Tolbert failed to record a single target in Monday's 27-17 loss to the Cardinals.

Tolbert was a complete nonfactor in Monday's loss to Arizona. The fourth-year wideout played just seven of the Cowboys' 67 offensive snaps in the contest, the least of any wide receiver who saw the field and his lowest snap total of the season. Tolbert has had a minimal role in the Cowboys offense, as he is buried on the depth chart and has seen just 24 targets through nine games. The 26-year-old should remain far off the fantasy radar as the Cowboys head into their Week 10 bye before a matchup against the Raiders in Week 11.

Tolbert caught both his targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-24 loss to the Broncos.

The TD came late in the game when the outcome was already decided and the Cowboys had backup QB Joe Milton under center, but it was an impressive play nonetheless, as Tolbert ran under a perfectly placed deep ball from Milton for a 35-yard score. It was Tolbert's first touchdown of the season, and it came while he saw a season-low 14 snaps on offense, less than Ryan Flournoy (34) or KaVontae Turpin (30). Dallas appears content to have a revolving door in their WR3 spot depending on the matchup, but none of the team's depth options will see enough targets to have much fantasy value as long as CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are healthy.

Tolbert caught one of two targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 44-22 win over the Commanders.

With CeeDee Lamb back from his ankle injury, Tolbert retained his No. 3 role on the wide receiver depth chart, playing 49 percent of the offensive snaps (33 of 67) for the Cowboys while KaVontae Turpin saw 30 percent (20 snaps) and Ryan Flournoy dropped to 28 percent (19). Those three players combined for just a 2-33-0 line on three targets however, as Dak Prescott's attention was mainly on Lamb, George Pickens and tight end Jake Ferguson. As long as the team's top two WRs are healthy, Tolbert's fantasy value will be minimal at best.

Tolbert caught his only target for eight yards in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Panthers.

While the fourth-year wideout saw a 91 percent snap share on offense, that didn't translate into any kind of meaningful pass volume for a second straight contest, as Ryan Flournoy (9-144-0 in 15 targets in those two games) has clearly surpassed Tolbert as a trusted target for Dak Prescott. Tolbert's role figures to shrink further once CeeDee Lamb (ankle) and KaVontae Turpin (foot) return, and it wouldn't be a shock if he got bumped from the regular game-day roster completely at that point.

Tolbert failed to catch his only target in Sunday's win over the Jets.

With CeeDee Lamb (ankle) and KaVontae Turpin (foot) both unavailable, the door was open for Tolbert to take on a much bigger role in the Cowboys' passing game, but it was Ryan Flournoy who walked through it instead. While Tolbert couldn't get any attention from Dak Prescott, Flournoy led the team in receiving yards, posting a 6-114-0 line on nine targets. Tolbert did play more offensive snaps than Flournoy, 46 to 34, but that's small comfort to fantasy GMs to took a flyer on him. Even if Lamb and Turpin remain out in Week 6 against the Panthers, Tolbert can't be relied upon.

Tolbert brought in four of six targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 40-40 tie against the Packers.

Dallas' coaching staff singled out Tolbert as a player that needed to step up in the absence of CeeDee Lamb (ankle). The 26-year-old Tolbert answered the call and surpassed his entire receiving production through three weeks in Sunday's contest. Tolbert finished third in targets and receptions for the Cowboys in Week 4, giving him deep-league appeal for next Sunday's tilt against the Jets.

Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said Wednesday that Tolbert will "have to step up" with CeeDee Lamb (ankle) expected to miss time, Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com reports.

Schottenheimer mentioned that Tolbert led the team with seven touchdowns last year. The issue was that he didn't do much else with his ample playing time, ranking 13th among WRs in routes run (535) and 53d in receiving yards (610). Tolbert opened this season in a much lesser role, essentially splitting the No. 3 receiver job with KaVontae Turpin, before upgrading to team-high 89 percent route share in Week 3 when Lamb was injured early in the game. Tolbert may again handle an every-down role Week 4 against Green Bay, but the combination of a low target rate and tough matchup isn't promising for fantasy.

Tolbert caught three of six targets for 24 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bears.

While none of his receptions went for longer than 12 yards, Tolbert's six targets were a season high as he took on a bigger role in the Cowboys' passing attack following the early exit of CeeDee Lamb (ankle). Tolbert's 6-40-0 line on 12 targets through three games is uninspiring, but if Lamb misses additional time, Dak Prescott could look to his fourth-year wideout more frequently in a Week 4 tilt against the Packers.

Tolbert caught two of four targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 40-37 overtime win over the Giants. He added 85 yards on four kickoff returns.

KaVontae Turpin (neck) left midway through the game, pushing Tolbert into the primary kick returner role, and he was also back on a New York punt in OT but settled for a fair catch. The Cowboys' passing game has had a fairly narrow target tree so far -- one of CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens or Jake Ferguson were on the other end of 32 of Dak Prescott's 52 pass attempts during the contest -- but Tolbert hasn't done much with his rare receiving chances to earn a bigger share, posting a 3-16-0 line on six targets to begin 2025.

The Cowboys' target tree was narrow in their season opener, with CeeDee Lamb (13 targets), Jake Ferguson (six) and George Pickens (four) accounting for 23 of Dak Prescott's 34 throws on the night. Tolbert has little competition for the third spot on Dallas' wide receiver depth chart, but at least based on the first game with Brian Schottenheimer calling plays, it doesn't seem as though it's a role that will lead to much volume for the fourth-year player. Though he managed only two receptions, Tolbert finished second on the Cowboys in receiving yards thanks mostly to a 36-yard catch in the third quarter. He also logged the most offensive snaps (55, for a 72 percent snap share) among the team's wideouts. That was largely a result of CeeDee Lamb sitting out much of the third quarter and all of the fourth due to a shoulder injury. For the time being, there is optimism that Lamb won't have to miss any games due to the issue, but if the star wideout does end of being sidelined, Tolbert would likely ascend to the role of the Cowboys' No. 1 receiver.

Tolbert caught two of four targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Commanders.

The third-year wideout gave the Cowboys a 10-9 lead late in the third quarter with his six-yard TD grab, setting the stage for a wild fourth quarter in an eventual 34-26 victory. Tolbert has caught two of his four touchdowns on the season since Cooper Rush replaced Dak Prescott (hamstring) under center but has otherwise struggled to make much of an impact, posting a 10-76-2 line on 20 targets over the last four games. With Brandin Cooks (knee) closing in on a return from IR, Tolbert could lose some volume as soon as a Week 13 clash with the Giants.

Tolbert caught two of his five targets for 21 yards in Monday's 34-10 loss to the Texans.

Tolbert continued his streak of underwhelming performances Monday, as the third-year wideout's two catches accounted for his lowest reception total since Week 1. Operating as the Cowboys' No. 2 wide receiver, Tolbert has seen a decline in his production much like the entire Dallas offense throughout the season. With Cooper Rush starting at quarterback, the 25-year-old receiver will likely continue to struggle to make much of an impact for fantasy going forward. Tolbert remains difficult to trust for fantasy purposes heading into a Week 12 matchup against the Commanders.

Tolbert finished with two receptions (five targets) for 21 yards in Monday's 34-10 loss to the Texans.

Tolbert's recent struggles with backup quarterback Cooper Rush under center continued or the second week in a row. The Cowboys' No. 2 option behind CeeDee Lamb (8-93-0) finished with totals even deep-league managers would cringe at over a two-week period. If someone walks through the doors of AT&T Stadium who can resuscitate Dallas' offense sans Dak Prescott (hamstring), then we could recommend Tolbert as a strong play in Week 12. Until then, the talented receiver's floor will remain low.

Tolbert caught three of five targets for 14 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.

The wideout's first game of the year without Dak Prescott (hamstring) under center didn't go smoothly. Tolbert got a few short receptions from Cooper Rush, but when Trey Lance took over the offense late, the duo failed to connect on a deep pass that went for an interception -- in fact, Tolbert never even turned around to see if the ball was coming his way. Prescott could be headed for season-ending surgery, and no matter who his replacement at QB is, Tolbert's ceiling figures to be a lot lower heading into a Week 11 clash with the Texans.

Tolbert caught three of six targets for 19 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-21 loss to the Falcons.

While he didn't generate much yardage, Tolbert salvaged his day with a four-yard TD late in the fourth quarter. The pass came from Cooper Rush and not Dak Prescott (hamstring), and with Prescott headed for an MRI on Monday, there's a real chance Rush could get the start in Week 10 against the Eagles. CeeDee Lamb was also nursing a sore shoulder late in Sunday's loss, so the Cowboys' passing game could look very different for that key divisional matchup.

Tolbert caught all three of his targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 30-24 loss to the 49ers.

Tolbert tied teammate CeeDee Lamb in snaps (55), operating as the Cowboys' clear No. 2 wideout. Sunday marked the sixth time in seven games in which the 25-year-old Tolbert recorded at least three catches. With the Cowboys facing a favorable passing game schedule down the stretch, its possible that the third-year receiver could see his role grow and have a more consistent impact. With that said, veteran Brandin Cooks (knee) is likely nearing a return from injured reserve, which could put a cap on Tolbert's upside. Up next for the Cowboys is a Week 9 matchup against the Saints.

Tolbert recorded four receptions on five targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 47-9 loss to the Lions.

The Cowboys struggled to get their offense going throughout the game, which hurt Tolbert's stat line. He still managed to finish second on the team in yards thanks to a 26-yard reception midway through the first quarter. Dallas will head into their bye week, but Tolbert should keep his role as a key pass catcher in a Week 8 matchup against the 49ers.

Tolbert finished with seven receptions (10 targets) for 87 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Steelers.

Tolbert saw his role on offense elevated while filling in for injured starter Brandin Cooks (knee) on Sunday. The former wound up being the hero of Sunday's victory after catching the game-winning touchdown pass with seconds remaining in regulation. Even more impressive is the fact that Tolbert appeared to injure his hand on the previous play, forcing Dallas to use its final timeout so the wideout could remain in the game. Cooks was shifted to injured reserve this weekend, so Tolbert could maintain his elevated role as the No. 2 behind CeeDee Lamb indefinitely.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy suggested Wednesday that Tolbert could be in line for an increased role on offense with Brandin Cooks (knee) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers, and possibly longer, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. "I love the guys we have here," McCarthy said. "The two Jalens [Tolbert and Jalen Brooks], this is more opportunities for them, [KaVontae] Turpin. Yeah, love our practice squad guys. We'll be in good shape [at receiver]."

Tolbert has already been a regular fixture in three-receiver sets this season, with his snap shares ranging from 67 to 85 percent through four games. While Cooks' absence may not necessarily lead to a dramatic spike in playing time for Tolbert, the 4.8 targets per contest that Cooks had been averaging could be redistributed to Tolbert and others. CeeDee Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson will likely continue to rank as quarterback Dak Prescott's preferred options in the passing game, but with none of the team's running backs representing major receiving threats, Tolbert could emerge as the clear No. 3 target sans Cooks.

Tolbert brought in all three targets for 24 yards in the Cowboys' 20-15 win over the Giants on Thursday night.

Tolbert was a distant third to CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson in the pass-catching hierarchy, but he notably recorded two more receptions and eight more yards than No. 2 receiver Brandin Cooks. Tolbert now has more receptions and receiving yards than Cooks in three straight games, while the former's 17 targets over that span also notably outpace the latter's 12 in the same span. It remains to be seen if there will be any official depth chart swap between the two wideouts, but either way, Tolbert figures to have a modest but reliable role in a Week 5 road matchup against the Steelers on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Tolbert caught three of five targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.

The third-year wideout was on the other end of Dak Prescott's first TD pass of the game, a 15-yard strike midway through the fourth quarter as the Cowboys tried to rally from a 28-6 deficit. Tolbert has out-produced Brandin Cooks in back-to-back games, and through three weeks the younger player has a 10-136-1 line on 16 targets compared to Cooks' 8-75-1 line on 15 targets. Tolbert could continue to push for the team's No. 2 receiver role in Week 4 against the Giants.

Tolbert caught six of nine targets for 82 yards in Sunday's 44-19 loss to the Saints.

The third-year wideout led the Cowboys in targets on the afternoon, and his receptions and yardage were both career highs. Tolbert had a quiet performance in the team's opener, but his usage Sunday dwarfed Brandin Cooks, who saw only two targets, and is a good sign that the 2022 third-round pick could be headed for a breakout campaign. Tolbert will attempt to build on this effort in Week 3 against the Ravens.

Tolbert didn't suit up for any of Dallas' preseason contests this year.

Dak Prescott and the rest of the team's first-string players were kept out of the preseason entirely, with Tolbert counting among that group. The 2022 third-round pick could be poised for a big role to begin the season with CeeDee Lamb still holding out and Brandin Cooks (knee) not 100 percent, as Tolbert looks to build on the 22-268-2 line on 36 targets he compiled over 17 regular-season games last year.

Tolbert has been one of the most impressive players so far in Cowboys training camp, Nick Harris of the team's website reports.

With CeeDee Lamb holding out while seeking a contract extension, Tolbert has used the available first-team reps to solidify his hold on the WR3 job. The third-year player out of South Alabama was the wideout who worked with Dak Prescott the most this offseason, and the duo is flashing much-improved chemistry in camp. If Lamb's holdout extends into the regular season, or he has a slow start due to the time he missed, Tolbert seems positioned to burst out of the gates on the 2024 campaign.

Tolbert made a spectacular red-zone catch on the first day of training camp practices Thursday, and quarterback Dak Prescott is expecting a breakout campaign from the wideout, Nick Harris of DallasCowboys.com reports. "He's worked all offseason and he's gonna make another jump from year two to year three as he did from one to two," Prescott said after practice. "Super proud of him and everything he's done. That catch is a testament to our connection, my trust in him and the hard work he's put in this offsea

A golden opportunity lies in front of Tolbert to begin camp, as CeeDee Lamb is holding out while seeking a contract extension, Michael Gallup is no longer on the roster and Brandin Cooks will turn 31 years old in September and may have lost a step. A third-round pick in 2022, Tolbert began to turn his athleticism into production last year while suiting up for all 17 games, and if he takes the leap forward that Prescott is predicting, he could become a key target for a QB who led the league in passing TDs in 2023 and finished third in passing yards.

Tolbert is in line for a larger role this season after working as the Cowboys' No. 4 WR in 2023, David Moore of The Dallas Morning News reports

After playing just 89 snaps on offense as a rookie, the 2022 third-round pick got a lot more playing time (477 snaps) in his second season, essentially splitting the No. 3 receiver role with Michael Gallup for much of the year. Gallup is now in Las Vegas and hasn't been replaced by a similar veteran or early draft pick, leaving Tolbert as the likely third WR behind entrenched starters CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. While the role won't necessarily entail a large quantity of targets, Tolbert at least would be positioned for a degree of fantasy value if Lamb were to miss any time with an injury.

Tolbert caught 22 of 36 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns over 17 regular-season games in 2023.

After a rough rookie campaign that saw the 2022 third-round pick get into the active lineup for only eight games, Tolbert was noticeably more reliable in 2023, and in the second half he was essentially splitting the No. 3 receiver role with Michael Gallup. There's a chance both Gallup and Brandin Cooks could be in different uniforms next season, which could position Tolbert to be the Cowboys' No. 2 wideout behind CeeDee Lamb, but it's more likely he heads into 2024 in roughly the same spot on the depth chart he occupies now.

CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson were the only Cowboys to see more than two targets on the day, but Tolbert did the most he could with his, connecting with Dak Prescott on a 45-yard gain in the third quarter that set up a Brandon Aubrey field goal. Tolbert will look to build on Sunday's performance in Week 10 against the Giants.

Tolbert went without a target and was charged with a lost fumble on a muffed punt in Monday's 20-17 win over the Chargers.

When the Chargers punted away with just under nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Tolbert thought return man KaVontae Turpin inadvertently touched the football, prompting Tolbert to lunge after the ball. Tolbert was actually the first Cowboys player to touch the ball, however, and was charged with a lost fumble when Chargers linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga recovered the loose ball. The Chargers were able to score a game-tying touchdown on the ensuing possession, but the special teams gaffe ultimately didn't cost the Cowboys a win. Tolbert should continue to have a role on the Cowboys' coverage and return units, but he doesn't look as though he'll be much more than a depth option at receiver. After catching four passes in a Week 4 win over New England, Tolbert has gone untargeted in two straight games, despite playing 37 snaps on offense between those contests.

Tolbert caught all four of his targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 38-3 win over the Patriots.

The catches and receiving yards were career highs for the second-year wideout, but Tolbert made his biggest impact on special teams, laying out punt returner Demario Douglas at New England's 10-yard line with a huge hit early in the second quarter while the outcome of the game was still in doubt. With the Pats pinned deep, Mac Jones got sacked two plays later and coughed up a fumble that Leighton Vander Esch returned to the house. Tolbert is still stuck behind CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup on the Cowboys' WR depth chart, giving him little fantasy value in most formats, but should an injury open up more snaps and targets for the 24-year-old, he seems ready to seize the opportunity.

Tolbert caught three of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 30-10 win over the Jets.

With Brandin Cooks (knee) sidelined, most of Dak Prescott's attention went to CeeDee Lamb, but Tolbert was able to put together the first multi-catch game of his career. Tolbert doesn't yet have a big role in the Dallas passing game, but he appears to be taking a big step forward after a tough rookie campaign. He'll try to build on this performance in Week 3 against the Cardinals.

Tolbert is expected to serve as Dallas' No. 3 receiver in Sunday's game against the Jets with Brandin Cooks (knee) listed as questionable but not in line to play, Joseph Hoyt of LoneStarLive.com reports.

After playing 16 snaps on offense and drawing one target in the Cowboys' 40-0 win over the Giants in the season opener, Tolbert is projected to see an expanded role Week 2 while Dallas is without one of its top three wideouts in Cooks. With a full offseason in the program ahead to hone his skills and with a better idea of what he needs to do to succeed in the NFL, Tolbert could make a big leap in his second season, but there's little reason to put him on the fantasy radar as anything more than a dart throw in dynasty formats until he proves himself on the field.

If he continues to show progress and can maybe add better preseason numbers to his resume before Week 1, his status as a fantasy sleeper will be a lot more secure.

Tolbert was the target on Cooper Rush's first two pass attempts, neither which was caught. The rookie did draw a pass interference penalty on the first play of the Cowboys' third drive and subsequently got on the board with a pair of receptions, making it a busy yet modest night for the third-round pick. Tolbert's next opportunity to ramp up for what should be a solid role right from the start of his career comes in a road battle against the Chargers next Saturday night.

The rookie third-round pick should have ample opportunities for practice reps once back on the field, but Dallas may also hesitate to rush him back from a hamstring strain. For now, the likes of Noah Brown, Simi Fehoko and T.J. Vasher will benefit from added work behind No. 1 wideout CeeDee Lamb.

The Cowboys selected Tolbert in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 88th overall.

Tolbert (6-foot-1, 194 pounds) lacks overall size, but his athleticism is just above average (4.49-second 40-yard dash) and his production in college was compelling. Tolbert's senior year for South Alabama was particularly memorable, as he recorded 82 receptions for 1,474 yards and eight touchdowns on 136 targets. He heads to Dallas as its likely fourth wide receiver behind CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup and free-agent signee James Washington, but Gallup's return from an ACL tear and Washington's less-than-convincing NFL production leave open the the slight possibility of an immediate impact from Tolbert.
