Cleared to play Week 11
Sewell (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Sewell is in line to make his 2024 regular-season debut Sunday. He started the season on the reserve/PUP list while recovering from a torn ACL injury he suffered in December of 2023. Sewell's ability to practice in full all week prompted his activated from the PUP list Saturday, and he will provide depth at linebacker behind starters Pete Werner, Demario Davis and Willie Gay.

Activated off PUP ahead of Week 11
The Saints activated Sewell (knee) from the reserve/PUP list Saturday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sewell suffered an ACL injury in Week 17 of the 2023 regular season, and his recovery prompted the Saints to place the 27-year-old on the PUP list at the start of the regular season. He's still listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns, but if he's cleared to play, Sewell would give the Saints depth at linebacker, which is timely considering starter Pete Werner (hand) is considered a game-time decision.

Won't return Week 10
Sewell (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Sewell has been on the Saints' reserve/PUP list since the start of the regular season while working his way back from an ACL injury from Week 17 of the 2023 season. While he was able to practice in full all week, he appears to need more time before returning to action. Sewell's next opportunity to make his 2024 regular-season debut will be against the Browns in Week 11.

Designated to return
Sewell (knee) was designated to return from the reserve/PUP list Wednesday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sewell has missed New Orleans' first eight games this year while recovering from a torn ACL sustained in Week 17 of the 2023 season. The Utah product will now have 21 days to be activated to the Saints' active roster before reverting to IR. Expect Sewell to serve as one of New Orleans' top rotational inside linebackers once he returns to the field.

Unavailable to open season
Sewell (knee) was placed on the reserve/PUP list by the Saints on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Sewell is still working his way back from the torn ACL he suffered in Week 17 of the 2023 season and he'll be forced to miss at least the first four games of the 2024 campaign. The linebacker will be first eligible to return in Week 5 against Kansas City on Oct. 7.

Starts camp on active/PUP
The Saints placed Sewell (knee) on the active/PUP list Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sewell suffered a torn ACL in Week 17 last season and isn't yet 100 percent. Undrafted out of Utah in 2022, Sewell has appeared in 20 games for the Saints over the last two seasons, mainly focusing on special teams. He'll likely fill a similar role in 2024.

Still on the mend
Sewell (knee) isn't expected to be ready for training camp, Katherine Terrell of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Given that Sewell tore his ACL in Week 17 last season, it's not surprising that the linebacker is on track to be eased back into the mix. Once healthy, the 25-year-old -- who recorded 15 tackles in 16 regular-season outings last year -- is in line to reprise his depth/special teams teams role with the Saints in 2024.

Officially moves to IR
Sewell (knee) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old linebacker out of Utah tore his ACL in the Saints' Week 17 win over the Buccaneers, so it's no surprise that he's shifted over to IR. Sewell appeared in 16 games for New Orleans this season, recording 15 total tackles, including two tackles for loss and forcing one fumble while playing 323 total snaps (57 defensive and 266 on special teams).

Season ends early
Sewell suffered an ACL injury, which will require surgery, in the Saints' win over the Buccaneers on Sunday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sewell will now focus on prep for surgery, as opposed to New Orleans' Week 18 opponent, the Falcons. The Utah product's second NFL season will come to an end with 16 games played, 15 tackles (11 solo) and a forced fumble while mostly covering on special teams. It's not clear what type of ACL injury specifically Sewell is dealing with, or if he's in danger of missing most of or any of the 2024 campaign.
Dec 31, 2023
Will not return
Sewell (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Sewell needed to be carted off of the field, although the severity of the injury is not yet known. The second-year pro has primarily worked on special teams this season, so his absence shouldn't impact the Saints' linebacker corps for the remainder of the contest.
Dec 5, 2023
Plays well in first start
Sewell recorded eight tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 33-28 loss versus the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Week 13 was the first time Sewell played more than seven defensive snaps in a game as a pro (40), so he predictably also posted a career-high tackle total. The size of his role in Week 14 will still probably depend on the availability of 2021 second-rounder Pete Werner (oblique).
Dec 3, 2023
Starting Week 13
Sewell is warming up in the injured Pete Werner's (oblique) spot Sunday, and he's expected to make his first career start in Week 13, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old linebacker has appeared in 15 games over the course of his NFL career, logging six total tackles (all coming in 2023). Sewell has primarily been a special-teamer for New Orleans, playing only eight total defense snaps over the last two seasons. He'll have big shoes to fill in Week 13, as Werner ranks second on the Saints in total stops on the year (67).
