Not targeted in loss
Tolbert failed to record a single target in Monday's 27-17 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert was a complete nonfactor in Monday's loss to Arizona. The fourth-year wideout played just seven of the Cowboys' 67 offensive snaps in the contest, the least of any wide receiver who saw the field and his lowest snap total of the season. Tolbert has had a minimal role in the Cowboys offense, as he is buried on the depth chart and has seen just 24 targets through nine games. The 26-year-old should remain far off the fantasy radar as the Cowboys head into their Week 10 bye before a matchup against the Raiders in Week 11.

Hauls in late TD in Denver
Tolbert caught both his targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-24 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
The TD came late in the game when the outcome was already decided and the Cowboys had backup QB Joe Milton under center, but it was an impressive play nonetheless, as Tolbert ran under a perfectly placed deep ball from Milton for a 35-yard score. It was Tolbert's first touchdown of the season, and it came while he saw a season-low 14 snaps on offense, less than Ryan Flournoy (34) or KaVontae Turpin (30). Dallas appears content to have a revolving door in their WR3 spot depending on the matchup, but none of the team's depth options will see enough targets to have much fantasy value as long as CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are healthy.
Oct 20, 2025
One reception in Week 7 rout
Tolbert caught one of two targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 44-22 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
With CeeDee Lamb back from his ankle injury, Tolbert retained his No. 3 role on the wide receiver depth chart, playing 49 percent of the offensive snaps (33 of 67) for the Cowboys while KaVontae Turpin saw 30 percent (20 snaps) and Ryan Flournoy dropped to 28 percent (19). Those three players combined for just a 2-33-0 line on three targets however, as Dak Prescott's attention was mainly on Lamb, George Pickens and tight end Jake Ferguson. As long as the team's top two WRs are healthy, Tolbert's fantasy value will be minimal at best.
Oct 13, 2025
Just one target in loss
Tolbert caught his only target for eight yards in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
While the fourth-year wideout saw a 91 percent snap share on offense, that didn't translate into any kind of meaningful pass volume for a second straight contest, as Ryan Flournoy (9-144-0 in 15 targets in those two games) has clearly surpassed Tolbert as a trusted target for Dak Prescott. Tolbert's role figures to shrink further once CeeDee Lamb (ankle) and KaVontae Turpin (foot) return, and it wouldn't be a shock if he got bumped from the regular game-day roster completely at that point.
Oct 6, 2025
Blanked in Week 5
Tolbert failed to catch his only target in Sunday's win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
With CeeDee Lamb (ankle) and KaVontae Turpin (foot) both unavailable, the door was open for Tolbert to take on a much bigger role in the Cowboys' passing game, but it was Ryan Flournoy who walked through it instead. While Tolbert couldn't get any attention from Dak Prescott, Flournoy led the team in receiving yards, posting a 6-114-0 line on nine targets. Tolbert did play more offensive snaps than Flournoy, 46 to 34, but that's small comfort to fantasy GMs to took a flyer on him. Even if Lamb and Turpin remain out in Week 6 against the Panthers, Tolbert can't be relied upon.
Sep 29, 2025
Gains 61 yards on SNF
Tolbert brought in four of six targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 40-40 tie against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Dallas' coaching staff singled out Tolbert as a player that needed to step up in the absence of CeeDee Lamb (ankle). The 26-year-old Tolbert answered the call and surpassed his entire receiving production through three weeks in Sunday's contest. Tolbert finished third in targets and receptions for the Cowboys in Week 4, giving him deep-league appeal for next Sunday's tilt against the Jets.
Sep 24, 2025
Primed for larger role
Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said Wednesday that Tolbert will "have to step up" with CeeDee Lamb (ankle) expected to miss time, Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Schottenheimer mentioned that Tolbert led the team with seven touchdowns last year. The issue was that he didn't do much else with his ample playing time, ranking 13th among WRs in routes run (535) and 53d in receiving yards (610). Tolbert opened this season in a much lesser role, essentially splitting the No. 3 receiver job with KaVontae Turpin, before upgrading to team-high 89 percent route share in Week 3 when Lamb was injured early in the game. Tolbert may again handle an every-down role Week 4 against Green Bay, but the combination of a low target rate and tough matchup isn't promising for fantasy.
Sep 22, 2025
Season-high target volume in loss
Tolbert caught three of six targets for 24 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
While none of his receptions went for longer than 12 yards, Tolbert's six targets were a season high as he took on a bigger role in the Cowboys' passing attack following the early exit of CeeDee Lamb (ankle). Tolbert's 6-40-0 line on 12 targets through three games is uninspiring, but if Lamb misses additional time, Dak Prescott could look to his fourth-year wideout more frequently in a Week 4 tilt against the Packers.
Sep 15, 2025
Two grabs against Giants
Tolbert caught two of four targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 40-37 overtime win over the Giants. He added 85 yards on four kickoff returns.
ANALYSIS
KaVontae Turpin (neck) left midway through the game, pushing Tolbert into the primary kick returner role, and he was also back on a New York punt in OT but settled for a fair catch. The Cowboys' passing game has had a fairly narrow target tree so far -- one of CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens or Jake Ferguson were on the other end of 32 of Dak Prescott's 52 pass attempts during the contest -- but Tolbert hasn't done much with his rare receiving chances to earn a bigger share, posting a 3-16-0 line on six targets to begin 2025.
Sep 5, 2025
Little usage in opener
Tolbert caught one of two targets for zero yards in Thursday's loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys' target tree was narrow in their season opener, with CeeDee Lamb (13 targets), Jake Ferguson (six) and George Pickens (four) accounting for 23 of Dak Prescott's 34 throws on the night. Tolbert has little competition for the third spot on Dallas' wide receiver depth chart, but at least based on the first game with Brian Schottenheimer calling plays, it doesn't seem as though it's a role that will lead to much volume for the fourth-year player. Tolbert will try to get more involved in Week 2 against the Giants.
Aug 22, 2025
Not suited up Friday
Tolbert isn't dressed ahead of Friday's preseason game against the Falcons, Joe Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys are keeping QB Dak Prescott on the sideline in their exhibition finale and seem poised to do the same with a number of key players. Tolbert's inclusion in that group isn't much of a surprise considering he's the clear-cut No. 3 WR behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. A 2022 third-round pick,Tolbert is coming off his best campaign as a pro in which he put together a 49-610-7 line on 79 targets in 17 regular-season games in 2024.
Aug 10, 2025
Quiet in preseason opener
Tolbert caught one of two targets for minus-1 yard in Saturday's 31-21 preseason loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert failed to find much traction as the top wide receiver dressed for the Cowboys, who rested CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, as well as starting quarterback Dak Prescott. Tolbert's the clear favorite to begin the regular season as the team's No. 3 wideout after setting career highs in catches (49), receiving yards (610) and touchdown catches (seven) last season. Dallas' next preseason game will be Aug. 18 against the Bengals.
May 7, 2025
Drops to No. 3 role
Tolbert likely will be the Cowboys' No. 3 wide receiver after they traded for George Pickens, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert enjoyed a breakout of sorts in 2024, his third pro season, with a 49-610-7 receiving line on 79 targets, notably scoring on five of his seven chances inside the 10-yard line. He's never earned targets at a high rate, however, and even last season saw the ball on just 14.8 percent of routes, the sixth-lowest mark among WRs with 500-plus routes. Tolbert's potential competition for the No. 3 role is explosive return man KaVontae Turpin, who ran only 201 routes last season but was targeted on 25.9 percent of them.
Jan 5, 2025
Career-high 98 yards in Week 18
Tolbert caught four of six targets for 98 yards in Sunday's 23-19 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert showed nice chemistry with Trey Lance, who got the start under center for the season finale. The 25-year-old wide receiver set a single-game career high in receiving yards to finish his third NFL season on a high note. After setting career highs across the board with 49 catches for 610 yards and seven touchdowns on 79 targets in 2024, Tolbert will likely reprise his role as a depth option in a receiving corps led by CeeDee Lamb (shoulder) in 2025.
Dec 29, 2024
Catches touchdown in loss
Tolbert brought in three of four targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys' 41-7 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert recorded his seventh touchdown of the campaign on a four-yard grab with just under six minutes remaining in the first quarter, a catch that served as the highlight of his afternoon. The third-year pro battled through a finger injury to suit up Sunday, and he served as the No. 2 receiver in the Cowboys' first game without CeeDee Lamb (IR-shoulder). Tolbert will face an inconsistent Commanders secondary in a Week 18 home matchup to close out the season.
Dec 29, 2024
Good to go for Week 17
Tolbert (finger) is active for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After suffering a finger injury last week against the Buccaneers, Tolbert was limited at each practice during Week 17 prep and drew a questionable tag. He's been cleared to play and should have an increased role on tap, as CeeDee Lamb (shoulder) has been shut down for the season with the Cowboys out of playoff contention. Since Cooper Rush replaced Dak Prescott (hamstring) in Week 10, Tolbert has recorded 26 targets in seven games. However, he's secured less than half of those, posting a 12-129-3 line in that span.
Dec 27, 2024
Questionable for Sunday
Tolbert (finger) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest at Philadelphia, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
The finger injury suffered by Tolbert this past Sunday against the Buccaneers resulted in limited listings on all three Week 17 practice reports for the third-year wide receiver. If he's able to suit up Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET, he'll be helping to fill the void left behind by the Cowboys' top WR CeeDee Lamb, whose lingering shoulder injury shut him down for the season Thursday. Since Cooper Rush took over for Dak Prescott (hamstring) under center Week 10, Tolbert has notched a 12-129-3 line on 26 targets over the last seven games.
Dec 26, 2024
Another limited listing
Tolbert (finger) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert left this past Sunday's game against the Buccaneers just before halftime due to a finger injury and didn't return. Since then, he was listed as limited on the first two Week 17 practice reports, giving him one last chance Friday to return to full participation or otherwise risk entering the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest at Philadelphia. If he's able to suit up, Tolbert likely will have an elevated role in the Cowboys offense following news Thursday that CeeDee Lamb was shut down for the season due to a persisting shoulder issue.
Dec 25, 2024
Listed as limited Wednesday
Tolbert (finger) was listed as limited on Wednesday's estimated practice report, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert hurt his finger late in the first half of this past Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers and was unable to return. The fact he would have logged some activity if the Cowboys had held practice Wednesday generally is a good sign, but he may need to maintain that activity level, at least, to give himself a chance to avoid a designation by week's end.
Dec 22, 2024
Return questionable due to finger
Tolbert (finger) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert injured his finger attempting to make a contested catch late in the first half. Prior to the injury, he caught two of three targets for 20 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.
Dec 16, 2024
Finds end zone in Week 15 win
Tolbert caught one of two targets for an 11-yard touchdown in Sunday's win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout made his only grab of the day count, getting both feet down at the back of the end zone early in the third quarter for his fifth TD of the season. Tolbert has seen little volume since Cooper Rush took over as the Cowboys' QB, catching two passes or fewer in five straight games and posting a 7-95-2 line on 18 targets over that stretch. However, Tolbert might be able to hit paydirt again in Week 16 against the Buccaneers' vulnerable secondary.
Nov 30, 2024
Nabs two catches Thursday
Tolbert recorded two catches on four targets for 41 yards in Thursday's 27-20 Week 13 win against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Though he managed only two receptions, Tolbert finished second on the Cowboys in receiving yards thanks mostly to a 36-yard catch in the third quarter. He also logged the most offensive snaps (55, for a 72 percent snap share) among the team's wideouts. That was largely a result of CeeDee Lamb sitting out much of the third quarter and all of the fourth due to a shoulder injury. For the time being, there is optimism that Lamb won't have to miss any games due to the issue, but if the star wideout does end of being sidelined, Tolbert would likely ascend to the role of the Cowboys' No. 1 receiver.
Nov 25, 2024
Finds end zone Sunday
Tolbert caught two of four targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout gave the Cowboys a 10-9 lead late in the third quarter with his six-yard TD grab, setting the stage for a wild fourth quarter in an eventual 34-26 victory. Tolbert has caught two of his four touchdowns on the season since Cooper Rush replaced Dak Prescott (hamstring) under center but has otherwise struggled to make much of an impact, posting a 10-76-2 line on 20 targets over the last four games. With Brandin Cooks (knee) closing in on a return from IR, Tolbert could lose some volume as soon as a Week 13 clash with the Giants.
Nov 20, 2024
Two catches in loss
Tolbert caught two of his five targets for 21 yards in Monday's 34-10 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert continued his streak of underwhelming performances Monday, as the third-year wideout's two catches accounted for his lowest reception total since Week 1. Operating as the Cowboys' No. 2 wide receiver, Tolbert has seen a decline in his production much like the entire Dallas offense throughout the season. With Cooper Rush starting at quarterback, the 25-year-old receiver will likely continue to struggle to make much of an impact for fantasy going forward. Tolbert remains difficult to trust for fantasy purposes heading into a Week 12 matchup against the Commanders.
Nov 19, 2024
Just two catches in blowout loss
Tolbert finished with two receptions (five targets) for 21 yards in Monday's 34-10 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert's recent struggles with backup quarterback Cooper Rush under center continued or the second week in a row. The Cowboys' No. 2 option behind CeeDee Lamb (8-93-0) finished with totals even deep-league managers would cringe at over a two-week period. If someone walks through the doors of AT&T Stadium who can resuscitate Dallas' offense sans Dak Prescott (hamstring), then we could recommend Tolbert as a strong play in Week 12. Until then, the talented receiver's floor will remain low.
Nov 11, 2024
Three grabs against Philly
Tolbert caught three of five targets for 14 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The wideout's first game of the year without Dak Prescott (hamstring) under center didn't go smoothly. Tolbert got a few short receptions from Cooper Rush, but when Trey Lance took over the offense late, the duo failed to connect on a deep pass that went for an interception -- in fact, Tolbert never even turned around to see if the ball was coming his way. Prescott could be headed for season-ending surgery, and no matter who his replacement at QB is, Tolbert's ceiling figures to be a lot lower heading into a Week 11 clash with the Texans.
Nov 3, 2024
Snags TD in Sunday's loss
Tolbert caught three of six targets for 19 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-21 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
While he didn't generate much yardage, Tolbert salvaged his day with a four-yard TD late in the fourth quarter. The pass came from Cooper Rush and not Dak Prescott (hamstring), and with Prescott headed for an MRI on Monday, there's a real chance Rush could get the start in Week 10 against the Eagles. CeeDee Lamb was also nursing a sore shoulder late in Sunday's loss, so the Cowboys' passing game could look very different for that key divisional matchup.
Oct 30, 2024
Three grabs against 49ers
Tolbert caught all three of his targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 30-24 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert tied teammate CeeDee Lamb in snaps (55), operating as the Cowboys' clear No. 2 wideout. Sunday marked the sixth time in seven games in which the 25-year-old Tolbert recorded at least three catches. With the Cowboys facing a favorable passing game schedule down the stretch, its possible that the third-year receiver could see his role grow and have a more consistent impact. With that said, veteran Brandin Cooks (knee) is likely nearing a return from injured reserve, which could put a cap on Tolbert's upside. Up next for the Cowboys is a Week 9 matchup against the Saints.
Oct 14, 2024
Four receptions in blowout loss
Tolbert recorded four receptions on five targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 47-9 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys struggled to get their offense going throughout the game, which hurt Tolbert's stat line. He still managed to finish second on the team in yards thanks to a 26-yard reception midway through the first quarter. Dallas will head into their bye week, but Tolbert should keep his role as a key pass catcher in a Week 8 matchup against the 49ers.
Oct 7, 2024
Steps up sans starter
Tolbert finished with seven receptions (10 targets) for 87 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert saw his role on offense elevated while filling in for injured starter Brandin Cooks (knee) on Sunday. The former wound up being the hero of Sunday's victory after catching the game-winning touchdown pass with seconds remaining in regulation. Even more impressive is the fact that Tolbert appeared to injure his hand on the previous play, forcing Dallas to use its final timeout so the wideout could remain in the game. Cooks was shifted to injured reserve this weekend, so Tolbert could maintain his elevated role as the No. 2 behind CeeDee Lamb indefinitely.
Oct 3, 2024
Should benefit from Cooks' absence
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy suggested Wednesday that Tolbert could be in line for an increased role on offense with Brandin Cooks (knee) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers, and possibly longer, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. "I love the guys we have here," McCarthy said. "The two Jalens [Tolbert and Jalen Brooks], this is more opportunities for them, [KaVontae] Turpin. Yeah, love our practice squad guys. We'll be in good shape [at receiver]."
ANALYSIS
Tolbert has already been a regular fixture in three-receiver sets this season, with his snap shares ranging from 67 to 85 percent through four games. While Cooks' absence may not necessarily lead to a dramatic spike in playing time for Tolbert, the 4.8 targets per contest that Cooks had been averaging could be redistributed to Tolbert and others. CeeDee Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson will likely continue to rank as quarterback Dak Prescott's preferred options in the passing game, but with none of the team's running backs representing major receiving threats, Tolbert could emerge as the clear No. 3 target sans Cooks.
Sep 27, 2024
Three catches in win
Tolbert brought in all three targets for 24 yards in the Cowboys' 20-15 win over the Giants on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert was a distant third to CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson in the pass-catching hierarchy, but he notably recorded two more receptions and eight more yards than No. 2 receiver Brandin Cooks. Tolbert now has more receptions and receiving yards than Cooks in three straight games, while the former's 17 targets over that span also notably outpace the latter's 12 in the same span. It remains to be seen if there will be any official depth chart swap between the two wideouts, but either way, Tolbert figures to have a modest but reliable role in a Week 5 road matchup against the Steelers on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Sep 23, 2024
Hauls in first TD of season
Tolbert caught three of five targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout was on the other end of Dak Prescott's first TD pass of the game, a 15-yard strike midway through the fourth quarter as the Cowboys tried to rally from a 28-6 deficit. Tolbert has out-produced Brandin Cooks in back-to-back games, and through three weeks the younger player has a 10-136-1 line on 16 targets compared to Cooks' 8-75-1 line on 15 targets. Tolbert could continue to push for the team's No. 2 receiver role in Week 4 against the Giants.
Sep 15, 2024
Career-best performance in loss
Tolbert caught six of nine targets for 82 yards in Sunday's 44-19 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout led the Cowboys in targets on the afternoon, and his receptions and yardage were both career highs. Tolbert had a quiet performance in the team's opener, but his usage Sunday dwarfed Brandin Cooks, who saw only two targets, and is a good sign that the 2022 third-round pick could be headed for a breakout campaign. Tolbert will attempt to build on this effort in Week 3 against the Ravens.
Aug 26, 2024
Held out of preseason
Tolbert didn't suit up for any of Dallas' preseason contests this year.
ANALYSIS
Dak Prescott and the rest of the team's first-string players were kept out of the preseason entirely, with Tolbert counting among that group. The 2022 third-round pick could be poised for a big role to begin the season with CeeDee Lamb still holding out and Brandin Cooks (knee) not 100 percent, as Tolbert looks to build on the 22-268-2 line on 36 targets he compiled over 17 regular-season games last year.
Aug 6, 2024
Shining in camp
Tolbert has been one of the most impressive players so far in Cowboys training camp, Nick Harris of the team's website reports.
ANALYSIS
With CeeDee Lamb holding out while seeking a contract extension, Tolbert has used the available first-team reps to solidify his hold on the WR3 job. The third-year player out of South Alabama was the wideout who worked with Dak Prescott the most this offseason, and the duo is flashing much-improved chemistry in camp. If Lamb's holdout extends into the regular season, or he has a slow start due to the time he missed, Tolbert seems positioned to burst out of the gates on the 2024 campaign.
Jul 26, 2024
Dazzles on Day 1
Tolbert made a spectacular red-zone catch on the first day of training camp practices Thursday, and quarterback Dak Prescott is expecting a breakout campaign from the wideout, Nick Harris of DallasCowboys.com reports. "He's worked all offseason and he's gonna make another jump from year two to year three as he did from one to two," Prescott said after practice. "Super proud of him and everything he's done. That catch is a testament to our connection, my trust in him and the hard work he's put in this offsea
ANALYSIS
A golden opportunity lies in front of Tolbert to begin camp, as CeeDee Lamb is holding out while seeking a contract extension, Michael Gallup is no longer on the roster and Brandin Cooks will turn 31 years old in September and may have lost a step. A third-round pick in 2022, Tolbert began to turn his athleticism into production last year while suiting up for all 17 games, and if he takes the leap forward that Prescott is predicting, he could become a key target for a QB who led the league in passing TDs in 2023 and finished third in passing yards.
May 3, 2024
Should have larger role in 2024
Tolbert is in line for a larger role this season after working as the Cowboys' No. 4 WR in 2023, David Moore of The Dallas Morning News reports
ANALYSIS
After playing just 89 snaps on offense as a rookie, the 2022 third-round pick got a lot more playing time (477 snaps) in his second season, essentially splitting the No. 3 receiver role with Michael Gallup for much of the year. Gallup is now in Las Vegas and hasn't been replaced by a similar veteran or early draft pick, leaving Tolbert as the likely third WR behind entrenched starters CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. While the role won't necessarily entail a large quantity of targets, Tolbert at least would be positioned for a degree of fantasy value if Lamb were to miss any time with an injury.
Jan 22, 2024
Makes progress in second season
Tolbert caught 22 of 36 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns over 17 regular-season games in 2023.
ANALYSIS
After a rough rookie campaign that saw the 2022 third-round pick get into the active lineup for only eight games, Tolbert was noticeably more reliable in 2023, and in the second half he was essentially splitting the No. 3 receiver role with Michael Gallup. There's a chance both Gallup and Brandin Cooks could be in different uniforms next season, which could position Tolbert to be the Cowboys' No. 2 wideout behind CeeDee Lamb, but it's more likely he heads into 2024 in roughly the same spot on the depth chart he occupies now.
Jan 8, 2024
Grabs TD against Washington
Tolbert caught two of three targets for eight yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-10 romp over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
The second-year wideout connected with Dak Prescott on a three-yard TD to open the scoring in the first quarter. Tolbert saw a limited role in the offense during the regular season, essentially splitting the No. 3 role with Michael Gallup behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks, but he showed significant improvement from his disappointing rookie campaign and caught 22 of 36 targets for 268 yards and two touchdowns over 17 games. Tolbert will look to make a postseason splash when the Cowboys face the Packers in the wild-card round Sunday.
Dec 25, 2023
Big gain in Week 16 loss
Tolbert caught both his targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 22-20 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson were the only Cowboys to see more than two targets on the day, but Tolbert did the most he could with his, connecting with Dak Prescott on a 45-yard gain in the third quarter that set up a Brandon Aubrey field goal. Tolbert's role in the Dallas offense remains inconsistent, but the second-year wideout has caught multiple passes in five of the last eight contests, posting a modest 12-180-1 line on 22 targets over that stretch.
Dec 17, 2023
Will play Sunday
Tolbert (illness) is active Sunday against the Bills, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert was able to log a limited practice Friday despite feeling ill after he logged a DNP on Thursday. The second-year pro's ability to suit up should be a boost to the Cowboys' depth at wide receiver, where Tolbert sees a steady diet of snaps, leading to 17 catches on 30 targets for 200 yards and a touchdown this season.
Dec 15, 2023
Questionable for Week 15
Tolbert (illness) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert missed practice Thursday but got in a limited session Friday. He's carved out a part-time offensive role behind starters CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks and has 17 catches for 200 yards and one touchdown on the season. If Tolbert is unable to play Sunday, Michael Gallup, Jalen Brooks and KaVontae Turpin would be next in line for snaps.
Nov 27, 2023
Two grabs against Washington
Tolbert caught two of three targets for 49 yards in a 45-10 rout of the Commanders on Thanksgiving.
ANALYSIS
He was one of 10 different Cowboys to catch passes from Dak Prescott on the afternoon, with Tolbert posting gains of 31 and 18 yards on his two grabs. The second-year wideout still doesn't have a big role in the offense, but he's pushing Michael Gallup for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart and has caught at least two passes in four straight games, posting a 9-112-1 line on 18 targets over that stretch compared to Gallup's 8-133-1 performance on 11 targets.
Nov 13, 2023
Quiet day in rout
Tolbert caught two of five targets for two yards in Sunday's 49-17 rout of the Giants.
ANALYSIS
While rookie Jalen Brooks got a chance to shine in garbage time, catching all four of his targets for 39 yards, Tolbert had far less success and actually lost yards on one of his two grabs. The 2022 third-round pick has at least begun to see consistent volume, getting five targets in each of the last two games as the Dallas passing game opens up, but as long as CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks are healthy, Tolbert has a tough path to consistent fantasy value.
Nov 5, 2023
Catches first career TD
Tolbert caught three of five targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-23 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The second-year wideout hauled in his first career TD in the fourth quarter as the Cowboys tried to rally from a 28-17 deficit, getting free in the end zone for a seven-yard strike as Dak Prescott escaped the pocket and bought some time. Tolbert hadn't caught a single pass in the three prior games, so his role in the offense is far from consistent, but he appears to be earning some trust from his QB -- and veterans Michael Gallup and Brandin Cooks, the two receivers immediately ahead of him on the depth chart, haven't exactly been reliable themselves. Tolbert will look to build on Sunday's performance in Week 10 against the Giants.

Loses fumble Monday
Tolbert went without a target and was charged with a lost fumble on a muffed punt in Monday's 20-17 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
When the Chargers punted away with just under nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Tolbert thought return man KaVontae Turpin inadvertently touched the football, prompting Tolbert to lunge after the ball. Tolbert was actually the first Cowboys player to touch the ball, however, and was charged with a lost fumble when Chargers linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga recovered the loose ball. The Chargers were able to score a game-tying touchdown on the ensuing possession, but the special teams gaffe ultimately didn't cost the Cowboys a win. Tolbert should continue to have a role on the Cowboys' coverage and return units, but he doesn't look as though he'll be much more than a depth option at receiver. After catching four passes in a Week 4 win over New England, Tolbert has gone untargeted in two straight games, despite playing 37 snaps on offense between those contests.

Makes impact in Sunday's rout
Tolbert caught all four of his targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 38-3 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The catches and receiving yards were career highs for the second-year wideout, but Tolbert made his biggest impact on special teams, laying out punt returner Demario Douglas at New England's 10-yard line with a huge hit early in the second quarter while the outcome of the game was still in doubt. With the Pats pinned deep, Mac Jones got sacked two plays later and coughed up a fumble that Leighton Vander Esch returned to the house. Tolbert is still stuck behind CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup on the Cowboys' WR depth chart, giving him little fantasy value in most formats, but should an injury open up more snaps and targets for the 24-year-old, he seems ready to seize the opportunity.

Three grabs in win over Jets
Tolbert caught three of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 30-10 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
With Brandin Cooks (knee) sidelined, most of Dak Prescott's attention went to CeeDee Lamb, but Tolbert was able to put together the first multi-catch game of his career. The second-year wideout also out-produced Michael Gallup, who managed only one catch for three yards. Tolbert doesn't yet have a big role in the Dallas passing game, but he appears to be taking a big step forward after a tough rookie campaign. He'll try to build on this performance in Week 3 against the Cardinals.
Sep 17, 2023
Likely to step in as No. 3 wideout
Tolbert is expected to serve as Dallas' No. 3 receiver in Sunday's game against the Jets with Brandin Cooks (knee) listed as questionable but not in line to play, Joseph Hoyt of LoneStarLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After playing 16 snaps on offense and drawing one target in the Cowboys' 40-0 win over the Giants in the season opener, Tolbert is projected to see an expanded role Week 2 while Dallas is without one of its top three wideouts in Cooks. CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup are still available for the Cowboys, and tight end Jake Ferguson and running back Tony Pollard are also expected to retain key roles in the passing game, so Tolbert still might not find himself any higher than fifth in the pecking order for targets from quarterback Dak Prescott.

Impresses again in Saturday's loss
Tolbert brought in four of six targets for 66 yards in the Cowboys' 22-14 preseason loss to the Seahawks on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Last year's third-round pick continued to offer hints he may be capable of putting a washout of a rookie season behind with his second straight impressive preseason performance. The South Alabama product led the Cowboys in receptions, receiving yards and targets, pushing his line to 6-95-1 across his first pair of exhibition contests. Tolbert is essentially assured of a roster spot already, but another strong effort in the preseason finale against the Raiders next Saturday night could raise expectations of what he'll be capable of as the presumptive No. 4 receiver.
Aug 13, 2023
Continues strong offseason
Tolbert corralled both of his targets for 29 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason loss to Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert caught the Cowboy's first receiving touchdown in the second quarter with the team's key wide receivers sitting out the first exhibition game. The 24-year-old was already making a good impression on the coaching staff in camp, and his hard work appeared to have paid off in the end zone. Tolbert will look to continue making strides this preseason as he attempts to lock up the No. 4 spot on the receiver depth chart.
Jul 27, 2023
Solid start to camp
Tolbert worked with the first-team offense Wednesday during the first day of training camp, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The South Alabama product is trying to put a rough rookie season behind him, and he looked good to begin camp while making a number of nice catches. Tolbert is hoping to establish himself as the Cowboys' No. 4 wideout this season, but even in a potent passing game his fantasy value in that role figures to be limited as long as CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup are all healthy.
Jun 2, 2023
Looking more comfortable in Year 2
Tolbert has made several impressive plays in OTAs, including during the two-minute drill, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' website reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2022 third-round pick out of South Alabama did little as a rookie, seeing action in only eight games and catching two of three targets for 12 yards, and his small-school background seemed to leave him ill-prepared for the complexities of an NFL offense. Tolbert did flash impressive athleticism in college though, and his good early showing in OTAs suggests he has a better handle on the playbook and is no longer lost on the field. He has a tough climb to become fantasy-relevant, however, and he'll head into mandatory minicamp battling Simi Fehoko for the No. 4 spot on the Dallas depth chart at wide receiver.
Jan 28, 2023
Disappointing rookie campaign
Tolbert caught two of three targets for 12 yards over eight games in 2022.
ANALYSIS
Drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of South Alabama, Tolbert was viewed as a raw, athletic prospect who might need some time to adjust to the level of play in the NFL, but the Cowboys clearly didn't anticipate just how big that adjustment was going to be. The 23-year-old was inactive for the first two games of the season despite the team's lack of healthy, reliable wideouts behind CeeDee Lamb, and even after Tolbert did begin to draw into the gameday lineup, he failed to make any kind of impact, and he returned to inactive status for the final five games of the regular season plus both of Dallas' playoff games. With a full offseason in the program ahead to hone his skills and with a better idea of what he needs to do to succeed in the NFL, Tolbert could make a big leap in his second season, but there's little reason to put him on the fantasy radar as anything more than a dart throw in dynasty formats until he proves himself on the field.

Inactive for wild-card matchup
Tolbert (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's wild-card matchup against the Buccaneers, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert was a healthy scratch for the final five games of the regular season and will be inactive once again to start the postseason. Dallas' wideout corps Monday night will consist of CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, Noah Brown, T.Y. Hilton and KaVontae Turpin.
Jan 8, 2023
Won't suit up Week 18
Tolbert (coach's decision) has been ruled inactive prior to Sunday's game against the Commanders, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert will finish the 2022 regular as a healthy scratch for the fifth week in a row. With veteran wideout T.Y. Hilton taking on a bigger role in Dallas' receiving corps, it's likely Tolbert could remain a non-factor heading into the 2022 playoffs.
Dec 29, 2022
Sitting Week 17
Tolbert (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Titans, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert is set for his third consecutive absence, each of which has come as a healthy scratch. Most recently, that's been due to the addition of T.Y. Hilton, who caught a 52-yard pass in his debut with the Cowboys in Week 16.
Dec 11, 2022
On inactive list
Tolbert (coach's decision) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Texans, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie third-round pick suited up for the past seven games but won't play Sunday, as James Washington (foot) is making his 2022 debut after being activated off injured reserve. Tolbert has only two receptions for 12 yards in eight contests this season.
Oct 30, 2022
Likely No. 3 wideout Week 8
Tolbert could serve as the Cowboys' No. 3 receiver in Sunday's game against the Bears with Noah Brown (foot) inactive for the contest, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Heading into training camp, Tolbert looked like a leading candidate to open the season as the Cowboys' No. 2 wideout behind CeeDee Lamb, but a poor preseason resulted in him being a healthy scratch Week 1. Tolbert's outlook hasn't changed much for the better since that time, as he was inactive in four of the Cowboys' first seven games and fell further down the pecking order at receiver when Michael Gallup returned from a torn ACL in Week 4. Lamb and Gallup are both suiting up Sunday, but the absence of Brown creates an opportunity for Tolbert to see meaningful playing time on offense for the first time since Week 3, when he logged 23 snaps. With Brown out and James Washington (foot) on injured reserve, the Cowboys aren't left with much depth at the position beyond Tolbert, as the lone other active wideout Sunday is 5-foot-9, 153-pound return man KaVontae Turpin, who profiles as more of a gadget player on offense than a true receiver.
Oct 9, 2022
Not playing Sunday
Tolbert (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Sunday at the Rams, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Through the first five games of his career, Tolbert has made just one appearance to date. With the rookie third-round pick again in street clothes, the Cowboys' receiving corps will be composed of CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, Noah Brown, Simi Fehoko and KaVontae Turpin.
Oct 2, 2022
Sitting again Sunday
Tolbert (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Commanders, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
For the third time in four games to begin his career, Tolbert will be a healthy scratch for the Cowboys. It's not a surprise with Michael Gallup back in the lineup for the first time since tearing his ACL back on Jan. 2, and Tolbert now be in danger of being a regular inactive for the team without an injury elsewhere in Dallas' receiving corps.
Sep 28, 2022
Catches one pass in win
Tolbert caught one of two targets for four yards in Monday's 23-16 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert played on 36 percent of the Cowboys' offensive snaps in his pro debut, but he was only able to reel in one of his two targets in the contest. The rookie was an afterthought in the offense, as teammates CeeDee Lamb and Noah Brown soaked up the majority of the wide receiver targets from quarterback Cooper Rush. Tolbert will have to wait to prove himself on the field, but the imminent return of Michael Gallup (knee) and Dalton Schultz (knee) will likely make it difficult for the 23-year-old wideout to see any significant playing time. Tolbert will likely remain far off the fantasy radar when the Cowboys host the Commanders in Week 4.
Sep 26, 2022
In line for pro debut
Tolbert is listed as active Monday at the Giants, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie third-round pick thus is in line for his pro debut after being a healthy scratch for both of the Cowboys' first two games of the season. It's unclear what kind of workload he can expect, but the offense again will be without Michael Gallup (knee), and No. 1 tight end Dalton Schultz (knee) also isn't playing, so Tolbert could get in the mix behind CeeDee Lamb and Noah Brown.
Sep 18, 2022
Takes seat again in Week 2
Tolbert (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Bengals, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
For a second consecutive game to begin his career, the rookie third-round pick won't be available to a Cowboys offense that's without fellow pass catchers Michael Gallup (knee, inactive) and James Washington (foot, IR). The decision to delay Tolbert's pro debut is an interesting one, especially with Dak Prescott (thumb) sidelined for the foreseeable future. In any case, interim starting quarterback Cooper Rush will have CeeDee Lamb, Noah Brown, Dennis Houston, Simi Fehoko and KaVontae Turpin available at wide receiver Week 2.
Sep 11, 2022
Not active Sunday
Tolbert (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
With Michael Gallup not yet ready to return from a torn ACL, Tolbert was believed to be a part of the plan at wide receiver as a rookie third-round pick in the early going. Instead, coach Mike McCarthy has made Tolbert a healthy scratch, meaning the Cowboys' active WRs are CeeDee Lamb, Noah Brown, Dennis Houston, Simi Fehoko and KaVontae Turpin in Week 1.
Aug 27, 2022
Another shaky showing
Tolbert caught two of five targets for nine yards in Friday's preseason game against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
A patchwork offensive line gave Dallas' quarterbacks little time to operate in the pocket, and as a result the whole offense sputtered at times, but Tolbert still did little with the opportunities he got. The 2022 third-round pick figures to be leaned on heavily to open the regular season with Michael Gallup (knee) and James Washington (foot) both sidelined, and Tolbert has yet to see game action with Dak Prescott, but his preseason performances suggest the South Alabama product may not be ready to make an immediate splash in the NFL.
Aug 21, 2022
Pair of grabs in win
Tolbert brought in two of four targets for 25 yards in the Cowboys' 32-18 preseason win over the Chargers on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
The rookie drew the start and turned in a solid effort overall while working with Cooper Rush as his quarterback. Tolbert's numbers were an improvement on the 2-7-0 line he furnished in the preseason opener against the Broncos last Saturday night, and he remains slated for a solid role to open the regular season with Michael Gallup (knee) and James Washington (foot) projected to be unavailable.
Aug 19, 2022
Showing growth in practice
Tolbert was more consistent this week during joint practices with the Chargers after a rough performance in the Cowboys' preseason opener, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie receiver caught only two of his seven targets and got flagged for a false start against the Broncos last Saturday, but Tolbert appears to have put it behind him. "I'm learning more and more about each [wide receiver] position as I go," he said after Thursday's practice. "And so, me just being able to move around and understand more - in the game Saturday, it was kind of flying around on me. Overall, I'm picking it up. I'm good. Now, I'm just working on being consistent. My main goal was to come out here, be consistent and compete hard, and I think I did a very good job of that." With Michael Gallup (knee) and James Washington (foot) both set to miss the beginning of the regular season, there will be a lot of pressure on Tolbert to handle a big role from the jump despite being a third-round pick from a smaller conference. If he continues to show progress and can maybe add better preseason numbers to his resume before Week 1, his status as a fantasy sleeper will be a lot more secure.
Aug 14, 2022
Two grabs in preseason opener
Tolbert brought in two of seven targets for 10 yards in the Cowboys' 17-7 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert was the target on Cooper Rush's first two pass attempts, neither which was caught. The rookie did draw a pass interference penalty on the first play of the Cowboys' third drive and subsequently got on the board with a pair of receptions, making it a busy yet modest night for the third-round pick. Tolbert's next opportunity to ramp up for what should be a solid role right from the start of his career comes in a road battle against the Chargers next Saturday night.
Aug 3, 2022
Team shows confidence in rookie
Tolbert remains in line to start for the Cowboys, David Moore of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The third-round pick out of South Alabama already appeared to be one of the favorites for a Week 1 starting spot opposite CeeDee Lamb heading into training camp, but James Washington's foot injury removes Tolbert's top competition from the equation. Owner/GM Jerry Jones also indicated in the wake of Washington's injury that the team wouldn't rush out and sign a veteran wideout to replace him, although the Cowboys could change direction after seeing how depth WR options like Noah Brown and undrafted rookie Dennis Houston look in the preseason. Eventually Washington and Michael Gallup (knee) will both be back in the mix, so Tolbert will need to have a quick start to the season to maintain his snaps and targets.
Jul 28, 2022
Flashing early chemistry with Dak
Tolbert showed a good rapport with quarterback Dak Prescott on the first day of training camp, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
In particular, the duo connected on a sideline pass in traffic during a two-minute drill. Tolbert has a golden opportunity ahead of him for a significant role in the Cowboys' passing game with Amari Cooper in Cleveland and Michael Gallup (knee) not guaranteed to be ready for Week 1, but the third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft will need to prove in camp he's ready for it.
Jul 14, 2022
Could be Week 1 starter
Tolbert participated in workouts with Dak Prescott and other key members of the Cowboys offense earlier this month, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Top tight end Dalton Schultz was part of the group, as were CeeDee Lamb and Ezekiel Elliott. Tolbert also saw reps with the first-team offense at the end of minicamp, and with Michael Gallup not expected to be healthy for the beginning of the season, the third-round rookie could find himself in the starting lineup in Week 1, lining up either opposite Lamb on the outside or working out of the slot. An impressive performance in training camp would help solidify Tolbert's spot and convince the Cowboys they don't need to bring in additional veteran depth at wide receiver.
Jun 14, 2022
Back at practice Tuesday
Tolbert (hamstring) got a ton of reps in during Tuesday's mandatory minicamp, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie wideout had been nursing a hamstring during OTAs, but he appears to have moved past the issue and looks poised to carve out a roll in Dallas. With Michael Gallup's (knee) status for Week 1 uncertain, Tolbert will likely compete with fellow newcomer James Washington (foot) for heavy snaps behind No. 1 wideout Ceedee Lamb.
May 27, 2022
Nursing hamstring issue
Tolbert is dealing with a hamstring injury at OTAs, Nick Eatman & Layten Praytor of the Cowboys' official site report.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert joins Michael Gallup (torn ACL) and James Washington (foot) on the sideline during the early portion of OTAs. The rookie third-round pick should have ample opportunities for practice reps once back on the field, but Dallas may also hesitate to rush him back from a hamstring strain. For now, the likes of Noah Brown, Simi Fehoko and T.J. Vasher will benefit from added work behind No. 1 wideout CeeDee Lamb.
Apr 29, 2022
New weapon for Prescott
The Cowboys selected Tolbert in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 88th overall.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert (6-foot-1, 194 pounds) lacks overall size, but his athleticism is just above average (4.49-second 40-yard dash) and his production in college was compelling. Tolbert's senior year for South Alabama was particularly memorable, as he recorded 82 receptions for 1,474 yards and eight touchdowns on 136 targets. He heads to Dallas as its likely fourth wide receiver behind CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup and free-agent signee James Washington, but Gallup's return from an ACL tear and Washington's less-than-convincing NFL production leave open the the slight possibility of an immediate impact from Tolbert.
