Puts on pressure in Week 1 win
Hines-Allen didn't notch any tackles in a Week 1 win against Carolina, though he was credited with a QB hit.
ANALYSIS
Hines-Allen logged 72 percent of Jacksonville's defensive snaps but was unable to make any stops. He was disruptive nonetheless, recording eight QB pressures, per John Shipley of SI.com. Hines-Allen's IDP contributions typically depend on his ability to take down the quarterback -- he's recorded at least 7.0 regular-season sacks in four straight campaigns.
Jan 4, 2025
Won't play in regular-season finale
Hines-Allen (personal) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 18 clash against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The Jaguars announced Saturday morning that Hines-Allen won't travel with the team to Indianapolis due to a personal matter. Sunday will mark the star defensive end's first regular-season absence since 2021. Hines-Allen's 2024 campaign will end with his sacks total dropping from 17.5 last year to 8.0 this season. However, he's still had a strong year with 29 QB pressures and 45 total tackles along with two pass defenses and a recovered fumble. Hines-Allen has four years remaining on the five-year, $141.25 million contract he inked with the Jaguars in April.
Dec 30, 2024
Earns season-high tackle total
Hines-Allen recorded six tackles (three solo) including 1.0 sacks during Sunday's 20-13 win versus the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Protecting a lead late in the third quarter, Hines-Allen overpowered massive left tackle JC Latham and felled the bulky Mason Rudolph for his eighth sack of the season. He'll take all the pass-rushing opportunities he can get when the Jaguars go on the road to play a run-heavy Indianapolis team in Week 18.
Dec 10, 2024
Gets another sack in win
Hines-Allen recorded two tackles (two solo) including 1.0 sacks and a forced fumble during Sunday's 10-6 win at Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
The Titans were trying to get off a hail-mary attempt from midfield on the last play of the first half, but Hines-Allen turned the corner around left tackle JC Latham and crushed Will Levis, forcing a fumble that Tennessee was fortunate to recover. He'll be looking to add to his season sack total in Week 15 versus the Jets.
Dec 3, 2024
Registers sixth sack
Hines-Allen posted four tackles (three solo), including 1.0 sacks, in Sunday's Week 13 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Hines-Allen's sack came on a second-and-goal play from the six-yard line in the second quarter and helped hold Houston to a field goal. It was the veteran defensive end's first sack since he registered a pair of them against the Eagles in Week 9. Hines-Allen's 6.0 sacks on the campaign are a far cry from the career-high 17.5 he racked up last season.
Nov 4, 2024
Records two sacks against Eagles
Hines-Allen finished with four solo tackles, including 2.0 sacks and two tackles for losses, in Sunday's 28-23 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The defensive end also played on 70 percent of the defensive snaps. Hines-Allen has 25 tackles (14 solo), including 5.0 sacks, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery this season.
Oct 7, 2024
Logs sack versus Colts
Hines-Allen logged three tackles (three solo), including 1.0 sack, in Jacksonville's win over the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Hines-Allen spent the majority of the week in the concussion protocol but ended up having a solid outing for the Jaguars. The 27-year-old will look to continue to add to his sack total as the season goes on after having only recorded two throughout his first five appearances.
Oct 5, 2024
Clears concussion protocols
Hines-Allen has cleared concussion protocols and will play Sunday against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Hines-Allen suffered a concussion during the Jaguars' Week 4 loss to the Texans, but he has progressed through the league's five-step protocols and will play in Sunday's divisional matchup. The 2019 first-round pick has registered 12 tackles (six solo), including 1.0 sacks, and two passes defended through four regular-season games.
Oct 4, 2024
Questionable for Week 5
Hines-Allen (concussion) was a limited participant in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Hines-Allen was diagnosed with a concussion during the Jaguars' Week 4 loss to the Texans. After sitting out of Wednesday's practice, Hines-Allen returned for Thursday's session and was limited in Friday's practice. However, he has to continue to progress through the league's five-step concussion protocols in order to be cleared ahead of Sunday's game.
Oct 3, 2024
Showing signs of progress
Hines-Allen (concussion) logged a limited practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Hines-Allen suffered a concussion in last Sunday's loss to the Texans. His ability to get back on the field in any capacity Thursday suggests he's progressing through the league's five-step protocols quickly. However, there's no guarantee he'll gain clearance to play ahead of this Sunday's game against the Colts.
Oct 2, 2024
Logs DNP on Wednesday
Hines-Allen (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
The Jaguars' top edge rusher suffered a concussion during the team's Week 4 loss to the Texans, so it's no surprise that he didn't practice Wednesday. If Hines-Allen is unable to clear concussion protocol by the time of Sunday's contest, expect Myles Cole to see additional reps with Jacksonville's first-team defense.
Sep 29, 2024
Suffers concussion Sunday
Hines-Allen suffered a concussion during Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Texans, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
The defensive end made three tackles (two solo) before leaving the game. Hines-Allen will have to pass the league's five-step concussion protocol to play next week against the Colts. He has 12 tackles, including a sack, and two passes defensed in 2024.
Sep 29, 2024
Enters concussion protocols
Hines-Allen is being evaluated for a concussion and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Texans, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Hines-Allen will have to pass the league's five-step concussion protocols in order to return Sunday. Hines-Allen and Travon Walker are the only active defensive ends on the Jaguars' roster.
Apr 10, 2024
Agrees to massive five-year deal
Allen and the Jaguars agreed to terms Wednesday on a five-year, $150 million contract, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacksonville is about a month removed from placing the franchise tag on Allen, who tallied a franchise-record 17.5 sacks last season, but the team's stated goal has always been to negotiate a long-term contract with the two-time Pro Bowler. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Allen's new deal includes $88 million guaranteed, while the franchise tag would've had him play out the 2024 season on a salary of just over $24 million. Allen looked convincing as one of the league's elite pass-rushers in 2024, in which he also logged 66 tackles (43 solo), one interception and two forced fumbles across 17 regular-season appearances. He'll come off the board as one of the top players at his position in IDP formats in 2024 drafts.
Mar 5, 2024
Officially gets franchise tag
The Jaguars have officially placed their franchise tag on Allen ahead of Tuesday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline.
ANALYSIS
Allen receiving the franchise tag has been long expected, and is now official. The 2019 first-round pick is coming off a true breakout campaign, with a career-high 17.5 sacks in 2023, to go with 66 tackles (43 solo), one interception and two forced fumbles. He and Jacksonville still have until mid-July to negotiate a long-term deal, but if Allen believes he can replicate similar production in the 2024 season, he may be comfortable betting on himself with the hopes of hitting the open market next offseason as a true star at one of the NFL's most sought-after positions.
Mar 5, 2024
To be tagged
The Jaguars are expected to place the franchise tag on Allen by Tuesday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen will play out the 2024 season on a one-year, guaranteed $24 million contract if the Jaguars indeed place the franchise tag on him, and a long-term deal isn't agreed to by mid-July. The 2019 first-round pick broke out in a big way with 66 tackles (43 solo), 17.5 sacks, one interception and two forced fumbles in 17 regular-season games last season, and he would immediately become one of the top available free agents on the market were Jacksonville allow him to walk.
Feb 22, 2024
Racks up 17.5 sacks
Allen finished the season with 66 tackles (43 solo), 17.5 sacks, one interception and two forced fumbles in 17 games.
ANALYSIS
The 2019 first-round pick entered 2023 with 17 combined sacks across the previous four years, but he eclipsed that total last season as he tied for second in the NFL with 17.5. It was a contract year for Allen, and the 26-year-old is poised for a significant payday this offseason, though he may have to settle for the franchise tag if he and the Jaguars are unable to agree on a long-term deal.
Jan 2, 2024
Third in NFL in sacks
Allen recorded six tackles (five solo) including three sacks in Sunday's 26-20 win versus the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Allen's masterpiece in Week 17 brought his season sack total up to 16.5, better than everyone in the league except for T.J. Watt and Trey Hendrickson, both of whom have 17.0 going into the last week of the regular season. Allen is making a strong case for a huge second contract and will have at least one more chance to add to that case in Week 18 at Tennessee.
Dec 6, 2023
Interception in loss
Allen recorded seven tackles (three solo), including 1.5 sacks, while also intercepting a pass and deflecting another in Monday's 34-31 overtime loss to Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Allen was once again able to get to the quarterback in Week 13, producing at least a half-sack for the third contest in a row. The highlight of the game for him came in the third quarter though, when he was able to intercept a pass thrown by Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd. The interception was only Allen's second of his career through five seasons with Jacksonville.
Nov 27, 2023
Has another multi-sack outing
Allen recorded five tackles (four solo) including 2.5 sacks in Sunday's 24-21 win at Houston.
ANALYSIS
Allen tallied two-plus sacks for the fourth time this season and secured the second double-digit sack season of his career in Week 12. He's already had a career year, and there are still six games left to play, so he projects as a great IDP play wherever he's defensive-lineman eligible.
Oct 31, 2023
Two sacks in Week 8 win
Allen registered five tackles (three solo) including two sacks in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Both of Allen's sacks came in the second half on Mitch Trubisky, who subbed in for Kenny Pickett (ribs). Allen has played in at least 80 percent of defensive snaps in three straight games and his nine sacks on the year ranks second in the NFL behind Danielle Hunter (10). Allen is just 1.5 sacks from surpassing his career-high in his rookie year and will get a chance to hit that mark after the bye in Week 10 against the 49ers.
Sep 24, 2023
Good to go
Allen (shoulder) is active Sunday against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Allen was forced out of the team's Week 2 loss to Kansas City and was questionable throughout the week for Sunday's contest against Houston. However, after logging a limited practice Friday, the team's 2019 first-round selection will play, which is good news for the Jacksonville defense.
Sep 22, 2023
Questionable for Sunday
Allen (shoulder) was a limited participant at practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus Houston, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
After being forced out of Week 2 versus Kansas City with a sprained shoulder, Allen seems truly questionable for Week 3. If he can't go, K'Lavon Chaisson figures to see more opportunities on the edge.
Sep 18, 2023
Quick recovery expected
Allen is considered day-to-day due to a shoulder sprain suffered in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
That's good news for the Jaguars and Allen, who is one of the team's most productive players on defense. However, his status during practice will be worth monitoring in the days ahead leading up to the team's Week 3 matchup with the Texans.
Sep 17, 2023
Leaves with injury
Allen has exited Sunday's game against the Chiefs early with a shoulder injury, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen recorded one tackle before suffering the injury. His exit will leave the team down one of their starting outside linebackers, while also opening up extra work for Shaquille Quarterman.
Sep 11, 2023
Monstrous production in Week 1
Allen recorded 10 tackles and three sacks in Sunday's 31-21 win at the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Allen got a blazing start Sunday to what he hopes will be the second double-digit sack season of his career. Some of his sack production could be chalked up to inexperience from rookie Indianapolis quarterback Anthony Richardson, who took four total sacks in Week 1, but Allen and his counterpart Travon Walker are obviously going to be a force to be reckoned with in 2023.
Sep 6, 2023
Absent from injury report Wednesday
Allen (undisclosed) was not on Jacksonville's injury report Wednesday ahead of Sunday's game at Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Allen temporarily stepped away from practice late in August, but it looks like he's back in time to start in Week 1 at the Colts. The 2019 first-rounder has not posted double-digit sack totals since his rookie season despite playing a full 17 games last year, so there's heavy pressure to perform as he enters a contract season.
Aug 21, 2023
Stepping away from practice
Allen (undisclosed) was excused from practice Monday, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is expected to return later in the week but it's not clear why he needed to step away. However, once he is able to he'll return to the team. The Kentucky product should be one of the team's starters at outside linebacker once again this season.
Jan 3, 2023
Forces strip-sack in win
Allen recorded six tackles (three solo), including one sack, and a forced fumble during Sunday's 31-3 win against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Allen logged his third sack in the last four weeks, forcing a fumble as he brought down Houston signal-caller Davis Mills early in the second quarter. This also marked the Jaguars' only takeaway in this massive blowout. Allen also paced Jacksonville with 74 percent of defensive snaps played since the team benched its starters early in the second half. Allen has now accumulated six sacks over 16 games this season, and he should have a good chance to get after Titans quarterback Joshua Dobbs in Week 18, as Tennessee has allowed the seventh-most sacks in the league with 45.
Nov 14, 2022
Notches seven tackles in Week 10
Allen finished Sunday's Week 10 loss to the Chiefs with seven tackles (four solo).
ANALYSIS
Allen and Foyesade Oluokun each recorded seven stops in the contest to tie for the team lead. Allen tied his season-high mark in the category, as he also tallied seven tackles against the Eagles in Week 4. He has only three sacks this season, so he's currently on pace to finish with fewer than the 7.5 sacks he recorded last year.
Oct 4, 2022
Tallies third sack
Allen recorded seven tackles (three solo) including one sack during Sunday's 29-21 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Allen notched his third sack and his highest number of tackles this season in Week 4. The linebacker also lined up on all but eight of the Jaguars' 82 defensive snaps Sunday, marking his fourth straight game playing at least 80 percent of the team's defensive snaps.
Sep 19, 2022
Two sacks in win
Allen recorded three tackles (two solo), two sacks and a forced fumble during Sunday's 24-0 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
After a modest performance in the season opener, Allen got back on track in Week 2. He strip-sacked Matt Ryan at the end of the first quarter, but Indianapolis was able to secure the loose ball. The fourth-year pass rusher took down the veteran quarterback again on a third-down play at the beginning of the second quarter. If healthy, Allen will likely be a double-digit sack candidate for the 2022 campaign.
Apr 28, 2022
Fifth-year option picked up
The Jaguars exercised Allen's fifth-year contract option Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen is now set to receive a guaranteed salary of $11.5 million in the 2023 season and figures to be a key piece in the Jaguars' pass rush over the next two years. The No. 7 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft had somewhat of a bounce-back campaign this past year coming off a very disappointing second season in Jacksonville, netting a career-best 71 tackles to go along with 7.5 sacks and one interception over 16 games in 2021.
Jan 12, 2022
Delivers two sacks in finale
Allen had four tackles (three solo) and two sacks during Sunday's 26-11 win against Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Allen played 89 percent of the defensive snaps and finished the season on a strong note with his first sacks since Week 9. Overall it was a disappointing campaign for the 2019 first-round pick, as he totaled 71 tackles (46 solo), 7.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble in 16 games. The overall quality of the defense around him means more attention from opposing offenses, so Allen could have a tall task again for his fourth season in Jacksonville unless the unit receives an influx of talent heading into 2022.
Jan 3, 2022
Six tackles in return
Allen had six tackles (four solo) during Sunday's 50-10 loss at New England.
ANALYSIS
Allen returned from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday and played 65 percent of the defensive snaps after missing one game. The 24-year-old enters the final week of the season with 66 tackles (43 solo), 5.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble in 15 games.
Dec 31, 2021
Rejoins active roster
Allen (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.
ANALYSIS
Allen landed on the COVID list last week and was expected to miss two games since he tested positive and is unvaccinated, but the updated league protocols mean he can return for Week 17. The 24-year-old has 60 tackles, 5.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble in 14 games this season.
Dec 24, 2021
Tests positive for COVID-19
Allen was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday after testing positive for the virus, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is unvaccinated, per Mark Long of the Associated Press, meaning he'll missed both Weeks 16 and 17 while going through the health and safety protocols. K'Lavon Chaisson and Jordan Smith should see more run at outside linebacker in the meantime for Jacksonville.
Dec 16, 2021
Back at practice
Allen (shoulder) returned to log a full practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen missed the Jaguars' first practice of the week Wednesday but appears to be ready to go for Week 15 against the Texans after being a full participant Thursday. The 24-year-old has 58 tackles, 5.5 sacks, four pass deflections, an interception and a fumble recovery in 13 games this season.
Dec 15, 2021
Does not practice
Allen (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Allen was held out of Wednesday's practice after playing his lowest defensive snap share (54%) of the season in Week 14's loss to the Titans. The linebacker has not missed any games so far this season. Backup Lerentee McCray would be next in line to play if Allen is unavailable for Sunday's game against Houston.
Nov 23, 2021
Racks up 10 stops
Allen had 10 tackles (four solo) and one forced fumble in Sunday's 30-10 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Allen had an unusual double-digit tackling performance as a defensive end, due in large part to the fact that San Francisco's offense opted to run the ball 42 times with the game well in hand. Still, it was yet another solid fantasy performance for Allen, who remains a high-end option in IDP formats heading into a Week 12 matchup against the Falcons' vulnerable O-line.
Nov 21, 2021
Picked off five times in last three
Allen completed 21 of 35 passes for 209 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 41-15 loss to the Colts. He added two carries for 18 yards and ran in a two-point conversion.
ANALYSIS
Allen was intercepted on an ill-advised 3rd-and-18 throw to cap Buffalo's opening drive. The next possession almost ended with another interception, but a review determined that the ball hit the ground on the play in question. Allen made the most of the second chance, finding Stefon Diggs for a six-yard touchdown, but it was all Colts outside of that drive. Indianapolis picked off Allen again in the third quarter en route to a 38-7 lead before Allen found Diggs for a nine-yard touchdown and ran in a two-point conversion in the fourth. While his ceiling remains among the highest at the quarterback position any given week, Allen has now thrown five interceptions in the past three games after totaling just three over his first seven contests. He'll look to reverse that recent trend on Thanksgiving against the Saints.
Nov 14, 2021
Bounces back with over 350 yards
Allen completed 21 of 28 passes for 366 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 45-17 win over the Jets. He added three yards on two rushing attempts.
ANALYSIS
After failing to lead his team into the end zone in last week's upset loss to Jacksonville, Allen didn't take long to end his touchdown drought, capping Buffalo's first drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass to third-string running back Matt Breida. He added a 12-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs in the final minute of the first half to take a 17-3 lead into the halftime break, and it was all Bills after that, as they built up a 38-3 lead by the end of the third quarter. Allen set a new season high in passing yards while eclipsing 350 for the third time, and he has also tossed multiple touchdown passes in all but two games this season, so he'll remain a top-end fantasy option under center in Week 11 against the generous Colts secondary.
Nov 8, 2021
Bests Josh Allen in victory
Allen had eight tackles (all solo), a sack, an interception and a fumble recovery during Sunday's 9-6 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old played 78 percent of the defensive snaps and was a consistent presence Sunday as he got the better of quarterback Josh Allen. The young defensive end led the Jaguars in tackles for good measure and also grabbed the first interception of his career. Allen now has 39 tackles (27 solo) and 5.5 sacks through eight games in 2021.
Nov 7, 2021
Disastrous outing
Allen completed 31 of 47 pass attempts for 264 yards and two interceptions while running for 50 yards on five carries against Jacksonville on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It was a dysfunctional and utterly bizarre game in many ways, and Allen's fantasy output was probably the biggest shock among them as the Bills unthinkably lost 9-6 to the Jaguars. Perhaps playing without two starting offensive linemen helped bring about the struggles, and pressure was indeed a problem as the Jaguars sacked Allen four times while hitting him eight times. While a game this fluky isn't a fair representation of Allen in general, it's a brutal missed opportunity for his fantasy investors in a matchup where everything appeared favorable on paper. As much as it might be difficult for Allen's rattled fantasy managers to feel reassured after a game like this, Allen should bounce back against the Jets in Week 10.
Nov 2, 2021
Records two sacks
Allen had six tackles (five solo) and two sacks during Sunday's 31-7 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Allen had only a half-sack over the previous four games, but he tallied two sacks and two additional tackles for loss in Sunday's blowout loss. The 2019 first-round pick has 31 tackles (19 solo), 4.5 sacks and three passes defensed through seven games in 2021.
Oct 31, 2021
Solid, mistake-free in Week 8 win
Allen completed 29 of 42 passes for 249 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bills' 26-11 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. He also rushed eight times for 55 yards and another score and fumbled once without turning it over.
ANALYSIS
While the final score shows a 15-point margin of victory, the actual flow of the contest was that of a much tougher win. Buffalo managed to pull away late with 16 fourth-quarter points, with Allen contributing a 19-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs early in the period. The star quarterback also helmed a time-consuming 14-play, 59-yard drive later in the quarter that culminated in a Tyler Bass 39-yard field goal that gave the Bills some all-important breathing room at 20-11 while also leaving Miami with just 3:33 on the clock. Allen's final numbers, which he padded with a seven-yard touchdown scamper to close things out with 1:07 remaining, were certainly fantasy-friendly enough, and he's now tossed multiple touchdown passes in six straight contests. Allen will look to continue his stellar run of play when the Bills host the Jaguars in Week 9.
Oct 18, 2021
Tops 350 yards in narrow defeat
Allen completed 35 of 47 passes for 353 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Monday night's 34-31 loss to the Titans. He also rushed nine times for 26 yards and caught a two-point conversion.
ANALYSIS
Allen came up short on a fourth-and-one sneak attempt from the Titans' three-yard line with under 25 seconds remaining, but the quarterback still turned in an impressive overall performance. He started with a 14-yard touchdown to top wideout Stefon Diggs, then after being hit on an interception in his own territory, Allen rallied with a 29-yard score to Cole Beasley with under a minute left in the first half. Allen then hit Tommy Sweeney from one yard for his third score, after which he caught a reverse pass for a two-point conversion. Although Monday's narrow defeat will now send Allen into the Bills' bye week on a sour note, he's accounted for at least 350 total yards in three of his last four outings, producing 14 touchdowns over that span.
Oct 3, 2021
Efficient day against Texans
Allen completed 20 of 29 pass attempts for 248 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's Week 4 win over the Texans. He added six rushes for 41 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allen threw an interception on his first pass of the the game, but he spent the rest of the contest picking apart the Texans' secondary. Five of his 20 completions went for 20 or more yards, and he completed those passes to four different receivers. The only thing holding Allen back from a bigger performance was the fact that the game was such a blowout, as Mitchell Trubisky entered the contest midway through the fourth quarter. After a slow start to the season, Allen has racked up nine total touchdowns as compared to two interceptions across his last three games.
Sep 26, 2021
Stellar performance in rout
Allen completed 32 of 43 passes for 358 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bills' 43-21 win over Washington on Sunday. He also rushed four times for nine yards and another score.
ANALYSIS
This was the breakout effort that both the Bills brass that had doled out the big offseason check and Allen's fantasy managers were waiting on from the fourth-year signal-caller. Allen was spectacular from early on against a Washington squad with a reputation for tough defense, racking up touchdown tosses of 28, seven and 14 yards to Emmanuel Sanders, Zack Moss and Dawson Knox, respectively, in the first half. Allen added another five-yard dart to Sanders in the third quarter before closing out Buffalo's scoring with a two-yard touchdown scamper. With his first MVP-caliber performance now under his belt, Allen will look to continue his ascent versus the vulnerable Texans in a Week 4 home battle.
Sep 21, 2021
Records another sack
Allen had three tackles (one solo) and a sack during Sunday's 23-13 loss to Denver.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old played 49 of 69 defensive snaps and brought down Teddy Bridgewater for a 16-yard loss during the first quarter, which helped hold the Broncos to a field goal. Allen is off to a strong start this season with eight total tackles and two sacks through two games.
Sep 19, 2021
Tosses two TDs in rout of Fins
Allen completed 17 of 33 passes for 179 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 35-0 win over the Dolphins. He added 35 yards on five rushing attempts.
ANALYSIS
Allen wasn't asked to do too much with the Bills' defense and running game dominating. He gave Buffalo a 14-0 first-quarter lead with a five-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs before finding tight end Dawson Knox for an eight-yard score in the third. Allen almost scored on the ground in the fourth but was ruled down at the 1-yard line on his slide before watching Zack Moss power in Buffalo's third rushing touchdown on the next play. After facing two of the league's toughest defenses to open the season, Allen will next take on a Washington defense that hasn't played well in the early going despite boasting some big names along the defensive line.
Sep 13, 2021
Records sack in season opener
Allen had five tackles (three solo) and one sack during Sunday's 37-21 loss at Houston.
ANALYSIS
It was Jacksonville's lone sack of the afternoon as Tyrod Taylor had an efficient day leading the Texans offense. Allen recorded only 2.5 sacks in eight games last season before going down with an injury, but he's off to a strong start in 2021.
Sep 12, 2021
Big numbers but no win in opener
Allen completed 30 of 51 passes for 270 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Bills' 23-16 loss to the Steelers on Sunday. He also rushed nine times for 44 yards and committed two fumbles, losing one.
ANALYSIS
While Allen's numbers were certainly appealing from a fantasy perspective, they came up short in the real-world context due to the Bills consistently failing to cash in drives with touchdowns. Allen and his offensive teammates did appear to be building some momentum late in the first half when he hit Gabriel Davis for a nifty three-yard touchdown pass, but Buffalo's two second-half scoring marches culminated in Tyler Bass field goals. Allen did display his usual strong chemistry with Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley, hitting his top duo a combined 17 times for 129 yards, and he and the Bills will look to atone for the Week 1 stumble in Week 2 against the Dolphins on the road.
Aug 30, 2021
Comes off COVID list
The Jaguars activated Allen (undisclosed) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
ANALYSIS
Allen spent roughly a week clearing the league's health and safety protocols, and he can now return to team facilities and participate in practice. As such, the 2019 first-round pick can be considered fully on track for Sept. 12's season opener against the Texans.

Shreds Green Bay's backups
Allen completed 20 of 26 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's preseason game against Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
With Stefon Diggs (knee) held out, Allen completed five passes to Gabriel Davis and four apiece to Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders while leading the first-team offense to 14 points on three drives against Green Bay's second-string defense. Allen will get a real challenge Week 1, with Buffalo hosting the Steelers at 1 p.m. ET on Sept. 12. Diggs should be ready for the opener after going through pregame warmups in uniform Saturday morning.
Aug 26, 2021
Starting preseason finale
Allen will start under center in Saturday's preseason finale versus the Packers.
ANALYSIS
According to head coach Sean McDermott, the starters' action could range from as little as one play to a little more than a half. It's unclear where Allen falls in that spectrum, but it does mark his first action of the preseason, so it's possible the staff wants him to get a little tune-up in before the regular season. Mitchell Trubisky figures to take over under center whenever Allen's day is done.

Placed on COVID-19 list
The Jaguars placed Allen (undisclosed) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
ANALYSIS
Allen won't be eligible to suit up for Monday's preseason matchup against the Saints as a result of his placement on the COVID list. His next chance to play will come Aug. 29 against the Cowboys. The 2019 first-round pick was limited to just eight appearances last season due to a knee injury.
Aug 19, 2021
Won't play this weekend
Allen won't play in Saturday's preseason game against Chicago, Matt Parrino of syracuse.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sean McDermott mentioned only Allen and WR Stefon Diggs (knee) by name, but other key players will also be held out, with the Bills coach saying he'll rest most of the core players who have been with the team for a few years, per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com. McDermott wouldn't commit to Allen playing or not playing in the team's third and final preseason game next week, per Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic.
Aug 11, 2021
Won't start Friday night
Allen won't play in Friday's preseason game against the Lions, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen recently signed a six-year, $258 million extension, the second-largest contract in NFL history. His absence Friday night leaves more playing time for Mitchell Trubisky, Jake Fromm and Davis Webb, while Allen could make an appearance -- likely a brief one -- in the second or third week of the preseason.
Aug 6, 2021
In for the long haul
The Bills have signed Allen to a six-year contract extension through the 2028 season.
ANALYSIS
Losing Allen was never really going to be an option, but the team also didn't want to have the franchise quarterback in limbo and no one was going to negotiate if the season got started and Allen didn't have an extension. Now that this is out of the way, Allen can continue to focus on getting the Bills over the hump following last season's AFC Championship Game appearance. He'll be one of the first three quarterbacks off the board in almost any fantasy format.

Healthy heading into third season
Allen (knee) will be healthy for the season opener against Houston on Sept. 12, Cole Pepper of News 4 Jacksonville reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen missed eight games during the 2020 season, including the final six contests, due to a knee injury. He finished with 2.5 sacks after notching 10.during his rookie campaign. The Jaguars produced just 18 sacks last season, and they're counting on Allen to provide a boost to the pass rush now that he's fully healthy. With offseason additions of free-agent CB Shaquill Griffin and rookie second-round pick CB Tyson Campbell, the secondary could provide some more time for Allen to get to the quarterback in 2021.
May 3, 2021
Fifth-year option picked up
The Bills exercised the fifth-year option on Allen's rookie contract Monday, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reports.
ANALYSIS
No surprise here, as Allen has gone from raw prospect to star quarterback over the course of three seasons. His completion percentage, passing yardage and touchdown totals have all improved by leaps and bounds with every season, and the 2018 seventh overall pick is coming off a stellar 2020 campaign in which he completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 4,544 yards and a 37:10 TD:INT. Allen's scheduled to play the fourth year of his rookie contract in 2021, with the fifth-year option covering the 2022 season.
Jan 24, 2021
Reverts to old form
Allen completed 28 of 48 pass attempts for 287 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while rushing for 88 yards on seven carries in Sunday's AFC Championship loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Allen made one of the greatest one-year leaps in progression we've ever witnessed from his sophomore to junior campaign. The rising star improved his completion percentage 10 points (59 to 69 percent) while posting MVP-level passing numbers in 2020, but the quarterback we saw on the field Sunday was closer to the inferior 2018/2019 versions. Allen was under duress in the pocket and forced some inaccurate throws when he wasn't straight up getting sacked (four sacks for a combined loss of 53 yards). The 24-year-old tried to get the offense going with his legs, as his 88 rushing yards represented a new season high. The Bills were outclassed by the Chiefs on both sides of the ball, and that all shouldn't fall on just the quarterback, but Allen certainly didn't perform up to the gaudy expectations he set after a tremendous overall season. How the young gunslinger responds to the sting of bitter defeat will ultimately determine which direction his development moves in his fourth year as a pro, but Buffalo fans and

Gets Bills to AFC Championship Game
Allen completed 23 of 37 attempts for 206 yards and a passing touchdown, adding seven rushes for three yards during Saturday's 17-3 divisional-round win against the Ravens. He fumbled once, but teammate Dion Dawkins recovered the loose ball.
ANALYSIS
Allen's Bills entered the contest at a perfect 6-0 record since Week 13, with the third-year signal-caller compiling 20 total TDs and an NFL-best 1,840 passing yards during that span. Buffalo came out firing through the air with pass attempts on 19 of the team's first 20 plays from scrimmage, but Allen's output in passing yardage provided the MVP candidate with his fourth-lowest total of the 2020 campaign. Heroic statistical contributions weren't required, as Baltimore struggled to score throughout the night. A head injury to Lamar Jackson on the final play of the third quarter further stifled the Ravens' attack. In what will either be a home game against the Browns or a road trip to take on the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, Allen has an opportunity to push Buffalo to its first Super Bowl appearance since 1994.

Three totals TDs in first playoff W
Allen completed 26 of 35 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns while adding 54 yards and a touchdown on 11 rushing attempts in Saturday's 27-24 wild-card round win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Allen showcased his creativity and improved decision-making on a three-yard touchdown pass to Dawson Knox late in the first quarter, flipping the ball to the tight end when he saw Knox wide open in the end zone on a play that was designed to be a quarterback draw. He then gave the Bills a 14-10 lead just before halftime with a five-yard touchdown run to cap a controversial drive that included a pair of sideline catches by Gabriel Davis that were both ruled in bounds to account for 56 yards, followed by an interception called back on a penalty and another would-be interception overturned on replay. Allen added a 35-yard touchdown pass to favorite target Stefon Diggs to take a 24-10 lead early in the fourth quarter, and though Buffalo's offense largely stalled after that, Indianapolis' comeback bid came up short. With his first career playoff win in the books, Allen will have another home playoff game in the AFC divisional round next week.
Jan 3, 2021
Finishes with 45 total TDs
Allen completed 18 of 25 passes for 244 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 56-26 win over the Dolphins. He also rushed twice for three yards and was replaced by Matt Barkley at halftime to keep Allen healthy for the postseason.
ANALYSIS
Allen was intercepted on the opening drive but responded with a pair of second-quarter touchdown passes to Isaiah McKenzie and another to John Brown to help the Bills take a 28-6 lead into halftime. With Buffalo feeling comfortable about its chances of securing the No. 2 seed in the AFC, Allen got the rest of the afternoon off. The 2018 first-round pick made a third-year leap in 2020, throwing for 4,564 yards and a 37:10 TD:INT to go with 421 yards and eight touchdowns on 102 rushing attempts to lead Buffalo to a 13-3 record.
Jan 3, 2021
Active for Week 17
Although the Bills have listed several starters as inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Allen is not among them and will presumably start against Miami.
ANALYSIS
Allen's favorite teammate Stefon Diggs is also suiting up, but some of the key inactives such as Tre'Davious White, Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison should provide a clue as to how the Bills are viewing this game, which can only dictate whether they'll be the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the AFC, and even the latter would require a Pittsburgh win. It's impossible to predict how some of these Week 17 games will go, but the best guess would seem to be that Allen and the main active guys will stay out there long enough to stay polished for next week's playoff game. while perhaps coach Sean McDermott will leave them in long enough to continue setting some franchise records before calling it a day. On top of it all, the weather is not supposed to be great in Buffalo on Sunday.
Jan 1, 2021
Rest candidate for Week 17
Allen may be a candidate to receive rest in Sunday's game against the Dolphins, if the Bills don't make him a healthy inactive for the contest, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bills head into the regular-season finale in the driver's seat for the AFC's No. 2 seed, but they would drop to third in the conference standings with a loss and a Steelers win over the Browns, which may then result in Buffalo losing out on a potential home game in the divisional round. While that gives the Bills at least some incentive to put out their best squad Week 17, head coach Sean McDermott could look to manage the workloads of key players like Allen carefully, with an eye on ensuring the team heads into the postseason in optimal health. According to Chris Brown of the Bills' official site, McDermott said earlier in the week that he has a plan in place for how key players will be used against Miami, but he's choosing to keep it internal. With that in mind, Allen could be a risky fantasy option even if he avoids the inactive list and draws the start, as there's a real possibility he may only play a series or two before turning the offense over to backup Matt Barkley.
Dec 28, 2020
Picks Patriots apart
Allen completed 27 of 36 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns in Monday night's 38-9 win over the Patriots. He also rushed four times for 35 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allen turned in another dazzling display while only playing a few downs into the fourth quarter. The star signal-caller connected with top target Stefon Diggs on three of his touchdowns, including a 50-yarder that broke the game open prior to halftime. With four scores total, Allen set a new Bills franchise record with 34 passing touchdowns on the season, and topped 300 yards through the air for the eighth time this term as well. Overall, it was an additional outstanding showing for Allen in his tremendous third season, which he'll now aim to close out strong in Week 17 versus the Dolphins.
Dec 24, 2020
Dinged up, ready for action
Allen (knee/ankle) was listed as a full participant on Thursday's practice report.
ANALYSIS
The translation is the running quarterback took some hits in Saturday's win over the Broncos, but he'll be perfectly fine for Week 16 action, especially with an extra day to rest his bumps and bruises with the Bills having yet another prime time game Monday against the rival Patriots.
Dec 19, 2020
Clinches division with dominant day
Allen completed 28 of 40 pass attempts for 359 yards and two touchdowns, adding three rushes for 33 yards and two rushing scores during Saturday's 48-19 win against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old was already enjoying an all-time Bills season coming into Week 15, sitting atop the franchise record books with 35 offensive TDs (28 passing, six rushing and one receiving). With a dominant effort against Denver's injury-depleted secondary, Allen posted his third consecutive outing of two or more passing TDs as Buffalo clinched its first division title since 1995. Notching his first performance of the season with multiple rushing scores, Allen now has 12 games with both a pass and rush TD since the start of 2019 (NFL high). He also joined Cam Newton as the only quarterbacks in NFL history with 30-plus pass TDs and eight or more rushing scores in a single season. A Week 16 matchup against New England will be challenging with Allen having an opportunity to build on his MVP bid. Allen has never exceeded a 62 percent completion rate over four games against New England, posting a career 3:6 TD:INT ratio.
Dec 14, 2020
Carries team to gritty victory
Allen completed 24 of 43 pass attempts for 238 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while adding 28 rushing yards on six carries in Sunday's 26-15 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
The Steelers wanted to test Allen's gumption by blitzing the signal caller early and often Sunday. The upstart quarterback was forced into some poor throws (which have been few and far between this season), but he was able to overcome the pressure and make plays when it mattered (7-for-14 on third down plays) and secure victory over another AFC contender. Statistically it was one of Allen's lesser performances this year, as he was completing 70.4 percent of his passes while averaging a 283.6 yards and a shade under three combined touchdowns per game prior to Sunday's slow grinding victory. Next week's opponent, the Denver Broncos, also boast a tough pass defense, but they are not as aggressive in terms of blitzing the opposing quarterback (29.0 percent) compared to the Steelers (40.2 percent).
Dec 7, 2020
Shines in primetime win
Allen completed 32 of 40 passes for 375 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions in the Bills' 34-24 win over the 49ers on Monday night. He also rushed six times for 11 yards and committed two fumbles, losing one.
ANALYSIS
Coming off his third sub-200-yard passing effort of the season in Week 12 against the Chargers, Allen shredded a 49ers defense that had just gotten Richard Sherman back from injured reserve a week earlier and had done an above-average job limiting opponents through the air. Allen began his scoring barrage with a five-yard touchdown pass to Cole Beasley to erase an early second-quarter deficit, and he'd go on to add scoring tosses of four, 23 and 28 yards to the eclectic trio of Dawson Knox, Isaiah McKenzie and Gabriel Davis, respectively. The third-year signal-caller did commit his 14th turnover of the season with a lost fumble on a mishandled handoff on his own three-yard line late in the first quarter, directly leading to the 49ers' first touchdown. However, the 24-year-old otherwise thrilled fantasy managers with his second-highest passing yardage total of the season and first interception-free performance in three games. He'll look to continue his stellar season while facing the formidable challenge of th

TDs as passer, runner in win
Allen completed 18 of 24 passes for 157 yards, a touchdown and an interception in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Chargers. He added 32 yards and a touchdown on nine carries while also losing a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Allen found a wide open Dawson Knox in the back of the end zone for a two-yard touchdown in the first quarter and later watched Cole Beasley throw a 20-yard touchdown on a trick play en route to a 17-6 halftime lead. The mobile quarterback briefly exited the game in the second quarter after having his leg twisted awkwardly but returned for the final play of the first half. He didn't look limited by the injury on Buffalo's first drive after halftime, diving for the pylon to score on a three-yard run. All told, Allen has a 22:8 TD:INT to go with six rushing scores heading into a Week 13 Monday Night Football clash with the 49ers.
Nov 24, 2020
Moves to injured reserve
Allen (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Coach Doug Marrone said Monday that the 23-year-old will miss "considerable time" after suffering the knee injury, so it's no surprise to see him shift to injured reserve. Allen will be eligible to return for the Dec. 20 matchup with Baltimore, but he may require additional time to recover from the injury. Rookie K'Lavon Chaisson is primed to step into the starting role in his absence.
Nov 23, 2020
Will miss extended time
Coach Doug Marrone said Monday that Allen avoided ligament damage in his knee but will miss "considerable time," John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Marrone didn't elaborate on the nature of Allen's injury, but he made it sounds like an IR stint could be in the works. The Jaguars won't rush their star defensive end back with the playoffs out of reach, so rookie K'Lavon Chaisson figures to get an extended look as a starting defensive end.
Nov 23, 2020
Encouraging injury news
The Jaguars believe Allen avoided a serious knee injury, but he'll have further tests Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is still expected to miss some game time, but he may avoid an IR stint and return after just a couple of weeks. The 2019 first-round pick is enduring a bit of a sophomore slump with just 2.5 sacks through eight games after racking up 10.5 through 16 games last season. If tests reveal that he indeed will be required to miss games, K'Lavon Chaisson is expected to start at defensive end.
Nov 22, 2020
Knee injury ends day
Allen (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's matchup against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Allen was initially pegged doubtful upon sustaining his knee injury at the 8:52 mark of the third quarter, but he was subsequently downgraded to out. With Jacksonville trailing 17-3 entering the fourth quarter, rookie K'Lavon Chaisson will be counted on in a more integral pass-rush role for the remainder of the contest.
Nov 15, 2020
Accounts for three TDs in loss
Allen completed 32 of 49 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions in Sunday's 32-30 loss to the Cardinals. He also rushed for 38 yards on seven carries, and caught a 12-yard TD pass from Isaiah McKenzie.
ANALYSIS
It was another big performance for the third-year QB, as Allen led the Bills in rushing in addition to being involved in all three of the team's TDs on the afternoon. He's thrown multiple touchdowns passes in eight of 10 games this season, leading to a 21:7 TD:INT, and he's also produced six other scores (five rushing, one receiving) as Buffalo heads into its bye week.
Nov 8, 2020
Lights up Seahawks for four TDs
Allen completed 31 of 38 pass attempts for 415 yards and three touchdowns while gaining 14 yards and a touchdown on seven carries during Sunday's 44-34 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
The sometimes-inaccurate Allen posted a sterling completion rate of 82 percent and averaged a healthy 10.9 yards per attempt. He managed three touchdown passes after going two games without one and added his fifth rushing score of the season to round out an excellent line. Allen seems to be back on track after struggling for a couple of games and will look to add to his numbers in what could be a high-scoring game against the Cardinals next Sunday.
Nov 1, 2020
Rushing TD covers for poor passing
Allen completed 11 of 18 passes for 154 yards and an interception while rushing 10 times for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Allen was held without a passing touchdown for the second week in a row, but he scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the season from two yards out to put his team up 21-14 early in the fourth quarter. With wide receiver John Brown (knee) playing at less than 100 percent, Buffalo's passing game has taken a major step back after a hot start despite continued production from Stefon Diggs (six catches for 92 yards). Despite his recent struggles through the air, Allen's rushing production keeps him near the upper echelon of fantasy quarterback options, and he gets a great opportunity to find his mojo as a passer with the struggling Seahawks secondary coming to town in Week 9.
Oct 25, 2020
Piles up yardage but no TDs
Allen completed 30 of 43 passes for 307 yards in Sunday's 18-10 win over the Jets. He added 11 carries for 61 yards and lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Allen found sledding surprisingly tough against the winless Jets, failing to find the end zone after tossing multiple touchdowns in each of his first six games. He lost a costly fumble on 3rd-and-goal down 3-0 in the second quarter, but Allen had no problem moving the ball into field-goal range throughout the contest, as kicker Tyler Bass converted six field goals and missed another two. Allen also led the Bills in both carries and rushing yards, setting a new season high in the latter category. He'll hope to get injured No. 2 receiver John Brown (knee) back when the Patriots come to town in Week 8.
Oct 23, 2020
Cleared for Week 7
Allen (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Allen practiced in full Friday, confirming coach Doug Marrone's claim that the 2019 first-rounder is on track to suit up Sunday. He'll make his return after a two-game absence and look to build on his season total of two sacks.
Oct 19, 2020
Falls for second straight week
Allen completed 14 of 27 passes for 122 yards and two TD passes with one interception during Monday's loss to the Chiefs. He added eight rushes for 42 yards.
ANALYSIS
The two TDs and the rushing yards made this a palatable performance from a fantasy perspective, but it was a rough outing for the second straight prime-time week for Allen and the Bills, who fall to 4-2. The third-year quarterback has put up his two worst performances of the season in these two games after being the fantasy darling for Weeks 1-4. While Allen still has enough flaws in his game that there will be occasional tough sledding in matchups against championship-level teams like the Chiefs and Titans, he's also improved his game by miles since his rookie season and remains a top-10 fantasy QB. Things get much easier in Week 7 with Allen and the Bills traveling to face the Jets.
Oct 19, 2020
On track for Week 7
Coach Doug Marrone relayed Monday that Allen (knee) is on track to play Sunday versus the Chargers, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen has missed two games but looks set on returning to action Week 7. The second-year defensive end recorded seven tackles and two sacks through the first four contests, and rookie K'Lavon Chaisson has filled in while Allen has been sidelined. While Marrone is optimistic, we'll have a better idea of Allen's progress when practices start up Wednesday.
Oct 18, 2020
Inactive against Detroit
Allen (knee) won't suit up in Sunday's game against Detroit, Michael DiRocco of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen drew a questionable tag this week after only suiting up in practice on a limited basis. It will be the second straight game missed for the Kentucky product, who has two sacks this campaign already. In his stead, look for rookie K'Lavon Chaisson to take on an increased role for Week 6.
Oct 16, 2020
Draws questionable tag
Allen (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen wasn't able to suit up against the Texans last week, the first missed game of his career, but it looks as though the star defensive end has a fair shot to retake the field versus Detroit. The 2019 first-round pick has two sacks through four appearances this season.
Oct 14, 2020
Able to practice on limited basis
Allen (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Allen's knee injury kept him out of game action for the first time in his career last week against the Texans, but the pass rusher has taken a step in the right direction after being unable to practice in the lead-up to last week's absence. Consider Allen more likely than not to suit up Sunday against the Lions, but it's best to monitor his practice participation as the week unfolds to be sure.
Oct 13, 2020
Loses unblemished record
Allen completed 26 of 41 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions during Tuesday's loss to the Titans. He also rushed four times for 18 yards.
ANALYSIS
The fantasy stats aren't terrible, but this just wasn't the Bills' night in an ugly 42-16 loss, with Allen misfiring several times and getting a bad bounce on one of the two picks. His 77.6 rating is by far his worst of the season and he tripled his 2020 interception total on one night. On the bright side, Allen has almost thrown for two-plus touchdowns all five games this season and has 14 TD passes on the campaign. He and the Bills will get a chance to bounce back in another primetime game Monday against the Chiefs.
Oct 12, 2020
Tuesday's game still on track
Allen and the Bills remain on track to meet the Titans on Tuesday after the latest round of COVID-19 testing turned up no new positives among Tennessee's players or coaches, according to several media reports.
ANALYSIS
Things are not in the clear yet, however, as both teams still have to go through more testing with no setbacks. In a strange state of the times, if you've rolled the dice on Allen thus far you've essentially made a bold bet that the game would go on as planned -- or taking it even further, that the last few rounds of COVID-19 testing would come back clean, with your last bailout being a late pivot to Drew Brees or Justin Herbert. On the bright side, Tuesday's Bills-Titans now seems like a decent possibility at this stage given the most recent testing results.
Oct 11, 2020
Week 5 game still on
Tuesday's scheduled contest between Allen and the Bills and the Titans is in line to proceed as planned, barring further developments, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
That said, the status of the slated 7:00 ET kickoff should still be monitored by fantasy managers, with Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com noting that "another positive (COVID-19 test Monday) would likely throw things into limbo." In addition to having their Week 5 game moved to Tuesday, the Bills' Week 6 tilt against the Chiefs has been moved from this coming Thursday to Monday, Oct. 19.
Oct 10, 2020
Downgrades to out for Sunday
Allen (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Allen will miss his first game since being selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The Kentucky product has been solid this season with two sacks through four games, and he'll miss out on an appealing matchup against Deshaun Watson, who has been sacked 16 times this year. Rookie defensive end K'Lavon Chaisson is expected to start in Allen's place Sunday.
Oct 8, 2020
Game moved to Tuesday
Allen and the Bills are now scheduled to face the Titans on Tuesday instead of Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The game will only be played this week if there are no more positive tests among the Titans, who have still yet to open up their practice facility following numerous positive COVID-19 tests. As for Allen, at least managers still have a chance of being able to use him this week, though the game being played in Week 5 is still far from a certainty. Still, we should have a better idea of the likelihood of that happening by the time the first wave of games kicks off Sunday, pending the next few days of test results.
Oct 7, 2020
Full participant
Allen (left shoulder) was able to practice fully Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
This is the final confirmation that Allen didn't significantly injure his non-throwing shoulder during Sunday's win over Las Vegas, bad as it initially looked. He'll resume his starting role Sunday in Tennessee, though the status of the game itself remains up in the air while the Titans work through COVID-19 issues.
Oct 7, 2020
Knee injury pops up
Allen (knee) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
This is the first we're hearing of a knee injury for Allen, though he missed a Wednesday practice earlier in the season with a calf injury and didn't wind up on the final injury report that week. Allen's practice participation should be monitored ahead of Sunday's clash with the Texans, as he's a key piece on the Jacksonville defense with two sacks and seven quarterback hits through four games.
Oct 6, 2020
Shoulder injury minor
Coach McDermott said Monday of Allen's injured left shoulder that, "Josh is in pretty good shape, as of this morning," Dante Lasting of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Although Allen didn't miss any plays, he landed on the shoulder awkwardly in the win over Las Vegas and had to go to the locker room for evaluation, likely while Bills Nation collectively held its breath. We'd be surprised if Allen misses any time since the injury is now officially not a severe one and it's to his non-throwing arm. The third-year quarterback has been nothing short of excellent this season with 12 TD passes and three rushing scores to go with one interception, though the shoulder could potentially limit him in practice this week. It's also worth noting that Buffalo's Week 5 opponent -- the Titans -- still has to work through a COVID-19 flare-up before the game can go off as scheduled in the early wave Sunday.
Oct 5, 2020
Totals three TDs in victory
Allen completed 24 of 34 pass attempts for 288 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Raiders. He also carried three times for -1 yard and a touchdown in the 30-23 win.
ANALYSIS
Allen completed 71 percent of his passes while averaging a healthy 8.5 yards per attempt. He completed touchdown passes to Gabriel Davis and Cole Beasley in the first half while adding a one-yard touchdown plunge of his own in the fourth quarter. Allen has been nothing short of excellent through four games, totaling 15 touchdowns compared to one interception. He'll look to continue his hot start in another favorable matchup next Sunday against the Titans.
Oct 4, 2020
Tallies another sack
Allen had two tackles and a sack during Sunday's 33-25 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
The 2019 first-round pick didn't record a sack through the first two games of the season, but he now has sacks in back-to-back contests. Allen has only seven total tackles, so he'll need to be more involved beyond the pass rush to be a viable IDP option.
Sep 27, 2020
Accounts for five TDs in wild win
Allen completed 24 of 33 passes for 311 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 35-32 win over the Rams. He also rushed four times for eight yards and a touchdown, in addition to losing a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Allen found Lee Smith for a one-yard touchdown on fourth down to open the scoring, then took it himself from one yard out on the next drive before adding a three-yard score to Tyler Kroft to take a 21-3 lead into the locker room at halftime. He hit Stefon Diggs for a four-yard touchdown to take a seemingly insurmountable 28-3 lead in the third quarter, but Los Angeles scored the next 29 points before Allen led a late touchdown drive capped by another three-yard touchdown to Kroft. All told, Allen has led the Bills to a 3-0 record with 12 total touchdowns compared to four turnovers heading into a Week 4 trip to Las Vegas.

First sack of 2020
Allen had two solo tackles and one sack during Thursday's 31-13 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Allen had already accounted for three quarterback hits on the year heading into Thursday's contest, and he managed to chase down Ryan Fitzpatrick in the second half for his first official sack of the season. The second-year pro doesn't have much help in Jacksonville's pass rush, so he may have difficulties matching last year's 10.5 sack total, but he's got a favorable matchup in Cincinnati on deck for Week 4.

Spectacular in Week 2 win
Allen completed 24 of 35 passes for 417 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bills' 31-28 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. He also rushed four times for 18 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allen ended up having to do plenty in a game that the Bills were fairly solid favorites in, averaging 11.9 yards per attempt while connecting with eight different pass catchers on the afternoon. The third-year signal caller hit the eclectic quartet of Stefon Diggs, John Brown, Gabriel Davis and Reggie Gilliam for his scoring throws, the final one a 46-yarder to Brown to give Buffalo critical separation with 3:09 remaining. Perhaps almost as encouraging for the Bills' coaching staff was Allen's mistake-free effort, which helped bring about an outstanding 147.0 rating for the afternoon. Allen also averaged a whopping 11.9 yards per attempt, partly the byproduct of his burgeoning connection with prize offseason arrival Stefon Diggs, whom he targeted a team-high 13 times on the way to an 8-153-1 day for the wideout. Allen will look to build on this landmark effort when the Bills battle the Los Angeles Rams in a Week 3 home matchup.

Ready for Week 2
Allen (calf) does not have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Tennessee, Paul Kuharsky of 104.5 The Zone Nashville reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen logged a 'DNP/LP/FP' practice slate this week, and it looks as though he's fully recovered from the calf cramps that caused him to leave the season opener against Indianapolis early. The second-year pro should handle a full workload on Sunday, making him a viable option in IDP formats.

Sidelined Wednesday
Allen (calf) did not practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was forced to exit Sunday's win against the Colts due to calf cramps, but coach Doug Marrone said he expects the second-year pro to return to practice Thursday. If Allen is indeed able to resume handling practice reps without much delay, he'll be trending in the right direction to suit up against Tennessee in Week 2.

Recovering from calf cramps
Allen is expected to sit out Wednesday's practice due to a calf issue, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was removed in the second half of Jacksonville's Week 1 win over the Colts after experiencing some calf cramping. Before leaving, the second-year edge rusher totaled two tackles (one solo) over 46 defensive snaps. Coach Doug Marrone downplayed the calf concern, saying that he expects Allen to return to practice Thursday. Assuming that's the case, Allen should be in good shape to handle a full workload in Sunday's game at Tennessee.

Over 300 yards for first time
Allen completed 33 of 46 passes for a career-high 312 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Jets. He also rushed 14 times for 57 yards and a touchdown while losing two fumbles.
ANALYSIS
Allen consistently kept passing plays alive with his escapability and topped 300 passing yards for the first time in his career while also providing most of Buffalo's rushing production himself. He bounced back beautifully after fumbling on the Bills' first drive, leading his team into the end zone on each of the next three possessions thanks to a two-yard rushing score followed by a four-yard touchdown pass to Zack Moss and a 15-yard score to John Brown. Allen was on his way to a fourth consecutive scoring drive but lost his second fumble with less than two minutes left before halftime. While he still struggles with turnovers, that flaw is overshadowed by Allen's tremendous rushing production from the quarterback position, and he appears to be taking the next step as a passer heading into a Week 2 meeting with the Dolphins.

Back to work Monday
Allen took part in practice Monday after missing Sunday's session due to a false positive COVID-19 test, Jourdan LaBarber of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Several Bills got burned by the false positive test, and while the Bills' quarterback wasn't super pleased with the development, he was able to move on quickly with the rest of his teammates. Bills coach Sean McDermott later stated that this was a good dry run for the team in terms of surprises that may happen in an unusual NFL year.

False positive for COVID-19
Allen will miss practice Sunday after receiving a false positive COVID-19 test result, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Several Bills fell into the false positive bucket and will get a day off from workouts, but Schefter's report says all is well and the players should be back to practice shortly after passing through the proper protocols. For Allen, that should mean Monday.

Beefed up for 2020
Allen has looked noticeably bigger and stronger in the upper body in recent videos posted by his quarterbacks coach, Jordan Palmer, The Buffalo News reports. Said Palmer, " "It's muscle. He's in crazy shape and spinning it great."
ANALYSIS
Allen has always been a physical specimen, which has helped make up for some of his longstanding accuracy issues, but the reports show he looks even more chiseled even though the quarterback says he's only gained three pounds this offseason. The Bills have actually gone on record saying they'd prefer their franchise QB runs less going forward, but the bottom line is he's a handful to bring down and you'll get a bonus in rushing yards and even goal-line carries if you use him. Allen is not without his flaws and there's a pretty good debate as to whether he stacks up with other top young starters around the league, but if you're on the "pro" side of the argument, this is probably a good season to get ahead of the curve. He posted a 20:9 TD:INT ratio last season, perhaps not great, but when you add in his 510 rushing yards and nine TDs on the ground to go with a six percent increase in completion percentage (59 vs. 53 in his rookie season), it's easy to see that things are starting to click. Primed for starting role
Allen (shoulder) is poised to start at defensive end in 2020 following the departure of Calais Campbell, Hays Carlyon of 1010 AM WJXL Jacksonville reports.
ANALYSIS
Campbell has been the heart and soul of the defense since joining Jacksonville in 2017, but Allen is set to take over that role after the veteran was traded to the Ravens. Allen played in all 16 games and had four starts as a rookie, and he recorded 44 total tackles and 10.5 sacks despite mostly working in a rotational role. The 22-year-old was nursing a shoulder injury at the end of the regular season, but he was able to play in the Pro Bowl and tally one sack.

New weapon joins fray
Allen picked up a dangerous new target Monday when the Bills acquired Stefon Diggs from the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Allen and the Bills continue to trend up following a playoff season where the quarterback threw for 3,089 yards and 20 touchdowns while running for 510 yards and nine scores. Diggs and John Brown should work as some sort of 1A/1B combo, while Cole Beasley remains one of the more effective slot guys in the league. Add a potential pass-catching feature back in Devin Singletary to the mix along with a tight end with decent upside in Dawson Knox, and Allen should have plenty of weapons to continue improving his numbers as he gains more experience.
