Expected to miss remainder of 2025
Rapp underwent surgery on his injured knee this week and is likely going to miss the remainder of the season, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was placed on injured reserve last Friday and appears to be looking at a lengthy absence. Cole Bishop and Jordan Poyer started at safety for Buffalo last week against the Panthers and appear to be in line to start again versus Kansas City.
Oct 24, 2025
Sent to injured reserve
Rapp (knee) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
ANALYSIS
Rapp will miss at least the Bills' next four contests after apparently aggravating his knee injury in the Week 6 loss to the Falcons ahead of the bye. Rapp dealt with a knee issue over the summer. Buffalo now has three safeties on injured reserve, leaving Cole Bishop, Sam Franklin and Jordan Hancock as the healthy options on the current 53-man roster.
Oct 24, 2025
Set for IR stint
Rapp (knee) won't play Sunday against the Panthers, and coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Rapp will be placed on injured reserve, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Once the Bills officially place Rapp on IR, he will be sidelined for a minimum of four games. His earliest chance to retake the field will come Nov. 20 against the Texans. The Bills are banged up at strong safety, with Damar Hamlin (pectoral) and Wande Owens (undisclosed) both already on IR.
Oct 22, 2025
Dealing with knee injury
Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters that Rapp (knee) won't practice Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Washington product is now dealing with an apparent knee injury following the Bills' Week 7 bye. McDermott noted that Rapp's injury is still being evaluated, but it's serious enough to hold him out of Wednesday's practice. He's played 342 defensive snaps over the Bills' first six games this season, recording 26 total tackles. Rapp likely needs to upgrade to at least limited practice participation Thursday or Friday to have a chance at playing in Sunday's matchup against the Panthers.
Aug 13, 2025
Works in team drills
Rapp (knee) participated in team drills during Wednesday's training camp practice, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was sidelined for the past week due to a knee injury. The additional rest has helped with his recovery enough to participate in team drills Wednesday, and the 2019 second-rounder is on track to be available for the Bills' upcoming preseason game against the Bears on Sunday. Rapp was a key piece in the Bills' secondary in 2024, finishing the regular season with 82 tackles (48 solo), six pass defenses (two interceptions) and one forced fumble in 14 games.
Aug 7, 2025
Out for a week
Rapp (knee) will be sidelined for about a week, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp missed practice last Sunday with a knee issue before returning to work this week, where head coach Sean McDermott said he aggravated the injury. The 27-year-old has an injury history, as he dealt with back, concussion, and neck problems during last season. It seems like the Bills are being cautious with Rapp, but they are now down both of their projected starting safeties heading into Saturday's preseason opener, with Cole Bishop out with a quad injury.
Aug 3, 2025
Working through knee injury
Rapp did not participate in Sunday's training camp practice due to a knee injury, Matt Parrino of The Syracuse Post-Standard reports.
ANALYSIS
The severity of Rapp's knee injury isn't known, but it's likely a precautionary measure for the veteran safety. He's locked in as one of the Bills' two starting safeties alongside Damar Hamlin, but Rapp's absence will open the door for Cole Bishop and Jordan Hancock to get reps with the first-team defense. The Bills' preseason opener against the Giants takes place Saturday, and Rapp is not guaranteed to play even if he were to be fully healthy.
Feb 4, 2025
Steady in starting role
Over 14 regular-season games in 2024, Rapp (hip) recorded 82 tackles (48 solo), two interceptions and a forced fumble.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was stuck on the depth chart behind former All-Pro Jordan Poyer and former Pro-Bowler Micah Hyde in 2023, but with their departures, Rapp was called on to be a regular starter in 2024. He played relatively well on a per-snap basis, but the time he missed due to injury kept him from making any huge waves in terms of raw stat totals. He's set to return with Buffalo in 2025, and whether he's a starter again next season could depend largely on whether the Bills offer a new contract to teammate Damar Hamlin during the offseason.
Jan 24, 2025
Ruled out to face Kansas City
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Rapp (hip/back) is ruled out for Sunday's road AFC Championship Game at Kansas City, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp's absence will be a notable blow for Buffalo's secondary, a development which will likely require Cole Bishop to step up as a starter at safety alongside Damar Hamlin. Elsewhere for the Bills' defense, Christian Benford remains in the concussion protocol and missed Friday's practice due to personal reasons. Taron Johnson (neck/shoulder) and Matt Milano (hamstring/elbow), meanwhile, upgraded to full practice sessions.
Jan 23, 2025
Doesn't practice Thursday
Rapp (hip) did not participate in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Rapp injured his hip during the Bills' divisional-round win against the Ravens, which has prevented him from participating in the first two practices of the week. A DNP on Friday wouldn't necessarily rule him out for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Chiefs, but participating in at least a limited capacity would indicate that he is progressing in his recovery. If Rapp is ultimately ruled out for Sunday's game, Cole Bishop would be the top candidate to start at safety next to Damar Hamlin.
Jan 22, 2025
Misses Wednesday's practice
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Wednesday that Rapp (hip) will not practice and remains day-to-day, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp is dealing with a hip injury that forced him to depart Sunday's divisional-round win over the Ravens after playing just 33 percent of defensive snaps. The starting safety will have two more opportunities to upgrade his involvement at practice ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game at Kansas City, but if Rapp can't get healthy in time to face the Chiefs, Cole Bishop will likely be called upon to start alongside Damar Hamlin.
Jan 20, 2025
Considered day-to-day
Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters Monday that Rapp is considered day-to-day with a hip injury, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran safety from Washington exited the Bills' divisional round win over the Ravens due to a hip injury, and McDermott's comments Monday suggest he's got a chance to return for Sunday's AFC Championship game in Kansas City. Rapp's practice participation throughout the week is likely to offer the best insight into whether he can return in time for Sunday's contest. If he's unable to go, expect Cole Bishop to start alongside Damar Hamlin in Buffalo's secondary.
Jan 19, 2025
Done for night
Rapp (hip) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's AFC divisional-round matchup with Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Rapp suffered a hip injury in the first half while making a tackle on Lamar Jackson and he will now be forced to sit out the remainder of the game. In his place, Cole Bishop will continue to operate as the team's primary strong safety versus the Ravens.
Jan 19, 2025
Questionable to return Sunday
Rapp (hip) is questionable to return to Sunday's AFC divisional-round matchup with the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Rapp picked up a hip injury in the second quarter against Baltimore, exiting the contest as a result. In his absence, Cole Bishop has taken over at strong safety versus the Ravens.
Jan 3, 2025
Past neck issue
Rapp (neck) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was limited throughout the Bills' week of practice after playing through his neck injury in the Week 17 win over the Jets, and it now appears he'll continue to play through the issue Sunday. Buffalo has already clinched the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs and is expected to rest its starters for most of the Week 18 contest; however, head coach Sean McDermott stated Rapp will still play "a bit" Sunday, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com.
Jan 1, 2025
Still dealing with neck injury
Rapp (neck) was a limited participant at the Bills' walk-through practice Wednesday, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was able to play through his neck issue during Sunday's game versus the Jets, so it's likely Buffalo is simply taking a cautious approach ahead of Week 18. If he's able to log a full practice Thursday or Friday, he would likely go into the weekend without an injury designation.
Dec 29, 2024
Set to return Sunday
Rapp (neck) is active for Sunday's Week 17 battle against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Rapp missed each of Buffalo's past two games due to a neck issue, but he'll be able to take the field against New York. His return comes at a good time for the Bills, as fellow safety Damar Hamlin (ribs) is inactive Sunday. Cole Bishop will likely start alongside Rapp in the Week 17 matchup.
Dec 27, 2024
Questionable versus New York
Rapp (neck) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Rapp has missed the Bills' past two contests due to neck and shoulder injuries, but he did get in a round of limited sessions this week, putting Rapp on track for a potential Week 17 return. Kareem Jackson and Cole Bishop would be in line for extra reps once again if Rapp is unable to play.
Dec 22, 2024
Officially out
Rapp (neck) is listed as inactive for Sunday's matchup with the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Rapp's absence will be his second in a row due to neck and shoulder issues. With Damar Hamlin (ribs) also out, Kareem Jackson and Cole Bishop will be the only healthy safeties on the roster.
Dec 20, 2024
Limited Friday, questionable vs. NE
Rapp (neck/shoulder) will be limited in Friday's practice and is questionable for this weekend's outing against New England, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp missed his second game of the season in Buffalo's win this past weekend against Detroit, and he's now at risk of missing back-to-back matchups. The veteran is joined by safety Damar Hamlin on the questionable list, which could prime Kareem Jackson and Cole Bishop for more playing time like last week.
Dec 15, 2024
Inactive Sunday
Rapp (neck/shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
The starting safety played last week with the same injuries but missed practice Wednesday. Rapp has played on more than 80 percent of the defensive snaps in 11 of the 12 games he's appeared in this season. With Rapp and Damar Hamlin (back) both out, Kareem Jackson and Cole Bishop are the next men up at safety for the Bills.
Dec 13, 2024
Questionable versus Detroit
Rapp (neck/shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Rapp wasn't given an injury designation ahead of last Sunday's loss to the Rams due to the same injuries, and he went on to play all 77 defensive snaps. It's unclear if he suffered some sort of setback, but Rapp was unable to practice earlier in the week. Fellow starting safety Damar Hamlin (back) is also questionable for Sunday after he was downgraded to DNP on Thursday with a new injury. Already without starting CB Rasul Douglas (knee), Buffalo's secondary could be severely shorthanded against Detroit's high-octane offense.
Dec 11, 2024
Non-participant Wednesday
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Wednesday that Rapp (neck) will not practice, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp played 100 percent of defensive snaps during Buffalo's loss to the Rams in Week 14, in which he tallied a season-high 13 tackles (eight solo), but he appears to have picked up a neck injury in the process. The Bills are only hosting a walkthrough practice Wednesday, so Rapp's participation level, or lack thereof, Thursday will be more telling as to his chances of suiting up Sunday against Detroit.
Dec 10, 2024
Makes 13 tackles in loss
Rapp finished with 13 tackles (eight solo) in Sunday's 44-42 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Rapp also played on all 72 defensive snaps. The safety has played on every defensive snap in seven of the 12 games he's played in this season. Rapp has 75 tackles (42 solo), six passes defensed, including two interceptions, and a forced fumble in 2024.
Dec 6, 2024
Ready for Sunday
Rapp (neck/shoulder) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
The veteran safety appeared to be in jeopardy of missing Buffalo's Week 13 contest after logging a week of limited practice sessions due to shoulder and neck injuries. However, Friday's injury report suggests he'll play through the issues Sunday. Expect Rapp to start alongside Damar Hamlin as part of the Bills' top safety duo.
Dec 5, 2024
Limited in Thursday's practice
Rapp (neck/shoulder) was listed as a limited practice participant on Thursday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Rapp is working through neck and shoulder injuries, which he presumably picked up during the Bills' win over the 49ers this past Sunday. He'll have to log a full practice Friday in order to avoid an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Rams. Rapp has logged 62 tackles (34 solo), six pass defenses (including two interceptions) and one forced fumble across 11 regular-season games.
Dec 4, 2024
Picks up injuries
Rapp (neck/shoulder) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice estimation.
ANALYSIS
Rapp appears to have sustained neck and shoulder injuries in Buffalo's blowout win over the 49ers on Sunday night, despite playing 100 percent of the team's defensive snaps and recording six total tackles and one forced fumble. If he's unable to suit up for the Bills' Week 14 matchup against the Rams, rookie Cole Bishop would see increased work with the first-team secondary.
Dec 3, 2024
Forces crucial fumble in rout of SF
Rapp recorded six tackles (four solo) and forced a fumble in a 35-10 Week 13 win over San Francisco on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Rapp tied for second on the Bills with his six stops. He also made a big play with Buffalo leading 21-3 early in the third quarter, punching the ball away from Kyle Juszczyk at the Bills' one-yard line to demoralize the Niners after they appeared to be headed for a score. Rapp has finished with at least six stops in six of his past seven games and has a shot at recording triple-digit tackles for the second time in his career with 62 through 11 contests.
Nov 18, 2024
Picks off pass in win
Rapp recorded six tackles (three solo) and an interception in Sunday's 30-21 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
The safety also played on every defensive snap for the fifth time in the 10 games he's played in this season. Rapp has 56 tackles (31 solo), six pass breakups and two interceptions in 2024.
Nov 11, 2024
Picks off Flacco in Week 10
Rapp registered seven tackles (five solo) and one interception during Sunday's 30-20 win over Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Rapp logged his first interception of the 2024 regular season Sunday. He picked off a deep pass from Joe Flacco intended for Alec Pierce early in the fourth quarter, which led to a two-yard rushing touchdown by James Cook 13 plays later. Through nine regular-season games, Rapp has accumulated 50 tackles (28 solo) and five pass defenses (including one interception).
Nov 4, 2024
Tallies 10 stops vs. Dolphins
Rapp recorded 10 total tackles (six solo), including one tackle for loss, in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Rapp has played 100.0 percent of the Bills' defensive snaps in three of their last four games, recording 30 total tackles and three passes defending during that span. The Washington product ranks fourth on Buffalo's defense with 43 total tackles through eight appearances this season. Expect Rapp to continue starting alongside Damar Hamlin as the Bills' top safeties when the team travels to Indianapolis in Week 10.
Oct 15, 2024
Plays every snap versus Jets
Rapp recorded eight tackles (five solo) in Monday night's win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Rapp played all 63 defensive snaps, logging 100 percent of the snap share for the first time since Week 1. It was Rapp's first game back after suffering a Week 4 concussion. In addition to the eight tackles, Rapp racked up a season-best three pass breakups in the secondary. Rapp and Damar Hamlin have formed Buffalo's new tandem at safety this year.
Oct 9, 2024
Gains clearance
Head coach Sean McDermott stated Wednesday that Rapp has cleared concussion protocols, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp missed Week 5's loss to the Jaguars, but he should be all set for Monday's matchup with the Jets barring any setbacks.
Oct 7, 2024
Remains in concussion protocol
Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters Monday that Rapp is still in concussion protocol, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp missed the Bills' Week 5 loss to the Texans after sustaining a concussion the week prior, and it appears he hasn't moved past the issue just yet. The veteran safety could practice in some capacity this week, but he must clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in order to suit up for Buffalo's Week 6 matchup against the Jets on Monday night.
Oct 4, 2024
Won't play Week 5
Coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Rapp (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp will miss at least one contest as he works his way through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. The starting safety didn't practice in any capacity Wednesday and Thursday. Cole Bishop will figure to take over as a starter alongside Damar Hamlin with Rapp out of commission versus Houston.
Oct 2, 2024
Loggs DNP
Rapp (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Rapp suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Ravens and will now have to make his way through the league's five-step protocols to gain clearance to return to the field. He'll likely need to get on the field in some capacity by Friday to have a chance to play in Week 5 against the Texans.
Sep 29, 2024
Downgraded to out
Rapp (concussion) has been downgraded to out for the rest of Sunday night's game against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
The safety left the field after making a hit on Baltimore running back Derrick Henry during the first half. Rapp made two tackles (one solo) before exiting. Cole Bishop is his backup.
Sep 29, 2024
Might have head injury
Rapp is being evaluated for a head injury during Sunday's game against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
The safety left the field after making a hit on Baltimore running back Derrick Henry. Rapp made two tackles (one solo) before exiting. Cole Bishop is his backup.
Aug 5, 2024
Bright star in training camp
Rapp continues to work with the first-team defense during training camp and continues to make big plays while being looked to for leadership by coach Sean McDermott, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With longtime stars Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde no longer in the fold, Rapp already stood a good chance of serving in a starting role entering camp. However, between his own strong play and injuries to Mike Edwards (hamstring) and Cole Bishop (shoulder), Rapp is now pretty much guaranteed to start for Week 1. Rapp put up 94 tackles and four interceptions in a starting role for the Rams in 2021, so he's worthy of the IDP radar in Buffalo now that the starting role looks to be his.
Mar 6, 2024
Back in Buffalo on three-year deal
The Bills re-signed Rapp (calf) to a three-year contract Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The deal is worth up to $14.5 million, per Schefter. With the Bills releasing Jordan Poyer earlier in the day Wednesday and Micah Hyde scheduled for free agency, keeping Rapp was apparently a priority for GM Brandon Beane. Rapp played on a one-year deal with the Bills last season, appearing in 16 games (four starts) and registering 50 tackles (33 solo), one interception, one fumble recovery and 0.5 sacks. He's likely going to be relied upon as a starter in 2024.
Jan 19, 2024
Won't play vs. Chiefs
Rapp (calf) is out for Sunday's game versus the Chiefs, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp will miss his second straight game in the divisional round due to a lingering calf injury. In his absence, 2021 sixth-rounder Damar Hamlin will probably continue to see an uptick in defensive snaps.
Jan 18, 2024
Remains sidelined at practice
Rapp (calf) did not participate at the Bills' practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was unable to go in Monday's wild-card win over the Steelers and he's now missed Buffalo's first two practice sessions of the week. The safety will likely have to practice in some capacity Friday in order to play in Sunday's matchup with the Chiefs in the divisional round.
Jan 17, 2024
Unable to practice Wednesday
Rapp (calf) won't practice Wednesday, Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp sat out the 31-17 win over the Steelers in the wild-card round Monday, and Wednesday's absence doesn't bode well for his potential availability against the Chiefs in the divisional round. A return to practice Thursday or Friday would change that narrative ahead of Sunday's home game.
Jan 12, 2024
Won't play Sunday
Rapp (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's wild-card playoff game against the Steelers, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp, who was listed as a non-participant in practice both Wednesday and Thursday, will thus target a potential return to action next weekend, should the Bills advance Sunday. Rapp's absence represents a hit Buffalo's secondary depth this weekend, with the safety coming off a 2023 campaign in which he recorded 50 tackles and an interception in 16 games.
Jan 10, 2024
Tending to calf injury
Rapp (calf) did not participate at Buffalo's walkthrough practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
It's not immediately clear when Rapp picked up the calf issue, but his availability for the wild-card round is now in question. If he can't get back to practice Thursday or Friday, he'll likely have to sit out Sunday.
Jan 2, 2024
Logs one tackle in Week 17
Rapp logged one tackle on seven defensive snaps in Sunday's Week 17 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
With Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde healthy and playing every defensive snap, Rapp took a back seat after starting the previous two games. He's quality depth for the Buffalo defense and has 49 tackles (33 solo), one fumble recovery and 0.5 sacks on the year.
Dec 25, 2023
Leads defensive charge in tight win
Rapp posted nine total tackles in Saturday's 24-22 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Rapp has been put on the spot with starter Micah Hyde out with a neck injury, as he's played 100 percent if the defensive snaps in each of the past two weeks while recording his two highest tackle totals of the season in that span, with Saturday's nine being his highest single-game mark. Rapp is still looking for his first interception of the season -- he's previously never had a pro season without one -- but he's been around the ball with regularity in Hyde's absence and makes for a good IDP play if his teammate has to miss any more action.
Dec 19, 2023
Eight tackles in win
Rapp recorded eight tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 31-10 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was unable to play in Week 14 due to a neck injury, but he made sure to take advantage of his return Sunday, compiling a season-high eight takedowns. The safety stepped into a more significant role with Micah Hyde (neck) unavailable and would likely operate in a similar capacity if Hyde can't go in Week 16 versus the Chargers.
Dec 6, 2023
Gets back on field
Rapp (neck) logged a full practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Rapp has come out of the Bills' bye week healthy after missing the team's Week 12 loss to the Eagles. Ultimately, it's a quick recovery, considering the 25-year-old left Buffalo's Week 11 win over the Jets in an ambulance. His return should be a boost to depth of the Bills' secondary when they play the Chiefs on Sunday.
Nov 24, 2023
Unavailable vs. Eagles
Coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Rapp (neck) is ruled out for Sunday's game against Philadelphia, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp's absence will be significant for Buffalo's already-shorthanded secondary, especially with Dane Jackson (concussion) also ruled out for Week 12. With Rapp out, Damar Hamlin could get a chance to handle depth work on defense for the second time this season. Rapp's next chance to play will come Week 14 vs. the Chiefs, after a much-needed bye.
Nov 23, 2023
Listed as limited
Rapp (neck) was considered a limited participant for Thursday's walkthrough practice, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp left the field via an ambulance during Sunday's win over the Jets, so his ability to get back on the field is good news for his recovery. However, he should still be considered questionable for a Week 12 matchup with the Eagles, but he could potentially shed that tag if he can log a full practice Friday.
Nov 20, 2023
Tests on neck come back clean
Rapp's tests on his injured neck all came back negative Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp had to be loaded onto a stretcher and taken off the field via ambulance in Sunday's win over the Jets, but, all things considered, it sounds like he's going to be okay. The Buffalo defense continues to be ravaged by injuries in 2023.
Nov 19, 2023
Resting at home
Coach Sean McDermott said after Sunday's win over the Jets that he believes Rapp (neck) is resting at home, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was taken off the field in an ambulance following a hard collision Sunday, but he at least initially remained in the locker room rather than being taken to the hospital. While it's unclear whether he was ever taken to the hospital, it's encouraging that he's now resting at home. Whether he'll be available for next Sunday's game against the Eagles remains to be seen.
Nov 19, 2023
Exits in ambulance
Rapp (neck) was taken off the field in an ambulance and has been ruled out for the remainder of the game.
ANALYSIS
Rapp sustained a neck injury after a hard collision with Jets running back Breece Hall. The Bills nickel back remained down on the field and was tended to for some time by the team's training staff. He was then loaded into an ambulance that took him off the field, and he was seen moving his hands while being loaded into the vehicle, according to Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News. Rapp was also remained in Buffalo's locker room for further examination rather than being taken to the hospital, per Fitzgerald.
Nov 12, 2023
Set to start Week 10
Rapp is expected to take over the starting role at strong safety with Micah Hyde (neck) ruled out for Monday's game against the Broncos, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp has mostly contributed in a depth safety role and on special teams this season. With Hyde out, Rapp will fill in at strong safety opposite Jordan Poyer. Rapp got the start in Week 4 against the Dolphins when Poyer was ruled out with a knee injury, and the former played every single defensive snap and recorded six tackles (five solo).
Sep 29, 2023
Next man up at safety
Rapp will likely start in Sunday's game versus Miami, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jordan Poyer (knee) has been ruled out of Sunday's game versus the Dolphins, making room for Rapp to step in as a starter for the first time as a Bill. He'll have his work cut out for him lined up across from Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle in Week 4.
Mar 27, 2023
Catches on with Bills
The Bills signed Rapp to a one-year contract Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp is now in line to suit up for Buffalo in 2023 following Monday's agreement. The 25-year-old has served as the Rams' starting safety since he was drafted as a second-round selection by Los Angeles in 2019, and he registered 92 tackles, six passes defensed and two interceptions across 16 contests suited up for last season. Although the Bills already have two prominent safety options in Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde, Rapp is still more than likely to command at least a rotational role within the team's secondary.
Jan 11, 2023
Similar stat line in 2022
Rapp recorded 92 tackles (58 solo), six pass defenses, two interceptions and recorded a fumble over 16 games in 2022.
ANALYSIS
Rapp's final year of his rookie deal saw him put together a nearly identical season to two of his previous three, discounting his 2020 season where he only played in nine games. In his other three campaigns, he's combined for 286 tackles, 20 pass defenses, and 10 interceptions. A return to the Rams for the unrestricted free agent would mean fighting for playing time against Jordan Fuller (hamstring), who started the season as a co-starter at strong safety until injuries kept him off the field for all but four games.
Jan 2, 2023
Ties for team lead in tackles
Rapp recorded nine tackles (eight solo) during Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
It was an overall quiet night for a Rams defense that was a week removed from dismantling the Broncos, but Rapp continued to stuff the stat sheet, bringing his total tackles on the year up to 87 with one game left to go. A lost season for the Rams comes to a close against the Seahawks in Week 18, and while Rapp only managed four tackles against them in Week 13, he did tack on a fumble recovery and two pass defenses.
Dec 20, 2022
Picks in back-to-back weeks
Rapp recorded seven tackles (six solo), an interception and one pass defended during Monday's 24-12 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Rapp's first-quarter interception of Aaron Rodgers was the safety's second pick in as many weeks, as Rodgers sailed a pass over the head of Allen Lazard and Rapp capitalized with the easy pick. Denver's anemic offense is next up in Week 16, even with Russell Wilson (concussion) likely to return at quarterback over Brett Rypien, Rapp should be in line for another strong performance.
Dec 9, 2022
Snags first pick of season
Rapp recorded three tackles (one solo) and one interception during Thursday's 17-16 win against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
After Baker Mayfield's improbable 98-yard touchdown drive to pull the Rams up by a point with just seconds remaining, Derek Carr attempted to start a game-winning drive of his own by dialing up Davante Adams on his first pass attempt. Rapp was ready, however, and stepped in front of Adams to bring down Carr's desperation heave and give the Rams their first win since defeating the Panthers all the way back in Week 6. Rapp will look to add to his interception totals against the Packers and Aaron Rodgers in Week 15, who already has thrown nine picks so far in 2022 after throwing just nine combined in 2020 and 2021.
Nov 28, 2022
Logs season-high in tackles
Rapp recorded 12 tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Rapp didn't miss a snap on defense, and he stuffed the stat box with a team-high 12 tackles. The Rams as a defense bent, but didn't break against the mighty Chiefs offense, who had to settle for just a pair of touchdowns and four field goals. Rapp's previous season-high for tackles was eight in Week 9, and he'll look to follow up on his solid statistical production against Seattle in a Week 12 showdown with another high-octane offense.

Back in full Thursday
Rapp (ribs) was listed as a full participant on the Rams' injury report Thursday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was limited with a rib injury during practice last week before being ruled out ahead of Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. The safety returned to practice in a limited fashion again Wednesday, but he now appears ready to suit up for Week 6 against the Panthers. Rapp recorded 16 tackles over the first four games of the season, and his availability this Sunday should be a big boost for the Rams' banged-up secondary.
Oct 13, 2022
Limited again Wednesday
Rapp (ribs) was listed as a limited participant on the Ram's injury report Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Rapp popped up with a rib issue on last Wednesday's injury report and was sidelined during Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. As a result, backup Terrell Burgess played 100 percent of the Rams' defensive snaps, as fellow starting safety Jordan Fuller was out on IR in Week 5. Rapp recorded 16 tackles, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble over the first four games of the season, and he'll have two more practices to improve his injury status before this Sunday's game against Carolina.
Oct 9, 2022
Sitting out Week 5
Rapp (ribs) was ruled inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was limited during practice Wednesday and Thursday after sustaining a rib injury during Monday's loss to the 49ers, which will ultimately leave him sidelined against Dallas. With fellow starting safety Jordan Fuller (hamstring) set to miss at least the next four weeks on IR, expect Terrell Burgess and Russ Yeast to take on larger roles in the Rams' banged-up secondary.
Oct 7, 2022
Deemed questionable for Sunday
Rams head coach Sean McVay said Rapp (ribs) is questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Cowboys, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday after suffering a rib injury during Monday's loss to the 49ers. Per Rodrigue, McVay said Wednesday that the issue shouldn't impact Rapp's status for Week 5, but it appears that may not be the case. Fellow defensive back Jordan Fuller (hamstring) is set to miss a few weeks, so the Rams secondary could be without two of their top safeties for Sunday's matchup against Dallas.
Oct 5, 2022
Dealing with injury
Rapp (ribs) was a limited participant during the Rams' practice Wednesday, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp is dealing with a rib injury following Monday's loss to the 49ers, though it's unclear when this injury first arose. The strong safety recorded 13 tackles while playing almost every down over the first three weeks of the season, but he was limited to just 51 percent of Los Angeles' defensive snaps in Week 4. However, Rams coach Sean McVay said Wednesday that this injury should not affect Rapp's availability for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic. The 24-year-old could take on an even more prominent role with fellow strong safety Jordan Fuller set to miss multiple weeks with a hamstring injury.
Sep 20, 2022
Logs three tackles
Rapp recorded three tackles (two solo) during Sunday's 31-27 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Rapp may not have stuffed the stat box with his line on Sunday, but for the second straight week, he played significantly more defensive snaps than Jordan Fuller (50 to 36) and nearly the same amount as Nick Scott (53), showing how much the Rams trust the fourth-year safety. Despite the quiet first two weeks of the season for Rapp, the sheer volume of opportunities on the field should yield dividends in the long term.
Feb 13, 2022
Available for Super Bowl
Rapp (concussion) is active for Sunday's Super Bowl matchup with the Bengals, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp will be active for the first time since sustaining the concussion Week 18 against the 49ers. Eric Weddle has done a fantastic job filling in for him during the playoffs and is going to be the defensive play caller for the Rams on Sunday, so Rapp could garner a lesser role than he had during the regular season.
Feb 4, 2022
Full participant Friday
Rapp (concussion) was a full participant during Friday's practice and doesn't carry an injury designation heading into Super Bowl week, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp, who has missed the entirety of the playoffs while out with a concussion, appears to be on track to play in the Super Bowl. It's unclear how the free safety will figure into the defense, as veteran Eric Weddle has done an excellent job as a fill in over the Rams' three previous playoff wins.
Feb 3, 2022
Limited in walkthrough
Rapp (concussion) was estimated as a limited participant in Thursday's walkthrough practice, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp has missed the entirety of the playoffs while out with a concussion but appears to be on track to play in the Super Bowl after receiving a limited participation estimate in back-to-back days. The free safety will have at least one more week to clear concussion protocol, otherwise, veteran Eric Weddle will likely fill in for the fourth-straight game.
Feb 1, 2022
May be available for Super Bowl
Coach Sean McVay said Monday that Rapp (concussion) "turning the corner in a positive way," Stu Jackson of the Rams' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Rap has missed the Rams' first three playoff games with a concussion, but he was able to return to practice in a limited capacity ahead of the NFC Championship Game. He'll have two weeks to get back to full participation, but he appears to be trending in the right direction.
Jan 30, 2022
Inactive against 49ers
Rapp (concussion) is inactive for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the 49ers, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp returned to the practice field in a limited capacity for each of the Rams' three practice sessions this week, but he'll be forced to miss a third consecutive game after sustaining a concussion in Week 18. Eric Weddle and Terrell Burgess should continue to see additional work Sunday.
Jan 28, 2022
Enters weekend as questionable
Rapp (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Rapp has missed back-to-back games since sustaining a concussion Week 18 versus San Francisco, but he was able to get back on the practice field this week as a limited participant Wednesday through Friday. While his inability to log a full session at any point may mean he still has multiple phases to complete before gaining clearance from the protocol for head injuries, the final word will come from an independent neurologist. Rapp's status will be clarified, one way or another, approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
Jan 27, 2022
Another limited practice
Rapp (concussion) logged a limited practice Thursday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp has been working through concussion protocol across the last two weeks and has missed both of the Rams' postseason victories as a result. Head coach Sean McVay told reporters that Rapp would likely be able to return for the NFC Championship game against the 49ers, though he'll need to fully clear protocols in order to do so.
Jan 27, 2022
Estimated as limited participant
Rapp (concussion) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp remains day-to-day and is still in the concussion protocol, per Rodrigue, which he'll need to clear to have a chance of suiting up Sunday versus the 49ers. The 24-year-old appears to have made some progress in the protocols, but his availability for this weekend remains up in the air for the time being.
Jan 24, 2022
On track for return
Rapp (concussion) is on track to play Sunday against the 49ers according to head coach Sean McVay, Greg Beacham of The Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp suffered the concussion Week 18 against San Francisco and has missed both of the Rams' playoff wins. His return would be a boost to the Rams secondary when they host the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.
Jan 21, 2022
Ruled out
Rapp (concussion) will not play Sunday against the Buccaneers, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp missed the wild-card win over Arizona, as did fellow starting safety Jordan Fuller, who is out for the season with an ankle injury. Nick Scott has proven himself a capable replacement at one safety spot, while Terrell Burgess and Eric Weddle split time at the other spot last week. Bucs QB Tom Brady surely will want to test the Rams' safeties, but he might have trouble getting the ball downfield given Tampa's injury issues at wide receiver, and now along the offensive line. Rapp hasn't practiced since suffering a concussion toward the end of the Rams' Week 18 contest.
Jan 20, 2022
Still absent Thursday
Rapp (concussion) did not practice Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio practice.
ANALYSIS
Rapp remained unavailable for Thursday's practice while still in concussion protocol. The safety's chances to play Sunday rely on his ability to clear the protocols and if he can't go, Terrell Burgess and Eric Weddle could once again split snaps in the Rams' secondary against the Buccaneers.
Jan 20, 2022
No practice Wednesday
Rapp (concussion) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp missed Monday's win over the Cardinals and remains in the concussion protocol, per Brady Henderson of ESPN. The 24-year-old will need to fully clear the protocol to have a chance of suiting up Sunday in Tampa Bay, otherwise Terrell Burgess is likely to receive another start.
Jan 15, 2022
Out Monday
Rapp (concussion) will not play in Monday's wild-card matchup with the Cardinals, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Rapp out, the Rams will be down both starting safetys, as Jordan Fuller (ankle) was placed on injured reserve earlier this week. Thus, Nick Scott, Terrell Burgess, Antoine Brooks, Jake Gervase and the recently unretired Eric Weddle will be the available options at safety.
Jan 13, 2022
DNP Thursday
Rapp (concussion) was estimated as a non-participant at Thursday's walkthrough, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The safety was placed in concussion protocol Monday and was unavailable for the Rams' first walkthrough of the week Thursday. With Rapp potentially on the shelf for the team's wild-card matchup with the Cardinals, the Rams signed Eric Weddle to their practice squad Wednesday.
Jan 10, 2022
In concussion protocol
Rapp was placed in concussion protocol Monday, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp suffered the injury in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the 49ers, though it's unclear exactly when it occurred. His focus will now be on clearing concussion protocol in time for the team's playoff matchup Monday against the Cardinals. Rapp's ability to suit up will be a key to the secondary, as he recorded 94 tackles and four interceptions across 17 games during the regular season.
Jan 2, 2022
Active for Week 17
Rapp (shoulder) is active for Sunday's contest against the Ravens, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Rapp will be available after logging a full practice Friday. He's been a key part of the Rams' defense all season, logging 80 tackles and three interceptions across 15 games.
Dec 31, 2021
Officially questionable
Rapp (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp returned to a full practice Friday, putting him in line to play in Week 17 as expected. He's been a key part of the Rams' defense all season, logging 80 total tackles with three interceptions across 15 games.
Dec 30, 2021
No practice, expected to play
Rapp (shoulder) did not participate in practice Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp has not logged a practice of any capacity this week, but he is still expected to play Sunday against the Ravens, per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic. Rapp has been a key part of the Rams' defense this season, playing in over 80 percent of snaps in all but one game. He's racked up 80 total tackles as well as three interceptions and 1.5 sacks across 15 contests.
Nov 16, 2021
Busy against 49ers
Rapp recorded 10 tackles (seven solo) and a sack during Monday's 31-10 loss to San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
There's been some weekly peaks and valleys for Rapp this season, but he's playing nearly every defensive snap and providing a decent floor for deeper IDP settings. Just note, the Rams are on a bye this week, and he might not be worth stashing on benches until Los Angeles' Week 12 matchup with the Packers.
Oct 19, 2021
Pair of picks
Rapp recorded five tackles, two interceptions and three passes defended in Sunday's 38-11 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Rapp recorded his first interceptions of the season, picking off Daniel Jones once in the second quarter and once in the third quarter. He has also racked up 41 tackles through six games, good for second on the team.
Oct 6, 2021
Clear of injury designation
Rapp (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was limited on Monday's and Tuesday's injury reports, but he was able to practice with no limitations Wednesday. The 23-year-old is enjoying a productive season so far for the Rams with 35 tackles (23 solo) and a half-sack through four games.
Oct 5, 2021
Limited again Tuesday
Rapp (ankle) was a limited participant at Tuesday's walkthrough, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp apparently picked up the injury during Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, and he's been listed as a limited participant the first two days of the week. The 23-year-old has played nearly every defensive snap for the Rams this season and appears on track to play Thursday in Seattle.
Sep 21, 2021
Keeps churning out tackles
Rapp posted nine tackles and a half sack in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Rapp has played all but one defensive snap through two games, and he leads the team with 19 tackles. The 2019 second-round pick posted 100 stops as a rookie but took a step back in 2020 due to injuries. It looks like he's back on track for triple digits in 2021.
Sep 14, 2021
Tallies 10 tackles
Rapp posted 10 tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 34-14 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
After competing with Jordan Fuller for the starting role last year, Rapp and Fuller both started in Week 1 and combined for 21 tackles. Rapp registered 100 tackles, eight pass breakups and two interceptions over 15 games as a rookie starter in 2019.
Jul 9, 2021
Full-go at minicamp
Rapp (knee) was a full participant in June's mandatory minicamp, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp generated 100 tackles as a rookie in 2019, but he was demoted in Week 1 of the 2020 season after rookie sixth-round pick Jordan Fuller won the starting job out of training camp. Rapp eventually regained his starting job and finished with 44 tackles through nine games before a knee injury ended his season in Week 10. With John Johnson signing in Cleveland, Rapp is the favorite for the starting strong safety job in 2021.
Feb 11, 2021
Solid before injury
Rapp (knee) had 44 tackles (32 solo), three pass breakups, one interception and one forced fumble across nine games in 2020.
ANALYSIS
Rapp missed the Rams' final seven regular-season games due to a knee injury, and he was also unable to return for either of the team's postseason tilts, but it seems like should be on track for the tentative start of offseason workouts. With John Johnson bound for free agency and perhaps out of Los Angeles' price range, Rapp could be asked to hand an expanded role at safety in 2021.
Dec 7, 2020
Expected to miss another game
Rapp (knee) likely won't be activated from injured reserve for Thursday's game against the Patriots, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
This would be Rapp's first opportunity to return to action. Given he didn't practice Monday, he'll likely miss another week and eye a return in Week 15 against the Jets. Jordan Fuller will continue to start at strong safety in Thursday's game.
Nov 16, 2020
Destined for injured reserve
Coach Sean McVay said that Rapp (knee) has a grade two ligament sprain and will go on IR, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was forced to exit Sunday's win against the Seahawks, and it seems probable he will be on the shelf for at least a month. The Rams are hoping that the second-year safety can return to the field in short order, though Rodrigue reports his absence will likely extend four weeks or more. Four of Rapp's five starts on the season have come since Week 4, with 44 tackles, one forced fumble and one interception being tallied to his name overall. Given his absence, Jordan Fuller will be thrust into a starting role at the strong safety position.
Nov 15, 2020
MCL sprain likely
Rapp (knee) is believed to have suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday's win over Seattle, and he will get an MRI to confirm that diagnosis, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Recovery times for MCL sprains vary, but Rapp will likely be facing a multi-week absence if the MRI confirms the injury. The safety is a key cog on defense for Los Angles, as Rapp had played 100 percent of the team's defensive snaps in three consecutive games prior to Sunday's injury.
Nov 15, 2020
Done for the day
Rapp (knee) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Eric D. Williams of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp was initially listed as doubtful after sustaining his knee injury, so to see him officially ruled out to return Sunday doesn't come as much of a surprise. Jordan Fuller will lock down the Rams' strong safety position as long a Rapp remains sidelined.
Nov 15, 2020
Likely won't return Sunday
Rapp was forced out of Sunday's game against the Seahawks with a knee injury, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp isn't expected to return to Sunday's game. The second-year safety dealt with a knee injury during training camp as well, and it's possible that this is related. Jordan Fuller will handle the strong safety position for the remainder of the contest.
Oct 19, 2020
Secures nine tackles
Rapp finished with nine tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 24-16 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Rapp bounced back after registering just two tackles in Week 5. He's recorded 33 total tackles through the first six games of the 2020 campaign and will take the field in Week 7 against Chicago.
Oct 6, 2020
Leads team in tackles
Rapp posted eight tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 17-9 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Rapp played every defensive snap because Jordan Fuller (shoulder) remained out of the lineup, and he ended up leading the team in tackles for a second straight week. A knee injury has been deemed one of the major causes for Rapp's demotion to a reserve role in favor of Fuller, but perhaps the 2019 second-round pick's recent performance will allow him to retake the starting gig.
Sep 28, 2020
Takes advantage of playing time
Rapp recorded seven tackles (six solo) during Sunday's 35-32 loss to Buffalo. He played 55 of 62 defensive snaps.
ANALYSIS
Starting safety Jordan Fuller (shoulder) was injured in the second quarter and didn't return during Sunday's contest, so Rapp saw an uptick in playing time and turned in a solid fantasy showing. Rapp was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, started 10 games and racked up 100 tackles for the Rams last year. However, a preseason knee injury allowed Fuller to usurp Rapp's starting job. Their fortunes may be reversed now. If Fuller misses time, Rapp should return to being a respectable fantasy option in most IDP settings.
Sep 14, 2020
Potential demotion
Rapp played behind rookie sixth-round pick Jordan Fuller against Dallas on Sunday, finishing with just three tackles to Fuller's team-leading eight.
ANALYSIS
Jourdan Rodrigue of the Athletic reported that coach Sean McVay said Rapp, a presumed starter going into 2020, was not injured. McVay also said "Rapp continues to be a huge part of" the Rams defense, but it's hard to see how Rapp plays much if Fuller is logging starter-level snaps. Rapp posted 100 tackles on 834 snaps as a rookie second-round pick last year, so if he was demoted in favor of Fuller then it's a rather shocking turn.
Sep 1, 2020
Back at practice
Rapp (knee) returned to practice Tuesday, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp missed roughly two weeks of practice while dealing with a knee issue, but his participation Tuesday is enough to dispel any worries about his Week 1 availability. The 22-year-old safety is locked in as a starter, and he should offer weekly IDP relevance.
Aug 29, 2020
Expected to practice Monday
Coach Sean McVay expects Rapp (knee) to practice Monday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp warmed up with his teammates in full gear Saturday, and he's expected to be a full participant come Monday's practice.
Aug 27, 2020
Expected back for opener
Coach Sean McVay said Thursday that he expects Rapp (knee) to be available Week 1 versus Dallas, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp had a "dynamic" day of work with athletic trainers according to Rodrigue, so it looks as though his recovery is proceeding on track. The starting free safety is coming off an excellent rookie season, in which he notched 100 tackles (62 solo), eight defended passes and two interceptions across 15 contests.
Aug 23, 2020
Hopeful for Week 1
Coach Sean McVay said Sunday that he's hopeful Rapp (knee) will be available for Sept. 13's season-opener against the Cowboys, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McVay also said he's hopeful to have Rapp back at practice within a week. The starting safety has remained off the field since suffering a knee injury during Tuesday's practice. When healthy, Rapp should return consisted fantasy value in IDP formats.
Aug 20, 2020
Out until next week
Rapp (knee) will likely be out until at least next week, Eric D. Williams of SI Rams Digest reports.
ANALYSIS
The injury has been dubbed minor, but fantasy owners would feel more comfortable if the sophomore was on the field preparing for the beginning of the season. Rapp posted solid numbers down the stretch last year with 68 tackles (45 solo), two interceptions, six passes defensed and a fumble recovery through the final nine games of the campaign and should be a reliable asset in most IDP settings again in 2020.
Aug 18, 2020
Sits out with minor issue
Head coach Sean McVay said Rapp didn't practice Tuesday due to a minor knee injury, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp enjoyed an excellent rookie season with 100 tackles, eight pass breakups and two interceptions over 15 games, so it's good news that this is just a minor issue. The 22-year-old safety will seek a quick return to training camp to start preparing for the 2020 campaign.
Oct 11, 2019
Full go Friday
Rapp (ankle) was a full participant at Friday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Rapp looks on track to play Sunday against the 49ers, barring a setback. Expect him to resume his normal role as a situational defensive player and backup to starting strong safety John Johnson.
Oct 3, 2019
Inactive for TNF
Rapp (ankle) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Seahawks, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapp is nursing an ankle injury suffered during Week 4's loss to the Buccaneers, and he hasn't yet resumed practicing. As long as the rookie second-round pick is unable to go, expect Marqui Christian to replace him as a rotational player in the Rams' secondary.
Oct 2, 2019
Unlikely to play Thursday
Rapp (ankle) is considered doubtful for Thursday's game against the Seahawks, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie second-round pick sustained the ankle injury in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers and was unable to practice during the short week of preparation. Marqui Christian could slide into Rapp's rotational role in the secondary in Seattle.
Sep 29, 2019
Exits with ankle injury
Rapp (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie second-round pick made an immediate impact on the Rams' defense with 17 tackles over the first three games. Rapp is a rotational piece, though, and Marqui Christian is expected to have an increased role in his absence.
