Season-low snap count versus Bills
Gray couldn't retrieve his lone target during Sunday's 28-21 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Gray saw a steep decline in usage during Sunday's tilt, likely due to the Chiefs trailing most of the game and utilizing a more pass-centric approach than usual. Gray's 37 percent snap share marked his lowest snap share of the season, and his 22 offensive snaps were a season-low mark. Gray doesn't possess much fantasy appeal as a backup tight end to Travis Kelce but could move on to the radar should Kelce miss any time in the future.
Oct 28, 2025
Targeted four times in Week 8
Gray reeled in two of four targets for 23 yards during Monday's 28-7 victory against the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Gray continues to see healthy usage in a heavy two-tight end offensive scheme in KC, playing 55-plus percent of the snaps in every game since Week 2. Even so, Gray doesn't provide a ton in the way of fantasy value, registering more than two catches just once all season while failing to reach pay dirt yet. Gray figures to remain a background figure in the offense as long as star tight end Travis Kelce is on the field.
Oct 21, 2025
Makes most of lone target
Gray gathered in his only target for 28 yards during Sunday's 31-0 victory versus the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Gray continued a trend that isn't particularly promising from a fantasy standpoint, logging two or fewer targets for the fourth consecutive contest. His 59 percent offensive snap share is around par for the course, but the Chiefs took a 21-0 lead into the halftime locker room and added 10 more points in the third quarter, leading to a run-heavy approach for much of the second half. Even in close games, Gray isn't involved enough in the game plan to warrant a roster spot in the majority of fantasy formats.
Oct 14, 2025
Season-high yardage total in Week 6
Gray reeled in both of his targets for 25 yards during Sunday's 30-17 win versus the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Gray hasn't posted any fantasy-worthy stat lines this season, notching no more than three catches in a contest. He's recorded just eight catches for 47 yards overall this season and has yet to reach pay dirt after doing so five times last season. Gray isn't of particular fantasy interest as long as Travis Kelce remains available, but he could spark some interest should Kelce miss any time.
Sep 30, 2025
Minimal impact in Week 4
Gray gathered in his only target for one yard during Sunday's 37-20 win versus the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Gray's Week 4 showing is a bit of a disappointment after he claimed a combined 11 targets over the previous two contests. Gray has combined his season efforts to accumulate just six catches for 22 yards through four games, and any value he may have likely directly links to the availability of Travis Kelce. As long as Kelce is healthy and playing his full complement of snaps, Gray is unlikely to find fantasy relevance, barring the occasional touchdown.
Sep 24, 2025
Targeted six times in win
Gray caught three of six targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 22-9 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Gray played 68 percent of the Chiefs' offensive snaps Sunday, his highest snap share of the season. Meanwhile, teammate Travis Kelce played 74 percent of the snaps, his lowest mark through three games. Despite his increase in snap share and targets, Gray was unable to get much going while the Kansas City's offense continues to try to find its footing early in the 2025 campaign. The 26-year-old remains difficult to trust for fantasy purposes heading into a Week 4 matchup against the Ravens.
Sep 16, 2025
One catch in loss
Gray caught one of five targets for one yard in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Despite seeing an uptick in playing time and targets in Week 2, Gray was to make the most of his opportunities. After playing just 41 percent of the Chiefs' offensive snaps in Week 1 and seeing only one target, the veteran tight end's five targets tied for the second-highest total of any Kansas City pass catcher against the Eagles while seeing his snap share jump to 65 percent. With the Chiefs' offense struggling so far this season and Travis Kelce healthy, Gray's does not have a clear path to meaningful production. The 26-year-old should remain far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 3 matchup against the Giants.
Sep 6, 2025
Secures only target in Week 1 loss
Gray brought in his lone target for three yards during the Chiefs' 27-21 loss to the Chargers on Friday night.
ANALYSIS
Gray played 41 percent of offensive snaps behind top tight end Travis Kelce, but even with Xavier Worthy (shoulder) being forced off the field after three snaps and Rashee Rice (suspension) unavailable, his target share didn't notably increase. He'll again contribute behind Kelce as Kansas City prepares for a Super Bowl rematch against the Eagles in Week 2.
Jan 7, 2025
Minimal action in Week 18
Gray gathered in his only target for one yard during Sunday's 38-0 loss versus the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Gray wound up playing just four snaps in the contest with the top seed in the AFC already in hand, and he managed to secure his lone target on the day for just a yard, but it got him to a round number of grabs for the 2024 season. He capped off his fourth season with career-bests across the board, turning the 40 grabs into 437 yards and five touchdowns on 49 targets. Gray inked a contract extension with the Chiefs before the 2024 campaign, so he's potentially tied to the team through the 2027 season.
Dec 27, 2024
Another one-catch outing
Gray caught his only target for six yards in Wednesday's 29-10 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Gray was the only player to catch exactly one pass from Patrick Mahomes on Wednesday while seven Chiefs recorded two or more receptions. After posting four consecutive four-catch performances in Weeks 11-14, Gray has added only four catches in Weeks 15-17 combined.
Dec 23, 2024
Makes one grab versus Houston
Gray secured his only target for 10 yards during Saturday's 27-19 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Gray saw his lowest target total since Week 9 during Saturday's win, which featured the long-awaited regular-season debut of Hollywood Brown in a Chiefs uniform. He remained around his usual snap share, playing 50 percent of offensive snaps behind starter Travis Kelce. Gray will remain on the fantasy radar in leagues that start multiple tight ends heading into Wednesday's road matchup against Pittsburgh.
Dec 17, 2024
Crosses goal line against Browns
Gray logged two receptions (on five targets) for 21 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 21-7 win against Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Gray didn't cross the 60-percent snap threshold in Week 15 like he did in the two previous contests, and he was unable to match the four grabs he totaled in each of the previous four games, but he made one of his two catches count by turning in his fifth touchdown of the 2025 campaign. Gray still amassed five targets in the contest -- his average over the last five games -- but Patrick Mahomes' ankle sprain could be worrisome for the Chiefs' receiving weapons. If he's unable to go against the Texans, Carson Wentz would land the start under center, presumably capping the upside of Gray and others at a bit lower mark than usual. On a positive note, Gray has clearly etched out a regular role as the No. 2 tight end and should continue to log 50-plus percent of the offensive snaps.
Dec 10, 2024
Notches four grabs against Chargers
Gray reeled in four of five targets for 26 yards during Sunday's 19-17 victory against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Gray continues to see consistent work alongside Travis Kelce in two-tight end sets, claiming a 61 percent snap count share during Week 14, surpassing 60 percent of offensive snaps in three of the past four weeks. He's also logged an uptick in production over that four-game span, equaling his previous season high with four catches in each of the four games. Still, Gray is likely touchdown-dependent to claim fantasy relevance weekly, and he hasn't done so in either of the last two games after reaching pay dirt four times between Weeks 11 and 12. Next up is a Browns defense sitting around the bottom third of the league against tight ends, so Gray may have another opportunity to produce in Week 15.
Nov 30, 2024
Productive again in Week 13
Gray finished Friday's 19-17 victory against Las Vegas with four catches on six targets for 58 yards.
ANALYSIS
Though Gray couldn't get into the end zone after tallying two touchdowns in each of his previous two games, the fourth-year tight end still had a strong showing, as he ranked third on Kansas City in receiving yards. Two of his receptions went for over 20 yards, and Gray surpassed 50 yards overall for the third time this season. It's become clear of late that Gray (62 percent offensive snap share) and Travis Kelce (90 percent offensive snap share), who logged seven catches for 68 yards in the victory, can both be productive while sharing tight end duties for the Chiefs.
Nov 25, 2024
Two more scores
Gray recorded four catches on four targets for 66 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Gray scored twice for the second consecutive week, this time coming on receptions of 35 and 11 yards. He's now earned at least four targets in consecutive games and seems to be prioritized ahead of peripheral pass catchers in the Chiefs' offense such as JuJu Smith-Schuster and Justin Watson. That could give Gray some streaming appeal going forward, though his overall lack of volume still makes him unreliable on a weekly basis.
Nov 19, 2024
Posts first career multi-TD game
Gray gathered in four of five targets for 23 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 30-21 loss against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Gray didn't finish the day with a particularly standout fantasy line, but he did make the most of his targets in the red zone, collecting a pair of them in the end zone for his first career multi-touchdown effort. Gray played only two snaps fewer than Travis Kelce in Sunday's affair. He should continue to see regular reps in two-tight end sets and when Kelce needs a breather. That said, Gray's two touchdowns Sunday also marked his first two of the season, so this effort should be banked as more of an anomaly than an expected outcome moving forward.
Nov 12, 2024
Sees downturn in playing time
Gray hauled in each of his two targets for 18 yards during Sunday's 16-14 win versus the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
After a promising four-game stretch spanning from Weeks 4-8 that saw Gray post 13 catches for 158 yards, the fourth-year tight end has posted just two catches total over the past two games. Gray also saw a slight downturn in his playing time, logging just 39 snaps (57 percent) after crossing the 60-percent threshold in each of the last three games. Either way, Gray has yet to find pay dirt this season and is the clear No. 2 at tight end, so he's likely nothing more than a deep dynasty stash at this point.
Nov 5, 2024
No catches in win
Gray didn't catch his lone target in Monday's 30-24 overtime win versus the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Gray has performed quite well this season as the No. 2 tight end behind star TE Travis Kelce, as the former has produced 17 receptions for 208 yards through eight games. He needs to find the end zone to have any fantasy appeal.
Oct 29, 2024
Season-high snap share in Week 8
Gray hauled in all three of his targets for 23 yards during Sunday's 27-20 victory against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Gray continues to see significant work and has posted a combined seven catches for 89 yards over the last two weeks after compiling only 10 catches over the first five games to open the year. He's also seen a spike in playing time as the Chiefs run more two-tight end sets. Gray likely remains off the radar in most redraft formats but could be worth consideration in some dynasty formats as the heir apparent to the lead tight end role when Travis Kelce calls it quits.
Oct 20, 2024
Leading receiver on four targets
Gray brought in all four of his targets for 66 yards in Sunday's 28-18 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Gray finished as the Chiefs' leading receiver in a odd game that featured no passing touchdowns from either side. San Francisco keyed its defensive focus on limiting star tight end Travis Kelce (4-17-0), allowing the 25-year-old Gray to operate freely for his highest receiving total of the season. Fantasy managers should consider this a high-water mark for Gray so long as Kelce remains healthy, which the latter should be for next Sunday's tilt against the Raiders.
Oct 8, 2024
Claims two passes on MNF
Gray gathered in both of his targets for 29 yards during Monday's 26-13 victory against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Gray saw his workload climb a bit Monday as the Chiefs ran more two-tight sets, and this could prove to be a theme moving forward with Hollywood Brown (shoulder) and Rashee Rice (knee) both done for the regular season and potentially beyond. Even if that's the case, Gray hasn't emerged as a major threat in the passing attack just yet, but he has reeled in 10 of 11 targets for 119 yards to date. Gray is likely fine to leave on waivers in most formats, but he could hold some small value in dynasty leagues as the probable heir to the starting role once Travis Kelce hangs up the cleats, signing a three-year contract extension prior to the season.
Oct 1, 2024
Posts season-best line in Week 4
Gray reeled in all four of his targets for 40 yards during Sunday's 17-10 win versus the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Gray's four grabs and 40 yards were high-water marks for the season. He played 32 offensive snaps in the contest, which is about on par with his previous work. The fourth-year tight could claim a heavier share of the snap pie moving forward following star wideout Rashee Rice's knee injury Sunday. Outside of veteran tight end Travis Kelce and rookie Xavier Worthy, the Chiefs will need some pass-catching options to step up. Gray's 4-40 line from Sunday at least displays a pulse in what otherwise was a struggling group behind Kelce and Worthy. Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, head coach Andy Reid plans to spread the ball around more widely moving forward. That could mean more work for Gray.
Sep 24, 2024
Snares one pass in Week 3
Gray logged one reception (on two targets) for 13 yards during Sunday's 22-17 victory over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Gray continues to operate in the second-string role at tight end behind Travis Kelce, playing 50 percent of the offensive snaps in Sunday's tilt. However, he only ran 14 routes in the game, which isn't particularly conducive to a sizable fantasy output. Barring Travis Kelce missing time, Gray isn't worth rostering in fantasy formats other than dynasty, where he could hold future value once Kelce calls it quits.
Sep 17, 2024
No impression on Week 2 box score
Gray went untargeted during Sunday's 26-25 victory over Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
On a more positive note, Gray still played 57 percent of the offensive snaps in the game, marking a slight bump from his playing time in the opener against the Ravens. Still, he's unlikely to compile worthwhile fantasy totals while serving in the second-string role at tight end, especially with an additional weapon available to Patrick Mahomes in rookie Xavier Worthy, and with second-year wideout Rashee Rice still gobbling up a hefty target share. Gray could enter the conversation a bit more should Travis Kelce miss some time.
Sep 6, 2024
Makes three grabs in Week 1 win
Gray secured all three of his targets for 37 yards during Thursday's 27-20 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Gray outperformed star tight end Travis Kelce, who had three grabs for 34 yards despite drawing one more target, during Kansas City's season opener. The 2021 fifth-round pick, who signed a three-year extension just prior to Thursday's game, played 54 percent of offensive snaps compared to Kelce's 89 percent, so he remains relegated to backup duties heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Bengals. Still, if Gray can continue looking solid in two-TE sets, he may emerge as a viable fantasy option in leagues that require multiple starting tight ends.
Sep 5, 2024
Inks three-year extension
The Chiefs signed Gray to a three-year, $18 million contract extension Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The deal contains $10.1 million guaranteed. Gray was set to enter the final year of his rookie deal in 2024, but the two sides worked out an extension ahead of Thursday night's kickoff with the Ravens. Gray hasn't produced much in the box score across three seasons, turning in a 63-640-4 receiving line across 50 games, but he's cemented himself as Travis Kelce's top backup.
Jan 17, 2024
Production stagnates in 2023
Gray finished the 2023 regular season with 28 catches for 305 yards and two touchdowns on 41 targets.
ANALYSIS
While Gray didn't take a step back this season, he didn't really leap forward offensively either, essentially matching his numbers from a season ago. Travis Kelce turns 35 in October and is likely drawing closer to the end of his career, so the Chiefs' brass may evaluate this offseason whether Gray is the future of the tight end position in KC. Gray remains on his rookie deal through the 2024 campaign and will presumably continue to contribute in two-tight end sets next season, assuming the Chiefs don't pursue a tight end in the 2024 NFL Draft. Kelce has indicated he doesn't intend to retire any time soon and remains under contract through 2025, so Gray doesn't have a clear path to upgraded playing time next season either.
Jan 2, 2024
Nabs three passes
Gray gathered in three of four targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 25-17 win against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Gray continues to see work alongside Travis Kelce at tight end in two-tight end sets, but he hasn't reeled in more than three passes in a game this year. He has just two touchdowns on the ledger. He hasn't compiled more than 38 receiving yards in a game this year, leaving him well off the fantasy radar in leagues besides potentially holding him in deep dynasty formats, where he could gain value should Kelce elect to retire after the 2023 campaign. That said, Gray could see slightly heightened value in Week 18 if the Chiefs, who are locked into the No. 3 seed in the AFC, elect to rest Kelce and some of the other veterans.
Nov 29, 2023
Records three receptions
Gray played 30 of the Chiefs' 60 snaps on offense and finished with three catches for 30 yards on three targets in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Gray failed to record a reception for the first time all season in the Chiefs' Week 11 loss to the Eagles, but he was able to bounce back nicely in Kansas City's come-from-behind win over the Raiders. As long as top tight end Travis Kelce is available, Gray is unlikely to rank as anything more than a tertiary option in the Kansas City passing game, though the Duke product does at least see fairly consistent involvement. Gray has drawn between one and five targets in each of his 11 appearances to date.
Oct 16, 2023
Minimal impact continues
Gray reeled in both of his targets for 14 yards during Thursday's 19-8 victory against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
While Gray is seeing a decent number of snaps consistently, it's simply the case among any targets not named Travis Kelce in the passing attack that the looks are going to be widely distributed. Gray has no more than three targets in a contest since the season opener, and there's little reason to expect any change on that front as long as Kelce is available.
Oct 10, 2023
Notches pair of catches Sunday
Gray gathered in both of his targets for 21 yards during Sunday's 27-20 victory versus the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Gray saw an uptick in his playing time this week due to Travis Kelce missing some action during the contest after Kelce suffered an ankle injury midgame. Pending the status of Kelce for Thursday's contest against the Broncos, Gray could be in line for a slightly healthier workload, though that doesn't guarantee a sizable fantasy output.
Sep 29, 2023
Ready to go at Jets
Gray (illness) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game at the Jets.
ANALYSIS
After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday with an illness, Gray was a full participant at practice Friday and will suit up for Week 4. His snap count has remained relatively steady even with the return of Travis Kelce, but he's only seen five targets over the past two games.
Sep 28, 2023
Still recovering from illness
Gray (illness) did not practice Thursday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gray was also absent from practice Wednesday, as he continues to work to get himself back to full health. The Duke product still has a couple of days to recover before the team's game against the Jets on Sunday, but he'll remain questionable for the contest for now.
Sep 27, 2023
Dealing with illness
Gray (illness) will not practice Wednesday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gray still has a few days to recover before the team's Week 4 contest with the Jets, but he can currently be considered questionable for the game. If he's unable to play, Blake Bell would likely need to step into a larger workload, while the Chiefs may need to elevate Matt Bushman from the practice squad.
Sep 20, 2023
Catches three passes
Gray secured all three of his targets for 38 yards in Sunday's 17-9 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Gray reeled in three catches for the second-straight week, despite Travis Kelce making his 2023 debut in Week 2. Surprisingly, the third-year tight end's 41 offensive snaps Sunday were just two fewer than that of Kelce, who saw a team-high nine targets in the contest. Gray's role will likely be limited moving forward and should keep him off the fantasy radar in Week 3 when the Chiefs host the Bears.
Sep 17, 2023
Headed back to No. 2 role
Gray is set to serve as the Chiefs' No. 2 tight end in Sunday's game against the Jaguars with starter Travis Kelce (knee) listed as questionable but expected to make his season debut, Ed Easton Jr. of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
While Kelce was sidelined for the Chiefs' season-opening loss to the Lions, Gray stepped into a starting role and played a career-high 87 percent of Kansas City's offensive snaps. Despite the heightened snap count, Gray didn't come close to matching Kelce's usual production as a receiver, recording three catches for 31 yards on five targets. Though Gray often took the field for more than half of the Chiefs' offensive snaps in games when Kelce was available last season, the former often served as a blocker or tertiary option in the passing game. With Kelce back in the fold Week 2, Gray can probably be counted on for only two or three targets.
Sep 8, 2023
Serviceable in Week 1 spot start
Gray brought in three of five targets for 31 yards in the Chiefs' 21-20 loss to the Lions on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Gray drew the start for Travis Kelce (knee), but it was fellow tight end Blake Bell who scored a touchdown between the two fill-ins. However, Gray tied for second in receptions and third in receiving yards on the night for the Chiefs, which used an all-hands-on-deck approach in their attempt to make up for Kelce's absence. The third-year pro took a sizable step forward in his production in 2022 with a 28-299-1 line on 34 targets, so Thursday's production could be somewhat indicative of what could be another incremental bump in volume in the new season, even when Kelce is healthy.
Sep 7, 2023
Expected to start for injured Kelce
Gray is expected to serve as the Chiefs' starting tight end for Thursday's game against the Lions with Travis Kelce (knee) inactive for the contest, Sports Radio 810 WHB Kansas City reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs have Blake Bell and practice-squad call-up Matt Bushman available as additional options at tight end, but Gray is listed second on the depth chart and should thus be first in line to fill in for Kelce, who will miss his first game since Week 16 of the 2021 season. Gray technically already has nine other NFL starts to his name, but Thursday's contest should represent the most prominent opportunity he's had in his three-year NFL career to date. Even while backing Kelce up the past two seasons, Gray has averaged 1.3 targets per contest, but expect the Duke product to pick up at least a couple extra looks from Patrick Mahomes while he represents the Chiefs' top pass-catching option at tight end.
Sep 5, 2023
Could start Week 1 if Kelce sits
Gray appears to be first in line to serve as the Chiefs' top pass-catching tight end in Thursday's game against the Lions if Travis Kelce (knee) is sidelined for the contest, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce departed Tuesday's practice with a hyperextended knee, and while the Chiefs' initial feeling is that the eight-time Pro Bowler avoided a long-term injury, his status is in doubt for Thursday's season opener, per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. If Kelce ends up sitting or is limited in some capacity Thursday, Gray likely wouldn't command the same sort of target volume as Kelce usually does, but the third-year Duke product may still draw enough looks in the passing game to make for an intriguing streaming option in Week 1. Even while Kelce suited up in all 17 regular-season games in 2022, Gray played north of 50 percent of the offensive snaps in 12 of those contests and turned in a 28-299-1 receiving line on 34 targets while also scoring on his lone rushing attempt. Blake Bell is the lone other tight end on the Chiefs' 53-man roster, while Matt Bushman could be elevated from the practice squad to add depth to the position group.
Jan 17, 2023
One catch in regular-season finale
Gray gathered in their only target for 14 yards during Saturday's 31-13 win against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Gray tallied just one catch in each of the final three games of the regular season and no more than three in any single game while reaching pay dirt just once through the air and once on the ground. Gray at least finished 2022 with an offensive snap count percentage (52.7) north of 50 for the first time in his young career and may be aligned as the top in-house option to take over at tight end once Travis Kelce retires. Until then, and assuming the team doesn't upgrade the tight end depth by other means, Gray is largely irrelevant from a fantasy perspective aside from some deep dynasty formats.
Dec 20, 2022
Grabs another three passes
Gray reeled in all three targets for 31 yards during Sunday's 30-24 overtime win versus Houston.
ANALYSIS
Gray has accumulated three grabs in each of the last two weeks, a number he has reached four times but hasn't bested so far this year. Gray also has just two touchdowns -- one receiving and one rushing -- on the season, so he's not particularly relevant in most formats. However, he may still be worthy as a bench stash in some dynasty leagues just in case he takes over as the starting tight end in Kansas City once Travis Kelce retires.
Dec 13, 2022
Nabs three passes versus Houston
Gray reeled in all three targets for 45 yards during Sunday's 34-28 win against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Gray has played a fair amount over the last four weeks, logging snap shares near or above 60 percent. He matched a season-high total for both yards and receptions Sunday, which speaks to where he's currently at as a fantasy tight end. Gray doesn't fit on many rosters at this point but could be worth a stash in some dynasty formats as the potential heir at the tight end position in Kansas City once Travis Kelce hangs up the cleats.
Nov 30, 2022
Adds two more catches to ledger
Gray was on the field for 49 of the Chiefs' 76 snaps on offense and caught two passes for 16 yards on two targets in Sunday's 26-10 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Even though he's the Chiefs' No. 2 tight end behind Travis Kelce, Gray has arguably out-produced multiple low-end starters around the NFL while he continues to share the field frequently with the seven-time Pro Bowler. Gray has played at least 43 percent of the Chiefs' offensive snaps in each of the team's first 11 games and has drawn at least one target on each occasion, producing an 18-174-1 receiving line in the process. He's also added a one-yard rushing touchdown to his ledger. Should Kelce miss time at any point over the Chiefs' remaining six regular-season contests, Gray could represent an intriguing option in fantasy lineups.
Nov 15, 2022
Hits paydirt in Week 10
Gray recorded two receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes found both of his top two tight ends for scores in the Week 10 victory, as Travis Kelce also cashed in with a seven-yard touchdown grab late in the third quarter. Kelce remains locked in as the Chiefs' top pass catcher and arguably the best fantasy tight end, but Gray often shares the field with him and has held a consistent, albeit low-upside role within the Kansas City offense. In the Chiefs' nine games, Gray's offensive snap share has ranged between 41 and 57 percent, and he's drawn between one and three targets in each of those contests.
Oct 5, 2022
Credited with first rushing TD
Gray carried once for a one-yard touchdown in Sunday's 41-31 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Though the tight end couldn't corral his lone target on the night, he found paydirt for the first time this season when he motioned in front of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and plunged across the goal line on a direct snap. All three of the Chiefs' tight ends finished the game with six points, as Travis Kelce and Jody Fortson both recorded receiving touchdowns. Moving forward, Gray and Fortson will likely continue to function mostly as blockers whenever they're on the field.
Sep 27, 2022
Records longest reception of career
Gray recorded a 26-yard reception on two targets while playing 25 of the Chiefs' 59 offensive snaps in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Gray's 26-yard catch and run with less than a minute left in the third quarter marked the longest reception through his first two seasons in the NFL. With snap shares ranging between 42 and 55 percent in each of the three games the Chiefs have played this season, Gray has carved out a larger role than anticipated behind top tight end Travis Kelce. Head coach Andy Reid hasn't been shy about having Gray and Kelce share the field together, but Gray typically functions as a blocker in those scenarios.
Sep 14, 2022
Records 10-yard catch
Gray snagged a 10-yard reception across two targets in Sunday's 44-21 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Starting tight end Travis Kelce had a huge outing in Week 1 (eight receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown on nine targets), but the Chiefs were still able to find playing time for depth options in Gray (36 snaps) and Fortson (22 snaps). Gray and Fortson are still likely to operate mostly as blockers when they're on the field, limiting the upside of both players so long as Kelce and the team's other key pass catchers are available.
May 6, 2022
Reprises backup role
Following the recent NFL Draft, Gray remains in the mix to back up Travis Kelce along with Blake Bell and Jody Fortson (Achilles), Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Of course as long as Kelce, who logged 159 targets last season, remains available, there's not going to be much volume for Kansas City's reserve tight ends. In 2021, Gray caught seven of his 10 targets for 36 yards and a TD in 16 games. Meanwhile, Bell logged 13 targets in 16 contests and Fortson five in six outings. In the event that Kelce misses time for any reason in 2022, it's unclear who would fill in as the team's starting TE, with a time-share approach in which Gray -- a 2021 fifth-rounder -- would likely be a factor.

Won't return Sunday
Gray (ankle) won't return to Sunday's contest against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Gray was forced to leave the AFC Championship Game in the first half due to an ankle issue. In his absence, Blake Bell and Jordan Franks will likely see increased snaps behind Travis Kelce.

Questionable to return Sunday
Gray is questionable to return Sunday against the Bengals due to an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Gray wasn't targeted in the passing game before he had to leave the AFC Championship Game due to the ankle issue. He's registered two targets in each of the Chiefs' previous two playoff games, so if he's unable to return, Blake Bell and Jordan Franks will likely have increased roles behind Travis Kelce.

Nabs seven passes in rookie season
Gray was not targeted in the regular-season finale against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Gray finished out his rookie season with the Chiefs having amassed seven catches for 36 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets. While it's nothing to write home about, the 2021 fifth-round pick did grade out pretty well as a blocker overall and stands a good chance of moving up a spot on the depth chart in 2022. Blake Bell's one-year deal expires following the season and Gray seems to have performed well enough to potentially move into the top backup role next year. That could entail some additional snaps and perhaps some added looks in the passing game, though Travis Kelce is still the clear No. 1 in the offense. The Chiefs may also elect to groom Gray as they heir to Kelce if they like what they've seen from him.

Playing time returns to normal
Gray caught his only target for six yards during Sunday's loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Gray has tallied a total of three receptions for 18 yards over the past two games after failing to record a reception in the three prior contests. That being said, Gray saw just 17 percent of the offensive snaps in the contest, his lowest since Week 9 against the Packers after he played a season-high 72 percent last week with Travis Kelce sidelined. As long as Kelce and Blake Bell are healthy, it's unlikely Gray will see a ton more playing time than what he's currently receiving.

Sees uptick in playing time
Gray compiled a pair of catches for 12 yards on two targets Sunday versus the Steelers. He played a season-high 50 snaps in the contest.
ANALYSIS
Gray saw the biggest boost in his playing time with Travis Kelce (COVID-19 protocols) sitting out and turned in his best effort of the season, albeit to the tune of just two catches for 12 yards. He only figures to be slightly interesting next week if Kelce remains out of commission against the Bengals.

Held without catch again
Gray was not targeted in Thursday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Gray has not received a target since Week 11 versus Dallas but has played 20-plus percent of the offensive snaps in each of the last five contests. That trend figures to continue next week and Gray could be looking at an expansion in his snap count if Travis Kelce -- who was placed on the COVID-19/reserve list Monday -- isn't cleared to play ahead of Sunday's clash with the Steelers.

Making good initial impression
Gray has performed well during offseason workouts and could see a significant amount of playing time both occasionally spelling Travis Kelce and playing in two tight end sets, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs selected Gray in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft with hopes of grooming him as a potential replacement for the 31-year-old Kelce down the road. It appears he's off to a good start in that regard and could be in line for a good amount of work as a rookie if he keeps it up. Gray finished out his 2020 season at Duke with 29 catches for 285 yards and a pair of touchdowns over 10 games.
