Returns to KC on practice squad
The Chiefs signed Brownlee to their practice squad Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee had been on Kansas City's active roster until he was waived Monday. Rather than explore an opportunity elsewhere, the 26-year-old wideout is returning to the Chiefs as a member of the practice squad. Brownlee has played in five of the team's six games so far this season but has drawn just one target on offense while doing most of his work on special teams.

Let go by Chiefs
Brownlee was waived by the Chiefs on Monday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee has been active for five of six games this season, contributing almost exclusively on special teams. He's likely to get an opportunity elsewhere around the league, or he could return to the Kansas City practice squad.

Signs futures deal with Kansas City
The Chiefs signed Brownlee to a reserve/future contract Tuesday, Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad Jan. 15 to give Kansas City depth at wide receiver during the postseason. He wasn't elevated to the active roster, but by signing a futures deal, Brownlee will be on Kansas City's 90-man roster when the new league year begins March 12. That allows him to work with the Chiefs' coaching staff during OTAs, minicamp and training camp and work to earn a spot on the 53-man roster for the 2025 season.

Lands in Kansas City
Brownlee signed with the Chiefs' practice squad Wednesday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee spent time on the Jets' practice squad this season, after appearing in seven games for the franchise in 2023. He'll now get an opportunity with Kansas City in advance of their game Saturday against the Texans.

Back with Gang Green on taxi squad
The Jets signed Brownlee to the practice squad Friday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee was let go from the Jets' 53-man roster Wednesday after tight end Brenden Bates was claimed off waivers. Brownlee began 2023 on the Jets' practice squad and played in seven regular-season games, finishing his rookie campaign with five catches (on eight targets) for 56 yards and one touchdown. Mike Williams (knee) and Irvin Charles (hip) are both dealing with injuries, and if either of them cannot suit up for the Jets' season opener against the 49ers on Sept. 9, Brownlee would be a prime candidate to be elevated to the active roster.

Waived to make room for new TE
Brownlee was waived by the Jets on Wednesday
ANALYSIS
Brownlee made the initial 53-man roster Tuesday but was subsequently waived to make room for incoming tight end Brenden Bates, whom the Jets claimed on waivers from Chicago on Wednesday. If Brownlee passes through waivers unclaimed, he will likely be added to the Jets' practice squad, where he began his rookie season last year before ultimately dressing for seven regular-season games.

Catches TD in preseason opener
Brownlee caught one two targets for a 12-yard touchdown in Saturday's 20-17 preseason win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee couldn't come down with a contested deep ball from Tyrod Taylor in the first quarter but caught a fade in the end zone from Andrew Peasley for a 12-yard touchdown in the second. Brownlee appeared in seven games for the Jets in 2023 after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent, but he finds himself on the roster bubble heading into 2024 after the team bolstered its receiving corps in the offseason. This was a promising start in Brownlee's quest to make the team, and he'll look to build off this performance next Saturday against the Panthers.

Non-factor in Week 18 win
Brownlee didn't catch his lone target in Sunday's 17-3 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Trevor Siemian completed only eight passes in the snowy win, and none of those completions went to Brownlee. The Jets' lack of depth at wide receiver paved the way for Brownlee to see consistent playing time on the outside down the stretch, but the undrafted rookie out of Southern Miss didn't do much with the opportunities, catching five of eight targets for 56 yards and a touchdown across seven appearances.
Dec 29, 2023
Career-high 28 yards Thursday
Brownlee caught both of his targets for 28 yards in Thursday's 37-20 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
After scoring his first NFL touchdown this past Sunday, Brownlee set a new career high in receiving yards Thursday, so it has been a productive week for the rookie from Southern Miss. He'll look to put down some more quality game film in Week 18 against the Patriots and strengthen his case for sticking with the Jets beyond this season.
Dec 25, 2023
Scores first TD in Week 16 win
Brownlee caught one of three targets for an eight-yard touchdown in Sunday's 30-28 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee put the Jets up 10-0 just 3:34 into the game with his first NFL touchdown. The undrafted rookie out of Southern Miss played 82 percent of offensive snaps in his return from a two-game absence due to an ankle injury, and Brownlee will likely remain in a starting role on the outside opposite Garrett Wilson against the Browns on Thursday.
Dec 21, 2023
Clears injury designation
Brownlee (ankle) was listed as a full participant on the Jets' injury report Thursday. Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee should be good to go for Sunday's game against the Commanders, although it's worth noting his participation level was just an estimate, as the Jets only held a walkthrough practice Thursday.
Dec 20, 2023
Listed as limited
Brownlee (ankle) was limited on the Jets' estimated practice report for Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee's role in the Jets' offense appeared to be expanding, but unfortunately for the 24-year-old, he suffered an ankle injury during a Week 13 matchup with the Falcons and has been out of action since. Although the Jets only held a walkthrough Wednesday, his listing as limited is a step in the right direction after he failed to practice leading up to Week 15's game against the Dolphins.
Dec 15, 2023
Will be sidelined again Week 15
Brownlee (ankle) has been Rich Cimini of ESPN.com of Sunday's clash with the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee suffered an ankle injury against Atlanta in Week 13 and will now miss his second straight game. He didn't practice at all this week, so his status for Week 16 against Washington could be in doubt as well. Brownlee logged only two offensive snaps prior to Week 11, but his role was on the rise prior to the injury, as he had played on over half of the Jets' offensive snaps in two straight contests.
Dec 13, 2023
Held out of practice Wednesday
Brownlee (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee hurt his ankle against the Falcons in Week 13 and wasn't able to play in Sunday's Week 14 win over Houston. His inability to practice Wednesday doesn't bode well for his chance of returning this Sunday in Miami, though he'll have two more practice sessions before the weekend to try to get back on the field. Brownlee had seen his opportunities on the rise prior to getting hurt, and he logged a season-high 98 percent of the Jets' offensive snaps while grabbing both of his targets for 20 yards Week 12 against the Dolphins.
Dec 8, 2023
Ruled out for Week 14
Brownlee (ankle) won't play Sunday against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Brownless was unable to practice in any capacity throughout the week after being injured in this past Sunday's loss to the Falcons. Allen Lazard will likely draw the start opposite Garrett Wilson on the outside, with Xavier Gipson manning the slot for a Jets offense that will have Zach Wilson back under center against the Texans.
Dec 6, 2023
Not at practice
Brownlee (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee was injured during Sunday's loss to Atlanta and never ended up returning after his early exit. It was his second start of the year (and second in a row), but even in a near-every-down role he wasn't getting many targets. The undrafted rookie out of Southern Miss has two targets on 112 snaps this year.
Dec 3, 2023
Won't return in Week 13
Brownlee (ankle) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee sustained the ankle injury after getting undercut by a Falcons' defender. He finished the game without recording a stat.

First NFL receptions Friday
Brownlee caught both of his targets for 20 yards in Friday's 34-13 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
With fellow wide receiver Allen Lazard (coach's decision) inactive, Brownlee played all but one of New York's 58 offensive snaps while working on the outside opposite Garrett Wilson. The undrafted rookie out of Southern Miss made his first two NFL catches. Brownlee had appeared in two previous games and played 21 offensive snaps without being targeted. With the 4-7 Jets falling out of the playoff race, they may start placing a greater emphasis on getting the ball to young players such as Brownlee moving forward.
Sep 11, 2023
Inactive Monday
Brownlee (coach's decision) will be inactive for Monday's season opening game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Although Brownlee made enough of an impression during the offseason to go from undrafted free agent to making it through final roster cuts, he will be inactive for his first career game. He will attempt to continue making an impression at practice going forward and awaiting his next opportunity to suit up in Week 2.

Two catches in preseason finale
Brownlee caught two of four targets for 25 yards in Saturday's 32-24 preseason win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee was outplayed by fellow undrafted rookie Xavier Gipson, who caught seven of 10 targets for 79 yards in New York's preseason finale. That difference in production could prove significant, as Brownlee and Gipson may be competing over one roster spot at wide receiver. It's still possible that both youngsters make the team, as the Jets don't have any obvious keepers at the position behind Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard (shoulder), Mecole Hardman (finger) and Randall Cobb.
Aug 14, 2023
Two catches against Panthers
Brownlee caught two of three targets for 10 yards in Saturday's 27-0 preseason win over Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee tied for the team lead in targets as the Jets spread the ball around, but he was quiet for a second consecutive preseason outing, which hasn't helped the undrafted rookie's chances of securing a roster spot. Still, with nobody else stepping up and an opening to be seized if the Jets plan to carry six wide receivers on the 53-man roster, Brownlee's at least within striking distance of making the team. He could improve his odds of sticking around with a better performance in the next preseason game, Aug. 19 against the Buccaneers.
Aug 3, 2023
Pair of catches in preseason loss
Brownlee brought in two of five targets for 17 yards during the Jets' 21-16 preseason loss to the Browns in Thursday night's Hall of Fame Game.
ANALYSIS
The undrafted rookie, who's been turning heads since OTAs, put together a solid showing relative to his playing time and the quarterback play overall. Brownlee's catch total tied him with two other players for the team lead on the night, while his target tally encouragingly set the pace for the Jets as well. While his numbers don't exactly jump off the page, Brownlee's volume suggests he consistently gained some separation, giving him something to build on in a road preseason battle against the Panthers a week from Saturday.

Making push for roster spot
Brownlee has been a standout performer for the Jets in camp, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee went undrafted out of Southern Mississippi, but the Jets gave him $246,000 guaranteed to sign, which is similar money to a fifth-round pick and suggests Brownlee had a robust post-draft market. Since coming to New York, Brownlee got rave reviews for his performance in OTAs, and he has carried that momentum into training camp. If he can sustain this success in preseason, Brownlee will likely earn himself a spot on the Jets' 53-man roster.

Expects to join Jets
Brownlee is expected to sign with the Jets as an undrafted free agent, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee spent the last three seasons at Southern Mississippi, and he secured 55 of 117 targets for 891 yards and eight touchdowns last year. He wasn't selected in the 2023 Draft but will have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with the Jets.
