Career-best rushing total in win
Pollard rushed 25 times for 161 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans' 31-29 win over the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Pollard churned out a new single-game career-best rushing yardage total in what was the Titans' second win of the season, with a 65-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter serving as the highlight of his stellar afternoon. The veteran back went on to add a 32-yard scoring scamper late in the third quarter, his first multi-TD tally of the season. Pollard had only topped 90 rushing yards once this season before Sunday, so the breakout against what had been a tough Browns defense was particularly unforeseen. Pollard will look to author a fitting encore in a Week 15 road clash against the 49ers next Sunday.

Bright spot in offense
Pollard rushed the ball 10 times for 60 yards in Sunday's 25-3 loss to the Jaguars. He added one reception on two targets for three yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was the Titans' traditional lead back, totaling 10 carries compared to only one for Tyjae Spears. He was one of the few bright spots in the Tennessee offense, with three of his 10 carries going for double-digit yards. While Pollard ceded opportunity to Spears as a receiver, this was his highest yardage total on the ground since Week 5. Despite the positivity, Pollard is difficult to trust as a fantasy starter given the state of the Titans' offense.
Nov 24, 2025
Totals 15 touches
Pollard rushed the ball 11 times for 20 yards in Sunday's 30-24 loss to Seattle. He added four receptions on five targets for 21 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard continued to work as Tennessee's lead back, totaling 15 touches compared to seven for Tyjae Spears. He wasn't particularly effective as either a pass catcher or rusher, and he's now been held below 50 yards from scrimmage in consecutive games. The lone positive for Pollard has been his increased involvement as a pass catcher, as he's combined to record seven catches in his last two matchups.
Nov 16, 2025
Held to 26 yards from scrimmage
Pollard rushed the ball 10 times for 22 yards in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Texans. He added three receptions on three targets for four yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard led the Titans' backfield with 13 touches to nine for Tyjae Spears. However, he was inefficient as both a receiver and a pass catcher, with his longest gain of the day going for only nine yards. Pollard has double-digit touches in every game this season, but this was his lowest yardage output of any contest.
Nov 3, 2025
Tallies 68 yards from scrimmage
Pollard rushed the ball 10 times for 56 yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Chargers. He added one reception on two targets for 12 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard out-carried Tyjae Spears 10-7, though the touches were nearly identical when taking into account receptions. Unlike past weeks, Pollard was the more efficient back, as he opened the game with rushes of 16 and 12 yards on Tennessee's first possession. While there were some positives to take away from the performance, Pollard hasn't found the end zone since Week 5, and the split in touches will continue to hamper his fantasy outlook.
Oct 30, 2025
Full participant Thursday
Polalrd (neck) practiced without limitations Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Pollard popped up on the injury report Wednesday after his practice participation was limited by a neck injury, but he returned to full participation Thursday, paving the way for Pollard to suit up Sunday against the Chargers. Pollard has logged exactly 12 touches in each of his last three games and will likely continue to work in a timeshare with Tyjae Spears on Sunday.
Oct 29, 2025
Limited practice Wednesday
Pollard (neck) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
While logging a 46 percent snap share in in this past Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Colts, Pollard carried 11 times for 44 yards while adding one catch on two targets. Meanwhile, fellow RB, Tyjae Spears parlayed a 52 percent snap share into a 9-59-1 rushing line to go along with three catches for 23 yards. Pollard now has two more chances to upgrade his practice participation before the Titans assign Week 9 injury designations, but so far there's been nothing to suggest that he won't be available this weekend against the Chargers.
Oct 26, 2025
Team-high 11 carries Sunday
Pollard rushed 11 times for 44 yards while adding one reception on two targets for nine yards in Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Pollard finished with a team-high 11 carries in Sunday's blowout loss, but it was backup Tyjae Spears (9-59-1) who produced the superior fantasy score. The 28-year-old Pollard has seen his production dip in recent weeks, tallying just 96 rushing yards with no touchdowns over his last three starts. The untimely dip in production has come alongside Spears' return from injury in Week 5, with a less-than-appealing timeshare developing in Tennessee's backfield. Pollard still retains deep-league value so long as he is starting, but expectations should be kept in check for larger formats against the Chargers next Sunday.
Oct 19, 2025
Involved as pass catcher
Pollard rushed the ball six times for 18 yards in Sunday's 31-13 loss to the Patriots. He added six receptions on six targets for 43 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard slipped into an even workload with Tyjae Spears on the ground, though the Titans attempted only 12 rushes as a team. Instead, Pollard earned most of his fantasy value as a pass catcher, with six catches marking his highest total since Week 14 of the 2023 campaign. While it was a positive for Week 7, the likelihood of Pollard repeating this performance consistently moving forward is slim. Given the state of the Titans' offense and the split in workload, Pollard has lost much of his fantasy appeal since Spears has returned.
Oct 12, 2025
Held in check Sunday
Pollard carried the ball 10 times for 34 yards while adding two receptions for 13 yards in Sunday's 20-10 loss to Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Pollard finished with his worst fantasy score of the season in a less than threatening matchup against the Raiders' defense. The veteran starter still led Tennessee's backfield with 10 carries, finishing five ahead of backup Tyjae Spears. Pollard's reduced touches were rather the result of a poor game script as opposed to a changing of the guard in Tennessee's backfield. Fantasy managers should continue treating Pollard as a potential flex option against the Patriots next Sunday.
Oct 6, 2025
Maintains lead-back role
Pollard rushed the ball 14 times for 67 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-21 win over Arizona. He added three receptions on three targets for 11 yards and also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
It was an eventful day for Pollard with significant swings in performance. He picked up 26 yards on four carries on the Titans' opening drive, but his next notable contribution to the game was losing a fumble that set up an Arizona touchdown. Pollard then redeemed himself with a one-yard score of his own early in the fourth quarter to kickstart a frantic Tennessee comeback that resulted in the team's first win of the season. Also notable was that Pollard out-touched Tyjae Spears 17-4, though Spears is likely to become more involved in future matchups. Pollard has done an admirable job early in the campaign given the state of Tennessee's offense, picking up at least 60 yards on the ground in four of five games.
Sep 28, 2025
Totals 76 yards
Pollard rushed the ball 14 times for 64 yards in Sunday's 26-0 loss to the Texans. He added three receptions for 12 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard had moments of effectiveness, recording his first rush of at least 20 yards with a gain of 21 early in the second quarter. He also had a decent chunk run of 11 yards one quarter later to reach at least 60 rushing yards for the third time in four games this season. While Pollard has played relatively well, the Tennessee offense is so ineffective that it's hard for any skill-position player to maintain consistent fantasy value.
Sep 21, 2025
First TD of 2025
Pollard rushed the ball 16 times for 45 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-20 loss to the Colts. He added two receptions on four targets for 14 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Titans were forced into a pass-heavy game script by falling behind three scores early in the third quarter. That limited Pollard's chances on the ground, though he managed a one-yard touchdown plunge a few minutes of game time later. Pollard has found ways to be productive -- he topped 85 yards from scrimmage in each of his first two games -- but the Tennessee offense is likely to continue to limit his upside.
Sep 14, 2025
Handles 20 carries
Pollard rushed the ball 20 times for 92 yards in Sunday's 33-19 loss to the Rams. He was targeted once but did not record a reception.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was the only Titans' running back to record a touch in Sunday's game and was fairly efficient given the team's poor offensive showing. His biggest gains came on a pair of 10-yard runs on back-to-back possessions just before halftime. Pollard should continue to see a very high workload so long as Tyjae Spears (ankle) remains sidelined, though his touchdown upside is limited until Cameron Ward can get the offense moving more consistently.
Sep 7, 2025
Totals 89 yards against Denver
Pollard rushed the ball 18 times for 60 yards in Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Broncos. He added one reception on one target for 29 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard predictably dominated work out of the Tennessee backfield, accounting for 18 of the team's 21 rushing attempts. He was unable to find much room to run, as he managed a long gain of only nine yards on the ground while averaging just 3.3 yards per attempt with a lost fumble. Pollard's biggest impact of the game came on a 29-yard catch on Tennessee's first possession that ultimately set up a field goal. While his stat line wasn't particularly impressive, Pollard should have a very safe workload heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Rams.
Aug 26, 2025
Extra early-season work on tap
Pollard appears primed for an expanded early-season workload with the Titans having placed No. 2 running back Tyjae Spears (ankle) on injured reserve Tuesday, which rules him out for a minimum of four games, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard remains Tennessee's unquestioned backfield starter, but head coach Brian Callahan had consistently stated a desire throughout the offseason to more evenly distribute backfield reps between he and Spears. If that plan does come to fruition in 2025, it'll have to wait until Spears is fully recovered from his high-ankle sprain, which won't be until Week 5 at the earliest. As such, beginning Week 1 against the Broncos and through at least the rest of September, Pollard appears primed for a workhorse role out of the backfield. Julius Chestnut and Kalel Mullings (ankle) are available to contribute in rotational roles, though the Titans seem a strong candidate to pursue backfield depth in advance of the regular-season opener.
Aug 9, 2025
Finds end zone in preseason start
Pollard rushed the ball four times for nine yards in Saturday's 29-7 preseason loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Pollard played two offensive drives with the starting offense and out-carried Tyjae Spears (ankle) 4-2. The primary goal of the drives appeared to be to get Cameron Ward reps, which limited Pollard's opportunities. However, Pollard still punched in a one-yard touchdown, the Titans' only score of the game. Spears suffered an ankle injury during the contest, which could affect Pollard's workload in the regular season.
Aug 6, 2025
Listed as lone starter
Pollard is listed alone atop the running back position in Tennessee's first unofficial depth chart, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Titans' coaching staff has talked up an even backfield split between Pollard and Tyjae Spears this offseason, but Pollard still holds the top spot on the depth chart. That could be notable relative to last season, when Pollard and Spears were listed as co-starters on the initial depth chart. Pollard has handled roughly 250 carries each of the last two seasons, while Spears has not topped 100 in either of his two years as a pro. While those numbers could move toward each other in 2025, it appears as though Pollard is still in a position to lead the backfield.
May 21, 2025
Coach envisions even backfield split
Titans head coach Brian Callahan said Wednesday that the team intends to deploy a backfield distribution that allows Pollard and Tyjae Spears to "play a little more evenly" in 2025, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Callahan said Pollard, who compiled a career-high 1,079 rushing yards plus five scores on 260 carries (4.2 YPC) last season, "was our most productive running back" but acknowledged that he "was battling the second half of the year quite a bit" and struggled to remain fully healthy, as did Spears. "So hopefully that division of labor gets a little more evenly distributed so [Pollard] doesn't have to take the brunt of it," Callahan said, also expressing a desire to work a third back into the mix between Julius Chestnut and rookie sixth-rounder Kalel Mullings (abdomen). Pollard said the right high ankle sprain he dealt with late in 2024 is "ready to go" and that "getting more guys involved, keeping guys fresh" would be "ideal." A decrease in overall workload could allow the 28-year-old Pollard to better maintain his efficiency for a full 17-game slate, and even if he doesn't reprise a workhorse role, he's positioned to repeat as Tennessee's top backfield option. With Cam Ward now under center rather than Will Le
Jan 5, 2025
Totals 22 carries in Week 18
Pollard rushed the ball 22 times for 62 yards in Sunday's 23-14 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Pollard returned from a one-game absence caused by an ankle issue and illness and handled a workhorse role out of the Tennessee backfield. He struggled to get going, however, as 11 of his carries went for one yard or fewer. Pollard concludes his first season with the Titans with a career-high 1,079 rushing yards and should be back as the team's lead back in 2025 -- potentially in an improved offense.
Jan 5, 2025
Suiting up as expected
Pollard (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was sidelined for Week 17 due to a combination of an ankle injury and illness. However, he'll be back in action after logging two limited practices during the week, and he should have a clear path to a significant workload with Tyjae Spears (concussion) sidelined. Per Turron Davenport of ESPN, Pollard needs 83 rushing yards to earn $250,000 in incentives and he could earn an additional $200,000 if he finds the end zone twice. That will give him plenty to play for despite the Titans being out of playoff contention.
Jan 4, 2025
Expected to play Sunday
Pollard (ankle) is expected to play Sunday against the Texans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was downgraded to DNP on Friday after limited practices Wednesday and Thursday, and he was listed as questionable. It sounds like it may have been more of a rest day for the veteran running back. With Tyjae Spears (concussion) out for the regular-season finale, Pollard should handle close to a full workload if he's truly healthy. Julius Chestnut would be next in line for carries if Pollard is less than 100 percent.
Jan 3, 2025
Game-time decision after DNP
Pollard (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans and will be a game-time decision, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard didn't practice Friday after posting limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday as he attempts to work his way back from a one-game absence due to an ankle injury. Tyjae Spears started in Pollard's absence against the Jaguars in Week 17, but Spears suffered a concussion that will keep him out of Sunday's season finale. Julius Chestnut and Joshua Kelley are the remaining healthy running backs on Tennessee's active roster, with Jabari Small on the team's practice squad.
Jan 2, 2025
Reps capped in Thursday's session
Pollard (ankle) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Pollard hasn't turned in a full practice since Week 14, but that hadn't stopped him from playing until Week 17, when he missed his first game of the season in the Titans' 20-13 loss to the Jaguars after logging no on-field work from Wednesday through Friday. He looks to be in a better spot on the health front than he was a week ago, as he's kicked off Week 18 prep with a pair of limited sessions. While Pollard could still take a designation into Sunday's season finale versus the Texans if he's a limited or non-participant in Friday's session, he'll have some motivation to play through the ankle issue. With 1,017 rushing yards through 15 games, Pollard sits 83 yards away from reaching 1,100 on the season and earning a $250,000 bonus.
Jan 1, 2025
Listed as LP
Pollard is listed as a limited participant after Tennessee's walk-through practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Tyjae Spears (concussion) is unlikely to play Week 18, whereas quotes from coach Brian Callahan make it sound like Pollard is more of a 50/50 case. Callahan mentioned Wednesday that Pollard hopes to return after missing Week 17, with the running back having some added motivation in the form of $250,000 incentives for 1,100 rushing yards or seven rushing TDs. Pollard has run for 1,017 yards and five TDs in 15 games, with his average of 4.3 YPC being impressive in light of the dismal state of Tennessee's offense. Callahan said QBs Mason Rudolph and Will Levis both will get playing time Sunday against the Titans.
Dec 30, 2024
Could return for Week 18
Pollard (ankle/illness) might play Sunday against Houston, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard missed Sunday's loss to Jacksonville due to both an ankle injury and the flu. Tyjae Spears took over as the Titans' starting RB for the contest, but he suffered a concussion in the third quarter and is uncertain to be able to suit up for the season finale. Though Tennessee has long been eliminated from playoff contention, Pollard could return to action for the season finale. However, if both Pollard and Spears don't suit up, the Titans' backfield could be led by Julius Chestnut and Joshua Kelley.
Dec 28, 2024
Won't play Sunday
Pollard (ankle/illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was previously listed as questionable for the contest with an ankle injury, but with the running back now also dealing with an illness, he's been downgraded to out by the Titans. With Pollard unavailable, Tyjae Spears is slated to lead the team's Week 17 backfield, with Julius Chestnut and Joshua Kelley on hand to mix in.
Dec 28, 2024
Sunday status cloudy
Pollard, who was previously listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars with an ankle injury, is also dealing with the flu, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Fowler, Pollard -- who had planned to play through his ankle issue -- isn't expected to travel with the Titans on Saturday. If he's deemed unable to play Sunday, Tyjae Spears would be in line to see an expanded role in the team's Week 17 backfield.
Dec 27, 2024
Questionable for Sunday
Pollard (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Jacksonville, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard didn't practice at all this week, but that was also true last week when he ended up playing in a 38-30 loss to the Colts. He's ceded more work to Tyjae Spears the past couple games, in part because the Titans have played from behind, although it also seems the ankle injury and Spears' performance have been contributing factors. While Pollard still figures to be the lead runner if he avoids the inactive list before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, his workload projection is a far cry from what we saw as recently as 3-4 weeks ago.
Dec 27, 2024
Not spotted Friday
Pollard (ankle) wasn't seen at practice Friday, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard will finish Week 17 preparations without logging any practice reps, but Friday's injury report will reveal whether he has a chance to suit up regardless Sunday against the Jaguars. He played against the Colts in Week 16 despite logging three DNPs in practice, but Pollard was limited to a 39 percent snap share. If Pollard's sidelined or limited, Tyjae Spears -- who has four touchdowns in the last two games -- would stand to benefit.
Dec 26, 2024
Sidelined for another practice
Pollard (ankle) wasn't spotted on the field for Thursday's practice, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard will go down as a non-participant for the seventh time on the Titans' last eight practice reports, but the running back has yet to miss a game. However, after sitting out all three of the Titans' sessions last week before taking a questionable tag into the weekend, Pollard played a season-low 40 percent of the offensive snaps in a 38-30 loss to the Colts. Even if Pollard is able to suit up again this Sunday in Jacksonville, he could once again find himself in a timeshare out of the backfield with Tyjae Spears, who played the other 60 percent of snaps last week and scored two touchdowns while accounting for 66 yards from scrimmage on 13 touches (10 carries, three receptions).
Dec 25, 2024
Estimated as 'DNP' on Wednesday
Pollard (ankle) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard didn't practice last week before approaching this past Sunday's loss to the Colts listed as questionable. The running back was able to suit up for the contest after all, en route to recording a 39 percent snap share and carrying eight times for 35 yards and catching two of his four targets for five yards. With no reported setbacks, it's plausible that Pollard's estimated non-participation Wednesday is indicative of the Titans managing his practice reps ahead of this weekend's game against the Jaguars.
Dec 22, 2024
Loses work to Spears
Pollard rushed eight times for 35 yards and brought in two of four targets for five yards in the Titans' 38-30 loss to the Colts on Sunday. He also had a two-point conversion rush.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was ultimately the more efficient on the ground between him and backfield mate Tyjae Spears, but the latter recorded two rushing touchdowns while also logging two additional carries and one more target. Pollard did record a scoring run when he punched in a two-point conversion after Spears' first touchdown late in the third quarter, but he's now recorded under 50 rushing yards in five of the last seven games while also dealing with a nagging ankle injury. The division of labor in the Titans backfield is an unwelcome open question for fantasy managers heading into championship weekend in many leagues, one that will see Tennessee visit the Jaguars next Sunday.
Dec 22, 2024
Ready to go for Week 16
Pollard (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Pollard is active after logging only a limited practice session Friday. He saw his snap count limited in Week 15 due to the same lingering ankle issue, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Tyjae Spears get more involved once again while Pollard receives more limited volume.
Dec 21, 2024
Trending toward playing Week 16
Pollard (ankle) is expected tp play Sunday against the Colts, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard has played in every game for the Titans this season despite dealing with lingering foot and/or ankle injuries for over a month. The 27-year-old has been in and out of practice for much of this time period, and he did not practice Wednesday or Thursday before logging a limited session Friday. Pollard is still listed as questionable, so his official availability will be revealed 90 minutes prior to kickoff at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Dec 20, 2024
Questionable after another missed practice
Pollard (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts after not practicing this week, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fortunately for those who would normally consider Pollard in fantasy lineups, the Titans kick off at 1:00 ET on Sunday, a scenario that would in most cases allow fantasy managers to turn to Week 16 pivot options if he's sidelined. If Pollard ends up limited or out versus Indianapolis, Tyjae Spears would be in line to see an expanded backfield role for Tennessee this weekend.
Dec 19, 2024
Misses practice Thursday
Pollard (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard hasn't practiced much in recent weeks while managing foot and/or ankle injuries, but he's played in every game this season and finished with no fewer than 29 snaps or nine touches in any contest. There's some extra concern this week, however, as he aggravated his ankle during Sunday's 37-27 loss to the Bengals and may thus be dealing with more discomfort relative to previous weeks. He returned to the game in short order but then took a backseat to Tyjae Spears in the fourth quarter when the Titans were chasing a multi-score deficit. In any case, a return to practice Friday presumably would put Pollard on track to play Sunday against Indianapolis.
Dec 18, 2024
Held out of practice
Pollard (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard has played through foot and/or ankle injuries for the better part of two months, including last week when he was listed as questionable and then briefly left a loss to the Bengals in the first half after aggravating his ankle. He returned to the game and took 10 more carries for 18 yards, finishing with a 17-45-1 rushing line, but Tyjae Spears then dominated playing time and touches in the fourth quarter with Tennessee trailing by multiple scores. There's risk of Pollard either missing Sunday's game against the Colts or handling a lesser role than what he's been tasked with for most of the season.
Dec 16, 2024
Inconsistent showing against Cincy
Pollard rushed the ball 17 times for 45 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-27 loss to the Bengals. He was not targeted in the passing game.
ANALYSIS
Pollard got off to a strong start, as he accounted for 22 yards and a touchdown on the Titans' opening possession. Things got rocky from there, however. In addition to briefly leaving the game due to ankle injury, Pollard also lost a fumble that should have been returned for a touchdown before Jordan Battle fumbled out of the end zone. Positively, Pollard remains the clear lead back and has shown the ability to excel on the ground despite the poor state of the Tennessee offense.
Dec 15, 2024
Returns to Sunday's game
Pollard (ankle) returned to Sunday's game against the Bengals, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was managing an ankle issue ahead of Week 15 action, so it's possible that he aggravated the issue. However, he's back in the Titans' backfield mix after having previously exited Sunday's contest.
Dec 15, 2024
Hurts ankle Sunday
Pollard was forced out of Sunday's game against the Bengals with an ankle injury, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from the contest, Pollard carried seven times for 27 yards and a TD. In his absence, Tyjae Spears is next in line to handle the Titans' Week 15 carries.
Dec 15, 2024
Ready to face Cincinnati
Pollard (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was officially listed as questionable for the matchup after his only practice participation was a limited session Friday. However, he'll suit up and presumably lead the Tennessee backfield in a matchup against a Cincinnati defensive line that has struggled in the absence of Sheldon Rankins (illness). Meanwhile, Pollard has topped 100 yards from scrimmage in three of the Titans' last six games.
Dec 14, 2024
Likely to suit up Sunday
Pollard, who is questionable for Sunday's matchup versus Cincinnati due to an ankle injury, is expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard entered the weekend deemed questionable after logging a DNP/DNP/LP progression during the practice week. It appears the veteran running back will be able to play through the ankle injury and avoid missing his first game of the season. Pollard needs 63 rushing yards to reach the 1,000-yard mark on the ground for the third consecutive campaign.
Dec 13, 2024
Status in question for Week 15
Pollard (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Bengals, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard wasn't able to practice Wednesday or Thursday due to an ankle injury, and while he wasn't spotted at the media-access portion of Friday's session, he ended up going down as a limited participant to end Week 15 prep. Coach Brian Callahan told Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com earlier Friday that Pollard should be able to suit up Sunday, but such a decision won't become known until about 90 minutes before a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 13, 2024
Not spotted early on in practice
Pollard (ankle) wasn't present during the open portion of Friday's practice, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, so his absence from the initial stage of Friday's session is noteworthy. The Titans' upcoming injury report will reveal Pollard's designation for Sunday's game against the Bengals, but if he's limited or out this weekend, Tyjae Spears would be in line for added touches in Week 15.
Dec 12, 2024
Absent for another practice
Pollard (ankle) isn't practicing Thursday, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard has now sat out both of the Titans' first two Week 15 practices, making his activity (or lack thereof) in Friday's session important with respect to determining his status for Sunday's game against the Bengals. The 27-year-old has suited up in all 13 of the Titans' contest to date, but if Pollard is forced to miss his first game of the season Sunday, Tyjae Spears would likely have a path to double-digit touches out of the backfield.
Dec 11, 2024
Bothered by ankle
Pollard missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Titans listed him with a foot injury at the end of October and for much of November, but Pollard hasn't missed a game this season and didn't show any obvious signs of injury during a 10-6 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. An absence for the upcoming game against Cincinnati on Sunday would leave Tyjae Spears as the likely lead back for Tennessee, although Julius Chestnut might get a lot of carries between the tackles and goal-line work.
Dec 8, 2024
Rebounds against Jags
Pollard rushed the ball 21 times for 102 yards in Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Jaguars. He added two receptions on two targets for 22 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard turned in a needed bounceback performance after managing only 35 yards on the ground in Week 13, and he delivered three rushes that went for a double-digit gain. He topped the century mark in rushing yards for the third time this season, all of which have come in his last six games. Pollard will remain an inconsistent option due to the poor Tennessee offense, but it's clear that he is a driving force for the unit.
Dec 2, 2024
Four catches in blowout loss
Pollard rushed the ball eight times for 35 yards in Sunday's 42-19 loss to the Commanders. He added four receptions on six targets for 33 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard's most notable contribution to the game was a lost fumble late in the first quarter, which led to a Commanders touchdown three plays later. He was quickly scripted out of the contest from a rushing perspective, but he did account for eight of the team's 11 rushing attempts. If there was a positive to take away for Pollard, it was his involvement as a pass catcher, as he recorded his highest yardage total as a receiver since Week 2.
Nov 24, 2024
Big effort in upset win
Pollard rushed the ball 24 times for 119 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 32-27 win over the Texans. He added three receptions on five targets for 10 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard's volume jumped in the absence of Tyjae Spears (concussion) to tally at least 20 rushing attempts for the fourth time this season. He was perfectly capable of shouldering that workload, ripping off long gains of 27 and 19 yards while also finding the end zone from 10 yards out early in the second quarter. That was enough for Pollard to reach 100 yards on the ground for the second time this season, and he will be a must-start fantasy option in Week 13 against Washington if Spears remains sidelined.
Nov 22, 2024
Could be busy with Spears sidelined
Pollard is expected to get the majority of carries in Sunday's game against the Texans, per Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site, as Tyjae Spears (concussion) has been ruled out.
ANALYSIS
Pollard has averaged 24 touches in three games Spears has missed this season. An increased workload, albeit against a stout Texans front, could help Pollard get back on track after he tied his season low with 29 scrimmage yards in Tennessee's Week 11 loss to the Vikings.
Nov 17, 2024
No room to operate Sunday
Pollard (foot) rushed nine times for 15 yards and caught two of four targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 23-13 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
The Titans' rushing attack was abysmal against the Vikings' front, generating just 33 yards on 19 attempts as a team. Pollard was battling a foot injury during the practice week before gaining clearance for Sunday, but Tennessee's offensive line wouldn't have been able to create enough push for Derrick Henry had he stayed with the club this past offseason. Pollard should produce better results against Houston next Sunday.
Nov 15, 2024
Good to go against Vikings
Pollard (foot) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Pollard steadily increased his practice participation level throughout the week, capping Week 11 preparation with a full practice Friday following a DNP on Wednesday and a limited showing Thursday. He remains the lead back in Tennessee, though Pollard saw a decrease in usage following Tyjae Spears' return from a hamstring injury in Week 10 against the Chargers. Pollard got only nine carries in the 27-17 loss to Los Angeles after averaging 21.3 carries during Spears' three-game absence.
Nov 14, 2024
Limited due to foot issue
Pollard was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice due to a foot injury, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Pollard's lack of participation in Wednesday's practice was attributed to rest, he's now appearing on the Titans' injury report with a foot issue attached to his name. Pollard had shown up on Titans reports the past two weeks with the same injury and was ultimately cleared to play in games against the Patriots and Chargers, and assuming he's able to continue practicing in some fashion Friday, he should have a good chance at suiting up this Sunday versus the Vikings. Even so, Pollard may be operating as Option 1A out of the backfield rather than a true three-down workhorse, as he played just 53 percent of snaps and handled 13 touches in the loss to the Chargers in Week 10, when Tyjae Spears (47 percent snap share, 10 touches) made his return from a three-game absence due to a hamstring injury.
Nov 10, 2024
Only 13 touches in loss
Pollard rushed the ball nine times for 44 yards in Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Chargers. He added three receptions on three targets for four yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard suffered an apparent lower-body injury in the second quarter that caused him to miss a couple series, and the return of Tyjae Spears also cost Pollard some work. The result was Pollard recording his lowest touch and yardage total since Week 3. He should remain a key part of the Tennessee offense, but he's likely to settle into leading a more evenly split backfield moving forward.
Nov 8, 2024
Cleared for Week 10
Pollard (foot) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chargers after returning to a limited practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
Fellow RB Tyjae Spears (hamstring) doesn't carry a Week 10 injury designation, either, and thus is set to return from a three-game absence. Pollard, who is coming off a 28-carry, 128-yard effort in a Week 9 overtime win over the Patriots, is on track to remain the Titans' lead back this weekend. The return of Spears should allow the team to ease Pollard's workload to a degree, but presumably not to an extent that would prevent him from maintaining fantasy utility versus Los Angeles.
Nov 8, 2024
Back at practice
Pollard (foot) was spotted at practice Friday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard (foot) didn't practice Thursday, but the running back's return to the field a day later suggests that his absence was maintenance-related. Friday's injury report will reveal whether Pollard carries an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers, but at this stage we'd expect him to be available this weekend.
Nov 7, 2024
Doesn't practice Thursday
Pollard (foot) didn't practice Thursday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, so his downgrade in participation a day later is notable. That said, the running back didn't practice ahead of Week 9 action and was able to log an 86 percent snap share in this past Sunday's win over the Patriots, carrying 28 times for 128 yards and adding three catches for 26 yards in the contest. With no reported setbacks, it's plausible that Pollard's 'DNP' on Thursday could be maintenance-related.
Nov 6, 2024
Limited to begin Week 10 prep
Pollard (foot) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard's limited status matched that of backup Tyjae Spears (hamstring), who is hoping to return from a three-game absence. Pollard hasn't missed a game this season, and his availability for Sunday's game against the Chargers doesn't appear to be in any danger after Pollard racked up 54 touches en route to 271 scrimmage yards over Tennessee's past two games. Still, a full practice from Pollard on Thursday or Friday would help set fantasy managers' minds at ease.
Nov 3, 2024
Heavy workload against NE
Pollard rushed the ball 28 times for 128 yards in Sunday's 29-17 overtime win against the Patriots. He added three receptions on three targets for 26 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard entered Sunday's game questionable after failing to practice in any capacity throughout the week. That was hardly apparent in Sunday's win, as he dominated rushing attempts out of the Titans' backfield and was also efficient with the opportunity. He accounted for the team's longest play from scrimmage with a 32-yard rush on Tennessee's first possession, setting up a touchdown on the next play. Overall, four of Pollard's 28 carries went for double-digit gains, and he narrowly missed out on an even bigger performance after having a touchdown nullified by a holding call. He should remain a key playmaker in Tennessee's offense moving forward.
Nov 3, 2024
Playing through foot injury
Pollard is active for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard appeared to be trending toward an absence, as he failed to practice in any capacity throughout the week. However, he tested his foot in pregame warmups and is feeling well enough to suit up. Assuming his foot holds up, he should see a heavy dose of touches considering the ongoing absence of Tyjae Spears (hamstring), though both Julius Chestnut and Joshua Kelley are available to spell Pollard if required.
Nov 2, 2024
Trending toward playing Sunday
Pollard will test his injured foot prior to Sunday's game against New England, though the Titans "feel good" about him and "anticipate he will play," Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard didn't practice at all this week, but he was nonetheless deemed questionable heading into the weekend. The fact that fellow running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) has already been ruled out for Sunday makes Pollard's status more consequential for Tennessee, though the team did sign RB Joshua Kelley to the active roster off the practice squad Saturday. Julius Chestnut is the only other healthy running back on the roster.
Nov 1, 2024
Status up in air for Week 9
Pollard (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Pollard wasn't able to practice at all this week due to a foot injury, but the Titans still are giving him a chance to be available to the offense Week 9. The reasoning may be that fellow RB Tyjae Spears (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game, leaving just Julius Chestnut as the healthy running back on the active roster and Joshua Kelley as a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad this weekend. Pollard's status will be clarified about 90 minutes before a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 31, 2024
Sits out second straight practice
Pollard (foot) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, John Glennon of NashvillePost.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard's absence from practice for a second straight day due to the foot injury clouds his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots. The Titans will see what, if anything, Pollard is able to do during Friday's session before determining his availability for the Week 9 contest. Pollard has taken on at least 18 touches in each of Tennessee's last four games, but if the foot issue keeps him out against New England or if he's available to take on only a limited workload, Tyjae Spears (hamstring), Julius Chestnut and practice-squad member Joshua Kelley would be candidates to take on more work out of the backfield.
Oct 30, 2024
Misses practice with foot injury
Pollard was held out of Wednesday's practice with a foot injury.
ANALYSIS
There was no hint of trouble in Sunday's 52-14 loss at Detroit, with Pollard taking 24 touches for 117 yards while playing 80 percent of snaps on offense. There's risk of his role being scaled back for Week 9 against New England even if the foot injury turn out to be a non-issue, as fellow Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) managed a limited practice Wednesday after missing the past two games.
Oct 28, 2024
Strong showing against Lions
Pollard rushed the ball 20 times for 94 yards in Sunday's 52-14 loss to the Lions. He added three receptions on four targets for 23 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was among the few bright spots in the loss, tallying two rushes of more than 15 yards while also recording a 17-yard reception. That combination allowed him to top 100 total yards from scrimmage in a game for only the second time this season. While Pollard is being held back by the Tennessee offense, he has at least 19 touches in five of seven contests on the campaign.
Oct 20, 2024
Inefficient against Bills
Pollard rushed the ball 16 times for 61 yards in Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Bills. He added two receptions on six targets for four yards.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Pollard dominated work out of Tennessee's backfield with Tyjae Spears (hamstring) sidelined, as he accounted for 16 of the 19 carries by running backs. However, he was scripted out of the game in the second half -- he had only three carries across the final two quarters -- and also struggled to get going as a receiver with Mason Rudolph under center. Pollard should continue to get plenty of work in Week 8, but a matchup against Detroit will provide him with another stout defense against the run.
Oct 13, 2024
Lone bright spot in loss
Pollard rushed 17 times for 93 yards and a touchdown and brought in all three targets for minus-5 yards in the Titans' 20-17 loss to the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
On a day when Will Levis threw for under 100 yards, Pollard's production on the ground against the Colts' notoriously poor defense was the one bright spot for Tennessee. The veteran running back also recorded his third touchdown of the campaign on an impressive 23-yard run in the third quarter, helping Pollard to a new season high in rushing yardage. Pollard will next take aim at the Bills' defense in a Week 7 road matchup.
Sep 30, 2024
Heavy workload in Week 4 win
Pollard rushed 22 times for 88 yards and a touchdown while catching both of his targets for 20 yards in Monday's 31-12 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Pollard set up the game's first touchdown with a 41-yard run, as Tyjae Spears ran in a seven-yard touchdown on the next play. The former Cowboys running back scored one of his own from four yards out in the final minute, giving Pollard two touchdowns through four games with the Titans. Pollard finished with 22 carries to Spears' 15 as the Titans lost quarterback Will Levis to a shoulder injury early and went run-heavy against the offensively challenged Dolphins. After a Week 5 bye, Pollard should continue to operate as the 1A option in Tennessee's backfield, regardless of whether Levis or Mason Rudolph starts under center against the Colts in Week 6.
Sep 22, 2024
Disappointing Week 3 showing
Pollard rushed the ball six times for 14 yards in Sunday's 30-14 loss to the Packers. He added three receptions on four targets for 15 yards.
ANALYSIS
Though the limited volume suggests otherwise, Pollard operated as Tennessee's lead back by accounting for nine of the team's 15 total touches and six of eight rushing attempts. Game script didn't work in his favor, however, as the Titans never led and were down 10 points by the end of the first quarter and never closed that gap. While this was a disappointing performance for Pollard, he should be in for a bounceback spot against a struggling Dolphins team in Week 4.
Sep 15, 2024
Another hefty workload Sunday
Pollard rushed 17 times for 62 yards and secured five of six targets for 40 yards in the Titans' 24-17 loss to the Jets on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Pollard once again was the clear lead back for the Titans' ground attack, although the fact backfield mate Tyjae Spears exited the game in the second half with an ankle injury, per Jim Wyatt of the team's official site, certainly helped lock in that standing. Nevertheless, Pollard has been the clear-cut top option through two games when both backs have been healthy, and his involvement as a pass catcher (10 total targets) has been very encouraging. Pollard next takes aim at the Packers' suspect run defense in a Week 3 home matchup.
Sep 8, 2024
Clearly leads TEN backfield
Pollard rushed the ball 16 times for 82 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Bears. He added three receptions on four targets for 12 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Titans' coaching staff was adamant that the backfield would be split evenly between Pollard and Tyjae Spears, though Pollard dominated Week 1 work by tallying 19 touches to Spears' eight. Pollard also saw each of the first eight carries, with Spears not tallying his first touch until early in the second quarter. The veteran shined in his debut with Tennessee, highlighted by a 26-yard touchdown scamper late in the first quarter while also supplementing that with gains of 14 and 11 yards.
Sep 6, 2024
Still looking at split backfield
Pollard is expected to split time evenly with Tyjae Spears to begin the season,Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Offensive coordinator Nick Holz said that he expects the backs to split snaps evenly and that each has plays specifically tailored to them in the offense. Pollard suffered through a surprisingly inefficient 2023 season with the Cowboys, however, he's now roughly 18 months removed from suffering a fractured leg and showed explosiveness as both a runner and pass catcher during preseason action.
Aug 25, 2024
Scores TD in preseason finale
Pollard rushed five times for 17 yards and a touchdown while catching both of his targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 30-27 preseason win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Pollard got all six touches in Tennessee's backfield on the opening drive, the last of which was a one-yard touchdown run. Tyjae Spears got the first three carries on the second possession while the rest of the first-team offense remained in the game, but Pollard checked back in to pick up a 14-yard catch on 4th-and-1. Pollard and Spears are set to share backfield duties in the regular season, which begins Sept. 8 in Chicago, with the former Cowboys running back likely to have an edge in playing time based on their deployment in Sunday's dress rehearsal.
Aug 10, 2024
Leads backfield in debut with TEN
Pollard rushed four times for 35 yards and a caught both of his targets for 11 yards in Saturday's 17-13 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was the first back utilized in Saturday's preseason opener and he wound up leading the team with six combined touches for 46 yards. Tyjae Spears finished with just three yards on three touches in the exhibition win, but he scored the only rushing touchdown out of the duo. Pollard showed good burst and acceleration in his brief debut Saturday, and he remains the preferred fantasy target out of Tennessee's backfield as we enter draft season.
Jul 23, 2024
Interchangeable with Spears
Speaking Tuesday, Titans coach Brian Callahan said he doesn't view Pollard or Tyjae Spears as the clear-cut "starter" in the backfield, and both are "starting players," Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
"The fun part for me is: How are we going to deploy those guys?," Callahan said. "Maybe they both play at the same time, maybe one gets hot and you let him run, maybe we just rotate back and forth. I don't know what that's going to look like yet. But they are both going to play quite a bit of football for us, and I don't view either one of them as a starter or a backup. They are both starting players to me." This sounds like typical coachspeak at this point of training camp, and it's worth noting Pollard was handpicked by this coaching staff when he was inked to a three-year, $21.75 million deal on the first day of free agency. It's also worth pointing out that Callahan used a true three-down workhorse in his time with the Bengals, riding Joe Mixon as a legitimate three-down back, a skill set Pollard possesses. Pollard is coming off an inefficient 2023 season in Dallas, but he's now more than a full year removed from his broken fibula and is still just 27 years old and smack-dab in his prime. For fantasy purp

Set to sign with Tennessee
Pollard is slated to sign a three-year, $24 million deal with the Titans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
With the looming move, it appears as though Derrick Henry will be playing elsewhere in 2024, while Dallas will be in the running back market in free agency and/or the draft. Pollard is now slated to join a backfield that also includes 2023 third-rounder Tyjae Spears, a context that figures to result in some form of an RB time share in Tennessee this coming season.
Feb 26, 2024
Headed for free agency
The Cowboys aren't expected to franchise-tag Pollard and likely will allow him to test free agency, ESPN's Adam Schefter.
ANALYSIS
Schefter is reporting the same thing about Raiders RB Josh Jacobs and Giants RB Saquon Barkley, both of whom received franchise tags last offseason (just like Pollard). Each of the three suffered a statistical decline from 2022 to 2023, especially in terms of yards per carry, though Pollard did better late in the season and ultimately snuck over 1,000 rushing yards for the year. Schefter also reports that RBs Derrick Henry and Austin Ekeler will be allowed to test free agency, with a deep class at the position potentially harming all of them when it comes to salary negotiations.
Jan 14, 2024
Finds end zone in loss to Packers
Pollard carried the ball 15 times for 56 yards and a touchdown and caught seven of nine targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 48-32 wild-card loss to Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-year back had a solid day, seeing some early success on the ground and punching in a one-yard touchdown in the third quarter, but the Cowboys' overall struggles put them in a hole that eventually forced the offense to abandon the running game. Pollard had a productive regular season, gaining 1,005 rushing yards -- two short of his career high -- and six TDs on the ground while catching 55 of 67 targets for 311 receiving yards over 17 games, but it's unclear if he'll return as Dallas' starting RB as he heads into free agency.
Jan 7, 2024
Big finish to regular season
Pollard carried the ball 17 times for 70 yards and a touchdown and caught both his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
The running back wrapped up the regular season with his best performance in over a month, as Pollard scored his first TD since Week 13 and reach 70 rushing yards for the first time since Week 12. He also collected his second straight season with 1,000 rushing yards, just nosing across the line with 1,005 before hitting the bench in favor of Rico Dowdle in the fourth quarter. Pollard will look to carry his momentum into the wild-card round next weekend, as the Cowboys host the Packers.
Dec 31, 2023
Minimal production on 17 touches
Pollard rushed the ball 16 times for 49 yards in Saturday's 20-19 win over the Lions. He added one reception on three targets for zero yards.
ANALYSIS
The good news is that Pollard dominated touches out of the Dallas backfield, handling 16 of the team's 21 rushing attempts. The bad news was his efficiency on those touches, as he managed only 3.1 yards per carry with nine of his attempts going for fewer than three yards. Pollard now has been held out of the end zone and kept under 60 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Dec 24, 2023
Struggles despite improved health
Pollard rushed 12 times for 38 yards and caught his lone target for five yards in Sunday's 22-20 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Pollard admitted that he was still recovering from offseason surgery earlier in the season, and that he finally started feeling healthy in recent weeks. However, the results on the field have not fallen in line with the tailback's statements. Pollard's season-long struggles have resulted in a per-carry average more than a full yard below last year's breakout mark of 5.2. Things won't get any easier for Dallas' lead back with a matchup against the fourth-stingiest run defense on tap when the Cowboys host the Lions on Dec. 30.
Dec 22, 2023
Finally feeling 100 percent
Pollard said Thursday that during the early portion of the season he was still working his way back from offseason surgery to address a leg fracture, but that "it's a night and day difference now," Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard said it wasn't until "halfway through the season, a little bit after the bye week" that he felt he was "starting to get into the groove of things." Heading into Dallas' bye in Week 7, Pollard had logged back-to-back games with under 30 rushing yards, while in eight appearances since he hasn't been held under 50 yards on the ground a single time (4.3 YPC in that span). He's also been targeted at least four times in five of his last six appearance, though it's somewhat concerning that the exception came in last week's loss to the Bills. If Pollard can indeed showcase some extra playmaking ability and burst Week 16, he could take advantage of a Miami defense that's looked vulnerable versus the run at times.
Dec 17, 2023
Slowed by Bills
Pollard rushed the ball 11 times for 52 yards in Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Bills. He added two receptions on three targets for five yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard had his rushing volume limited by game script, as the Cowboys were down 21-3 by halftime. More concerning was his lack of opportunity as a pass catcher, as he failed to reach at least 15 receiving yards for the first time in four contests. Overall, Pollard managed his lowest yardage total since Week 10, though his effort came in the context of the entire Dallas offense severely underperforming expectations.
Dec 11, 2023
Ties personal best in receptions
Pollard rushed 16 times for 59 yards and caught seven of eight targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 33-13 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was stymied on the ground against a tough Philadelphia defensive front, but his contributions as a receiver helped him approach the century mark in total yards. The starter ceded a short score on one of backup Rico Dowdle's 12 carries Sunday. Had Pollard been gifted the one-yard touchdown in the second quarter instead, he would have increased his modest streak of games with 60 rushing yards and a touchdown to four instead of missing both marks. Pollard did eclipse 1,000 combined yards from scrimmage with Sunday's showing, a feat he has accomplished for three years running. Dallas' feature back will face the Bills, who have surrendered 110.9 rushing yards per game this season, on the road next Sunday.
Dec 1, 2023
Solid all-around effort in win
Pollard rushed 20 times for 68 yards and a touchdown and brought in three of four targets for 15 yards in the Cowboys' 41-35 win over the Seahawks on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The air attack took center stage in a game that somewhat unexpectedly turned into a back-and-forth aerial display, but Pollard put in a workman-like effort that included six-yard run late in the third quarter to narrow a 28-20 deficit. Pollard gained 16 additional yards on one other carry, meaning the majority of his night was an exercise in grinding out tough yards. The veteran back extended his streak of multi-reception tallies to three games and did the same in terms of number of consecutive contests with 60+ rushing yards, but he'll have an even tougher assignment in a Week 14 home showdown on Sunday night, Dec. 10 against the elite Eagles run defense.
Nov 23, 2023
Big day in big win
Pollard carried the ball 13 times for 79 yards and a touchdown and caught all six of his targets for 24 yards in Thursday's 45-10 rout of the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
The running back was fairly quiet through the first half. but Pollard churned out a seven-yard TD run right before halftime and then began to pile up some yardage as the Cowboys put the game away. It's the first time in five games since Dallas' bye that the running back has topped 100 scrimmage yards, while the touchdown was his second in as many games and fourth of the year. Pollard hasn't had the huge breakout projected for him in the wake of Ezekiel Elliott's departure, but he still has time to put together a big finish to 2023, with a Week 13 home tilt against a vulnerable Seahawks run defense next on the schedule.
Nov 19, 2023
Breaks touchdown drought
Pollard rushed 12 times for 61 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-10 win over the Panthers. He also caught four of five targets for 19 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard's performance was highlighted by a 21-yard touchdown rush to begin the fourth quarter, snapping a scoring drought since Week 1. With his ground yardage also his most since Week 3, Pollard took advantage of a favorable matchup Sunday. He'll strive to keep his positive momentum going in Thursday's game against the Commanders, who allowed 140 yards and two touchdowns to Giants tailback Saquon Barkley in Week 11.
Nov 12, 2023
Left out of offensive eruption
Pollard carried the ball 15 times for 55 yards in Sunday's 49-17 rout of the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Seemingly every other Cowboys skill player got into the end zone Sunday, even No. 2 RB Rico Dowdle, but Pollard once again couldn't get anything going. The fifth-year back hasn't scored a touchdown since Dallas' opener, and his 55 rushing yards was actually his highest output in that category since Week 3. Pollard will try to break out of his slump in Week 11 against a Panthers defense that ranked 28th in rushing yards allowed per game coming into Sunday.
Nov 5, 2023
Quiet again in Week 9 loss
Pollard carried the ball 12 times for 51 yards and caught three of five passes for 12 yards in Sunday's 28-23 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The running back found some success against a tough Philly front seven in the second half and wound up averaging a respectable 4.3 yards per carry, but Pollard still found himself taking on a secondary role in the Dallas offense even in a competitive contest. Since seeing huge volume early in the season, he's gotten 15 touches or less in four of the last five games, averaging just 70.4 scrimmage yards a game and failing to get into the end zone. In fact, Pollard somehow hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1, when he ran in two TDs against the Giants in a 40-0 rout. A rematch against the Cowboys' NFC East rivals from New York in Week 10 could be just what Pollard needs to get rolling again.
Oct 29, 2023
Left out of offensive outburst
Pollard rushed the ball 12 times for 53 yards in Sunday's 43-20 win over the Rams. He added one reception for two yards.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys scored four offensive touchdowns and racked up 387 total yards, yet Pollard contributed little to the showing. He was held to 13 total touches -- his second-lowest mark of the season -- and most concerning was his lack of involvement as a pass catcher. After tallying at least 70 rushing yards in each of his first three games, Sunday's effort marked his highest total in four contests since.
Oct 16, 2023
Excels as receiver Monday
Pollard rushed 15 times for 30 yards and secured six of seven targets for 80 yards in the Cowboys' 20-17 win over the Chargers on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
As his final line implies, Pollard was stonewalled on the ground, but he salvaged his fantasy night as a receiver with numbers that were all good for second on the night for the Cowboys. The versatile back's receiving yardage total was also a season high, and he'll aim to snap a three-game streak of under 50 rushing yards when the Cowboys return from a Week 7 bye to tangle with the Rams at home on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Oct 13, 2023
Upgrades to full practice
Pollard (shoulder) was a full practice participant Friday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The quick return to full participation after one limited session suggests Pollard should be ready for his usual workload Monday night against the Chargers. Only two teams have allowed more fantasy points per game to RBs, and Pollard has dominated the Dallas backfield work in competitive situations this year.
Oct 12, 2023
Limited to begin Week 6 prep
Pollard was a limited participant in Thursday's practice due to a shoulder injury, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard is making his first appearance of the season on the injury report, but unless the Cowboys reveal that he hurt his shoulder during Thursday's session, his limitations to begin Week 6 prep might have been maintenance-related. In any case, Pollard will have two more opportunities to upgrade to full activity in practice before the Cowboys decide whether to give him a designation heading into Monday's game against the Chargers.
Oct 9, 2023
Stymied in blowout loss
Pollard had eight carries for 29 yards and four receptions (five targets) for 35 yards in Sunday's 42-10 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys fell behind early and were forced into a one-dimensional gameplan, resulting in a season low eight carries for Pollard in the blowout loss. Last week the 26-year-old's touches were limited because the Cowboys were on the other side of a blowout game script, resulting in two pedestrian fantasy scores following a hot start to the season. Pollard will attempt to get back on track as a top fantasy option in a soft matchup against the Chargers next Monday.

Quiet in blowout win
Pollard rushed the ball 11 times for 47 yards in Sunday's 38-3 win over the Patriots. He added three receptions for 13 yards.
ANALYSIS
Most of the Cowboys' top skill-position players had quiet days as the defense scored two of the team's four touchdowns while another came in garbage time with backups on the field. As a result, even given a fairly efficient effort, Pollard's volume and production were limited. Entering Sunday's game, Pollard had either scored multiple touchdowns or topped 100 total yards in all three games this season, so there's little reason for concern moving forward.
Sep 24, 2023
Big yardage in Week 3 loss
Pollard carried the ball 23 times for 122 yards in Sunday's 28-16 loss to the Cardinals. He also caught all three of his targets for minus-1 yard.
ANALYSIS
The running back had his most productive game of the season on the ground, but it was backup Rico Dowdle who scored the Cowboys' only TD of the day. Pollard's numbers were even more impressive considering he was working behind an offensive line missing three starters, including Zack Martin (ankle). Pollard faces a tough test in Week 4 against a Patriots defense that just held Breece Hall and the Jets to 38 total rushing yards.
Sep 17, 2023
Tops 100 scrimmage yards
Pollard carried the ball 25 times for 72 yards and caught seven of eight targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 30-10 win over the Jets, He also ran in a two-point conversion.
ANALYSIS
While he wasn't able to score a TD, something he did twice in Dallas' opener, it was still another very productive afternoon for the team's No. 1 running back. Pollard's workload, even in another blowout victory, is especially encouraging, but the Cowboys again face the prospect of not needing to keep their foot on the gas pedal in the second half during Week 3's road matchup against the 0-2 Cardinals, which could limit his fantasy ceiling.
Sep 11, 2023
Scores twice in blowout victory
Pollard rushed 14 times for 70 yards and two touchdowns while adding two receptions (three targets) for 12 yards in Sunday's 40-0 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was the big producer on offense with two scores for a Dallas team that looked to be miles ahead of its opponent Sunday. The 2022 breakout star dominated the backfield touches as expected, only ceding touches to backups Deuce Vaughn (6-8-0) and Rico Dowdle (6-24-0) in garbage time of this blowout victory. Pollard will face a tougher challenge when Dallas takes on another opponent from New York next week, but the talented back will remain a strong play against the Jets on Sunday.
Sep 8, 2023
Ready for bigger workloads
Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said Pollard is ready to be a No. 1 back and told reporters "there's nothing we will shy away from" when it comes to scheme, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas News reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard made a smooth recovery from January ankle surgery and seems to have had a normal training camp, giving the Cowboys confidence they can get by with only Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn as backups Week 1 at the Giants. Pollard's new role will include some of the snaps Ezekiel Elliott took last year, including pass-blocking reps and at least a portion of the short-yardage carries, though the Cowboys might also use Dowdle or GB Hunter Luepke for some of that stuff to let the speedy Pollard focus more on what he does best. Regardless of the specifics of their respective roles, Pollard should get far more touches with Zeke gone and was typically taken in the second round of fantasy drafts in anticipation of a much large role. The 26-year-old starts his season with a challenge, playing on the road Sunday night against a defensive line that starts Dexter Lawrence, Leonard Williams and A'Shawn Robinson (nearly 1,000 combined pounds).

Coach confident in recovery
Dallas coach Mike McCarthy is pleased with how Pollard (ankle) has looked in training camp so far, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. "He's put his foot in the ground on a number of runs, and I definitely think he's back."
ANALYSIS
The running back underwent a tightrope procedure in January to address the high-ankle sprain he suffered in the Cowboys' divisional-round loss to the 49ers, but Pollard's recovery has gone without a hitch and he remains on track to play Week 1 against the Giants. With Ezekiel Elliott no longer on the roster, Pollard is the unquestioned starter for an offense expected to be one of the more potent units in the league. Heading into his fifth NFL campaign, the Memphis product will be looking to top the 1,007 rushing yards, 1,378 scrimmage yards and 12 total touchdowns on 232 touches -- all career highs -- he accumulated over 16 games in 2022.
Jul 26, 2023
Will ramp up workload
Pollard said Wednesday the plan is for him to be eased into training camp but that he feels "pretty much at 100 percent," Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard has been medically cleared for the start of training camp, but the Cowboys will take a cautious approach to his initial practice workload. The standout RB underwent surgery to address a broken fibula and high-ankle sprain back in January, but it looks like there are no concerns out of Dallas about his availability for Week 1. Pollard looks primed to operate as a focal point of the Cowboys' offense while playing out the 2023 campaign on the franchise tag, but in the early portion of training camp some additional first-team reps could be up for grabs for Malik Davis, Ronald Jones and Deuce Vaughn.
Jul 25, 2023
Cleared for start of camp
Pollard (ankle) is medically cleared for the start of training camp, Patrick Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys were confident enough in Pollard's recovery to give him a $10.1 million franchise tag in early March, less than two months after he'd suffered a broken fibula and high-ankle sprain. The running back signed his tag a couple weeks later and doesn't sound too upset that subsequent negotiations never yielded a long-term contract, essentially betting on himself to rebound from the injury and have another big year. The Cowboys certainly seem to be counting on it given that Ronald Jones is the only veteran RB they've brought in since releasing Ezekiel Elliott, who had 231 carries and 12 TDs last year even as Pollard took on a larger role and made the most of it. The Cowboys hope Pollard can now take on more volume without losing too much off his excellent efficiency stats (career average of 5.1 yards per carry, 8.3 per catch).
Jul 17, 2023
Long-term deal deadline passes
Pollard (ankle) and the Cowboys did not agree on long-term contract prior to Monday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline for franchise-tagged players, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard is thus locked in to play out the 2023 season on the one-year, $10.1 million deal he signed in the form of the franchise tag back in March. By all accounts Pollard is ahead of schedule in his recovery from surgery to address a high-ankle sprain and broken fibula in his left leg, and is expected to be ready for training camp. The 26-year-old is poised to lead Dallas' backfield as the team's clear No. 1 option when back to full health, especially with Ezekiel Elliott having been released earlier this offseason. Pollard was able to compile 1,378 scrimmage yards and 12 total touchdowns in 16 games last season, while averaging 5.2 YPC, and he looks primed for a career-high workload during the 2023 campaign.
Jul 17, 2023
Expected to play on franchise tag
Pollard (ankle) and the Cowboys are not expected to agree to terms on a long-term contract by Monday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline, Jane Slater of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard signed his $10.1 million franchise tag back in March, and Slater reports that he and Dallas haven't since engaged in extensive talks on a long-term deal. The 26-year-old is reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery from ankle surgery and on track for training camp, after having suffered a high-ankle sprain and broken fibula in his left leg back in January. Pollard stands alone atop the Cowboys' depth chart and appears primed to build upon his 1,378 scrimmage yards from 2022 with a career-high workload during the 2023 campaign, after which he will be slated to hit free agency. Malik Davis, Ronald Jones and Deuce Vaughn are behind him in the backfield.
Jun 1, 2023
On track for training camp
Pollard (ankle) said Thursday he's ahead of schedule in his recovery and plans to be ready for the start of training camp, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old was participating in reduced-tempo OTA practices last week and appears to be progressing well in his recovery after he underwent tightrope surgery on a high-ankle sprain and broken fibula in his left leg back in January. According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Pollard also said he's "not really limited at this point," and the tailback is poised to lead Dallas' backfield in 2023 following the release of Ezekiel Elliott, who remains a free agent.
May 25, 2023
Taking part in OTAs
Pollard (ankle) has been participating in reduced-tempo OTA practices, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard signed a franchise tag March 23, two months after having tightrope surgery on a high-ankle sprain in his left leg. He also broke the fibula, but it's still an easier rehab than something like an ACL or Achilles tear. While he may have some limitations as the offseason progresses and practices become more intense, Pollard is well on his way to starting Week 1 in the Dallas backfield.
Mar 23, 2023
Signs franchise tag
Pollard (ankle) signed his franchise tag with the Cowboys on Thursday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard signing his franchise tag sets him up to play out the 2023 season on a one-year, $10.1 million salary, though he and the Cowboys still have until July 17 to negotiate a long-term deal. With Ezekiel Elliott having been released by Dallas, Pollard currently stands as the clear No. 1 running back on the team's depth chart, potentially priming him to build upon the 1,378 scrimmage yards season he logged in 2022. By all accounts, the Cowboys expect Pollard -- who underwent ankle surgery in late January -- to be ready for training camp.
Mar 6, 2023
Officially franchise tagged
The Cowboys placed the franchise tag on Pollard (ankle) on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The transaction sets Pollard up to play out the 2023 campaign on a one-year, $10.1 million dollar contract, though both sides have until July to keep negotiation on a long-term agreement. Pollard being franchise tagged has widely been the expected outcome out of Dallas, and the team could still attempt to work out a restructure with Ezekiel Elliott this offseason. In any case, with Pollard reportedly on track for training camp, he enters his age-26 season in prime position to be a difference-maker for fantasy purposes. He broke out with a career-high 1,378 scrimmage yards and 12 total touchdowns across 16 games while sharing the backfield with Elliot last season.
Feb 28, 2023
Should be ready for training camp
The Cowboys expect Pollard (leg/ankle) to be ready for training camp, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard broke his fibula and suffered a high-ankle sprain during the Cowboys' divisional-round loss to the 49ers and underwent surgery to address the ankle issue. The pending free agent finished the 2022 season with 1,378 scrimmage yards and 12 touchdowns, and based on Machota's report, it sounds like Dallas is expected to retain the star running back, though it's unclear if that'll be through an extension or via the franchise tag. Either way, it's a positive sign to see Pollard still on track with his rehab, and if healthy, he should one of the more sought after running backs in fantasy drafts this summer.
Jan 27, 2023
Big year ahead of free agency
Pollard (ankle) carried the ball 193 times for 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns and caught 39 of 55 targets for 371 yards and an additional three TDs though 16 games in 2022.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year running back put together a career-best campaign, setting new personal bests in rushing yards, receiving yards and TDs while averaging better than 5.0 yards per carry for the third time in his four NFL seasons. Pollard suffered a broken fibula and high-ankle sprain in the Cowboys' divisional-round loss to the 49ers, the latter injury which required surgery, but he's expected to be fully recovered from both by the start of training camp. The biggest question for Pollard will be which team he's in the training camp with; he's an unrestricted free agent this offseason, although Dallas could elect to give him the franchise tag if the team can't work out a new contract with him.
Jan 24, 2023
Surgery completed
Pollard underwent a tightrope procedure Monday to address the left high-ankle sprain he sustained in Sunday's 19-12 loss to the 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard also sustained a broken left fibula Sunday, but Archer notes that the running back didn't need surgery to address that injury, which will be able to heal on its own through rest and recovery. Pollard should be back to full strength well before training camp in late July, as his recovery from the ankle procedure is expected to last around 3-to-4 months. The rough timeline means that Pollard may not be able to participate in OTAs, but the Cowboys' main focus will likely be in ensuring that the running back is under contract by that time. The 25-year-old is ticketed for unrestricted free agency in March, but the Cowboys will have the ability to place their franchise tag on him or sign him to an extension before he reaches the open market.
Jan 22, 2023
Requires surgery
Pollard suffered a fractured left fibula during Sunday's loss to the 49ers and will require surgery, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was carted to the locker room late in the first half of Sunday's divisional-round matchup and will face a lengthy recovery process as the Cowboys head into the offseason. The injury usually requires a recovery timetable of approximately three months, so it's possible he'll be able to participate in portions of the offseason program. The 2019 fourth-rounder was in the final year of his rookie contract in 2022 but is a candidate to receive the franchise tag from the Cowboys, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Jan 22, 2023
Won't return Sunday
Pollard (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against San Francisco, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard sustained a left ankle injury late in the first half of Sunday's matchup, and coach Mike McCarthy said at halftime that the running back will be unavailable for the second half. Prior to his departure, Pollard rushed six times for 22 yards while securing two of three targets for 11 yards. His injury was described as a high-ankle sprain by the Fox broadcast, putting his availability for next weekend's NFC Championship Game against the Eagles in doubt if the Cowboys advance, but more work will be available for Ezekiel Elliott and Malik Davis to close out Sunday's game against San Francisco.
Jan 22, 2023
Carted to locker room
Pollard was carted to the locker room late in the first half of Sunday's divisional-round game against the 49ers due to an apparent left leg injury, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard's left leg was rolled up on in the closing minutes of the second quarter Sunday, and he was helped off the field afterward. After spending some time in the medical tent, he was carted to the locker room with seconds remaining before halftime. If Pollard is unable to return for the second half, Ezekiel Elliott will be in line to operate as the Cowboys' clear lead running back, while Malik Davis could also see some work as a secondary option.
Jan 17, 2023
Efficient effort in wild-card win
Pollard rushed 15 times for 77 yards and secured all three targets for 12 yards in the Cowboys' 31-14 wild-card win over the Buccaneers on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was able to put together a trademark performance, parlaying a relatively modest amount of touches into an efficient night that saw him lead the Cowboys' backfield in yardage by a wide margin. However, Ezekiel Elliott logged just two fewer carries, and both players naturally project to continue playing key roles in Sunday's divisional-round road matchup against an elite 49ers defense.
Jan 8, 2023
Nearly invisible in loss
Pollard carried the ball seven times for 19 yards and failed to catch his only target in Sunday's 26-6 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys' offense completely failed to show up in the regular-season finale, and Pollard's meager rushing yard total actually tied Malik Davis for the team lead. Pollard finishes the regular season with a career-high 1,378 scrimmaging yards and 12 total TDs, and with Dak Prescott still struggling with interceptions, Dallas could lean heavily on their running game in the wild-card round against Tampa Bay.
Jan 4, 2023
Back to full participation
Pollard (thigh) practiced in full Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was held out of practice before sitting out last Thursday's game at Tennessee as he dealt with a thigh injury. With his return to all activity in the first session of Week 18 prep, the fourth-year pro is past the health concern as the Cowboys turn their focus toward Sunday's matchup with the Commanders. With the NFC East title and No. 1 seed in the NFC still in the line, Dallas likely will roll with all its regulars this weekend, and if so Pollard would be poised for his roughly 15 touches per game.
Jan 2, 2023
Will practice Wednesday, per HC
Head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Pollard (thigh) will practice Wednesday, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was sidelined for last Thursday's win over Tennessee, but it appears he's trending in the right direction ahead of Week 18 prep. Fantasy managers will likely have to monitor Pollard's participation in practice this week closely, but a decision on the running back's availability against Washington may not come until Sunday.
Dec 29, 2022
Officially out Thursday
Pollard (thigh) is listed as inactive Thursday at Tennessee, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
With a short week to prepare between last Saturday's win against the Eagles and Thursday's game, Pollard's inability to practice Monday through Wednesday put him behind the eight ball to be available for Week 17. He began trending toward his first absence of the season after Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported earlier Thursday that the Cowboys were likely to hold out the fourth-year pro, and indeed that has come to pass. As a result, Ezekiel Elliott is in line to handle a healthy share of Dallas' backfield reps, while Malik Davis and potentially practice-squad call-up Qadree Ollison will spell Elliott, especially if the game gets out of hand against a reeling and short-handed Titans squad. Pollard will turn his focus to getting healthier for a Week 18 road matchup with the Commanders.
Dec 29, 2022
In line to sit out Thursday
Pollard (thigh) remains listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Titans, but the Cowboys plan to make him inactive for the Week 17 contest, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported earlier Thursday that Pollard could be an option to play against the Titans if he fared better than anticipated in a pregame workout, but the Cowboys have apparently already decided to err on the side of caution and will ultimately hold the running back out for the first time this season. He won't be officially ruled out for the contest until the Cowboys release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, but Pollard's anticipated absence leaves Ezekiel Elliott as the clear-cut top option out of the backfield. Given that the Cowboys are heavy road favorites for a game in which the Titans are resting or holding out several key players due to injury, it's possible that Elliott ends up seeing a lighter workload in his own right if Dallas turns the game into a blowout by halftime or the third quarter. In that scenario, No. 2 back Malik Davis would be in store for a pronounced role behind Elliott.
Dec 29, 2022
Looks like game-time decision
Pollard (thigh), who is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Titans, will have to prove his health in pre-game workouts to avoid being inactive, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard's status may thus not be made official until Dallas' inactives are released prior to Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, presenting a difficult situation for fantasy managers. Team owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that Pollard "looks good for the game," but the explosive running back wasn't able to practice in any capacity Monday through Wednesday due to a thigh issue. If Pollard ultimately can't go Thursday, Ezekiel Elliott could be in line for an increased role atop the Cowboys' backfield depth chart, with Malik Davis mixing in behind him.
Dec 28, 2022
Status in question for Thursday
Pollard (thigh) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game at Tennessee, Jane Slater of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite being listed as a non-participant on practice reports Monday through Wednesday due to a thigh issue, Pollard does have some positivity surrounding his status for Week 17 action. On Tuesday, Jerry Jones relayed that Pollard "looks good for the game (Thursday)," and the team is "counting on him playing," according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. Ultimately, the Cowboys' list of inactives will become known about 90 minutes before Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, at which point Pollard's availability, or lack thereof, will be confirmed. If he's able to gut through the injury, he again will serve in a timeshare with Ezekiel Elliott out of Dallas' backfield.
Dec 27, 2022
Sits out another practice
Pollard (thigh) was a non-participant in Tuesday's practice, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Gehlken, head coach Mike McCarthy said prior to Tuesday's practice that Pollard would be included in what was expected to be a light workout, but the running back wasn't spotted during the open portion of the session and apparently didn't fit in any work behind the scenes either. With two straight listings as a non-participant on the Cowboys' first two Week 17 practice reports, Pollard may need to advance to limited activity Wednesday to keep himself in the mix for playing Thursday against the Titans. If Pollard misses the contest or is available only in a limited capacity, Ezekiel Elliott could be in store for a heightened role in the Dallas backfield.
Dec 27, 2022
Could play Thursday
Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that Pollard (thigh) "looks good for the game" against the Titans on Thursday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report due to a thigh issue, but Jones said "we're counting on him playing." Those comments offer optimism that Pollard's lack of activity Monday may have been related to rest or maintenance, rather than an injury sustained during Sunday's 40-34 win over the Eagles, a game in which Pollard carried the ball nine times for 19 yards and secured six of eight targets for 61 yards. Tuesday's practice report will provide a further update on Pollard's health.
Dec 26, 2022
Listed as DNP on practice estimate
Pollard (thigh) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard's appearance on the Cowboys' initial injury report this week makes his status worth tracking ahead of Thursday's night's game against the Titans. That said, per the Cowboys' official site, coach Mike McCarthy noted Monday that the team didn't suffer additional injuries of any significance during Saturday's win over the Eagles, which suggests that Pollard's 'DNP' listing could potentially be maintenance or rest related.
Dec 24, 2022
Busy day through air Saturday
Pollard rushed nine times for 19 yards and secured six of eight targets for 61 yards in the Cowboys' 40-34 win over the Eagles on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Pollard made up for his ragged day on the ground with a productive effort through the air, checking in second in receptions, receiving yards and targets. Pollard's reception total tied his season high and his yardage tally served as his second highest of the campaign. The versatile back served as a clear complementary option to Ezekiel Elliott, who recorded 16 carries, but it remains to be seen if the same arrangement will hold in a Week 17 road matchup against the Titans on Thursday night.
Dec 18, 2022
Tops 100 total yards
Pollard rushed the ball 19 times for 75 yards in Sunday's 40-34 loss to the Jaguars. He added four receptions on five targets for 31 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard paced the Dallas backfield in carries, total touches and yards. He turned in an uncharacteristically inefficient performance, as he managed only three total touches that went for double-digit gains. Even so, Pollard has topped 100 total yards in four of his last six games, while also finding the end zone seven times in that span.
Dec 11, 2022
Two scores against Houston
Pollard rushed the ball 10 times for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-23 win over the Texans. He added four receptions on five targets for 20 yards and an additional score.
ANALYSIS
Pollard didn't show his typical hyper-efficient ways -- at least in terms of big plays -- but he still found the end zone twice. His first score came on an 11-yard rush around the right end early in the opening quarter. Next, he took a swing pass out of the backfield for a 10-yard receiving score to put the Cowboys up 14-10. The team continues to limit Pollard's touches in a shared backfield with Ezekiel Elliott, but Pollard has scored six touchdowns across his last four games.
Dec 5, 2022
Stellar season continues
Pollard rushed 12 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns while catching two of three targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 54-19 win over Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Dallas' rushing attack did the heavy lifting in this blowout win, producing two strong fantasy lines from Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott (17/71/1). The more-explosive of the duo finished with the finer performance this week, bumping his yards per carry average up to 5.8 in the process. Pollard has now combined for 1,111 scrimmage yards and 10 total touchdowns through 12 games, rewarding those that believed in the preseason hype surrounding the fourth-year back. The lowly Texans are on tap for the Cowboys on Sunday, putting Pollard in a prime position to produce another monster fantasy game.
Nov 24, 2022
Takes back seat to Zeke in win
Pollard carried the ball 18 times for 60 yards and caught both his targets for only one yard in Thursday's 28-20 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
For the first time since Week 6, Pollard saw Ezekiel Elliott gain more yards than him, but the duo were still both productive in the comeback victory. Pollard still saw his streak of games with 100-plus scrimmage yards end at four, but he remains a big-play threat every time he touches the ball. He'll look to bounce back in a Week 13 clash with the Colts.
Nov 20, 2022
Remains dominant in split role
Pollard rushed 15 times for 80 yards and caught all six of his targets for 109 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 40-3 win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Ezekiel Elliott (knee) returned from a two-game absence and split carries evenly with Pollard. The latter was expected to remain heavily involved offensively after dominating in the veteran starter's absence, and the team stayed true to its word leading up to this decisive victory. The lone blemish on this standout performance was Pollard's inability to punch in two attempts from the goal line, leading to Elliott relieving him and finishing the job. That scenario highlights the difference in the two back's playstyles, justifying even split in usage despite Pollard's superior rushing efficiency this season. The 25-year-old will look to stay white hot heading into a matchup against the Giants on Thanksgiving.
Nov 20, 2022
Likely to be lead runner again
Pollard is expected to get the bigger share of the touches in the Cowboys backfield Sunday at Minnesota, even with Ezekiel Elliott (knee) returning from a two-game absence, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard paced Dallas' ground game in place of Elliott during that span, racking up 40 touches for 275 yards from scrimmage and four rushing TDs. When Elliott was active for the first seven contests of the season, Pollard averaged a shade over 10 touches per game, but the team is slated to ease the former back into the lineup, meaning the latter is poised for another outing as the Cowboys' lead runner.
Nov 13, 2022
Thriving in lead role
Pollard rushed 22 times for 115 yards and a touchdown while catching three of six targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 31-28 overtime loss to Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Pollard served as the Cowboys' lead back in place of Ezekiel Elliott (knee) for the second week in a row, and he looked the part with another 100-plus yard rushing game. The 25-year-old wasn't able to replicate last week's three-score game, but he did make one trip to the end zone to bring his season total up to six. Elliott was listed as questionable for this game, so the veteran could return soon and cut into Pollard's recent surge in usage. Starting or not, Pollard presents enough upside as a home-run threat to warrant starting against the Vikings next Sunday.
Nov 13, 2022
Serving as lead back again Sunday
Pollard will once again serve as the Cowboys' No. 1 running back in Sunday's Week 10 clash against the Packers with Ezekiel Elliott (knee) declared inactive for the contest, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard parlayed such an opportunity into 131 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries against the Bears in Week 8, and he'll have the added benefit Sunday of coming into his second straight assignment as the lead back well-rested off the Week 9 bye. The matchup against the Packers defense shapes up about as appealing as that against Chicago, as Green Bay has surrendered an NFC-high 175.3 rushing yards per home game.
Nov 13, 2022
Likely to retain No. 1 role Week 10
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy suggested Pollard will likely remain the team's top running back Sunday against the Packers with Ezekiel Elliott (knee) listed as questionable but seemingly not expected to play, Ed Werder of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Though both team owner Jerry Jones and Pollard indicated earlier in the week that they anticipated Elliott returning from a one-game absence Sunday, the news pertaining to Elliott's status has become more negative in recent days. Even if Elliott is cleared to return from his hyperextended knee, he may have a smaller role than usual Sunday, which seemingly sets up Pollard to retain the high-volume role he enjoyed in a Week 8 win over the Bears. In that 49-29 victory, Pollard carried 14 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns while turning his lone target into a 16-yard reception.
Nov 11, 2022
Could share work with Elliott
Pollard could move back into a timeshare in the backfield for Sunday's game against the Packers with Ezekiel Elliott (knee) listed as questionable but seemingly on track to be available in some capacity, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
More clarification on Elliott's role might not be known until further reports trickle in over the weekend and when the Cowboys release their inactive list 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, but if he returns from a one-game absence, Pollard would likely see at least a slight role reduction. Before the Cowboys' Week 9 bye, Elliott's hyperextended right knee kept him out of action in a Week 8 game against the Bears, allowing Pollard to pick up the start. Though he was on the field for just 53 percent of the snaps on offense due in some part to the blowout nature of the game, Pollard logged a season-high 14 carries in the 49-29 win and finished with 131 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Even if the matchup with Green Bay proves more competitive and if Elliott is brought back in a limited capacity, the Cowboys likely won't ask Pollard to handle much larger of a role than he held Week 8. According to Gehlken, running backs coach Skip Peete said as recently as a week ago that the Cowboys prefe

Pollard rushed the ball 14 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 49-29 win over the Bears. He added one reception for 16 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard got the opportunity to serve as the Cowboys' lead back with Ezekiel Elliott (knee) sidelined, and he took full advantage. His three scores came from 18, seven and 54 yards, and he also added an explosive play as a pass catcher. While Pollard won't continue to see heavy usage as consistently once Elliott is able to return, he does have double-digit carries in three consecutive games. Even while sharing the backfield, Pollard has topped 80 rushing yards in four of eight contests on the campaign.

Lead-back role awaits
Pollard is in line to handle a featured role out of the Dallas backfield in Sunday's game against Chicago with Ezekiel Elliott (knee/thigh) inactive for the contest, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Dallas moved up running backs Malik Davis and Qadree Ollison from the practice squad Saturday, but neither is a sure bet to poach a significant amount of snaps or touches from Pollard, who could be in store for one of the largest workloads of his career while Elliott sits out for the first time since Week 15 of the 2020 season. The Cowboys are on bye Week 9 before returning to action in Green Bay on Nov. 13, at which point Elliott may have made enough progress in his recovery from a Grade 2 right MCL sprain and a thigh bruise to re-enter the lineup. With that in mind, Pollard may be in store for only one game as the Cowboys' unquestioned lead back, but he'll at least make for a strong option in fantasy lineups this week.
Oct 28, 2022
Likely starting with Zeke injured
Pollard is expected to start Sunday against the Bears in place of Ezekiel Elliott (knee), Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys are sending signals they plan to hold Elliott out until after their Week 9 bye, leaving practice-squad players Malik Davis and Qadree Ollison as the likely options behind Pollard, who had 132 total yards and two touchdowns the only other time Elliott missed a game the past four years (Week 15 of 2020). It's a good opportunity for Pollard to see much more than his usual 11.1 touches per game, with the Cowboys playing at home against a sub-.500 team on short rest.
Oct 23, 2022
Efficient with 14 touches
Pollard rushed 12 times for 83 yards and secured both targets for 26 yards in the Cowboys' 24-6 win over the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was three carries behind backfield mate Ezekiel Elliott, but he outgained him by 26 yards. The fourth-year back's 6.9 yards per carry was especially impressive, and he's now eclipsed the 80-yard mark on the ground in two of his last three games. His next opportunity to continue churning out impressive numbers comes in a favorable Week 8 home matchup against the Bears' suspect run defense.
Oct 17, 2022
Modest output on 13 touches
Pollard rushed 11 times for 44 yards and caught two of three targets for eight yards in Sunday's 26-17 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Pollard tied his season high in touches with 13, but he was bottled up outside of an isolated 15-yard rush. Veteran counterpart Ezekiel Elliott looked like the more-explosive back in a tough matchup against Philly's defense, which doesn't line up with the trends we saw from both players through Dallas' previous five contests. The good news for Pollard's fantasy managers is that the Lions and their 32nd-ranked rush defense are on tap next Sunday.
Oct 9, 2022
Another long TD in Sunday's win
Pollard carried the ball eight times for 86 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-10 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
His incredible 57-yard TD run in the second quarter, in which Pollard broke multiple tackles, gave the Cowboys a lead they wouldn't relinquish. The fourth-yard back continues to be the more dangerous option in the Dallas backfield, but Ezekiel Elliott is still the one seeing more touches heading into a Week 6 clash with Philadelphia.
Oct 9, 2022
Playing Sunday
Pollard (illness) is active for Sunday's contest at the Rams, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
An illness kept Pollard off the practice field Friday, but he was able to travel with the team to L.A. and now has been cleared for Week 5 action. He'll continue to work in a complementary role alongside Ezekiel Elliott, which has featured two outings with at least 90 yards from scrimmage and two others with fewer than 25 total yards this season.
Oct 9, 2022
Likely available for Week 5
Pollard (illness), who's listed as questionable, is expected to play Sunday against the Rams, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard missed Friday's practice due to an illness, but he traveled with the team Saturday and is in line to play Sunday. However, fantasy managers are still encouraged to confirm Pollard's status ahead of Sunday's 4:25 PM ET kickoff before locking him into lineups.
Oct 8, 2022
Traveling with team
Pollard (illness) will travel with the team ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
This is positive news considering Pollard missed Friday's practice with an illness. It's also encouraging the Cowboys didn't call up a running back from the practice squad. Expect more news regarding the veteran's status to emerge throughout the weekend ahead of the team's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday.
Oct 7, 2022
Questionable due to illness
Pollard missed Friday's practice due to an illness and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Patrick Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The end-of-week addition to the injury report could set up a game-time decision ahead of the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday, though Pollard shouldn't be in danger of missing more than the one game because of an illness. If he isn't available, Ezekiel Elliott likely would handle more than his usual 60-65 percent of snaps, with Rico Dowdle providing support off the bench.
Oct 2, 2022
Struggles from scrimmage
Pollard ran for six yards on eight carries against Washington on Sunday and caught one pass for two yards on three targets.
ANALYSIS
The Washington defense prioritized shutting down the Dallas ground game in this one, so Pollard and to a lesser extent Ezekiel Elliott (49 yards on 19 carries) struggled to get any traction with their touches Sunday. A Week 5 matchup against the Rams isn't an obvious source of encouragement for Pollard as he looks to bounce back, but this box score should prove an anomaly going forward.
Sep 27, 2022
Makes most of 13 carries
Pollard rushed the ball 13 times for 105 yards in Monday's 23-16 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Pollard accounted for the Cowboys' longest play from scrimmage with a 46-yard rush early in the second quarter. Though Ezekiel Elliott led the backfield with 16 total opportunities, Pollard picked up his highest number of rushes in a game this season and appears to be closing the gap in role to Elliott. After a quiet performance in Week 1, Pollard has recorded 203 total yards across his last two games.
Sep 18, 2022
Gets into end zone in win
Pollard carried the ball nine times for 43 yards and a touchdown and caught four of seven targets for 55 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year back led Dallas in scrimmage yards on the day, with 48 of his yards coming on consecutive plays late in the first quarter that resulted in Pollard getting into the end zone and giving the Cowboys a 14-3 lead. He appeared to be a more explosive runner than Ezekiel Elliott, something that's been a common refrain the last two seasons, but both backs could be productive in Week 3 against a Giants defense that just got gashed for 128 scrimmage yards and a 6.8 YPC by Christian McCaffrey.
Sep 12, 2022
Fails to deliver on hype
Pollard rushed six times for eight yards and caught both of his targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 19-3 loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was bottled up by Tampa Bay's ferocious defensive front, as was nearly every offensive player for the Cowboys on the debut of Sunday Night Football. A trendy upside pick in draft circles this year, the explosive back fell flat and was outshined by the, supposedly, declining Ezekiel Elliott. Pollard even looked like the inferior pass blocker, which is something that will hold him back from being a true lead back, unless it is addressed. For now, it appears to still be the veteran's show in Dallas, but Pollard will certainly put together better performances than what we saw in Week 1. The Cowboys will be forced to rely on its rushing attack while Dak Prescott (thumb) recovers from surgery, so we could see a big uptick in both back's touches against the Bengals next Sunday.
Aug 26, 2022
Set for role in slot
Pollard is expected to see work in the slot this season in addition to his snaps out of the backfield, Todd Archer of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
To this point in his NFL career, Pollard has been exclusively as a running back, but he mostly lined up as a wide receiver for Memphis prior to being taken in the fourth round of the 2019 draft. "There is a ton of it on film. A lot of it is coming back to him," Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore said this week. "He's not going to run [just] the running back route tree, the quick game and just kind of the completion plays. He can stretch people vertically, and I think that will be a huge advantage for him to put people in conflict of how they want to handle him." Neither Pollard nor Ezekiel Elliott will take part in any preseason games, so it won't become clear until Week 1 just how Moore plans to deploy them both, but with CeeDee Lamb (foot) as the only wideout with any real experience likely to be in the lineup to begin the year, there should be an opportunity for Pollard to see more than just token snaps as a receiver.
Aug 4, 2022
Might get real look as receiver
Pollard could be used as more than just a receiving option out of the backfield, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official website reports. "He's not going to run just the RB route tree. He can go vertically and put defenders in tough spots as to how they wanna cover him," offensive coordinator Kellen Moore said Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The fact that Moore suggested Pollard would be used "vertically" is a strong sign he'll be running something more than typical RB routes. Dallas' wide receiver depth will be tested early in the season with Michael Gallup (knee) and James Washington (foot) both sidelined, but signs continue to build that Pollard will be one of the players relied upon to take on some of those targets. The 25-year-old set career highs with 39 catches on 46 targets for 337 receiving yards last season, but he could blow those numbers out of the water if he sees consistent snaps in the slot and split out wide.
Jul 30, 2022
Will remain No. 2 back
Pollard may see more snaps and touches in 2022, but Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones indicated Saturday they won't come at the expense of Ezekiel Elliott, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. "[Zeke] has to be the focal point," Jones said. "There is room for Pollard while Zeke is in there."
ANALYSIS
The implication here is that Dallas will use more two-back sets, particularly on passing downs when Pollard can line up in the slot while Elliott handles pass protection duties. Based on their production over the last three seasons, there's an argument to be made that Pollard should be cutting into Elliott's workload, but the latter did play through a knee injury last year that may have hampered his efficiency, and he has one season remaining on his current contract before the Cowboys could realistically part ways with him. While Pollard's career-high 719 rushing yards and 5.5 yards per carry in 2021 were impressive, any further gains on his part this year may have to come as a receiver.
Jul 29, 2022
Expects more snaps
Pollard has been taking snaps in the slot at training camp and says he anticipates more playing time this year, The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Dual-halfback formations tend to be more summer talking points than fall reality, but it makes sense for a Dallas team with shaky depth at wide receiver and tight end. The Cowboys traded Amari Cooper in the offseason and expect Michael Gallup (ACL) to miss time in September, leaving James Washington and rookies Jalen Tolbert and Jake Ferguson among the favorites to pick up snaps. Given that context, formations with both Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott on the field sound better, especially compared to last season when it often would've mean taking a healthy Gallup off the field. It's also possible Pollard subs in for Elliott more often as the lone back, though Elliott says he feels better this year after playing through a PCL injury last season.
Jul 5, 2022
Ready for versatile role
Pollard is getting ready to handle snaps in whatever role the Cowboys want him to fill, Coral Smith of NFL.com reports. "I'm open to anything just being on the field, being able to make the most of my opportunities," Pollard said after last month's OTAs. "If I have to line up in the slot a little more, whatever it takes, I'm ready to do it."
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old produced a career-high 1,545 all-purpose yards last season as a runner, pass catcher and kickoff returner, but Pollard is preparing to take on even more responsibility as a receiver in 2022. "It just makes things a little easier, being out wide, catching the ball, not having to worry about the first line of defense, then the linebackers, then the safeties. Once you're out wide you really just have one guy to beat, and then it's off to the races from there," Pollard said. "I definitely feel like any opportunity I'm given, I'm going to do my best to make the most of it. The more I get, the more I can benefit the team." Even if Ezekiel Elliott stays healthy this season, there could be more touches available for Pollard as he helps round out a depleted receiving corps that lost Amari Cooper in the offseason and will likely be without Michael Gallup (knee) for the early part of the schedule.
Jan 16, 2022
Six touches in wild-card loss
Pollard carried the ball four times for 14 yards and caught both his targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 23-17 loss to the 49ers in the wild-card round.
ANALYSIS
The running back didn't see much action on offense, and Pollard's biggest contribution came on kickoffs as he gained 50 yards on two returns. The third-year Memphis product put together his best season yet in the NFL, racking up 1,056 scrimmage yards and two rushing touchdowns over 15 games while working behind Ezekiel Elliott in the Dallas backfield. Pollard's 5.5 yards per carry put Elliott's 4.2 mark to shame, but with the starter still carrying a dead cap hit of over $30 million on his contract in 2022, Pollard's role doesn't seem likely to increase next year unless Zeke suffers a significant injury.
Jan 12, 2022
Puts in full practice Wednesday
Pollard (foot) practiced in full Wednesday, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was held out of the Cowboys' Week 18 win at Philadelphia due to the torn fascia in his left foot that he's been playing through since Week 13. While he missed Week 14 as a result, he played in the ensuing three contests, turning 31 touches into 195 yards from scrimmage and no TDs. During that same three-game stretch, Ezekiel Elliott notched 39 touches for 144 total yards and three total scores. With Dallas' top two running backs all good on the health front, the backfield is ready to go ahead of Sunday's wild-card matchup with the 49ers.
Jan 11, 2022
On pace to practice Wednesday
Coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that he thinks Pollard (foot) will practice Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys left Pollard behind in Dallas for a Week 18 visit to Philadelphia, a decision that McCarthy described as the team "just being smart with him." With the Eagles sitting key members on both sides of the ball this past Saturday, the Dallas offense had no problem putting up yards and points on its way to a 51-26 victory. No. 1 running back Ezekiel Elliott did just enough to squeak out 1,000 rushing yards (1.002, to be exact) for the fourth time in six campaigns, but a rested and healthy Pollard would get the team's backfield back to 100 percent. Pollard's activity level at Wednesday's session will be telling for that to come to pass ahead of Sunday's wild-card matchup with the 49ers.
Jan 7, 2022
Downgraded to out
Pollard (foot) will not play Saturday against the Eagles, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was downgraded from 'questionable' to 'out' and won't travel with his teammates to Philadelphia. This isn't necessarily indicative of a setback, with the Cowboys perhaps just being cautious given that there isn't a ton on the line this weekend but will be shortly thereafter. Pollard's absence leaves Corey Clement to handle backfield snaps behind Ezekiel Elliott, who won't necessarily take on his usual workload (the Cowboys haven't commented on expectations there).
Jan 6, 2022
Questionable for Saturday
Pollard (foot) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game at Philadelphia, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys continue to manage the torn fascia in Pollard's left foot that he suffered during a 58-yard touchdown run in a Week 13 win at New Orleans, capping his reps during all three Week 18 practices. This marks the first time he's been listed with a designation since Week 15 at the Giants, but he proceeded to suit up in that game and rack up his fourth-most yards from scrimmage (87) on the season. Pollard's status will be cleared up, on way or another, by the time Dallas posts its inactive list about 90 minutes before Saturday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Jan 5, 2022
Another limited showing
Pollard (foot) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard again is dealing with the torn fascia in his left foot that he suffered during a Week 13 win at New Orleans. While he was sidelined Week 14 in Washington, he's played in each of the Cowboys' ensuing three contests, turning 31 touches into 195 yards from scrimmage. Pollard has put together back-to-back limited listings on Dallas' first two Week 18 practice reports, leaving Thursday as his last chance to head into Saturday's game at Philadelphia without an injury designation.
Jan 4, 2022
Limited by lingering foot injury
The Cowboys listed Pollard (foot) as a limited participant for Tuesday's walk-through practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
As the Cowboys began preparing for Saturday's regular-season finale with the Eagles, Pollard was likely just getting some extra maintenance for the left foot injury he sustained on a 58-yard touchdown run against the Saints back in Week 13. He proceeded to sit out the Cowboys' Week 14 win over Washington, but Pollard has been back in the lineup for the past three games and has taken on a role similar to the one he held pre-injury. Since his Week 15 return, Pollard is averaging 10.3 touches and 65.0 yards from scrimmage, though he has yet to find the end zone in any of those three games.
Jan 3, 2022
Six touches in loss
Pollard carried the ball three times for nine yards and caught three of five targets for 49 yards in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys' ground game couldn't get going at all, with Dak Prescott ending up leading the team in rushing yards, but Pollard was able to find some success through the air. He's delivered at least 50 scrimmage yards in seven straight games, catching multiple passes in each, but has only found the end zone once during that stretch. He'll look to finish the regular season on a high note in Week 18 against the Eagles, but with the Cowboys having little to play for, Pollard could be among the players who get extra rest ahead of the playoffs.
Dec 27, 2021
Combines for 50 yards on SNF
Pollard rushed eight times for 34 yards and caught two of three targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 56-14 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Pollard split touches with Ezekiel Elliott as expected, but neither player registered double-digit carries after Dallas practically locked up the victory at halftime. The latter was the beneficiary of two trips to the end zone, giving Elliott the superior fantasy game. The good news for Pollard's managers was that the touches remained fairly even, keeping the home-run hitting tailback in startable range heading into an important matchup against the Cardinals next Sunday.
Dec 24, 2021
Set to play in Week 16
Pollard (foot) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's contest against Washington, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Week 14 in Washington due to a torn fascia in his left foot, Pollard returned to his typical workload this past Sunday against the Giants, turning 41 percent of snaps into 15 touches for 87 yards from scrimmage. While he'll be working behind Ezekiel Elliott (knee) again this weekend, Pollard should be in line for something similar to the 11.8 touches per game he's earned through 13 appearances this season.
Dec 23, 2021
Limited again Thursday
Pollard (foot) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard maintained his activity level from Wednesday's session as he continues to work his way through a torn plantar fascia in his left foot. He was able to play through the injury this past Sunday against the Giants on his way to 15 touches for 87 yards from scrimmage. Friday's practice report could provide some clarity on Pollard's availability heading into the weekend.
Dec 22, 2021
Logs limited practice Wednesday
Pollard (foot) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Matthew Paras of The Washington Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was spotted doing his usual resistance training at the beginning of the session, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. Despite working through a torn plantar fascia in his left foot, Pollard churned out 74 yards on 12 carries and caught all three targets for 13 yards this past Sunday versus the Giants. Assuming he gets through Week 16 prep and is able to play Sunday against Washington, Pollard should take on a similar workload behind starting running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee).
Dec 19, 2021
Impressive with normal workload
Pollard (foot) rushed 12 times for 74 yards and brought in all three targets for 13 yards in the Cowboys' 21-6 win over the Giants on Sunday. He also fumbled once but recovered.
ANALYSIS
The talk coming in was that the Cowboys would manage Pollard's workload carefully in his return from a one-game absence, but the 24-year-old's 15 touches were actually his fourth-highest tally of the season. Pollard looked explosive and unencumbered by the previously troublesome foot while accruing a team-high amount of rushing yards. He should be ready to operate in his usual role again versus Washington in Week 16.
Dec 19, 2021
Suiting up, may be limited Week 15
Pollard (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Giants, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Pollard will make his return to action following a one-game absence due to a torn plantar fascia of his left foot, the third-year back is expected to play "a couple dozen snaps" as the Cowboys look to ease him back into action, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. With that in mind, starter Ezekiel Elliott projects to start and lead the position group in both snaps and touches, and third-stringer Corey Clement is expected to have a small role in the game plan behind Elliott and Pollard. The likelihood of Dallas limiting Pollard's workload makes him a less appealing option in fantasy lineups than usual coming off the injury.
Dec 18, 2021
Expected to play Sunday
Pollard (foot) is expected to play Sunday against the Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard returned to practice in a limited capacity Thursday and Friday, and it appears as though he'll be able to suit up following his one-game absence due to a plantar fascia tear. However, the Cowboys could use a cautious approach in an attempt to prevent him from aggravating the injury.
Dec 17, 2021
Questionable, likely GTD
Pollard (foot) was a limited practice participant Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Pollard missed practice all of last week and again this Wednesday before returning for limited sessions Thursday and Friday. He said Friday that he anticipates being a game-time decision ahead of the 1:00 ET kickoff Sunday, with his painful plantar fascia tear feeling better in recent days. If Pollard can't go, Corey Clement will step up as the No. 2 back behind Ezekiel Elliott again.
Dec 16, 2021
Limited in return to practice
Pollard (foot) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was unable to mix into drills to begin Week 15 prep, but he ended up taking part in individual drills during the open portion of Thursday's session, per Todd Archer of ESPN.com. The result was a limited listing, which followed coach Mike McCarthy telling Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News that the torn plantar fascia in Pollard's left foot is "getting better." Pollard is aiming to miss just one game as a result of the injury, but he still seems poised to enter the weekend with a designation for Sunday's road contest against the Giants.
Dec 16, 2021
Spotted at practice Thursday
Pollard (foot) was present for Thursday's practice, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Todd Archer of ESPN.com, Pollard went through some individual drills during the media-access portion of the session, which is a step in the right direction for the running back as Sunday's game against the Giants approaches. Thursday's injury report will add clarity with regard to Pollard's official level of participation in the practice.
Dec 15, 2021
DNP after all Wednesday
Pollard (foot) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to the session, coach Mike McCarthy told Helman that he expected Pollard to be limited. According to Todd Archer of ESPN.com, Pollard managed his typical resistance work on the side, but in the end it didn't translate to any practice reps. McCarthy also relayed that the Cowboys are "feeling a lot better" about Pollard's odds to suit up this Sunday against the Giants than they were before he eventually was ruled for their Week 14 game at Washington, per Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News. Pollard is attempting to miss just one contest as a result of a torn plantar fascia in his left foot.
Dec 15, 2021
Limited practice on tap
Coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that he expects Pollard (foot) to practice in a limited capacity, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard will return to practice for the first time since tearing the plantar fascia of his left foot versus the Saints on Dec. 2, though as Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports, Wednesday will be a "lighter" session. The move is nonetheless a significant step in the right direction, and if Pollard can continue to handle practice reps this week he could have a chance at retaking the field for Sunday's divisional road matchup against the Giants.
Dec 12, 2021
Not suiting up Sunday
Pollard (foot) is inactive for Sunday's game against Washington, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard, who was viewed as a game-time decision after failing to practice in any capacity Wednesday through Friday, will be sidelined for the first time in 2021. The second-year back revealed that he tore the plantar fascia in his left foot during the Cowboys' Week 13 win over the Saints, but the team is hopeful that by holding Pollard out of Sunday's contest, he'll be healthy enough to return to the lineup as soon as Week 15 against the Giants. With Pollard out of the mix for Week 14, the Cowboys could rely more heavily on lead back Ezekiel Elliott, whose workload the team has deliberately been managing due to a knee issue that dates back to Week 4. If the Cowboys want to maintain the status quo and keep Elliott's reps in check, depth options Corey Clement and JaQuan Hardy could have roles in the game plan. Dallas could also rely more heavily on the Dak Prescott-led passing attack rather than the ground game sans Pollard.
Dec 12, 2021
Not expected to play Sunday
Pollard (foot) is not expected to play in Sunday's contest against Washington, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Official confirmation of his status will arrive approximately 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff, but with Pollard not expected to suit up, Dallas' Week 14 ground game is on track be headed by Ezekiel Elliott, with Corey Clement a candidate to mix in.
Dec 12, 2021
Game-day call for Week 14
Pollard (foot) is a game-time decision for Sunday's contest against Washington,Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapoport notes that Pollard, who didn't practice this past week after tearing the plantar fascia of his left foot in last Thursday's win over the Saints, has a chance to play, but added "there isn't a lot of optimism for it." A final decision on the running back's Week 14 status will thus arrive approximately 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff.
Dec 10, 2021
Questionable for Sunday
Pollard (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard missed practice Wednesday through Friday, after tearing the plantar fascia of his left foot in last Thursday's win over the Saints. Both Pollard and coach Mike McCarthy have suggested the running back will be a game-time decision ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, with Corey Clement likely in line to handle the No. 2 RB role if Pollard is inactive. The Cowboys may also consider other options, including reducing Pollard's workload on special teams (he returns kicks) but not offense. It'll be tough to know for sure beforehand, making him a risky Week 14 start even if he's active, while teammate Ezekiel Elliott (knee) gets a modest boost.
Dec 9, 2021
Could be headed for game-time call
Pollard believes he'll be a game-time decision for Sunday's contest in Washington after tearing the plantar fascia of his left foot in the Cowboys' Week 13 win over the Saints, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard wasn't known to be dealing with an injury until he was listed on a non-participant Wednesday on the Cowboys' initial Week 14 practice report. More information about his injury was provided Thursday, with head coach Mike McCarthy telling Gehlken that Pollard sprained his foot on a 58-yard touchdown run against New Orleans. Pollard confirmed he was hurt on the same play, though he classified the foot injury differently than McCarthy and was non-committal about suiting up Sunday. Gehlken notes that despite the injury, Pollard was spotted rehabbing on a side field Thursday while donning full pads, but it's unclear if he was able to upgrade to limited participation in the closed portion of the practice. Later Thursday, the Cowboys will release their second report of the week, which will clarify whether Pollard took a step forward in activity from Wednesday.
Dec 8, 2021
Doesn't practice due to foot issue
Pollard didn't practice Wednesday due to a foot injury, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
At the media-access portion of the session, Pollard was contained to working with the team's training staff, while Ezekiel Elliott (knee) rode a stationary bike, according to Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News. While that was the extent of Pollard's activity, Elliott was considered a full participant. With Pollard's health compromised at the moment, his status will be of keen interest as the Cowboys go through the rest of Week 14 prep. Behind Elliott and Pollard, Corey Clement is the other healthy running back on the active roster.
Dec 8, 2021
Dealing with injury
Pollard (undisclosed) focused on resistance work with the Cowboys' training staff during the open portion of Wednesday's practice, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard appears to be dealing with an injury of unknown nature, while Ezekiel Elliott also rode a stationary bike before joining his teammates for practice. The Cowboys signed Ito Smith to the practice squad earlier Wednesday, likely as an insurance policy due to the banged-up state of their backfield. Pollard's activity level will become known upon the release of the team's first Week 14 practice report.
Dec 3, 2021
Rips off long TD run
Pollard rushed seven times for 71 yards and a touchdown and brought in two of four targets for three yards in the Cowboys' 27-17 win over the Saints on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Pollard's 58-yard rushing touchdown late in the third quarter gave the Cowboys some valuable breathing room after the Saints had closed to within 13-10 earlier in the period. The third-year back also crossed the goal line on a 100-yard kickoff return on Thanksgiving against the Raiders, making Thursday's score his third touchdown overall this season. Pollard does remain firmly behind Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield pecking order, but with big-play upside and multiple receptions in four consecutive contests, he retains a solid amount of fantasy utility heading into a Week 14 road trip to Washington a week from Sunday.
Nov 26, 2021
Makes impact on special teams
Pollard carried the ball 10 times for 36 yards, caught all four of his targets for 32 yards, and returned three kickoffs for 129 yards including a 100-yard touchdown in a 36-33 overtime loss to the Raiders on Thanksgiving.
ANALYSIS
With Ezekiel Elliott's knee clearly bothering him, Pollard wound up leading the Cowboys in carries and rushing yards in a nearly even workload split with Zeke. Pollard also just missed scoring a TD in the second quarter on a swing pass from Dak Prescott, but he was ruled down just short of the goal line and had to watch from the sidelines as Elliott punched the ball into the end zone on the next play. Not to be deterred, Pollard returned a kickoff to the house in the third quarter to spur a Dallas comeback from a 24-13 deficit. Elliott will have some extra time to heal up before a Week 13 clash with the Saints, but Pollard's explosiveness should keep him in a prominent role in the offense even if the Cowboys' No. 1 RB is able to handle his usual volume.
Nov 21, 2021
Leading rusher in loss
Pollard carried the ball seven times for 50 yards and caught both his targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 19-9 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
He wound up leading the Cowboys in rushing yards and scrimmage yards on the day, seeing extra touches after Ezekiel Elliott briefly left the game due to a knee injury. With a short week before facing the Raiders on Thanksgiving, Pollard could be in line for a bigger workload Thursday, even if Elliott is able to suit up.
Nov 14, 2021
Just shy of 100 scrimmage yards
Pollard rushed 11 times for 42 yards and caught six of seven targets for 56 yards in Sunday's 43-3 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Pollard actually mustered one more rushing yard than Ezekiel Elliott on three fewer carries, but Elliott scored a pair of short touchdowns, while Pollard still hasn't found the end zone since Week 2. This was the best pass-catching performance of the season for Pollard, both in terms of receptions and yardage, but his ceiling remains capped by his change-of-pace role and lack of red-zone usage heading into a Week 11 road matchup with the Chiefs.
Nov 8, 2021
Little work in rough loss
Pollard carried the ball four times for 11 yards and caught one of two targets for 32 yards in Sunday's loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Ezekiel Elliott was in and out of the lineup throughout the game due to a knee contusion, but with the Cowboys' offense as a whole generally unable to get anything going, Pollard didn't get much of a chance to take advantage. He's now been held below 10 touches and 50 scrimmage yards in each of the last two games, but if Elliott's injury proves to be serious, Pollard could see a big jump in his workload in Week 10 against the Falcons.
Nov 2, 2021
Quiet against Vikings
Pollard carried the ball seven times for 26 yards and caught his only target for one yard in Sunday's win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys' rushing game couldn't get a whole lot going with Cooper Rush under center instead of Dak Prescott (calf), but Minnesota stacking the box allowed the backup QB to throw for 325 yards. Pollard's eight touches was his smallest workload since Week 1, but with Prescott expected back in Week 9 against the Broncos, the running back is likely to see double-digit touches once again.
Oct 18, 2021
Solid numbers in Sunday's win
Pollard carried the ball 10 times for 41 yards and caught all three of his targets for 22 yards in Sunday's overtime win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
He saw half the workload of Ezekiel Elliott, who wound up with 119 scrimmage yards on 24 touches, but Pollard still posted solid numbers in his secondary role. The third-year running back has reached 60 scrimmage yards in five straight games heading into the Cowboys' Week 7 bye, giving him a stable fantasy floor despite the fact he's only found the end zone once so far in 2021.
Oct 4, 2021
Another solid effort
Pollard carried the ball 10 times for 67 yards in Sunday's win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
While he didn't receive a target, Pollard still posted strong numbers behind Ezekiel Elliott and saw double-digit touches while topping 60 scrimmage yards for the third straight week. The Cowboys' increased emphasis on the running game is turning Pollard into a fairly reliable fantasy asset even in a backup role, giving him some appeal in Week 5 against a Giants defense that hasn't been able to contain the likes of Alvin Kamara, Melvin Gordon or J.D. McKissic this year.
Sep 30, 2021
Away from team for personal reasons
Pollard was absent from Thursday's practice for personal reasons, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News, Pollard wasn't present for drills Thursday, but there was no concern regarding his availability for Week 4 at the time of the report. Indeed, Pollard's absence isn't injury-related, so even if he remains away from the Cowboys on Friday, he appears to be OK as the team continues to prepare for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Sep 30, 2021
Logs DNP Thursday
Pollard (undisclosed) didn't practice Thursday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, a source close to Pollard downplayed the running back's absence, suggesting that "he's good." That notion would be confirmed in the event that Pollard practices in any capacity Friday when the Cowboys get in their final session prior to Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Sep 28, 2021
Gets 12 touches
Pollard rushed 11 times for 60 yards in Monday night's 41-21 win over the Eagles. He also caught his lone target for five yards.
ANALYSIS
Pollard, fresh off a 140-yard outburst in Week 2, was a nice complement to starter Ezekiel Elliott in the first half, when the Cowboys' offense line dominated up front. Although Elliott had two rushing touchdowns by halftime, Pollard still ran 10 times for 56 yards. Despite that production and a comfortable lead, however, Pollard wasn't used much in the second half, capping his overall output. While Elliott's star presence should usually limit Pollard's upside, he's proven to be a valued contributor to Dallas' offense the past couple games, giving him decent utility ahead of Week 4's matchup versus the Panthers.
Sep 19, 2021
Erupts for 140 yards in win
Pollard carried the ball 13 times for 109 yards and a touchdown and caught all three of his targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
After the Cowboys' running game got bottled up by the Bucs in Week 1, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore made a point of getting his ground game going in this one. While Ezekiel Elliott led the team with 16 carries, it was Pollard who led in rushing yards, and he scored his first TD of the season on a four-yard plunge midway through the first quarter. Zeke remains the unquestioned starter, but if Pollard continues to capitalize on his opportunities, double-digit touches could become the norm for him. The third-year back's big performance will give the Eagles' defense something else to think about heading into a Week 3 clash back in Dallas.
Sep 13, 2021
Seven touches in opener
Pollard carried the ball three times for 14 yards and caught all four of his targets for 29 yards in a Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Coach Mike McCarthy stated in the offseason that the Cowboys would look to reduce Ezekiel Elliott's workload early in the year, and while that came to pass in the team's opener, it didn't result in a big increase in touches for Pollard. Facing one of the toughest front sevens in the NFL likely also played a role in Dallas not utilizing its backfield very much. Both RBs have a more favorable matchup in Week 2 against a Chargers defense that just gave up 108 scrimmage yards to Antonio Gibson, but as long as Elliott is healthy, Pollard's week to week fantasy value will be limited.
Aug 22, 2021
Looks good Saturday
Pollard rushed for 20 yards on five carries while catching both his targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Getting the start once again as Ezekiel Elliott gets saved for the regular season, Pollard scored the Cowboys' first TD of the game late in the first quarter on an eight-yard screen pass from Cooper Rush. The third-year running back saw 129 touches last season as the No. 2 option in the backfield, but Pollard could see that number increase in 2021 even if Elliott stays healthy, as the coaching staff seems intent on reducing Zeke's workload.
Aug 5, 2021
Two touches in preseason loss
Pollard rushed twice for nine yards and did not see any targets during the Cowboys' 16-3 preseason loss to the Steelers in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game.
ANALYSIS
Even with Ezekiel Elliott suiting up but not playing, Pollard was utilized sparingly while the Cowboys gave Rico Dowdle an extended look. The third-year pro should once again be set for a solid complementary role behind Elliott, one that could even include a boost in the 101 carries Pollard logged in 2020 with Elliott playing in 15 games. There's also been talk this offseason of Pollard seeing more work as a receiver, which would seemingly be one way to take advantage of his ability in space while also potentially deploying him and Elliott simultaneously.
Jun 3, 2021
Getting work at wide receiver
Pollard has been getting some work at wide receiver according to head coach Mike McCarthy, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard has shown flashes when given the opportunity, but it's hard to get many reps in the backfield behind a bell cow like Ezekiel Elliott. It makes sense to give Pollard some reps at receiver to try to increase his potential snaps, while not sacrificing Elliott's either. We'll have to wait and see how this evolves going into training camp, but it's something to keep and eye on and could add a little bit more value to Pollard.
Jan 4, 2021
Wraps up inconsistent campaign
Pollard gained 15 rushing yards on five carries and caught three of five targets for 18 yards in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The second-year back put together a 2020 season much like his rookie campaign, as he showed occasional flashes of his upside (highlighted by his 132 scrimmage yards and two TDs in Week 15) but mostly saw limited work behind Ezekiel Elliott. Pollard finished the season with 627 yards from scrimmage, a slight improvement on 2019, and five total touchdowns. With Elliott still under contract and carrying a sizable cap hit, the backfield depth chart isn't likely to change much in Dallas in 2021, limiting Pollard's fantasy appeal to that of insurance policy.
Dec 28, 2020
Does little in Sunday's rout
Pollard carried the ball nine times for 12 yards and caught one of two targets for eight yards in Sunday's win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
After his 132-yard, two-TD effort in Week 15, Pollard seemed poised to take on a bigger role in the Cowboys' backfield even with Ezekiel Elliott returning to action, but instead the second-year RB faded back into the woodwork. Pollard will likely see a similar workload again in Week 17 against the Giants, and while he's shown his upside, he'll be a risky fantasy option.
Dec 27, 2020
Likely back to No. 2 role
Pollard is expected to serve as the Cowboys' No. 2 running back Sunday against the Eagles with Ezekiel Elliott (calf) set to play after sitting out the Week 15 win over the 49ers, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Elliott sat out the Week 15 contest, Pollard thrived in his first career start, carrying 12 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns and hauling in six of nine targets for 63 yards. Though Elliott -- who is listed as questionable for the contest -- has averaged a career-worst 3.9 yards per carry this season and presumably isn't 100 percent while he works back from the bruised calf, the massive six-year, $90 million contract extension he signed last week should continue to give him the edge over Pollard for lead duties out of the backfield. That being said, it wouldn't be surprising if Pollard's stellar Week 15 outing earned him a larger portion of the snaps and touches out of the backfield. Over the previous four games both he and Elliott played together, Pollard logged between 32 and 39 percent of the offensive snaps while averaging just over eight touches per contest.
Dec 20, 2020
Stars in two-TD effort
Pollard carried 12 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns while adding six receptions (on nine targets) for 63 yards during Sunday's 41-33 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Pollard stepped into a featured role with Ezekiel Elliott (calf) ruled out and recorded a new career high in touches. He scored a short rushing touchdown early on and was bottled up on the ground for the most part until he broke free for a 40-yard score in the fourth quarter. Additionally, Pollard led the team in targets and receptions as his receiving prowess helped him pile up 132 scrimmage yards. It is unclear if the team plans to hold Elliott out over the final two games, but if so, Pollard will likely be in line for a similar role next Sunday against the Eagles.
Dec 20, 2020
Set to lead backfield
Pollard is in line to lead the Cowboys backfield after Ezekiel Elliott was ruled inactive Sunday against the 49ers, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
A 2019 fourth-round pick, Pollard has earned double-digit touches in seven of his 28 career contests. In those appearances, he's averaged 13.3 touches for 72.3 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring three touchdowns. Aside from Pollard, the other candidates for touches at running back are Rico Dowdle and Sewo Olonilua.
Dec 13, 2020
Earns significant workload
Pollard carried the ball 11 times for 39 yards in Week 14 against the Bengals. He added two receptions for nine yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Pollard had a near even workload with workhorse Ezekiel Elliott. That didn't translate into much production until late in the game, however, when he found the end zone on a seven-yard pass from Andy Dalton. Elliot was nursing a calf injury leading up to the Week 14 matchup, which may have led to the reduced workload. His availability to practice leading up to the team's Week 15 showdown with the 49ers could hint at Pollard's future workload.
Dec 9, 2020
Makes impact in return game
Pollard carried the ball eight times for 22 yards and caught his only target for six yards in Tuesday's loss to the Ravens. He also gained 126 yards on four kickoff returns.
ANALYSIS
While he failed to reach double-digit touches on offense for the third straight contest and the 10th time in 12 games this season, Pollard did contribute as a return man, and his 66-yard scamper to Baltimore's 28-yard line set up Dallas' first touchdown of the night. As long as Ezekiel Elliott is healthy, however, Pollard's role on offense will remain limited.
Nov 27, 2020
Little usage in Thanksgiving loss
Pollard carried the ball four times for 12 yards and caught both his targets for 10 yards in Thursday's loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
Despite another fumble from Ezekiel Elliott, Pollard didn't see much action in the Thanksgiving Day rout, continuing a trend from last week -- after getting at least eight touches in five straight games prior to the Cowboys' bye, Pollard has only 11 touches total in the last two contests. As long as Dallas has a shot at winning their division, Elliot's workload isn't likely to decline, leaving Pollard's usage dependent on game flow rather than his abilities.
Nov 22, 2020
Gets into end zone Sunday
Pollard carried the ball five times for 60 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The lead changed hands four times in the fourth quarter, with Pollard's 42-yard TD scamper supplying one of the switches. In addition to scoring for the first time since Week 4, the Cowboys' No. 2 RB also set a new season high for rushing yards, giving him plenty of momentum heading into a Thanksgiving clash with Washington.
Nov 8, 2020
Sees usual role Sunday
Pollard carried the ball nine times for 57 yards and caught one of two targets for one yard in Sunday's 24-19 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Ezekiel Elliott was a game-time decision Sunday due to a minor hamstring strain, opening up the possibility of an increased role for Pollard, but Elliott wound up getting 20 touches and his backup saw his usual volume -- Pollard has gotten 8-12 touches in each of the last five games. The second-year back did set a season high in rushing yards against Pittsburgh, but with the Cowboys headed into their bye week, Elliott should be at 100 percent for Week 11's clash with the Vikings, closing the door for now on a boost in Pollard's fantasy value.
Nov 6, 2020
Chance for increased role Sunday
Pollard could have an increased workload Sunday against the Steelers if Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring) has trouble in his pregame workout, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Elliott has been limited at practice all week and there's some question about his availability for Sunday, though the team still expects him to play. Pollard set season highs in rushing yards (40) and receiving yards (24) during last week's loss to the Eagles, and he could be even more involved this week.
Nov 2, 2020
Season high in scrimmage yards
Pollard carried the ball seven times for 40 yards and caught both his targets for 24 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys' offense had little success with seventh-round rookie Ben DiNucci under center, but Pollard was able to muster season highs in rushing and scrimmage yards from his nine touches. Andy Dalton (concussion) is expected back at quarterback for Week 9, but Pollard's value, and the outlook for the Dallas offense as a whole, will remain low.
Oct 26, 2020
Held in check Sunday
Pollard carried the ball eight times for 16 yards and caught his only target for six yards in Sunday's loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys' running game had little success working behind a patchwork offensive line, especially after Andy Dalton (concussion) left the game and was replaced by rookie Ben DiNucci, and Pollard wasn't able to do much with his reps. The second-year back has seen at least eight touches in each of the last three games, but the outlook for the Dallas offense as a whole is bleak heading into Week 8's road clash with the Eagles.
Oct 20, 2020
Handles 10 carries in MNF blowout
Pollard registered 31 rushing yards on 10 carries, also corralling two of his four targets for nine receiving yards during Monday's 38-10 loss to Arizona.
ANALYSIS
After Ezekiel Elliott lost two fumbles in a game for the first time in his NFL career, Pollard handled seven of the Cowboys' final 11 RB touches to close out the first half. Pollard's 12 offensive touches on the night significantly outpaced his previous season high of eight, but the uptick in involvement can largely be attributed to game script, as Dallas fell into a 28-3 hole by the midpoint of the third quarter. Elliott is expected to garner a higher proportion of the RB workload next week in what figures to be a more tightly-contested game, on the road against Washington.
Oct 12, 2020
Eight touches in Sunday's win
Pollard carried the ball six times for 30 yards and caught two of three targets for two yards in Sunday's win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The eight touches were a season high for the Cowboys' No. 2 running back, although Pollard made little impact with them. The Dallas offense could look very different in Week 6 with Dak Prescott (ankle) lost for the season, and if more emphasis is put on the ground game, Pollard could start to see 8-10 touches per game on a more consistent basis.
Oct 5, 2020
Finds end zone in loss
Pollard carried the ball three times for 16 yards and a touchdown and caught one of two targets for 16 yards in Sunday's loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
The 32 scrimmage yards tied his season high, while the TD was his first of 2020. Ezekiel Elliott continues to see the bulk of the work in the Dallas backfield, but his recent difficulty holding onto the ball -- both in terms of dropped passes and fumbles -- could open the door for Pollard to get more touches going forward.
Sep 28, 2020
Not seeing work
Pollard did not receive a carry and caught his only target for a five-yard loss in Sunday's defeat at the hands of the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Ezekiel Elliott did not have a good game, committing numerous drops, slipping in his own end zone for a safety, and averaging only 2.4 yards a carry, but even in those circumstances Pollard didn't get a chance to make an impact. It seems as though it will take an injury to Elliott for the Cowboys' No. 2 running back to have any kind of fantasy value.
Sep 21, 2020
Just three touches Sunday
Pollard rushed for six yards on two carries and caught his only target for three yards in Sunday's comeback win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Ezekiel Elliott once again saw a heavy workload with 28 touches, leaving little action left over for Pollard aside from his duties on kickoffs, which produced 106 yards on five returns. The second-year back will need to bide his time and wait for a game with a more favorable script before getting a chance to make an impact.
Sep 14, 2020
Limited touches in loss
Pollard gained 10 yards on two carries and caught two of three targets for 22 yards in Sunday's loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Ezekiel Elliott logged 22 totes and three catches on four targets, leaving little work left over for Pollard. The second-year back did pick up 48 yards on two kickoff returns, but his role in the offense could be minimal this year unless Elliott is injured or game flow allows Pollard some garbage-time touches.
Aug 17, 2020
Could have bigger role?
Coach Mike McCarthy said he won't discuss his usage of Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
It seems reporters were probing McCarthy about the possibility of Pollard taking on a larger role in his second pro season. It would be a reasonable plan, especially on passing downs, but there's no doubt Elliott will dominate the carries as long as he's healthy. Elliott mentioned that pass catching was his main focus this offseason, perhaps cognizant that he could be in danger of losing some of that work to Pollard. The 2019 fourth-round pick was limited to 15-107-1 on 20 targets as a rookie, but he actually had more receiving yards (1,292) than rushing yards (941) in this three seasons at Memphis. A larger role for Pollard might push Elliott down to mid-to-low-RB1 territory for fantasy purposes, rather than his accustomed high-end RB1 status. Meanwhile, Pollard is one of the more valuable backup running backs, sitting one Zeke injury away from a potential three-down role in a highly promising offense.
Dec 12, 2019
Back to full participation
Pollard (ankle) practiced fully Thursday, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard opened the week with a cap on his reps, but his ability to handle every rep Thursday paves the way for him to return to action Sunday against the Rams following a one-game absence. Working behind Ezekiel Elliott, Pollard likely is in line for the four touches per game he received in the nine games prior to his Week 14 DNP.
Dec 11, 2019
Practices in limited fashion
Pollard (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard sat out Week 14's loss to the Bears due to an ankle injury, but he now appears to be trending in the right direction for Sunday's tilt against the Rams. The rookie fourth-round pick will have two more opportunities to increase his practice activity and avoid an injury tag entirely for Week 15. If he's indeed cleared to retake the field Sunday, Pollard will reprise his usual uncontested backup role behind Ezekiel Elliott.
Dec 5, 2019
Not available Thursday
Pollard (ankle) is listed as inactive Thursday at Chicago, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard ended Week 14 prep in a precarious position, being held out Tuesday and Wednesday due to an ankle injury. Despite the Cowboys not bolstering the backfield prior to kickoff, the team has opted to keep Pollard in street clothes. As a result, FB Jamize Olawale is the only back available to the offense aside from workhorse Ezekiel Elliott.
Dec 4, 2019
Status in question for Thursday
Pollard (ankle) is questionable for Thursday's game in Chicago, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard didn't make an appearance on the Cowboys' Week 14 injury report until Tuesday, capping it with back-to-back DNPs. After Ezekiel Elliott, fullback Jamize Olawale is the only other RB on the Cowboys' 53-man roster, so the team would show its hand with Pollard if it makes an addition to the backfield.
Dec 3, 2019
Added to injury report
Pollard (ankle) didn't practice Tuesday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard was added to the Cowboys' Week 14 injury report Tuesday, so his status for Thursday's game against the Bears will be worth monitoring. Pollard remains firmly behind Ezekiel Elliott on the Cowboys' running back depth chart, which limits his fantasy ceiling, but he does remain useful as an insurance policy in the event that Elliott suffers an injury down the stretch.
Oct 9, 2019
Practices in full Wednesday
Pollard (knee/ankle) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Pollard came out of Sunday's loss to the Packers nursing knee and ankle injuries, but it appears as though the issues are minor and don't threaten his availability for Week 6. The rookie hasn't seen much work behind Ezekiel Elliot through two straight contests, so he currently exists off the fantasy radar except as a high-upside backup.
Oct 7, 2019
Banged up heading into Week 6
In the aftermath of Sunday's loss to the Packers, Pollard is dealing with knee and ankle issues, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
That said, the running back should be able to practice this week, suggesting that neither ailment is viewed as a major concern. Pollard logged just five snaps in Week 5, while rushing four times for 19 yards. With two straight quiet statistical weeks in the books, Pollard is off the fantasy radar for now and it would probably take an injury to Ezekiel Elliott for that to change.
