Mike Evans Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Saints vs Buccaneers game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Dec 1, 2025
Could return to practice this week
Coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Evans (collarbone) could begin practicing this week, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans is eligible to come off injured reserve at any moment, but it doesn't sound like a return to game action is in the cards for Week 14 against the Saints. Bowles said Monday that both Evans and Jalen McMillan (neck) "have a little ways to go before playing," according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Tampa Bay hosts New Orleans next Sunday before then having a quick Week 15 turnaround ahead of a date with the Falcons on Thursday, Dec. 11. Perhaps a Week 16 return versus Carolina would make the most sense for both wideouts.
Oct 22, 2025
Placed on IR
The Buccaneers placed Evans (collarbone) on injured reserve Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
A report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport earlier Wednesday suggested that Evans suffered a "clean break" of his collarbone and could be back in eight weeks or fewer. That's optimistic relative to past cases of NFL players returning from collarbone fractures, but it's at least clear that the Bucs have hope to get Evans back later this season. For now, he's officially ruled out for the next four games on injured reserve, with surgery scheduled this week.
Oct 22, 2025
Could return in under eight weeks
Evans is scheduled to undergo surgery this week to address a broken collarbone, for which he faces a recovery timetable of eight weeks or less, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans suffered a clean break to his collarbone during the second quarter of Monday's 24-9 loss to the Lions, and head coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that the star wideout will be "touch and go" to retake the field prior to the end of the regular season, per Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site. It sounds, at least, as though the team is confident Evans will be able to contribute in the postseason, as long as Tampa Bay earns a playoff berth. In the meantime, Chris Godwin (fibula) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Saints, but he could be a candidate to return to action after the Buccaneers' bye in Week 9.
Oct 20, 2025
Suffers broken collarbone
Evans will be sidelined for most of the year after suffering a broken collarbone in Monday's 24-9 loss to the Lions, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Timesreports.
ANALYSIS
Evans suffered the injury in the second quarter of Monday's loss while attempting to reel in a deep target. His absence will be a big blow to the Tampa Bay receiving corps, with Chris Godwin (leg) also banged up. Evans' streak of 11 straight campaigns with 1,000 receiving yards will also come to an end.
Oct 20, 2025
Ruled out with pair of injuries
Evans will not return to Monday's game against the Lions due to concussion and shoulder injuries, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was hurt on an attempted catch deep down the field in the second quarter. He remained on the field for several minutes and was then carted to the locker room after walking to the sideline. Evans was quickly ruled out and is presumably set to undergo imaging to get further information on the shoulderinjury.
Oct 20, 2025
Carted to locker room
Evans suffered a shoulder injury in Monday's game against the Lions, per the ESPN broadcast.
ANALYSIS
Evans attempted to make a deep catch in the second quarter but jarred his upper body off the turf. He was on the field for a few minutes while being attended to by trainers. Evans was ultimately able to walk off the field, but he was seen being carted to the locker room on the broadcast.
Oct 20, 2025
Back in action Monday
Evans (hamstring) is active for Monday's game at Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Evans thus is back in action for the first time since Week 3, when he initially strained his left hamstring. He'll be joined by rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) in Tampa Bay's receiving corps, while Chris Godwin (fibula) won't be available. Both Evans and Egbuka will be priority plays versus a Lions secondary that is down all four starters.
Oct 19, 2025
Likely to play Monday, per report
Evans (hamstring) is likely to play Monday night against the Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
After logging a limited session Thursday and a 'DNP' on Friday, Evans was deemed a full practice participant Saturday before being officially listed as questionable for Monday's contest. While Evans is trending toward a return to action in Week 7, fellow WR Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) has "a real chance to play" versus Detroit, per Schefter, though his status is viewed as a game-time call. In any case, final confirmation of the duo's availability is set to arrive when Tampa Bay's inactives are posted ahead of Monday night's 7:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 18, 2025
Game-time call Monday
Evans (hamstring) was a limited participant in Saturday's practice and is considered a game-time decision for Monday's game against Detroit, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wide receiver was on the field for Saturday's practice after taking a rest day Friday. Evans has not yet been given the green light to make his return from a three-game absence, and he joins rookie Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) as game-time calls for Monday night against the Lions. Chris Godwin (lower leg) has already been ruled out, and with the Bucs playing in the penultimate game of Week 7, fantasy managers won't have as many options at wide receiver to fall back on if one or both of Evans and Egbuka were to ultimately be ruled out. Sterling Shepard, seventh-round rookie Tez Johnson, Ryan Miller, Kameron Johnson and tight end Cade Otton would be in line to see more targets from Baker Mayfield if Evans or Egubka (or both) were to be sidelined.
Oct 17, 2025
No practice Friday
Evans (hamstring) didn't practice Friday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The report notes that Evans may just be getting the day off for maintenance before returning to practice Saturday. He was a limited participant Thursday, making his first practice appearance of any kind since straining his left hamstring in a Week 3 win over the Jets. There's risk of a game-day decision, which would be all the more difficult for fantasy managers with Evans and the Bucs playing on Monday this week (at Detroit).
Oct 16, 2025
Practices in limited capacity
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Evans (hamstring) returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bowles said Tampa Bay will continue to monitor Evans throughout the week before making a decision on his availability, or lack thereof, for Monday Night Football against Detroit. If Evans is able to get back on the field Week 7 after having missed the Buccaneers' last three games it will provide a tremendous boost for Baker Mayfield and the passing attack, especially given that both Emeke Egbuka (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (fibula) could be unavailable. The extent of Evans' practice activity Friday and Saturday figure to be crucial, and it won't be surprising if the final word on his status come down to the wire.
Oct 16, 2025
Likely to practice Thursday
Evans (hamstring) is expected to practice Thursday in some capacity, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans hadn't practiced in any fashion over the past three weeks after suffering a left hamstring strain in a Sept. 21 win over the Jets, but he's finally ready to take the first meaningful step forward in his recovery process by getting back on the field. The Buccaneers' first Week 7 injury report will be released later Thursday and will reveal the extent of Evans' participation, but the veteran wideout may need to turn in a full practice by Saturday in order for the team to feel good about his chances of suiting up Monday in Detroit. If Evans is ultimately cleared to play Week 7, it would be a major boon to a Tampa Bay receiving corps that could be without both Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (fibula).
Oct 13, 2025
Optimism for practice this week
The Bucs are hoping Evans (hamstring) can return to practice this week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
With Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) expected to miss some time and Chris Godwin (fibula) already essentially ruled out for Week 7 by coach Todd Bowles on Monday, the Bucs could really use Evans back in the lineup. Evans was injured in Week 3 and has missed the Bucs' last three contests. At the time of his injury, he was initially given a return timeline of three-to-four weeks, so the veteran wide receiver should be inching closer to a return to the field. Fantasy players will have a better idea of Evans' Week 7 availability later this week, as the Bucs travel to Detroit to face the Lions next Monday night.
Oct 10, 2025
Ruled out
Evans (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Evans hasn't practiced since straining his hamstring Week 3 against the Jets. With Chris Godwin (fibula) also out this week, Sterling Shepard and Tez Johnson are the favorites to take snaps alongside Emeka Egbuka in three-wide formations. The Buccaneers haven't ruled Evans out beyond Sunday, but there also hasn't been any sign/hint of progress yet, leaving him on shaky ground for a Week 7 matchup at Detroit (Mon., Oct. 20).
Oct 9, 2025
Remains spectator for practice
Evans (hamstring) wasn't spotted on the field for Thursday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers haven't officially ruled Evans out from playing in Sunday's game against the 49ers, but all signs point to the wideout missing a third straight contest while he's yet to log any practice activity since suffering a moderate left hamstring strain in a Week 3 win over the Jets. Evans' likely absence this weekend would loom even larger than normal if he ends up being joined in street clothes by fellow wideout Chris Godwin (fibula), who could be at risk of sitting out Sunday after missing his second straight practice Thursday.
Oct 8, 2025
DNP on Wednesday
Evans (hamstring) was a non-participant at Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Evans has yet to log official practice reps since sustaining a moderate left hamstring strain Week 3, but coach Todd Bowles told Greg Auman of Fox Sports on Wednesday that the wide receiver is "coming along. He's healing. I can't tell you how fast or when, but he's healing, and he's working, trying to get back (as) fast as he can." Fellow WR Chris Godwin (fibula) joined Evans on the sidelines to begin Week 6 prep, meaning the health of two of the Buccaneers' top three options at the position are compromised at the moment. Evans has a pair of practices remaining this week to potentially prove the health of his hamstring ahead of Sunday's game against the 49ers.
Oct 3, 2025
Out for Week 5
Coach Todd Bowles officially ruled out Evans (hamstring) for Sunday's game in Seattle, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The decision from Bowles comes as no surprise considering Evans hasn't been able to participate in practice since suffering a moderate left hamstring strain during a Week 3 win against the Jets. His next chance to suit up is Sunday, Oct.12 against the 49ers, while Chris Godwin, rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka and Sterling Shepard will serve as QB Baker Mayfield's primary wide receivers this weekend.
Oct 2, 2025
Still not practicing
Evans (hamstring) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans hasn't been able to practice in any capacity since exiting the Buccaneers' Sept. 21 win over the Jets with a moderate left hamstring strain and is in line to miss a second straight game this Sunday in Seattle. Initial reports shortly after Evans sustained the injury suggested that he would require a 3-to-4-week recovery period, so the 32-year-old is far from a lock to make it back for the Buccaneers' Week 6 matchup with San Francisco. Chris Godwin and Emeka Egbuka should continue to operate as the clear top two options in the Tampa Bay passing game while Evans is on the mend.
Oct 1, 2025
Still no on-field activity
Evans (hamstring) didn't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans made an early exit from the Buccaneers' Week 3 win against the Jets with what eventually was termed a moderate hamstring strain. He's expected to be out multiple weeks as a result, and until he steps back on the practice field, he likely won't be a candidate for active status on game days. Friday's injury report may include an official declaration of Evans' availability for Sunday's game at Seattle after sitting out a Week 4 loss to the Eagles.
Sep 26, 2025
Ruled out for Week 4
Evans (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
He didn't practice this week and is expected to miss multiple games, but the Buccaneers waited until Friday to publicly rule out Evans for this Sunday's game. Fellow Tampa Bay wideout Chris Godwin (hamstring) is listed as questionable, potentially giving the team a quality replacement for Evans in the starting lineup, though Godwin's explosiveness and workload may both be somewhat limited initially.
Sep 25, 2025
No practice Thursday
Evans (hamstring) was a non-participant at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Evans limped off the field in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's game against the Jets and was quickly ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Evans was expected to undergo an MRI, and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Tuesday that the veteran wide receiver was in line to be sidelined for multiple weeks. Kicking off Week 4 prep with back-to-back DNPs implies that Evans is destined to be ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest against the Eagles, which the Buccaneers may do once they post their final practice report of the week Friday.
Sep 24, 2025
Not practicing
Evans (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Reports suggest Evans will miss multiple games, but neither team nor player has actually said anything besides acknowledging his absence from Wednesday's practice. Meanwhile, Chris Godwin (ankle) was a full participant for the first time in 11 months, potentially setting up his 2025 debut Sunday against the Eagles.
Sep 23, 2025
Expected to miss multiple weeks
Evans is expected to miss multiple weeks after injuring his hamstring in Sunday's win over the Jets, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans has been diagnosed with a moderate hamstring strain, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com, and she reports Evans will be sidelined three-to-four weeks. Pelissero notes that Evans' latest hamstring injury isn't as severe as the one that cost him four weeks last season. With Evans looking likely to miss Week 4 against the Eagles, first-round rookie Emeka Egbuka figures to vault into the WR1 role for the Bucs. There's also a real chance Chris Godwin (ankle) makes his season debut against Philadelphia. Sterling Shepard should remain in the slot role for Tampa Bay. Tez Johnson and Ryan Miller are next up on the depth chart at wide receiver.
Sep 22, 2025
Getting MRI on hamstring
Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Evans (hamstring) is slated to undergo an MRI on Tuesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was forced out of Sunday's win over the Jets due to a hamstring issue, and while Bowles said the team is optimistic that the star wideout has escaped with a low-grade injury, a full update on Evans' health won't arrive until after Tuesday's evaluation at the earliest. It remains to be seen whether Evans will be available to suit up Week 4 against the Eagles. On a positive note for the Buccaneers, Chris Godwin (ankle) appears to be nearing a return to the field, and the ascension of rookie first-rounder Emeka Egbuka provides some stability in the passing game.
Sep 21, 2025
Ruled out of Sunday's game
Evans (hamstring) won't return to Sunday's contest versus the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Evans had a visible limp as he made his way to the sideline in the middle of the fourth quarter and was ruled out not long afterward. The Buccaneers are slated to get Chris Godwin (ankle) back in action in the near future, so if Evans' injury ends up being serious, reinforcements are on the way in the receiving corps.
Sep 21, 2025
Suffers hamstring injury
Evans departed Sunday's contest against the Jets due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Evans limped off the field in the middle of the fourth quarter and was considered questionable to return not long afterward. At the time he exited, he'd notched four catches (on eight targets) for 33 yards and one touchdown.
Sep 15, 2025
Another five-catch tally in win
Evans secured five of 11 targets for 56 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-19 win over the Texans on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Evans comfortably led the Buccaneers in targets and also set the pace in receiving yards, albeit by a smaller margin. The Texans did a good job overall disrupting the rhythm between Evans and Baker Mayfield, leading to Evans' second straight five-catch, sub-60-yard effort to open the season. The successful QB-WR duo will look to author their first breakout performance of 2025 when the Buccaneers host the Jets in a Week 3 matchup on Sunday afternoon.
Sep 7, 2025
Modest start to season
Evans brought in five of eight targets for 51 yards in the Buccaneers' 23-20 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans recorded team-high catch and target totals while finishing second in receiving yards to rookie position mate Emeka Egbuka. However, it was the latter and Bucky Irving who ended up on the receiving end of Baker Mayfield's three touchdown passes, leaving Evans with a solid but relatively muted season-opening line. The perennial Pro Bowler could be due for an even bigger workload in a Week 2 road showdown against the Texans on Monday night, Sept. 15.
Aug 14, 2025
Sitting out another preseason game
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Thursday that Evans will not join the rest of the starting offense in suiting up for Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans remains healthy, by all accounts, but Tampa Bay will opt to rest the veteran wideout for a second consecutive preseason contest. It remains to be seen whether Evans will be in consideration to suit up for the Buccaneers' preseason finale against Buffalo on Saturday, Aug. 23, a game that will occur just days after his 32nd birthday. Chris Godwin (ankle) remains on the active/PUP list, but Baker Mayfield will have the benefit of calling upon both rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka and second-year pro Jalen McMillan versus Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Aug 9, 2025
Getting day off Saturday
Evans isn't playing in Saturday's preseason opener versus Tennessee, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans is healthy, but he's being held out Saturday along with fellow offensive regulars Baker Mayfield and Bucky Irving, among others. It's not yet clear how much the team's regular-season starters will play during other preseason contests. Prized rookie Emeka Egbuka should get a good look at wideout Saturday with both Evans and Chris Godwin (ankle) on the sideline.
Aug 2, 2025
Consistently clicking in camp
Evans has made several signature plays throughout the first week-plus of training camp and is benefitting from repeatedly working against starting cornerback Zyon McCollum, Brianna Dix of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The 12-year pro is on a quest to break Jerry Rice's record for most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in 2025, and Evans looks like he's ramping up early for just such a noteworthy campaign. The perennial Pro Bowler has made multiple highlight catches while working with both Baker Mayfield (hand) and Kyle Trask, and he also feels he's benefitting from constantly facing McCollum, a rising star at cornerback with 4.33 speed that recorded 17 defensed passes, including two interceptions, over 17 regular-season games in 2024. "We are sharpening each other's game," described Evans. "He has been my teammate for four seasons now and has come a long way and he is one of the best corners in the game. It is a battle every time we go against each other."
Apr 2, 2025
Clears up cap space
Evans agreed Wednesday to restructure his contract, converting part of his base salary into a bonus, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans' restructured deal will allow Tampa Bay greater room to maneuver as the team continues to work through free agency and prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft. Coming off his 11th consecutive 1,000-yard season, and with teammate Chris Godwin (knee - ACL) having re-signed with the Buccaneers, Evans is primed to run things back with quarterback Baker Mayfield in a familiar -- and ideal -- situation. Evans will turn 32 less than a month before the 2025 regular season kicks off, in what will be a contract year. He's yet to show any signs of slowing down and remains positioned as Mayfield's go-to receiving option, though former offensive coordinator Liam Cohen's departure to take on the Jaguars' head coaching position is notable. Replacing Cohen via the internal promotion of last year's pass-game coordinator, Josh Grizzard, still gives the Buccaneers' offense some amount of continuity at even the coordinator spot.
Jan 12, 2025
Maximizes opportunities in loss
Evans brought in all seven targets for 92 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 23-20 wild-card loss to the Commanders on Sunday night.
ANALYSIS
Frequently facing old nemesis Marshon Lattimore, Evans got the better of the veteran cornerback for once, including on his one-yard touchdown grab just before halftime. Evans finished the night with team-high totals in receptions, receiving yards and targets, a fitting follow-up to a regular season in which recorded 74 catches for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns over 14 games, and in which he tied Jerry Rice's record with an 11th consecutive 1,000-yard season. Evans clearly looks like he has plenty left in the tank as he heads into what is slated to be a contract year in 2025, during which he 's slated to earn $21 million in base salary and account for just over $26 million of the Buccaneers' cap.
Jan 5, 2025
Snags record in postseason clincher
Evans brought in nine of 14 targets for 89 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-19 win over the Saints on Sunday, tying Jerry Rice for most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with 11 such campaigns.
ANALYSIS
It literally came down to the last play of the game, but the Buccaneers, already assured of a victory and postseason spot, designed a short pass for Evans to get him at least the five yards he needed to get to the 1,000-yard mark for the season. The star wideout unsurprisingly finished the afternoon as the Buccaneers' leader in receptions, receiving yards and targets, and he also earned an additional $3 million in incentives by posting at least five catches for 85 yards Sunday. Evans will naturally remain Baker Mayfield's most indispensable target as the Buccaneers begin the postseason in a yet-to-be-determined matchup on Super Wild Card Weekend.
Jan 3, 2025
Needs 85 yards for milestone
Evans needs 85 yards Sunday against the Saints to tie Jerry Rice's record of 11 straight season with 1,000 receiving yards, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In addition to the streak, Evans will earn a $3 million incentive if he catches five or more passes and records 85-plus yards. The Buccaneers aren't necessarily in position to force him the ball given that they need a win to lock up a playoff spot, but that could change in the second half if they pull away from the injury-riddled Saints. Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield said he's thinking about the milestone more than Evans is and believes the wideout will get the necessary numbers.
Dec 29, 2024
Inches closer to 1,000-yard season
Evans secured eight of nine targets for 97 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 48-14 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans and Baker Mayfield were clicking right from the onset of the high-scoring win, with the veteran wideout securing a pair of grabs on the game-opening six-play drive and capping off the possession with a two-yard touchdown. Evans subsequently recorded a one-yard scoring grab in the second quarter to lock in his fourth season with double-digit touchdown catches in the last five campaigns, and he'll need to record a manageable 85 receiving yards in the Week 18 home matchup against the Saints to tie Jerry Rice with 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons.
Dec 22, 2024
Five catches in loss
Evans caught five of eight targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 26-24 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Evans led the team in receiving yards despite catching only one pass in the second half. The star wide receiver has produced at least 68 receiving yards in five consecutive games since missing three due to a hamstring injury. He needs 182 receiving yards over Tampa Bay's last two games, starting with Week 17 against the Panthers, to reach 1,000 receiving yards for the 11th time in as many NFL regular seasons.
Dec 15, 2024
Tears top off defense Sunday
Evans had nine receptions on 11 targets for 159 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 40-17 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Evans showed no ill effects from the hamstring injury that limited him during the practice week, ripping off two long touchdown receptions in Sunday's lopsided victory. The nine receptions and 159 yards both marked new highs for the superstar wideout in 2024. Evans likely helped many fantasy managers advance in their respective playoff schedule, and he could be in for an encore against a middling Cowboys squad on Sunday Night Football in Week 16.
Dec 13, 2024
Cleared for Sunday
Evans (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Evans followed the same pattern as last week, returning to practice Friday as a limited participant after missing the prior sessions. His lack of reps seems to be a matter of maintenance rather than inspired by genuine concern about his game availability, considering he took 85 percent of snaps on offense in last week's 28-13 win over the Raiders. Evans should again be busy Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.
Dec 13, 2024
Returns to practice
Evans (hamstring) returned to practice Friday morning, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans had the same routine last week, sitting out Wednesday and Thursday before participating Friday. He then avoided a designation on the final injury report and handled his normal workload in a 28-13 win over the Raiders, catching four of five targets for 69 yards while playing 85 percent of snaps on offense. It remains to be seen if he follows the same pattern this week for a road game against the Chargers.
Dec 12, 2024
Idle for another practice
Evans (hamstring) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans didn't take any reps during Wednesday's walk-through session and looks set to be listed as a non-participant on the Buccaneers' second straight practice report. While the lack of activity at this stage of the week is normally a worrisome sign for a player's chances of playing Sunday, Evans started Week 14 prep in a similar fashion before suiting up for Tampa Bay's 28-13 win over Las Vegas and finishing with four catches for 69 yards on five targets while playing 85 percent of the offensive snaps. If he continues to mirror his participation from last week, Evans will be limited in Friday's session, which could be enough for him to avoid carrying a designation into Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Dec 11, 2024
Misses Wednesday's walkthrough
Evans (hamstring) didn't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans continues to be bothered by a hamstring issue that sidelined him Weeks 8-10, but he's been able to play through it over the last three contests, accounting for 17 catches (on 23 targets) for 255 yards and one touchdown. He's clearly the centerpiece of the Buccaneers' passing game when he's available, but his status now will be watched as the week goes on to get a sense of his odds to play Sunday at the Chargers.
Dec 8, 2024
Four catches in win
Evans secured four of five targets for 69 yards in the Buccaneers' 28-13 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans tied Sterling Shepard and Jalen McMillan for the team lead in receptions while checking in second in receiving yards. The veteran wideout got a big chunk of his production on a 32-yard grab, which was the second longest of the game for the Buccaneers. Evans has eclipsed 60 receiving yards in three straight games heading into a Week 15 road battle against the Chargers.
Dec 6, 2024
Cleared for Week 14
Evans (hamstring/calf) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was a limited practice participant Friday after sitting out the previous two days. It seems his absences were a matter of maintenance rather than reflecting genuine concern about his Week 14 availability. Evans put up an 8-112-1 receiving line against Carolina last week in his second game back from a hamstring injury.
Dec 6, 2024
Practicing Friday
Evans (hamstring/calf) is practicing Friday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
His participation after back-to-back absences suggests Evans has a decent chance to play this Sunday against the Raiders. He'll likely have a designation on the final injury report Friday afternoon.
Dec 5, 2024
No practice Thursday
Evans (hamstring/calf) officially didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Evans thus has just one more chance to mix into drills during Week 14 prep as he deals with dueling health concerns. The 11th-year pro doesn't necessarily require practice reps in order to be ready for game day, but his listing on Friday's injury report will be of interest in advance of Sunday's contest against the Raiders.
Dec 5, 2024
Missing from practice
Evans (hamstring/calf) wasn't spotted on the field during the portion of Thursday's practice that was open to the media, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Evans was a non-participant during Wednesday's practice, his continued absence Thursday perhaps suggests that he wasn't merely getting a maintenance day to begin Week 14 prep. Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles could shed more light on Evans' condition later Thursday, but for now, the star wideout's status bears close attention as Sunday's game against the Raiders approaches. Evans will have one more opportunity Friday to potentially fit in some practice activity before the weekend.
Dec 4, 2024
Tending to two health concerns
Evans didn't practice Wednesday due to hamstring and calf injuries.
ANALYSIS
Evans was sidelined Weeks 8-10 due to a strained right hamstring, so its mention may be a residual of that injury. But with a pair of lower-body issues in tow, his status will be watched as the week goes on to see if he may be in danger off missing another contest.
Dec 1, 2024
First 100-yard game of 2024
Evans recorded eight receptions on 12 targets for 118 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-23 overtime win against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Evans began his performance with a highlight-reel two-yard touchdown catch late in the first quarter and operated as Baker Mayfield's top target from there. On top of the impressive grab in the end zone, Evans also topped the century mark for the first time in 2024 thanks to lengthy receptions of 27, 21 and 17 yards. He's also unsurprisingly operated as one of Tampa Bay's best offensive weapons near the end zone, as he now has seven touchdowns in nine games on the campaign.
Nov 24, 2024
Team-high yardage total in return
Evans brought in five of six targets for 68 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-7 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Making his return from a three-game absence due to a hamstring injury, Evans finished with a game-high receiving yardage total while checking in second in both receptions and targets. The veteran wideout looked as healthy as he proclaimed he was coming into the game and contributed a 26-yard grab among his five catches. Evans, whose catch and yardage totals Sunday were his highest since Week 4, will next take aim at a vulnerable Panthers defense in a Week 13 road divisional battle.
Nov 24, 2024
Back in action Sunday
Evans (hamstring) is listed as active Sunday at the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Evans is suiting up for the first time since Week 7 due to a right hamstring injury that he aggravated in that contest. He followed an LP/FP/LP regimen in his return to practice this past week, so there's a chance he isn't all the way back to normal in Sunday's game. On the other hand, fellow WR Chris Godwin is out for the rest of the season due to a dislocated left ankle, so Evans is a decent bet to be on the receiving end of many Baker Mayfield passes. Evans requires 665 receiving yards over the final seven contests of the campaign in order to attain an 11th straight 1,000-yard season.

On track for Sunday
Evans (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Giants, is on track to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
This was essentially expected as Evans suggested earlier in the month that he was anticipating returning following the team's Week 11 bye. Fantasy managers will need to confirm the veteran's status ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET, but should the 31-year-old be officially cleared he'll likely be extremely motivated to continue his 1,000-yard receiving streak that dates back to his debut in 2014.
Nov 22, 2024
Questionable for Week 12
Evans (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at the Giants, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans missed the three contests before the Buccaneers' Week 11 bye due to the right hamstring strain that he aggravated during a Week 7 loss to the Ravens. Coming out of the midseason respite, he sandwiched a pair of limited practices around Thursday's full session, but there remains a question mark about his potential to return this weekend. Coach Todd Bowles told Laine earlier Friday that Evans will play Sunday "as long as he's healthy and fresh," something that'll be confirmed, one way or another, approximately 90 minutes before a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 21, 2024
Logs full practice Thursday
Evans (hamstring) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Evans thus is poised to put an end to a three-game absence due to the strained right hamstring that he aggravated during a Week 7 loss the Ravens. With fellow WR Chris Godwin (ankle) out for the season, Evans will be the unquestioned top target for QB Baker Mayfield moving forward as he looks to build upon the 26-335-6 line on 45 targets that he's put up so far this season.
Nov 20, 2024
Limited in return to practice
Evans (hamstring) officially was limited at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Coach Todd Bowles relayed to Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site earlier Wednesday that Evans was trending toward a return to action for Sunday's visit to the Giants. A capped showing to begin Week 12 prep indicates Evans will ramp up his workload as the week continues, meaning his activity will be monitored closely to ensure Bowles' thoughts become a reality this weekend. In the end, Evans is seeking his first game action since aggravating a right hamstring strain Week 7 versus the Ravens, which so far has sidelined him for three contests.
Nov 20, 2024
Trending toward return in Week 12
Coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that Evans (hamstring) is trending toward a return to action Sunday at the Giants, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After Evans aggravated a strained right hamstring Week 7 against the Ravens, Bowles relayed that the wide receiver would miss the three games before Tampa Bay's Week 11 bye. There was an expectation that Evans would be available after the team's midseason respite, but he'll need to get through this week unscathed in order to do so. He was seen on the field during Monday's unofficial practice coming out of the bye, and his listing on Wednesday's injury report could be telling for his upcoming availability.
Nov 18, 2024
Takes field for practice
Evans (hamstring) was spotted on the field Monday during the portion of the Buccaneers' practice that was open to the media, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming out of their Week 11 bye, the Buccaneers held a bonus practice Monday, but the team won't issue its first official Week 12 practice report until Wednesday. Evans missed the Buccaneers' last three games due to a right hamstring strain, but the club's decision not to place him on injured reserve implied that he was expected to return to action this coming Sunday against the Giants. Evans' ability to practice in any capacity Monday is a good sign that he's on track for a Week 12 return.
Nov 10, 2024
Eyeing return after Week 11 bye
Evans (hamstring) said that he's optimistic that he'll be available to play Week 12 against the Giants on Nov. 24 following Tampa Bay's Week 11 bye, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. "Obviously, everybody knows the competitor that I am, and they know I want to be out there with my team and help us win ballgames," Evans said. "But I can't rush it, and I'll be back when I'm back, and hopefully that'll be after the bye week and I'll be myself."
ANALYSIS
Evans strained his right hamstring in an Oct. 21 loss to the Ravens and will miss his third game in a row Sunday against the 49ers, though he suggested that it "would have been close" for him to play this weekend if he had rehabbed the injury more aggressively. Instead, the Buccaneers elected to take a more cautious approach with Evans, who should be tracking toward a return if he's able to resume practicing in Week 12 without any setbacks. While both Evans and Chris Godwin (ankle) have been sidelined for the past two contests, tight end Cade Otton has emerged as more of a focal point in the passing game with 21 targets between those two games.
Nov 6, 2024
Working out off to side Wednesday
Evans (hamstring) was spotted working out off to the side with a trainer during Wednesday's walk-through practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers are still planning on holding Evans out for a third straight game this Sunday against the 49ers, but his presence at practice -- albeit without any involvement in drills -- bodes well for his chances of being ready to return to the lineup following the team's Week 11 bye. While playing the last two games without Evans and Chris Godwin (ankle), quarterback Baker Mayfield has relied more heavily on tight end Cade Otton (21 targets) and has spread the ball around among the Buccaneers' available wideouts.
Oct 22, 2024
Coach confirms three-game absence
Head coach Todd Bowles confirmed Tuesday that Evans will likely remain out through the Buccaneers' Week 11 bye due to a "moderate" right hamstring injury, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay isn't placing Evans on injured reserve, with the team seemingly hopeful that he'll be able to avoid a four-game absence and instead miss just three games due to the hamstring injury he aggravated in the first half of Monday's loss to the Ravens. If all goes well in Evans' recovery, the expectation is that he'll be ready to play coming out of the bye week and make his return to the lineup Nov. 24 versus the Giants. Meanwhile, Bowles confirmed that Chris Godwin (ankle) will undergo surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the season, so quarterback Baker Mayfield will be without his top two targets for at least the next three games.
Oct 22, 2024
Likely to miss next three games
Evans (hamstring) isn't expected to be available for the Buccaneers until after the team's Week 11 bye, JC Allen of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans aggravated a right hamstring injury in the second quarter of Monday's 41-31 loss to the Ravens and was sent in for an MRI on Tuesday. The Buccaneers haven't yet provided an update on the results of Evans' imaging, but Allen's report suggests that the team isn't counting on the star wideout suiting up for any of their next three games. The timing of Evans' injury is especially tough for the Buccaneers with fellow wideout Chris Godwin having suffered a dislocated ankle late in Monday's contest that will likely require season-ending surgery. Assuming Evans and Godwin are both sidelined beginning with this Sunday's game against the Falcons, Jalen McMillan, Trey Palmer and Sterling Shepard could all be primed to see extended snaps. The injuries to Evans and Godwin could also motivate the Buccaneers to trade for another receiver in advance of the Nov. 5 deadline.
Oct 22, 2024
MRI coming Tuesday
Evans (hamstring) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was nursing a right hamstring injury heading into Monday's game, but he returned to practice Saturday and avoided a designation for the Week 7 contest. After catching a 25-yard touchdown early in the first quarter, Evans dropped another potential scoring strike from Baker Mayfield midway through the second quarter, aggravating the hamstring injury in the process. He was ruled out for the night soon after, and the MRI on Tuesday should help clarify the extent of the setback while providing an early indication of whether he'll be able to play this Sunday against the Falcons. The Buccaneers could be without both of their top two receivers in Week 8, as Chris Godwin suffered a dislocated ankle late in Monday's loss that will likely require season-ending surgery. Jalen McMillan, Trey Palmer and Sterling Shepard are the next men up at receiver for Tampa Bay and could all be in store for enhanced roles against Atlanta even if Evans is cleared to play.
Oct 21, 2024
Will not return
Evans (hamstring) will not return to Monday's matchup with the Ravens, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans failed to convert his second touchdown of the evening and actually aggravated his right hamstring injury in the process. In his absence, Jalen McMillan will likely fill in opposite Chris Godwin, while Sterling Shepard and Trey Palmer should also see increased opportunities.
Oct 21, 2024
Exits to locker room
Evans appears to have aggravated his right hamstring in Monday's matchup with the Ravens, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans failed to bring in his second touchdown of the night and came up holding his previously injured right hamstring. He subsequently left with trainers to the locker room. It remains to be seen if the star pass catcher will be able to return. While he is sidelined, Jalen McMillan figures to be the prime beneficiary, while Sterling Shepard and Trey Palmer could also see some extra snaps.
Oct 19, 2024
No injury designation for Monday
Evans (hamstring) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Monday's matchup against the Ravens, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
There was mummering that Evans could end up being a game-time decision for Monday's primetime contest, but the veteran is arguably one of the most durable players in the league and will play through the injury. Evans and company could be poised for an aerial assault given the Ravens allow the fewest rushing yards to opposing teams.
Oct 19, 2024
Practicing Saturday
Evans was spotted participating in practice Saturday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers will announce Evans' official injury status later in the afternoon Saturday, but the report indicates this is certainly a positive sign for the veteran's status entering Monday's clash against the Ravens. Expect a more detailed update to arrive in the coming hours.
Oct 18, 2024
Limited to side work Friday
Evans (hamstring) didn't practice Friday, but he worked with a trainer on a side field, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
It isn't clear if Evans did any running, as the video clip with the trainer only shows him stretching. Coach Todd Bowles revealed Thursday that Evans has a lingering lower-body injury, which probably explains why his snap share dropped to 54 percent and his route share to 68 percent in a 51-27 win over the Saints on Sunday. Back-to-back absences from practice have him looking uncertain for Monday's game against Baltimore -- a team that's given up big-time production to perimeter receivers this season.
Oct 17, 2024
Tending to hamstring issue
Evans officially didn't practice Thursday due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Evans was in and out of this past Sunday's 51-27 win at New Orleans, but no health concern was reported during or after the contest. Coach Todd Bowles told Greg Auman of Fox Sports earlier Thursday that Evans wasn't going to practice due to a lingering leg injury, which since has been clarified as a hamstring issue. Bowles also noted Evans is expected to practice Friday and/or Saturday, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. How Evans fares in those sessions like will determine if the Buccaneers tag him with a designation ahead of Monday's game versus the Ravens.
Oct 17, 2024
Misses practice with leg injury
Evans was held out of Thursday's practice with a nagging leg injury, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles suggested Thursday that Evans aggravated a prior injury during Sunday's 51-27 win over the Saints, which may explain why the wideout played only 44 percent of snaps after halftime. He wasn't on the injury report last week, but back in Week 5 the Bucs listed him with knee and calf injuries (which didn't stop Evans from scoring two TDs against Atlanta). Bowles said Evans is already making progress and should return to practice before Monday's game against the Ravens, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Oct 13, 2024
Another tough day vs. Saints
Evans brought in two of six targets for 34 yards in the Buccaneers' 51-27 win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
As has often been par for the course in his encounters with arch-nemesis Marshon Lattimore and the Saints, Evans finished the way with lackluster numbers. The veteran wideout also appeared to suffer an injury during the second quarter and even headed to the locker room, per Spencer Urquhart of NOLA.com, but he eventually returned to the game. Evans will aim to bounce back from his second-lowest receiving yardage total of the season when the Buccaneers tangle with the Ravens in a Week 7 home showdown on Monday night, Oct. 21.
Oct 4, 2024
Pair of TD grabs in OT loss
Evans secured five of seven targets for 62 yards and two touchdowns and recovered a fumble in the Buccaneers' 36-30 overtime loss to the Falcons on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Evans hit pay dirt from two and 23 yards out in the first and second quarters, respectively, his fourth and fifth touchdowns of the season. However, the veteran wideout posted just three receptions for 37 yards as far as his non-scoring catches, although he had a key recovery of a Chris Godwin fumble just past the midway point of the third quarter following a 20-yard reception, keeping the ball for the Buccaneers on a drive that culminated in a field goal. Evans will head into a Week 6 road matchup against the Saints on Sunday, Oct. 13 still in search of his first 100-yard game of the campaign.
Oct 2, 2024
Set for TNF
Evans (knee/calf) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game at Atlanta, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was a non-participant at Monday's walkthrough due to knee and calf injuries, but he followed it up with a limited walkthrough Tuesday and capped session Wednesday, thereby paving the way for him to suit up Week 5. He's coming off his most-productive outing of the season this past Sunday against the Eagles in which he hauled in eight of 14 targets for 94 yards and one touchdown.
Oct 1, 2024
Upgrades to limited practice
Evans (knee/calf) was limited in Tuesday's walk-through practice, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was listed as a non-participant Monday, so it's encouraging to see him upgrade his participation level Tuesday, even if Tampa Bay is hosting another walk-through session. The star wideout figures to have a good chance to suit up for Thursday's divisional matchup against the Falcons, barring any setbacks, even if he ultimately carries an injury designation into the contest. If Evans can upgrade to a 'full' practice session Wednesday, however, it will mitigate any concerns about his health. The veteran wideout is coming off a 8-94-1 receiving line on 14 targets during Week 4's win over the Eagles, in which he tallied season-best marks in terms of catches, yards and targets.
Sep 30, 2024
Misses practice Monday
Evans (knee/calf) is listed as a non-participant on Monday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers are only hosting a walk-through practice Monday, per Scott Smith of the team's official site, but it's nonetheless notable to see 'DNP' next to Evans' name. The veteran wideout is dealing with knee and calf injuries, though it's possible that Tampa Bay is simply capping his practice reps with a short week of rest on deck prior to Thursday's key divisional matchup against the Falcons. Evans logged his best game of the 2024 season during the Buccaneers' 33-16 win over the Eagles on Sunday, in which he secured eight of 14 targets for 94 yards and one touchdown while playing 78 percent of offensive snaps.
Sep 29, 2024
Paces pass catchers in win
Evans secured eight of 14 targets for 94 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 33-16 win over the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans led the Buccaneers across the board in receptions, receiving yards and targets with totals that were also season highs. Evans also recorded his third touchdown of the campaign on a two-yard grab to cap off the opening possession of the contest, making it his best all-around game in new coordinator Liam Coen's offense. Evans next faces a familiar foe in the Falcons during a Week 4 road divisional matchup on Thursday night.
Sep 27, 2024
Good to go
Evans (knee/rest) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Evans didn't practice Friday, but the addition of 'rest' to his injury explanation suggests his absence was a matter of caution. Chris Godwin (neck) also avoided an injury designation, while No. 3 receiver Jalen McMillan is listed as doubtful after injuring his hamstring during Friday's practice.
Sep 26, 2024
Remains limited Thursday
Evans (knee) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The same goes for position mate Chris Godwin (neck), with both players operating with a cap on their practice reps so far during Week 4 prep. Friday's injury report thus will be key for both players' statuses heading into the weekend as the Buccaneers gear up for Sunday's matchup with the Eagles.
Sep 25, 2024
Dealing with knee issue
Evans was limited at practice Wednesday due to a knee injury, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Evans and Chris Godwin (neck) opened Week 4 prep with the same amount of on-field work, placing a cloud over the statuses of Tampa Bay's top two wide receivers. The pair will have two chances to get back to all activity this week before the team potentially tags them with designations ahead of Sunday's contest against the Eagles.
Sep 22, 2024
Stymied by Broncos in loss
Evans brought in two of three targets for 17 yards in the Buccaneers' 26-7 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans' final line tells the tale of how difficult an afternoon it was for the Buccaneers' offense as a whole, particularly the air attack. With Baker Mayfield taking seven sacks and averaging only 4.9 yards per attempt, Evans' numbers unsurprisingly took a hit. The star wideout's reception, receiving yardage and target numbers were all season lows, giving him plenty of room for improvement in a Week 4 home matchup against the Eagles.
Sep 15, 2024
Modest showing in Week 2 win
Evans caught three of six targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Evans had just one catch for 16 yards on two first-half targets, as eight of Baker Mayfield's 12 passes before halftime were directed to Chris Godwin. Evans was actually Tampa Bay's leading receiver after halftime but that production didn't amount to much, as the veteran wide receiver cooled off after a two-touchdown Week 1 performance. He has just 103 receiving yards heading into a Week 3 date with a Broncos secondary led by star cornerback Patrick Surtain.
Sep 8, 2024
Scores twice in lopsided win
Evans caught five of six targets for 61 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 37-20 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Evans finished third in receiving yards for the Buccaneers while finishing with the most fantasy points after scoring twice in the win. The superstar wideout is fresh off of a contract extension and looks to be in sync with starting quarterback Baker Mayfield to kick things off this fantasy campaign. Evans will face a stiffer test in terms of defensive backs when the Bucs face the Lions next Sunday, but the WR1 should always crack starting fantasy lineups so long as he is 100 percent healthy.
Aug 23, 2024
Will be rested Friday
Evans isn't in line to play in Friday's preseason finale against the Dolphins, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Smith, coach Todd Bowles told the Buccaneers Radio Network that neither Evans nor LB Lavonte David will face Miami in the team's final exhibition contest. However, the duo's absence is not injury-related, rather it's a case of them getting the night off, like a 'veteran' day in practice. Evans' next game action will thus occur when he lines up in Tampa Bay's starting lineup against the Commander on Sept. 8.
Jul 28, 2024
Reignites connection with Mayfield
Evans' chemistry with Baker Mayfield has been evident early in the Buccaneers' training camp, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans displayed plenty of rapport with Mayfield right out of the gate in their first year playing together in 2023, posting a 17-297 line while also recording a touchdown apiece in the Buccaneers' first three regular-season games. The veteran wideout, who re-signed with Tampa Bay this offseason, wasted no time flashing the same chemistry with Mayfield early in training camp with several impressive catches over the first trio of practices, and he's in line to once again serve as no less than a co-No. 1 receiver alongside Chris Godwin in 2024.
Mar 4, 2024
Re-signs with Bucs
Evans and the Buccaneers reached agreement Monday morning on a two-year, $52 million contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Reports a few days earlier suggested Evans would hit free agency, but he ended up re-signing with the Buccaneers instead and will continue playing for the team that drafted him seventh overall in 2014. He'll turn 31 in August, having topped 1,000 yards in a record-setting 10 straight seasons to open his career, including 2023 when he had his most catches (79), yards (1,255) and targets (136) since 2018 while tying for the league lead in receiving touchdowns (13). The Buccaneers can now focus on re-signing their other prominent free agents, including QB Baker Mayfield, S Antoine Winfield and LB Lavonte David.
Mar 1, 2024
To test free agency
Evans plans to hit free agency for the first time in his career, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
While Evans and the Buccaneers remain in contract discussions, the veteran pass catcher wants to explore his options. Thus, it does not mean his time in Tampa Bay is over, but rather, that he plans on hearing from all teams before making a decision. The 30-year-old has been with the team for all 10 years of his NFL seasons and is coming off a campaign where he recorded 1,255 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
Feb 28, 2024
Teams seem committed to return
The Buccaneers appear committed to re-signing Evans before the start of free agency, even if there is a financial strain on the team's cap situation, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. "He's an unprecedented player. We want him to be a Buc for life. We're working towards that," general manager Jason Licht said Tuesday at the NFL Combine.
ANALYSIS
Licht admitted the team would probably have to "strain a little bit" to reach a deal palatable to Evans, who's coming off his 10th consecutive 1,000-yard season. The perennial Pro Bowler also recorded 13 touchdowns in 2023 -- tying for the league lead. "Mike did a heck of a job and he came to work every day," coach Todd Bowles said. "He has been very consistent, very dynamic, yet he's very humble off the field. He's one of my favorite players. I have a lot of respect for Mike and everything he does..."
Feb 19, 2024
Free agency looking likelier
The Buccaneers are not expected to re-sign Evans by Monday's 'soft' deadline, which will force the team to take on $7.4 million in dead cap space, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans and Tampa Bay will continue contract negotiations in the meantime, but as things stand, the passing of Monday's deadline makes it look more realistic that the 30-year-old wideout ends up on the free agent market. The Buccaneers also have the option of placing the franchise tag on Evans, though that would cost the team a whopping $28.4 million for 2024, and rule out other tag options like Baker Mayfield and Antoine Winfield. Evans has put together 10 straight seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards and been instrumental to each iteration of Tampa Bay's offense to burgeon forth in that stretch, so whether he receives his next contract from the Buccaneers or a team on the open market, expect his compensation to be remunerative.
Feb 7, 2024
Likely to stay in Tampa?
New Bucs offensive coordinator Lian Coen made it clear Tuesday that he's hopeful the team will re-sign Evans, an impending free agent, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans and QB Baker Mayfield have expiring contracts, and WR Chris Godwin is scheduled for $20 million in non-guaranteed compensation for the final year of his deal in 2024. The possibility of significant change can't be ignored, but Coen's opening press conference left little doubt that part of his motivation for taking the Tampa Bay job was an expectation the gang would be kept together. The former Rams and Kentucky offensive coordinator talked about how much easier it is to design an offense with a downfield, perimeter threat like Evans, also mentioning that he plans to move Godwin back to the slot as his primary alignment. A franchise tag for Evans would cost $28.4 million -- 120 percent of his 2023 cap charge -- while Mayfield's tag number likely would be around $35 million. The Bucs have a third candidate for the tag in 25-year-old safety Antoine Winfield, whose salary would be about $17 million. Re-signing Evans first would help the team's short-term cap flexibility, allowing the Bucs to shift much of h
Jan 21, 2024
Over century mark in playoff loss
Evans secured eight of 12 targets for 147 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 31-23 divisional-round loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After a relatively quiet night in the wild-card win over the Eagles, Evans reassumed his usual role as the clear-cut top target for Baker Mayfield, finishing with team-high figures across the board for the Buccaneers' pass catchers on the day. The highly decorated veteran also delivered a clutch 16-yard touchdown grab with 4:37 remaining to bring Tampa Bay within one possession, and he was also the intended target on the subsequent two-point conversion attempt that fell short on a play where there was contact between Evans and the defensive back. A disappointing conclusion to the season doesn't take away from the fact Evans looked as effective as ever in 2023, finishing with a 79-1,255-13 line across 17 regular-season games. With his reception and yardage totals his highest since 2018, Evans, a pending free agent, figures to command a lucrative new contract from either the Bucs or on the open market this offseason.
Jan 16, 2024
Trio of catches in wild-card win
Evans secured three of seven targets for 48 yards in the Buccaneers' 32-9 wild-card win over the Eagles on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Evans finished third in receptions and fourth in receiving yards despite garnering the second-most targets on the night for Tampa Bay, an unfamiliar level of inefficiency for the multi-time Pro Bowler. However, Evans finished strong with 19- and eight-yard grabs on Tampa Bay's final drive, and he also was partly responsible for his modest night by dropping what looked like a perfectly thrown ball just past the midway point of the first quarter. Evans should be heavily involved again when the Buccaneers face the Lions on the road in a divisional-round matchup Sunday afternoon, a game in which Tampa Bay's air attack figures to play an integral part.
Jan 7, 2024
Three catches in season-ending win
Evans brought in three of eight targets for 22 yards in the Buccaneers' 9-0 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans logged a pair of receptions for 16 yards on the Buccaneers' first two plays from scrimmage but was then almost shut out the rest of the way. The multi-time Pro Bowler's yardage total was his second lowest of the campaign, and he finished the season just one catch short of reaching the 80-yard mark for the first time since 2018. Nevertheless, Evans could have an opportunity to see a boost in production against the struggling Eagles secondary in a home wild-card matchup next weekend.
Jan 1, 2024
Solid numbers in loss
Evans brought in three of four targets for 70 yards in the Buccaneers' 23-13 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans didn't have to deal with the pesky coverage of Marshon Lattimore (ankle), but he was still largely contained by the Saints and gained half his yardage on one reception. The perennial Pro Bowler has recorded at least 70 receiving yards in four of the last six games, however, and while Sunday's target total was his second lowest of the season, he should see more passes come his way in a Week 18 road finale against the Panthers that gives the Buccaneers a chance to clinch the NFC South.
Dec 24, 2023
Another two touchdowns Sunday
Evans brought in seven of eight targets for 86 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 30-12 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans was back in the customary position of leading the Bucs in reception and receiving yards while also paying multiple visits to the end zone for the second time this season. The veteran wideout has eight scores overall in his last seven contests, making him a premium fantasy option for a Week 17 home divisional clash with the Saints.
Dec 17, 2023
Another TD grab in win
Evans brought in four of six targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 34-20 win over the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans played a rare second fiddle to Chris Godwin for the second straight game, although in contrast to Week 14, the gulf between the two players' numbers was expansive. Nevertheless, Evans was able to round out his fantasy day nicely with his 11th touchdown of the campaign, which came on a 19-yard grab early in the second quarter. Evans has followed up a 7-162-1 line in Week 13 against the Panthers with just five receptions for 65 yards in his next two games, but he'll look to bounce back against the Jaguars' inconsistent secondary in a Week 16 home matchup against the Jaguars on Christmas Eve.
Dec 10, 2023
Atypically quiet showing Sunday
Evans brought in one of six targets for eight yards in the Buccaneers' 29-25 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans' final line was extremely out of the norm for the talented receiver, who's consistently served as Baker Mayfield's top target all season. The perennial Pro Bowler hadn't posted any fewer than three catches or 39 yards in any game prior to Sunday this season, and he was coming off an explosive 7-162-1 line against the Panthers in Week 13. Evans may have an uphill battle bouncing back in notable fashion in a Week 15 road matchup against a talented Packers secondary.
Dec 4, 2023
Makes history in Week 13 win
Evans caught seven of 12 targets for 162 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-18 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The future Hall of Famer produced the longest TD of his career in the third quarter, taking a Baker Mayfield pass 75 yards to the house. With the big performance, Evans has reached 1,000 receiving yards for the 10th straight season, something only Jerry Rice has done in NFL history. Evans has also scored double-digit touchdowns for the fifth time, and the 30-year-old wideout isn't slowing down -- his 9.8 yards per target is his best mark since 2019. With the Bucs still in the mix for the NFC South crown, Evans will try to make an impact again in Week 14 versus a Falcons secondary he posted a 6-82-1 line against in Week 7.
Nov 26, 2023
Scores twice in Week 12 loss
Evans brought in six of nine targets for 70 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 27-20 loss to the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans was in the familiar position of leading the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yards and targets, and he rounded out his afternoon with touchdown grabs of one and 23 yards. The big-bodied receiver now has four touchdowns in the last three contests, and he's been at Sunday's yardage tally or higher in three of the last four contests overall. Evans, who's now just 150 yards away from his 10th straight 1,000-yard campaign, next takes aim at the division-rival Panthers in Week 13 home matchup.
Nov 19, 2023
Hauls in red-zone TD in loss
Evans caught five of 12 targets for 43 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-14 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
The veteran receiver was on the other end of a one-yard TD toss from Baker Mayfield right before halftime, but it was otherwise a tough day for Evans despite the fact that he saw a season high in targets. He's been his usual productive self in 2023, scoring seven touchdowns in 10 games including four in the last five contests, and Evans is on pace for his fifth career season with double-digit scores as well as his best receiving yards total since 2018.
Nov 16, 2023
Practices in full Thursday
Evans (quadriceps) logged a full practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After beginning Week 11 prep with a capped session due to a quad injury Wednesday, Evans was uninhibited one day later. He's thus ready to take on a 49ers defense Sunday that has conceded the third-most catches (141) to opposing wide receivers in nine games this season. Evans himself has 43 receptions in the same number of appearances, making him a good bet to continue to produce.
Nov 15, 2023
Dealing with quad issue
Evans was limited at Wednesday's practice by a quadriceps injury.
ANALYSIS
Since late August, Evans has dealt with two different lower-body injuries, first to his groin in the lead up to Week 1 prep before he suffered a hamstring issue Week 4. His availability for game days hasn't been impacted, though, and he continues to put up massive numbers working with a new quarterback in Baker Mayfield. Overall, Evans is on pace for a 10th consecutive 1,000-yard season considering he has 737 yards through nine contests. In the end, his practice reps will need to be monitored this week to make sure he isn't in danger of sitting out Sunday at San Francisco.
Nov 12, 2023
Standout effort in Week 10 win
Evans brought in six of 10 targets for 143 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 20-6 win over the Titans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans led the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yards and targets by a wide margin, and he narrowly missed out on a two-touchdown day due to a rare second-half drop in the end zone. However, Evans more than made up for it, not just with his 22-yard scoring grab late in the third quarter, but via his standout yardage total as well, which qualified as his second highest of the campaign. Evans has now scored in three of the past four contests and therefore carries ample momentum into a Week 11 road showdown against the 49ers.
Nov 5, 2023
Sets pace in receiving yards
Evans secured four of five targets for 87 yards in the Buccaneers' 39-37 loss to the Texans on Sunday. He also recovered a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Evans led the Buccaneers in receiving yards on the afternoon, but his volume was down overall on a day when Baker Mayfield spread the around to seven targets overall. The veteran wideout gained a big chunk of his yards on a 53-yard grab in the fourth quarter that was originally ruled a touchdown before replay determined Evans had been down before breaking the plane of the goal line. Evans' yardage total was his highest since Week 2, and although his two-game touchdown streak was narrowly snapped, he could have a good chance of getting back in the end zone in a favorable Week 10 home matchup against the Titans.
Oct 26, 2023
Salvages night with score
Evans secured three of six targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 24-18 loss to the Bills on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The perennial Pro Bowler was contained effectively by the Bills secondary most of the night, with his 24-yard scoring grab with 2:44 remaining preventing his night from being a washout on the fantasy end. Evans' reception total tied for his lowest of the season, and he accrued what were his fewest yards in any contest this season as well. Evans does now have a touchdown in five of seven games, a favorable pattern he'll look to extend at the expense of the Texans in a Week 9 road matchup on Sunday, Nov. 5.
Oct 22, 2023
Tallies fourth touchdown
Evans recorded six receptions on eight targets for 82 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Evans was out-targeted by Chris Godwin in a full game for the first time this season, though that didn't prevent him from having a strong performance. He delivered a 40-yard touchdown reception deep down the left sideline on Tampa Bay's second offensive possession and also chipped in a 16-yard reception in the second quarter to account for the majority of his production. Though Evans has only one 100-yard performance this season, he now has four touchdowns and has at least eight targets in five of his six games.
Oct 15, 2023
Disappoints despite 10 targets
Evans recorded four receptions on 10 targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 20-6 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Evans returned from a hamstring injury after Tampa Bay's bye, an issue that cost him the second half of the team's Week 4 matchup against the Saints. After displaying strong rapport with Baker Mayfield early this season, the duo was off in this matchup as Evans dropped an open target that hit him in the hands while a pass that could have gone for a potentially long gain was deflected at the line of scrimmage and resulted in an interception. Though it was a disappointing outcome, Evans remains the top target of Mayfield, as he tallied 10 targets compared to Chris Godwin's seven.
Oct 13, 2023
Gains clearance for Week 6
Evans (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Evans tweaked his hamstring in the Buccaneers' Week 4 win over the Saints, but a well-timed Week 5 bye appears to have allowed the veteran wideout to make enough progress in his recovery to return to action without missing any games. The 30-year-old steadily increased his practice activity throughout the week, advancing from no participation Wednesday to limited work Thursday before taking every rep in Friday's session. He should be able to take on a normal snap count Sunday while Tampa Bay takes aim at a Detroit secondary that will be without one of its top three cornerbacks in Emmanuel Moseley (knee), who suffered a season-ending ACL tear last week.
Oct 13, 2023
Expected to play
Coach Todd Bowles said Friday that Evans (hamstring) is a "full go" for Sunday's game against the Lions, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans returned to a limited practice Thursday before upgrading to full participation Friday. He's on track to play, with the biggest question at this point being whether the Bucs officially list him as questionable or simply remove him from the final injury report Friday afternoon.
Oct 12, 2023
Returns to limited practice
Evans (hamstring) officially was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Per Greg Auman of Fox Sports, Evans didn't make an appearance in the portion of Thursday's session open to the media, but the veteran wide receiver evidently logged some on-field work at some point. Auman also noted that coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that the key day for Evans during Week 6 prep will be Friday with regard to the hamstring injury that has lingered since he got injured Week 4. Consequently, how Evans is listed on Friday's practice report will be key for his potential to play Sunday against the Lions.
Oct 12, 2023
Sits out another practice
Evans (hamstring) won't participate in Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
A hamstring injury forced Evans out early in the Buccaneers' Week 4 win over the Saints, and despite having a Week 5 bye to continue healing, the wideout still isn't fully healthy. He's now missed both of the Buccaneers' first two practices of Week 6, though head coach Todd Bowles said that what Evans is able to do Friday in terms of running will be more telling with regard to his chances of playing Sunday against the Lions. If Evans needs more time to recover from the injury and sits out Sunday, Chris Godwin would be locked in as the Buccaneers' No. 1 wide receiver, while tight end Cade Otton, running back Rachaad White and wideouts Trey Palmer, Deven Thompkins and Rakim Jarrett could benefit from expanded pass-catching roles.
Oct 11, 2023
DNP to begin week
Evans (hamstring) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Even with the benefit of a Week 5 bye, Evans hasn't made any visible progress through the hamstring injury that forced him to exit early from the Buccaneers' last game on Oct. 1 at New Orleans. Prior to his departure, he had put together a 20-337-3 line on 31 targets in three-and-a-half games, putting him on pace for yet another 1,000-yard campaign. Now, Evans will have two more opportunities to get back on the field before the team potentially makes a ruling on his availability ahead of Sunday's game against the Lions.
Oct 2, 2023
Dealing with tweaked hamstring
Head coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Evans tweaked his hamstring during Sunday's game but didn't provide any further updates, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans caught all three of his targets for 40 yards before leaving the game in the second quarter. It looked like he was going to try and return for the second half, but he was ultiamtely ruled out for the remainder of the contest. While Bowles' comments weren't extensive, they do offer fantasy managers a bit of optimism, as it appears Evans' injury isn't a long-term issue. Further clarity on the star wideout's status for Sunday's matchup against the Lions should be available when Tampa Bay has to release its first injury report of Week 5 prep, which will drop Wednesday.
Oct 1, 2023
Ruled out for rest of game
Evans (hamstring) was downgraded to out and won't return to Sunday's game against the Saints, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans recorded three receptions for 40 yards on three targets before exiting the contest in the second quarter with the hamstring injury. According to Patrick Magee of The New Orleans Times-Picayune, Evans received treatment on the sideline after suffering the injury in anticipation that he might be ready to return for the second half of the contest, but he ultimately didn't feel well enough to continue. The Buccaneers are on bye Week 5, so Evans will have extra time to heal in advance of the team's next game Oct. 15 versus the Lions.
Oct 1, 2023
Tending to hamstring issue
Evans exited Sunday's game at New Orleans due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear how Evans suffered his current health concern, but he had three catches (on three targets) for 40 yards prior to his departure late in the second quarter. In Evans' absence, Trey Palmer, Deven Thompkins and Rakim Jarrett should see increased involvement in the Buccaneers offense alongside Chris Godwin.
Sep 25, 2023
Finds end zone in loss
Evans secured five of 10 targets for 60 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 25-11 loss to the Eagles on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Evans was in the customary position of leading the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yards and targets, and the talented wideout also was on the receiving end of Baker Mayfield's only touchdown toss of the night on a one-yard slant early in the fourth quarter. The multi-time Pro Bowler has clearly been Mayfield's favorite target through three games, even as Monday night's catch and receiving yardage totals were season lows. Evans next sets his sights on longtime arch-nemesis Marshon Lattimore and a tough Saints defense, which await in a Week 4 divisional matchup.
Sep 17, 2023
Stellar numbers in hard-fought win
Evans secured six of eight targets for 171 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 27-17 win over the Bears on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans exploded for his second-highest yardage total since the 2020 season, with a 70-yard catch-and-run play that kicked off the Buccaneers' third possession and took the ball from Tampa Bay's 23-yard line to the shadow of the Bears' goal line. While Evans ran out of gas before reaching the end zone on that play, he made up for it with a key 32-yard scoring grab in the latter portion of the third quarter that extended a 13-10 lead. Evans and Baker Mayfield have flashed excellent chemistry over their first two games, as the multi-time Pro Bowl receiver will go into a Week 3 home matchup against the Eagles on Monday night, Sept. 25 with a 12-237-2 line on 18 targets.
Sep 10, 2023
Finds end zone in Week 1 win
Evans secured six of 10 targets for 66 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 20-17 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans finished as the team leader in receptions, receiving yards and targets, helping Baker Mayfield author an upset victory on the road in his first official game as future Hall of Famer Tom Brady's successor. The multi-time Pro Bowl receiver, who was unable to come to terms on a contract extension with the Buccaneers before the start of the season, recorded an impressive 28-yard touchdown grab with just over a minute left in the first half to begin Tampa Bay's comeback from a 10-3 deficit. Evans should naturally remain one of Mayfield's top targets throughout the season, and he'll have a chance to work with his new quarterback at home for the first time in what could be a favorable Week 2 matchup against the Bears.
Sep 10, 2023
No contract extension
Evans and the Buccaneers did not come to terms on a contract extension before Evans' Saturday deadline, Jay Glazer reported on the Fox Sunday morning pregame show.
ANALYSIS
Evans is a free agent after the season, just turned 30 and is now playing with Baker Mayfield instead of Tom Brady as his quarterback. If he does indeed hit free agency next offseason, he may encounter a similar scenario to DeAndre Hopkins, where he finds the market for his services isn't quite what he expected it to be.
Sep 6, 2023
Puts injury behind him
Evans (groin) wasn't listed on the Buccaneers' first Week 1 injury report Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay held Evans out of the team's exhibition finale due to a groin injury, which appears to be behind him considering his lack of listing on Wednesday's injury report. There's a lingering deadline of Sept. 9 for Evans and the Buccaneers to reach an agreement on a contract extension, as his current deal has three void years starting in 2024. If nothing emerges from those talks, he very well could be playing his 10th and final campaign with the team this fall.
Sep 1, 2023
Puts deadline on contract talks
Evans (groin) has informed the Buccaneers that he will discontinue contract discussions Sept. 9, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The deadline is one day before the Bucs kick off their season with a game in Minnesota. It appears Evans will suit up regardless of the contract situation, as he practiced Thursday after dealing with a minor groin injury last week. He turned 30 a couple weeks ago and is entering the final season of a five-year, $82.5 million extension, with he and Chris Godwin serving as the far-and-away top options for new Bucs QB Baker Mayfield.
Aug 31, 2023
On track for Week 1
Evans (groin) is practicing Thursday and expected to play Week 1 at Minnesota, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was scheduled to play in the preseason finale but ended up being scratched with a groin injury that coach Todd Bowles described as minor. The wideout is now back practicing 10 days before the season opener, putting him on track to serve as one of QB Baker Mayfield's top two options along with long-time running mate Chris Godwin. The Bucs otherwise are counting on relatively inexperienced players at the skill positions, including RB Rachaad White and TE Cade Otton, with candidates for the No. 3 WR job being Trey Palmer, Deven Thompkins and Rakim Jarrett (all 23 or younger). Assuming no setbacks with the groin, Evans should be tasked with large target and route shares from the jump.
Aug 27, 2023
Dealing with groin injury
Head coach Todd Bowles said Sunday that Evans has been dealing with a groin injury, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reported that Evans was in line to see his first game action with Baker Mayfield during Saturday's preseason finale against the Ravens, but the dynamic wideout ultimately never took the field. It appears that decision was out of an abundance of caution, as Bowles added Evans didn't need to play Saturday and would've been okay to suit up if it had been a regular season game. Either way, Evans' groin injury, whether minor or not, is a storyline worth following with just two weeks left before Tampa Bay opens the 2023 campaign in Minnesota.
Aug 26, 2023
In-game action with Mayfield on tap
Evans will have his first in-game opportunity to play with newly named starting quarterback Baker Mayfield in Saturday's preseason finale against the Ravens, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Mayfield was named the starting quarterback Tuesday after winning a tightly contested job battle with Kyle Trask. The Buccaneers then announced the 2018 first overall pick would play the first half versus Baltimore along with Evans and Chris Godwin, giving the trio their first in-game opportunity to work together. Evans and the rest of his offensive teammates have been learning new coordinator Dave Canales' system since OTAs, and the veteran wideout should be a constant presence on the heavy dose of short and intermediate throws the scheme calls for.
Aug 11, 2023
Not suiting up Friday
Evans isn't slated to play in Friday's preseason contest against the Steelers, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Evans and Chris Godwin aren't suiting up for the Buccaneers' exhibition opener, meaning Russell Gage, Trey Palmer, Deven Thompkins and David Moore, among others, will be the wide receivers available to the offense. Evans' next chance for some preseason action will arrive Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Jets.
Jul 29, 2023
Showing chemistry with Mayfield
Evans has made several noteworthy plays in the first three days of training camp and particularly showed good chemistry with Baker Mayfield in Friday's practice, Brianna Dix of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The four-time Pro Bowler is going to see an appreciable quarterback downgrade this season whether it's Mayfield or Kyle Trask under center, considering whoever prevails in their summer job battle will be succeeding the legendary Tom Brady. However, Evans naturally enjoyed plenty of success in Tampa Bay prior to Brady's arrival in 2020, and Friday, Dix notes the emerging chemistry between him and the 2018 first-overall pick was on display in the form of a crossing pattern that resulted in a touchdown, as well as on several sideline and over-the-middle grabs. Evans should once again see significant volume in the coming season as a co-No.1 receiver, at minimum, alongside Chris Godwin.
Jan 17, 2023
Solid numbers in season-ending loss
Evans brought in six of 11 targets for 74 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-14 wild-card loss to the Cowboys on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Evans finished third in receptions and tied for second in receiving yards and targets on the night for the Buccaneers, a solid finish to an up-and-down season. Evans finished the regular campaign with 77 receptions for 1,124 yards and six touchdowns across 15 games, with three of his scores coming in a memorable Week 17 performance versus the Panthers. While Evans, who'll be only 30 when next season begins, has a cap hit of just under $24 million for 2023 per Spotrac, he'd also carry a dead cap hit of over $21 million if released; therefore he's expected to once again play a key role for Tampa Bay, although who he'll catch passes from remains an unknown as the offseason begins.
Jan 12, 2023
Practices in full Thursday
Evans (illness) was a full practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After hauling in 10 of 12 targets for 207 yards and three touchdowns to help the Buccaneers clinch the NFC South with a win against the Panthers in Week 17, Evans didn't log a snap before being ruled out due to an illness this past Sunday in Atlanta. With the benefit of three days to rest and recover, though, he managed to log every rep during Tampa Bay's first practice in advance of Monday's wild-card game against the Cowboys. As a result, Evans will join forces with Chris Godwin as the top wide receivers available to quarterback Tom Brady.
Jan 8, 2023
Won't return to Sunday's game
Evans won't return to Sunday's game against the Falcons due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from the contest, Evans didn't catch a pass. The wideout will thus target a return to action next weekend, when the Buccaneers open their playoff slate.
Jan 1, 2023
Three-touchdown tally in key win
Evans brought in 10 of 12 targets for 207 yards and three touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 30-24 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans seemingly took out a season's worth of frustration in one afternoon on an undermanned Panthers secondary, finding pay dirt down the right sideline from 63, 57 and 30 yards out. The latter two scores came in the fourth quarter and allowed the Buccaneers to overcome an 11-point deficit, and both the reception and receiving yardage totals served as season highs. Evans' touchdowns were also his first since Week 4, and he'll now aim to build some momentum ahead of the postseason in a Week 18 road matchup against the Falcons.
Dec 26, 2022
Three catches in OT win
Evans brought in three of eight targets for 29 yards in the Buccaneers' 19-16 overtime win over the Cardinals on Sunday night.
ANALYSIS
It was shaping up as another highly inefficient night for the Tom Brady-Evans connection until the duo got cooking at the most critical time of the game. Evans recorded two catches for 24 yards in the Buccaneers' game-winning drive in overtime, helping somewhat salvage an otherwise disappointing night that saw him as the intended target on both of Brady's interceptions. Evans did cross the 900-yard mark for the season with Sunday's production, and he'll aim to cross the 1,000-yard threshold for the ninth time in as many pro seasons during a pivotal Week 17 home clash against the Panthers.
Dec 18, 2022
Tied for team lead in yards
Evans had five receptions on 10 targets for 83 yards in Sunday's 34-23 loss to Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Evans finished tied for the team lead in receiving yards with fellow starter Chris Godwin (8/83/1), but it was the latter who was the recipient of one of Tom Brady's trio of touchdown passes. The 28-year-old is on pace for his ninth straight 1,000-yard season with 888 yards through 13 contests, but the shocking lack of touchdowns (three) have held him back in the fantasy rankings this year. Evans will look to get right in a soft matchup against Arizona's porous secondary in Week 16.
Dec 11, 2022
Scoring drought continues
Evans caught four of nine targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 35-7 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
He tied Chris Godwin for the team lead in targets, but Evans wasn't able to do much with that volume. He's gone five straight games without reaching 60 yards and nine straight without getting into the end zone, a baffling streak for a wideout who has scored double-digit TDs in a season four separate times in his career, including a career-high 14 just last year. Evans will look to end his touchdown drought in Week 15 against the Bengals.
Dec 5, 2022
Draws critical penalty in win
Evans brought in all four targets for 59 yards in the Buccaneers' 17-16 win over the Saints on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Evans checked in third in receptions and second in receiving yards on the night, and he was outpaced in targets by five teammates overall. However, the veteran wideout still played a critical role in the miraculous comeback victory, drawing a 44-yard defensive pass interference penalty on Paulson Adebo that took the ball down to the Saints' one-yard line and set up a touchdown grab by Cade Otton on the next play. Evans' overall numbers did disappoint from a fantasy perspective, however, and he hasn't exceeded Monday night's yardage total or five receptions in any of his last four contests. Evans will aim to boost his production back up versus the 49ers in a Week 14 road battle.
Nov 27, 2022
Highly inefficient in Week 12 loss
Evans secured two of nine targets for 31 yards in the Buccaneers' 23-17 overtime loss to the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It was a nightmare of an afternoon for Evans, who repeatedly failed to connect with Tom Brady despite tying with running back Rachaad White for second-most targets on the day. Evans saw position mate Chris Godwin (12-110-1) enjoy outstanding chemistry with Brady, and he's now recorded 54 receiving yards or fewer in three consecutive games. Evans next lines up for a matchup with a team that's given him plenty of trouble in the past, the Saints, in a Week 13 Monday night home divisional clash.
Nov 13, 2022
Loses volume against Seattle
Evans recorded five receptions on six targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 21-16 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Evans appeared to be in line for a relatively strong game, having racked up four catches for 49 yards by halftime. However, he was targeted only twice in the final two quarters to post his second consecutive effort of less than 60 receiving yards and without a score. While at least in part dictated by game script, Tom Brady took to the air only 29 times -- his second-lowest mark of the season -- and if that continues, Evans could continue to lose out on targets moving forward.
Nov 11, 2022
Ready to play in Munich
Evans (ribs/ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Seahawks in Munich.
ANALYSIS
Even though Evans' practice reps were limited throughout the week, neither of his injuries were deemed significant enough to prevent him from taking the field in Germany. Evans hasn't found the end zone since Week 4, but he's seen a steady stream of volume in the passing game over the Buccaneers' subsequent five games. During that stretch, he's averaging 5.6 receptions for 76.4 yards on 9.8 targets per contest.
Nov 10, 2022
Stays limited Thursday
Evans (ribs/ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Evans maintained his activity level from Wednesday as he deals with a pair of injuries. The Buccaneers will travel to Munich on Thursday evening ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks, so Thursday's session may be his last on-field work of Week 10. In the end, Friday's practice report will reveal whether Evans goes into the weekend with or without a designation.
Nov 9, 2022
Tending to pair of injuries
Evans (ribs/ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Coming off his low-water mark for the season in receiving yards (40) this past Sunday against the Rams, Evans is being held back in the first session of Week 10 prep due to a pair of health concerns. Considering he was able to mix into drills Wednesday, though, he's a good bet either to get back to all activity Thursday and/or Friday or avoid a designation entirely ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks in Munich.
Nov 6, 2022
Struggles against Rams
Evans caught five of 11 targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
For the third straight game and the fourth time this year, Evans saw double-digit targets, but he wound up setting a season low in receiving yards despite the volume. The veteran wideout has also gone five straight weeks without getting into the end zone, his longest drought since 2017, but he'll remain a high-ceiling fantasy option in a Week 10 clash with the Seahawks in Germany.
Nov 4, 2022
Cleared to play
Evans (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Rams, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Neither do Julio Jones or Chris Godwin, while Russell Gage (hamstring) is ruled out for a second straight week. The injuries at wide receiver this year have helped Evans see more volume (8.4 targets per game) than he did the past two years, but his TD scoring has taken a hit with the Tampa offense struggling overall.
Nov 3, 2022
Stays limited Thursday
Evans (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Evans maintained his activity level from Wednesday, giving him just one more opportunity to get back to a full session and get rid of his designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams. As for the rest of the Buccaneers' receiving corps, Julio Jones (knee) followed up a DNP to begin Week 9 prep with all activity Thursday, while Russell Gage (hamstring) has remained sidelined. Assuming Evans gains clearance to play this weekend, Tampa Bay will have its usual top three WRs available in Evans, Chris Godwin and Jones.
Nov 2, 2022
Limited in practice Wednesday
Evans (ankle) was limited at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Evans continues to feel the aftereffects of hurting his ankle Week 7, but despite logging a pair of capped sessions ahead of a Week 8 matchup with the Ravens last Thursday, he still earned a typical snap share (94 percent) and hauled in six of 11 targets for 123 yards. His practice limitations this week likely are precautionary, but his status nonetheless will be monitored to ensure he's able to play Sunday against the Rams.
Oct 27, 2022
Eclipses century mark in loss
Evans secured six of 11 targets for 123 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-22 loss to the Ravens on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Evans co-led the Buccaneers in receptions and targets while comfortably setting the pace in receiving yardage during the narrow loss. His game-long 51-yard catch early in the fourth quarter also helped set up a Ryan Succop field goal, and the 100-yard effort was the multi-time Pro Bowler's second of the season overall. Evans also has 26 targets over the last two games alone, so he'll retain plenty of fantasy appeal despite a tough matchup against Jalen Ramsey and the Rams defense in a Week 9 showdown a week from Sunday.
Oct 26, 2022
Will be available in Week 8
Evans (ankle) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Evans opened Week 8 prep with a DNP before logging back-to-back limited showings due to an ankle issue, which was enough to clear him for game action. The Buccaneers will be without Russell Gage (hamstring) at wide receiver Thursday, while Julio Jones (knee) will be a game-time call, but Evans and Chris Godwin nonetheless will serve as the top options at the position for quarterback Tom Brady.
Oct 25, 2022
Back in limited capacity
Evans (ankle) was limited at Tuesday's walkthrough, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Monday, Evans was back on the field in some capacity one day later and has one more opportunity to get back to all activity before Tampa Bay potentially gives him a designation for Thursday's game against the Ravens. As for the other injured Bucs receivers, Russell Gage (hamstring) remained sidelined Tuesday, while Julio Jones (knee) has followed the same regimen as Evans this week.
Oct 24, 2022
Tending to ankle injury
Evans (ankle) was listed as a non-participant following Monday's walkthrough, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was spotted limping about near the end of Sunday's 21-3 loss at Carolina, and the reason appears to be an ankle issue. With a short week on tap as the Buccaneers prepare for Thursday's matchup with the Ravens, the team likely will take a cautious approach with the ninth-year pro to make sure he's as healthy as possible for Week 8 action. Fellow wide receivers Russell Gage (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) also were DNPs on Monday, so the situation at the position in Tampa Bay should be watched as the week goes on to see who among the trio may be able to play.
Oct 23, 2022
Impressive day goes for naught
Evans secured nine of 15 targets for 96 yards in the Buccaneers' 21-3 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans' reception, receiving yardage and target totals led the Buccaneers on the afternoon, but the impressive numbers didn't come close to equating any true offensive team success. The game may have turned out quite differently had Evans not dropped a perfectly thrown pass from Tom Brady in the first quarter in which he'd broken wide open down the middle of the field for a sure touchdown. Evans' catch total was also a season high and his yardage tally the second highest of the campaign for him, so he'll head into a Week 8 Thursday night home showdown against the Ravens.

Limited by short-handed secondary
Evans secured all four targets for 42 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-18 loss to the Steelers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans was a distant second in receiving yardage to Chris Godwin and turned in what can only be termed a disappointing outing overall considering he was facing a Steelers secondary decimated by injury. The veteran star has been now been held to four catches in back-to-back games, and his receiving yardage has dwindled in each of those contests after he produced a season-best 103-yard tally in the Week 4 loss to the Chiefs. Evans will aim to bounce back to his usual level of production when the Buccaneers tangle with the Panthers on the road in Week 7.
Oct 9, 2022
Four catches in win
Evans secured four of eight targets for 81 yards in the Buccaneers' 21-15 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans paced the Buccaneers' receivers in receiving yardage and checked in second on the team only to Leonard Fournette. The standout wideout tallied a game-high 40-yard grab as well, a play on which he appeared to be momentarily shaken up. Evans has posted his two highest receiving yardage tallies of the season in the last two games, affording him plenty of momentum going into a Week 6 road matchup against a Steelers secondary that was eviscerated by Josh Allen and his air attack in Week 5.

Monster game in return
Evans (suspension) had eight receptions on 10 targets for 103 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 41-31 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Evans looked rejuvenated after being forced to miss last week's narrow loss to Green Bay with a one-game suspension. Both he and Chris Godwin (hamstring) were tied for the team lead with 10 targets, but it was Evans who was Tom Brady's preferred downfield and redzone target. The duo even went for a third touchdown on a goal-line fade late in the contest, but the play was defended well by L'Jarius Sneed. Evans bolstered his season line to 16/235/3 heading into divisional matchup against the Falcons next Sunday.
Sep 26, 2022
Reinstated following suspension
Evans' suspension was lifted Monday.
ANALYSIS
Evans' one-game suspension was upheld following his appeal, so he sat out the team's Week 3 loss to the Packers for his altercation with the Saints' Marshon Lattimore in Week 2. The veteran wideout's return should be a welcome sight for Tom Brady, who struggled against Green Bay without his top three pass catchers. Evans has caught eight of 11 targets for 132 yards and a score through his first two appearances of the season.
Sep 21, 2022
One-game suspension upheld
The NFL upheld Evans' one-game suspension Wednesday, with the receiver set to serve the ban Sunday against the Packers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was handed the suspension as a result of his Week 2 altercation with the Saints' Marshon Lattimore, and after an unsuccessful appeal, the four-time Pro Bowler will be sidelined for Week 3. The Buccaneers could also be without Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) this weekend, prompting the team to sign Cole Beasley to the practice squad to provide depth behind Russell Gage, Breshad Perriman, Scotty Miller, Jaelon Darden and Kaylon Geiger.
Sep 20, 2022
Decision to come Wednesday
The NFL will alert Evans, who's appealing a one-game suspension, of its decision Wednesday, Jordan Schultz of TheScore.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was suspended one game for his involvement in Sunday's altercation with Marshon Lattimore, but he appealed his one-game suspension Tuesday. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, the decision won't come until Wednesday, meaning you'll have to submit waivers without knowing Evans' status for Week 3. Tampa Bay could also be without Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee), so Russell Gage, Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller could all be in store for increased roles against the Packers on Sunday. The Buccaneers also signed Cole Beasley to its practice squad Tuesday and could promote him to the active roster if Evans, Godwin and/or Jones is sidelined.
Sep 20, 2022
Appeal to be heard Tuesday
Evans will have his appeal of a one-game suspension heard Tuesday by jointly-appointed NFL and NFLPA appeals officer James Thrash, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
An official decision on Evans' appeal should be announced later Tuesday or Wednesday, giving fantasy managers some clarity on the wideout's status heading into Sunday's matchup with the Packers. Evans, who had been nursing a calf injury in advance of the Buccaneers' Week 2 win over the Saints, was ejected early in the fourth quarter of the contest when he ran from the sideline to push New Orleans cornerback Marshon Lattimore. In addition to Evans' potential absence Week 3, the Buccaneers could also be without Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee), both of whom sat out against the Saints. If none of the Bucs' top three wideouts are available against Green Bay, Russell Gage, Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller could all be in store for added snaps and targets. Tampa Bay also signed veteran slot man Cole Beasley to its practice squad Tuesday and could promote him to the active roster if another body is needed at receiver Sunday.
Sep 19, 2022
Suspended one game
Evans has been suspended one game as a result of his role in a multi-player brawl for which he was ejected from Sunday's 20-10 win over the Saints Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans is the only suspension to result from Sunday's events, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, though more fines could still be handed out. Back in 2017, a similar scenario played out that saw Evans receive a one-game suspension due to a conflict with Marshon Lattimore. Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) both sat out Sunday's win due to injuries, so Tampa Bay's receiving corps could be significantly depleted versus Green Bay in Week 3. Evans may still appeal the suspension.
Sep 18, 2022
Tossed early from Week 2 win
Evans secured three of four targets for 61 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-10 win over the Saints on Sunday. He was ejected from the game with 12:55 remaining for his role in a multi-player brawl, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans managed a team-leading receiving yardage tally before his unceremonious exit, showing no apparent ill effects from the calf injury that had limited him during the past week. However, the veteran's ejection, which came after he ran off the sideline to shove the Saints' Marshon Lattimore down while he was scuffling with several of his teammates, could have been costly, as the game was tied 3-3 at the time. Tampa Bay was able to escape with a 10-point win, while Evans will look to raise his production at the expense of a tough Packers defense in a Week 3 home showdown next Sunday.
Sep 18, 2022
Good to go Sunday
Evans (calf) is active for Sunday's game in New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Evans was one of five Buccaneers receivers who took an injury designation into the weekend, but only Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) ended up on the inactive list. Since he managed only two limited practices this week, Evans' reps could be capped to some extent, though no reports have indicated as much. Even if Evans is a full go for Sunday's contest, he'll still likely find himself covered most of the afternoon by cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who limited the wideout to three receptions for 62 yards in their two matchups in 2021.
Sep 18, 2022
Optimism surrounding Week 2 status
The Buccaneers have been optimistic about Evans' (calf) chances to play in Sunday's matchup against the Saints, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans is officially listed as questionable after failing to log a full practice all week. The same goes for Russell Gage (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee), while Chris Godwin (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 2. The good news for fantasy managers is that the Buccaneers kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, so there'll be plenty of replacement options if one of the aforementioned wideouts joins Godwin on the sidelines. Given Fowlers' comments, it doesn't appear like Evans will be among that list but nothing is certain yet. The veteran wideout led Tampa Bay with five catches on seven targets for 71 yards and a touchdown during the season opener. However, if available, Evans will have a tough matchup Sunday against Marshon Lattimore, who held the wideout to just three catches for 62 yards across two games last year.
Sep 16, 2022
Questionable for Sunday
Evans (calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against New Orleans, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The same goes for Russell Gage (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee), while Chris Godwin (hamstring has been ruled out). Gage, Jones and Evans all had slightly different practice routines throughout the week, but each of the three was a limited participant Friday to finish things out. The good news for fantasy managers interested in any of them is that the Bucs and Saints kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, with inactives due at 11:30. Evans doesn't seem especially likely to be on that list, but it needs to be watched closely given all the high-profile players listed as questionable.
Sep 16, 2022
Back at practice
Evans (calf) is practicing Friday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday and sat out Thursday's session, so the extent of his participation Friday will be worth close monitoring. Julio Jones (knee) is also practicing Friday, while Chris Godwin (hamstring) appears to be a DNP. An official designation for Evans' status Week 2 will be disclosed alongside Friday's injury report, which the Buccaneers will release this afternoon.
Sep 15, 2022
Doesn't practice Thursday
Evans (calf) didn't participate in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
After putting in a limited showing at Wednesday's session, Evans didn't take the field at all one day later due to a calf injury. All of Evans, Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) were DNPs on Thursday, while Russell Gage (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee) were limited. Considering the thoroughly banged-up nature of the Buccaneers' receiving corps, the status of each member is worth watching as the weekend draws closer to get a sense of each one's potential to play Sunday at New Orleans.
Sep 15, 2022
Not seen at practice
Evans (calf) wasn't on the field for the media-access portion of Thursday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
In addition to Evans, Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) were also absent from practice, an indication that all three receivers will be listed as non-participants on Thursday's report. Godwin is already presumed to be unavailable for Sunday's game in New Orleans, but the statuses of Evans and Jones are murkier and could be determined by what either wideout is able to do in the team's final practice of the week Friday. On a positive note, Russell Gage -- who missed Wednesday's practice with a hamstring injury -- was back on the field Thursday.
Sep 14, 2022
Tending to calf issue
Evans was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a calf injury.
ANALYSIS
While Chris Godwin's hamstring issue was known as the Buccaneers navigate Week 2 prep, Evans joined him on the injury report with a health concern of his own. All of Godwin, Julio Jones (knee) and Russell Gage (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, while Evans and Breshad Perriman (knee) were able to mix into individual drills. Due to all the injuries in the receiving corps, the status of Evans and company is worth watching as Sunday's game at New Orleans approaches.
Sep 11, 2022
Touchdown grab in Week 1 win
Evans brought in five of seven targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 19-3 win over the Cowboys on Sunday night.
ANALYSIS
Evans paced the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the night and capped off his solid fantasy effort with an impressive diving, one-handed five-yard touchdown grab in the third quarter. The multi-time Pro Bowler naturally projects for an expansive role once again this season, but he could see even more work than usual in a Week 2 road matchup against the Saints next Sunday if fellow wideout Chris Godwin, who exited in the second quarter with a hamstring issue, can't suit up.
Aug 27, 2022
Only one target in preseason cameo
Evans failed to bring in his only target during the Buccaneers' 27-10 preseason loss to the Colts on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
The multi-time Pro Bowler was making his preseason debut alongside Tom Brady, but he couldn't come up with the only pass the latter sent his way during their one possession. Evans does seem to be completely past the hamstring issues that plagued him earlier in the summer, however, and he should play a pivotal role in the Week 1 Sunday night road showdown against the Cowboys on Sept. 11.
Aug 22, 2022
Logs full practice
Evans (hamstring) was a full practice participant Monday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans seems to be back at full strength after missing two weeks of practice. He does have a history of hamstring injuries, but he's typically recovered well with rest, and has missed only seven games total in eight seasons while topping 1,000 yards each year.
Aug 22, 2022
Back at practice
Evans (hamstring ) returned to practice Monday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Though it's unclear if Evans will practice fully, the wideout's return to the field Monday solidifies the notion that he'll be good to go for Week 1 action. It remains to be seen, however, if Evans is a candidate to see snaps in Saturday's preseason finale against the Colts.
Aug 20, 2022
Not playing Saturday
Evans (hamstring) won't play in Saturday's preseason game against Tennessee, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans and Russell Gage (leg) suffered injuries in training camp, while Chris Godwin is in the late stages of an ACL rehab and Julio Jones is being rested. It's a nice opportunity for Tampa's depth receivers, though none will get much playing time during the regular season if the top four guys can manage to stay relatively healthy.
Aug 16, 2022
Not set to practice this week
Coach Todd Bowles said Tuesday that Evans (hamstring) will not practice this week, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans and teammate Russell Gage (leg) will both refrain from participating in joint practices with the Titans this week. The Buccaneers' top priority will be to let Evans rest up and get healthy for Week 1, but with Chris Godwin (knee) also working his way back from an ACL injury, it's notable that the team remains without most of its top pass-catchers in practice.
Aug 13, 2022
Likely not playing Saturday
Evans (hamstring) is not expected to play in Saturday's preseason opener, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This should come as no surprise considering Evans is still dealing with the minor hamstring injury he sustained last week. Most of the team's top pass catchers are not expected to play in Saturday's preseason contest, which could set the stage for Tyler Johnson and Cyril Grayson to see the majority of the first-team reps.
Aug 6, 2022
Minor hamstring injury confirmed
Evans (hamstring) is considered day-to-day and should be able to play soon, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
This is a gigantic sigh of relief for fantasy managers and the Bucs as Evans' hamstring injury could have been far more serious. The big-bodied target has a long history with hamstring issues, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the veteran eased back into training camp. Still, it seems all but certain at this point that Evans' regular season status shouldn't be impacted by this particular injury.
Aug 5, 2022
Hamstring injury confirmed
Evans is tending to a hamstring injury that he sustained at Friday's practice, per NFL reporter Jordan Schultz.
ANALYSIS
On the same day in which Chris Godwin made his first appearance at practice since suffering a torn ACL back on Dec. 19, Evans made an early exit with a leg issue. It since has been clarified to be to Evans' hamstring, but Schultz reports that it's "minor." Due to his long history of hamstring concerns, there's a good chance the Buccaneers will take the utmost caution with the ninth-year pro and allow him to return to 100 percent before clearing him for on-field work.
Aug 5, 2022
Likely dealing with hammy injury
Coach Todd Bowles said Evans may have "tweaked" a hamstring prior to his early departure from Friday's practice, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans left early on the same day Chris Godwin (ACL) made his first practice appearance since December. For someone who has missed only seven games across eight NFL seasons, Evans has a surprising lengthy history of hamstring injuries, including one in late 2019 that caused him to miss the final three weeks. Apart from that, he's usually recovered from his hamstring troubles in fairly short order, often putting up big numbers even if he's listed on the injury report. He missed Week 16 with a hamstring injury last year, then erupted for 372 yards and five TDs over the following four games, including playoffs. If this hamstring injury ends up being more serious, the Bucs have Russell Gage and Julio Jones on hand to fill the gap.
Aug 5, 2022
Exits with likely leg injury
Evans left Friday's practice with an apparent leg injury, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans left early on the same day Chris Godwin (ACL) made his first practice appearance since December. Initial reports don't make it sound overly serious, but this is obviously something to keep an eye on with Evans going in the second or third round of most fantasy drafts. He's been TD-dependent since Tom Brady joined the Bucs, and while there was some thought his volume could skyrocket this year, Evans now has solid target competition with Godwin doing well in his rehab and Julio Jones signing up for the superteam. Even so, Evans has eight straight 1,000-yard season to start his career, and remains an annual candidate to lead the league in TD catches (though he's never actually done it, despite four seasons with a dozen or more).
Jul 11, 2022
Not expecting Gronk return
Evans doesn't expect former teammate Rob Gronkowski to come out of retirement this year, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans said he'd like to see a Gronk return but thinks the big man is done for real this time. With the tight end gone and Bucs wideout Chris Godwin rehabbing from a late-season ACL tear, Evans has a good chance to see more targets than what he got in his first two years playing with Tom Brady (109 and 114). Of course, while the Brady era in Tampa has led to the two smallest target totals of Evans' career, it's also produced 13 and 14 touchdowns (or career highs in back-to-back seasons). There's upside for a top-five fantasy season among WRs if Evans can combine his pre-Brady volume with his Brady-era efficiency, though that's easier said than done when defenses are able to hone in on the 6-foot-5 wideout as Tampa's far-and-away top pass catcher. The Bucs hope Russell Gage, Cameron Brate and others will prove suitable as complementary weapons while Godwin gets up to speed.
Jan 23, 2022
Spectacular TD in close loss
Evans secured eight of 16 targets for 119 yards and a touchdown during the Buccaneers' 30-27 loss to the Rams in their NFC divisional-round matchup Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With Tom Brady clearly bothered by an aggressive Rams front for most of the afternoon, Evans' efficiency became a victim of some hurried throws and tight coverage for a good chunk of the contest. However, he delivered what would have been remembered as the igniter of one of the most memorable comebacks in NFL postseason history when he cleanly beat Jalen Ramsey in one-on-one coverage down the right side for a 55-yard touchdown grab with 3:20 remaining to bring the Buccaneers within seven. Evans' 100-yard effort puts a bow on another spectacular season for the eight-year veteran, one in which he racked up a career-high 14 touchdowns alongside tallies of 74 receptions and 1,035 yards across 16 games before posting a 17-236-2 line on 26 targets in two playoff contests.
Jan 16, 2022
Eclipses century mark in win
Evans secured nine of 10 targets for 117 yards and a touchdown during the Buccaneers' 31-15 win over the Eagles in an NFC wild-card matchup Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans comfortably paced the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yardage and targets on an afternoon in which Tom Brady unsurprisingly honed in on him more than any other member of the team's depleted pass-catching corps. The highlight of the veteran's day came on an impressive 36-yard touchdown grab in the latter portion of the third quarter immediately following a Tampa Bay interception. Evans' first opportunity to build on a fruitful postseason-opening effort will come next weekend in a divisional-round battle against either the 49ers or Cowboys.
Jan 13, 2022
Gets back to full participation
Evans (hamstring) was a full participant at Thursday's practice, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With the upgrade from being limited at Wednesday's walkthrough, Evans is good to play through the hamstring injury that he picked up Week 15 against the Saints. While suiting up the last two games of the regular season, his snap shares of 75 and 72 percent were below his typical 80-plus, but he still manage to gather in 10 of 14 targets for 136 yards and three touchdowns. In a receiving corps down Chris Godwin (knee) for the Buccaneers' playoff run, Evans is the clear top option at wide receiver, and significant volume is likely with the likes of Cyril Grayson (hamstring), Breshad Perriman (hip) and Justin Watson (quadriceps) tending to health concerns.
Jan 12, 2022
Still dealing with hamstring injury
Evans was limited by a hamstring injury at Wednesday's walkthrough, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans picked up the health concern in a Week 15 loss to the Saints and subsequently was sidelined Week 16 at Carolina. Shortly thereafter, he had a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but he was able to clear league protocols in time to play Week 17. Still, Evans has been bothered by the hamstring in practice, only to suit up for the final two games of the regular season, a span in which he turned 14 targets into 10 catches for 136 yards and three touchdowns. In a receiving corps that is now down Chris Godwin (knee) and Antonio Brown, Evans is the primary wide receiver for Tom Brady in the passing game. Evans will aim to put in a full practice Thursday and/or Friday, which will clear him for Sunday's playoff opener against the Eagles.
Jan 9, 2022
Pair of TDs in finale
Evans brought in six of seven targets for 89 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 41-17 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Bucs' undisputed top receiver played like it Sunday, hauling in touchdown tosses of three and 20 yards in fourth quarter to help ice the game for Tampa Bay and snap his own single-season franchise record in that category in the process. Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports Evans went down with what appeared to be an arm injury on the reception that gave him 1,000 yards for the eighth straight season, but he was quickly back in the contest without any further signs of limitation. Assuming full health, Evans will naturally have a major role in the passing attack in next weekend's wild-card matchup against the Eagles.
Jan 6, 2022
Puts in full practice
Evans (hamstring) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Evans' ability to take all reps during Thursday's session seemingly confirms that his limitations Wednesday were maintenance-related. After sitting out Week 16 with the hamstring issue and then testing positive for COVID-19, Evans was able to move past the injury and illness to play three quarters of the Buccaneers' snaps on offense in last Sunday's 28-24 win over the Jets. Unless the Bucs elect to rest starters at some point during the Week 18 contest, Evans should see his snap share increase and serve as the clear No. 1 wideout while he's on the field. Chris Godwin (knee) is out for the season and Antonio Brown (ankle) was released Thursday, suddenly leaving Evans without much competition for targets.
Jan 5, 2022
Still tending to hamstring injury
Evans (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Evans sat out Week 16 due to a hamstring issue, which was followed by a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Fortunately, he was able to clear league protocols last Friday, cap Week 17 prep with a limited practice and enter the weekend as questionable for this past Sunday's road game against the Jets. Evans' offensive snap share of 75 percent in that outing was among his lowest for a complete contest this season, but he still put up four catches (on seven targets) for 47 yards and one touchdown in the 28-24 win. With Antonio Brown (personal) expected to be cut loose by the Buccaneers in the near future, Evans is the team's clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver with Chris Godwin (knee) out for the season. Evans now will aim to head into Sunday's season finale versus the Panthers without an injury designation.
Jan 2, 2022
Finds end zone in win
Evans secured four of seven targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 28-24 win over the Jets on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans put the Buccaneers' first points on the board with a four-yard scoring grab in the first quarter but had a relatively quiet afternoon otherwise. The veteran seemed to show no ill effects from the hamstring injury that cost him Week 16, and with the pending release of Antonio Brown following his actions in Sunday's game, Evans should be in for a significant workload in Week 18 against the Panthers and during the postseason.
Jan 2, 2022
Active as expected
Evans (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Jets, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans will make his return from a one-game absence as expected after also overcoming a COVID-19 designation earlier in the week. Evans has only managed one limited practice, which occurred Friday, over the last two weeks, leading to reports he could have his snap count somewhat limited Sunday. The multi-time Pro Bowler, who has 17 receptions of greater than 20 yards this season, will face a Jets team that's struggled with preventing downfield plays, allowing a co-NFL-high 12% explosive pass play rate.
Jan 2, 2022
Expected to play but limited
Evans (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets, is expected to play in a limited capacity, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans participated in practice Friday on a limited bases after being on the COVID-19 list Monday through Thursday. He sat out every practice last week and missed last Sunday's win over Carolina due to a hamstring injury. It sounds like from this report that he'll suit up and play, but he could be a risky fantasy option if he's on a playing time limit despite an enticing matchup against the Jets.
Dec 31, 2021
Listed as questionable
Evans (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was on the COVID-19 list Monday through Thursday, after sitting out every practice last week and missing Sunday's win over Carolina due to the hamstring injury. Both he and Antonio Brown appear truly questionable entering the weekend, and it won't surprise if either or both are treated as game-time decisions ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Tyler Johnson, Breshad Perriman, Scotty Miller, Jaelon Darden (reserve/COVID-19) and Justin Watson (questionable/quad) are Tampa's other options at wide receiver.
Dec 31, 2021
Returns from COVID list
Evans (hamstring) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans landed on the COVID list early this week but was able to clear the health and safety protocols over the past few days. However, the 28-year-old isn't necessarily in the clear to play Sunday against the Jets, since he continues to nurse the hamstring strain that sidelined him for Week 16.
Dec 30, 2021
Back at team facilities
Evans (undisclosed) ran routes and was on the receiving end of passes from practice squad quarterback Ryan Griffin at the Buccaneers' facilities Thursday, indicating the team has activated him from the reserve/COVID-19 list, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The move isn't official, but Evans likely cleared league protocols. Stroud noted that Evans seemed to get fatigued, which could be a residual effect of his time away from the team, or merely due to the hamstring issue that he sustained in his last appearance Week 15 against the Saints. If he's indeed off the COVID-19 list, Evans should show up on Thursday's injury report, perhaps as a limited participant due to his minimal activity.
Dec 27, 2021
Moved to COVID-19 list
Tampa Bay placed Evans (hamstring) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After missing the Buccaneers' Week 16 win over the Panthers due to the strained hamstring, Evans was gearing up for a potential return to the lineup Week 17 against the Jets, but his placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list provides another complication in his effort to play Sunday. If vaccinated, Evans will have a chance to test out of the NFL's COVID-19 return-to-play protocol prior to Sunday's game, but he'll almost certainly miss practice time leading up to the contest. With that in mind, Evans will more than likely miss his second straight game, leaving Antonio Brown as the clear No. 1 target in the passing game for quarterback Tom Brady.
Dec 26, 2021
Could return for Weeks 17 and 18
Evans (hamstring), who is listed as out for Sunday's game against the Panthers, has a chance to return for the Buccaneers' final two contests of the regular season, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay is viewing Evans as week-to-week after he injured his hamstring in last Sunday's loss to the Saints, but the 28-year-old appears to be dealing with a low-grade strain that should take a long-term absence off the table. That said, after failing to practice in any capacity Wednesday through Friday, Evans will likely need to return to the field next week as at least a limited participant in order to have a realistic shot at suiting up for the Buccaneers' upcoming matchup with the Jets. With both Evans and Chris Godwin (knee) -- who is out for the season -- sidelined in Carolina, the Buccaneers will turn to a combination of Tyler Johnson, Scotty Miller and Justin Watson to fill snaps at receiver behind No. 1 wideout Antonio Brown, who is making his return to the lineup after a multi-week absence.
Dec 24, 2021
Not playing Week 16
Head coach Bruce Arians said Evans (hamstring) won't play Sunday in Carolina, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans wasn't able to practice in any fashion Wednesday through Friday after straining his hamstring in the Buccaneers' shutout loss to the Saints in Week 15, so his absence for the upcoming weekend comes as little surprise. With Evans sidelined and Chris Godwin (knee) shut down for the season, Antonio Brown (ankle) -- if cleared to play following a 10-week absence for injury and suspension -- will be locked in as the Bucs' clear No. 1 receiver, while both Tyler Johnson and Scotty Miller should have regular roles in three-wideout sets and enjoy bumps in both snaps and targets. Tampa Bay could also deploy more frequent two-tight end sets featuring a combination of Rob Gronkowski, Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard.
Dec 23, 2021
Not at practice
Evans (hamstring) wasn't in attendance for Thursday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans will go down as a non-participant on the Buccaneers' official practice report for the second day in a row, an early sign that he's not on the right track to play Sunday in Carolina. With Chris Godwin (knee) shut down for the season and Antonio Brown (ankle) not a safe bet to suit up this weekend either coming off a 10-week absence due to injury and suspension, the Buccaneers could be without their top three receivers. Even the depth behind the trio is being tested to some degree, as Breshad Perriman is still on the reserve/COVID-19 list, while Justin Watson (knee) resumed practicing earlier this month but has yet to be activated from the reserve/PUP list.
Dec 22, 2021
Listed as DNP
Evans (hamstring) is listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice report, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bucs only held a walk-through but wouldn't have had Evans available if they'd been scheduled for a real practice. He hasn't been ruled out for the upcoming game against Carolina, but it doesn't look great after the early exit from Sunday's 9-0 loss to the Saints. With teammate Chris Godwin (knee) out for the season, Antonio Brown could be the Bucs' No. 1 receiver this week in his first game back from a prolonged absence.
Dec 20, 2021
Chance to play Sunday
Though Evans suffered a hamstring strain in Sunday's loss to the Saints, he has a chance to play in Week 16, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Although the report suggests that Evans is considered week-to-week, evidently the Buccaneers are holding out hope that the wideout could improve to the point of making it back for Sunday's game against the Panthers. Once Evans is available, he could see a bit of an uptick in targets going forward, given that fellow starting WR Chris Godwin has been ruled out for the season with a torn ACL.
Dec 20, 2021
Optimism about injury severity
Evans (hamstring) may have avoided a serious injury after being forced out of Sunday's 9-0 loss to the Saints, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans escaping without a severe injury is particularly good news for the Buccaneers considering that Chris Godwin (knee) is reportedly in danger of missing the rest of the regular season due to an MCL sprain. That said, soft tissue injuries can be difficult to deal with, so Evans' status at practice will need to be monitored closely before any assumptions about his Week 16 availability can be made.
Dec 19, 2021
Done for night
Evans (hamstring) won't return to Sunday's game against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Evans was ruled out at halftime after previously being deemed doubtful to return in the second quarter. Chris Godwin (knee) was also ruled out, leaving the Buccaneers with just Tyler Johnson, Scotty Miller and Jaelon Darden at wide receiver for the remainder of the game. Given the tricky nature of soft tissue injuries, Evans could be out in Week 16 against the Panthers and beyond, though it's too early to tell whether that will be the case.
Dec 19, 2021
Return doubtful
Evans (hamstring) is doubtful to return to Sunday's game against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Evans suffered the injury in the second quarter. He caught his only target for 14 yards prior to getting hurt. With Chris Godwin (knee) questionable to return, the Buccaneers could be significantly shorthanded at wide receiver for the remainder of the night.
Dec 12, 2021
Gets into end zone in win
Evans secured all six targets for 91 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 33-27 overtime win over the Bills on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans checked in second behind Chris Godwin in receptions and receiving yards on a highly efficient afternoon. The veteran wideout's 13-yard scoring grab midway through the second quarter was his first since Week 11 and pushed his season tally to 11, just two short of the career high he established in 2020. Evans' next opportunity to add to that tally comes in a Week 15 Sunday night clash against the Saints. a matchup that's often given him trouble.
Dec 5, 2021
Yard short of century mark
Evans secured seven of 10 targets for 99 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-17 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Chris Godwin stole the spotlight with a 15-143 tally, but Evans turned in an impressive performance by any measure in his own right. The multi-time Pro Bowler checked in second across the board to Godwin on the stat sheet, producing his best reception total since Week 4 and highest yardage tally since Week 5. Evans will have a thorny challenge in a Week 14 home battle against the Bills, although the absence of Tre'Davious White (knee) for Buffalo could help make for a more palatable matchup.
Nov 28, 2021
Three grabs in win
Evans brought in three of five targets for 16 yards in the Buccaneers' 38-31 win over the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans struggled with a Colts secondary known to be tough on wideouts, leading to his lowest yardage total of the season. He has also now recorded three receptions or less in four of the last six contests, and on Sunday he wasn't able to prop up his fantasy production with a touchdown, as he'd done at least once in five games during that same span. A more appealing positional matchup does await Evans in Week 13, however, as the Buccaneers travel to Atlanta to face an average Falcons secondary.
Nov 26, 2021
Good to go for Week 12
Evans (back) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Colts after returning to a full practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
With Antonio Brown (ankle) still sidelined, Evans, who had sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday, and Chris Godwin are slated to head the Buccaneers' Week 12 wideout corps. As long as he avoids any in-game setbacks, Evans should maintain his key role in the offense, one that has resulted in him scoring 10 TDs in any many games to date, including six scores over his last four outings.
Nov 25, 2021
Not practicing again
Evans (back) wasn't present for the open portion of Thursday's practice and is set to be listed as a non-participant on Tampa Bay's official report, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans also failed to take any reps during Wednesday's walk-through practice due to back tightness, an injury he likely picked up coming out of Monday's 30-10 win over the Giants. With a matchup with the Colts on tap for Sunday, Evans will have one fewer day than usual this week to gear up for game day, so the fact that he's nursing an injury is less than ideal. However, so long as Evans can fit in some on-field activity Friday, he should be in good shape to suit up this weekend.
Nov 24, 2021
Bothered by tight back
Evans was held out of Wednesday's walkthrough practice due to back tightness, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
While it doesn't sound like a serious issue, Evans will miss at least one practice ahead of Sunday's game in Indianapolis. He handled a full workload Monday night against the Giants, bringing in six of 11 targets for 73 yards and his 10th TD of the year, all while playing 82 percent of snaps on offense.
Nov 22, 2021
Atones for early mistake
Evans caught six of 11 targets for 73 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 30-10 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Evans had a blunder early on, dropping a screen pass that was then intercepted at Tampa Bay's 15-yard line. Although New York would punch that opportunity in for a touchdown, Evans responded admirably over the remainder of the contest. In fact, he compensated with a five-yard touchdown of his own in the second half, extending his current scoring streak to four straight games in the process. Evans also was one of four Buccaneers to catch six passes, improving after back-to-back outings with merely two grabs. Next up as Evans aims to continue his touchdown tear is a matchup versus the Colts in Week 12.
Nov 14, 2021
Good use of limited opportunities
Evans secured two of three targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 29-19 loss to Washington on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans shrugged off a season-low amount of targets to still produce a serviceable fantasy day thanks to a 40-yard touchdown grab down the left sideline in the fourth quarter that gave the Buccaneers some temporary hope. The towering wideout now has just two receptions in three of the past four games, a trio of contests in which he's actually logged four or fewer targets in each. The frequent visits to the end zone do keep Evans' fantasy value propped up during times of lean opportunity, and a Week 11 Monday night matchup against the visiting Giants lines up as his next chance to get back to a higher level of volume in the air attack.
Oct 31, 2021
Overcomes tough matchup for TD
Evans brought in two of four targets for 48 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 36-27 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
For most of the afternoon, a matchup that has traditionally frustrated Evans throughout his career was playing out as usual, with star cornerback Marshon Lattimore doing a good job nullifying the star wideout. However, Evans got a rare taste of success against his old nemesis when he beat Lattimore on a corner route late in the third quarter for a 41-yard touchdown grab that he recorded despite the veteran corner getting flagged for pass interference on the play. It was an otherwise quiet contest for the eighth-year wideout, but the touchdown was his sixth of the last four games. Evans will rest up during the Week 9 bye before getting a crack at the vulnerable Washington secondary on the road in Week 10.
Oct 24, 2021
Three-touchdown tally in win
Evans brought in six of 10 targets for 76 yards and three touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 38-3 win over the Bears on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The towering wideout served as one of Tom Brady's most effective red-zone target on the day, recording touchdown grabs of nine, two and eight yards in the first half. Evans was second in receptions, receiving yards and targets to Chris Godwin on the Bucs for the night, and he's now recorded three multi-touchdown efforts on the season, including two in the last three contests. Evans will look to keep up the momentum in a Week 8 divisional road matchup versus Marshon Lattimore and the Saints secondary that's often given him trouble in the past.
Oct 15, 2021
Held to two catches in win
Evans secured two of four targets for 27 yards in the Buccaneers' 28-22 win over the Eagles on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Evans was targeted in the end zone and drew a pass interference penalty on Darius Slay midway through the third quarter to set up a Leonard Fournette one-yard touchdown run, but he otherwise had a relatively quiet night. The temporary downturn is likely just a blip on the radar for Evans, who'd averaged 6.5 receptions, 92.3 receiving yards and 1.0 touchdown in 9.8 targets over his previous four games. The 28-year-old will look to boost his numbers back in a Week 7 home matchup against the Bears a week from Sunday.
Oct 10, 2021
Visits end zone twice in blowout
Evans caught six of eight targets for 113 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 45-17 win over Miami.
ANALYSIS
Evans was overshadowed by Antonio Brown (124 yards and two touchdowns) and Chris Godwin (seven catches for 70 yards) for most of this one, but he turned it on late with touchdowns of 34 and 22 yards in the fourth quarter. The 28-year-old wideout has a pair of two-touchdown performances this season, and while he hasn't found the end zone outside of those games, Evans has racked up at least 75 receiving yards in every game since a 24-yard dud in the season opener. He'll remain an elite fantasy option in Week 6 against the Eagles, even with prominent cornerback Darius Slay guarding him Thursday.
Oct 4, 2021
Leads team in targets
Evans had seven receptions (12 targets) for 75 yards in Sunday's 19-17 win over New England.
ANALYSIS
Evans led the Buccaneers in all receiving categories on a night where Tom Brady wasn't at his best. The large-framed wideout overcame a tough matchup against J.C. Jackson and turned in his third straight solid fantasy performance (6.7 receptions, 85.3 yards and two total touchdowns over that span). Evans will look to keep things rolling against a struggling Miami squad in Week 5.
Sep 26, 2021
Tops 100 receiving yards
Evans recorded eight receptions on 10 targets for 106 yards in Sunday's Week 3 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Evans paced the team in receiving yards and was tied with Giovani Bernard as the only other pass catcher to command double-digit targets. Evans provided a number of explosive gains, including a reception of 20 yards and two catches that went for 17 yards. After managing only 24 yards Week 1, Evans has since managed 13 receptions, 181 yards and two touchdowns across his last two games combined. Next, he and the Buccaneers will travel to New England for a Week 4 matchup against the Patriots.
Sep 19, 2021
Pair of scoring grabs in win
Evans secured five of nine targets for 75 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 48-25 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After mostly being left out of the fun in a wild Week 1 win over the Cowboys, Evans bounced back to pace the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yards and targets Sunday. He also made his first two end-zone visits of the season, notching one- and three-yard touchdown receptions in the second and third quarters, respectively. Evans unsurprisingly confirmed his lackluster Week 1 showing was nothing for fantasy managers to be overly concerned with, but he'll have the unenviable task of facing Jalen Ramsey and the rest of his Rams secondary mates on the road in Week 3.
Sep 10, 2021
Quiet in Week 1 win
Evans secured three of six targets for 24 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-29 win over the Cowboys on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
On a night when the trio of Antonio Brown, Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski combined for 22 receptions, 316 yards and four touchdowns, Evans was notably the odd man out of the fun. The Pro Bowl wideout had a late drop and otherwise wasn't looked to as often as his trio of teammates, but that's hardly reason for fretting on the part of fantasy managers. Evans displayed excellent chemistry with Tom Brady during their first season together in 2020 to the tune of a 70-1,006-13 line, and the legendary quarterback will undoubtedly spread the wealth among his ultra-talented group of pass catchers as the season unfolds. Evans will have a good chance to bounce back when he faces the questionable Falcons secondary in a Week 2 home divisional matchup on Sunday, Sept. 19.
Sep 2, 2021
Restructures contract for cap space
Evans agreed to restructure his contract with the Buccaneers, creating $8.9 million in salary cap space, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's the typical cap-clearing agreement, converting base salary into bonus money. Evans still gets the same compensation, more or less, and still has three years remaining on a five-year, $82.5 million extension. He'll open his season at home in Tampa next Thursday night, facing a Dallas defense that likely will start CBs Trevon Diggs and Anthony Brown on the perimeter. It's a favorable matchup for Evans, though the 6-2 Diggs at least can match-up from a size standpoint.
Aug 29, 2021
Tallies two receptions
Evans recorded two receptions on three targets for 20 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Evans played for three drives alongside the majority of the team's offensive starters. He caught a pair of passes that went for nine and 11 yards respectively, but he was quiet otherwise. As has been the case for each of the last seven seasons, Evans will be a focal point of the offense and will look to get off to a hot start in Week 1 against Dallas.
Aug 16, 2021
Not in line to play Saturday
Evan is unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason game versus the Titans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bruce Arians doesn't anticipate any of the starters taking part, but Tom Brady was the only player named by the coach. In any case, we can assume that includes the likes of Evans, Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski, who all, like Brady, played only the six offensive snaps of the first drive of the Bucs' exhibition opener this past Saturday.
Jul 28, 2021
Already flashing midseason form
Evans has been particularly impressive over the first three days of training camp despite soaring temperatures, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. "That's Mike," said head coach Bruce Arians on Tuesday. "He should be, he's All-Pro. If he wasn't I'd be really concerned. Some of these guys didn't train in this humidity. Mike's one of these guys, he gets there and I'm really pleased with where he's at."
ANALYSIS
The fact the multi-time Pro Bowler is standing out isn't completely newsworthy given his track record, but Evans made two especially impressive catches in Monday's two-minute drill and then was even more prolific throughout Tuesday's session. Evans appears to also have lost weight this offseason, and he's encouraged by the prospect of an offense that already appears to be reaping the benefits of having a year under Arians' system under its collective belt. "I felt that in mini camp," said Evans. "In mini camp, it seems like we didn't leave. It felt like we took a couple of weeks off and we're back it. I feel like we're going to be much better, especially offensively this year.
Jul 19, 2021
Looking lean this summer
Evans looked leaner at June minicamp, according to Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site.
ANALYSIS
Evans has always been one of the league's largest wideouts, typically listed with his combine measurement of 6-foot-5, 231 pounds. He might be a bit lighter this summer, but he'll still have the size advantage over every defensive back he faces. The soon-to-be 28-year-old finished last season with a career high for touchdowns (13) and a career low for targets (106), ultimately reaching 1,000 yards (just barely) for a seventh straight year. Tampa Bay's offense looks much the same as last season, featuring Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown at wide receiver, while O.J. Howard returns from an Achilles tear to join Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate at tight end.
Feb 7, 2021
One long catch in SB LV win
Evans secured his only target for 31 yards during the Buccaneers' 31-9 win over the Chiefs in Super LV on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans surprisingly saw as many targets as Tyler Johnson, offensive lineman Joe Haeg, Tanner Hudson and Ronald Jones, but he still found a way to make an impact in Tampa Bay's Super Bowl win. Evans' one reception served as a game-long catch for the Buccaneers, and he also drew a critical pass interference penalty late in the first half that put the ball at the Chiefs' nine-yard line and set up a one-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Antonio Brown. Despite the relatively quiet finish to his team's title run, Evans and Brady quickly developed rapport this season and the sixth-year wideout finished with a solid 70-1,006-13 line over 15-plus games during the regular campaign. Assuming the future Hall of Fame quarterback returns in 2021, Evans could be in for an even better campaign.
Feb 3, 2021
Puts in full practice Wednesday
Evans (knee) practiced in full Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers capped Evans' practice reps last week, as they would have done with just one week to prepare for game action. With said week behind him, he's been cleared to suit up for Super Bowl LV versus the Chiefs on Sunday. Meanwhile, Antonio Brown got back on the practice field in a limited capacity Wednesday, helping Tampa Bay inch closer to full capacity in its receiving corps.
Jan 29, 2021
Limited at practice
Evans (knee) remained limited Friday at practice.
ANALYSIS
Although he wasn't a full participant, the Bucs estimate that Evans wouldn't have any injury designation if they had a game to play this Sunday. He should be fine with another week to prepare for the Super Bowl, gearing up to face a solid KC secondary.
Jan 28, 2021
Logs limited session
Evans (knee) was limited at Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Since picking up a knee injury Week 17, Evans' has had his practice reps capped, but he's still produced, per usual. Through three postseason games, Evans has compiled a 10-173-2 line on 21 targets. The Buccaneers are in the midst of their first of two weeks of preparation for Super Bowl LV, so there's little reason to believe Evans' status against the Chiefs is in question.
Jan 27, 2021
Gets limited tag Wednesday
Evans (knee) was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Evans has been managing a knee injury since Week 17, but he's still suited up for all three of the Buccaneers' playoff games. During that stretch, he hauled in 10 of 21 targets for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Elsewhere in the receiving corps, Antonio Brown wouldn't have practiced if the team held a session, which is expected to continue this week. Tampa Bay has two weeks to get healthy for Super Bowl LV against the Chiefs, and if Brown is sidelined, like he was in the NFC Championship Game, Evans could be in line for a few more looks.
Jan 24, 2021
Finds end zone in championship win
Evans secured three of eight targets for 51 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 31-26 win over the Packers in Sunday's NFC Championship Game.
ANALYSIS
Evans was far from efficient and saw a ball bounce off his outstretched hands in the fourth quarter, resulting in Tom Brady's second interception of the afternoon. However, the multi-time Pro Bowler did contribute a 16-yard scoring grab that opened the Buccaneers' scoring on the day, his second touchdown in as many postseason games. He'lll look to make it a hat trick in that department during a Super Bowl LV matchup versus either the Bills or Chiefs at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 7.
Jan 22, 2021
Cleared from injury report
Evans (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Green Bay, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans injured his knee Week 17 but has nonetheless managed to play 84 and 88 percent of Tampa's offensive snaps in two playoff games. He caught six passes for 119 yards in the wild-card round, followed by just one reception for a three-yard touchdown in the divisional round. Antonio Brown's upcoming absence due to a knee injury of his own could push a few more targets toward Evans or Chris Godwin.
Jan 21, 2021
Another limited showing
Evans (knee) was limited at Thursday's practice, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans maintained his activity level from Wednesday, when his reps were capped in a walk-through session. Chris Godwin (quadriceps) is in the same boat as Evans, while Antonio Brown (knee) has been unable to practice this week. Even if Evans is unable to put in a full session Friday, it appears as if the Buccaneers are managing his practice reps to make sure he's ready for Sunday's NFC Championship Game at Green Bay.
Jan 20, 2021
Listed as limited Wednesday
Evans (knee) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Chris Godwin (hip/quad) and Ronald Jones (finger/calf), with Greg Auman of The Athletic suggesting that the trio's listed limitations can be viewed as carry-over from last week. Evans logged limited practices in advance of this past Sunday's divisional-round win over the Saints, but ended up approaching the contest minus an injury designation.
Jan 17, 2021
Makes one catch count
Evans brought in one of three targets for a three-yard touchdown in the Buccaneers' 30-20 divisional-round win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
On an evening where the Buccaneers passing game cooled off significantly, Evans tied a season-low figure in receptions while just exceeding his low-water mark in catches. However, the multi-time Pro Bowler at least made his one reception count, as it allowed Tampa Bay to overcome a 6-3 second-quarter deficit. Evans didn't appear to show any limitations with respect to the hyperextended knee he'd suffered back in Week 17, and he'll look to bounce back with a much more productive environment in what will admittedly be some challenging weather at Lambeau Field during next Sunday's NFC Championship Game.
Jan 15, 2021
Cleared for divisional round
Evans (knee) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's NFC divisional-round matchup against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Evans managed a trio of limited practice sessions this week while continuing to recover from a hyperextended left knee sustained Week 17, and Jenna Laine of ESPN reports that he hope to be "closer to 100 percent" in New Orleans. The star wideout was only able to log one limited practice prior to the wild-card win over Washington, in which he gutted out his injury while catching six passes for 119 yards. His increased practice activity this week would seem to reinforce the notion that Evans will be at or near top form versus the Saints.
Jan 14, 2021
Limited in practice
Evans (knee) was a limited practice participant Thursday, John DeShazier of the Saints' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Back-to-back limited practices put Evans ahead of where he was last week. He logged just one limited session leading up to Tampa Bay's win over Washington, ultimately catching six passes for 119 yards while playing 84 percent of defensive snaps. There's little reason to think he'd miss the game against New Orleans this Sunday, hoping to remedy his poor track record against the Saints. Evans has averaged only 51.4 yards per game in 13 career matchups, struggling against top CB Marshon Lattimore the past couple seasons.
Jan 13, 2021
Remains limited by knee injury
Evans (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
After injuring his left knee in the regular-season finale, Evans wasn't the worse for wear this past Saturday at Washington. While logging a typical 84 percent of the snaps on offense, he turned 10 targets into six catches for 119 yards. The Bucs appear to be managing Evans' reps to kick off prep for the divisional round, but he'll have two more chances to elevate to full participation before the weekend.
Jan 9, 2021
Excels in wild-card win
Evans (knee) secured six of 10 targets for 119 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-23 win over Washington on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Six days after suffering an ugly hyperextension, Evans was not only active and playing without restrictions, but thriving as the Buccaneers' leader in receptions and receiving yards. The veteran made a number of impressive catches throughout the contest, and his target tally was second only to that of fellow wideout Chris Godwin's. Evans' 100-yard effort marked his third time eclipsing the century mark in the last four contests dating back to Week 15, and he'll look to continue offering a similar caliber of production in next weekend's divisional-round matchup.
Jan 9, 2021
Suiting up Saturday
Evans (knee) is listed as active Saturday at Washington.
ANALYSIS
When Evans left leg got stuck in the end-zone turf Week 17, the potential for missed time seemed possible, but he progressed throughout the week, culminating in a limited practice Thursday and a listing of questionable for the wild-card round. Both Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network have since forecast that Evans would attempt to play through a knee injury, and indeed the wide receiver will be available to the Buccaneers offense Saturday. Having said that, Evans' workload may be capped to ensure he doesn't suffer a setback, which could result in more reps for Antonio Brown and Scotty Miller opposite Chris Godwin.
Jan 9, 2021
On track to play
Evans (knee) is expected to play in Saturday's wild-card game against Washington, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bucs likely won't make things official until closer to 8:15 p.m. ET, but it looks as if the star wide receiver is expected to play in the pivotal playoff game. Evans practiced just once this week after injuring his left knee early in the Bucs' Week 17 win over the Falcons.
Jan 9, 2021
Will attempt to play Saturday
Evans (knee) intends to play in Saturday's wild-card game in Washington, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans officially is listed as questionable after managing just one limited practice Thursday, the result of injuring his left knee Week 17. Coach Bruce Arians told Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site that Evans is slated to be a "game-time decision" but believes the wideout "has a chance" to be available to the offense. Tampa Bay ultimately will make a decision on Evans' status about 90 minutes before Saturday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Jan 7, 2021
Questionable for wild-card round
Evans (knee) is listed as questionable for Saturday's wild-card game at Washington.
ANALYSIS
Shortly after achieving his seventh 1,000-yard season in a row this past Sunday, Evans got his leg stuck in the turf while attempting to make a catch in the end zone. He was unable to return to the contest, and while he's participated in a walk-through this week, he wasn't officially listed as anything but a non-participant until Thursday, when he was limited. Per Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site, coach Bruce Arians called Evans a "game-time decision" but also believes the wide receiver "has a chance" to suit up this weekend. Evans' status, one way or another, will be confirmed approximately 90 minutes before Saturday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Jan 7, 2021
Game-time decision
Coach Bruce Arians indicated that Evans (knee) is a game-time decision for Saturday night's playoff opener against Washington, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The report notes that Arians thinks that Evans -- who got in some on-field work Thursday -- "has a chance" to play in Saturday's 8:15 p.m. ET contest. To that end, the wideout has been "living in the training room" this week. Look for Evans to approach wild-card weekend officially listed as questionable by the Bucs.
Jan 7, 2021
Returns to practice
Evans (knee) is participating in Thursday's practice, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Four days after exiting the Buccaneers' Week 17 win over the Falcons with a hyperextended left knee, Evans was back on the field for the team's final practice ahead of Saturday's wild-card game in Washington. According to Laine, during the open portion of the practice, Evans was spotted going through a dynamic warmup that included squatting and jogging. The Buccaneers will release their final injury report later Thursday, which will reveal the extent of Evans' participation in the closed portion of the practice, while also indicating whether he'll carry a designation into the playoff game. Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times relays that the Buccaneers are optimistic Evans will be able to suit up Saturday, but how his knee responds to Thursday's practice will likely factor heavily into the team's decision on his status.
Jan 6, 2021
Still not practicing
Evans (knee) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Coach Bruce Arians noted Monday that Evans didn't suffer any structural damage in the left knee that he injured Week 17 and was considered day-to-day, per Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site. On Tuesday, Evans took part in the Bucs' walk-through but ultimately was listed as a non-participant on the estimated practice report. His absence from the field continued Wednesday, giving him just one more chance to join his teammates in drills this week. Evans' listing on Thursday's report will give a sense of his ability so suit up for Saturday's wild-card matchup at Washington.
Jan 5, 2021
Listed as non-participant on practice estimate
Evans (knee) was listed as a non-participant on Tuesday's practice estimate, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
On the plus side, Evans, who suffered a hyperextended knee this past Sunday, avoided structural damage and was on the field for Tuesday's walk-through. At this stage it's too early to know if the wideout will be available for Saturday's playoff opener against Washington, but coach Bruce Arians noted Tuesday that he's hopeful on that front.
Jan 5, 2021
Takes the field Tuesday
Coach Bruce Arians relayed that Evans (knee) participated fully in Tuesday's walk-through, but noted that the wideout wouldn't have taken part in a full-speed practice, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
That Evans was on the field Tuesday after hurting his knee Sunday is a step in the right direction, with Arians indicating that he's hopeful that the team will have the pass-catcher available for Saturday night's playoff opener against Washington. What Evans is able to do at practice Wednesday and how he responds to any reps he gets in the process should help begin to clarify his chances of suiting up this weekend.
Jan 5, 2021
Spotted at walkthrough practice
Evans (knee) was at Tuesday's walkthrough practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
It's encouraging news after coach Bruce Arians revealed Monday that Evans avoided structural knee damage and is considered day-to-day. While it's unclear what capacity Evans participated in, the team should issue an official practice report at some point Tuesday with Saturday's wild-card game against Washington on the horizon.
Jan 4, 2021
Good news from MRI
Coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Evans (knee) has avoided any structural damage and is considered day-to-day, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Arians said that the hope is for Evans, who was forced out of last Sunday's win over the Falcons, could return to practice Thursday, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. James Palmer of NFL Network reports that Arians dubbed the injury a hyperextension. That Evans has avoided a severe injury is certainly good news for Tampa Bay's offense, and it seems like he could even have a shot at suiting up in Washington on Saturday. If Evans can't go, on the other hand, Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson could handle additional work behind Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown.
Jan 3, 2021
Injury not 'serious', per Arians
Coach Bruce Arians believes Evans didn't suffer "any serious damage" to his left knee during Sunday's 44-27 win against the Falcons, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans did enough in less than one quarter to reach 1,000 receiving yards for the seventh consecutive season to begin his career, but his fourth and final target fell to the ground when his attempt to catch a Tom Brady pass coincided with his left leg getting stuck in the end-zone turf. The wide receiver is slated for an MRI, and Arians stated the Buccaneers will have more clarity on Evans' situation Monday. If Arians' statement comes to pass, Evans' activity level in practice this week will be one to watch as Tampa Bay prepares to face off with the NFC East champion to be determined in the wild-card round.
Jan 3, 2021
Will have knee checked out
Evans is slated to undergo an MRI on his knee, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to being forced out of the Buccaneers' regular-season finale against Atlanta, Evans caught three of his four targets for 46 yards. If his knee issue forces him to miss time during the team's playoff run, added snaps behind Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown will be available for Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson.
Jan 3, 2021
Ruled out of Sunday's game
Evans (knee) won't return to Sunday's game versus the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
While attempting to make a catch in the end zone near the end of the first quarter, Evans seemed to get his left leg stuck in what has been termed soggy turf by Jennifer Hale of Fox Sports. Evans needed assistance to get to the tunnel before a cart took him to the locker room. The nature of the injury isn't known, but at the time he was ruled out he was donning street clothes and a brace on his left leg.
Jan 3, 2021
Injures leg Sunday
Evans (leg) went to the locker room during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Falcons, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans appeared to get his left leg stuck in the turf as he attempted to catch a Tom Brady pass in the end zone. The nature of the injury isn't known, but Evans required assistance to leave the field.
Dec 26, 2020
Sensational in blowout victory
Evans secured 10 of 12 targets for 181 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 47-7 win over the Lions on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Evans was an integral part of Tom Brady's record-setting 348-yard first half, but the star wideout didn't let up after his future Hall of Fame quarterback left the game, either. Evans began his sensational day with a 33-yard grab on the Buccaneers' opening drive, and he subsequently recorded a 27-yard touchdown catch to cap off the team's second possession. Evans would continue routinely getting the best of the Lions secondary throughout the day, and he put an exclamation point on his performance via a 22-yard scoring connection with Blaine Gabbert midway through the third quarter. Evans' receiving yardage total was a season high, and it also puts him in position to notch his seventh 1,000-yard campaign in as many pro seasons if he can total at least 40 in a Week 17 divisional contest against the Falcons.
Dec 20, 2020
Eclipses century mark in win
Evans secured six of seven targets for 110 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-27 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans was the only one of the top receiving trio of himself, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown to not find the end zone, but he led the team's pass catchers in receptions and receiving yardage while tying for the lead in targets. The multi-time Pro Bowler had last crossed the 100-yard mark back in Week 4, so the boost in production was especially timely for fantasy managers and atoned for Evans' second straight game without a touchdown grab. Evans will look to stay hot in a favorable Week 16 matchup versus the Lions on Saturday afternoon.
Dec 13, 2020
Leads team with modest numbers
Evans brought in three of five targets for 56 yards in the Buccaneers' 26-14 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans' relatively modest receiving yardage tally nevertheless led the Buccaneers on an afternoon in which Tom Brady put the ball up just 23 times. The multi-time Pro Bowler also tied Antonio Brown for the team lead in targets and showed no ill effects from the hamstring issue that had plagued him during the practice week. Evans has now failed to exceed Sunday's yardage total in three straight games, a dubious streak he'll look to obliterate versus the vulnerable Falcons secondary in Week 15.
Dec 11, 2020
Cleared to play
Evans (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Monday's game against the Vikings, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was a limited practice participant Wednesday and a non-participant Thursday, before upgrading to full to finish out the week. Coach Bruce Arians said the wideout looked good in Friday's practice and is ready to play in Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Dec 11, 2020
Looks good in return to practice
Coach Bruce Arians said Evans (hamstring) is "fine" and looked good at Friday's practice, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans might still be listed on the final injury report, but it sounds like the Bucs expect him to play. Fantasy owners should still keep an eye on the situation, as Evans has a history of hamstring injuries and was held out from Thursday's practice.
Dec 11, 2020
Spotted at Friday's practice
Evans (hamstring) was spotted on the practice field with a helmet Friday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old was unable to practice Thursday, but it appears he'll be participating at Friday's session in some capacity. Evans may need to put in a full practice to avoid an injury designation for Sunday's matchup with the Vikings. Fellow wideout Chris Godwin (finger) also sat out practice to begin the week, but he had no limitations at Thursday's session.
Dec 10, 2020
Held out of practice Thursday
Evans (hamstring) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
While Evans downgraded from limited to DNP through two injury reports, fellow wide receiver Chris Godwin (finger) went from no activity Wednesday to a full session Thursday. Prior to this week, Evans had put together a lengthy spell without any injury concerns, so his status this week is of particular interest for the rest of the Buccaneers' receiving corps. Friday's practice report could provide some clarity for Evans' situation.
Dec 9, 2020
Puts in limited showing Wednesday
Evans (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Evans was plagued by injuries early this season, but he avoided any limitations on his practice reps since Week 7, a span of five weeks of prep before the Buccaneers' recent bye. On the heels of that respite, he's dealing with a hamstring issue, while fellow wide receiver Chris Godwin (finger) also was limited. The pair will look to ditch their designations ahead of Sunday's contest against the Vikings.
Nov 29, 2020
Pair of scores in loss
Evans hauled in three of nine targets for 50 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 27-24 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans certainly made the most of his handful of receptions, and he even fought through what appeared to be an ankle issue that caused him to limp off for a play in the second half. The big wideout's connection with Tom Brady wasn't operating on all cylinders, however, as evidenced by both his poor catch rate and the fact Brady's second interception of the day came on a pass intended for Evans in which there appeared to be some degree of miscommunication. Nevertheless, fantasy managers certainly would have walked away pleased with the pair of scores, which extended Evans' scoring streak to three games and left the seven-year veteran just one touchdown away from equaling the career-high 12 he's notched in two other seasons. Evans will look to carry over his momentum into a Week 14 battle against the Vikings after resting up over the Buccaneers' Week 13 bye.
Nov 23, 2020
Scores despite tough matchup
Evans caught five of nine targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 27-24 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Evans showed great power and determination as he took a short pass and dragged two opponents into the end zone for a nine-yard score to start the second quarter. That play came on one of the rare occasions Evans didn't draw coverage from opposing cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who he battled with all evening. Despite the tough matchup, Evans held his own and caused a couple pass interference calls on Ramsey in the first half. More importantly, he built his touchdown tally to nine this season, compensating for another came with only decent yardage. Next up for Evans is what could be a high-scoring encounter with the Chiefs this Sunday.
Nov 15, 2020
Finds end zone in win
Evans brought in six of 11 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 46-23 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans led the team in targets while checking in second in receiving yards, recording his touchdown on a leaping three-yard grab in the back of the end zone just before halftime to erase a 17-10 deficit. The towering wideout was also close to a second score but was overthrown by Tom Brady, yet his overall performance was certainly encouraging considering the amount of attention he garnered from the future Hall of Fame quarterback despite Antonio Brown's active status. Evans' catch total qualified as his highest since Week 4, and he'll look to carry over the momentum into a Week 11 Monday night battle versus the Rams.
Nov 9, 2020
Avoids injury, but not defeat
Evans had four receptions (six targets) for 64 yards in Sunday's 38-3 loss to the Saints. He appeared to tweak his groin in the third quarter, but promptly returned to the field one play later.
ANALYSIS
Once the injury scare was out of the way, fantasy managers could turn their disappointment Evans' production on the field. The blame can't be placed entirely on the star wideout, as he didn't see a target until the second half despite the Buccaneers playing from behind for the entire contest. Evans ended up leading the team in receiving yards on a night to forget for Tom Brady and the entire Tampa Bay offense. The Bucs' aerial attack will look to get back on track in a favorable matchup against the Panthers on Sunday.
Nov 2, 2020
Another touchdown in win
Evans caught five of seven targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 25-23 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Evans continued his touchdown tear, making an excellent grab from eight yards out to give Tampa Bay the lead to start the fourth quarter. The wideout has now scored seven times this season, flexing his muscle when in the red zone and putting him on pace for a new career high in the category. Although Evans' yardage totals haven't reached those of prior years with the same consistency, he remains a weekly threat due to his regular involvement and scoring punch. Whether or not teammate Chris Godwin (finger) returns in Week 9 versus the Saints, Evans should be a strong play in an NFC South primetime showdown.
Oct 27, 2020
Bounce-back week in store?
Evans could be set for a resurgent Week 8 performance Monday night against the Giants with Chris Godwin (finger) ruled out for the contest.
ANALYSIS
Jenna Laine of ESPN.com confirms Godwin fractured his index finger on his fourth-quarter touchdown reception in Sunday's win over the Raiders and will be forced to miss Week 8 at minimum. Evans has logged just four targets combined over the last pair of contests as he struggles to overcome a lingering ankle injury, but the combination of Godwin's absence and the extra day to heal up ahead of the Week 8 contest should leave him poised for a boost in opportunity and production. In the three games Godwin has already missed this season due to a concussion and a hamstring injury, Evans has notably eclipsed 100 yards receiving in two of them and logged a combined 27 targets overall.
Oct 25, 2020
Struggles in Week 7 win
Evans secured both of his targets for 37 yards in the Buccaneers' 45-20 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
By the end of the practice week, Evans had shed the injury designation he'd been carrying due to an ankle issue, but he isn't 100 percent by all accounts and continued to struggle getting open in Sunday's victory. Evans' target count lagged significantly behind that of fellow wideouts Chris Godwin and Scotty Miller, who logged nine looks apiece. The multi-time Pro Bowler has a combined 3-47 line over the past two games on four total targets, and he's also interspersed a pair of two-yard tallies among a couple of 100-yard efforts thus far this season. The impending arrival of Antonio Brown (suspension), who's slated to make his debut Week 9, now looms large over the fantasy fortunes of other members of the Buccaneers pass-catching corps, and given Evans is already trending in the wrong direction, he'll particularly be a player to monitor in a Week 8 Monday night battle against the Giants.
Oct 23, 2020
Ready for Sunday
Evans (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Evans even closed out the week as a full practice participant for the first time since Oct. 2. He's seen only 10 targets in the three games where both he and Chris Godwin have been active, but the Bucs shouldn't have too much trouble finding a way to keep both wide receivers regularly involved. The 6-foot-5 Evans has been living off touchdowns this year, scoring on six of his 23 receptions.
Oct 22, 2020
Maintains limited practice activity
Evans (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Both Evans and Chris Godwin (hamstring) have now had their reps capped in consecutive practices to begin Week 7, but head coach Bruce Arians hasn't suggested that either receiver is in jeopardy of missing Sunday's game against the Raiders. After scoring at least one touchdown in each of the Buccaneers' first five games, Evans' streak came to an end in last week's 38-10 win over the Packers while Arians leaned on a run-heavy attack in the blowout. He finished the day with just two targets across his 51 offensive snaps, managing one 10-yard reception.
Oct 21, 2020
Begins week as limited
Evans (ankle) was listed as limited on Wednesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Evans followed a DNP/LP/LP practice breakdown last week, so kicking off Week 7 preparations with a limited session indicates he's further removed from the right ankle sprain that he picked up Week 4. Still, his status will be watched closely to ensure he's available for Sunday's visit to Las Vegas.
Oct 18, 2020
TD streak ends Sunday
Evans caught one of two targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
The two targets were a season low for Evans, and it's the first time all year he hasn't been able to haul in a TD -- although it is the third time in six games he's been held to 10 yards or fewer. The game script did him no favors, as the Bucs' defense dominated the action, but it was still worrisome that all three of those low yardage totals have come in the three games Chris Godwin was healthy enough to play in. Tom Brady will get another chance to make both his star receivers productive at the same time in Week 7's road clash with the Raiders.
Oct 16, 2020
Ready to go
Evans (ankle) will play in Sunday's game against the Packers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
While he never made it back to full practice participation, Evans doesn't have an injury designation for Week 6. He'll have a bit of added target competition this Sunday, with Chris Godwin cleared to play for the first time since Week 3.
Oct 15, 2020
Makes limited return to practice
Evans (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After the session, Evans told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times that he's "definitely feeling better" after last Thursday's loss at Chicago. "Still some soreness, but nothing I can't play through." Evans' ability to get on the field bodes well for his upcoming availability, and he may have Chris Godwin (hamstring) at his side after his teammate logged a second consecutive limited session Thursday. Meanwhile, Scotty Miller (hip/groin) also had LP next to his name, and Justin Watson (chest) continued to practice in full.
Oct 15, 2020
Present for practice
Evans (ankle) was spotted on the field during the media-access portion of Thursday's practice, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay listed Evans as a non-participant in their first practice of the week Wednesday, but the wideout looks like he'll have a good chance to at least put in a limited workout Thursday. The Buccaneers will reveal how extensively Evans was involved in the session when the team releases its second Week 6 practice report later Thursday. Evans' health situation appears to be the most unsettled among the Buccaneers' banged-up pass catchers, as Chris Godwin (hamstring), Scotty Miller (hip/groin) and Rob Gronkowski (shoulder) were all at least limited participants in Wednesday's practice, while Justin Watson (chest) practiced fully after sitting out the Week 5 loss to the Bears.
Oct 14, 2020
DNP on Wednesday
Evans (ankle) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Evans was noticeably hindered by his right ankle sprain last Thursday but still played 85 percent of the offensive snaps on his way to five catches (on nine targets) for 41 yards and one touchdown. He also didn't practice in advance of that game, so he doesn't necessarily have to this week either to be available for Sunday's game against the Packers. Elsewhere in the receiving corps, both Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Scotty Miller (hip/groin) were limited Wednesday, while Justin Watson (chest) was full, so the group (aside from Evans) seems to be getting healthier.
Oct 9, 2020
Nabs league-leading sixth TD catch
Evans (ankle) brought in five of nine targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 20-19 loss to the Bears on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Evans was able to prove worthy of active status in pregame warmups, and he proceeded to have a solid impact on the game by ringing up the Buccaneers' only touchdown of the night. The Pro Bowl receiver now leads the NFL with six touchdown receptions, and he may have had a seventh had Tom Brady been able to properly place a deep ball on a fourth-quarter play where Evans had broken free down the left sideline. The sixth-year wideout will now have some extra days to heal up before a Week 6 home showdown versus the Packers on Sunday, Oct. 18.
Oct 8, 2020
Active Week 5
Evans (ankle) is listed as active Thursday at Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Despite being unable to practice this week, Evans tested out his injured ankle during a pregame workout, cutting and making moves out of the break, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. After getting the all clear to play, Evans will take aim at a Bears defense that hasn't allowed a touchdown to wide receivers this season.
Oct 8, 2020
Set to suit up Thursday
Evans (ankle) is expected to play Thursday at Chicago, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports
ANALYSIS
While the Buccaneers will be without wide receivers Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Justin Watson (chest), they intend to have the services of Evans and Scotty Miller (hip/groin). The decision appears to hinge on Evans' pregame workout, which included cutting and "explosive" moves out of the break, per Stroud. Evans' ankles were taped up, too, so it seems to indicate he'll be out there Thursday.
Oct 8, 2020
Showing optimism for Thursday
Evans (ankle) will need to successfully complete pre-game workouts in order to be active Thursday night against Chicago, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was the team's most targeted wide receiver Week 4 against the Chargers with Chris Godwin (hamstring) sidelined, but he emerged from the game with an ankle injury that forced him out of practice for the entire week. Even though he's operating on a short week, there's still optimism that Evans will take the field, though it absolutely warrants confirmation roughly 90 minutes prior to the 8:20 p.m. EST kickoff. Evans could be in for another target-heavy week if everything checks out in warmups, as Godwin has again been ruled out, while Scotty Miller (hip/groin) is considered questionable for the contest (though he's expected to play). A tough matchup awaits, however, as Evans and co. will be facing a Chicago team that hasn't given up a touchdown to an opposing wide receiver all year.
Oct 7, 2020
Status in question for Week 5
Evans (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's contest at Chicago, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was unable to practice this week, but he'll have a chance to suit up Thursday, unlike Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Justin Watson (chest). Assuming Evans is active, he'll be the primary pass-catching option for Tom Brady, while Scotty Miller (hip/groin) -- who also is questionable -- is the top option to fill in for Godwin in the slot.
Oct 6, 2020
No practice Tuesday
Evans (ankle) didn't practice Tuesday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The absence from Evans marks his second in as many days due to a right ankle sprain. Despite the injury, he racked up seven catches (on eight targets) for 122 yards and one touchdown this past Sunday versus the Chargers. He'll have one more opportunity to practice before the Bucs tab Evans with a designation for Thursday's game at Chicago.
Oct 6, 2020
Not seen Tuesday
Evans (ankle) wasn't present at the portion of Tuesday's walk-through open to the media, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
If he indeed doesn't take the field Tuesday, it'll mark Evans' second DNP of Week 5 prep. He toughed out a sprained right ankle this past Sunday against the Chargers, reeling in seven of eight passes for 122 yards and one touchdown. Ultimately, he doesn't necessarily have to practice in order to play Thursday at Chicago, but he still technically has two chances to do so before the Bucs release their final injury of the week Wednesday.
Oct 5, 2020
Listed as non-participant at practice
Evans (ankle) was listed as a non-participant in Monday's walk-through practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
A sprained right ankle that the wideout suffered in Sunday's win over the Chargers is the culprit, now it remains to be seen if he's able to recover in time to suit up Thursday night against Chicago. With Monday being used as a recovery day for many of the Bucs' banged-up players, what Evans is able to do on the field Tuesday should shed more light on his Week 5 status.
Oct 5, 2020
Medical evaluation on tap
Coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Evans is set to receive medical evaluation after suffering a right ankle sprain during Sunday's win over the Chargers, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Arians said Evans is "as tough as they come," and that the star wideout was on "a leg and a half" while playing through his injury Sunday. Evans managed to surpass the 100-yard mark and score despite being injured early, so there's reason to be optimistic that he could continue to play through the issue without missing time, but Thursday's upcoming contest against the Bears leaves only a short window for rest. Greg Auman of The Athletic reports that the Buccaneers should disclose more medical information Tuesday.
Oct 4, 2020
Eclipses 100-yard mark in win
Evans brought in seven of eight targets for 122 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 38-31 win over the Chargers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans overcome an ankle injury in the first half to pace the Buccaneers in receptions and receiving yards on the afternoon. His late second-quarter touchdown grab, Evans' fifth of the season, was key to the Buccaneers' comeback, as Tampa Bay found itself down by a 24-7 score at the time. Evans was able to finish the contest despite occasionally showing some signs of lower-leg discomfort, but it appears he'll be ready to once again serve as the linchpin of the pass-catching corps in a quick Week 5 turnaround game versus the Bears on Thursday night, one that Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports Evans' fellow wideout Chris Godwin (hamstring) is unlikely to be ready for.
Oct 4, 2020
Returns to Sunday's game
Evans (ankle) returned to Sunday's game versus the Chargers, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was injured in the first quarter but only spent a handful of snaps on the sidelines before returning to action. With Chris Godwin (hamstring) inactive, Evans is in line to be Tom Brady's top target Sunday.
Oct 4, 2020
Departs Sunday's game
Evans was removed from Sunday's contest against the Chargers with an apparent ankle injury, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans was in line for a huge target count with running mate Chris Godwin (hamstring) in street clothes Week 4. Indeed, Evans hauled in all three targets for 47 yards before his departure. The Buccaneers have yet to tab him with a designation, but for the time being the receiving corps has been whittled down to Scotty Miller, Justin Watson, Tyler Johnson and Jaydon Mickens.
Sep 27, 2020
Maximizes catches in Week 3 win
Evans secured both of his targets for a pair of one-yard touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 28-10 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans was uncharacteristically quiet from a cumulative statistical standpoint, but the fact both his receptions went for touchdowns rewarded fantasy managers nevertheless. Evans' receiving yardage tally was naturally an outlier, highly unlikely to come close to repeating itself this season. Additionally, the 27-year-old already has four touchdowns on the campaign, and the level of trust that clearly already existent between him and Brady should continue to pay handsome fantasy dividends throughout the remainder of the campaign. Evans will look to continue finding the end zone while offering more production in receptions and receiving yardage against the Chargers in a Week 4 battle.
Sep 20, 2020
Clears century mark in win
Evans brought in seven of 10 targets for 104 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 31-17 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After a rough Week 1 where he managed a hamstring injury and finished with just a 1-4-1 line, Evans bounced back with a couple of splash plays on his way to his first 100-yard effort with Tom Brady as his battery mate. The sixth-year wideout recorded a game-high 50-yard grab, and he also connected with Brady for a 23-yard touchdown catch in the latter portion of the first quarter for Tampa Bay's second touchdown of the day. Evans paced the pass-catching corps in receptions, receiving yardage and targets, unsurprising given Chris Godwin's (concussion) absence. Evans will look to similarly thrive in a Week 3 road battle against the Broncos that should present a tougher matchup for the Bucs' passing game.
Sep 18, 2020
Cleared for Week 2
Evans (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Evans logged limited practices Wednesday and Thursday before upgrading to full participation Friday. He gets a great matchup against a vulnerable Carolina secondary, and he could see even more targets than usual if Chris Godwin (concussion - doubtful) is inactive.
Sep 17, 2020
Turns in limited practice
Evans (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
In addition to matching his level of practice activity from Wednesday, Evans elaborated on the hamstring injury that rendered him a game-time call Week 1 before he ultimately gained clearance for the Buccaneers' eventual season-opening loss to the Saints. According to Greg Auman of The Athletic, Evans said Thursday that the hamstring issue prevented him from practicing for two weeks before the game against the Saints, which helps explain why he was a relative non-factor in the Tampa Bay passing attack. Despite playing 65 of the team's 70 offensive snaps, Evans corralled just one of four targets for a two-yard touchdown. He believes more practice time this week should allow him to take on a more significant role Week 2 against the Panthers, and the potential absence of Chris Godwin (concussion) -- who missed his second straight practice Thursday -- would open up even more volume in the passing game for Evans.
Sep 16, 2020
Held back Wednesday
Evans (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite the will he or won't he before the Buccaneers' Week 1 loss at New Orleans, Evans played 65 of 70 offensive snaps and scored a touchdown among his four targets. Clearly, his status will be one to watch as this week goes on, but his ability to take part in the first practice of Week 2 is a sign that he's attempting to gut out his hamstring injury and continue to suit up on game days.
Sep 13, 2020
Finds end zone in Sunday's loss
Evans caught one of four targets for a two-yard touchdown in Sunday's 34-23 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
The receiver headed into Week 1 a question mark due to a hamstring strain, and while Evans was active his usage suggests he may not have been 100 percent. New Bucs quarterback Tom Brady did look his way in the red zone in the fourth quarter, however, as Tampa attempted a comeback. With another week to heal, Evans should be a bigger part of the game plan in Week 2 against a Panthers defense that looked more vulnerable on the ground than through the air in its opener.
Sep 13, 2020
Active in Week 1
Evans (hamstring) is active for Sunday's Week 1 tilt against the Saints, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans has been trending in the right direction since Saturday, when he was upgraded from doubtful to questionable following a limited practice Friday. The sixth-year wideout followed it up with a pregame workout that reportedly included several full-speed springs, cementing his active status for this season-opening divisional showdown. With no reported limitations in terms of a snap count, there is cautious optimism Evans will fill his usual role as one of the top targets in an aggressive Buccaneers offense now helmed by future Hall of Famer Tom Brady.
Sep 13, 2020
Pre-game workout reportedly goes well
The Buccaneers "liked what they saw" during Evans' (hamstring) pre-game workout Sunday, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Glazer, "unless something changes," Evans will give it a go Sunday against the Saints. Confirmation of the wideout's Week 1 status, either way, will arrive when the Bucs release their inactives in advance of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.
Sep 13, 2020
Status to be decided after workout
The Buccaneers plan to put Evans (hamstring) through a pregame workout before determining his status for Sunday's game against the Saints, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Glazer expects Evans' workout to take place around 1:30 p.m. ET, after the first wave of games have already kicked off. As a result, fantasy managers waiting for confirmation on Evans' status before including him in lineups may have to roll the dice and hope that he's good to go for the Buccaneers' season opener, which kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET. Glazer notes that even if Evans gains clearance to play following the workout, the Buccaneers plan to be cautious with the wideout, who may not handle a full snap count. After managing only one limited practice this week due to the hamstring injury, Evans was initially listed as doubtful for the Week 1 contest before being upgraded to questionable Saturday.

On track to play Sunday
Evans (hamstring) could have a limited snap count but is expected to play Sunday against the Saints, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old was considered doubtful after practicing as a limited participant Friday, but he was upgraded to questionable on Saturday's injury report. Evans likely will still need to be officially cleared via a pregame workout, but the team is apparently optimistic he'll be able to play in the season opener.

Upgraded to questionable
Evans (hamstring) has been upgraded from doubtful to questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It's hard to view this as anything but a step in the right direction, but the plan has always been for Evans to essentially be a game-time call Sunday. Evans managed to practice Friday in a limited capacity so Saturday's upgrade certainly seems like a positive indication of the star wideout's status. Fantasy managers should still keep tabs on Evans' status leading up to the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.

Called 'doubtful' for Week 1
Evans (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's contest at New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers seem to be waiting until Sunday to make a final call on Evans' availability for Week 1, but the fact he was tagged with a "doubtful" designation is not a great sign that he'll be active. He did get back on the practice field Friday in a limited capacity, but if Evans is unable to suit up this weekend, Chris Godwin will be the unquestioned No. 1 wide receiver, while Scotty Miller, Justin Watson and rookie Tyler Johnson will be candidates for additional snaps.

Takes part in Friday's practice
Evans (hamstring) took part in Friday's practice, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It appears Evans was only able to practice on a limited basis Friday, but it's a good sign that he was on the field after sitting out the previous two day. While Evans' participation provides reason for optimism, his status for Week 1 has not yet been determined, and may not be until game day.

Not partaking in practice
Evans (hamstring) wasn't spotted on the field during the portion of Thursday's practice that was open to the media, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Instead, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times notes that Evans worked outside on the field with team trainer Bobby Slater, while the Bucs' healthy players practiced indoors. With that in mind, Evans is poised to go down as a non-participant in practice for the second day in a row, leaving his availability for Sunday's season opener at New Orleans uncertain. Head coach Bruce Arians suggested that Evans could end up being a game-time call for the Week 1 matchup, but the wideout's activity (or lack thereof) in Friday's session should provide more insight into whether he's trending toward active or inactive status.

Could be game-time decision Sunday
Coach Bruce Arians told Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site that Evans, who didn't practice Wednesday due to a hamstring injury, may be a game-time call Sunday at New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Arians relayed Evans doesn't have to practice this week in order to play, but the decision will "go all the way to the wire." It should be noted Evans missed the final three games of last season due to a strained right hamstring, so his status will be watched closely as Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff draws closer. If he's unable to suit up, the opening would free up reps for Justin Watson and perhaps rookie Tyler Johnson, who sit directly behind him on the depth chart.

Misses practice with injury
Evans was held out of practice Wednesday, with coach Bruce Arians saying the wide receiver is day-to-day due to a soft tissue injury, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
This is the first report of any issue for Evans this summer, and the timing is cause for concern even if the Buccaneers don't think it's a serious injury. The wideout has some history of hamstring and groin injuries, including a three-game absence to close out last season. Another update should be available Wednesday afternoon when the Bucs release their initial injury report for Sunday's game in New Orleans.

Chemistry quick with Brady
Evans and new quarterback Tom Brady have repeatedly connected on impressive completions during early training camp practices, Carmen Vitali of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The arrival of Brady was naturally expected to be a boon for Evans' fantasy prospects, but the additional confirmation early practices are providing is certainly welcome. Evans has made several difficult catches look easy in the first few throwing sessions of camp, and the Pro Bowl receiver has worked open on multiple occasions when Brady's initial reads haven't been there. Vitali separately reports Evans also impressed with a leaping grab and one-handed catch in Sunday's session, on passes from Brady, lending credence to the notion the work the two put in during informal workouts at Berkeley Preparatory School in June is already paying dividends.

Starts getting work with Brady
Evans (hamstring) was among a contingent of Buccaneers skill-position players that worked out with Tom Brady at Berkeley Preparatory School on Tuesday, Rick Stroud and Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times report.
ANALYSIS
Team facilities are beginning to open up to a limited number of administrative employees, but coaches and players are still prohibited. However, the NFL is allowing players to get together for workouts in their local cities as long as they are abiding by governmental regulations, and with Florida beginning to quickly loosen restrictions, Brady has wasted no time getting together with as many of his key skill players as possible. Evans is naturally at the had of that group, and Tuesday, he could be seen walking through routes alongside his new quarterback in order to nail down exactly where Brady wants him to make his cuts. Evans averaged 78.8 receptions, 1,241.8 yards and 7.2 touchdowns across 15 games per season over his five campaigns playing with Jameis Winston, and those already impressive numbers are expected to potentially see a boost with the significant upgrade at quarterback.

Gains HOF-worthy battery mate
Evans (hamstring) is slated to catch passes from Tom Brady during the 2020 season now that the latter has signed with the Buccaneers, Jim Trotter of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite playing with interception-prone Jameis Winston, Evans proved to be an excellent fit for coach Bruce Arians' offense during his first season within the scheme. The towering wideout generated a solid 67-1,157-8 line across 13 games before a hamstring injury robbed him of the last trio of regular-season contests. Evans has averaged over 17.0 yards per grab in each of the last two seasons, a stretch during which he's logged 43 receptions of 20 or more yards, including 13 of greater than 40 yards. There are some lingering questions about Brady's arm strength after he reportedly dealt with some elbow issues over the final quarter of the 2019 campaign, but

Unable to play in Pro Bowl
Evans (hamstring) didn't play in the Pro Bowl.
ANALYSIS
Evans was named to the initial roster and later replaced by Amari Cooper. The Bucs' star wideout missed the final three weeks of the regular season with a hamstring injury, but he nonetheless surpassed 1,000 yards for a sixth time in as many pro seasons. Evans is signed through 2023, while quarterback Jameis Winston just completed the fifth and final season of his rookie contract. There hasn't been any report of Evans requiring offseason surgery.

MRI coming Monday
Evans is slated to undergo an MRI on Monday as the Buccaneers look to determine the severity of the right hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday's 38-35 win over the Colts, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers seem to be bracing for bad news on Evans' tests, as coach Bruce Arians said after Sunday's game that he would be "shocked" if the wideout is ready to play before Week 17, per Laine. Evans at least made an impact for fantasy managers before departing in the first quarter with the hamstring injury, which he tweaked while outrunning Colts cornerback Pierre Desir on a 61-yard touchdown reception. Second-year receiver Justin Watson stepped up the most following Evans' exit, finishing with five grabs on eight targets for 59 yards and his first career touchdown.

Season potentially over
The hamstring injury Evans suffered in Sunday's 38-35 win over the Colts could be of the season-ending variety, Roy Cummings of PewterPirates.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans pulled up lame after taking his only reception 61 yards for a touchdown in the first half against the Colts. Head coach Bruce Arians sounded a highly pessimistic tone about Evans' status in his postgame press conference, saying the word on the Pro Bowl receiver was "not good". More updates are certain to come over the next 24-to-48 hours, with an MRI almost assuredly on tap. In the interim, with what appears to be at least a one-game absence in Evans' immediate future, Chris Godwin and Breshad Perriman could be the primary beneficiaries.

Injures hamstring, won't return
Evans won't return to Sunday's game versus the Colts due to a hamstring injury, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jameis Winston hit Evans in stride for a 61-yard TD near the end of the first quarter, but in the process the wide receiver pulled up at the end of the play and seemed to be favoring his right hamstring. With no chance to return Sunday, Evans' status will be monitored closely to get a sense of the injury.

Left off injury report
Evans (quadriceps/groin) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans has dealt with a number of lower-body injuries since the midpoint of the offseason program, limiting him to one appearance during the preseason. This cap in reps seems to have done him wonders, as he'll go through Week 1 prep without an injury designation. Working within new coach Bruce Arians aerial attack, Evans will look to extend his 1,000-yard streak to six seasons to begin his career.
