College Football Picks for Week 8: Oct 13-19

Ryan Williams #2 of the Alabama Crimson Tide scores a 19 yard touchdown against the Wisconsin Badgers

Let’s discuss our top three live NCAAF picks for Week 8 as we get an early jump on the NCAAF odds and take advantage of those important numbers. Last week, we went 3-0 ATS with Ohio State -16, Indiana +10, and Georgia -5.

As many of you know, Indiana shocked No. Oregon in a 30-20 upset while Arch Manning and the Longhorns got some redemption by upsetting No. 6 Oklahoma, vaulting Texas back in the national rankings.

Lastly, there were four other upsets when No. 15 fell to USC, while No. 21 Arizona State, No. 22 Iowa State, and No. 25 Florida State were all defeated by unranked teams.

But that was then, this is now, let’s analyze three of Saturday’s marquee matchups in which we circled No. 17 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Ole Miss, and No. 6 Alabama as our top NCAAF picks Week 8, and their corresponding odds that can be found at all the best licensed US sportsbooks, right here, at OddsTrader’s live odds platform.

This week we have:

  • Vanderbilt -2 ½
  • Ole Miss +6 ½
  • Alabama -8

Let’s start with the LSU-Vanderbilt matchup and find the best value for this week.

LSU Tigers vs. Vanderbilt Commodores (-2½)

Saturday, October 18, 2025 – 12:00 PM EDT

For years, Vanderbilt has been the laughingstock of the SEC, but this year is different. Very different. The renaissance has been led by quarterback Diego Pavia, a sub-six-foot quarterback who relishes proving people wrong. He transferred from New Mexico State to Vandy last year, and all he did was toss 20 TD passes against four picks and ramble for 800 rushing yards with eight TDs.

He is on track for similar stats this year, and although Vanderbilt suffered their first loss of the season in a 30-14 defeat to Bama last week, they kept it close to LSU last year in a 24-17 loss but covered as 10-point road dogs.

These teams are fairly even, as both teams are 5-1 straight up, but this year the game will be played in Nashville, the home of the Commodores. This is a golden opportunity for Vandy to pay the Tigers back for years of abuse, and laying less than a field goal looks good to me for our first prediction!

Expert Pick: Vanderbilt -2 ½ (-110) at Caesars

Ole Miss Rebels vs. Georgia Bulldogs (-6 ½)

Saturday, October 18, 2025 – 3:30 PM EDT

Ole Miss has won and covered two of the last three meetings with Georgia, including last year’s 28-10 win over the Bulldogs. And although they will be in Georgia’s sandbox this year, the Rebels have one of the most explosive offenses in the nation.

Ole Miss is ranked 8th in passing yardage, averaging 311 yards per game, and that’s where they will expose Georgia’s pedestrian secondary, currently ranked 60th against the pass, surrendering over 215 yards per game.

This is where the Rebels will shine, and getting nearly a touchdown head start feels like a gift despite Georgia getting the home-field advantage.

Expert Pick: Ole Miss +6 ½ (-110) at Caesars

Tennessee Volunteers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide (-8)

Saturday, October 18, 2025 – 7:30 PM EDT

Bama had defeated the Vols on seven consecutive occasions until the last three years, where the Tide is just 1-2 against Tennessee. This will be a revenge spot for the Tide that lost 24-17 to the Volunteers last season and failed to cover as 3½ point road chalk.

Alabama lost its first game of the season to FSU as 13½ point favorites. It was embarrassing for the new head coach, Kalen DeBoer, who took over for the legendary Nick Saban. However, since then, Alabama has not only won five straight but also covered in all of them.

Tennessee is also 5-1 but has failed to cover in four consecutive games. I feel like the Vols are a paper tiger and not ready for primetime. Alabama will be at home and ready to atone for its loss last season, so take the Crimson Tide for our final NCAAF pick for Week 8.

Expert Pick: Alabama -8 (-110) at Caesars
