There’s plenty to like on the mound as well. Kyle Bradish has the tools to put together a Cy Young-caliber season, while arms like Shane Baz and Taylor Rogers add another layer of depth
This isn’t a team coming out of nowhere, either. They won 91 games in 2024. Don’t count them out.
Detroit Tigers (+2500)
Detroit is one of the more intriguing longshot options, especially after how close they came to a breakthrough last season. This is a team that was on the doorstep of the ALCS, and with a few key upgrades, they’re in a position to take another step forward.
It starts with Tarik Skubal, who has firmly established himself as one of the best pitchers in baseball. He’s the type of ace who can carry a team through a postseason series, giving the Tigers a legitimate foundation at the top of their rotation. Bringing in Framber Valdez only strengthens that group, adding another proven arm with big-game experience and durability.
There’s also a lot to be excited about with the young talent coming through. Kevin McGonigle headlines a wave of prospects that could inject even more energy into this roster as the season progresses, giving Detroit both upside and depth.
This could be Skubal’s final year in Detroit, so there’s a sense of urgency here. Perhaps they’ll even load up at the deadline.
