The Raiders signed Davis off the practice squad Tuesday.

The 26-year-old was a first-round pick by Washington in the 2021 Draft but was cut by the new Commanders coaching staff last summer. He's appeared in 54 career regular-season games, logging 8.0 sacks. Davis will provide some depth in Las Vegas.

The Jets released Davis on Sunday.

Davis re-signed with the team in March but was unable to earn a spot on the final roster. The 2021 first-round pick racked up 18 tackles (12 solo) across nine games with both the Vikings and Commanders last season and will now look to catch on with a new team.

Davis agreed to a one-year deal with the Jets on Thursday, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.

Davis was claimed off waivers by New York in late December and did not appear in a game. The 26-year-old linebacker bounced around the league last year, joining the Vikings after being released by the Commanders earlier in the season. The 2021 first-round pick has hardly played to his draft status thus far and will likely serve as a special teams player for new head coach Aaron Glenn in 2025.

The Jets claimed Davis off waivers Monday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Davis, a 2021 first-round pick from Kentucky, was claimed off waivers Monday after being dropped by the Vikings following their Week 16 win over the Seahawks. He's appeared in nine games for the Commanders and Vikings this season, recording 18 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, over just 106 defensive snaps. Now that Davis has linked up with Gang Green, he's expected to serve as a depth piece in the team's linebacker room for the Week 18 matchup against the Dolphins.

Davis logged 1.0 sacks in Sunday's 42-21 win over the Falcons.

While Pace is sidelined, Davis and Brian Asamoah will serve as Minnesota's rotational inside linebackers behind starters Blake Cashman and Kamu Grugier-Hill.

Davis was released by the Commanders on Oct. 22 after seeing limited playing time on defense across five regular-season games, during which he accumulated 13 tackles (eight solo). Davis gives the Packers additional depth at linebacker, and the 2021 first-round pick could be elevated for Sunday's game against the Lions if starting outside linebacker Quay Walker is unable to clear concussion protocols.

With Washington going to a 3-4 scheme under head coach Dan Quinn, Davis doesn't appear to have an established role in the defense to start the regular season. The 2021 first-round pick's next chance at suiting up will be Week 3 against the Bengals on Sept. 23.

Quinn said "we're trying to really push [Davis] specifically on the versatility," and that "you'll see him working some with the defensive line, you'll see him working with [pass rush specialist] Ryan Kerrigan on the side." Davis is entering a contract season after having his fifth-year option declined, and the additions of Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu raise questions about the extent of his role. Also contributing as a pass-rusher on at least a rotational basis would help boost Davis' fantasy ceiling in IDP formats. He underwent season-ending shoulder surgery back in December, but it appears that Davis has already resumed taking reps at spring practices.

Washington took Davis with the 19th pick in the 2021 Draft, and while he's started 36 of 45 games through three seasons, his elite athleticism (4.47 40, 42-inch vertical) hasn't translated to elite performance. The 25-year-old likely will be a starter again in 2024 under new coach Dan Quinn, but it won't come as any surprise if this ends up being Davis' final year in Washington. He had season-ending shoulder surgery in December, potentially impacting his participation in spring practices.

He instantly becomes one of the most athletic linebackers in the NFL, joining a defense that was already among the most talented in the league. That doesn't necessarily mean Davis will handle a three-down role or even a starting job, but he at least has a shot to earn it, working with the first-team defense right out of the gate. Coach Ron Rivera even mentioned Davis when he was asked about players who impressed him with retention of what they learned during the offseason program.
