Makes most of looks with two TDs
Oliver caught both of his targets for 24 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-0 victory over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Oliver came into Sunday with one or zero targets in nine of his 10 games this season, so the fact that he got two balls thrown his way was out of the ordinary in itself. Not only did Oliver catch both of those targets, he scored on each one, reeling in an 18-yard TD in the first quarter and a six-yard score in the third. On the season, four of Oliver's nine catches have gone for a TD, making him about as extreme of a TD-dependent fantasy option as it gets.

Returning from two-game absence
Oliver (foot) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Bears, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver logged a full practice Friday, and his lack of an injury tag means he will return Sunday from a two-game absence due to a foot injury. He'll slot back into the TE2 spot behind T.J. Hockenson, which means less snaps on offense will be available for Ben Yurosek and Ben Sims. Oliver has caught five passes (on seven targets) for 61 yards and two touchdowns across seven regular-season games.
Nov 13, 2025
Limited again Thursday
Oliver (foot) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Oliver was unable to practice over the past two weeks due to a foot injury, and a second consecutive limited practice Thursday indicates that he is progressing well in his recovery. A third limited practice or an upgrade to full participation Friday would bode well for Oliver's availability in Sunday's divisional clash with the Bears.
Nov 12, 2025
Returns to practice
Oliver (foot) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
A foot injury prevented Oliver from practicing over the past two weeks and caused him to be sidelined for Weeks 9 and 10. His ability to practice in at least a limited capacity indicates that he is progressing in his recover, and head coach Kevin O'Connell relayed to reporters Monday that he expects Oliver to be available for Sunday's NFC North clash against the Bears, per Alec Lewis of The Athletic. Oliver's return would mean less rotational snaps at tight end would be available for Ben Yurosek and Ben Sims.
Nov 10, 2025
Expected to play Week 11
Coach Kevin O'Connell said Monday that he expects Oliver (foot) to return to practice this week and play Sunday against the Bears, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver missed the previous two games with a sprained foot but is closing in on a return to action. The veteran tight end is mainly used as a blocker by the Vikings, as he's only secured five catches for 61 yards and two touchdowns this season.
Nov 7, 2025
Ruled out
Oliver (foot) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Oliver will miss a second consecutive week due to the foot sprain he suffered in Week 8 against the Chargers. The loss of the backup tight end will likely mean more snaps for Ben Yurosek again, who has logged 32 offensive snaps in the past two games since Oliver suffered his injury.
Nov 5, 2025
Still not practicing Wednesday
Oliver (foot) did not participate at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Oliver was forced to miss Sunday's game at Detroit because of a foot sprain he suffered in Week 8 against the Chargers, and now his status for Week 10 is in question too. He'll probably need to practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday to have a chance to play Sunday versus the Ravens.
Nov 3, 2025
Nearing return?
Head coach Kevin O'Connell told reporters Monday that Oliver (foot) will work off to the side at practice this week, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver was sidelined for the Week 9 win over the Lions after spraining his foot the game prior, but it now appears he's returning to practice this week. The San Jose State product has caught five of seven targets for 61 yards and two touchdowns through seven contests this season. His practice participation during this week will likely offer the best indication of whether he can return for the Week 10 matchup against the Ravens.
Oct 31, 2025
Ruled out for Week 9
Oliver (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Oliver sustained a sprained foot in last Thursday night's loss to the Chargers and will miss his first game of the season. The blocking specialist has recorded five catches for 61 yards and two touchdowns on the year. Ben Yurosek and Ben Sims will be candidates to see increased reps behind T.J. Hockenson.
Oct 30, 2025
Doesn't practice Thursday
Oliver (foot) did not participate in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Oliver sprained his foot during the Vikings' Week 8 loss to the Chargers, and Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reported Wednesday that the veteran tight end is unlikely to play against the Lions on Sunday. Ben Yurosek would be the Vikings' backup tight end behind T.J. Hockenson if Oliver is indeed ruled out Week 9 while Ben Sims -- who Minnesota claimed off waivers from Green Bay on Monday -- serves as the TE3.
Oct 29, 2025
Likely out with foot sprain
Head coach Kevin O'Connell told reporters Wednesday that Oliver will likely be sidelined for Sunday's matchup against the Lions due to a foot sprain, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old was feared to have sustained a long-term injury in Minnesota's Week 8 loss to the Chargers, but X-rays confirmed the issue to be a foot sprain. Although Oliver is expected to miss the Week 9 contest in Detroit, he could return for the Week 10 matchup against the Ravens. While he's likely sidelined Sunday, expect Ben Yurosek to operate the Vikings' No. 2 tight end.
Oct 23, 2025
Out for game
Oliver (foot) has been ruled out for the rest of Thursday night's contest against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Oliver will remain sidelined for the remainder of Thursday Night Football. The tight end sustained a foot injury early in the contest, and Ben Yurosek will continue to operate in a more substantial role with Oliver unavailable.
Oct 23, 2025
Questionable to return to TNF
Oliver (foot) is questionable to return to Thursday night's contest against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Oliver suffered a foot injury in the first half, leaving his status for the rest of the game to be uncertain. In his absence, Ben Yurosek stands to see an increase in workload at tight end behind starter T.J. Hockenson.
Oct 6, 2025
Catches TD on trick play
Oliver had two receptions for 35 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown, on three targets in Sunday's win over Cleveland in London.
ANALYSIS
Oliver's touchdown came on trick play from Cam Akers in the wildcat formation. Oliver has just four receptions and six targets in five games this season. He's almost exclusively a blocking tight end but can get the occasional touchdown (two this season).
Sep 22, 2025
Catches TD in win
Oliver had one reception on his only target for a 12-yard touchdown in Sunday's win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Oliver has just two receptions and two targets in three games this season. He's almost exclusively a blocking tight end, but can get the occasional touchdown (seven total in his prior three seasons).
Sep 19, 2025
Good to go for Week 3
Oliver (ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Bengals, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday but upgraded to full Friday and is good to go for Week 3. Oliver has one catch for five yards on 41 offensive snaps through two games.
Sep 17, 2025
Limited to open week
Oliver (ankle) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Oliver was able to play through an ankle injury in the team's 22-6 Week 2 loss to the Falcons, so his ability to practice in any capacity Wednesday seems to suggest he'll be good to go for Week 3. The tight end will have two more chances to be a full participant at practice before Sunday's contest against the Bengals.
Sep 12, 2025
Cleared to play Sunday
Oliver (ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday night's game against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Mainly a blocking specialist for the Vikings, Oliver played 48 percent of the offensive snaps in last Monday night's win over the Bears and caught his lone target for five yards.
Sep 11, 2025
Doesn't practice Thursday
Oliver (ankle) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Oliver also sat out Wednesday's walkthrough due to an ankle injury, so he has just one more chance to prove his health Friday ahead of Sunday's contest against the Falcons. If Oliver is inhibited or sidelined this weekend, Benjamin Yurosek and Nick Vannett would be candidates for elevated workloads behind the Vikings' top TE T.J. Hockenson.
Sep 10, 2025
Dealing with ankle issue
Oliver was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate due to an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Oliver was the reserve TE to receive the largest workload behind No. 1 option T.J. Hockenson (45 of 56 offensive snaps) during Monday's win at Chicago, earning 27 snaps to undrafted rookie Benjamin Yurosek's 10. Overall, Oliver started, hauled in his only target for five yards and also was stopped shy of the goal line on a two-point conversion at the start of the fourth quarter. With a DNP under his belt Wednesday, he likely will need to practice in some capacity Thursday and/or Friday to put himself in a position to play Sunday against the Falcons.
Sep 10, 2025
One reception in season opener
Oliver had one reception for five yards on his lone target in Monday's win over Chicago
ANALYSIS
Oliver is one of the league's better run-blocking tight ends, but he won't get many targets as long as T.J. Hockenson is healthy. He went out for a pass on just seven of his 27 snaps on offense. His only target was at the goal line where he was stopped just short of scoring a touchdown, which shows he can get the occasional touchdown (seven total in last three seasons).
Jun 10, 2025
Signs three-year extension
The Vikings signed Oliver to a three-year, $23.25 million contract on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver is one of the league's better run-blocking tight ends and he filled in capably as a pass-catcher at times in 2024 for T.J. Hockenson, who didn't make his debut until Week 9. With Hockenson now fully recovered from the ACL tear he sustained in 2023, Oliver remains positioned to handle a familiar blocking role integral Minnesota's overall offense, but not in a way that translates to notable fantasy value.
Jan 23, 2025
Career-best numbers in 2024
Oliver finished the 2024 regular season with 22 catches for 258 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games.
ANALYSIS
Oliver set career highs in receiving yards and touchdowns while matching his career-best 2023 totals exactly in targets and receptions. He caught his only target for five yards in Minnesota's playoff loss to the Rams. Oliver's blocking prowess earned him a steady role, and he played at least 46 percent of offensive snaps in all 15 regular-season appearances -- even after top tight end T.J. Hockenson returned from a knee injury in Week 9. Oliver remains under contract with the Vikings in 2025, albeit at an inflated $9.42 million cap hit.
Dec 9, 2024
Back to full speed
Oliver had one reception for 26 yards on two targets in Sunday's win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Oliver returned after missing two games due to an ankle injury. He played on 30 of the offense's 60 snaps, so he was back to his usual workload. He had an uptick in receptions (12 in three games) before the injury, but may not get as many the final four games with T.J. Hockenson back to full speed after returning from a torn ACL.
Dec 4, 2024
Logs full practice Wednesday
Oliver (wrist/ankle) was a full practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
In advance of missing the last two games due to a sprained ankle, Oliver wasn't able to practice in any capacity, so his ability to handle every rep in his return to the field Wednesday indicates he's more or less back to 100 percent. Prior to the recent absence, he recorded multiple catches in four straight contests on his way to a cumulative 14-174-2 line on 16 targets. That said, with T.J. Hockenson slowly but surely increasing his snap share (60-plus percent the last two outings), Oliver may not have as large of a workload available to him Sunday against the Falcons.
Dec 4, 2024
Back at practice Wednesday
Oliver (ankle) participated in practice Wednesday, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's Oliver's first practice since injuring his ankle Nov. 17. Coach Kevin O'Connell stated earlier in the week on Monday that he expected Oliver back for Sunday's Week 14 game against the Falcons. In Oliver's absence, T.J. Hockenson saw a spiked role, playing 68 and 64 percent of the offensive snaps, while logging a 10-142-0 receiving line on 15 targets. Oliver's return would be a slight negative for Hockenson.
Dec 2, 2024
Expected back for Week 14
Coach Kevin O'Connell said Monday that Oliver (ankle) is expected to return next Sunday against the Falcons, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver has missed the Vikings' past two games. In his absence, T.J. Hockenson has seen elevated snap rates of 68 and 64 percent after playing 48 percent or less of the snaps in his first three games back from the reserve/PUP list. It's unclear what Oliver's return will do to Hockenson's snap share, if anything. In his two games without Oliver, Hockenson has totaled 10-142-0 receiving on 15 targets. Oliver's the better blocker of the duo.
Nov 29, 2024
Ruled out for Sunday
Oliver (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
He hasn't practiced since suffering the ankle injury Week 11 and now is confirmed to be out for a second straight game. T.J. Hockenson noticed large increases in snap and route share with Oliver out last week, taking advantage to the tune of a 7-114-0 receiving line on nine targets.
Nov 28, 2024
Sits out practice again Thursday
Oliver (ankle) was a non-participant in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Oliver was also estimated as a DNP on Wednesday. The tight end hasn't practiced since spraining his ankle Week 11 against Tennessee and missed last Sunday's game against the Bears. Johnny Mundt figures to again get increased offensive snaps this Sunday versus Arizona if Oliver is unable to suit up.
Nov 27, 2024
Misses practice Wednesday
Oliver (ankle/wrist) did not practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Oliver didn't play last Sunday against the Bears, allowing T.J. Hockenson to see a spiked snap rate. After playing 48 percent of the offensive snaps or less in each of his first three games of action, Hockenson played 68 percent of the downs versus Chicago, turning in a 7-114-0 receiving line on nine targets. Oliver's continued absence would be a boost to Hockenson's fantasy stock.
Nov 22, 2024
Ruled out for Week 12
Oliver (ankle/wrist) has been uled out for Sunday's game against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Oliver will sit out a game for the first time this season. T.J. Hockenson is expected to expand his role in his fourth game back from a torn ACL, while Johnny Mundt should see additional snaps in a depth role. Oliver's next chance to suit up will be Dec. 1 against the Cardinals.
Nov 21, 2024
Misses another practice
Oliver (ankle) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Emily Leiker of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
With two straight absences from practice to begin Week 12 prep, Oliver could be facing an uphill battle to suit up Sunday against the Bears after spraining his left ankle in the Vikings' Week 11 win over the Titans. If Oliver is sidelined in Chicago this weekend, T.J. Hockenson would likely benefit from a boost in playing time after logging snap shares between 45 and 46 percent in his first three games since being activated from the PUP list Oct. 25.
Nov 20, 2024
Not practicing
Oliver (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Oliver never returned after exiting with an ankle injury during the second half of a 23-13 win over the Titans on Sunday. He's curiously improved his pass-catching production since T.J. Hockenson returned from an ACL tear, continuing to get a lot of snaps in two-TE sets while Johnny Mundt has all but been pushed out of the offense. An Oliver absence for Week 12 at Chicago likely would mean more snaps and routes for both Hockenson and Mundt.
Nov 18, 2024
Has sprained ankle
Coach Kevin O'Connell said Monday that Oliver sprained his left ankle during Sunday's win at Tennessee, and his status for a Week 12 game at Chicago is to be determined, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Goessling, Oliver was seen with a walking boot on his foot following Sunday's game, and O'Connell acknowledged afterward that the tight end would be evaluated upon the Vikings returning to Minnesota. That process appears to be ongoing, and Oliver's status could gain some clarity once the team gets back on the practice field Wednesday. Over the last four games, he's recorded multiple catches on each occasion en route to a cumulative 14-174-2 line on 16 targets.
Nov 18, 2024
Battling ankle injury
Oliver suffered a left ankle injury in Sunday's 23-13 win over the Titans and is scheduled to be evaluated in Minnesota on Monday, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com, Oliver was deemed questionable to return after suffering the ankle injury in the second half of the contest, but he never checked back in. He played 41 of the Vikings' 73 offensive snaps in the win, finishing with three catches for 34 yards on three targets. Oliver was sporting a walking boot on his ankle in the locker room after the win over Tennessee, per Goessling. A potential Oliver absence in Week 12 would free up snaps for Johnny Mundt as Minnesota's No. 2 tight end behind starter T.J. Hockenson.
Nov 17, 2024
Catches all three targets Sunday
Oliver had three receptions on as many targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 23-13 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Oliver turned in his third drop-less game over the last four weeks despite dealing with a wrist injury during practice sessions. The 27-year-old finished ahead of T.J. Hockenson as the team continues to ease the latter back from major knee surgery. Oliver is providing low-end value during the process, making him a fringe option for next Sunday's tilt at Chicago.
Nov 15, 2024
Good to go for Week 11
Oliver (wrist/hand) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Titans, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver had his practice reps capped Wednesday and Thursday, but he has the green light to suit up Sunday. T.J. Hockenson is Minnesota's best pass catching tight end, but Oliver has racked up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown over the last two games while contributing in a blocking capacity as well.
Nov 14, 2024
Remains limited in practice
Oliver (wrist/hand) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Oliver has had his reps capped in both of the Vikings' first two Week 11 practices, so he may need to put a full workout Friday to avoid taking a designation into Sunday's game against the Titans. Though he's played north of 50 percent of the Vikings' offensive snaps in each of the past eight games and has cleared 50 receiving yards in the last two contests, Oliver could see his role scaled back a bit if he's available Sunday. Top tight end T.J. Hockenson has suited up in the last two games after being activated from the PUP list, and he should be ready to handle more playing time Week 11 after he was eased back in with 45 and 46 percent snap shares in his first two outings of 2024.
Nov 13, 2024
Limited Wednesday
Oliver (wrist) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Oliver was dealing with a wrist injury last month, so perhaps he's not quite over the issue. He's coming off back-to-back strong games, with a combined 9-110-1 receiving line on 11 targets over the last two weeks. Oliver still isn't worth chasing in standard-sized fantasy leagues.
Nov 11, 2024
Surprising bigger role in win
Oliver had four receptions for 52 yards on six targets in Sunday's win at Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Oliver had a large role in the passing game even with T.J. Hockenson back and playing at full speed. Since Oliver is primarily a blocking tight end, it's hard to think his run the last two weeks (nine receptions for 110 yards) will continue especially as Hockensen gets even more integrated into the offense.
Nov 5, 2024
Five catches, touchdown in win
Oliver caught all five of his targets for 58 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-13 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Oliver remained the team leader in offensive snaps at tight end in Week 9 as the Vikings eased T.J. Hockenson back into action. Oliver made the most of his opportunities, most notably reeling in a 14-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Once Hockenson is up to speed, Oliver will see a dip in usage as the team's No. 2 option at tight end.
Oct 25, 2024
Two receptions in loss
Oliver had two receptions for 30 yards on two targets in Thursday's loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Oliver is mostly a blocking tight end as he has just six receptions in seven games. T.J. Hockenson's return early as Week 9 from a knee injury will limit Oliver's limited upside in the passing offense.
Oct 4, 2024
All set for Week 5
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said Friday that Poyer (wrist) will not carry an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against the Jets in London, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver has been limited in practice due to a wrist injury, but he'll continue to play through the issue as he's done since Week 3. The 2019 third-round pick is coming off a Week 4 performance against Green Bay in which he played a season-high 70 percent of offensive snaps while securing both of his targets for 10 yards and one touchdown, but it's worth noting that Minnesota activated starter T.J. Hockenson (knee) for a return to practice Friday, though he isn't a candidate to suit up versus New York.
Oct 3, 2024
Limited in practice again
Oliver (wrist) is listed as a limited participant on Thursday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Oliver continues to manage a wrist injury sustained Week 3, but which he managed to play through during Minnesota's win over the Packers in Week 4. He was also limited in practice Wednesday. Barring any setbacks, Oliver still looks on track to suit up for Sunday's game against the Jets in London and continue splitting reps at the tight end position alongside Johnny Mundt.
Oct 2, 2024
Limited to start week
Oliver (wrist) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice session.
ANALYSIS
Oliver picked up a wrist injury in Week 3, though he was able to play through it in Week 4 against the Packers, during which he caught two passes for 10 yards and a touchdown. His limited participation Wednesday is likely chalked up to injury maintenance, and barring a setback, Oliver should suit up for Sunday's game against the Jets in London, England. He's caught four passes (on five targets) for 37 yards and one touchdown through the first four games of the regular season.
Oct 2, 2024
TD catch in win
Oliver had two receptions for ten yards, including a two-yard touchdown, on two targets in Sunday's win at Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Oliver started at tight end and played on 46 of the offense's 68 snaps. He went out for a pass on 14 snaps. Despite the touchdown, he's mostly a blocking end with just five targets in four games.
Sep 27, 2024
Cleared to play Sunday
Oliver (wrist) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Packers and is expected to play, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver missed some practice reps earlier in the week with the wrist issue but is good to go in a key divisional matchup with Green Bay. The veteran tight end has played more of a blocking role alongside Johnny Mundt at tight end for the Vikings. Oliver has two catches for 27 yards on three targets through three games.
Sep 25, 2024
Nursing wrist injury
Oliver (wrist) was listed as a limited participant for Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Oliver played 37 snaps (30 on offense, seven on special teams) in the Vikings' Week 3 win over the Texans, though it appears the 2019 third-round pick may have sustained a wrist injury during the game. Wednesday's injury report was just an estimation, and Oliver will have two more practices to increase his participation ahead of Week 4 against the Packers.
Sep 9, 2024
Two receptions in season opener
Oliver started at tight end and had two receptions for 27 yards on three targets in Sunday's win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Oliver had 27 snaps on offense compared to 29 for Johnny Mundt, who had three targets and two receptions for 15 yards. While neither tight end was a major factor in the passing attack, that could change if Jordan Addison missed time with an ankle injury. Still, Oliver is still mostly a blocking tight end who can catch an occasional touchdown.
Jan 11, 2024
Secures two touchdowns in 2023
Oliver appeared in all 17 games during the 2023 season, catching 22 of 28 targets for 213 yards and two touchdowns.
ANALYSIS
A third-round pick by the Jaguars in 2019, Oliver's targets, catches, yards and touchdowns all set or matched career highs. He saw action on 42 percent of the Vikings' offensive snaps after signing a three-year, $21 million deal with Minnesota last offseason. Oliver should once again play more of a blocking role behind T.J. Hockenson (knee) next season.
Jan 1, 2024
Just one reception in loss
Oliver had one reception for 17 yards on two targets in Sunday's loss to Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
While Oliver started at tight end, Johnny Mundt played more snaps and went out on more routes. Mundt played on 41 of the offense's 53 snaps and went out on 32 routes, while Oliver played 24 snaps and went out on eight routes. Mundt looks to be the one to get more looks in the passing game with T.J. Hockenson out for the season with a knee injury.
Dec 25, 2023
Catches one pass in defeat
Oliver caught one pass for 33 yards and no touchdowns in the Vikings' 30-24 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The backup tight end saw two targets and played on 19 offensive snaps. Starter T.J. Hockenson left the game early in the third quarter with a knee injury and did not return, but depth tight end Johnny Mundt also saw 22 offensive snaps and three targets. Hockenson is undergoing an MRI on Monday, and if he has to miss time, it could mean a greater share of snaps for both Oliver and Mundt.
Dec 13, 2023
Goes catchless in win
Oliver played 28 of 72 snaps on offense in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Raiders and failed to corral his lone target.
ANALYSIS
Since producing a season-best 4-47-1 receiving line on four targets in a Week 11 loss to Denver, Oliver has been blanked on two targets in the Vikings' last two contests. The 26-year-old is a valued blocker and should continue to see plenty of playing time on offense alongside T.J. Hockenson, but Oliver is unlikely to be a major factor in the passing attack in a given game so long as Hockenson is available.
Nov 20, 2023
Catches second TD of season
Oliver had four receptions for 47 yards on four targets, including a three-yard touchdown, in Sunday's loss at Denver.
ANALYSIS
It was a rare offensive outburst from Oliver, who is mostly used as a blocker. It was his second touchdown of the season and a season-high in receptions and yards. While this could be a sign he'll have a greater receiving role in an offense with Josh Dobbs fully integrated at quarterback, he had just two targets in his first two games Dobbs behind center.
Oct 9, 2023
Loses key fumble in loss
Oliver had one reception for 15 yards on two targets, but lost a fumble on Minnesota's opening possession in Sunday's loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Oliver lost the fumble on a reception which set up the Chiefs with good field position early in the first quarter that led to a touchdown. Oliver is a strong blocking tight end who doesn't get many targets and losing a fumble won't help his case in the offensive game plan.
Sep 25, 2023
Gets first TD of season
Oliver had two receptions for four yards, including a four-yard touchdown, in Sunday's loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Oliver is mostly a blocking tight end as he went out on a route on just 8 of 27 snaps on offense. He could be an occasional option in the red zone, but it was just his third touchdown reception in 38 career games.
Sep 11, 2023
Three receptions in Vikings debut
Oliver had three receptions on three targets in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Oliver started at tight end opposite T.J. Hockenson as the Vikings opened in a two-TE set. Oliver is mostly a blocking tight end in the offense, but did go out for a pass on 13 of his 30 snaps on offense. He played on 30 of the offense's 64 snaps. He won't generate enough targets for viable fantasy value in most leagues, but could be a factor should Hockenson get hurt.
Jun 22, 2023
Expected to be a factor in red zone
Oliver is expected to be a factor in the Vikings' red-zone offense, according to The Athletic's Alec Lewis.
ANALYSIS
Signed to a surprising three-year, $21 million in free agency after spending the last two seasons buried in Baltimore's run-heavy offense, Oliver has been a pleasant surprise in offseason workouts, per Lewis. Vikings OC Wes Phillips said that Oliver could do more through the air than most realized, and that he's built like a "rhinoceros" in the open field. Oliver is unlikely to see consistent targets as long as T.J. Hockenson is healthy, but it sounds like Minnesota has plans for Oliver in multiple-tight end sets, particularly in the scoring area.
Mar 13, 2023
Gets big payday from Vikings
Oliver and the Vikings reached agreement Monday on a three-year, $21 million contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
A 2019 third-round pick, Oliver played only four games for his original team (Jacksonville) in two seasons but then developed into a solid backup tight end for Baltimore in 2021 and 2022. He's caught only 26 passes in 35 career games, and while he should see a few more targets in Minnesota, there's not much fantasy upside so long as T.J. Hockenson stays healthy. This move strongly suggests fellow free agent Irv Smith will sign elsewhere rather than sticking with the Vikings.
Jan 17, 2023
Sees role increase in 2022
Oliver caught 14 of 25 targets for 126 yards and two touchdowns in 2022.
ANALYSIS
Oliver saw a role increase in his second year with Baltimore as he played nearly 500 snaps and recorded his first season with double-digit receptions despite the team bringing in two tight ends in the fourth round of the draft. Rookie Charlie Kolar being injured for much of the season helped Oliver carve out a bigger role, and he established himself as a useful blocker in Baltimore's run-heavy scheme. He's due to hit free agency this offseason and with Mark Andrews already in the fold along with Baltimore's investments at tight end in the draft, it's possible he will be playing elsewhere in 2023.

Little involvement in Week 18
Oliver played 32 of the Ravens' 75 snaps on offense in Sunday's 27-16 loss to the Bengals and failed to corral his lone target.
ANALYSIS
Though the Ravens played the regular-season finale without top tight end Mark Andrews -- who sat out for rest purposes -- Oliver wasn't a major beneficiary. Oliver's 43 percent snap share actually took a step back from his 60 percent mark against the Steelers one week earlier, as Isaiah Likely (88 percent, 8-103-0 receiving line on 13 targets) and Charlie Kolar (44 percent, 4-49-0 on six targets) instead took advantage of Andrews' absence. Because the Ravens value Oliver's blocking skills and ability to contribute on special teams, he's still likely to be active for Sunday's rematch with the Bengals in the wild-card round.

Goes without target in Week 14
Oliver played 42 of the Ravens' 61 snaps on offense and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 16-14 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Oliver turned some heads when he recorded four receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' Week 12 loss to the Jaguars, but the absence of No. 2 tight end Isaiah Likely for that contest played a major role in Oliver's breakthrough performance. With both Mark Andrews and Likely available for the Ravens' subsequent two contests, Oliver has faded almost exclusively into a blocking role when he's taken the field. He's played 66 combined snaps on offense over the past two weeks and hasn't been targeted once.

Excels in expanded role
Oliver recorded four receptions on six targets for 76 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Oliver stepped into an expanded role with Isaiah Likely (ankle) sidelined, and he excelled with the opportunity. He tied for the team lead in receptions and led in receiving yards. Oliver's performance was highlighted by a 12-yard touchdown catch that came late in the fourth quarter, though he also caught a 40-yard pass from Lamar Jackson early in the third quarter. Although Oliver entered Sunday's game with only seven receptions, the Ravens have been in need of pass-catching options much of the season, so if Likely remains out Oliver could maintain his expanded role.

Likely to step in as No. 2 TE
Oliver is expected to serve as the Ravens' No. 2 tight end behind starter Mark Andrews in Sunday's game against the Jaguars with Isaiah Likely (ankle) ruled out for the contest, Ryan Mink of Baltimore's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore also has Nick Boyle and Charlie Kolar available as options at tight end, but the former serves mainly as a special-teams contributor and blocker on offense, while the latter has yet to make his NFL debut. Oliver, meanwhile, has already held a steady role on offense all season, even on the occasions both Andrews and Likely have been available. He's played no fewer than 30 percent of the offensive snaps in any of Baltimore's 10 games to date and has drawn at least one target in each of the past six contests.

Makes two grabs Sunday
Oliver caught two passes for 21 yards on three targets Sunday against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The veteran nearly reeled in his third target but officials ruled that it was not a catch. Still, Oliver was as involved as he's been all season in the passing game and his 21 yards marked a season-high. Oliver has played at least 30 percent of the snaps in each game this season but has only drawn targets in three of six outings. Baltimore hosts Cleveland in Week 7.

Draws first targets of season
Oliver reeled in both of his targets for eight yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-26 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
While filling a depth role at tight end behind Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, Oliver's offensive snaps shares have ranged between 32 and 50 percent through three weeks. His workload is unlikely to change so long as both Andrews and Likely are available, but Oliver was at least able to make the most of his limited time on the field Sunday by collecting his first two targets of the season. He turned one of them into a one-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter, marking the first time that he's found paydirt since entering the NFL in 2019.

Quiet year in Baltimore
Oliver caught nine of 15 targets for 66 yards in 2021.
ANALYSIS
An offseason acquisition from the Jaguars, Oliver suited up in 14 games for the Ravens in his debut season with the team. Mark Andrews came into the year as the alpha of the Ravens' tight end group and only solidified his standing in that regard, which left few opportunities for the rest of the team's tight ends when the team went with single tight end sets. Oliver averaged just 4.4 yards per target on his limited opportunities and played the third-most snaps at his position on the team. He is due $1 million in base salary in 2022, the final year of his rookie contract. If Nick Boyle returns to full strength, Oliver will have to battle with Eric Tomlinson for the No.3 tight end spot on the roster in all likelihood.

Back from COVID list
Oliver was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Clifton Brown from the Ravens' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
The backup tight end was removed from the COVID list Tuesday and was moved to the exempt/COVID-19 list, allowing him to resume activities but not be placed on the 53-man roster. Oliver has operated as a depth option behind starter Mark Andrews all season, making just eight catches for 65 yards in 13 games this season.
Dec 23, 2021
Placed on COVID list
Oliver was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Oliver is the 12th member of Baltimore's 53-man roster placed on the list. The backup tight end has eight catches for 65 yards this season but has played primarily in a special teams role of late. He'll be fighting an uphill battle to gain clearance before Sunday's game in Cincinnati.
Oct 26, 2021
Notches season-highs
Oliver caught two of five targets for 29 yards against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
This was Oliver's best game of the season, notching season-highs in yards (29), snaps (19) and targets (5). He has seen over 15 snaps in back-to-back weeks but Sunday was likely an anomaly in terms of his target volume. Baltimore is on bye before returning Week 9 to face Minnesota.
Aug 23, 2021
Paces all pass-catchers
Oliver had seven catches for 50 yards on 10 targets Saturday against the Panthers. He also lost one fumble.
ANALYSIS
Though Oliver led all Ravens pass-catchers in every major category, his red zone fumble casts a pall over his performance. Oliver is battling for the No.3 tight end spot while Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle are locks.

Can't return from IR
Oliver (foot) won't be eligible to return from injured reserve, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
If the Jaguars wanted Oliver to be eligible to return, they would've had to wait until Sept. 6 to place him on injured reserve. As is, the 2019 third-round pick will miss the entire 2020 campaign while he recovers from surgery on a broken foot. Oliver missed 12 games last year with hamstring and back injuries, so his luck couldn't be much worse through two pro season. Meanwhile, Tyler Eifert is left with light competition for TE targets in Jacksonville.

Placed on IR, needs surgery
The Jaguars placed Oliver (foot) on injured reserve Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver is scheduled to have surgery on a broken foot and can now be ruled out for the first eight weeks of the regular season. The 2019 third-round pick missed the first six games of his rookie campaign with a hamstring injury and the final six games with a fracture in his back, limiting him to four appearances. With Oliver out until at least midseason, Tyler Eifert doesn't have much competition for targets at tight end.

Suffers broken foot
Oliver suffered a broken foot bone Sunday and will undergo surgery, SI's John Shipley reports.
ANALYSIS
It's not clear what the exact type of foot fracture Oliver suffered, but the quick surgery announcement implies it was something substantial that could keep him out for an extended period. It's a frustrating development for the athletic but raw tight end out of San Jose State, a third-round pick of Jacksonville's from the 2019 draft. The Jaguars have at least two capable veterans on the depth chart in Tyler Eifert and James O'Shaughnessy, but both of them have their own durability concerns. After those two veterans, rookie sixth-round pick Tyler Davis (Georgia Tech) might be next on the depth chart.
Jun 23, 2020
Set for sophomore season
Oliver (back) should be healthy for training camp after appearing in only three games as a rookie, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2019 third-round pick missed the preseason with a hamstring injury and went down with a back issue after returning to the field, as he finished the season with three catches for 15 yards. Tyler Eifert was signed in March and is expected to start in 2020, while Oliver is likely to compete for reps behind him with James O'Shaughnessy (knee) and rookie Tyler Davis.
Jan 24, 2020
Rookie campaign derailed by injury
Oliver (back) spent the final six weeks of the season on injured reserve and totaled three catches for 15 yards in four games this season.
ANALYSIS
The rookie third-round pick missed the preseason and the first six games of the year with a hamstring injury, and he didn't see much involvement in the offense before suffering small fractures in his back Week 11. The starting job at tight end remains up for grabs, so a strong offseason could go a long way towards securing a larger role in 2020.
Nov 18, 2019
Lands on IR
The Jaguars placed Oliver (back) on injured reserve Monday, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver suffered fractures in his back during Sunday's 33-13 loss to the Colts, the severity of which will now cause him to spend the rest of the season on injured reserve. The 22-year-old caught three of six targets for 15 yards across four games in his rookie campaign. With Seth DeValve (oblique) nursing an injury, the Jaguars could be forced to work with Nick O'Leary (who the team signed in free agency Monday) and Ben Koyack as the only options at tight end Week 12.
Nov 17, 2019
Leaves Sunday's game
Oliver (back) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Colts, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear how Oliver picked up the injury, but this is tough news for him, considering he was in line for an increased snap count Sunday. With he and Seth DeValve (oblique) sidelined as well, the only healthy tight end left on the roster is Ben Koyack. Oliver left late int he fourth quarter, so in the likely event he doesn't return, expect specifics from the team in the coming days regarding the injury.
Oct 18, 2019
Set for NFL debut
Oliver (hamstring) won't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Oliver began the week as a limited practice participant but progressed to full participation Thursday and Friday to clear the way for his NFL debut this weekend. The rookie third-round pick has been sidelined since early August by the hamstring injury but could have an immediate role in the offense with Geoff Swaim (concussion/ankle) sidelined and James O'Shaughnessy (knee) out for the year. Oliver is mostly just a speculative stash in fantasy until he shows what he can do on the field.
