Washington could see additional opportunities Sunday against the Texans, as Brian Thomas (ankle) has been ruled out.

Part of Washington's involvement has presumably come due to the recent heavy workload of rookie Travis Hunter on defense, and No. 3 receiver Dyami Brown (shoulder) was also forced off the field early Sunday. Washington could again stare down a path to expanded opportunities Week 4 against the 49ers, which would put him on the fantasy radar as a sneaky flex option.

Washington secured all five of his targets for 76 yards during Jacksonville's 31-27 loss to Cincinnati on Sunday.

Washington wasn't targeted in Week 1, but he led the Jaguars in receiving yards in a Week 2 loss that saw Brian Thomas turn 12 targets into just four catches for 49 yards, with rookie Travis Hunter limited to just three grabs for 22 yards on six targets. It was No. 3 man Dyami Brown who scored the only one of Trever Lawrence's three touchdowns to go to a wide receiver. Washington's production came on just a 24 percent snap share on offense, but his workload could increase after such a strong showing.

Consistent targets could be difficult for the 2023 sixth-round pick to earn behind Brian Thomas and WR/CB Travis Hunter, and especially given that new No. 3 receiver Dyami Brown has also reportedly put together a strong camp, per John Shipley of SI.com. That makes it difficult to project much room for Washington's production to grow, even if he does take a step forward as a playmaker, but Washington could still climb onto the fantasy radar in deeper formats.

Trevor Lawrence also suffered a high-ankle sprain versus Cincinnati, and that injury looms large for the outlook of Jacksonville's offense moving forward.

The Jaguars activated Washington (knee) from injured reserve Saturday.

Washington hurt his knee against the Falcons in Week 4 and was placed on IR soon thereafter. That Week 4 contest has been his only game action of the season, and he logged just one offensive snap and one special-teams snap before getting hurt. Washington doesn't figure to see much action as a receiver upon his return, though he could be immediately featured as a kick and/or punt returner with Jamal Agnew (shoulder) landing on IR on Saturday.

Washington was designated to return from IR earlier Wednesday, so a slow start for his first practice was likely expected. However, he'll probably need to ramp up his activity Thursday and Friday if he'll earn a move back to the 53-man roster and suit up Sunday against the Titans.
