Trust The Rookie
The White Sox will give Drew Thorpe another start today. He’s a rookie pitcher who held his first 22 batters to a .150 ISO and wOBA of .236. His strikeouts weren’t high, but he still kept those batters to 25% of fly balls and nearly 44% of ground balls.
That’ll work out against a Diamondbacks lineup that has a .151 ISO and wOBA of .330 against righties this season.
Chicago’s Lineup is Better
How many times have we said that the White Sox match up better in a game this season? It’s rare, but today, it’s true.
Jordan Montgomery is penciled into the lineup today for Arizona. He’s a lefty, allowing a .256 ISO and wOBA of .448 to his last 98 righties. Montgomery has also earned just 12.2% of strikeouts against righties.
That said, he’ll face eight righties in the White Sox’s lineup today. Those righties have hit a wOBA of .331 and have six batters with an above-average ISO against lefties in the last 30 days.
