Plays in all 17 games again in 2024
Chenal finished the 2024 season with 60 tackles (40 solo), including 1.0 sacks, three pass breakups and three forced fumbles across 17 regular-season games.
ANALYSIS
Selected in the third round of the 2022 Draft, Chenal has appeared in all 17 games each of his first three seasons, but his 14 starts in 2024 marked a new career best. He played 41 percent of the Chiefs' defensive snaps and 68 percent of the downs on special teams. Chenal mainly served as an early-down thumper at linebacker alongside Nick Bolton. Chenal is scheduled to head into the final year of his rookie contract in 2025.

Able to play Week 16
Chenal (illness) is not among Kansas City's inactives for Saturday's tilt against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
A late-week illness resulted in Chenal being given a questionable tag Friday, but the third-year pro will ultimately be able to suit up. Chenal logged a season-low 17 percent of the Chiefs' defensive snaps against Cleveland last Sunday, though he impressed with four tackles and a forced fumble in that limited amount of action. He's been impactful both on defense and special teams this season, but Chenal hasn't logged more than 45 percent of Kansas City's defensive snaps since Week 7 versus San Francisco.

Questionable with pop-up illness
Chenal (illness) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Texans, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chenal was added on Friday to the injury report with a pop-up illness. The third-year linebacker has yet to miss a game this season, and the final decision on his status should be determined before kickoff on Saturday.

Logs first sack of 2024
Chenal finished Sunday's 27-20 win over Las Vegas with four solo tackles, including 1.0 sacks.
ANALYSIS
It wasn't until late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game that Chenal logged his first sack of the 2024 regular season. He was credited with the sack after getting to Gardner Minshew while the quarterback was running out of bounds for a minimal loss. Through the first seven games of the regular season, Chenal has tallied 27 tackles (21 solo), including 1.0 sacks, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

Starts season with seven tackles
Chenal had seven tackles (three solo), including one tackle for loss, and two passes defensed in Thursday's 27-20 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Chenal posted a well-rounded performance in the regular-season opener. He got attention from trainers after some friendly fire from a teammate on a tackle attempt, but Chenal was able to stay in the game. The linebacker has extra time to recover from any lingering effects before the Chiefs host the Bengals in Week 2.

Gets another sack Sunday
Chenal recorded seven tackles (four solo) including a sack in Sunday's 21-14 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Chenal registered in the sack column for the second straight game in Week 9. He's seen more playing time over the last couple weeks with Nick Bolton dealing with a wrist injury, and he's made good on the opportunity up to this point. After a Week 10 bye, Kansas City will host a run-heavy Philadelphia offense.

Tallies double-digit tackles
Chenal notched 10 tackles (six solo) and one sack during Sunday's 24-9 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Chenal has stepped into an expanded role on defense with Nick Bolton (wrist) expected to miss two months, handling a season-high 44 defensive snaps versus Denver. The second-year pro could be worth fantasy consideration in deeper IDP formats heading into an international Week 9 matchup against the Dolphins.

Not on injury report Monday
Chenal (hip) was a full participant at practice Monday.
ANALYSIS
This means Chenal should be ready to go Thursday versus Detroit. With star defensive tackle Chris Jones still holding out for a contract extension, Kansas City will call on Chenal to try to slow down what figures to be a potent Lions rushing attack.

Suffers hip injury
Chenal sustained a hip injury during the Chiefs' preseason game against the Browns on Saturday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The linebacker got up limping after diving for a fumble but was still able to trot to the end zone to celebrate with teammates. The 2022 third-round pick posted 35 tackles and a sack in 17 games and eight starts last season for the Super Bowl champions. This coming season, Chenal is slated to reprise a key role in Kansas City's LB corps along with Willie Gay and Nick Bolton, among others.

Solid in first pro campaign
Chenal recorded 35 tackles (19 solo) and a sack over 17 games as a rookie with the Chiefs during the 2022 regular season.
ANALYSIS
Chenal didn't particularly stand out as a rookie, but he did seemingly come into his own late in the season, recording nearly half of his tackles (17) over the final four weeks of the regular season. He'll aim to build on that output in his sophomore season and seems likely to claim a regular role, though he may have some work to do in the pass rush and coverage departments.

Links up with KC
The Chiefs selected Chenal in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 103rd overall.
ANALYSIS
Chenal (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) would be comparable to a tank if he weren't so fast (4.53-second 40), and he was far and away the best player on a suffocating Wisconsin defense. He falls this far over coverage concerns, but his 4.53 speed and a 41-inch vertical at 250 pounds are stellar numbers. He's projected to start out behind Willie Gay and Nick Bolton at linebacker, but Chenal could become the best of the three in time.
