The John Deere Classic is one of the easier tests of the year and the last event before the PGA Tour heads across the Atlantic Ocean for the Scottish Open, followed by the final major of the year, The Open Championship.
Let’s take a closer look at this year’s edition and find out what our best plays are at the top-rated sportsbooks.
John Deere Classic
July 03 – July 06, 2025 – 08:00 AM EDT at TPC Deere Run
There have been several examples of players hitting form this week and then taking it across to win the Open, such as Jordan Spieth, Francesco Molinari and Zach Johnson springing to mind.
The par 71 over 7289 yards is set on Silvis parkland in Illinois, and winners need to go low and keep going lower over the four days on the Bentgrass greens.
Last year, Davis Thompson set a winning record with a 28-under-par total.
Can Mouw Prove 2023 Was No Fluke?
Our reasoning for William Mouw begins with the fact that he made a great impression with his PGA Tour debut here two years ago, eventually finishing 13th. The 2024 season saw Mouw finish runner-up on three occasions on the Korn Ferry Tour, gaining his playing privileges for 2025.
At twenty-four, it is a relatively young age to make the big league, and Mouw has acquitted himself well with a best finish of 6th at the Puerto Rico Open and a current FedEx ranking just inside the top 150.
The pressure is on for Mouw, who could tie up his PGA Tour card for next season with a few good finishes or a big result. So, arriving at a course that holds the fondest of memories is a huge plus. Mouw’s preparation is also a real positive, having looked in fine nick at last week’s Rocket Classic, where he finished 34th
It’s a huge ask for William Mouw to win the John Deere Classic, but it still looks like a very strong spot to take the price of (+600) for a top 20 finish prop combined with a small bet on the First-round leader market.

Why Zach Is a Sleeper Prop?
The 2023 Ryder Cup captain, Zach Johnson, is a very interesting computer pick for this week’s John Deere Classic.
Johnson has a remarkable plethora of form at TPC Deere Run over his career, with seven top 5 finishes and a championship in 2012.
Interestingly, the forty-nine-year-old double major champion picks and chooses his schedule as he keeps his hand in while waiting for his fiftieth birthday and what is expected to be a strong Champions Tour career.
That’s not to say the former Masters and Open champion is not still competitive, as a top 10 finish at the Masters Tournament testified. Last week, however, it was something of a surprise to see Johnson tee it up in Detroit at the Rocket Classic, but he still played with great credit, particularly with an excellent opening round.
Johnson had not taken his clubs out since the start of May, so last week should have shaken the rust off Johnson’s short game and sharpened him up for what will be one of his favourite weeks of the season.
Like our selection on the rookie Mouw, there is a slim chance that Johnson could win this week’s event, but a top 20 finish and a fast start for the first-round leader market are well within the wheelhouse of the Iowa veteran.
