Monday night features two college football parlays, and we’re confident about both of them. The Miami Hurricanes will battle the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers, one of the most storied Cinderella stories in college football lore.
Let’s discuss this week’s best college football picks and wrap up the season in winning style!
College Football National Championship Best Parlay (+288) at Bovada
Leg 1: Indiana (-330)
Indiana opened as a seven-point favorite, but that number is long gone and impossible to find at this point. The public has already battered the books with Indiana money, which meant the oddsmakers not only had to come off of the magic 7 but also punch it up to as high as 8½ and even nine at some shops.
Although I’m not necessarily disagreeing that the Hoosiers will romp over the Canes, I am willing to take the safe route and bet them on the moneyline as long as it is included in a parlay and there is no enormous vig to be risked, as it will only cut down our potential winnings.
Leg 2: Fernando Mendoza Over 1.5 Touchdown Passes (-165)
The Heisman Trophy-winning junior for Indiana will likely be the first player chosen in April’s NFL Draft, assuming he declares. And the reason for all of Mendoza’s fame and fortune is his propensity to throw touchdown passes, 41 to be precise, which equals 2.73 TD passes per game.
He had five touchdowns last week against Oregon, and this Canes’ pass defense is ranked 62nd in the nation in aerial yards allowed and 110th in the number of completions. Go over on this college player prop on Mendoza’s passing TDs.
Leg 3: Will Elijah Sarratt Score a Touchdown (-117)
The Hoosiers have had one of the most jaw-dropping seasons in college football history, and much has been rightfully made of Fernando Mendoza’s on-field heroics. However, 6’2″ senior Elijah Serratt, who has caught a team-leading 15 touchdowns this season, has been the object of his aerial affection.
Sarratt has averaged one receiving TD per game and caught a pair in his last performance against Oregon. Don’t sweat this bet; just add Elijah Serrat to your college football parlays on Monday night.
College Football National Championship Longshot Parlay (+2072) at Bovada
Leg 1: Elijah Sarratt Score the First Touchdown (+600)
Fernando Mendoza has the luxury of many talented options on his team, but the sure-handed Elijah Sarratt is one of his first looks on his checkdown series. At +600, let’s take a flier that Sarratt will be the first to break the plane of the end zone before anyone else on Championship Monday.Â
Leg 2: Kaelon Black Over 11.5 Rushes (-110)
It’s no secret that Roman Hemby gets the lion’s share of the carries in the Hoosiers’ backfield, but not by much. Where Hemby averages 14 carries per game, Kaelon Black runs the rock an average of 11.3 times per game. Thus, the oddsmakers are setting approximate lines for each player’s rushing prop based on their average carries.
Yet, over the past four games, Black has become more integrated into the offense and is averaging nearly 14 rushes per game. Let’s watch that trend continue and go over 11.5 in this one.
Leg 3: Carson Beck Over 0.5 Interceptions (-160)
Miami quarterback Carson Beck has tossed 11 interceptions this season, and it just so happens that the Indiana defense is ranked 13th in the nation in that category and averages 1.2 picks per game. Let’s bet that the Indiana pass rush rattles Beck and forces him to throw at least one pick on Monday night.
