Franklin's unremarkable finish to preseason is largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of his 2025 outlook, as the Oregon product is set to open the season as the No. 3 receiver. Franklin recorded a pair of touchdown catches among his four grabs in last Saturday's preseason win over the Cardinals, which, when coupled with what was by all accounts an impressive training camp, leaves him poised for a fast start to his second campaign.

Franklin put together an impressive training camp following an underwhelming 2024 rookie campaign, but the Oregon product could well be poised for an incremental boost in Year 2 while working with college teammate Bo Nix as his quarterback.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Friday that Franklin is "having a good camp," Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

Payton similarly praised Franklin during mandatory minicamp in June, saying that the second-year wideout looked "extremely explosive." DiLalla notes that Franklin has worked both at the Z receiver and in the slot during training camp, which could factor into his allotted snap count once the regular season begins. Courtland Sutton is locked in as Denver's No. 1 receiver, but behind him, Franklin is among a group vying for position in the pecking order. Marvin Mims, Devaughn Vele and rookie third-round pick Pat Bryant are also among those aiming for a prominent role.

Broncos coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Franklin had a good spring, looking "extremely explosive" and "about five pounds heavier," Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Franklin had 2,274 receiving yards and 23 TDs over his final two seasons at Oregon, but he fell to the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft after checking in at just 172 pounds at the combine -- an unheard of weight for a 6-foot-2 wide receiver in the NFL. He's still among the thinnest players at his position, and coming off a low-impact rookie year with 263 yards on 53 targets, but Franklin may nonetheless be part of the competition this summer for Denver's Nos. 2 and 3 WR spots behind top target Courtland Sutton. The competition includes Marvin Mims, Devaughn Vele and rookie third-round pick Pat Bryant.

Franklin's rookie campaign was relatively quiet, as the Oregon product played just 365 offensive snaps across the 16 games he appeared in. Playing in the No. 4 wide receiver role, the 21-year-old played over 50 percent of snaps in a contest just once this season. Franklin's limited role and lack of experience certain capped his potential this season, but his continued development should be a positive sign for the fourth-round pick. Additionally, quarterback Bo Nix has played well as a rookie and should continue to develop alongside Franklin, his college teammate. With more experience, Franklin could see his role increase in 2025 as a member of Denver's young receiving corps.

Franklin secured one of two targets for minus-1 yard in Saturday's 30-24 loss to the Bengals.

Franklin was a complete non-factor in Saturday's contest, with his one catch and 33 percent snap share counting for his lowest totals in each category since Week 10. The rookie wideout is not being utilized consistently enough to be trusted for fantasy purposes, though he should continue to build upon his chemistry with his college teammate Bo Nix to develop in the Broncos' offense going forward. Franklin should remain off the fantasy radar, however, heading into a Week 18 matchup against Kansas City.

Franklin's chemistry with quarterback Bo Nix from their time at Oregon has helped him to garner steady targets throughout the season, but he isn't seeing enough volume to be trusted for fantasy purposes. The 21-year-old heads into the Broncos' Week 14 bye with a total of 21 catches for 218 yards and two touchdowns through 12 games. The Broncos will return from the bye to host the Colts on Dec. 15.

Though Franklin's development thus far has been a positive sign for his future NFL success, his limited usage makes him unreliable for fantasy purposes. The Broncos head to Las Vegas for a matchup with the Raiders in Week 12.

Franklin recorded just one catch for the third-straight contest, as the rookie has played snap percentages of 40 percent or less in that stretch. The 21-year-old has seen his usage diminish as quarterback Bo Nix has consistently spread the ball around in recent weeks. As Franklin's connection with Nix is already established from their time playing together at Oregon, the wideout should see his role improve in Denver's offense as he continues to develop in the NFL. However, barring injuries, Franklin should be difficult to trust going forward to see enough looks in the passing game to make him viable for fantasy purposes on a weekly basis. He'll look to get more involved in a Week 11 matchup against the Falcons.

Franklin will look to bounce back in Week 10, albeit in a tough matchup against the division-rival Chiefs.

Franklin secured five of six targets for 50 yards in the Broncos' 33-10 win over the Saints on Thursday night.

Franklin led the Broncos across the board in receiving stats, setting the pace in receptions, receiving yards and targets. The rookie also tallied a team-high 30-yard catch, and all of his metrics Thursday qualified as season/career highs. The one time college teammate of Bo Nix appears to be upping his NFL chemistry with him heading into a favorable Week 8 home matchup against the Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 27.

Despite his increased involvement, Franklin's position on the depth chart with an inefficient passing attack both work against him in his ability to produce for fantasy purposes. The 21-year-old Oregon product will continue to be difficult to trust in a Week 4 matchup against the Jets.

Frankin failed to secure his lone target in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Steelers.

After being a healthy scratch in Week 1, Franklin was a complete non-factor against the Steelers in Week 2. The rookie wideout saw the field for 12 of the Broncos' 61 offensive snaps, and he was unable to connect with his former college quarterback Bo Nix on the one target thrown his direction. Buried on the depth chart in a struggling passing attack, Franklin should remain far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 3 matchup with the Buccaneers.

With that said, Franklin will likely have an uphill battle for consistent usage behind Courtland Sutton, Josh Reynolds and Marvin Mims when all three are healthy.

Bo Nix, his college quarterback, was named the starter ahead of Week 1, so the history the two have with one another could bode well for the 6-foot-3, 180-pound receiver. In addition, it appears the Broncos will cut ties with veteran wideout Tim Patrick ahead of the 2024 campaign, according to Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post. With final roster cuts upcoming, Franklin is positioned to make the 53-man roster in a depth role behind Courtland Sutton, Josh Reynolds and Marvin Mims.
