since Oct. 20, he took another step forward by taking every rep Friday. He thus looks on track to play in Monday's game against the Eagles after missing the Commanders' last five games with a hamstring strain and a related setback. Dotson should step back into a regular role in three-receiver sets alongside Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel on Monday, though the rookie first-round selection may not immediately reclaim the typical 85-plus-percent snap share he enjoyed in the first three weeks of the season.
Nov 10, 2022
Limited in return to practice
Dotson (hamstring) was limited at Thursday's practice, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
This marks Dotson's first appearance at practice since Oct. 20, when he aggravated the hamstring issue that hasn't allowed him to play since Week 4. He now has two more sessions to put himself in a position to suit up Monday at Philadelphia.
Nov 4, 2022
Out this week, could return Week 10
Dotson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Minnesota, but coach Ron Rivera said the team hopes to get the wideout back next week, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson hasn't practiced since suffering a setback Oct. 20, and the Commanders will turn to Cam Sims and/or Dyami Brown for at least one more game in the No. 3 receiver role. A return to practice next week wouldn't necessarily equate to playing in the Week 10 matchup with Philadelphia, but it'd be a good place for the rookie to start. He does have an extra day to get ready with the Week 10 contest played on a Monday.
Nov 3, 2022
Trending toward another missed game
Dotson (hamstring) isn't taking part in Thursday's practice, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson hasn't practiced in any capacity since he reportedly aggravated his hamstring injury during a limited showing in the Commanders' Oct. 20. He missed two games prior to the aggravation and now looks to be trending toward a fifth consecutive absence this Sunday, when the Commanders host the Vikings. The Commanders will wait and see what, if anything, Dotson is able to do at Friday's practice before giving him a designation for the Week 9 game.
Nov 2, 2022
Remains sidelined at practice
Dotson (hamstring) is not practicing Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson hasn't played since Week 4 due to a lingering hamstring injury, an issue which he reportedly aggravated late October. The Commanders haven't offered a timetable for the rookie first-rounder's return, but he only has two more chances to practice ahead of Sunday's contest against the Vikings.
Oct 28, 2022
Out again
Dotson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
With Dotson out another week, it'll be either Cam Sims or Dyami Brown (questionable - groin) getting most of the WR snaps alongside Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel in the three-wide formations that comprise most of Washington's offense. The team might also have TE Logan Thomas (calf) as a receiving option this week, as he's been deemed questionable after missing the past three games.
Oct 27, 2022
Unlikely to play Sunday
Coach Ron Rivera said Thursday that he doesn't expected Dotson (hamstring) to be available for Sunday's contest at Indianapolis, Pete Hailey of NBC Sports Washington reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson hasn't logged any game action since Week 4, and he recently aggravated his hamstring concern, per Craig Hoffman of 106.7 The Fan Washington, so the rookie wide receiver appears to be a few weeks from returning, at least. Still, Dotson's status should be monitored, as he may be ruled out for Week 8 as soon as the release of Friday's injury report. In Dotson's stead, Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel will continue to be Washington's top WR options, with Dyami Brown (groin), Cam Sims and Dax Milne in reserve.
Oct 27, 2022
Still not practicing
Dotson (hamstring) isn't practicing Thursday, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post, Dotson recently aggravated the hamstring injury that has sidelined him for the Commanders' previous three games, which explains why he's logged no activity for the team's first two practices of Week 8 after practicing on a limited basis twice Week 7. Jhabvala suggests that Dotson could be in store for another multi-week recovery timeline in light of the setback, so at the very least, fantasy managers shouldn't count on the rookie wideout making it back for Sunday's game in Indianapolis.
Oct 26, 2022
Not able to practice
Dotson (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson has missed three games in a row and reportedly suffered a setback after returning to a limited practice last week. He's in danger of making it four straight absences when the Commanders face the Colts on Sunday.
Oct 23, 2022
Inactive against Green Bay
Dotson (hamstring) is inactive Week 7 against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Reports from earlier Sunday morning had suggested Dotson was not in line to suit up, and that will be confirmed with the official inactive report. Dotson will effectively miss his third consecutive week, leaving Cam Sims in line for a boosted role in terms of offensive snaps.
Oct 23, 2022
Not slated to play Sunday
Dotson (hamstring) is not in line to be active for Sunday's game against the Packers, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Official confirmation of Dotson's Week 7 status will arrive when the Commanders' inactives are posted ahead of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff, but after the wideout aggravated his hamstring injury in practice, he's in line to miss the contest. With Dyami Brown (groin) already ruled out, Cam Sims figures to see added snaps versus Green Bay behind Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel.
Oct 23, 2022
Reportedly long-shot to play
Dotson (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Green Bay, is a long-shot to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Ron Rivera previously said the Commanders will err on the safe side, so this is another sign he may not play. Dotson reportedly aggravated his hamstring injury during Thursday's practice. With backup wideout Dyami Brown (groin) officially ruled out, Cam Sims would be the probable No. 3 receiver if Dotson is declared inactive prior to the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday.
Oct 21, 2022
Officially listed questionable
Dotson (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Green Bay, with coach Ron Rivera saying the Commanders will err on the safe side, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like Dotson is less than 50/50 to play, given Rivera's quote Friday on the heels of a reported setback at Thursday's practice. With backup wideout Dyami Brown (groin) officially ruled out, Cam Sims would be the probable No. 3 receiver if Dotson is declared inactive prior to the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday.
Oct 20, 2022
Aggravates hamstring Thursday
Dotson aggravated his hamstring injury during Thursday's practice, and his status now is up in the air of Sunday's contest against the Packers, Jordan Schultz of TheScore.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After hauling in a pass from Taylor Heinicke, Dotson left the field with the Commanders' primary trainer and then was spotted on a stationary bike, per John Keim of ESPN.com. Dotson is attempting to put an end to a two-game absence, but that seems to be in danger after Thursday's setback. There's a chance his status gains some clarity Friday, at which point the team may make a ruling on his availability for Week 7.
Oct 20, 2022
Another limited practice
Dotson (hamstring) officially was limited at practice Thursday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson made an early exit from the second session of Week 7 prep after running a route and was looked at by team trainers. Riding a stationary bike was his only activity thereafter, and he went down as a limited participant for a second consecutive day. The rookie first-round pick is attempting to come back from a two-game absence due to a hamstring injury, but Thursday's event could be a setback in that regard. Dotson's status thus is worth watching as the weekend approaches.
Oct 20, 2022
Looked at by trainers Thursday
Dotson (hamstring) was looked at by trainers following one of his routes during Thursday's practice, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Afterward, Dotson -- who had been progressing well from a hamstring issue -- was spotted riding a stationary bike on the sideline, per Keim. While the rookie first-round pick is expected to be listed as a limited participant Thursday, his status is worth monitoring closely ahead of Sunday's game against the Packers. What Dotson does Friday at practice will be pivotal with regard to his chances of returning to action Week 7.
Oct 19, 2022
Returns to limited practice
Dotson (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday as a limited participant, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dyami Brown (quad) caught two TD passes while filling in for Dotson in Week 5 but then played just three snaps Week 6 while dealing with an injury. Cam Sims had a much quieter stint in the No. 3 receiver role, a job that eventually will be handed back to Dotson, and potentially as soon as this Sunday against the Packers. If so, the rookie will face a tough secondary while catching passes from Taylor Heinicke.
Oct 12, 2022
Ruled out again
Dotson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Dotson hasn't practiced since injuring his hamstring Week 4, and he said this week that he wants to be patient to avoid aggravating it. Dyami Brown and Cam Sims split snaps filling in for Dotson in the Week 5 loss to Tennessee, with Brown scoring two TDs from 75 and 30 yards out on just four targets and 20 snaps (32 percent). The impressive showing could lead Brown to more playing time this Thursday, but it's not a sure thing.
Oct 11, 2022
DNP on Tuesday
Dotson (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Tuesday's injury report, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Commanders seemed to go through a light practice or walkthrough, but Dotson remained on the side and worked with team trainers, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. Dotson hasn't logged any noticeable on-field work since he left a Week 4 loss at Dallas, the result of a hamstring injury that coach Ron Rivera said at the time would keep the rookie first-rounder sidelined one or two games. With just one practice to go this week, Dotson doesn't appear to be in a great spot ahead of Thursday's game in Chicago.
Oct 10, 2022
Non-participant on practice estimate
Dotson (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson, who was inactive for Sunday's 21-17 loss to the Titans, now has two more chances to upgrade his practice participation level ahead of Thursday night's game against the Bears. If he remains out for the contest, added Week 6 WR opportunities would be available for Dyami Brown (groin/limited Monday) and Cam Sims.
Oct 7, 2022
Out at least one game
Dotson (hamstring) won't play Sunday against the Titans, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Dyami Brown replaced Dotson after the rookie injured his hamstring in the Week 4 loss to Dallas. The Commanders could turn to either Brown or Cam Sims this Sunday, and there's a decent chance they'll need a replacement again Week 6 when they face the Bears on Thursday Night Football.
Oct 6, 2022
Sitting out another practice
Dotson (hamstring) isn't taking part in practice Thursday and is instead working out off to the side with a trainer, Pete Hailey of NBC Sports Washington reports.
ANALYSIS
Washington likely won't formally rule on Dotson's status for Sunday's game against the Titans until after Friday's practice, but head coach Ron Rivera already said the rookie wideout could miss "a week or two" due to the hamstring injury he sustained in the Week 4 loss to the Cowboys. Meanwhile, Curtis Samuel (illness) was away from practice for the second day in a row, potentially leaving Washington's receiving corps down two key members this weekend. If both Dotson and Samuel aren't available, Dyami Brown would likely be first in line among Washington's depth wideouts to see added snaps alongside No. 1 receiver Terry McLaurin.
Oct 5, 2022
Not practicing
Dotson (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
The Commanders haven't ruled Dotson out for Sunday's game against the Titans, but it isn't a great sign that coach Ron Rivera said the rookie might miss a week or two. While his 22 targets rank only fourth on the team, Dotson's 12 catches include four TDs and two gains of more than 30 yards, giving Carson Wentz a second big-play threat alongside Terry McLaurin. The problem right now for Washington is poor QB play and blocking, with the latter partially due to injury concerns that may carry over to Week 5. The Commanders had 2021 third-round pick Dyami Brown fill in after Dotson's departure last week, but they could also turn to Cam Sims if the rookie is indeed out this Sunday against Tennessee.
Oct 3, 2022
Could miss time
Coach Ron Rivera noted Monday that Dotson's hamstring injury "might keep him out a week or two," Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Though the 2022 first-rounder hasn't been officially ruled for Week 5 action, it looks like he'll be hard pressed to play Sunday against the Titans, based on Rivera's comment. If Dotson does miss time, Dyami Brown, Cam Sims and Dax Milne would be candidates to log added WR snaps behind Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel.
Oct 2, 2022
Suffers hamstring injury Sunday
Dotson was forced out of Sunday's game at Dallas due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
The circumstances surrounding Dotson's departure are unclear, but if he's unable to return, he'll finish Week 4 with three catches (on four targets) for 43 yards and one touchdown. With Dotson on the sideline, the Commanders are down to Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, Cam Sims, Dax Milne and Dyami Brown at wide receiver.
Sep 26, 2022
Shut down by Eagles
Dotson caught two of eight targets for 10 yards in a 24-8 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The eight targets were a season high with Carson Wentz topping 40 pass attempts for a third time in three games. After converting 10 targets into 99 yards and three touchdowns in matchups with the Jaguars and Lions in the first two games of his career, Dotson came up empty in Week 3 (and committed his first drop) against a much better Philadelphia defense. He topped 85 percent snap share for a third time in three games, and the heavy workload means he should see at least a few looks Week 4 at Dallas, though his 18 targets are only fourth most on the Commanders (Curtis Samuel - 30, Terry McLaurin - 21, J.D. McKissic - 19), accounting for 14.2 percent of the team total.
Sep 18, 2022
Three TDs through two games
Dotson caught four of five targets for 59 yards and a touchdown while adding a two-point conversion in Sunday's 36-27 loss to Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Dotson continued to show a nose for the end zone after scoring two touchdowns in his NFL debut. He caught a two-point conversion in the third quarter, then scored from one yard out just after the two-minute warning. Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel are more regularly involved when Washington's moving the ball down the field, but Dotson has quickly developed chemistry with quarterback Carson Wentz by the goal line. The rookie first-round pick will look to extend his scoring streak in Week 3 against the Eagles.
Sep 12, 2022
Scores twice in NFL debut
Dotson secured three of five targets for 40 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 28-22 win over Jacksonville. He also lost 10 yards on his only rushing attempt.
ANALYSIS
Dotson's spectacular NFL debut included hauling in the game-winning touchdown pass from Carson Wentz, and was as promising a start as could be asked of the first-round rookie. Washington's coaching staff and Wentz don't appear to have any qualms about relying on Dotson in key situations, and his big-play ability makes up for concerns about volume out of the gate. Dotson is worth real fantasy consideration heading into a Week 2 matchup against Detroit, and he's a priority add in any fantasy leagues where he still resides on the waiver wire.
Aug 27, 2022
Not playing in preseason finale
Dotson will not play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Ravens, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Commanders are opting to rest the top four wide receivers listed on the depth leaving just Dyami Brown and Dax Milne among the crew of wide receivers playing Saturday with a realistic chance at making the final 53-man roster. Dotson is expected to be a featured target in the Commanders' passing attacking, particularly with the team's discouraging health issues at tight end.

Poised for every-down role
Dotson is in position for a near-every-down role to start the season, according to Ben Standig of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
The Commanders played their starters for chunks of the first two preseason games, and it was consistently Dotson running alongside Terry McLaurin, with Curtis Samuel then coming on as the third receiver. OC Scott Turner uses three-wide formations a lot anyway -- and may do so even more this year given the state of the team's TE depth -- but every little bit helps in an offense with shaky QB play. Dotson should run plenty of routes, if nothing else, when the Commanders open their season against the Jaguars on Sun., Sept. 11.

Two catches Saturday
Dotson caught both of his targets for 23 yards in Saturday's 24-14 preseason loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Dotson was the recipient of Carson Wentz's first pass of the game, while his second catch came on a Taylor Heinicke pass late in the first half. The rookie first-round pick has reportedly been turning heads in camp, so Dotson seems primed for a prominent role out of the gate as a secondary option for Wentz behind Terry McLaurin.

Not targeted in preseason debut
Dotson played in Saturday's 23-21 preseason loss to the Panthers but did not see a target.
ANALYSIS
Carson Wentz directed a pass toward Dotson deep down the right side of the field late in the first quarter. However, it wasn't counted as an official target because defensive holding was called on the play. Dotson has reportedly shown strong rapport with Wentz during training camp and drew a start in the Commanders' first preseason game, but he'll have to wait at least another week before showcasing his skills in game action.

Praised by fellow WR
Teammate Terry McLaurin has been impressed with Dotson's hands and believes the rookie first-round pick out of Penn State will be an impact player out of the gate for Washington, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
"When you're a sure-handed guy like he is and has been up until this point, he has a lot of confidence when the ball does get into his vicinity," McLaurin said of Dotson. While McLaurin is the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver for Washington, Dotson could earn a prominent role right away, as Curtis Samuel is his primary competition for targets behind McLaurin at wide receiver.

Establishing chemistry already
Dotson has been a standout at OTAs and is already establishing trust with quarterback Carson Wentz, Bijan Todd of NBC Sports Washington reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson has consistently gotten open and become one of Wentz's favorite targets at OTAs, according to Ethan Cadeaux of NBC Sports. Granted, the Commanders are still only holding non-contact drills, but it's encouraging to see the rookie first-round pick making a solid first impression. Top wideout Terry McLaurin hasn't been participating in offseason activities due to dissatisfaction with his current deal, so Dotson will have plenty of opportunities to continue establishing a rapport with Wentz.
