Matthew Golden Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Bears vs Packers game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 27, 2025
Inactive Thursday
Golden (wrist) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
After being listed as limited on Green Bay's Week 13 injury report Monday through Wednesday, Golden - who was also inactive this past Sunday against the Vikings -- approached Thursday's contest listed as questionable. In his continued absence, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks are line line to lead the Packers' WR corps versus Detroit, with Malik Heath, Bo Melton and Will Sheppard available to mix in. Golden's next chance to see game action will arrive Dec. 7 against the Bears.
Nov 26, 2025
Officially listed as questionable
Golden (wrist) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Lions, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Golden logged another limited practice session Wednesday. The rookie first-round pick had practiced in a limited capacity prior to being ruled out for Week 12 against the Vikings, a game which he was also listed as questionable for, so it's possible his status for Thanksgiving Day will come down to the wire. Green Bay will make Golden's availability, or lack thereof, official no later than 90 minutes prior to Thursday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 25, 2025
Limited in walk-through session
Golden (wrist) was a limited participant in Tuesday's walk-through practice.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the Packers' Week 12 win over the Vikings with the wrist issue, Golden has been estimated as a limited participant on the team's first two Week 13 practice reports. Green Bay faces a quick turnaround this week with a Thursday game against the Lions, which may work against Golden in his efforts to return to action.
Nov 24, 2025
Listed as limited participant
Golden (wrist) is listed as a limited participant on Monday's estimated injury report, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Golden sat out Week 12 versus the Vikings while managing a pair of injuries, but the rookie first-round pick now at least appears to have put his shoulder issue behind him. He'll have two more opportunities to upgrade his activity level as Green Bay prepares to travel to Detroit for a key divisional showdown on Thanksgiving Day. Across nine regular-season appearances to date, Golden has only exceeded 50 receiving yards on three occasions, and he's still looking to score his first receiving touchdown.
Nov 23, 2025
Inactive Sunday
Golden (shoulder/wrist) is listed as inactive Sunday versus the Vikings, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Packers cleared three injured wide receivers Friday -- Christian Watson (knee), Romeo Doubs (wrist) and Bo Melton (shoulder) -- and two more Sunday morning in Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (foot). Meanwhile, Golden won't suit up Week 12, which will mark the second time in the last three games he'll sit out as he tends to a lingering shoulder injury and a new wrist issue. His next chance to play is Thursday at Detroit.
Nov 23, 2025
Likely to sit out Sunday
Golden (shoulder/wrist) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings but isn't expected to play, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
While managing a pair of injuries, Golden was listed as a limited participant in practices Wednesday through Friday before he was one of three Packers receivers to take a questionable tag into the weekend. Confirmation on Golden's status won't arrive until the Packers post their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff, but the rookie first-round pick looks like he'll wind up being sidelined for the second time in the past three games. When healthy, Golden has occasionally flashed some big-play ability, but with no more than six targets in any of his nine appearances on the season, he hasn't been drawing enough volume to make much of a fantasy impact.
Nov 21, 2025
Questionable for Sunday
Golden (shoulder/wrist) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Vikings, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Packers' Week 12 injury report was jam-packed with wide receivers, with Christian Watson (knee), Romeo Doubs (wrist) and Bo Melton (shoulder) avoiding designations ahead of the weekend. Meanwhile, Golden, Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (foot) are listed as questionable, and Jayden Reed (foot/shoulder) was ruled out. Golden's status will be confirmed about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, but even if he's available, the rookie first-round pick has managed to surpass 50 receiving yards three times and hasn't scored a touchdown in nine appearances as a pro.
Nov 20, 2025
Limited again Thursday
Golden (shoulder/wrist) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Golden now has strung together two capped sessions this week, meaning Friday's practice likely will determine if he enters the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest against the Vikings. Aside from Golden, Christian Watson (knee), Romeo Doubs (wrist), Dontayvion Wicks (calf), Savion Williams (foot) and Bo Melton (shoulder) also were limited Thursday, so it remains to be seen who among them is actually able to suit up Week 12.
Nov 19, 2025
Tending to pair of injuries
Golden was limited at Wednesday's practice due to shoulder and wrist injuries.
ANALYSIS
Golden didn't play Week 10 against the Eagles due to a shoulder injury but was able to return to action for this past Sunday's win at the Giants. He logged a season-low 33 percent snap share Week 11 and managed to haul in just one of three targets for 24 yards. The Packers' receiving corps continues to deal with numerous injuries, with Christian Watson (knee), Romeo Doubs (wrist) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) all limited to begin Week 12 prep, while Savion Williams (foot) was a DNP, so the overall situation is one to watch to get a sense of who among them will be available Sunday versus the Vikings.
Nov 16, 2025
Just one catch in Week 11 win
Golden caught just one of three targets for 24 yards in the Packers' 27-20 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Golden's three targets were third on the team behind Romeo Doubs (eight) and Christian Watson (five), but the first-round rookie wideout continues to provide little production in the box score. Through nine games, Golden has just 24 catches for 286 yards and zero touchdowns on 32 targets. He's done nothing to warrant fantasy starter treatment ahead of next Sunday's difficult on-paper matchup with the Vikings.
Nov 16, 2025
Back in action Sunday
Golden (shoulder) is listed as active Sunday at the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Golden thus will miss just one game due to the shoulder injury that sidelined him during a Week 10 loss to the Eagles. It should be noted that the rookie first-round pick was listed as limited on all three Week 11 practice reports, and veteran WRs Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson and Dontayvion Wicks all entered the weekend without designations. As a result, Golden may not be available for his typical workload, which so far has ranged from 48 to 73 percent of the offensive snaps while averaging 3.7 targets per game in his seven healthy appearances this season.
Nov 14, 2025
Questionable for Sunday
Golden (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at the Giants, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Fellow rookie wideout Savion Williams (foot) is also listed as questionable, while Christian Watson (knee), Romeo Doubs (chest) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) are all cleared to play. Doubs has been the safest bet for playing time and targets whenever he's healthy, but Watson and Wicks also took a comfortable majority of snaps in Monday's 10-7 loss to the Eagles. Week 11 projections for Watson and Wicks partially depend on whether Golden is declared inactive ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday. If the speedy rookie plays, it'll be the first time Green Bay has all of Doubs, Golden, Watson and Wicks available for the same game.
Nov 13, 2025
Another limited listing
Golden (shoulder) was limited at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Golden missed the final two practices last week due to a shoulder injury that he suffered Week 9 before being inactive for Monday's loss to the Eagles. Speaking on the matter Thursday, coach Matt LaFleur told Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site that Golden was "definitely close" to playing in that contest, and the rookie wide receiver now has followed up Wednesday's limited walkthrough with a capped session one day later. Friday's practice report will reveal Golden's odds to suit up Sunday at the Giants, along with the three other Green Bay WRs -- Christian Watson (knee/hamstring), Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (foot) -- listed as limited Thursday.
Nov 12, 2025
Limited walkthrough
Golden (shoulder) was limited at Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Golden has missed one game due to the shoulder injury that he sustained during a Week 9 loss to the Panthers. Coach Matt LaFleur told Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site on Wednesday that the team will "try to integrate him back into practice and see where he's at." A capped session to start Week 11 prep is a step in the right direction, but Golden likely will need to string together multiple practices in a row in order to gain clearance for game action Sunday at the Giants. Fellow WR Romeo Doubs (chest) was listed as full Wednesday, while Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (foot) also were limited.
Nov 12, 2025
To be eased back into practice
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday that the plan for Golden (shoulder) is "to integrate him back into practice and see where he's at," Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Golden sat out Monday's loss to the Eagles after having opened Week 10 as a limited participant at practice, but he then concluded Green Bay's preparation period with back-to-back absences. Per LaFleur's comments, it sounds as though even if Golden manages to resume practicing in advance of Sunday's road matchup against the Giants, he could be a ways away from returning to a starting role on offense. On a positive note for the Packers, LaFleur said Romeo Doubs (chest) is expected to be available Week 11.
Nov 10, 2025
Inactive in Week 10
Golden (shoulder) is listed as inactive Monday against the Eagles, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Golden opened up Week 10 prep as limited last Thursday but followed it up with back-to-back absences from practice, leaving him questionable for Monday's contest. With Golden's status now confirmed, the Packers will be rolling with Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks (calf), Malik Heath and Savion Williams (foot) at wide receiver. Golden's next chance for game action is this coming Sunday at the Giants.
Nov 10, 2025
Unlikely to play Monday
Golden (shoulder) isn't expected to play Monday against the Eagles, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Golden didn't practice Friday or Saturday due to a shoulder injury ahead of the Packers listing him as questionable for Week 10 action. He's now slated to miss the first game of his career, and with two other wide receivers also listed as questionable -- Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (foot) -- Green Bay has only three players at the position completely cleared for Monday's game (Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson and Malik Heath). Golden's status will be confirmed about 90 minutes before an 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 8, 2025
Officially questionable for Week 10
Golden (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Eagles, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Of the five Green Bay wide receivers on the Week 10 injury report, three of them are questionable, with Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (foot) joining Golden, while Christian Watson (knee) and Malik Heath (hip) have no designations. At the very least, Romeo Doubs, Watson and Heath are slated to be available Monday, but Golden, who managed just one limited session (Thursday) this week, is "day-to-day," as coach Matt LaFleur told Hodkiewicz earlier Saturday. Golden's status will be confirmed about 90 minutes before Monday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 8, 2025
'Fighting' to play Week 10
Head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters Saturday that Golden is considered "day-to-day" due to a shoulder injury, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
"It's one of these deals where [Golden] is fighting to play. We'll see how he's feeling today whether he goes out and practices," LaFleur relayed Saturday. Golden sustained a shoulder injury during the Packers' Week 9 loss to the Panthers, which limited his practice participation Thursday before he sat out of Friday's session. The Packers are dealing with several injuries at wide receiver, so Saturday's practice report will indicate the game-day designations for Golden, Christian Watson (knee), Dontayvion Wicks (calf), Savion Williams (foot) and Malik Heath (hip).
Nov 7, 2025
Falls back to DNP on Friday
Golden (shoulder) didn't practice Friday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Golden wasn't able to return to the Packers' Week 9 loss to the Panthers due to a shoulder injury, and while he was limited at Thursday's session, his lack of activity one day later is a concerning development ahead of Monday's contest against the Eagles. Saturday's practice report will reveal the game-day designations for all of the Packers' banged-up wide receivers, the others being Christian Watson (knee, LP this week), Dontayvion Wicks (calf, also LP), Malik Heath (hip, added as LP on Friday) and Savion Williams (foot, LP on Friday after DNP on Thursday).
Nov 6, 2025
Slated for limited practice
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that Golden (shoulder) will be a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Golden was forced out of his past Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Panthers due to a shoulder injury, but his ability to practice in some capacity to begin Week 10 prep suggests his health concern isn't a major one. Along with Golden, Dontayvion Wicks (calf) -- who missed the Packers' last two games -- will be limited Thursday, but if both are able to advance to full participation by the end of the week, Green Bay could have all of its key wide receivers available for the first time this season in Monday's game against the Eagles. Christian Watson had previously sat out Green Bay's first six games while completing his recovery from an ACL tear, but he returned to action Week 8.
Nov 3, 2025
Avoids major injury
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that the shoulder injury Golden suffered in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Panthers isn't a long-term concern, and the rookie wideout is viewed as day-to-day rather than week-to-week, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Before exiting the game in the third quarter, Golden was on the field for 24 snaps and finished with two catches for nine yards on three targets. While he appears to have avoided a serious injury, his availability for the Packers' Week 10 matchup with the Eagles on Monday will be determined by his practice activity. The Packers will return to the field Thursday for their first session of the week.
Nov 2, 2025
Won't return Sunday
Golden (shoulder) has been ruled out of Sunday's game versus the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Golden went to the locker room in the third quarter due to a shoulder injury and wasn't able to return, ending Week 9 action with two catches (on three targets) for nine yards. With Dontayvion Wicks (calf) inactive and TE Tucker Kraft (knee) also not returning Sunday, the Packers' receiving corps has been whittled down to Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Malik Heath and Savion Williams.
Nov 2, 2025
Injures shoulder in Week 9
Golden suffered a shoulder injury during Sunday's game versus the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
In a span of a few minutes, the Packers announced injuries for Golden and top TE Tucker Kraft (knee). When Golden went to the locker room in the third quarter, he had two catches (on three targets) for nine yards.
Oct 27, 2025
No big plays in Week 8 win
Golden was limited to three catches for four yards on three targets in Sunday's 35-25 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Green Bay activated another downfield threat in Christian Watson (knee) from the PUP list for his 2025 debut, but the absence of Dontayvion Wicks (calf) may have been a factor in both Watson and Golden seeing ample playing time in top-three roles at receiver. In Golden's case, he played 42 of Green Bay's 64 offensive snaps (66 percent), running a route on 28 of the 29 passing downs in which he was on the field. However, after delivering five receptions of 20-plus yards from Weeks 3 through 6, Golden was unable to provide a splash play for the second game in a row, with his average depth of target on the night settling at a season-low 1.3 yards. Better days should be ahead for the rookie first-round pick, but because Golden hasn't commanded heavy target volume in any game this season, he possesses a low floor that will make it difficult to include him in weekly fantasy lineups with much confidence.
Oct 26, 2025
Suiting up in Week 8
Golden (hip) is listed as active Sunday in Pittsburgh, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Golden ended Week 8 prep Friday by being added to the injury report as limited due to a hip injury, leaving him questionable for Sunday's game. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network then reported earlier Sunday that Golden was in line to suit up, which now has been confirmed. With Christian Watson back in action for the first time since Week 18 of last season after completing his recovery from a torn right ACL, Golden will have additional competition for deep routes in Green Bay's passing game.
Oct 26, 2025
Expected to be available Sunday
Golden (hip) is expected to play Sunday night against the Steelers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Golden was added to the Packers' injury report Friday with a 'questionable' designation after being limited in the team's final practice of the week. While the wideout is trending toward active status, fantasy managers will still want to confirm Golden's available once Green Bay's inactives are posted ahead of the team's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. Meanwhile, Rapoport reports that WR Christian Watson (knee), who was activated from the PUP list Saturday is also on track to face Pittsburgh.
Oct 24, 2025
Added to report, deemed questionable
Golden (hip) was a limited practice participant Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game at Pittsburgh, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
An end-of-week addition to the injury report suggests Golden hurt his hip during practice. It isn't yet clear at this point if he's in serious danger of sitting out Sunday night, but the Packers might have another deep threat to help fill in if that's the case, with WR Christian Watson (knee) listed as questionable.
Oct 19, 2025
Four grabs in Arizona
Golden caught all four of his targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 27-23 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
The Packers' offense didn't really wake up until the second half, and Golden wasn't able to do as much with his limited volume as he had in Week 6 against the Bengals. The rookie wideout has yet to see more than six targets in a game in the pros, and he's still looking for his first TD in the NFL. Golden will take a modest 18-249-0 line on 23 targets through six contests into a Week 8 meeting with the Steelers.
Oct 13, 2025
Tops 100 yards from scrimmage
Golden recorded three receptions on five targets for 86 yards in Sunday's 27-18 win over the Bengals. He added two rushes for 16 yards.
ANALYSIS
Golden continues to get more involved in the Green Bay offense, as he's now earned at least five targets in each of his last three games. He was impressive with the opportunity, ripping off long gains of 35 and 31 yards, the latter of which all but clinched a win for the Packers. Golden topped 100 yards from scrimmage for the first time in his career while showcasing his ability to work deep down the field and also pick up yards after the catch. He appears to be earning trust from coaches and Jordan Love, which should lead to more consistent usage as the season progresses.
Sep 29, 2025
Another step forward
Golden recorded five receptions on six targets for 58 yards in Sunday's 40-40 tie against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Golden continues to emerge in the Packers' offense, as he logged his highest target, reception and yardage totals of his career. Most of his production came on the team's opening possession, as he got behind the Cowboys' secondary for a 46-yard catch -- the longest of his career. Golden appears to be on the verge of truly breaking out as his role continues to expand, but he'll continue to face plenty of target competition from the likes of Tucker Kraft and Romeo Doubs.
Sep 21, 2025
Best game as pro yet
Golden secured all four targets for 52 yards and rushed three times for nine yards in the Packers' 13-10 loss to the Browns on Sunday. He also returned two punts for eight yards.
ANALYSIS
The rookie first-round pick had struggled through his first two weeks as a pro while generating a 2-16-0 line on four targets in that span. Therefore, Sunday's performance was essentially a mini-breakout by comparison, and in addition to producing a team-high receiving yardage figure, Golden also logged multiple rush attempts for the second consecutive contest. With Jayden Reed (IR-collarbone/foot) out for an extended period, Golden should progressively carve out a larger role in coming weeks.
Sep 12, 2025
Catchless in Week 2 win
Golden didn't catch either of his two targets but rushed twice for 15 yards in Thursday's 27-18 win over the Commanders. He also had one punt return for minus-2 yards.
ANALYSIS
Golden just missed bringing in a deep ball with an outstretched effort on one of his two targets. The rookie first-round pick hasn't managed to carve out a substantial role yet in a deep Packers receiving corps, though Golden could get more opportunities as soon as Week 3 against the Browns in the absence of Jayden Reed, who broke his collarbone in Thursday's win. Golden's 59 percent snap share Thursday was second behind Romeo Doubs' 74 percent among Green Bay's wide receivers and represented a slight uptick from Golden's 48 percent mark in Week 1.
Sep 10, 2025
Set to play Thursday
Golden (ankle) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's contest versus the Commanders, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After being listed as limited on Monday's practice estimate due to an ankle injury, Golden was a full participant at Tuesday's walkthrough and then was tagged as full again Wednesday. With his status, along with fellow WRs Jayden Reed (foot) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf), confirmed for Week 2 action, Green Bay's receiving corps again will be at full strength. In his pro debut this past Sunday against the Lions, Golden handled a 48 percent snap share, ran 13 routes and tallied two catches (on two targets) for 16 yards.
Sep 9, 2025
Upgrades to full activity
The Packers listed Golden (ankle) as a full participant for Tuesday's walk-through practice.
ANALYSIS
Golden was estimated as a limited participant Monday when the Packers didn't practice, and though the team didn't hold a traditional session Tuesday, the rookie was apparently able to do enough to receive an upgraded listing. The 22-year-old wideout looks like he'll be good to go for Thursday's matchup with the Commanders and will be hoping to bounce back from a muted NFL debut in the Packers' Week 1 win over the Lions this past Sunday, when he was held to two catches for 16 yards on two targets.
Sep 8, 2025
Limited by ankle issue
Golden was listed as limited on Monday's practice estimate due to an ankle injury, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Packers' Week 1 injury report also featured three wide receivers, but Week 2's initial version has Golden swapping in for fellow rookie Savion Williams, while Jayden Reed (foot, DNP) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf, LP) remain listed. On a positive note, Golden would have had a cap on his reps if the team had practiced Monday, and he'll have a pair of opportunities to get some more on-field work ahead of Thursday's game against the Commanders. Golden started in his pro debut Sunday versus the Lions and recorded two catches (on two targets) for 16 yards and one punt return for 11 yards while playing 48 percent (23 of 48) of the offensive snaps.
Sep 7, 2025
Just two catches in debut
Golden caught both of his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Golden had a quiet NFL debut as Jordan Love threw for only 188 yards. That total included a pair of touchdown passes, which went to Tucker Kraft and Jayden Reed. With Kraft, Reed and Romeo Doubs -- who led the Packers with 68 receiving yards Sunday -- all featured prominently in the passing game for a run-first Green Bay offense, Golden will have to battle for touches, especially early in the 2025 first-round pick's rookie season. Golden will look to pick up the pace Thursday against the Commanders.
Aug 23, 2025
Makes long catch
Golden made one catch on two targets for 39 yards in Saturday's 20-7 preseason win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Golden played on the first two offensive possessions along with many of Green Bay's top skill-position players, such as Josh Jacobs, Romeo Doubs and Tucker Kraft. He made a long contested catch down the right sideline on a throw from Malik Willis, showcasing his playmaking ability that will be a welcomed addition to the Packers' receiving corps. Golden looks locked into an immediate role as a starting outside receiver heading into a Week 1 matchup against the Lions.
Aug 17, 2025
Doesn't play Saturday
Golden didn't play in Saturday's 23-19 preseason win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Though Golden wasn't one of the 29 Packers listed as not suiting up ahead of the game, the rookie wideout didn't log any snaps against the Colts. Golden's next chance to see game action will occur in this coming Saturday's preseason finale against the Seahawks, but it remains to be seen whether or not Green Bay plans to rest key players in the contest.
Aug 16, 2025
Suiting up Saturday
Golden will play in Saturday's preseason game against the Colts, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Golden will be in the starting lineup Saturday as the top wide receiver available for quarterback Malik Willis, despite starters including RB Josh Jacobs and TE Tucker Kraft being listed as healthy scratches. Across the starting lineup, Green Bay will have multiple players sitting out due to injuries, including Jordan Love (thumb), Jayden Reed (foot), Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Romeo Doubs (back).
Aug 9, 2025
One catch in pro debut
Golden brought in his only target for seven yards during the Packers' 30-10 preseason loss to the Jets on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
The speedy rookie was on the receiving end of Jordan Love's only completion of the night, a seven-yard throw on the Packers' second possession. Golden also drew another target that resulted in a defensive pass interference call against Sauce Gardner. Golden has been getting work with the first-team offense since the early practices of training camp, and his slotting in Saturday's game provides further confirmation he's poised for a meaningful role right out of the gate of his NFL career. Golden and the rest of Green Bay's key offensive players may well see more extended action during next Saturday afternoon's preseason road clash against the Colts.
Jul 28, 2025
Getting some work with starters
Golden caught a deep sideline pass with the first-team offense Monday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a good sign he's getting some snaps with the starters in his first week of training camp, although Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com notes that Golden's impressive catch was followed by a mistimed jump that contributed to an interception. The rookie brings 4.29 speed to a WR room that otherwise has Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks as the top candidates for playing time, with Christian Watson (ACL) potentially joining the mix later in the season.
Apr 24, 2025
Packers add burner wideout in first
The Packers selected Golden in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 23rd overall.
ANALYSIS
Although Golden probably isn't a prototypical WR1 at just 5-foot-11, 191 pounds, he presents a rare speed element that the Packers lack in the meantime. Golden's 4.29 speed was one of the headlining stories at the combine, and with wheels like that defenses have new reason to reconsider placing the safeties too close to the line of scrimmage. Jayden Reed (4.45-second 40) was the fastest remaining base package wideout for the Packers with Christian Watson (ACL) out indefinitely, so Golden is a good bet to jump into the starting lineup at the expense of either one or both of Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks. Golden was an excellent kick returner at Houston and Texas and could be the same for the Packers, but it would be a disappointment if Golden can't push for at least the WR2 role in Green Bay by the end of his rookie season.
