EPL 2025-26 Season Preview: Liverpool Eyes Historic Title Defense

Liverpool fans applaud as Liverpool's Uruguayan striker #09 Darwin Nunez leaves the pitch after being substituted off during a game between Liverpool and Athletic Bilbao.

The English Premier League is less than three weeks away from first kickoff, and we believe we could be in for one of the most exciting seasons yet.

Liverpool won the title last season by a total of 10 points over Arsenal and 13 points more than 3rd placed Manchester City.

Liverpool remain the sportsbooks‘ favorite ahead of this season at EPL betting odds of -145, with Arsenal +210 and Manchester City +290. The sportsbooks seem to think last season’s top three will also be this year’s top three based on the odds.

Check out who we believe are the best value bets to win the league, make the top four, and avoid relegation.

Who Won’t Beat the Drop?

Of the 20 teams competing in the EPL, only 17 are guaranteed to remain in the league the following season, with the bottom three teams getting dropped into the Championship. The top three teams in the Championship head up to the Premier League.

So, which team do we believe is the best value to bet on to get relegated this season?

In general, 2 of the 3 promoted teams get relegated. This season, all three teams that were promoted are the top three favorites to be relegated, but we believe we have found value elsewhere.

Take a look at betting on Brentford to be relegated at +300 EPL betting odds. Brentford have lost their manager, Thomas Frank, to Tottenham Hotspur, and the “Bees” have also lost one of their key players in Bryan Mbeumo to Man United and Cristian Norgaard to Arsenal.

A lot of Brentford’s strength came from their coach. Without him, we feel they won’t be as strong, and although they will continue to play the same way under coach Keith Andrews, we don’t have much faith in his ability to spearhead this approach. We could be proven wrong, but we feel Brentford will struggle, and we like their +300 odds to do so.

Who Can Sneak Into the Top 4?

Originally, we liked Chelsea to finish inside the top four (and believe us, we still do) but their odds dramatically dropped from +250 to -140 over the span of a few weeks because they are starting to prove how strong they are getting, with one of the best runs towards the end of last season, along with two trophies (the Conference League and the Club World Cup).

Chelsea are on the up, and they could be worth a sneaky few dollars to finish inside the top 2 at +350.

There are a few teams in the hunt for the top four race at plus money. Newcastle United are +300, while Aston Villa and Manchester United are +500. All three teams will be dangerous this season for a top-four spot, but our money would go on an even bigger outsider, Tottenham Hotspur at +650.

Not because we believe so much in Tottenham, but their new manager, Thomas Frank, worked miracles with very little at Brentford in their “Moneyball” system. Now that Frank has some quality players and a much bigger transfer Budget, he might shock a lot of people with Tottenham this season.

  • Top 4 Finish: Tottenham Hotspur (+650)

Can Liverpool Hold Onto Premier League Title?

It’s going to be a tough season for Liverpool as they try to hold back Arsenal, Manchester City, and probably Chelsea too.

With that being said, Liverpool has been active in the transfer market, bringing in Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike for a combined 220 million, along with two defenders for a combined 90 million. Liverpool will be dangerous and could win the league, but we don’t like their odds at -140.

It’s too low to be betting on any future market, plus we do think there’s better value elsewhere, as Arsenal and Manchester City will be much better this season. Half the reason Liverpool won the league so easily last time out was because of Arsenal and Manchester City’s below-par performances on more than a few occasions.

For our money, Arsenal are the best bet at +210. The Gunners have bought well thus far in the transfer market with Victor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi joining, as well as Christian Norgaard.

Arsenal will no doubt finish inside the top three, most likely the top two, and they’re the best value for money. They should push the winner very close, should they fail to win the title (yet again).

  • Premier League Winner: Arsenal (+210)

Final Thoughts

The 2025–26 Premier League season is shaping up to be a wild ride. From Brentford’s potential downfall to Tottenham’s under-the-radar top 4 run, and Arsenal’s growing title credentials, the value is out there if you know where to look.
