Inactive again for Week 10
Mallory (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Falcons in Berlin.
ANALYSIS
Mallory has been a regular on the Colts' inactive list, having suited up for just one game all season (Week 5 against the Raiders) and playing five total snaps in that contest. He'll continue to be in street clothes on game days so long as the Colts' top three tight ends -- Tyler Warren, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree -- are all available.
Sep 28, 2025
Inactive for Week 4
Mallory (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
The third-year tight end has yet to garner active status this season through four games. Mallory is a clear No. 4 on the depth chart for the time being, slotting in behind star first-round rookie Tyler Warren and veterans Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree.
Sep 14, 2025
Healthy scratch Week 2
Mallory (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Mallory will be a healthy scratch for a second straight week, and his next chance to play is Week 3 against the Titans on Sunday, Sept. 21. Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree will serve as the Colts' backup tight ends behind rookie first-rounder Tyler Warren.
Sep 7, 2025
Healthy inactive
Mallory is inactive for Sunday's season opener against Miami due to a coach's decision, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Mallory had a good showing in training camp by all accounts, but he enters the season fourth on the depth chart at tight end and may not be active most game days. Mallory has receiving skills, but no tight end other than Tyler Warren may be a significant factor in the passing game.
Aug 18, 2025
Having strong training camp
Mallory had one reception for 11 yards on three targets in Saturday's preseason loss to Green Bay. He's had an impressive training camp that could help him win a roster spot, 93.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
ANALYSIS
If the Colts keep four tight ends, Mallory is likely battling Jelani Woods and Drew Ogletree for the final spot. Mallory has showed off his receiving ability in training camp, but no tight end other than Tyler Warren may be a significant factor in the passing game.

Takes step back Year 2
Mallory secured four of eight targets for 29 yards across 10 regular-season appearances with the Colts in 2024.
ANALYSIS
Mallory played two less games in 2024 than as a rookie, though in 2023 he saw 26 targets (versus eight in 2024) and played 153 offensive snaps (versus 90 in 2024). He concluded the 2024 campaign as a healthy scratch. Kylen Granson and Mo Alie-Cox are both pending free agents, so Mallory could be counted on to handle a larger role in 2025, but he may need a strong offseason in order to regain this coaching staff's trust.
Dec 29, 2024
Won't play against Big Blue
Mallory (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Mallory played in the Colts' last three games and logged one catch (on two targets) for seven yards over that span. However, the 2023 fifth-round pick will be a healthy scratch for Week 17 as Indianapolis goes with Drew Ogletree, Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson as its three active tight ends. Mallory's next chance to play will be in the Colts' regular-season finale against the Jaguars next weekend.
Nov 17, 2024
Healthy scratch for Week 11
Mallory (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Mallory appeared in each of the Colts' last seven games, totaling three receptions on six targets for 22 yards across 65 offensive snaps. Mo Alie-Cox, Kylen Granson and Drew Ogletree are the Colts' active tight ends for Week 11.
Oct 21, 2024
Gets second reception of season
Mallory had one reception for five yards on his lone target in Sunday's win over Miami.
ANALYSIS
Mallory was the only indy tight end with a reception amid an anemic passing attack under quarterback Anthony Richardson. Mallory played just four snaps on offense and is No. 4 on the depth chart among tight ends, so his upside is limited in the offense.
Oct 7, 2024
Gets first reception of season
Mallory had one reception for seven yards on his only target in Sunday's loss at Jacksonville. It was his first reception this season.
ANALYSIS
After being inactive the first three games, he's played the last two games. He played on 16 of the offense's 70 snaps and went out on 13 routes. The Colts continue to divide targets and snaps between three or four tight ends (Kylen Granson played 18 snaps, Mo Alie-Cox played 29, Drew Ogletree played 26). As long as the workload is divided between three our four tight ends, none will have viable fantasy value for most formats.
Sep 29, 2024
Slated to make season debut
Mallory is active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Mallory has yet to play this season. With Jelani Woods (toe) on injured reserve, snaps are available at tight end in Indianapolis. However, Mallory remains behind Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree on the depth chart.
Sep 8, 2024
Inactive against Houston
Mallory is inactive for Sunday's game against Houston.
ANALYSIS
With Mallory inactive and Jelani Woods out for the season with a toe injury, Indy's tight-end group has been narrowed to Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree. Mallory could still enter the mix at some point this season.
Aug 27, 2024
Makes 53-man roster
Mallory has made Indianapolis' 53-man roster.
ANALYSIS
Mallory missed time early in training camp due to a sore hamstring but is healthy as the regular season begins. Mallory appeared in 12 games as a rookie last season, and the 2023 fifth-round draft pick out of Miami caught 18 of 26 targets for 207 yards. Mallory will be part of a four-man committee at tight end that also includes Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Olgetree. The Colts are likely to split targets between the foursome.
Aug 12, 2024
Two receptions in preseason opener
Mallory had two receptions for 31 yards on two targets in Sunday's preseason loss to Denver.
ANALYSIS
Mallory had missed time in training camp due to a sore hamstring, but looked back to full speed. He's competing with Jelani Woods, Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree for playing time in a deep tight end room that lacks a clear No. 1 option. Indy's first preseason game did little to sort the competition other than all five are healthy.
Aug 9, 2024
Back at practice
Mallory (hamstring) was back practicing Friday, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Mallory's hamstring injury from the Colts' 2023 season has lingered over to preparation for this upcoming year, but he's now moving in the right direction with a return to practice. The capacity that the 6-foot-4 tight end was able to participate Friday was not disclosed, which makes it unknown whether he'll be able to play in Sunday's preseason game against Denver.
Jul 31, 2024
Dealing with hamstring injury
Mallory did not participate in Wednesday's practice session due to a hamstring injury, Joel Erickson of IndyStar.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear whether Mallory's current hamstring injury is in the same leg that caused him to finish the 2023 sidelined. A return to the practice field is crucial for Mallory, as he's competing with Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree for a backup spot at tight end behind presumptive starter Jelani Woods.
May 28, 2024
Back on field
Mallory (hamstring) participated in OTAs last week.
ANALYSIS
Mallory finished the 2023 campaign sidelined by an injury, but it appears the 2023 fifth-round selection has fully recovered. Although he was able to contribute 18 receptions and 207 yards in 12 games during his rookie campaign, he faces a crowded tight end room in Indianapolis with the return of Jelani Woods from a Hamstring injury, as well as holdovers Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree.
Jan 8, 2024
Flashes receiving skills as rookie
Mallory drew one target in Saturday's 23-19 loss versus the Texans but did not haul it in.
ANALYSIS
Over 12 games in his rookie season, Mallory recorded 18 receptions for 207 yards on 26 targets. As a prospect, he profiled as something resembling an oversized wide-receiver more so than a traditional tight end at 6-foot-4 239 lbs. That's exactly how the Colts utilized him in 2023, and at least from an efficiency standpoint, he fared decently well.
Jan 6, 2024
Won't return to Saturday's game
Mallory hurt his hamstring in Saturday's contest against Houston and has been ruled out from returning.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear when Mallory suffered the injury, but he was ruled out during the second quarter. The rookie didn't catch his only target prior to his departure. The Colts will be down to Kylen Granson and Mo Alie-Cox at tight end for the remainder of the matchup.
Jan 1, 2024
Just one reception in win
Mallory had one reception for 19 yards on his only target in Sunday's win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Mallory played just nine snaps on offense and went out on six routes, a week after he had four receptions for 47 yards on four targets. With Indy playing with a lead most of the game, Mallory was sidelined for better blocking tight ends.
Dec 26, 2023
Four receptions in loss
Mallory had four receptions for 47 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss at Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
The Colts featured Kylen Granson (5 receptions for 62 yards) and Mallory in the passing game with Michael Pittman sidelined with a concussion. The duo were the top two Colts in receiving yards, which is more of a sign of how the Indy passing game struggled. Mallory played on 27 of the offense's 71 snaps and went out on 22 routes. Granson played 28 snaps on offense and went on 18 routes. Drew Ogletree played just 17 snaps and Mo Alie-Cox played just 19 snaps. Each week a different player seems to be the leading receiver among tight ends, so it's hard to count on any for fantasy production.
Dec 18, 2023
No receptions in win
Mallory did not have a catch or target in Saturday's win over Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Just when it looked like Mallory may emerge as the top receiving tight end in the offense with 9 receptions the prior three games, he fell to fourth in playing time among tight ends. Drew Olgetree played on 38 of the offense's 67 snaps with Mo Alie-Cox playing on 35 snaps, Kylen Granson playing 20 snaps and Will Mallory playing 8 snaps. Indy's distribution of targets in the passing game changes almost randomly each week and is divided up among three to four players, making none much of an option for most fantasy formats.
Dec 11, 2023
Five receptions in loss
Mallory had five receptions for 46 yards on five targets in Sunday's loss at Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Mallory played fewer snaps and ran fewer routes than Kylen Granson but had a bigger game in the passing game. The Colts spread out playing time fairly evenly among tight ends as Mallory played on 20 of the offense's 62 snaps, while starter Granson played on 24 snaps, Drew Ogleree played on 17 snaps and Mo Alie-Cox played on 19 snaps (and caught a TD). While Mallory is trending upward with 9 receptions in his last three games, it's very hard to predict which Colts tight end will be productive each week.
Dec 4, 2023
Two receptions in win
Mallory had two receptions for four yards on four targets in Sunday's overtime win at Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
A week after being a starter, Mallory was fourth among tight ends n playing time with 13 snaps on offense. All four tight ends (Kylen Granson, Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox) went on between 12 to 13 routes. It's hard to forecast any of the tight ends having a consistent role in the passing game as a result.
Nov 27, 2023
Gets start at TE
Mallory started at tight end and had two receptions for 29 yards on three targets in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Mallory was a surprise starter since he's been inactive most weeks. He led the Indy tight ends in routes run (21 routes to Kylen Granson's 16 and Mo Alie-Cox's 13) though he was third in snaps played on offense (27 snaps to 34 for Alie-Cox and 31 for Granson). No tight end in Indianapolis has much fantasy value given how rarely they are utilized in the passing offense and how the targets are split three ways, but it's worth monitoring whether Mallory's increased usage is a trend.
Nov 5, 2023
Inactive Sunday
Mallory (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With Kylen Granson back in the mix after missing two games, Mallory will be the odd man out in a Colts' Week 9 tight end corps that also includes Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox. Through four contests to date, Mallory has caught three of his six targets for 55 yards.
Oct 30, 2023
Just one reception
Mallory had one reception for six yards on two targets in Sunday's loss to New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Mallory played on 15 of of the offense's 71 snaps. He went out for a pass on all 15 of his snaps, which was the second most routes among the tight ends (Drew Ogletree had 20 and Mo Alie-Cox had 13). However, that usage doesn't translate to many fantasy points as the Colts don't use tight ends much in the passing game and divide the targets among multiple tight ends.
Oct 23, 2023
Plays just nine snaps
Mallory did not have a reception on his lone target in Sunday's loss to Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
He played nine snaps on offense as Drew Ogletree started at tight end with Kylen Granson out with a concussion and Jelani Woods still on injured reserve. Mo Alie-Cox had the only reception among tight ends in the loss as the tight ends ran few routes as they were needed as blockers against Cleveland's strong pass rush. Mallory is inactive most games and could return to the bench if either Granson or Woods is able to return next week.
Oct 2, 2023
Stuck on bench
Mallory was a healthy inactive for Sunday's loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Mallory played 11 offensive snaps in Week 2 against the Texans when he caught two passes for 49 yards, but he's been inactive on game day the last two weeks.
Sep 24, 2023
Inactive Sunday
Mallory is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Mallory is a healthy scratch for Week 3 with Andrew Ogletree returning from concussion protocols. Mallory played 11 offensive snaps in Week 2 against the Texans when he caught two passes for 49 yards.
Sep 18, 2023
Two receptions in NFL debut
Mallory had two receptions for 49 yards on two targets in Sunday's win at Houston.
ANALYSIS
Mallory was a healthy inactive Week 1, but the 2023 fifth-round draft pick got playing time with Andrew Ogletree (concussion/coach's decision) out. He played on 11 of the offense's 57 snaps compared to 37 snaps for Kylen Granson and 23 snaps for Mo Alie-Cox. Still, Mallory had a rapport with backup Gardner Menshew and it's possible he could become the breakout receiver of a deep tight end mix. However, it's more likely none of the Colts tight ends get enough work in the passing game to be viable in most fantasy formats.
Sep 17, 2023
Available to make NFL debut
Mallory is active for Sunday's matchup against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
A rookie fifth-round pick, Mallory was a healthy scratch for Week 1, but with Andrew Ogletree (concussion/coach's decision) out, he'll have a chance to make his NFL debut versus Houston. Starting tight end Kylen Granson may be limited due to a recent hamstring injury, so Mallory could see a handful of snaps in a depth role behind Granson and Mo Alie-Cox.
Sep 10, 2023
Won't debut Week 1
Mallory (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Mallory was taken by the Colts in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. His next opportunity to make his NFL debut will come in Week 2 against the Texans on Sept. 17.
Aug 20, 2023
Two receptions in preseason debut
Mallory had two receptions for 29 yards on two targets in Saturday's preseason win over Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Mallory missed the preseason opener with a hamstring injury but had a nice showing working with the second- and third-string units. The 2023 fifth-round draft pick faces an uphill battle to win a roster spot amid a crowded tight end position, but he could open the season on the active roster with Mo Alie-Cox (ankle), Jelani Woods (hamstring) and Andrew Ogletree (knee) all sidelined.
Aug 16, 2023
Returns to practice
Mallory (hamstring) returned to practice Tuesday, the Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Mo Alie-Cox (ankle), Jelani Woods (hamstring) and Drew Ogletree (knee) remain sidelined, so Mallory could get extra work in this week's preseason game if he's able to play. The 24-year-old, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 Draft, is likely competing with Mo Alie-Cox and Pharaoh Brown for the team's No. 3 TE spot.
Aug 13, 2023
Misses game with hamstring injury
Mallory (hamstring) did not play in Saturday's preseason loss at Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
Mallory started camp on the active/PUP list due to a foot injury, but then suffered a hamstring injury and missed practice time last week. It's not clear how long he'll be out. The 24-year-old, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 Draft, is likely competing with Mo Alie-Cox and Pharaoh Brown for the team's No. 3 TE spot.
Aug 6, 2023
Suffers new injury
Mallory missed practice Saturday due to a hamstring injury, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Mallory started camp on the PUP list due to a foot injury, but he was able to pass a physical and be activated Monday. However, he'll now potentially miss more time as he'll work to recover from his hamstring injury. The 24-year-old, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 Draft, is likely competing with Mo Alie-Cox and Pharaoh Brown for the team's No. 3 tight-end spot.
Jul 31, 2023
Coming off PUP
The Colts removed Mallory (foot) from the PUP list Monday morning, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-round pick can now join his teammates in practice after missing the first week of training camp. Mallory injured his foot during the offseason program and now faces an uphill battle to earn a Week 1 role for a team with Jelani Woods, Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Pharaoh Brown at tight end.
Jul 25, 2023
Still nursing injury
Mallory (foot) will begin training camp on the PUP list, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2023 fifth-round pick has been dealing with a foot injury since the beginning of June, but it seems as if progress has been made. Indianapolis' general manager, Chris Ballard, told reporters that this is more precautionary than anything, and Mallory should be back soon. Once the rookie returns, expect him to compete for a depth role amongst a talented group of Colts' tight ends ahead of the coming season.
Jun 2, 2023
Remains sidelined at practice
Mallory (foot) was spotted in a boot on Friday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Mallory is dealing with right foot/ankle injury and was sidelined at practice Friday. The tight-end was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and is expected to compete for a reserve role behind Jelani Woods (hamstring) this season.
Apr 29, 2023
Joins crowded TE group in Indy
The Colts selected Mallory in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 162nd overall.
ANALYSIS
Indianapolis already has one of the more crowded tight end rooms in the NFL and it gets even more so with the addition of Mallory out of Miami (FL). That said, Mallory is a different type of tight end than most of the other options in Indianapolis; he's on the smaller side (6-4, 239) in terms of frame but he was a solid producer in college with 14 career touchdowns and 115 receptions. Mallory also turned in a solid combine (4.54 40, 36-inch vertical). It's unclear how exactly Indianapolis will use him because he won't help much as a blocker, but perhaps he could earn reps as a big slot option.
