In his absence, Jock Landale and Boban Marjanovic are traditional centers that could take over the starting spot, but Jabari Smith and Jeff Green figure to play a lot of small-ball five as well. It's unclear if Sengun will be able to return before the end of the regular season, but if he doesn't, the Rockets will have a difficult time competing for a Play-In spot, as they're currently 4.5 games back of the Warriors for 10th in the Western Conference.

Sengun was carted off the floor during Sunday's game against the Kings after sustaining a left lower-leg injury, Jackson Gatlin of Locked On Rockets reports.

While the Rockets are yet to issue an official update, Sengun appeared to land awkwardly on his leg while attempting to contest a Domantas Sabonis transition layup late in regulation. In two contests since returning from a one-game absence due to lower-back soreness, the third-year center has managed just eight rebounds in total, a far cry from the career-high 9.2 boards he's averaging this season. Sengun should be viewed as a risky fantasy option until he demonstrates he's 100 percent.

He does have some flaws in category leagues due to high turnovers and a below-average free throw percentage, but it's hard to complain about his recent production.

Although the Rockets have lost three straight games, they came out of the gate hot, and Sengun's excellent play should help keep them in contention as the season progresses.

Sengun moved past an ankle injury late last week and hasn't appeared to have any limitations over three appearances since then. He's been a consistent presence for the Rockets during that time, averaging 23.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 34.3 minutes per game. The 21-year-old should continue to handle a significant role now that he's healthy.

Sengun (ankle) is good to go for Friday's game against the Pelicans.

Sengun contributed 17 points (7-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, 12 assists and one steal over 26 minutes during Monday's 122-97 win over the Kings.

Sengun has taken a step forward this season and is beginning to look very good against some of the best big men in the league, evidenced by the fact he outplayed Domantas Sabonis for a second straight time Monday. Sengun's calling card has always been his ability to fill the stat sheet and contribute in several categories, as evidenced by the fact he ended just two boards away from a triple-double in this one.

Sengun closed with 15 points (7-13 FG, 1-3 3Pt), nine rebounds, six assists and two steals over 34 minutes during Saturday's 107-89 win over Sacramento.

Sengun engaged in quite a battle with one of the best big men in the league, Domantas Sabonis, and while he couldn't prevent the Kings star from finishing with a double-double, Sengun posted excellent numbers in his own right again. The big man has now scored at least 15 points in four straight contests, and even though he only has one double-double to show, Sengun has racked up at least seven boards four times and at least six dimes four times a swell.

Sengun racked up 19 points (9-12 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal over 27 minutes during Wednesday's 128-119 victory over the Hornets.

Sengun led Houston in rebounding and efficiency from the field. The Rockets orchestrated a well-balanced attack, with all starters scoring at least 17 points. The 21-year-old has scored 19-plus points in three straight games and will have the opportunity to continue that streak Saturday against Sacramento.

Sengun's 2024-25 team option was officially exercised Monday.

The contractual transaction comes as no surprise, as Sengun is showing immense potential throughout his first two NBA seasons. The Rockets exercised options for Jalen Green, Jabari Smith and Tari Eason on Monday as well.

Sengun fouled out of Friday's 126-122 overtime loss to the Spurs after recording 25 points (11-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-6 FT), 14 rebounds, seven assists, one block and two steals across 41 minutes.

Sengun couldn't finish the game due to his foul trouble and had the challenging task of dealing with Zach Collins, one of the most physical big men in the league, but he delivered an impressive outing, showcasing his elite passing ability and once again proving he's one of the most versatile centers in The Association. Sengun needs to be more consistent on a game-to-game basis, but he has the potential to become a stat-filling machine as the season advances.

He came just two boards shy of opening the 2023-24 campaign with such feat, but he posted 28 double-doubles in 2022-23.

It's the 29th double-double of the season for Sengun, who reeled off six straight to wrap up his second NBA season. The 20-year-old averaged 16.7 points, 13.8 boards, 5.0 assists, 1.7 steals, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 threes over that stretch, and barring a significant addition to the Rockets frontcourt in the offseason, he could be headed for a big 2023-24 campaign.

While his playing time has been frustrating of late, he did play the entirety of both overtime periods here, an indication that he is still the preferred option when it comes to the center position.
