Jauan Jennings Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Panthers vs 49ers game on Monday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 16, 2025
Gains 54 yards in blowout
Jennings had four receptions on six targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 41-22 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Ricky Pearsall (knee) returned to the starting lineup following a five-game absence, but Jennings still led all San Francisco wide receivers in targets and production Sunday. RB Christian McCaffrey and TE George Kittle accounted for all of the scoring, leaving Jennings with a pedestrian fantasy score despite finishing in a three-way tie for the team lead in targets. Jennings will attempt to get back into the scoring column against the Panthers next Monday after hitting pay dirt in each of his previous two appearances.
Nov 9, 2025
Best line since Week 2
Jennings corralled six of nine targets for 71 yards and a touchdown while losing a fumble in Sunday's 42-26 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was stripped on a first-quarter reception for his first lost fumble of the season. Aside from the hiccup, the veteran starter went on to produce his best receiving line since an impressive showing back in Week 2 (5-89-1). Jennings has been heating up in recent weeks, scoring in consecutive appearances while recording at least four receptions in four straight. Ricky Pearsall (knee) keeps racking up missed games while Brandon Aiyuk (knee) still seems a ways away, so Jennings could continue operating as the 49ers' top receiver against the Cardinals next Sunday.
Nov 2, 2025
Scores TD in Week 9 win
Jennings caught four of five targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-24 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Jennings continues to gut it out while playing through multiple injuries, but he has reportedly started to feel healthier in recent weeks, which is supported by an uptick in production. He has notched four receptions in three consecutive games after reaching that threshold only once through Week 6. Jennings scored his second touchdown of the season on an 11-yard catch in the second quarter. It remains to be seen if he'll be catching passes from Mac Jones again in Week 10 against the Rams or if Brock Purdy (toe) will be back under center.
Oct 26, 2025
Under 50 receiving yards in loss
Jennings brought in four of seven targets for 45 yards in the 49ers' 26-15 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Jennings finished as the team leader in receiving yards and targets while tying for tips in receptions as well, but his line could have been much fuller had the veteran wideout not dropped a catchable ball from Mac Jones midway through the third quarter. Jennings has consecutive four-catch tallies, but he's mostly been unable to capitalize on the ongoing absences of Brandon Aiyuk (PUP, knee) and Ricky Pearsall (knee). Jennings, who's dealt with multiple injuries in his own right and missed two games this season, will take an 18-212-1 receiving line on 36 targets into a Week 9 road matchup against the Giants.
Oct 20, 2025
Gains 31 yards Sunday
Jennings (ankle/ribs/shoulder) had four receptions on seven targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 20-10 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was dealing with a myriad of minor injuries before being cleared of all designations leading up to Sunday's kick off. The 27-year-old operated as the 49ers' top wideout with Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Brandon Aiyuk (knee) still unavailable for Week 7. Jennings' 31 receiving yards and seven targets led all San Francisco receivers not named Christian McCaffrey, who carried the offense with 201 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. Look for Jennings' production to improve alongside his health as the season progresses with a road tilt against the Texans next Sunday.
Oct 17, 2025
Dodges injury designation
Jennings (ankle/rib/shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
He'll play for a second straight week, but Jennings is tough to trust in fantasy after getting just three targets last Sunday at Tampa Bay and then saying afterward that he's playing through five cracked ribs, among other injuries. He did take 77 percent of San Francisco's snaps on offense, and there's potential for a similar rate (or higher) Week 7, with Ricky Pearsall (knee) still out and Marquez Valdes-Scantling (calf) now on injured reserve.
Oct 16, 2025
Stays limited at practice
Jennings (ankle/rib/shoulder) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings noted after this past Sunday's loss at Tampa Bay that he played with five broken ribs and a sprained ankle, and while he mustered 77 percent (53 of 69) of the offensive snaps, the result was one catch (on three targets) for seven yards. All of Ricky Pearsall (knee, DNP), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (calf, DNP), Skyy Moore (ankle, LP) and Jordan Watkins (calf, LP) are listed on the 49ers' second Week 7 injury report, so it remains to be seen who among the five wide receivers will be available Sunday against the Falcons. Currently, Kendrick Bourne and Demarcus Robinson are the only healthy options at the position on the active roster.
Oct 15, 2025
Limited in practice
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings (ribs) will be limited in practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings played through five broken ribs during the 49ers' loss to Tampa Bay in Week 6, a contest in which he handled 77 percent of offensive snaps but secured just one of three targets for seven yards. While Jennings may again manage to play through his injuries at home against the Falcons on Sunday, he's combined for just three grabs for 31 yards (on seven targets) in his last two appearances. Meanwhile, Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Skyy Moore (undisclosed) are not practicing Wednesday.
Oct 12, 2025
Playing through broken ribs
Jennings said after Sunday's loss to the Bucs that he played with five broken ribs against Tampa Bay, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings missed Week 5 against the Rams with the injury but returned to the lineup Sunday against Tampa Bay. However, he was nonexistent in the box score, finishing with just one catch for seven yards as an afterthought in the passing game. Jennings didn't look anywhere near 100 percent health. Kendrick Bourne turned in another stellar performance, securing five of nine targets for 142 yards as Mac Jones' preferred go-to option. Jennings will be hard to trust in fantasy lineups next Sunday against Atlanta.
Oct 12, 2025
Back in action Sunday
Jennings (ankle/rib) is listed as active Sunday at Tampa Bay, Briana Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings sat out a Week 5 win at the Rams due to the rib injury that he picked up during a Week 4 loss to the Jaguars. He managed to log limited sessions Thursday and Friday before the 49ers tagged him as questionable for Week 6 action. With his status now confirmed for Sunday's game, Jennings will return to a San Francisco offense that's without notables like QB Brock Purdy (toe, inactive), TE George Kittle (hamstring, IR) and Ricky Pearsall (knee, inactive). As a result, Jennings should slot in as one of QB Mac Jones' (knee) top targets along with RB Christian McCaffrey, WRs Kendrick Bourne and Demarcus Robinson and TE Jake Tonges.
Oct 12, 2025
Slated to suit up Sunday
Jennings, who is questionable to play against Tampa Bay on Sunday due to an ankle injury, is expected to suit up, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings missed last Thursday's Week 5 overtime win over the Rams due to an ankle issue and began this week of practice as a DNP before upgrading to limited sessions Thursday and Friday. That level of participation appears to be enough to allow him to make his return to the field against the Buccaneers in Week 6. If Jennings does indeed suit up, he should work as the team's top pass-catching option with Ricky Pearsall (knee) already ruled out and George Kittle (hamstring) still on IR. Jennings would be working with QB Mac Jones (oblique/knee), who is expected to start at QB with Brock Purdy (toe) set to miss another contest. Schefter notes that Pearsall and Purdy could return in Week 7, so San Francisco's injury-ravaged air attack seems to be slowly getting healthier.
Oct 10, 2025
Potential game-time decision
Jennings (ankle) is listed as questionable and may be a game-time decision Sunday at Tampa Bay, ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner reports.
ANALYSIS
QB Mac Jones (oblique/knee) is listed as questionable but fully expected to start, whereas Jennings is truly questionable and may end up coming down to the wire ahead of a 4: 25 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday. He was a limited practice participant Thursday and Friday, after missing Week 5 with ankle and rib injuries.
Oct 10, 2025
Listed as questionable
Jennings (ankle/rib) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
After missing Week 5, Jennings returned to practice Thursday and Friday as a limited participant, giving him a chance to suit up in Week 6. Teammates Brock Purdy (toe) and Ricky Pearsall (knee) have been ruled out, while QB Mac Jones (oblique/knee) joins Jennings with a 'questionable' designation ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Kendrick Bourne, Demarcus Robinson and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are the likely beneficiaries of Jennings doesn't end up playing or is limited.
Oct 10, 2025
Practicing Friday
Jennings (ankle/rib) is practicing Friday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant and is now suited up again Friday. Fellow 49ers wideout Ricky Pearsall (knee) isn't practicing, nor is QB Brock Purdy (toe).
Oct 9, 2025
Limited in return to practice
Jennings (ankle/rib) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings has been dealing with a rib injury since taking a big hit in the second half of a Week 4 loss to the Jaguars, which held him out of the 49ers' Week 5 win at the Rams and didn't allow him to practice until this Thursday. According to Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News, GM John Lynch noted earlier Thursday that Jennings may return to action Sunday at Tampa Bay. Ultimately, Friday's practice report will reveal whether no not Jennings has a chance to play this weekend.
Oct 9, 2025
Back at practice
Jennings (ankle/rib) returned to practice Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This marks Jennings' first on-field work since Week 4 prep as he tends to lingering ankle and rib injuries. GM John Lynch said earlier Thursday that Jennings may be limited at the 49ers' upcoming session and also return for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, per Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News. The team's second Week 6 practice report will reveal Jennings' activity level Thursday, but he likely will need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid a designation entering the weekend.
Oct 8, 2025
Missing practice Wednesday
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings (ankle/ribs) won't participate in Wednesday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
The same can be said for QB Brock Purdy (toe) and WR Ricky Pearsall (knee), but unlike those two players, Shanahan didn't provide insight into Jennings' chances to return to action this weekend. Having said that, Jennings likely will need to mix into drills Thursday and/or Friday to put himself in a position to play Sunday at Tampa Bay. In three games this season, Jennings has put together a modest 9-129-1 line on 19 targets.
Oct 1, 2025
Ruled out for TNF
Jennings (ankle, ribs) is ruled out for Thursday's matchup against the Rams, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings is one of multiple key offensive starters ruled out for Thursday Night Football, joining Brock Purdy (toe) and Ricky Pearsall (knee). With George Kittle (hamstring) still on IR, that positions Mac Jones to command a heavily depleted offense Week 5, other than running back Christian McCaffrey. Jennings' next chance to take the field will come Sunday, Oct. 12 versus the Buccaneers in Week 6.
Sep 30, 2025
No activity at Tuesday's practice
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said that Jennings (ankle/ribs) won't participate in Tuesday's walk-through practice, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings previously sat out the 49ers' Week 3 win over the Cardinals due to an ankle issue, and that injury plus a new rib concern is clouding his availability for Thursday's game against the Rams. After being gauged as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report, Jennings will be a spectator Tuesday in the 49ers' lone on-field session prior to Thursday's game. The 49ers will decide Wednesday whether Jennings takes a designation into the Week 5 contest, or if he'll be ruled out in advance of the game. The San Francisco pass-catching corps could once again be shorthanded this week; Jennings and fellow wideouts Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Jordan Watkins (calf) are all sitting out Tuesday's practice, while tight end George Kittle (hamstring) and Brandon Aiyuk (knee) aren't on track to return until at least Week 6.
Sep 29, 2025
DNP on estimated injury report
Jennings (ankle/ribs) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings continues to deal with the ankle issue that kept him out Week 3 but also is tending to a rib injury stemming from a big hit he took in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. He finished out the contest en route to a 73 percent snap share and two catches (on four targets) for 24 yards. Coach Kyle Shanahan told Matt Barrows of The Athletic earlier Monday that the statuses of Jennings and fellow WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) are up in the air, so the situation bears watching to see how the 49ers' receiving corps shapes up for Thursday's game at the Rams.
Sep 29, 2025
Uncertain for Thursday night
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Jennings (undisclosed) is up-in-the-air for Thursday's matchup against the Rams, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings had sat out Week 3 due to ankle and shoulder injuries before retaking the field during Sunday's loss to the Jaguars, in which he secured two of four targets for 24 yards and at one point had to be evaluated on the sidelines after suffering a hit to the ribs. Monday's official practice report will reveal the injuries Jennings is currently dealing with, as well as his activity level, and his status will need to be closely monitored with a short week of preparation on deck before a road Thursday Night Football matchup. Brock Purdy (toe) and Ricky Pearsall (knee) are also being evaluated.
Sep 28, 2025
Grabs two receptions in return
Jennings (ankle/shoulder) brought in two of four targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 26-21 loss to Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Jennings returned from a one-game absence in order to reclaim his starting role against the Jaguars. The veteran wideout didn't post noteworthy numbers, but it is worth mentioning that he had to leave the game briefly to have his midsection looked at by the training staff following a big hit. Jennings was able to finish the contest, putting any concerns over missed time to rest for the time being. Assuming he can avoid the injury report on a short week of practice, Jennings will look to reestablish himself as one of Brock Purdy's top receiving threats against the Rams on Thursday.
Sep 28, 2025
Returning to action Sunday
Jennings (ankle/shoulder) is active for Sunday's game versus the Jaguars, Briana Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was gutting out a shoulder injury in the later stages of Week 1 and all of Week 2, but in the latter contest, he picked up an ankle injury that sidelined him Week 3 and didn't allow him to practice until Friday in a limited capacity. While he'll be available to the 49ers offense Sunday, there's an expectation that his snaps will be monitored, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. As a result, managers may want to pivot to a healthier option until Jennings is able to handle a typical workload, even with QB Brock Purdy (left shoulder/toe) back in action.
Sep 27, 2025
Slated to play Sunday
Jennings (ankle/shoulder) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game versus the Jaguars, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings finally got back on the practice field Friday for the first time since Week 2 prep, logging a limited session in the process and being listed as questionable for Sunday. While he and fellow WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) are in line to play this weekend, Jennings likely will have his snaps monitored as QB Brock Purdy (left shoulder/toe) sees his first game action since Week 1.
Sep 26, 2025
Questionable for Week 4
Jennings (shoulder/ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Jaguars, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was listed as a non-participant on five straight injury reports due to shoulder and ankle injuries before getting back on the field Friday, giving him a chance to return to action this weekend. His status will be confirmed, one way or another, about 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, but if he's able to suit up, he'll be on the receiving end of passes from No. 1 QB Brock Purdy (left shoulder/toe), who has been cleared for his first game action since Week 1.
Sep 26, 2025
Returns to practice
Jennings (ankle/shoulder) is in uniform for practice Friday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
He's set to practice for the first time since suffering an ankle injury Week 2. The 49ers listed Jennings as questionable last week, before downgrading him to 'out' on game day. He may have a real chance to play this week, facing the Jaguars.
Sep 25, 2025
Remains sidelined from practice
Jennings (ankle/shoulder) isn't practicing Thursday, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings hasn't been able to practice since coming out of a Week 2 win at New Orleans with an ankle injury. Coach Kyle Shanahan has referred to Jennings as day-to-day each of the last two weeks, but the wide receiver may not be a viable candidate for game action until he mixes into at least some drills. Friday's practice report will unveil whether or not Jennings has a chance to play Sunday against the Jaguars.
Sep 24, 2025
Not practicing Wednesday
Jennings (ankle/shoulder) is not participating in Wednesday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings remains day-to-day and that he was close to being cleared to play Week 3 against the Cardinals, per David Lombardi of SFStandard.com. That said, it seems likely that Jennings will need to practice in at least a limited fashion Thursday and/or Friday to have a realistic shot at returning to the field Sunday versus the Jaguars. Jennings picked up a shoulder injury during San Francisco's regular-season opener but managed to play through it Week 2, before then picking up an ankle injury in the second game.
Sep 22, 2025
Considered 'day-to-day'
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Jennings (shoulder/ankle) is considered "day-to-day," Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was able to play Week 2 with a shoulder injury that he suffered in the season opener, but he emerged from the second contest with an ankle issue that didn't allow him to practice last week. He was listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals but eventually was ruled out. Wednesday's session will mark Jennings' next chance to get his first on-field work since Week 1.
Sep 21, 2025
Downgraded to out for Week 3
The 49ers downgraded Jennings (ankle/shoulder) from questionable to out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Jennings will end up missing his first game of the season after his pair of injuries prevented him from practicing in any capacity this week. With Jennings sidelined, Ricky Pearsall will be locked in as the No. 1 target for quarterback Mac Jones, who will make a second straight start in place of the injured Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder). Jennings' absence should also open up more reps and targets for wideouts Kendrick Bourne and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
Sep 21, 2025
Not on track to play Sunday
Jennings (ankle/shoulder) is not in line to play Sunday against the Cardinals, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was officially listed as questionable after not practicing this week, but it looks his name is slated to be among the 49ers' inactives ahead of Sunday's 4:25 ET kickoff. In that scenario, Ricky Pearsall would be a candidate for a larger target share, with fellow wideouts Kendrick Bourne, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore also mixing in.
Sep 19, 2025
Deemed questionable for Week 3
Jennings (ankle/shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and wasn't spotted by reporters at Friday's session. It's not looking great right now, but the 49ers could treat Jennings as a game-day decision ahead of their 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday. If Jennings doesn't play, Ricky Pearsall will project for a larger target share, while veteran wideouts Kendrick Bourne, Russell Gage, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore take on Jennings' vacated snaps.
Sep 19, 2025
Not spotted at practice
Jennings (ankle/calf) doesn't appear to be practicing Friday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
He could technically still get some work in once practice is closed off to reporters, but things aren't looking good for Jennings in Week 3, considering he didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday. If another absence is confirmed, it would likely leave him either ruled out or treated as a long shot to face the Cardinals this weekend.
Sep 18, 2025
Another DNP on Thursday
Jennings (ankle/shoulder) didn't take part in Thursday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
For a second week in a row, Jennings has missed the first two practices, only this time he's dealing with the previous left shoulder injury and also an ankle issue. If he replicates his ending to last week, he'll be limited at Friday's session and questionable entering the weekend. While playing through the shoulder concern during a Week 2 win at New Orleans, he handled an 87 percent snap share and gathered in five of 10 targets from fill-in quarterback Mac Jones for 89 yards and one touchdown. If Jennings is able suit up Sunday against the Cardinals, he may be working with typical starting QB Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder), who has logged back-to-back limited practices this week.
Sep 17, 2025
No practice Wednesday
Jennings (ankle/shoulder) officially didn't practice Wednesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
During Week 2 prep, Jennings missed the first two practices before logging a limited session Friday as he tended to a shoulder injury, but it was enough for him to suit up this past Sunday at New Orleans and serve as the 49es' top wide receiver for fill-in quarterback Mac Jones. On his 10 targets, Jennings hauled in five of them for 89 yards and one touchdown. Coach Kyle Shanahan termed Jennings day-to-day on Monday due to an ankle injury, and with another DNP under his belt to begin this week, it remains to be seen if he'll follow a similar practice regimen to last week and how he'll be listed ahead of Sunday's home opener against the Cardinals.
Sep 17, 2025
Limited Wednesday
Jennings (shoulder/ankle) will be limited at practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings exited a season-opening win at Seattle due to a left shoulder injury that capped him to one limited session during Week 2 prep. He was able to suit up this past Sunday in New Orleans and take on an 87 percent snap share on his way to five catches (on 10 targets) for 89 yards and one touchdown while working with fill-in starting quarterback Mac Jones. Jennings will be joined as a limited participant Wednesday by No. 1 signal-caller Brock Purdy (toe/left shoulder), who has a chance to return to action this Sunday versus the Cardinals, as coach Kyle Shanahan told Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com on Wednesday. As a result, the potential exists for Jennings to have his most familiar quarterback under center Week 3, assuming the wide receiver is able to play through his shoulder and ankle issues.
Sep 15, 2025
Day-to-day with ankle issue
Coach Kyle Shanahan noted Monday that Jennings came out of Week 2 action with an ankle injury, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com, Jennings is viewed as day-to-day as this weekend's game against the Cardinals approaches. In Sunday's 26-21 win over the Saints, Jennings parlayed his 87 percent snap share into 5-89-1 receiving line on a team-high 10 targets.
Sep 14, 2025
Hauls in deep TD against Saints
Jennings caught five of 10 targets for 89 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-21 win over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout had a little trouble getting on the same page with new quarterback Mac Jones early in the contest, but the duo connected on a 42-yard TD in the fourth quarter that proved to be the game-winning score. Jennings' final line, and the performance of the 49ers' offense in general without Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder) under center, was very encouraging, and he'll look to keep rolling in a Week 3 clash with the Cardinals.
Sep 14, 2025
Suiting up in Week 2
Jennings (shoulder) is listed as active Sunday at New Orleans, Briana Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was forced out of last Sunday's win at Seattle in the fourth quarter due to a left shoulder injury, which capped him to one limited practice during Week 1 prep. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Saturday evening that Jennings was considered a game-time decision for Week 2 action, with a pregame workout to determine whether or not he'd be active. Now that his status has been confirmed for Sunday's contest, Jennings will be available to the 49ers offense, but it remains to be seen what kind of workload he'll be able to handle. He'll also be working with backup QB Mac Jones instead of regular starter Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder), so the outlooks for all San Francisco pass catchers seemingly take a step back in the short term.
Sep 14, 2025
Trending toward playing
Jennings (shoulder) remains listed as questionable but is expected to play Sunday in New Orleans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network previously reported Saturday that while Jennings was viewed as a game-timed decision for Week 2, the 49ers had optimism that he would be able to play. Jennings' prospects for suiting up Sunday having seemingly only improved overnight, though the 49ers will likely wait and see how he fares during a pregame workout before clearing him to play in advance of the 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Assuming Jennings ultimately gets the green light to play, he'll be working with a new starting quarterback in Mac Jones, who appears poised to direct the offense for multiple games with Brock Purdy (toe) facing a projected 2-to-5-week recovery timeline.
Sep 13, 2025
Optimism for Sunday
Jennings, who is questionable to play Sunday against New Orleans due to a shoulder injury, is considered a game-time decision, though there is "optimism he goes," Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was hurt in Week 1 against Seattle and sat out each of the 49ers' first two practices this week. However, he was able to return in a limited fashion Friday to get a designation of questionable heading into the weekend. While Rapoport indicates the 49ers are optimistic Jennings will be able to play, that decision probably won't be made until the wideout goes through his pregame workout.
Sep 12, 2025
Questionable for Week 2
Jennings (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at New Orleans, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings didn't finish the Week 1 win over Seattle or practice Wednesday and Thursday, but he returned Friday in a limited capacity, giving himself at least some chance to play ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. With QB Brock Purdy (toe) and TE George Kittle (hamstring) both ruled out, Jennings will project for a large target share if he plays, but without many of the surrounding conditions that have made San Francisco players so valuable for fantasy football in recent years. Standout left tackle Trent Williams (knee) also is listed as questionable.
Sep 12, 2025
Returns to practice
Jennings (shoulder) returned to practice Friday, Noah Furtado of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
He may have limitations but at least was participating during the media-access portion of practice. Jennings didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, following an early exit from the Week 1 win over Seattle due to a left shoulder injury. If he's able to play Week 2, he'll catch passes from backup quarterback Mac Jones this Sunday in New Orleans.
Sep 11, 2025
Officially no practice Thursday
Jennings (shoulder) officially didn't practice Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings hasn't been able to take part in drills this week following his early departure from this past Sunday's victory in Seattle due to a shoulder injury. However, he was spotted working on the side with a 49ers trainer Thursday, per Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News, indicating he at least is keeping somewhat active. In the end, Friday's practice report will reveal whether Jennings has a chance to suit up Sunday at New Orleans. If he's able to play this weekend, he'll be working with backup QB Mac Jones with Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder) set to miss multiple weeks.
Sep 11, 2025
Idle for another practice
Jennings (shoulder) was spotted working off to the side with a trainer during Thursday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings looks set to go down as a non-participant for the 49ers' second practice in a row, making his activity in Friday's session critical when it comes to determining his availability for Sunday's game against the Saints. If Jennings is able to play through the injury to his left shoulder this weekend, he'll be on the receiving end of targets from a new quarterback in Mac Jones, who is on track to start Sunday with Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder) likely to be out for the next 2-to-5 weeks.
Sep 10, 2025
DNP on Wednesday
Jennings (shoulder) won't take part in Wednesday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings left Sunday's win in Seattle early in the fourth quarter due to a left shoulder injury and wasn't able to return. After undergoing an MRI on Monday, he doesn't appear to have a serious health concern, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, but he'll focus on treatment versus on-field work during the 49ers' first practice of Week 2 prep. Jennings will have two more opportunities to mix into drills this week before the team potentially makes a ruling on his status ahead of Sunday's game at New Orleans. If he's able to suit up, the wide receiver likely will be working with backup QB Mac Jones, as starter Brock Purdy (toe/left shoulder) is trending towards an absence.
Sep 9, 2025
Injury considered minor concern
Jennings appears to have avoided a serious injury to his left shoulder after he underwent an MRI on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Though the 49ers have yet to provide an updated diagnosis of the injury that knocked Jennings out in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 17-13 win over the Seahawks, the 28-year-old wideout looks to have steered clear of a significant setback on the health front. Jennings had previously missed time in the spring and during training camp due to a calf issue and also expressed dissatisfaction with his contract situation, but both matters were resolved last week, as he was able to practice leading up to the season opener and agreed to an amended deal that added $3 million in play-time-based incentives to his contract. While Jennings' practice availability during the upcoming week could be affected by the new shoulder concern, the 49ers haven't yet ruled him out from playing in Sunday's game in New Orleans.

Getting shoulder checked out
The 49ers are awaiting the results of imaging done on Jennings' shoulder injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Kyle Shanahan noted Monday that Jennings' initial test looked okay, but there are still more results to come. The wideout's status thus is worth monitoring in the days ahead, but at this stage Shanahan believes that Jennings has a chance to play Sunday against the Saints, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. With Brandon Aiyuk (knee) still on the reserve/PUP list, Jennings now banged-up and Jordan Watkins dealing with an ankle injury, Ricky Pearsall currently is the 49ers' top healthy WR, a context that could lead to some combo of Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Russell Gage, Kendrick Bourne and Skyy Moore seeing added opportunities Week 2.

Will get MRI on shoulder
Jennings (shoulder) will have an MRI within the next 24 hours to determine the severity of his injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings got hurt in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 17-13 win over the Seahawks, after catching two of five targets for 16 yards. He had been battling an unrelated calf injury heading into the game. The banged-up wideout's status for Week 2 against the Saints should gain some clarity once the results of the MRI become available.

Suffers shoulder injury
Jennings exited Sunday's game in Seattle due to a left shoulder injury, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was favoring his left arm while coming off the field at the 13:35 mark of the fourth quarter. When he attempted to catch passes on the sideline, he was seen grimacing before the 49ers deemed him questionable to return. Jennings had two catches (on five targets) for 16 yards prior to his departure.

Week 1 appearance on tap
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that Jennings (calf) is "good to go" for Sunday's contest at Seattle, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. "He's had a real good week," Shanahan added. "[He's] gotten better and better throughout the week, and I'm excited to see him out there Sunday."
ANALYSIS
Jennings logged limited practices Wednesday and Thursday due to the calf injury that's impacted him at times since the offseason program, but he also gained some clarity with his contract when he and the 49ers agreed to $3 million in play-time incentives for the 2025 season. He'll open the campaign with Ricky Pearsall as the top wide receivers for QB Brock Purdy in the absence of Brandon Aiyuk, who is on the reserve/PUP list as he completes his recovery from the ACL and MCL tears that he suffered Week 7 of last year. Jennings put together a career-best 77-975-6 line on 113 targets in 15 regular-season games in 2024.
Sep 4, 2025
Another limited showing
Jennings (calf) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings has sandwiched capped sessions around getting $3 million in play-time incentives added to his current contract Wednesday evening. With one of his recent issues resolved, his calf injury continues to hinder his on-field work ahead of Week 1, though he did tell Wagoner on Thursday that it's "been feeling a lot better" and that he's "ready to go" for Sunday's game in Seattle. Ultimately, Friday's practice report will reveal whether or not Jennings enters the weekend with a designation for the season opener.
Sep 3, 2025
Inks incentive-based contract
The 49ers and Jennings (calf) agreed Wednesday to add $3 million in play-time incentives to his contract for the 2025 season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings spent much of the summer nursing a calf injury while also making it known that he wanted a new contract. It's not exactly a new deal for Jennings, but the $3 million increases the wide receiver's earning potential for 2025 up to $10.5 million. Jennings is scheduled to be a free agent next March. As far as his Week 1 availability against the Seahawks, Jennings was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, putting him on track to play Sunday.
Sep 3, 2025
To be limited Wednesday
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings (calf) will be a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings kicked off training camp seeking a new contract before sustaining a calf injury that sidelined him for the entire preseason slate. Per Wagoner, GM John Lynch said last Wednesday that he had no intentions of trading the wide receiver, and now Jennings will log two practices in three days to begin this week, albeit with a cap on his reps. Jennings presumably is ramping up with an aim to play Sunday in Seattle, as Shanahan also told David Lombardi of SFStandard.com that he expects him to suit up this weekend.
Sep 1, 2025
Retakes practice field
Jennings (calf) is participating in practice Monday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings, who continues to seek a new contract with the 49ers after having requested a trade, is back on the practice field for the first time since late July. General manager John Lynch said late August that the team doesn't intend to trade Jennings, but he spoke of the wide receiver's availability for Week 1 in uncertain terms. Even if Jennings is only practicing on a limited basis, his return to the field is a significant step in the right direction. Wednesday's first official practice report of the week will shed more light on Jennings' chances of suiting up Sunday versus the Seahawks.
Aug 27, 2025
Uncertain for Week 1
The 49ers are unsure if Jennings (calf/contract) will play Week 1 at Seattle, but GM John Lynch said Wednesday that he won't trade the wide receiver, ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner reports.
ANALYSIS
Lynch confirmed that Jennings requested a trade at one point due to frustration with contract negotiations, saying it was "a while ago" and the team has moved on. Jennings showed up for the start of training camp but then left the fourth practice early with a calf injury -- an issue that Lynch says is legitimate and not just an excuse to miss practice during contract negotiations. Jennings hasn't practiced for a month, joining a long list of San Francisco wideouts that are in doubt for Week 1 due to suspensions or injuries. Frustration with the lack of an extension in his contract year adds another risk factor, but there's also a clear opportunity for Jennings to pile up snaps and targets in the absence of Brandon Aiyuk (knee) this September.
Aug 24, 2025
May be available Week 1
Coach Kyle Shanahan relayed after Saturday's preseason contest against the Chargers that Jennings (calf) has a chance to be available for a Week 1 road matchup with the Seahawks, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. "I expect him to be back, he should be back from it," Shanahan said. "But you never know with a calf."
ANALYSIS
The 49ers don't play again until Sunday, Sept. 7, so Jennings has two weeks to recover from the calf injury that has plagued him since the early days of training camp and sidelined him entirely since Aug. 4. He thus didn't see any exhibition action, but whenever he's healthy he's expected to pace a wide receiver group that won't have top option Brandon Aiyuk (knee) available until roughly Week 6. With both Aiyuk and Jennings sidelined, though, Ricky Pearsall is left as the primary option at the position for QB Brock Purdy and San Francisco's offense.
Aug 4, 2025
Sidelined by calf again
Jennings (calf) isn't practicing Monday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was bothered by a calf injury during the offseason program and then aggravated it in the first week of training camp. He's been absent from practices for more than a week now, freeing up more first-team reps for Ricky Pearsall, Demarcus Robinson and Jordan Watkins. Fellow 49ers wideouts Brandon Aiyuk (ACL) and Jacob Cowing (hamstring) also haven't been practicing.
Jul 31, 2025
Calf injury a reaggravation
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Thursday that Jennings (calf) is dealing with a reaggravation of the injury he dealt with during spring activities, Clayton Holloway of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Shanahan declined to offer an update on when Jennings, who left Sunday's practice early, will return. The calf issue Jennings previously dealt with during the offseason was downplayed as minor, and he had successfully passed his physical to start training camp, but it remains to be seen whether this reaggravation represents a worsening of the injury. Jennings had also expressed a desire for a new contract with San Francisco entering training camp, though by all appearances he had been taking part in practices without any sort of hold-in scenario. Meanwhile, Brandon Aiyuk (ACL) remains on the active/PUP list without a clear timetable to return, while Ricky Pearsall came off the active/PUP list Sunday but is sitting out Thursday's session for maintenance reasons, per Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Jul 27, 2025
Leaves practice with inury
Jennings left practice Sunday due to a calf injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings dealt with a minor calf injury during the offseason program, but he's been practicing since passing his physical to start training camp. It's unclear if the wideout is now dealing with a new injury or if he aggravated this previous calf issue. Jennings has also been practicing despite reports that he wants a new contract, and he doesn't appear to be in a "hold-in" scenario. It will be worth keeping an eye on his health as the 49ers approach their first preseason game versus the Broncos on Aug. 9. San Francisco has been dealing with injuries around their wide-receiver room the start training camp, as Brandon Aiyuk (knee) is still on PUP while recovering from a torn ACL, while second-year wideout Ricky Pearsall was activated Sunday after starting on the PUP list with a hamstring injury.
Jul 23, 2025
Practicing Wednesday
Jennings participated in individual drills at the start of Wednesday's practice, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Unlike position mate Brandon Aiyuk a season ago, Jennings isn't "holding in" (i.e. present but not practicing), despite recent reports that he was seeking a new contract. With Aiyuk out for the foreseeable future due to his recovery from a torn ACL and Deebo Samuel getting traded to the Commanders this offseason, Jennings is set to open the upcoming season as the 49ers' top option at wide receiver, but he currently is playing out the second season of the two-year, $15.4 million contract that he signed in May 2024. Jennings is coming off a 77-975-6 campaign on 113 targets across 15 regular-season contests, so an amended deal could be in his future.
Jul 22, 2025
Reports to camp, passes physical
Jennings (calf) reported to 49ers training camp and passed a physical Monday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings missed some time during the offseason program due to a calf injury, but he's received a clean bill of health as the team kicks off camp. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported last week that Jennings was dissatisfied with his current contract and wanted a new one or a trade, but GM John Lynch said Monday that he "anticipates" the wide receiver will "be out there" at practice Wednesday, according to David Lombardi of SFStandard.com. With Brandon Aiyuk continuing to rehab a right knee injury that he suffered last October and having no timeline for his return, Jennings is set to begin this season as the 49ers' No. 1 wideout after putting together a 77-975-6 line on 113 targets over 15 regular-season games in 2024.
Jul 14, 2025
Wants new contract or trade
Jennings (calf) is unhappy with his contract and wants a new deal or a trade, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
A restricted free agent last offseason, Jennings ended up signing a two-year, $15.4 million contract to replace his RFA tender. He then broke out for 975 receiving yards in 15 games, with career highs for catch rate (68.1 percent) and yards per target (8.6). Jennings, 28, now looks like one of the top bargains among wide receivers that aren't on rookie contracts, scheduled to make $7.5 million in the second and final season of his deal. He missed some of San Francisco's spring practices with a calf injury, but there's been no indication it's a serious issue ahead of training camp, leaving his contract situation as the real concern. While true holdouts are rare, Jennings may consider a so-called hold in, whereby he'd show up to the facility for meetings and off-field work but wouldn't actually practice until he got a raise or extension.
Jun 12, 2025
Bothered by calf
Jennings dealt with a minor calf injury during the offseason program, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It doesn't sound like something that will impact Jennings' availability for training camp, but this did leave the 49ers without their projected top three WRs during spring practices, with Brandon Aiyuk still rehabbing an ACL tear and Ricky Pearsall nursing a hamstring injury. In their absence, free-agent addition Demarcus Robinson and 2024 fourth-round pick Jacob Cowing reportedly stepped up and took more reps on the first-team offense.
Jan 6, 2025
Leads team with 10 targets
Jennings finished with seven receptions on 10 targets for 52 yards in Sunday's 47-24 loss to Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Jennings took over as the 49ers' No. 1 option with Deebo Samuel (ribs/wrist) sitting out Sunday's regular-season finale. The 26-year-old had a career year in 2024, setting new highs in receptions (77), yards (975) and touchdowns (six) while primarily filling in for Brandon Aiyuk (knee) mid-season. Jennings fell just short of reaching the 1,000-yard plateau after getting ejected late in Sunday's season finale. The upstart receiver will now enter the second year of a two-year contract reconstruction, with the possibility of continuing his elevated role for the 49ers in 2025.
Dec 31, 2024
Solid PPR performance
Jennings finished with seven receptions on 10 targets for 67 yards in Monday's 40-34 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Jennings turned in another routine performance that would have pleased those playing in PPR and deeper fantasy formats. The veteran starter's stats seem dwarfed in a game that featured two 100-yard receivers for San Francisco. Jennings inched closer to his first 1,000-yard campaign Monday, needing just 77 receiving yards against the Cardinals in Week 18 in order to accomplish the feat.
Dec 22, 2024
Modest production Sunday
Jennings caught four of six targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 29-17 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Jennings took back seat to San Francisco's remaining star players (Deebo Samuel and George Kittle) to finish with a modest stat line in Sunday's loss. The 27-year-old Jennings upped his season totals to 63-856-6 through 13 games this year. Jennings' expanded role in 2024 has kept his floor high for fantasy managers, and the same could be said for next Monday's tilt against the Lions.
Dec 13, 2024
Highly inefficient in loss
Jennings secured two of nine targets for 31 yards in the 49ers' 12-6 loss to the Rams on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Just four days after bringing in seven of eight targets against the Bears -- a pair of touchdown grabs among them -- Jennings saw a team-high target total in Thursday's rainy conditions but was highly inefficient. The veteran wideout entered Thursday with a solid 73.1 percent catch rate on the season, and his struggles led to his lowest yardage total since Week 6. Jennings will aim to bounce back against a talented Dolphins secondary in a Week 16 road interconference battle on Sunday, Dec. 22.
Dec 8, 2024
Breakout continues two TDs
Jennings finished with seven receptions (eight targets) for 90 yards and a pair of scores in Sunday's 38-13 rout over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
George Kittle led the 49ers in receiving yards (151) Sunday while Jennings took top honors in catches, targets and receiving touchdowns. The 27-year-old wideout continues to excel in a starting role for a San Francisco team that has lost several key players over the course of the season. Jennings is officially having a breakout season with a career-best line of 57-774-6 through 11 contests. He will attempt to build on those numbers in a potential high-scoring affair against the Rams on Thursday Night Football in Week 15.
Dec 1, 2024
Leading receiver on three catches
Jennings brought in three of five targets for 56 yards in Sunday's 35-10 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Jennings wound up finishing as the 49ers' top receiving option on a night when the team totaled just 94 yards through the air. Harsh weather conditions limited what could have been a better game from the veteran receiver, who remains one of the few bright spots on a dwindling 49ers' active roster. Jennings warrants consideration in all formats given his role and an upcoming soft home matchup against Chicago.
Nov 24, 2024
Gains 40 yards with backup QB
Jennings caught five of seven targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers were without starting quarterback Brock Purdy (shoulder) on Sunday, limiting the potential of all skill position players not named George Kittle in a blowout loss to Green Bay. Jennings actually led all wideouts with his modest production, but it still left much to be desired based on his increased production in 2024. The four-year veteran will carry a 47-628-4 receiving line into next Sunday's road tilt against the Bills.
Nov 17, 2024
Posts WR1 numbers Sunday
Jennings corralled 10 of 11 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 loss to Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Jennings continues to thrive as a starter since being elevated to second on the depth chart coming out of the 49ers' Week 9 bye. The physical wideout is averaging 8.5 receptions, 92.0 yards and 11.0 targets in two games sans Brandon Aiyuk (knee). With defenses keying in on Deebo Samuel since his running mate was lost for the year, Jennings has elevated his play to mimic that of the superstar he is filling in for. The window to snag Jennings has likely closed in competitive formats, but managers should continue to ride the hot hand as the 49ers hit the road to face the Packers next Sunday.
Nov 15, 2024
Cleared to play
Jennings (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Seattle, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
A mid-week addition to the injury report, Jennings was at least a limited participant in each practice and apparently will be fine for Sunday's game. He led the 49ers in targets (11) and receiving yards (93) during last week's 23-20 win over Tampa Bay, handling 90 percent snap share and 92 percent route share after missing the previous two games with a hip injury.
Nov 15, 2024
Present at practice
Jennings (ankle) is present for Friday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was added to the injury report Thursday as a limited participant. It's unclear how much he'll do Friday, but his presence at least suggests he still has a chance to play Sunday against the Seahawks.
Nov 14, 2024
Tending to ankle injury
Jennings was limited at Thursday's practice due to an ankle injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Midweek additions to injury reports occasionally mean that health concerns were sustained in practice. It's unclear if this is the case for Jennings, but his status nonetheless will be watched closely to get a sense of his chances to suit up Sunday.
Nov 10, 2024
Leading receiver Sunday
Jennings (hip) finished with seven receptions (11 targets) for 93 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Jennings returned from a two-game absence (three weeks including the bye) and wound up leading the 49ers in receiving yards. The veteran slot man was also elevated to No. 2 on the depth chart following Brandon Aiyuk's (knee) season-ending injury, which occurred in the same contest Jennings suffered his hip injury. With good health and a larger role on offense, Jennings is looking like a hot pickup in fantasy for the second time this campaign. The 26-year-old can be considered a strong flex option heading into next Sunday's tilt against Seattle.
Nov 8, 2024
Cleared to return this week
Jennings (hip) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings will return from a two-game absence after upgrading to full practice participation at the end of the week. Meanwhile, Deebo Samuel (oblique/rib) is listed as questionable and Chris Conley (hamstring) ruled out, potentially giving Jennings a bigger role in the gameplan, although Samuel seems to be on track to play.
Nov 7, 2024
Remains limited in practice
Jennings (hip) practiced on a limited basis Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Jennings is attempting to put the hip injury that sidelined him Weeks 7 and 8 in the rearview mirror, but he so far has managed a pair of capped sessions coming out of the 49ers' Week 9 bye. Friday's practice thus should be key for how he's listed heading into the weekend, and if he's able to return for Sunday's contest in Tampa Bay, he'll fill a key role in San Francisco's pass game with Brandon Aiyuk (knee) out for the season.
Nov 6, 2024
Limited Wednesday
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings (hip) will be a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings has been sidelined since Week 6 due to a hip injury, missing two contests as a result. With the benefit of a Week 9 bye, he's now ramping up his activity level in advance of Sunday's game in Tampa Bay. If he's able to return to action this weekend, Jennings likely will serve as one of the 49ers' starting wide receivers alongside Deebo Samuel (oblique/ribs) due to Brandon Aiyuk being out for the season due to ACL and MCL tears.
Oct 28, 2024
Expected back after bye
Speaking Monday, coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings (hip) is expected to return following San Francisco's Week 9 bye, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings missed Weeks 7 and 8 with the hip issue, and the team could really use him with Brandon Aiyuk (knee, IR) done for the season, Chris Conley (hamstring) week-to-week and Deebo Samuel coming off pneumonia and now dealing with oblique and rib strains. Once back, Jennings is expected to take on a full-time role for the remainder of the season and should be considered a fantasy starter in that time.
Oct 25, 2024
Missing second straight game
Jennings (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings will be sidelined for a second game in a row after he continued to miss practice time this week while tending to a hip injury. With a bye on tap Week 9 to provide him with additional healing time, Jennings should have a good chance at being ready to go when the 49ers return to action Nov. 10 at Tampa Bay, provided he doesn't experience any setbacks with the hip when he eventually returns to practice. Once healthy, Jennings should be in store for a regular starting role for the rest of the campaign after the 49ers placed Brandon Aiyuk (knee) on injured reserve this week with season-ending ACL and MCL tears.
Oct 24, 2024
Still not practicing
Jennings (hip) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings has yet to log any on-field work since he showed up on the 49ers' injury report last Wednesday with a hip issue. Meanwhile, the top of the 49ers' receiving corps is compromised, with Brandon Aiyuk (knee) out for the season and Deebo Samuel (wrist) in recovery mode from pneumonia. Samuel was able to log a limited practice Thursday, so he seemingly has a better chance than Jennings to be available Sunday against the Cowboys.
Oct 23, 2024
Not practicing Wednesday
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings (hip) won't practice Wednesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The state of the 49ers' receiving corps is such that Jennings will be welcomed back with open arms once he gets past the hip injury that sidelined him Week 7. After this past Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, Shanahan told Matt Barrows of The Athletic that he hoped Jennings would be back this week, but his lack of activity Wednesday isn't a great sign. Fortunately for Jennings, he'll have sessions Thursday and Friday to put himself on a path to suiting up Sunday against the Cowboys. If he's available, he could serve as San Francisco's top WR considering Brandon Aiyuk (knee) is out of the season and Deebo Samuel is recovering from a bout with pneumonia.
Oct 20, 2024
Chance to play Week 8
Coach Kyle Shanahan said after Sunday's 28-18 loss to the Chiefs that the 49ers hope to get Jennings (hip) back for Week 8 against the Cowboys, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings didn't practice in any capacity prior to sitting out Sunday's loss, but the team's optimism regarding his Week 8 status suggests Jennings isn't looking at an extended absence. That may not be the case for fellow 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (knee), who is feared to have suffered a season-ending ACL tear against Kansas City. Jennings has proven capable of stepping up when the 49ers are shorthanded at wide receiver, as he had 175 receiving yards and three touchdowns in Week 3.
Oct 18, 2024
Ruled out for Week 7
Jennings (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings didn't practice at all this week, leaving the 49ers with Chris Conley, Ronnie Bell and rookies Jacob Cowing and Ricky Pearsall (chest) as the WR choices behind Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel (wrist). While Pearsall's status as a first-round pick makes him the one with the most long-term fantasy interest, he may not have much of a role after spending the first six weeks of the season on the reserve/non-football injury list due to injuries sustained in a shooting. Conley is the favorite to get the most snaps, although it's far from a sure thing. Jennings' next chance to play is a Week 8 game against the Cowboys on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Oct 18, 2024
Misses another practice
Jennings (hip) isn't practicing Friday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rookie first-round pick Ricky Pearsall (chest) has a shot to make his NFL regular-season debut, but the 49ers will probably favor veteran Chris Conley in the No. 3 receiver role if Jennings doesn't play this Sunday against the Chiefs. A third straight missed practice has Jennings trending toward his first absence of the season.
Oct 17, 2024
No practice Thursday
Jennings (hip) isn't taking part in Thursday's practice, David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow WR Deebo Samuel (wrist) was on the field Thursday but donning a blue non-contact jersey, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com, indicating he'll go down as a limited participant for a second straight session. Jennings may be in danger of sitting out Sunday against the Chiefs, with Friday's injury report potentially providing some clarity on the situation ahead of the weekend.
Oct 16, 2024
Missing practice with hip injury
Jennings has a hip injury and won't practice Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a new concern for San Francisco's No. 3 receiver, coming off a 3-27-0 receiving line (five target) in the 36-24 win over Seattle last Thursday. Jennings has just seven catches for 128 yards in three games since his 11-175-3 explosion Week 3 against the Rams, operating as the fourth option in San Francisco's passing game ever since Deebo Samuel and George Kittle returned from their respective injuries.
Oct 12, 2024
Gains 27 yards on TNF
Jennings had three receptions (five targets) for 27 yards in Thursday's 36-24 win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Jennings saw the field for nearly half (49 percent) of San Francisco's offensive plays Thursday, a number which has mirrored his snap count this season aside from his standout performance against the Rams back in Week 3. Since that three-score game, the veteran slot man has produced just seven catches for 128 yards with no trips to the end zone over his last three contests. Jennings remains an option for those in deeper formats when the 49ers host the Chiefs on Sunday, Oct. 20.
Oct 7, 2024
Quiet game Sunday
Jennings had one reception on three targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 24-23 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Jennings saw his usual allotment of snaps on offense (57 percent) but simply was not evolved enough to produce positive fantasy results. The veteran slot man goes through quiet spells from time to time, so his value shouldn't have changed much assuming managers weren't shooting for the moon. Jennings and the 49ers will travel to Seattle for Thursday Night Football in Week 6.
Sep 29, 2024
Leads team in receiving Sunday
Jennings turned three receptions (six targets) into 88 yards in Sunday's 30-13 victory over New England.
ANALYSIS
Jennings failed to reproduce last week's three-score performance for eager fantasy managers, but the veteran receiver still led the 49ers in targets (six) and receiving yards (88) with fellow starters Deebo Samuel (calf) and Brandon Aiyuk both active. San Francisco's slot man remains a hot play in fantasy while his role on offense remains enlarged sans Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles). The case can be made for Jennings to start in nearly any format given his recent production and a favorable home matchup against Arizona on tap for Week 5.
Sep 22, 2024
Goes for three TDs
Jennings hauled in 11 of his 12 targets for 175 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Jennings filled in for a couple of injured 49ers' receiving options Sunday, benefitting greatly from the promotion to deliver three scores and big-time receiving numbers for fantasy managers. San Francisco suffered the loss sans multiple superstars Sunday, but Jennings proved that he may can elevate his game past an auxiliary option if need be. The veteran slot man will undoubtedly be a hot waiver pickup ahead of Week 4's action, just make sure that he is in the starting lineup prior to Sunday's tilt against the Patriots.
Sep 16, 2024
Nabs two receptions Sunday
Jennings (ankle) had two receptions on four targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 23-17 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Jennings carried a questionable tag through the practice week after picking up an ankle injury in Week 1 against the Jets. The veteran slot receiver was cleared from the injury report prior to kickoff, producing a stereotypical receiving line for those in deep leagues. A healthy Jennings should make for a high-floor, low-ceiling fantasy option against the Rams on Sunday.
Sep 13, 2024
Cleared for Week 2
Jennings (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Minnesota, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was listed with an ankle injury ahead of Week 1 and even made a brief exit from Monday's win over the Jets, but it didn't stop him from catching each of his five targets for a team-high 64 receiving yards. He played 47 percent of San Francisco's snaps on offense and ran a route on 56 percent of the pass plays, filling his usual role as the No. 3 receiver behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. It is possible Jennings benefits from a few extra snaps here and there if Samuel continues to get some work as a running back while Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is out.
Sep 12, 2024
Limited again Thursday
Jennings (ankle) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.

With back-to-back capped sessions under his belt following the ankle injury that he sustained in the season opener against the Jets, Jennings has only one more chance to get back to full before potentially heading into the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest at Minnesota. Assuming he's active Week 2, he'll continue to serve as the 49ers' No. 3 WR behind starters Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
Sep 11, 2024
Limited Wednesday
Jennings (ankle) will be limited at Wednesday's practice, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings made a brief exit during Monday's win against the Jets, but he ultimately played 35 of 72 offensive snaps en route to five catches (on five targets) for 64 yards. The elevated target count may have been due to fellow WR Deebo Samuel getting more work in the backfield with Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) sidelined. In any case, Jennings will join McCaffrey with a cap on his reps to kick off Week 2 prep, meaning the situation bears watching to see if the former will remain more involved Sunday in Minnesota, assuming he's active and the latter isn't.
Sep 10, 2024
Day-to-day with ankle injury
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan labeled Jennings (ankle) as day-to-day after Monday's 32-19 win over the Jets, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings played 35 of the 49ers' 72 offensive snaps in the victory, recording five receptions for 64 yards on five targets. Per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com, Jennings was slow to get up after making a third-down reception early in the third quarter, and he was in the blue medical tent for the 49ers' ensuing possession before later checking back into the contest. Though Jennings was able to finish out the game, the receiver still looks to be less than 100 percent, so his practice activity could be limited leading up to Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Sep 9, 2024
Quickly returns to MNF
Jennings (ankle) returned to Monday night's Week 1 contest against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was injured early in the third quarter and was examined in the medical tent before being deemed officially questionable to return. The veteran wideout missed just a few plays before being cleared to return.
Sep 9, 2024
Injures ankle Monday night
Jennings suffered an ankle injury in Monday night's Week 1 game against the Jets and is questionable to return, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was injured while being tackled on the 49ers' first drive of the third quarter, and the defender landed on the back of the wideout's leg. Prior to leaving and heading the blue medical tent, Jennings caught all three of his targets for a team-best 41 yards at the time of his exit.
Sep 7, 2024
Returns to full practice
Jennings (ankle) practiced in full Saturday and doesn't have an injury designation for Monday night's season-opening matchup with the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was limited in San Francisco's first two practices of the week due to an ankle issue but appears to be good to go for the team's regular-season opener Monday after practicing in full Saturday. The 27-year-old is slated to fill the 49ers' No. 3 wideout role behind star pass catchers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, though Jennings could see a bit more attention Monday with Aiyuk not expected to handle a full workload after sitting out most of training camp while pushing for a contract extension.
Sep 6, 2024
Limited in practice again
Jennings (ankle) remained limited in practice Friday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings dealt with ankle and then oblique injuries during the preseason, but there'd been no report of recent trouble until the Niners listed him Thursday on their first official injury report of the season. He's now been limited in back-to-back practices, setting up Saturday as the final chance for full participation before the Niners host the Jets on Monday.
Sep 5, 2024
Tending to ankle issue
Jennings was limited in practice Thursday due to an ankle injury, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings dealt with an ankle concern in early August before missing the 49ers' final two preseason games due to an oblique issue. With an ankle injury listed on the team's first practice report of the campaign, he may still be dealing with the former, but he at least has a pair of chances to log a full session before San Francisco may make a call on his status ahead of Monday's contest against the Jets. If he's available Week 1, Jennings will serve as the No. 3 WR behind starters Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk due to Ricky Pearsall (chest/shoulder) being on the reserve/non-football injury list.
Sep 5, 2024
Limited in practice Thursday
Jennings (oblique) is practicing in a limited capacity Thursday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings continues to manage an oblique injury he's dealt with since mid-August. With Ricky Pearsall (chest/shoulder) to miss at least the first four games of the year while on the reserve/non-football injury list, Jennings has an opportunity to work as the clear No. 3 receiver behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, health permitting. He'll have two more chances to increase his participation level prior to Monday's regular-season opener at home against the Jets.
Aug 18, 2024
Battling oblique injury
Jennings didn't play in Sunday's 16-10 preseason win over the saints due to an oblique injury, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Maiocco adds that Jennings isn't expected to miss much time due to the injury. While Jenning's status for the 49ers' preseason finale against the Raiders on Friday is uncertain, he doesn't seem to be in jeopardy of missing the Sept. 9 regular-season opener against the Jets.
Aug 3, 2024
Back at practice Saturday
Jennings (ankle) is in uniform and participating in practice Saturday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was limited to side work during Friday's practice, but his ankle injury appears to have been minor, and he's back working with the team Saturday. The wideout is slated to function as San Francisco's No. 3 receiver during the 2024 season, though he could be pushed for that role by rookie Ricky Pearsall.
Aug 2, 2024
Battling ankle injury
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that Jennings has an ankle injury but is expected back soon, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings worked off to the side at Friday's practice. It doesn't sound like a serious issue for the veteran wideout. Jennings has been a fixture in three-wide sets for the 49ers over the last few seasons, but he hasn't been a big target-earner as the fifth option in the offense. Jennings' biggest competition for playing time in 2024 will be first-round rookie Ricky Pearsall.
May 29, 2024
Inks two-year deal
Jennings and the 49ers have come to terms on a two-year deal worth up to $15.4 million, including $10.5 million guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Niners gave Jennings a second-round restricted free agent tender in March. Given that it was unlikely any team would give up a pick that early for the right to pay Jennings a considerable contract, a trade was the only other option. Both parties were able to avoid that situation with this new deal, which is akin to a one-year extension. This means the pass catcher will be back to fill in the No. 3 wide receiver option behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
Mar 11, 2024
Gets second-round tender
The Niners gave Jennings a second-round restricted free agent tender Monday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
This gives the Niners the right to match any offer Jennings receives from another team, with a second-round pick coming back in return if they decline. No team is going to give up a pick that early for the right to hand Jennings a considerable contract, meaning a trade is now the only way he'd end up on a new team for 2024. While he hasn't seen many targets as the No. 3 receiver in a loaded offense, Jennings had Super Bowl MVP hype at one point in the big game when it looked like the Niners might win and he had a passing TD and a receiving score. Fantasy relevance in 2024 seems unlikely if fellow wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel both are on the team and healthy.
Jan 31, 2024
One reception in NFC Championship
Jennings (head) caught one of two targets for eight yards in Sunday's 34-31 NFC Championship Game win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Jennings had to leave the contest briefly to be examined for a concussion, but he was eventually cleared to return and finished with 22 snaps on offense. The physical wideout even got into an altercation with a Detroit defensive back at one point, but he appears to have escaped the game no worse for wear. Jennings left most of the playmaking to his superstar teammates Sunday, resulting in a forgettable fantasy day when compared to the 5-61-0 fantasy line he netted in the divisional-round win over the Packers while helping to replace the injured Deebo Samuel. With the 49ers' core at full strength heading into Super Bowl Sunday, Jennings should find himself with another light target count in the final game of the 2023 season.
Jan 28, 2024
Cleared to return
Jennings (head) was cleared to return to Sunday's game against the Lions, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings exited the contest to be evaluated for a head injury but was cleared shortly thereafter. He'll return to his role as the 49ers' primary slot receiver.
Jan 28, 2024
Questionable to return
Jennings is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Lions due to a head injury, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings exited the game in the second quarter and is being evaluated for a concussion. Ray-Ray McCloud will be asked to step up if he is unable to return. Jennings was not targeted prior to his exit.
Jan 21, 2024
Elevated role after Samuel exit
Jennings brought in five of six targets for 61 yards in the 49ers' 24-21 divisional-round win over the Packers on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Jennings, who'd missed the last three regular-season games due to a concussion, ended up as the surprise leader in receptions on the night for the 49ers. Naturally, Deebo Samuel's exit from the game in the first half due to a shoulder injury played a significant role in Jennings' unexpected production, but the fourth-year pro could certainly continue to see expanded opportunity in an NFC Championship Game matchup against either the Buccaneers or Lions on Sunday, Jan. 28 if Samuel remains sidelined.
Jan 9, 2024
Healthy heading into playoffs
Jennings has been cleared from concussion protocol, Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was unavailable for the 49ers' last three regular season games while nursing a concussion, but he now appears to be ready to go for the postseason. The wide receiver will have an opportunity to get back into the swing of things during the team's wild-card round bye week before they host their upcoming opponent in the divisional round next weekend.
Jan 6, 2024
Won't return in Week 18
The 49ers downgraded Jennings (concussion) to out for Sunday's game against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Jennings showed some progress in his quest through the concussion protocol this week, logging three consecutive limited sessions before the 49ers gave him a questionable tag for Week 18. Saturday's development indicates that he wasn't able to gain clearance from an independent neurologist and thus will miss his third game in a row. With Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk candidates to see limited work Sunday, the likes of Ray-Ray McCloud (ribs, questionable), Chris Conley and Ronnie Bell may end up on the receiving end of many of Sam Darnold's passes.
Jan 5, 2024
Draws questionable tag
Jennings (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the 49ers' last two games while recovering from a concussion, Jennings was able to take the field for practices this week, albeit as a limited participant. According to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com, Jennings still has one more stage of the five-step concussion protocol to clear, but if he's able to get the green light from an independent neurologist Saturday, he could be able to make his return to the lineup a day later in the 49ers' regular-season finale. San Francisco has already locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and is expected to rest several key players, but Jennings could be in store for something close to or greater than his typical workload if he manages to clear the protocol. Jennings had been serving as the 49ers' No. 3 receiver prior to suffering the concussion, but he hadn't played more than 50 percent of the offensive snaps in any of his last six outings while San Francisco had made liberal use of sets featuring a fullback or two tight ends.
Jan 4, 2024
Stays limited Thursday
Jennings (concussion) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While he maintained his activity level from Wednesday's session, Jennings was seen working without a blue non-contact jersey, per Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area, which may be a sign that the wide receiver has nearly made his way through the concussion protocol. Gaining clearance from an independent neurologist will be the final hurdle for the fourth-year pro to play for the first time since Week 15, but Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not Jennings heads into the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest against the Rams.
Jan 3, 2024
Back as limited participant
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings (concussion) will be limited at Wednesday's practice, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings has missed the past two games while making his way through the concussion protocol. With his first on-field work since suffering the injury on the horizon, he's putting himself in a position to return to action Sunday against the Rams. So far, coach Kyle Shanahan has ruled out quarterback Brock Purdy (coach's decision) and running back Christian McCaffrey (calf) for the regular-season finale, but no other skill-position players have been deemed unavailable. In the end, Jennings will need to be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to have a chance to be active this weekend.
Dec 29, 2023
Ruled out for Week 17
Jennings (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at Washington.
ANALYSIS
Willie Snead likely will fill in as the No. 3 receiver again, with Ronnie Bell and Chris Conley also candidates to play a few more snaps than usual. This is the second straight game Jennings has missed since entering concussion protocol.
Dec 28, 2023
Not practicing yet
Jennings (concussion) didn't practice Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings remains sidelined from any sort of on-field work as he recovers from the concussion that he sustained Week 15 in Arizona. As a result, he appears to be trending toward a second absence in a row Sunday at Washington, which could be confirmed as soon as the 49ers post their final Week 17 injury report Friday.
Dec 27, 2023
Sitting out Wednesday's practice
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings (concussion) won't practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings has yet to take part in drills since sustaining a concussion during a Week 15 win at Arizona. After Jennings was ruled out ahead of Monday's game against the Ravens, coach Kyle Shanahan relayed to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com that the wide receiver "has made steps" through the protocol for head injuries. Having said that, it hasn't translated to work on the practice field.
Dec 23, 2023
Has progressed in concussion protocol
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Saturday that Jennings, who won't play Monday against the Ravens, "has made steps" through the concussion protocol, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings came out of last Sunday's victory at Arizona with a concussion, and he wasn't able to practice at all during Week 16 prep, per Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site. Shanahan's comments indicate Jennings may be on the cusp of mixing into drills again, but he'll cede his typical WR reps to Ronnie Bell and Chris Conley behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk on Monday.
Dec 23, 2023
Not playing Monday
Jennings (concussion) has been ruled out for Monday's game versus the Ravens, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings made no notable progress through the protocol for head injuries this week after being diagnosed with a concussion following last Sunday's win at Arizona. As a result, he'll miss his second game of the campaign, allowing Ronnie Bell and Chris Conley to handle more WR wraps behind the top duo of Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
Dec 22, 2023
Sits out practice again Friday
Jennings (concussion) did not practice Friday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings remains in concussion protocol, casting doubt about his ability to be cleared ahead of Monday's Week 16 contest versus Baltimore. The third-year tight end consistently logs at least one-third of San Francisco's offensive snaps, though he has just seven catches on 12 targets for 84 yards and a touchdown over the team's past six games. If Jennings can't suit up Monday, Ronnie Bell could be in line for extended opportunity on offense.
Dec 21, 2023
No practice Thursday
Jennings (concussion) didn't practice Thursday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings entered the protocol for head injuries after this past Sunday's win at Arizona. His inability to mix into drills four days later generally isn't a great sign that he's made any progress with the issue, but he at least has an extra day of recovery time as the 49ers prepare for Monday's game versus the Ravens.
Dec 18, 2023
In concussion protocol
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Jennings is in the concussion protocol, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings logged a typical 41 percent snap share Sunday at Arizona on his way to two catches (on two targets) for 25 yards. In the wake of the contest, though, he'll now be subject to the protocol for head injuries in order to be cleared for game action. Jennings' activity level as the 49ers prep for a Week 16 matchup with the Ravens on Monday, Dec. 25 could be telling for his potential to play.
Dec 18, 2023
Logs 23 snaps on offense
Jennings had two receptions on as many targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 45-29 win over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Jennings got involved offensively against the Cardinals after laying a goose egg against another division foe in Week 14. The 26-year-old has only garnered more than four targets just once this season. Jennings small role leaves him with little fantasy value ahead of next Monday's tilt against the Ravens.
Dec 11, 2023
No catches against SEA
Jennings failed to haul in his lone target in Sunday's 28-16 win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Jennings followed up his best fantasy line of the season (3-44-1) with a bagel against the Seahawks. San Francisco unleashed all four of its offensive stars against the divisional foe Sunday, leaving little work for a role player such as Jennings. The 49ers' slot man has been an afterthought in both games against Seattle this season, generating just one reception for seven yards across both contests. Jennings remains only an option for those in deep leagues when the 49ers visit the Cardinals next Sunday.
Dec 4, 2023
Hauls in first TD of 2023
Jennings had three receptions on four targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 42-19 win over Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Jennings finally got in to the scoring column in 2023 after taking a short pass from Brock Purdy early in the fourth quarter and following a convoy of blockers to the end zone. The 49ers' slot receiver was on the field for 29 snaps (49 percent), which wasn't far off from his season average this year. Jennings' playing time doesn't dictate his targets on a week-to-week basis, as was the case back in Week 8 against Cincinnati when the wideout did not receive a target despite playing 84 percent of the offense's snaps. This volatility in usage limits Jennings' value to deep leagues next Sunday against Seattle.
Nov 24, 2023
Logs 24 snaps on offense
Jennings finished with one reception for seven yards while being targeted twice in Thursday's 31-13 win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Jennings received his usual allotment of snaps as the 49ers' No. 3 wideout, but there wasn't much work left for him after a trio of teammates combined for four touchdowns Thursday. The 26-year-old has just two catches over his last three games, which is primarily the result of San Francisco getting healthy on offense following its bye. Jennings' role should remain constant in Week 13 when the 49ers face the Eagles on Dec. 3.
Nov 20, 2023
No catches Sunday
Jennings failed to bring in his lone target in Sunday's 27-14 win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was on the field for 33 percent of the 49ers' offensive plays Sunday, but he still went catch-less for the third time this year. San Francisco has been leaning on its top talent to re-ignite the team with two convincing wins coming out of the bye week. Unfortunately for Jennings, that has meant little work for he and the rest of the 49ers' role players. The 26-year-old has recorded just one reception over his last three games, which should keep him off of most fantasy radars heading into Thursday's matchup against the Seahawks.
Nov 13, 2023
Little usage as stars carry offense
Jennings was on the field for 18 offensive snaps (29 percent) against Jacksonville on Sunday, finishing with one reception on two targets for eight yards in a 34-3 win.
ANALYSIS
Deebo Samuel (shoulder) returned from injury following San Francisco's Week 9 bye, pushing Jennings back into his regular spot on the depth chart. The 26-year-old was coming off a zero-target game in Week 8, so Sunday's paltry receiving line was technically a step forward. With the 49ers returning to full strength on offense and getting back in the win column, Jennings would likely need another injury to crack the starting lineup again this season. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect more than a handful of targets for the third-year wideout against the Buccaneers next Sunday.
Oct 30, 2023
Not targeted in spot-start
Jennings was in the starting lineup in place of Deebo Samuel (shoulder) on Sunday, but he was not targeted as a receiver in a 31-17 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Jennings finished with no targets despite being on the field for 50 of San Francisco's offensive snaps (85 percent) for the team's third loss in as many weeks. He wound up playing a larger share of snaps compared to last week's spot-start when he produced his best line of the season (5-54-0). With the 49ers entering a bye in Week 9, there is a good possibility Samuel could return to the starting lineup against the Jaguars on Nov. 12. If that happens, Jennings would slide back to his usual slot role when San Francisco returns to action.
Oct 24, 2023
Garners nine targets on MNF
Jennings finished with five receptions on nine targets for 54 yards in Monday's 22-17 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Jennings experienced a stark increase in targets with Deebo Samuel (shoulder) on the sidelines for Monday's loss, unlike last week when the slot receiver's usage remained stagnant following his star teammate's departure. The nine targets set a new career high for the third-year wideout, but his five receptions Monday did not. Jennings should stick in the starting lineup after the team already ruled Samuel out for Week 8, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect this gaudy of a target total from the role player against the Bengals on Sunday.
Oct 16, 2023
Finishes second in receiving Sunday
Jennings caught two of four targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Jennings finished as San Francisco's second leading receiver behind Brandon Aiyuk (4-76-0) after Deebo Samuel (shoulder) was forced out after playing just nine snaps Sunday. Jennings didn't see his snap count rise (35 offensive snaps), as Samuel's role was instead filled by the team's No. 4 option Ray-Ray McCloud (44 offensive snaps). A similar scenario unfolded when Aiyuk had to sit out a game earlier this season, confirming that Jennings is unlikely to move above or below his current slot position this season. So even if Deebo is forced to miss next Monday's tilt against Minnesota, its safe to say that Jennings' role on offense will remain unchanged.
Oct 9, 2023
Grabs one catch in return
Jennings (shin) caught his lone target for 19 yards in Sunday's 42-10 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Jennings returned from a one-game absence to reclaim his role as the 49ers' slot man Sunday. The 26-year-old wound up playing 27 snaps on offense (38 percent) while receiving just one target as head coach Kyle Shanahan continues to lean on his star talent for production. Jennings didn't make an impact in the box score from a fantasy standpoint, but his lone catch helped extend one of San Francisco's lengthy drives against Dallas on Sunday. A healthy Jennings will serve a similar low-usage role against the Browns next Sunday.
Oct 6, 2023
Ready for Week 5
Jennings (shin) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings has a brighter outlook for Week 5 than he had Week 4, when he was listed as doubtful prior to being inactive this past Sunday against the Cardinals. Despite logging limited practices Wednesday and Thursday, he now has been cleared for game action again. Having said that, Deebo Samuel (knee/ribs) will be available, too, so Jennings likely will the 49ers' third WR, at best, behind Samuel and Aiyuk this weekend. In the first three games of the campaign, Jennings reeled in four of seven targets for 82 yards and no touchdowns.
Oct 5, 2023
Limited again Thursday
Jennings (shin) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
After not practicing at all last week ahead of a Week 4 absence, Jennings now has a pair of capped sessions under his belt this week. Fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel (knee/ribs) has operated under the same regimen, so Friday's practice and subsequent injury report will be key to determining the status of the pair ahead of Sunday's showdown with the Cowboys.
Oct 4, 2023
Returns to practice
Jennings (shin) will be a limited practice participant Wednesday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings didn't practice last week and ultimately missed Sunday's win over Arizona. The Niners didn't have any WRs besides Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel above 24 percent snap share in the contest, instead leaning on FB Kyle Juszczyk (65 percent snap) a bit more than usual. Jennings will have a tough matchup with the Dallas defense if he's ready for Sunday's marquee showdown.
Oct 2, 2023
Considered day-to-day
Jennings (shin) remains day-to-day ahead of Sunday night's game against the Cowboys, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was inactive for the 49ers' Week 4 win over the Cardinals, but it appears as though there's a chance he could return to action this weekend. In his absence this past Sunday, Ray-Ray McCloud and Ronnie Bell logged complementary WR snaps behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
Oct 1, 2023
Inactive in Week 4
Jennings (shin) is inactive for Sunday's contest versus the Cardinals, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
A shin injury thus will sideline Jennings for Week 4 action, thereby giving Ronnie Bell, Ray-Ray McCloud and potentially Willie Snead expanded opportunities for wide receiver reps behind Deebo Samuel (ribs/knee) and Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder). Jennings will set his sights on returning to practice once the 49ers reconvene for Week 5 prep on Wednesday.
Sep 29, 2023
Unlikely to play Sunday
Jennings (shin) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Barring dramatic improvement leading up to Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, Jennings will miss his first game of the season after he sat out all three of the 49ers' practices this week due to the shin injury. Jennings' likely absence should open up more reps at receiver for Ronnie Bell and Ray-Ray McCloud. Both Bell and McCloud could be primed for even larger roles if top wideout Deebo Samuel (knee/ribs) -- who is listed as questionable -- isn't cleared to play.
Sep 27, 2023
Dealing with shin injury
Jennings was held out of Wednesday's practice due to a shin injury, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Even tough Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) didn't play last Thursday against the Giants, Jennings didn't experience an appreciable jump in playing time and also matched his season high in targets with three, which he turned into two catches for 31 yards. As the 49ers kick off Week 4 prep, Jennings and Deebo Samuel (ribs/knee) were DNPs, while Aiyuk was limited Wednesday. With the team's top three wide receivers all banged-up to some extent, the overall situation will be one to watch as the weekend draws closer.
Sep 22, 2023
Gains 31 yards on TNF
Jennings caught two of three targets for 31 yards in Thursday's 30-12 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
It was Ray-Ray McCloud who started in place of Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) on Thursday, which kept Jennings in the No. 3 role. The former was not targeted on offense, while Jennings saw his usual allotment of targets and playing time (31 offensive snaps). It wound up being seventh-round rookie Ronnie Bell (2-24-1) who would cash in a score in Aiyuk's absence. It became clear that San Francisco's coaching staff values Jennings in his current role, limiting any potential fantasy upside ahead of a Week 4 matchup against Arizona.
Sep 21, 2023
More snaps await Thursday
Jennings is expected to be in line for more playing time in Thursday's game with Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) inactive for the contest, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Receiver Deebo Samuel, tight end George Kittle and running back Christian McCaffrey are likely to rank as the top priorities in the Niners passing game Week 3, but the absence of Aiyuk at least opens up more opportunities for Jennings and Ronnie Bell to play alongside Samuel in two- and three-wide sets. While serving as the 49ers' No. 3 wideout in the first two games of the season, Jennings has handled 33 percent and 48 percent snap shares between Weeks 1 and 2 while accruing a 2-51-0 receiving line on four targets.
Sep 18, 2023
Gains 51 yards in win
Jennings had two receptions on three targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 30-23 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Jennings finished second in receiving yards for the 49ers after being held catchless last week. The 26-year-old made a key play on one of his two receptions when he wrestled the ball away from his defender, turning the play into a 31-yard gain instead of an interception for quarterback Brock Purdy. Despite his strong play Sunday, Jennings is unlikely to see enough targets to warrant consideration outside of deeper formats against the Giants on Thursday.
Sep 11, 2023
Finishes with no receptions
Jennings was held catchless (one target) in Sunday's 30-7 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers had little use for its supporting cast after Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk carried the offense to a comfortable victory. Jennings wound up seeing the field for 32 percent of the offense's plays, but that number should go up in games that are more competitive than Sunday's blowout. Jennings' next chance to record his first catch of the season will come in a road matchup against the Rams on Sunday.
Apr 17, 2023
Signs his one-year tender
The 49ers re-signed Jennings to a one-year, $940,000 contract Monday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings signed the dotted line Monday in order to get on the field for the start of the 49ers' offseason workout program this week. The seventh-round pick in 2020 has developed into a key member of San Francisco's offense as the third wideout and slot man. He has 59 catches for 698 yards and six touchdowns over the last two seasons.
Feb 5, 2023
Filled slot role in 2022
Jennings finished with 35 receptions (56 targets) for 416 yards and a touchdown in 16 games with San Francisco this season.
ANALYSIS
Jennings saw his offensive usage rise as the 49ers' slot receiver in his sophomore campaign. However, the 6-foot-3 wideout was unable to breakthrough as a fantasy asset due to a lack of touchdowns (one in 16 games). Jennings is scheduled to become a free agent this upcoming offseason, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him stay in San Francisco after carving out a solid role this year.
Jan 20, 2023
Ready for divisional round
Jennings (ankle) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's divisional-round game versus the Cowboys, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings operated under practice restrictions this week due to an ankle injury, but it won't impact his ability to suit up for the second round of the playoffs. With Deebo Samuel available the last two games, Jennings has moved back to a complementary role behind Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, gathering in three of seven targets for 51 yards during that span.
Jan 19, 2023
Remains limited Thursday
Jennings (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
As he did Wednesday, giving Jennings just one more chance to get back to all activity before the 49ers potentially hand him a designation for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Cowboys. In 17 appearances this season (including playoffs), he's been targeted at least twice on every occasion, which likely is what he'll be in store for this weekend, if active, with fellow wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk available to the offense.
Jan 18, 2023
Will be limited Wednesday
Jennings (ankle) will be a limited participant during Wednesday's practice, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reprots.
ANALYSIS
Jennings tweaked his ankle during the 49ers' wild-card win over Seattle and was deemed day-to-day by head coach Kyle Shanahan on Monday. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but it's a positive sign to see him at least get some work in during Wednesday's practice. Jennings will have two more opportunities to log a full session before San Francisco needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's wild-card matchup against Dallas.
Jan 16, 2023
Dealing with ankle injury
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Jennings is day-to-day with an ankle injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear when exactly Jennings tweaked his ankle injury during the 49ers' wild-card win over Seattle, but he finished the contest with two receptions on five targets for 41 yards across 26 offensive snaps. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but it's certainly a concerning development for the third-year wideout, who caught 35 of 56 targets for 416 yards and a score across 16 regular-season appearances.
Jan 11, 2023
Held to one catch in season finale
Jennings caught one of two targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 38-13 win over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Jennings dropped back to third on the receiver depth chart following Deebo Samuel's return, finishing with 26 snaps on offense (43 percent) Sunday. The 25-year-old finishes the regular season with 35 receptions for 416 yards and a receiving touchdown. Jennings should remain in a low-usage role against the Seahawks on Saturday now that the 49ers offense is back at full strength.
Jan 2, 2023
Gains 46 yards on two receptions
Jennings caught two of three targets for 46 yards in Sunday's 37-34 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Jennings made a couple of big catches in his third start in place of Deebo Samuel (ankle/knee), but his target share remained low despite the increased role. It has become clear that head coach Kyle Shanahan doesn't plan to draw up more plays for the veteran wideout even as a starter. That being said, Jennings' value should remain unchanged whether or not Samuel is able to return against the Cardinals on Sunday.
Dec 25, 2022
Disappoints in start
Jennings had two receptions (three targets) for 21 yards in Saturday's 37-20 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Jennings received another start in place of the injured Deebo Samuel (knee/ankle), logging 46 offensive snaps (88 percent) and finishing third in team targets. The 25-year-old did not experience an increase in production despite seeing his regular snap count double in these two starts. Samuel's earliest timetable could have him returning ahead of a Week 17 matchup against the Raiders. If he is not ready to return, Jennings would garner another start -- with limited upside -- on New Year's Day.
Dec 16, 2022
Three catches in win
Jennings brought in three of five targets for 31 yards in the 49ers' 21-13 win over the Seahawks on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Jennings played a modest role despite the absence of Deebo Samuel (knee), checking in a distant second to George Kittle in receiving yardage. However, it was a relatively quiet night for the air attack overall, with Jennings' five targets checking in second on the team for the night. The fourth-year pro should have another opportunity to operate as the No. 2 wideout in a Week 16 home matchup against the Commanders a week from Saturday.
Dec 12, 2022
Role could increase in Week 15
Jennings played 20 offensive snaps (34 percent) and finished with one catch (two targets) for five yards in Sunday's 35-7 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Jennings turned in one of his worst performances in rookie Brock Purdy's first career start. It's hard to recommend a player after a poor outing, but the 49ers may be without the services of Deebo Samuel (ankle) for the immediate future, opening the door for Jennings to potentially start alongside Brandon Aiyuk. Assuming that holds true, the 24-year-old could generate some deep-league value against the Seahawks on Thursday.
Dec 5, 2022
Nabs two catches Sunday
Jennings finished with two receptions on four targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 33-17 win over Miami.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off of his best fantasy game of the season, Jennings reverted to his usual modest production. The 49ers lost starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) for the season, so it was encouraging to see the team's No. 3 wideout continuing to perform as expected with third-string rookie Brock Purdy under center. Jennings shouldn't be considered a starting fantasy option against the Buccaneers in Week 14.
Nov 28, 2022
Scores first TD of 2022
Jennings caught six of seven targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 13-0 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Jennings scored his first touchdown of the 2022 campaign in unusual fashion Sunday. Jimmy Garoppolo was targeting his tallest wideout in the back corner of the end zone, but Tyrann Mathieu deflected the ball and Jennings was there to catch it as he was falling from his initial leaping attempt. The end result was a strong fantasy line from the 49ers' No. 3 receiver, who was coming off of a catchless outing against the Cardinals in Week 11. Jennings played his usual allotment of offensive snaps (41 percent), so fantasy managers shouldn't expect a repeat performance against the Dolphins on Sunday.
Nov 22, 2022
Fails to record a catch
Jennings was unable to pull in either of his two targets in Monday's 38-10 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
The usually sure-handed Jennings had a rough go of things in Mexico City where he failed to log a catch for the first time this season. The 25-year-old logged his usual share of snaps (38 percent) while serving as San Francisco's third wideout. Jennings isn't much of a fantasy option in his limited role on offense, but he should produce better than Monday's dud when the 49ers take on the Saints on Sunday.
Nov 14, 2022
Gains 40 yards in return
Jennings (hamstring) caught all four of his targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was able to get back on the field and resume his role as the No. 3 wideout after missing a game prior to last week's bye with a bum hamstring. The 25-year-old saw his usual allotment of snaps on offense (33 percent) and continued to serve as Jimmy Garoppolo's preferred target on third downs (two conversions Sunday). Jennings still doesn't provide enough volume in his current role to warrant fantasy consideration against the Cardinals next Monday.
Nov 9, 2022
Logs full practice Wednesday
Jennings (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was absent Week 8 due to a hamstring issue, then rested up during the 49ers' Week 9 bye before returning to all on-field work to kick off Week 10 prep. The same can be said for the team's No. 1 wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring), so the position group is back to full strength ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers. In seven appearances this season, Jennings has put together a 14-180-0 line on 24 targets working behind Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
Oct 30, 2022
Takes seat in Week 8
Jennings (hamstring) is listed as active Sunday at the Rams, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings managed one limited session in practice during Week 8 prep, but it wasn't enough to play through his hamstring issue. The 49ers also are without top wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring) on Sunday, so Brandon Aiyuk will be joined in the lineup by some combination of Ray-Ray McCloud, Danny Gray, Willie Snead and Tay Martin at the position. Jennings will use a Week 9 bye to heal up for the team's next game Sunday, Nov. 13 against the Chargers.
Oct 28, 2022
Deemed questionable for Week 8
The 49ers list Jennings (hamstring) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings didn't practice in any fashion Wednesday or Thursday, but the fact that he'll take a questionable tag into the weekend rather than being ruled out for Sunday's contest suggests that he may have demonstrated progress on some level at Friday's practice. If Jennings is able to overcome his hamstring injury and suit up Sunday, he'll be one of several 49ers pass catchers who will be tasked with replacing some of the vacated target volume that would have gone to No. 1 wideout Deebo Samuel (hamstring), who won't play against the Rams.
Oct 27, 2022
Still not practicing
Jennings (hamstring) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings was listed the same way Wednesday, but he at least was seen running on a side field in a helmet and uniform Thursday, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic. The 49ers' No. 1 wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring) also hasn't practiced this week, so the team's situation at the position bears watching to see if either player may suit up Sunday at the Rams.
Oct 26, 2022
Dealing with hamstring injury
Jennings (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Deebo Samuel (hamstring) also missed practice, leaving Brandon Aiyuk and Ray-Ray McCloud as San Francisco's top wide receivers. Jennings has caught two or fewer passes in every game since Week 1, but he could see a bit more work if he's healthier than Samuel for Sunday's game against the Rams.
Oct 17, 2022
Garners three targets in loss
Jennings caught two of three targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 28-14 loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Jennings continues to be Jimmy Garoppolo's go-to man on third down, with two of the receiver's three targets coming on the crucial down. The 25-year-old hasn't recorded more than two receptions since Week 1, so he is more valuable to the 49ers than he is to fantasy managers. That said, Jennings could see an extra target or two next Sunday if San Francisco is forced to play from behind against a high-powered Chiefs offense.
Oct 10, 2022
Looks explosive on two snags
Jennings (ankle) hauled in both of his targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 37-15 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Jennings entered the game with a banged up ankle, but he showed no ill effects on two impressive catch and runs where he physically abused the smaller DBs covering him. The 6-foot-3 wideout continues to show improvements as a receiver despite a low target share (3.4 per game). The stats are not there for fantasy purposes, but Jennings could be a name to watch should either Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk miss time this season. As things currently stand, Jennings will continue to operate as San Francisco's third wideout heading into a matchup against Atlanta next Sunday.
Oct 7, 2022
All set to play
Jennings (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Jennings figures to occupy his usual role as the No. 3 receiver, following three straight weeks playing less than half the snaps. He saw six targets in the season opener when the Niners fell behind in Chicago, but Jennings has been targeted only nine teams in three subsequent games and has caught just four of hose for 31 yards.
Oct 6, 2022
Remains limited Thursday
Jennings (ankle) was limited at Thursday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings has notched back-to-back capped sessions since coach Kyle Shanahan told Josh Dubow of The Associated Press on Tuesday that the third-year pro was day-to-day due to an ankle issue. He'll have one last chance to jump up to all activity Friday, at which point the 49ers may give Jennings a designation for Sunday's game in Carolina. Operating as the 49ers' No. 3 wide receiver this season, he's gathered in eight of 15 targets for 93 yards and no touchdowns in four appearances.
Oct 5, 2022
Limited by ankle issue
Jennings (ankle) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
After Monday's 24-9 win against the Rams, coach Kyle Shanahan told Josh Dubow of The Associated Press on Tuesday that Jennings was day-to-day due to an ankle injury. Jennings has upheld that statement by getting in some practice reps to begin Week 5 prep, and he'll have two more sessions to get back to full before the 49ers potentially give him a game-day designation for Sunday's contest at Carolina. On the season, Jennings has been lightly utilized behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, recording eight catches (on 15 targets) for 93 yards on 48.3 percent of the offensive snaps.
Oct 4, 2022
Battling ankle injury
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings is day-to-day after suffering an ankle injury in Monday's 24-9 win over the Rams, Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings played 18 of the 49ers' 49 snaps on offense (37 percent) in the Week 4 victory, turning his four targets into two catches for 22 yards. The 49ers will return to the practice field Wednesday as they begin preparations for a Week 5 matchup with the Panthers, but Jennings' status for that game looks uncertain at the moment. If he's sidelined this weekend, Ray-Ray McCloud would presumably be first in line to join Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk in three-receiver formations.
Sep 26, 2022
Limited to one catch
Jennings had one reception (three targets) for five yards in Sunday's 11-10 loss to Denver.
ANALYSIS
Jennings logged 26 offensive snaps (46 percent) in his usual role as the 49ers' third wideout on the depth chart. The 25-year-old did convert the team's lone third-down conversion late in the fourth quarter, but it was an otherwise forgettable night from a fantasy perspective. Jennings and the 49ers will take on the Rams next Monday.
Sep 19, 2022
Quiet in win
Jennings had one reception (two targets) for four yards in Sunday's 27-7 win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Jennings logged 35 offensive snaps (46 percent), good for third amongst all San Francisco wide receivers. While his stat line left much to be desired, the physical wideout made his presence felt in the run game. Starting quarterback Trey Lance (ankle) suffered a season-ending injury, but Jimmy Garoppolo was waiting in the wings, so the passing offense shouldn't suffer tremendously. That said, Jennings wasn't considered a fantasy option in standard formats prior to Lance's injury, so not much should change for the 25-year-old's value heading into a Week 3 matchup against Denver.
Sep 12, 2022
Leads team in receiving
Jennings played 41 of 68 offensive snaps and caught four of six targets for 62 yards in Sunday's 19-10 loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Jennings turned out to be the unexpected beneficiary of Elijah Mitchell's (knee) early departure, as Deebo Samuel was forced back to play his unnatural position of running back, effectively making Jennings and Brandon Aiyuk (67 of 68 offensive snaps and two catches for 40 yards) to take over as the 49ers' top two wideouts for the remainder of the contest. The big-framed wideout has improved at a rapid pace since he was selected in the seventh round of the 2020 draft. Jennings was already lined up to serve as the team's third wideout this year, and he may be asked to take on a bigger role while Mitchell (initial timetable of two months) and George Kittle (groin) recover from their unfortunately-timed injuries. Next Sunday's matchup against the Seahawks will clear up a convoluted fantasy situation in San Francisco, which was both literally and figurately muddied by a shocking loss at Soldier Field. With the first waiver-wire period embarking on the fantasy world -- and a wild Week 1 not even in the books -- Jen

Sticking with San Francisco
Jennings signed his exclusive rights tender with the 49ers on Tuesday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings will return for his third season with San Francisco as he was ineligible from negotiating with outside teams as an exclusive rights free agent this offseason. The 2020 seventh-round pick caught 24 passes for 282 yards and five receiving touchdowns over 16 regular-season games last season after never seeing the field in his rookie season. Jennings also accounted for 51 rushing yards on 13 carries last season and should slot in as the 49ers' No. 3 wideout once again next season barring any changes to this position group.
Jan 10, 2022
Best game of professional career
Jennings had six receptions (seven targets) for 94 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Jennings saved his best for last, as his two-touchdown game helped propel the 49ers to an upset victory than landed his team in the playoffs. The 23-year-old hadn't topped three receptions, 46 yards or one touchdown in any of his previous 15 appearances this season, but he crushed each of those categories in one fell swoop against the Rams. Jennings has shown soft hands to complement his large frame (6-foot-3, 212 pounds), but it would be outlandish if he managed to produce anything close to this monster performance in next week's playoff tilt against the Cowboys in his current role as the No. 3 wideout in San Francisco.
Jan 3, 2022
Has two receptions in win
Jennings caught both of his targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 23-7 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Jennings saw his usual allotment of offensive snaps (48 percent) as the 49ers' No. 3 wideout, finishing with two receptions for the second week in a row. The 23-year-old didn't see his role on offense change much with rookie Trey Lance under center, so there isn't much to report here from a fantasy perspective. San Francisco escaped this matchup relatively healthy, leaving Jennings off the radar as an asset heading into a Week 18 matchup against the Rams.
Dec 24, 2021
Logs 27 offensive snaps
Jennings caught two of five targets for 19 yards in Thursday's 20-17 loss to Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Jennings saw his usual allotment of offensive snaps (46 percent), but was unable to replicate last week's trip to the end zone. The 23-year-old would have finished with three receptions for the third straight game if he didn't drop a pass that hit him right in the hands during a crucial stalled drive in the fourth quarter. Jennings has settled into a low-usage role as the 49ers' No. 3 wideout heading into a Week 17 matchup against the Texans.
Dec 20, 2021
Hits pay dirt in victory
Jennings had three receptions (six targets) for 28 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-13 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers' No. 3 wideout logged his usual amount of offensive snaps (44 percent), but he was able to use his large frame (6-foot-3) on a quick slant route for a four-yard touchdown to bolster his fantasy day. Jennings has now scored two touchdowns over his last four contests, with both uncoincidentally coming in the only two games where he saw red-zone targets. Jimmy Garoppolo may have figured out how to use his tallest rotation wideout closer to the goal line, but sporadic trips to the end zone aren't enough to offset the 24-year-old's low yardage output in his current role. Jennings is just a deep-league option heading into Thursday's matchup against the Titans.
Dec 13, 2021
Plays 65 percent of snaps
Jennings corralled three of five targets for 46 yards in Sunday's 26-23 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Jennings saw some extended run in the receiver rotation with Deebo Samuel filling in at running back (8-37-1) for the injured Elijah Mitchell (concussion/knee). This resulted in the 25-year-old experiencing new season highs in receptions, targets, yards and offensive snaps (45) in one fell swoop. Mitchell's status for next Sunday's matchup against Atlanta is still unclear, but Jennings requires at least one of San Francisco's top playmakers to be absent for him to carry any value in deeper formats.
Dec 6, 2021
Sticks in No. 3 role
Jennings logged 29 offensive snaps (50 percent) while catching his lone target for eight yards in Sunday's 30-23 loss to Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Trent Sherfield (two receptions for 16 yards) took over Deebo Samuel's (groin) spot in the starting lineup, which kept Jennings in the slot role for the time being. When Samuel returns (could be as soon as this Sunday), it will be interesting to see whether Jennings will retain his spot at third on the receiver depth chart, or if Sherfield has permanently leapfrogged him. Either way, the 23-year-old remains nothing more than a potential red-zone target (two touchdowns on eight red-zone targets) with limited playing time.
Nov 29, 2021
Role continues to grow
Jennings had two receptions on three targets for 24 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-36 win over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Jennings continued to see a gradual increase in usage while serving as the 49ers' No. 3 wideout, experiencing new highs in targets and receiving yardage. The 23-year-old even appeared to catch a second touchdown, but it was reviewed and overturned when the wideout's knee barely grazed the white sideline paint in the end zone. Jennings may continue to see his usage increase with Deebo Samuel's (groin) status unclear for next week's matchup against the Seahawks. It is worth mentioning that fellow wideout Trent Sherfield appeared to be running Samuel's backfield motions and distractions in the fourth quarter, but both receivers are likely to see a small uptick in action if the star wideout misses any time.
Nov 22, 2021
One catch in win
Jennings caught his lone target for four yards in Sunday's 30-10 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Jennings continued serving as the 49ers' third wideout in place of the injured Mohamed Sanu (knee), logging 33 offensive snaps (48 percent) in a comfortable win. The increased playing time has not resulted in a larger role in the passing game, as the 24-year-old has just two receptions for seven yards on three targets in the two games since taking over the slot role. We should expect more of the same from Jennings against the Vikings next Sunday.
Nov 16, 2021
Takes over as No. 3 WR
Jennings logged 32 offensive snaps (47 percent) Monday, finishing with one reception (two targets) for three yards in a 31-10 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Mohamed Sanu (knee) was placed on injured reserve this week, so Jennings assumed the veteran's role as the team's third wideout. The 23-year-old only saw two targets despite being on the field for nearly half of the team's offensive snaps, so there isn't much to report here from a fantasy perspective in the 49ers' current configuration.
Sep 20, 2021
Scores first career touchdown
Jennings caught both of his targets for 17 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 17-11 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Jennings ran a levels concept with tight end George Kittle, taking the under route and benefitting from the defense drifting towards his teammate as the wideout took the ball to the house. While this was a big day for the 24-year-old, keep in mind that he logged just six offensive snaps, so he is unlikely to find the end zone very often with the current depth chart configuration.
Sep 8, 2021
Off injury report
Jennings (heel) isn't listed on the 49ers' injury report Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Jennings played well in the 49ers' preseason opener but an injury in Week 2 derailed the receivers' chances of making the team. The 24-year-old ended up making the team and is no longer on the injury report so he could see minimal snaps in Sunday's season opener.
Aug 28, 2021
Expected to play Sunday
Jennings (heel) participated in Friday's walk-through practice and is expected to play in the preseason finale Sunday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings had a strong showing in the preseason opener, totaling three touches for 49 yards, but he was unable to maintain that momentum as a heel injury sidelined him for Week 2 of preseason. The extra work will be vital for the 24-year-old as he competes for a roster spot with Travis Benjamin and Trent Sherfield.
Aug 26, 2021
Practices in limited capacity
Jennings was limited to side work during Thursday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
jennings appears to be progressing towards being available for the 49ers' final preseason game against the Raiders on Aug. 29. The 2020 seventh-round pick was forced to miss last week's contest after an impressive performance during Week 1 of the preseason. He spent parts of his rookie season on the practice squad and was vying for a spot on the regular-season roster before his injury.
Aug 22, 2021
Sitting with heel injury
Jennings won't play in Sunday's preseason game at the Chargers due to a heel injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A 2020 seventh-round pick of the 49ers, Jennings spent parts of his rookie season on the team's practice squad. After a stay on the reserve/COVID-19 list during training camp this summer, he impressed in preseason Week 1 with three touches for 49 yards from scrimmage on 38 offensive snaps. Now, a different health concern is threatening his availability, which in turn could set him back in his case for a spot on the regular-season roster.
Aug 16, 2021
Making case for roster spot
Jennings' strong showing in the preseason opener (three touches for 49 yards) has put him in position to compete for a roster spot this preseason, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
While Trent Sherfield stole the show with an 80-yard touchdown reception, it was Jennings who was the first backup to enter the game against the Chiefs on Saturday, also finishing with a position-high 38 offensive snaps. The team clearly wanted to get a look at the 24-year-old, and his success on the field puts him in the mix to compete for a backup job behind what looks to be a settled starting trio of Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Mohamed Sanu.
Aug 9, 2021
Back from COVID list
Jennings (undisclosed) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings is now back at practice after landing on the COVID list in late July. The 24-year-old spent time on San Francisco's practice squad last year after going undrafted out of Tennessee.
Jul 28, 2021
On COVID list
The 49ers placed Jennings (undisclosed) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings appears to have recovered from the serious hamstring issue he sustained last October, but he'll now need to clear the league's COVID-19 protocols before practicing in training camp. He's likely competing for a spot on San Francisco's practice squad.
Jan 4, 2021
Signs with 49ers
Jennings secured a contract with San Fransisco on Monday.
ANALYSIS
After spending some time on the practice squad with the 49ers this season, Jennings (hamstring) will land a spot on the reserves/future list. After suffering an injury in October, the receiver was unable to play in a game and did not see any targets this season.
Dec 14, 2020
Return to practice not imminent
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Jennings (hamstring) isn't expected to practice in the near future, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Shanahan added that Jennings nearly ripped his hamstring in October. Despite Shanahan's pessimism in the short term, the head coach was hopeful that Jennings will practice and possibly play in a game by the end of the season. Jennings posted a 59-969-8 line over 13 games in his senior season at Tennessee. He'll remain on the 49ers' practice squad until he's healthy.
Nov 25, 2020
Battling hamstring injury
Coach Kyle Shanahan relayed Wednesday that Jenning remains on the practice squad injured reserve list with a hamstring injury, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Shanahan explained that Jennings would've been called up to the active roster to fill the void at wide receiver if it wasn't for this injury. Jennings will aim to return in about three weeks, and that same opportunity could be available at that time. The rookie seventh-round pick out of Tennessee produced a 59-969-8 line in his final collegiate season.
Oct 25, 2020
Dealing with injury
The 49ers placed Jennings (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured reserve list Sunday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
The specifics of the injury remain unclear, but his absence from practice is a hit to the receiving depth of the 49ers. The 2020 seventh-round pick has resided on the practice squad for the entire season to this point.
Sep 9, 2020
Sticks on practice squad
Jennings was selected to the 49ers' practice squad, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Jennings had a poor combine (4.72 40-yard dash), but turned in a strong camp by drawing praise for his polished route running for his 6-foot-3 frame. The 49ers have a young receiving corps that is already dealing with injuries, so the seventh-round draft pick may find himself getting the call at some point this season.
Sep 6, 2020
Let go by 49ers
