Placed on injured reserve
The Bears moved Edmunds (groin) to IR on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds didn't practice at all this week due to a groin injury. The issue seems significant given that Chicago has elected to move the veteran linebacker to IR, thus ensuring that he'll miss at least four games. Ruben Hyppolite could move into a starting role in Edmunds' absence.
Nov 21, 2025
Won't play Sunday
Edmunds (groin) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old didn't practice all week due to a groin injury and is now in line to miss his first game of the season Sunday. Edmunds is an integral part of the Bears' defense, recording 89 total tackles and nine passes defensed, including four interceptions, over 10 appearances this year. While he's out in Week 12, expect Ruben Hyppolite to have an expanded role on Chicago's defense.
Nov 20, 2025
Misses practice again
Edmunds (groin) did not participate in practice for the second day in a row Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The linebacker played on all 55 defensive snaps in Week 11 against the Vikings, but he also may have picked up the injury during the game. Edmunds will have one more chance to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Steelers. Ruben Hyppolite is his backup.
Nov 19, 2025
Tending to groin injury
Edmunds (groin) did not participate at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds collected nine tackles in Week 11 at Minnesota, but it seems like he might have also picked up a groin issue along the way. He'll probably have to return to practice Thursday or Friday to have a chance to play in Week 12 versus the Steelers.
Nov 16, 2025
Another high-volume outing
Edmunds recorded nine tackles, including five solo, in the Bears' 19-17 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has at least seven tackles in 10 of 11 contests, including five games with nine or more stops. His consistency keeps him locked in as an elite weekly IDP starter.
Nov 9, 2025
Another busy day at linebacker
Edmunds posted seven tackles, including one tackle for loss, in the Bears' 24-20 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has registered at least seven tackles in eight of nine contests this season while adding four interceptions. His consistent high-floor production keeps him locked in as an every-week IDP starter.
Nov 2, 2025
Posts nine tackles
Edmunds tallied nine tackles (five solo) and one interception in the Bears' 47-42 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has at least nine tackles in five of his last six contests and has recorded four interceptions this season. He continues to function as a high-floor IDP and should remain a locked-in weekly starter.
Oct 28, 2025
Three tackles in Week 8
Edmunds recorded three tackles (two solo) in the Bears' loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Despite playing 94 percent of the defensive snaps, Edmunds did very little in the box score, as his three tackles were easily Edmunds' fewest of the season. On the year, he's recorded 64 tackles (32 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and five pass breakups, including three interceptions.
Oct 26, 2025
Seven tackles in loss
Edmunds posted seven tackles, including 1.0 sack and two tackles for loss, in the Bears' 30-16 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has logged at least seven stops in every game and has sacks in consecutive weeks. His blend of tackle floor/ceiling and splash plays puts him in the elite IDP tier.
Oct 24, 2025
Ready for Sunday
Edmunds (ankle) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds popped up on the Bears' injury report Thursday as a limited practice participant due to an ankle issue, but Friday's full session suggests he's moved past the injury. The veteran linebacker has tallied 61 total tackles and four passes defended, including three interceptions, through Chicago's first six games this season. Now fully healthy, he's expected to start alongside T.J. Edwards in the Week 8 contest.
Oct 23, 2025
Posts limited session Thursday
Edmunds (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, so he appears to either be having his reps capped for maintenance reasons or have sustained an ankle issue during practice. The starting linebacker has been a valuable fantasy contributor this season for IDP purposes, with 61 tackles (60 solo), including 1.0 sacks, plus four pass breakups, including three INTs, so his status will warrant monitoring closely. Unless Edmunds can resume practicing in full Friday, he'll likely be assigned an injury designation for Sunday's road matchup against the Ravens.
Oct 19, 2025
Massive all-around performance
Edmunds totaled nine tackles, one sack, and one interception in the Bears' 26-14 win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has at least nine tackles in four straight contests and now has one sacks and three interceptions this season. He continues to deliver elite IDP production every week.
Oct 14, 2025
Double-digit tackles in win
Edmunds recorded 13 tackles in the Bears' 25-24 win over the Commanders on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has at least 11 tackles over his last three contests after a moderate start to the season, and he's rounding into elite IDP territory.
Sep 28, 2025
Leads team in tackles
Edmunds posted 11 stops in the Bears' 25-24 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After starting the season with seven tackles in each of Chicago's first two games, Edmunds has posted 15 and 11 stops in the last two contests. He's quickly emerging as a high-floor IDP with great weekly upside.
Sep 22, 2025
Defensive star in victory
Edmunds intercepted two passes and registered 15 tackles in the Bears' 31-14 win over the Cowboys on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was solid in Chicago's first two games while recording seven stops in each contest, but the linebacker had an eruption against the Cowboys. Edmunds will remain a high-floor IDP option with occasional upside.
Sep 14, 2025
Solid tackle numbers in loss
Edmunds collected seven tackles in the Bears' 52-21 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
For the second week in a row, Edmunds tied for second on the Bears with seven stops. He's a solid bet to retain a high scoring floor in IDP leagues.
Sep 9, 2025
Racks up seven tackles Monday
Edmunds recorded seven tackles (three solo) and a pass defensed during Monday's 27-24 loss versus the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Chicago's defense was only on the field for 49 snaps Monday, which makes Edmunds' seven stops look a bit more impressive than they would otherwise. Thanks to his huge snap share in the Bears' front seven, he's solidly on the IDP radar going into a Week 2 matchup at Detroit.
Sep 4, 2025
Fades injury report
Edmunds (undisclosed) was not listed on Thursday's estimated injury report.
ANALYSIS
The Bears did not hold a practice Thursday, but Edmund's absence from the practice report indicates that he is past a soft-tissue injury that cropped up during the last few days of training camp. Barring any setbacks, the 2018 first-rounder is poised to be available for Monday's regular-season opener against the Vikings. Edmunds has logged at least 100 total tackles in each of his seven NFL seasons and a linebacker corps that also includes Ruben Hyppolite and T.J. Edwards (hamstring).
Aug 23, 2025
Nursing soft-tissue injury
Head coach Ben Johnson said Friday that Edmunds is working through a soft-tissue injury that isn't a long-term concern, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds did not play in the Bears' preseason finale against the Chiefs on Friday due to the injury, but he doesn't appear to be in jeopardy of missing Chicago's Week 1 contest against Minnesota on Monday, Sept. 8. He played a career-high 1,016 defensive snaps across 17 regular-season games in 2024 and finished with 110 tackles (60 solo), including 1.0 sacks, eight pass defenses (one interception) and one forced fumble.
Jan 6, 2025
Another 100-tackle season
Edmunds recorded nine tackles in the Bears 24-22 win over the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
In his second year in Chicago, Edmunds averaged 6.5 stops per game, which was the lowest rate of his seven-year career. However, the veteran has at least 102 tackles in each season he's played. In addition to the 110 tackles, Edmunds had 1.0 sacks and a forced fumble. The linebacker is signed through 2026.
Dec 28, 2024
Totals six tackles in Week 17
Edmunds recorded six tackles (four solo) in Thursday's 6-3 loss against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS

Dec 9, 2024
Racks up eight tackles
Edmunds logged eight tackles (four solo) during Chicago's 38-13 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds had a solid outing despite the loss as he racked up the second most tackles on the team behind T.J. Edwards. Edmunds has now recorded 82 tackles (45 solo), with 1.0 sacks, and an interception and will look to add to those totals during the team's Week 15 matchup versus the Vikings.
Nov 24, 2024
Strong performance in defeat
Edmunds tallied nine tackles in the Bears' 30-27 overtime loss to the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
This was only the third time all season that the Edmunds recorded more than seven tackles. The linebacker remains a player who typically posts 4-6 stops with occasional upside.
Oct 27, 2024
Double-digit tackles in loss
Edmunds tallied 10 stops in the Bears' 18-15 loss to the Commanders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds recorded his second game of the season with at least 10 tackles. However, coming into this game, the linebacker averaged five stops over Chicago's previous four games. Edmunds remains a solid-floor IDP with occasional upside.
Sep 22, 2024
Picks off pass
Edmunds recorded five tackles and an interception in the Bears' 21-16 loss to the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has failed to top five tackles in two of three games to start the season, though he's posted a sack and an interception to bolster his IDP value. The linebacker's uneven production make him a volatile weekly IDP option, though Edmunds has significant upside.
Sep 16, 2024
Big tackle numbers
Edmunds recorded 11 tackles and a sack in the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After an uncharacteristically low tackle total of four in Week 1, Edmunds came roaring back against the Texans. In 2023, the linebacker posted 113 tackles in 15 games, and the 11 tackles Edmunds tallied this week put him back on track as a strong weekly IDP option.
Aug 6, 2024
High-floor IDP
Edmunds averaged 7.5 tackles last year and is expected to resume his role as Chicago's middle linebacker in 2024.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds posted at least seven tackles in 10 of 15 games, making him a high-floor IDP most weeks. Going into the second of a four-year deal with the Bears, Edmunds will likely retain similar IDP production in 2024.
Jan 7, 2024
Solid first year in Chicago
Edmunds recorded 103 tackles in the Bears' 17-9 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds posted between six and nine tackles in the majority of his games, and he was a high-floor IDP most weeks. On the season, he posted 112 tackles, four interceptions, a forced fumble and a touchdown in 15 games. Going into the second of a four-year deal with the Bears, Edmunds will likely retain similar IDP production in 2024.
Jan 2, 2024
Picks up five tackles in win
Edmunds recorded five tackles (four solo) in Sunday's win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
The five tackles were Edmunds' second-fewest in a game this season despite playing 97 percent of the defensive snaps. On the year, Edmunds has racked up 103 tackles (62 solo), four interceptions, including a pick-six, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Dec 17, 2023
Pick six in loss
Edmunds recorded nine tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown in the Bears' 20-17 loss to the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds tied his second-best tackle total of the season, but he had his best fantasy performance of the season by picking off Joe Flacco and running it in for the score. With at least six tackles in all but one game, Edmunds remains a high-floor IDP option.
Dec 10, 2023
Strong fantasy performance
Edmunds recorded seven tackles and an interception in the Bears' 28-13 win over the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has posted at least six tackles in all but three games, and over his last five games, he's intercepted three passes. He remains a high-floor IDP with upside when he picks off a pass.
Nov 19, 2023
Second pick in three weeks
Edmunds recorded eight tackles and an interception in the Bears' 31-26 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has exactly eight or nine stops in six of the nine games he's played. The only poor performance he had this season was when he left the Week 8 game early with the knee injury that sidelined him for two games. He should continue to be among the highest floor plays in IDP.
Nov 19, 2023
Ready to go Sunday
Edmunds (knee) is active Sunday against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was able to log a limited practice Friday after logging consecutive DNPs earlier in the week. His return after a two-game absence should be good news for the Bears' defense.
Nov 17, 2023
Questionable for Sunday at Detroit
Edmunds (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds managed to return to practice in a limited capacity Friday, giving himself a chance to suit up in Week 11. If he sits out his third straight game though, T.J. Edwards will again serve as Chicago's top linebacker Sunday.
Nov 15, 2023
Misses practice Wednesday
Edmunds (knee) did not participate at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was unable to play in Week 10 versus the Panthers and he has now opened this week on the sidelines at practice. The linebacker will have two more chances to at least log a limited session ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Lions.
Nov 8, 2023
Not ready for return
Edmunds (knee) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds suffered the injury Week 8 against the Chargers and after being inactive Sunday against the Saints, he still has not practiced with the team. Jack Sanborn started in Edmunds' place previously and will likely be called upon to do so again against Carolina.
Nov 6, 2023
Day-to-day with knee injury
Matt Eberflus said Monday that Edmunds (knee) is day-to-day, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds sustained a knee injury that knocked him out of Sunday's game at New Orleans, but for now it seems like he avoided anything too serious. His status for Week 10 is still up in the air though - Chicago's official injury reports this week will provide more insight in that regard.
Nov 3, 2023
Unavailable Sunday
Edmunds (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old was unable to practice this week after suffering the injury last Sunday versus the Chargers, and he'll be sidelined for at least one game. Jack Sanborn could have an increased defensive role for the Bears with Edmunds out.
Nov 2, 2023
Records another DNP
Edmunds (knee) did not participate in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has now missed two consecutive practices with the knee injury he suffered during Chicago's Week 8 loss to the Chargers. Head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters Wednesday that the 25-year-old linebacker is considered day-to-day, and he'll likely carry an injury designation into the weekend after missing Thursday's practice.
Nov 1, 2023
Viewed as day-to-day
Edmunds (knee) is considered day-to-day, coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was originally feared to have suffered a more significant injury when he left Sunday's loss to the Chargers due to a knee injury, so this update is a positive one. Still, the linebacker's practice participation will be worth monitoring as the Bears prepare to face the Saints in Week 9. Jack Sanborn would be in line for a larger role if Edwards sits out Sunday in New Orleans.
Oct 30, 2023
Avoids season-ending injury
Edmunds avoided a "worst-case scenario" when he injured his knee during Sunday's game at the Chargers, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Even so, Edmunds could still miss multiple games, and more testing is necessary to determine the exact severity of the issue. If he does miss time, Jack Sanborn will probably see an uptick in reps at linebacker.
Oct 29, 2023
Questionable to return
Edmunds is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Chargers due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds went down in the third quarter of Sunday's matchup and appeared to be in considerable pain, but he briefly returned to the game afterward. However, it's possible he aggravated the issue, and it's unclear whether he'll be available down the stretch. Since the Bears are trailing by a wide margin in the second half, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team exercise caution to preserve his health in the long run.
Oct 22, 2023
Another strong outing
Edmunds tallied eight stops in the Bears' 30-12 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has recorded at least eight tackles in six of seven games, and he remains a high-floor IDP each week.
Oct 6, 2023
Records nine stops
Edmunds collected nine tackles in the Bears' 40-20 win over the Commanders on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has notched at least eight tackles in each game, and he should continue to be a reliable weekly IDP in his high-volume role.
Oct 2, 2023
Finishes with eight tackles
Edmunds recorded eight tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Chicago's defense wasn't on the field as much in Week 4 as the offense started to show signs of life, but Edmunds still managed to rack up eight tackles on 48 defensive snaps. The Virginia Tech product has been the definition of consistency so far this year, totaling 39 tackles in four contests.
Sep 17, 2023
Monster performance
Edmunds tallied 16 stops in the Bears' 27-17 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After notching eight tackles in Week 1, Edmunds easily led the Bears in tackles against Tampa Bay. With opposing offenses moving the ball with ease against Chicago, their defense may be on the field for a high number of weekly snaps. As a result, Edmunds may be both a high-floor and high-upside IDP going forward.
Sep 10, 2023
Solid Chicago debut
Edmunds tallied eight stops in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
In a game the Packers were predictably running the ball often in the second half of a blowout, Edmunds had plenty of tackle opportunities. Last season when Edmunds was with the Bengals, he was a high-floor IDP, and it's likely he retains similar value this season.
Aug 26, 2023
Makes preseason debut Saturday
Edmunds (undisclosed) started Saturday's preseason game against the Bills, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds did not participate in practice over the last three weeks while dealing with an undisclosed issue. However, he "ramped up" his rehab from this injury Tuesday, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com, and it appears he was cleared for full contact just in time for Chicago's preseason finale. Edmunds eclipsed 100 tackles in each of his first five seasons with the Bills, and he's primed for a major role over the middle of the Bears' defense this coming season.
Aug 15, 2023
Ready to lead linebacker group
Edmunds has been the centerpiece of the Bears' revamped linebacker corps, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After signing a four-year $72 million contract in free agency, the Bears expected Edmunds to pick up where he left off in Buffalo, which saw him record at least 100 tackles in each of his five seasons. He's expected to be a top IDP option this season.
Mar 13, 2023
Heading to Chicago
The Bears and Edmunds agreed Monday to a four-year, $72 contract that includes $50 million guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Chicago has now agreed to terms with T.J. Edwards and Edmunds ahead of the new league year, forming one of the best linebacker duos in the NFL. Edmunds, a 2018 first-round pick, recorded at least 100 tackles in each of his five seasons with the Bills and will be a top IDP option again in 2023.
Dec 26, 2022
Paces both clubs with nine stops
Edmunds recorded nine tackles (five solo) in Saturday's 35-13 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds logged a game-high nine stops in the Week 16 matchup versus Chicago, now bringing his total up to 95 in that department across 12 contests played this season. He'll continue operating as one of Buffalo's primary defensive contributors when the Bills travel to Cincinnati next Monday night.
Dec 19, 2022
Notches eight tackles
Edmunds had eight tackles (six solo) in Saturday's victory over Miami.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has been on the field for every defensive snap for the Bills over the last three weeks, racking up 21 tackles (15 solo) over this brief stretch. He's well on his way to reaching 100 tackles this season after doing so in each of his first four seasons in the NFL.
Dec 13, 2022
Collects eight stops in win
Edmunds recorded eight tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds' eight stops this past weekend now gives him 79 in that category across 10 games played this season. The 2018 first-round pick should continue operating in his every-down role when the Bills host the Dolphins on Saturday.
Dec 4, 2022
Paces team with six tackles
Edmunds recorded six tackles (five solo) during Thursday's 24-10 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds entered Thursday's contest with a two-game absence streak due to a groin issue, but he was ultimately provided medical clearance and was one of four Buffalo players to never leave the field on defense. The 24-year-old also led his club with six stops in Week 13, and he'll now be granted 10 days of rest before hosting the Jets next Sunday.
Nov 28, 2022
Practices fully Monday
Edmunds (groin/heel) was a full participant in practice Monday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds is on track to return Thursday against the Patriots after missing Buffalo's previous two games. He's expected to slot back into his usual starting role at middle linebacker.
Nov 23, 2022
Ruled out for Week 12
Edmunds (groin) has been ruled out for Thursday's Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Lions, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds will miss a second game in a row Thursday while he continues to nurse a groin injury. The linebacker will set his sights on a potential Week 13 return versus the Patriots while Tyrel Dodson will likely see an increased workload again this week in his absence.
Nov 22, 2022
Still not practicing Tuesday
Edmunds (groin) did not participate at practice Tuesday ahead of Thursday's game at Detroit.
ANALYSIS
There appears to be a real possibility that Edmunds will need to sit out another game with the same groin injury that kept him sidelined for Sunday's win at Ford Field. If the two-time Pro Bowler indeed can't go, Tyrel Dodson would probably be in line for the fill-in reps again.
Nov 21, 2022
Sits out walkthrough Monday
Edmunds (groin) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds sustained a groin injury Week 10 against the Vikings, and he was then ruled inactive after failing to practice ahead of Sunday's win over the Browns. While the 24-year-old remained sidelined during Monday's walkthrough, he will still have two more practices to increase his activity before Buffalo's road matchup against Detroit on Thanksgiving Day. If Edmunds remains sidelined Tuesday and Wednesday, then Tyrel Dodson could be in line to play an every-down role for the second straight contest.
Nov 18, 2022
Unavailable for Week 11
Edmunds (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was unable to practice this week after sustaining a groin injury in the Bills' Week 10 loss to the Vikings and he will now be forced to miss his second contest of year. The linebacker will look to return to the field for Thursday's Thanksgiving Day matchup versus the Lions. In his absence this week, Tyrel Dodson will likely step into a larger role.
Nov 17, 2022
Absent once again
Edmunds (groin) was a non-participant in practice Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds logged a second-straight DNP, as he works to recover from the injury he suffered in Week 10's loss to the Vikings. The 24-year-old will likely need to practice in some fashion Friday to increase his odds of suiting up Sunday against the Browns. If he is unable to play, Tyrel Dodson will likely be looking at a significant increase in his workload.
Nov 16, 2022
Not practicing Wednesday
Edmunds (groin) will miss Wednesday's practice, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds picked up a groin injury in Week 10 against the Vikings and will open the week as a non-participant at practice. The linebacker is also dealing with a heel issue and could be forced to miss the Bills' Week 11 matchup with the Browns. His status at practice Thursday and Friday will likely determine his chances to play Sunday.
Nov 15, 2022
To be evaluated in practice
Coach Sean McDermott said Monday that Edmunds (groin) suffered a tweak during Sunday's loss to the Vikings and will be evaluated in practice this week, Harry Scull Jr. of BuffaloNews.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds suited up for Sunday's loss despite entering the game with a "questionable" designation due to groin and heel injuries, and he couldn't re-enter the contest after tweaking the groin injury. The 24-year-old starting linebacker's chances of playing Week 11 versus the Browns will likely hedge on the extent of his participation in weekly practices, beginning Wednesday.
Nov 13, 2022
Questionable to return Sunday
Edmunds (groin) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds, who entered Sunday's contest versus Minnesota with a questionable hashtag next to his name due to groin and heel issues, is now considered questionable to re-enter Sunday's matchup against the Vikings, per Chris Brown of the Bills' official site. Tyrel Dodson has since replaced the 24-year-old linebacker.
Nov 13, 2022
Ready to play
Edmunds (groin/hell) is active Sunday against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was able to log a limited practice Friday after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday, paving the way for him to take the field Sunday. His ability to suit up will be a big boost to the team's defense as he's the starting middle linebacker and team leader in tackles.
Nov 11, 2022
Questionable for Sunday
Edmunds (groin/heel) was a limited participant in practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds returned to practice after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday with separate groin and heel injuries. The starting middle linebacker has played a massive role for Buffalo this season, recording 62 tackles, one sack and two passes defended over seven games, so his absence would be a big hit for the team's defense. If Edmunds is either sidelined or limited against Minnesota, expect Tyrel Dodson to take on a larger role alongside Matt Milano.
Nov 9, 2022
Not practicing Wednesday
Edmunds (groin/heel) didn't practice Wednesday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds played every defensive snap and recorded 11 tackles during the team's Week 9 loss to the Jets, but he appears to have picked up groin and heel injuries during the contest as well. The fifth-year linebacker will have two more opportunities to practice before the team needs to make a decision on Edmunds' status for Sunday's matchup against Minnesota.
Nov 2, 2022
Season-high 16 stops Sunday
Edmunds recorded 16 tackles (13 solo) and a pass defended during Sunday's 27-17 win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds finished as the Bills leading tackler Sunday while tallying double-digit stops for the third time in six contests this season. The middle linebacker also played 100 percent of the Bills' defensive snaps for the fourth game in a row, and he has now recorded 52 tackles (35 solo), one sack and two passes defended in 2022. Edmunds should continue his run of defensive dominance against the Jets this coming Sunday.
Oct 19, 2022
Team-high 10 tackles in win
Edmunds recorded 10 tackles (five solo) during Sunday's 24-20 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds returned to action in Week 6 after being sidelined for Week 5 due to a hamstring injury he picked up in Week 4. He didn't show any lingering signs of the issue as he played every single defensive snap and submitted his second double-digit tackle outing of the campaign. Across five appearances, the fifth-year linebacker has totaled 36 stops, one sack and one pass defense.
Oct 14, 2022
No injury designation
Edmunds doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's contest against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was sidelined for Week 5 due to a hamstring injury he suffered during Week 4. However, he'll be back in action Sunday after returning to practice in a limited fashion Wednesday and progressing to full participation by Friday. Through his first four appearances, the fifth-year linebacker totaled 26 tackles, one sack and one pass defense while playing nearly every defensive snap in the middle of Buffalo's defense.
Oct 12, 2022
Logs limited practice Wednesday
Edmunds (hamstring) was limited during Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds suffered a hamstring injury during the Bills' Week 4 win over the Ravens and didn't return to practice before being ruled out for Week 5. He'll have two more opportunities to upgrade to a full participant before the team needs to make decision on his status for Week 6.
Oct 9, 2022
Will sit against Pittsburgh
Edmunds (hamstring) is inactive Week 5 against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds checks in as the second-leading tackler for the Bills through four games, but he'll be sidelined Sunday after failing to take the practice field all week. Tyrel Dodson appears to be in line to take on a more prominent role in his stead.
Oct 7, 2022
Questionable for Week 5
Edmunds (hamstring) did not practice Friday and is considered questionable to play Sunday against the Steelers, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds failed to practice at all this week after suffering a hamstring injury in the Bills' Week 4 win over the Ravens, placing his availability for Week 5 in question. If he can't go, Tyrel Dodson would step into a more significant role at middle linebacker.
Oct 5, 2022
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Edmunds didn't practice Wednesday due to a hamstring injury, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds notched nine tackles, including two for loss, during the team's Week 4 win over the Ravens, but he appears to have picked up a hamstring issue as well. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but he'll have two more opportunities to practice before the Bills need to make a decision on his status for Week 5.
Oct 4, 2022
Records nine tackles in win
Edmunds produced nine tackles (five solo), including two for loss, during Sunday's 23-20 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds finished second on the team in stops behind Matt Milano and has 26 total tackles across four games this season. The fifth-year linebacker has recorded at least 100 tackles in each of his first four seasons and is on pace to extend that streak to five consecutive campaigns.
Sep 22, 2022
First sack of season
Edmunds recorded two solo tackles, one sack and one pass defended in Monday's 41-7 win against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds notched his first sack of the season on quarterback Ryan Tannehill in the second half. The inside linebacker then got his hand on a pass intended for wide receiver Robert Woods midway through the third quarter, leading to an interception for safety Jordan Poyer. Edmunds played only 80 percent of Buffalo's defensive snaps during this blowout, and he will have opportunities to log more tackles in tighter games this season.
Sep 9, 2022
Team-high 10 tackles in win
Edmunds totaled 10 tackles (seven solo) during Thursday's 31-10 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds played all but one defensive snap and led the Bills defense to a dominating performance over the Rams offense during the season opener. The 2018 first-round pick has recorded at least 100 tackles in each of his first four NFL seasons and is off to a hot start in 2022.
Jan 3, 2022
Leads Bills in tackles
Edmunds totaled seven tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 29-15 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was on the field for every defensive snap in Sunday's victory and remained consistent for the Bills. He's played at least 84 percent of the snaps in each of his last 10 appearances and has racked up at least seven tackles in each of those games. Across that span, the 23-year-old has tallied 83 tackles (52 solo) and a pass defense.
Dec 21, 2021
Racks up seven stops
Edmunds notched seven tackles (four solo) during Sunday's 31-14 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds nearly had an impressive pass breakup to add to his stat sheet, but Cam Newton's attempt was batted down by another defender at the line of scrimmage. The starting linebacker could be busy as a tackler Week 16 with a key divisional road matchup against New England on deck.
Dec 14, 2021
Busy vs. Buccaneers
Edmunds racked up 12 tackles (six solo) and one pass breakup during Sunday's 33-27 overtime loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds logged his second game of the season with double-digit stops, bringing his tackle total through 11 contests to 82 (49 solo). The standout middle linebacker continues to handle an every-down role in Buffalo's defense, and Week 15 he will get a chance to feast against Carolina's moribund offense led by Cam Newton, who has failed to log a single 200-yard passing game since reuniting with the franchise that drafted him.
Nov 27, 2021
Co-leads in tackles Thursday
Edmunds posted eight total tackles in Thursday's 31-6 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
The middle linebacker returned from a two-game absence due to a hamstring injury and looked like he hadn't missed a beat, as he was around the play all day as the Saints futilely tried to run the ball to the tune of 44 net rushing yards. Edmunds will be counted on even more to lead a top-notch defense that just lost its most valuable defender, as start corner Tre'Davious White suffered a season-ending knee injury in the win.
Nov 24, 2021
Good to go for Thanksgiving Day
Edmunds (hamstring) does not have an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was listed as a full participant at Wednesday's practice. The standout linebacker is thus set to retake the field after a two-game absence, which should bolster Buffalo's run defense against a New Orleans team that could tentatively be without Alvin Kamara (knee) and/or Mark Ingram (knee).
Nov 23, 2021
Return looking good
Edmunds (hamstring) is expected to practice fully Tuesday ahead the Thanksgiving game against the Saints, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bills could use their middle man after being run all over the field by Jonathan Taylor and the Colts in Week 11. It seems likely that Edmunds will return for the important primetime game, though his work Tuesday and Wednesday will determine whether he gets an injury designation for the contest.
Nov 22, 2021
Full go at Monday's practice
Edmunds (hamstring) was a full participant during Monday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was able to register a full practice for the first time since tweaking his hamstring in Week 9. The Bills clearly missed the star linebacker Sunday, as Jonathan Taylor exploded for 204 total yards and five touchdowns. Barring a setback, it looks like Edmunds will make his return from a two-game absence in Week 12.
Nov 21, 2021
Not available Sunday
Edmunds (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was considered questionable for Sunday's contest and will be sidelined for the second consecutive game. A.J. Klein should have an increased workload alongside Matt Milano versus Indianapolis.
Nov 19, 2021
Questionable for Sunday
Edmunds (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds sat out the first two practices of the week but was able to put in a limited session Friday. The 23-year-old missed his first game of the season last week but may be able to retake the field Sunday.
Nov 17, 2021
Not practicing Wednesday
Edmunds (hamstring) won't practice Wednesday and remains day-to-day, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was sidelined for the first time this season in Week 10, and now his status for Week 11 is in jeopardy. Coach Sean McDermott said the star linebacker will remain day-to-day, but he will likely have to practice in some capacity this week if he wants to suit up against the Colts on Sunday.
Nov 15, 2021
Considered day-to-day
Edmonds (hamstring) is listed as day-to-day according to head coach Sean McDermott,Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmonds missed Week 10 against the Jets, after not missing a single defensive snap all season. He'll try to hit the practice field this week and return in Week 11 against the Colts.
Nov 12, 2021
Ruled out for Week 10
Edmunds (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds will miss his first game of the season due to a hamstring injury. In his last five appearances, the standout linebacker hadn't missed a single defensive snap. His next chance to play will come Nov. 21 versus Indianapolis.
Nov 11, 2021
Hamstring injury lingers
Edmunds missed practice for the second straight day Thursday due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds is in his fourth season and has only missed two games in his career, so if he's able to practice on even a limited basis Friday we'd like his chances at suiting up Sunday against the Jets. As of now, however, his status for the Week 10 divisional clash appears murky.
Nov 10, 2021
Misses Wednesday's session
Edmunds did not practice Wednesday due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds, as usual, played all 57 of the team's defensive snaps in the Week 9 upset loss to Jacksonville, but he must have tweaked something along the way. Edmunds leads the team in tackles by a good margin with 54 stops through eight games, so you can bet the team would like to see the middle linebacker practicing on some level Thursday or Friday as it tries to get off a schneid that's seen the AFC East favorites lose two of the last three contests.
Nov 9, 2021
Solid tackling day in upset loss
Edmunds had seven tackles (three solo) in Sunday's 9-6 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds remains a high-floor fantasy option in IDP formats, but he hasn't displayed regular big-game potential this season. Nonetheless, the every-down linebacker is clearly worth consideration in fantasy lineups heading into a Week 10 road matchup against the Jets.
Nov 2, 2021
Records eight tackles during Week 8
Edmunds made eight tackles (four solo) during Sunday's 26-11 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has recorded at least right tackles in four of his last five contests. The 23-year-old linebacker has recorded at least 110 tackles in every season since joining the NFL in 2018 and remains a high-floor IDP option for the 2021 campaign.
Oct 13, 2021
Season-high stops
Edmunds had nine tackles during Sunday night's win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds had his best tackling day of the season versus Kansas City, but he didn't notch any other IDP-relevant stats. He did play 100 percent of defensive snaps for the third time in five games, however. Edmunds possesses a high enough floor to be in the mix as an every-week fantasy option, but he hasn't yet displayed his usual ceiling.
Oct 6, 2021
First INT of season
Edmunds notched six tackles (three solo), one pass breakup and one interception during Sunday's win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds only played 71 percent of defensive snaps due to the fact that Sunday's win was a 40-0 blowout, but he did enough to reward fantasy managers while on the field. The 23-year-old stands to return to his usual every-down role in what should be a much more competitive Week 5 matchup against the Chiefs.
Sep 29, 2021
Leads team in tackles
Edmunds recorded seven tackles (six solo) during Sunday's 43-21 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds missed some time during Week 2 while dealing with some cramping versus the Dolphins, but he was able to play every defensive snap Sunday against the Football Team. The 27-year-old had only seven total tackles through the first two games, though he was able to match that total Week 3.
Sep 22, 2021
Healthy for Week 3
Edmunds was back at practice on a full basis Wednesday after leaving Sunday's win over the Dolphins due to cramping.
ANALYSIS
As great of a day it was for the Bills in the 35-0 romp, Edmunds' trouble with the heat held him to only 57 percent of the defensive snaps and three total tackles. He stands to have a bigger presence in the box score this week, especially if Taylor Heinicke and the Washington offense tries to control the ball and keep Buffalo's high-powered offense off the field.
Sep 19, 2021
Questionable to return
Edmunds is questionable to return to Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Dolphins due to cramping, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2018 first-rounder left Sunday's game during the third quarter after he recorded three tackles (one solo) to begin the contest. Tyrel Dodson should fill in at middle linebacker in Edmunds' absence.
May 3, 2021
Gets fifth year in Buffalo
The Bills exercised Edmunds' $12.7 million fifth-year option for 2022 on Monday, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds will still be just 23 years old while playing out the 2021 season, and considering his production relative to age, picking up his fifth-year option was likely a no-brainer for the Bills. The move gives Buffalo additional time to negotiate a long-term deal with Edmunds, who looks primed to put together a fourth-straight campaign with over 100 tackles.
Jan 14, 2021
Ready for Saturday
Edmunds (hamstring) does not carry an injury designation for Saturday's game against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds managed to practice in full Thursday after having begun the week with back-to-back limited sessions. The star middle linebacker can safely be considered on track for his usual every-down defensive role during Saturday's divisional playoff game.
Jan 13, 2021
Back-to-back limited sessions
Edmunds (hamstring) was listed as limited again for Wednesday's practice session.
ANALYSIS
The Bills seem to be taking it easy on their banged-up stars, though we'll feel better that Edmunds is closer to full health if he can get in a full session in the team's final session of the week Thursday.
Jan 12, 2021
Limited Tuesday
Edmunds was listed as a limited participant Tuesday due to a hamstring issue.
ANALYSIS
The Bills took it easy on some other stars in the first practice of the week, so we wouldn't be too concerned about the middle linebacker's status for Saturday's divisional playoff game against the Ravens. Edmunds posted nine tackles and two passes defended in the win over the Colts.
Dec 17, 2020
Faces no limitations in practice
Edmunds (foot) was a full participant during Thursday's practice session.
ANALYSIS
With the Bills heading into Denver on a short week, it became more unnerving to see Edmunds arise on the injury report Tuesday and Wednesday. Now clear for Week 15 with a full practice session under his belt, the Virginia Tech product continues his bid for a second consecutive Pro-Bowl nod. Edmunds carries 97 tackles, three pass deflections and one sack into a matchup against the Broncos' No. 29 scoring offense.
Dec 16, 2020
Limited in Wednesday's session
Edmunds (foot) was limited in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds also received a limited designation in Tuesday's walk-through practice. He'll have one more chance to improve his participation level Thursday before Buffalo takes the field Saturday in Denver. Tyrel Dodson would fill in at middle linebacker if Edmunds is out or limited on game day.
Nov 10, 2020
Makes first sack of 2020
Edmunds recorded 11 tackles (eight solo), a sack and a pass breakup in Sunday's 44-34 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
For the third time this season, Edmunds reached double-digit tackles in a game, and the 22-year-old linebacker added his first sack of the year as well. With 63 stops through eight games, Edmunds will is comfortably on track for a third straight season with 100-plus tackles despite already missing a game.
Oct 21, 2020
Tallies 12 tackles
Edmunds had 12 tackles (eight solo) during Monday's 26-17 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old had only eight tackles over his first two games of the season, but he's combined for 33 tackles over the past three contests. Edmunds posted 121 tackles and 115 tackles in his first two seasons and is on pace for a similar total in 2020.
Oct 17, 2020
Cleared to play
Edmunds (shoulder) is absent from the Bills' final injury report ahead of Monday's matchup with the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds popped up on the injury report after practicing in limited fashion Friday. However, it looks like the Bills were simply erring on the side of caution with their starting middle linebacker. Look for him to take on his usual role assuming he avoids any setbacks.
Oct 16, 2020
Limited Friday
Edmunds was listed as a limited participant Friday due to shoulder issue, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
A shoulder issue kept Edminds out of the Week 2 game in Miami, but he's played through it since then. We're not sure if this related, or if it is, if he was given a lighter load Friday just to keep things safe in what's been a busy week for the Bills. With the team not playing until Monday, Saturday's session will likely be more telling for the Bills' leading linebacker in terms of tackles (29).
Oct 6, 2020
Highest tackle total of 2020
Edmunds totaled 12 tackles in Sunday's win over the Raiders while playing all 74 defensive snaps.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds looks like he's past the shoulder injury that slightly derailed the early part of his season, producing his biggest tackle output of the season and matching the highest he's ever put up in a single game as a pro. If teammate Matt Milano's pectoral injury keeps him out of further action, Edmunds would be even more likely to post continued elevated tackle totals.
Oct 1, 2020
Back to full practice
Edmunds (shoulder) practiced fully Thursday after being limited during Wednesday's session.
ANALYSIS
More specifically, the athletic middle linebacker shed his red no-contact jersey, meaning he should be a safe IDP play for this week's game against the Raiders.
Oct 1, 2020
Starts week limited
Edmunds (shoulder) was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The starting middle linebacker returned from a one-game absence for Week 3 and played all but one defensive play, so we assume the team is taking it easy on him to open the week, as coach Sean McDermott often does with his veterans. Edmunds tallied a modest five tackles in Sunday's win and was outplayed by fellow linebacker Matt Milano, who was returning from an injury of his own.
Sep 27, 2020
All clear Sunday
Edmunds (shoulder) is officially active for Sunday's game against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
It was reported earlier that Edmunds was expected to play in the contest after drawing a trio of limited practices last week, so this news isn't surprising. Now healthy, Edmunds is expected to assume his usual starting role as the team's middle linebacker.
Sep 27, 2020
Likely to suit up
Edmunds (shoulder), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, is expected to play, Kimberly Jones of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bills should be back to full strength at linebacker Week 3, as Matt Milano (hamstring) -- who is also listed as questionable -- is expected to return after a one-game absence. Edmunds was also sidelined for the Bills' Week 2 win over the Dolphins, marking only the second absence of his three-year career.
Sep 25, 2020
Draws questionable tag
Edmunds (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has put together a trio of limited practices this week, and it looks as though the final word on his status may not come until Buffalo's inactive list is revealed around 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. Fellow starter Matt Milano (hamstring) is also listed as questionable, so it remains possible that Buffalo's defense could once again be without its top two linebackers versus the Rams.
Sep 24, 2020
Inching toward return
Edmunds, who practiced Wednesday on a limited basis, is working agains Thursday while in a non-contact jersey, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds and Matt Milano -- the two best linebackers on the team -- both missed the Week 2 win over the Dolphins. While the substitutes performed adequately, it was clear there was something missing without the two main guys, and the stout Buffalo defense yielded some big yardage over the middle of the field throughout the game. Those that roster Tyler Higbee will want to keep an eye on the two linebackers' statuses the the Rams-Bills matchup following a game where Miami tight end Mike Giesicki torched the Buffalo defense for an 8-130-1 line.
Sep 23, 2020
Limited participant Wednesday
Edmunds (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds got some limited practices in last week as well, but he was ultimately held out of Sunday's win over Miami. With some extra recovery time under his belt, the middle linebacker will hope to raise his practice participation and get back in there against the Rams in Week 3.
Sep 18, 2020
Won't play Week 2
Coach Sean McDermott has ruled Edmunds (shoulder) out for Sunday's divisional match against the Dolphins, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
McDermott said that neither Edmunds nor position mate Matt Milano (hamstring) will practice Friday or suit up Sunday. With both starting linebackers sidelined, it looks like Tyrel Dodson and Tyler Matakevich will be thrust into the lineup in Miami. The opportunity that Dodson and Matakevich should receive makes them both emergency options in IDP formats. Starter A.J. Klein will also see the field a lot more this week.
Sep 17, 2020
Limited Thursday
Edmunds (shoulder) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds was either limited or just did some exercising during Wednesday's section, so even though he wore a no-contact jersey Thursday, he appears to be trending toward at least trying to play through the injury Sunday in Miami. We'll see if Edmunds is limited or full Friday. Teammate and fellow starter Matt Milano has been unable to practice on any level so far this week.
Sep 16, 2020
Not practicing Wednesday
Edmunds, who left Sunday's game with a shoulder injury, is not practicing Wednesday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Sean McDermott made it sound as if Edmunds was close to getting on the field in his pre-practice comments, so we wouldn't be surprised if Edmunds is able to try some limited work Thursday or Friday in an attempt to get ready for the Week 2 divisional showdown against the Dolphins.
Sep 14, 2020
Injury not too serious
Coach Sean McDermott said Edmunds (shoulder) is day-to-day Monday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds exited early in Week 1's win over the Jets, and McDermott doesn't believe this will be a long-term injury. It appears the 22-year-old linebacker could be ready by Sunday's divisional matchup against the Dolphins, and his Wednesday practice report will be more telling.
Sep 13, 2020
Exits with shoulder injury
Edmunds (shoulder) is questionable to return for the team's Week 1 matchup against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear how Edmunds sustained the injury, but any extended absence would be a big blow to the Bills' defense. It's likely that the team will take a cautious approach with Edmunds in the hope that he can return in Week 2 against the Dolphins.
Sep 2, 2020
Earns high praise
Coach Sean McDermott mentioned Edmunds as a player that's exceeded expectations throughout training camp, Dante Lasting of the Bills' official site reports. Said the coach, "To watch his maturity and growth over the course of the offseason on the field and off the field. He seems very comfortable in his own whereabouts in terms of what we're doing scheme-wise and is very confident as a leader in our locker room. The interesting part about that is we haven't really been around one another [this offseason]. S
ANALYSIS
Edmunds is entering his third year with the team and will play all three downs in a defense he's comfortable with. After posting 121 and 115 tackles in his first two seasons, he seems like a sure bet -- assuming good health -- to post another triple-digit tackle season. Edmunds only recorded one turnover in 2019, so perhaps some of his hard work will get him back toward his four-turnover total from his 2018 rookie season.
Aug 26, 2020
All clear at practice
Edmunds (hip) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds has been hampered by lingering hip soreness during training camp, but seems to be well enough to practice. The hope is that the hip soreness won't cause the third-year pro to miss regular-season action, and as of right now, it doesn't look like that will be the case.
Aug 24, 2020
Still limited
Edmunds was limited during Monday's practice session due to lingering hip soreness, Kimberly Jones of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jones was told that the third-year linebacker would have played a full game had it been an NFL Sunday, so it's expected Edmunds will build up his reps as the week goes on.
Aug 24, 2020
Back to work
Edmunds (hip) returned to practice Sunday after sitting out the last couple of days, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Linebacker is one of the few positions where the Bills lack major depth, but it sounds like their key middle man will be fine moving forward.
Aug 21, 2020
Sits out Friday's practice
Edmunds (hip) didn't participate in Friday's practice, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds is the centerpiece of last year's second-ranked defense, as he has piled up a combined 236 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 21 pass breakups over his first two seasons in the league. There's no real replacement for the 22-year-old's talents, but for the time being, Tyler Matakevich is next in line for first-team reps.
Jan 30, 2020
Back-to-back 100-tackle seasons
Edmunds posted 115 total tackles to go with 1.5 sacks, nine passes defensed and an interception in 2019.
ANALYSIS
Edmunds is a true three-down linebacker, almost never leaving the field and possessing more size and athleticism than most middle linebackers in the league. He's a smart player with NFL bloodlines -- his father and two brothers have all played in the league -- but he still has a little bit to learn, as evidenced by the low turnover total and the fact that he was out of position on a key play in the team's playoff loss to the Texans. He should be a mainstay on the Bills' strong defense for years to come, and there's little reason he won't see a third triple-digit tackle season in 2020.
