Thompson has turned in two duds through his first eight appearances of the 2025-26 campaign but has otherwise been effective across the board.

Thompson was limited to just 24 minutes due to early foul trouble, but still managed to deliver a full stat line. Early signs are good for Thompson, coming off a season in which he was eased into things following some health concerns. Anyone who managed to grab him in drafts has to be thrilled with his efforts thus far. Look for him to continue his strong start when the Pistons host the Celtics on Sunday.

Thompson posted 11 points (5-8 FG, 1-3 FT), nine rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 115-111 loss to the Bulls.

The Pistons have been hyping up Thompson over the offseason, and if Wednesday was any indication, it's easy to see why. Thompson was given plenty of ball-handling responsibilities in addition to his role as Detroit's dynamo on the defensive end, and he nearly put up a triple-double as a result. And with Jaden Ivey (knee) sidelined for several weeks, it appears the Pistons are going to lean heavily on the third-year forward.

Thompson totaled five points (2-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block in 16 minutes during Monday's 128-112 victory over Memphis.

Thompson started, as expected, chipping across the board in limited minutes. Coming off a season plagued by missed games, Thompson will be looking to establish himself as a key piece for the Pistons. Although his offensive talents are somewhat questionable, his ability to serve as an elite defender will be vital, should Detroit hope to take another step forward. Look for Thompson to play close to 30 minutes per game, typically defending the opposition's best player.

Detroit's backcourt of Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey should handle the bulk of the playmaking duties this year, though it sounds like the Pistons want to utilize Thompson more frequently with the ball in his hands. Thomson holds plenty of nine-category fantasy upside in 2025-26, but he'll likely need to improve his free-throw shooting in order to become a more complete asset in those formats. Over 26 regular-season outings following last season's All-Star break, the 2023 first-rounder averaged 11.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game but shot just 69.8 percent from the charity stripe.

Thompson is out for Sunday's game against the Bucks due to left knee patellar tendinopathy.

Thompson is dealing with the same injury as Cade Cunningham (knee), but while the star floor general has been listed as probable for this matchup, Thompson won't suit up and will rest ahead of the start of the playoffs on Saturday, April 19. Thompson continues to showcase his upside in nine-category formats for his ability to contribute across the stat sheet. In fact, he leads the Pistons in that regard over his last seven games, posting third-round value with 15.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.6 blocks.

Thompson recorded 15 points (6-12 FG, 3-3 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals in 32 minutes during Friday's 117-105 victory over the Raptors.

Thompson was efficient with his shot and did a good job of filling out the stat sheet in this 12-point win, though fantasy managers who have trusted in the second-year forward are probably getting used to these stat-filling performances by now. Thompson has settled into a starting role for the Pistons due to his ability to play and guard multiple positions, and he's been part of the first unit in each of the team's 22 games since the All-Star break. During that stretch, Thompson is averaging 10.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocks across 24.1 minutes per game.

Thompson ended Friday's 133-122 win over the Cavaliers with 18 points (8-18 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists, four blocks and two steals over 32 minutes.

Thompson has been playing at a high level of late, and even though his numbers in the scoring column aren't eye-popping, he does enough in other categories to be a reliable fantasy alternative across all formats. Thompson is averaging 0.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks per game since the beginning of March.

March has been a quiet month overall for Thompson, but Tuesday's game was one of his better performances. Over his last 13 games, Thompson has averaged just 21.1 minutes per contest with 9.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.8 blocks on 54.2 percent shooting from the field. His per-minute production makes him worth holding onto in most leagues.

Thompson closed with 14 points (7-10 FG), six rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals over 29 minutes during Wednesday's 116-113 win over the Heat.

Thompson can fill out the stat sheet regularly, but it's worth noting he's not known for being a prolific scorer. This was the first time he surpassed the 10-point mark since March 3, when he recorded 17 points in a win over Utah. Thompson's upside would be considerably higher if he were a more consistent scorer, but even as things are right now, he remains a reliable option across all formats. He's averaging 10.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks across 23.0 minutes per game since the beginning of March.

Thompson contributed 10 points (4-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one block across 19 minutes during Thursday's 129-125 loss to Washington.

Thompson had a few fouls to his name, but his fantasy managers will be a little bummed about the low workload. Despite this dud, Thompson has still produced 10th-round value in nine-category formats over his last 10 games with 9.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.1 steals and 0.9 blocks in 24.1 minutes per game.

Thompson registered five points (2-5 FG, 1-4 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two steals in 21 minutes during Sunday's 119-112 victory over the Trail Blazers.

This was a dud by Thompson's standards, but fantasy managers will want to hang on tightly to the forward. In just 24.2 minutes over his last 10 outings, Thompson has produced ninth-round value in nine-category formats with 10.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.5 steals and 0.6 blocks on 56.0 percent shooting from the field.

Thompson finished with 17 points (7-7 FG, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, five assists, one block and three steals in 30 minutes during Monday's 134-106 victory over Utah.

Isaiah Stewart missed this game with a back injury, while Tobias Harris was absent due to personal reasons. Thompson stepped up in their absence, once again showing the kind of upside he can offer. He's been a top-50 player in nine-category formats over his last 14 games, averaging 13.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.6 steals in just 24.9 minutes.

Thompson totaled seven points (3-6 FG, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists and five steals across 27 minutes during Wednesday's 117-97 victory over Boston.

Thompson took a back seat offensively while Malik Beasley (26 points) and Cade Cunningham (21 points) vaulted the Pistons over the Celtics. However, Thompson was plenty impactful on the opposite end, notching his third game this season with at least five steals. Thompson missed the final 7:42 of regulation after sustaining a leg cramp, per Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press. Considering the lopsided score, Thompson's presence on the court wasn't needed in the closing minutes. He should be good to go for Friday's matchup with Denver.

Thompson finished with 10 points (5-7 FG), three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and four steals in 27 minutes during Monday's 106-97 win over the Clippers.

This was another good example of Thompson's upside when he's firing on all cylinders. He's had a terrific month for the Pistons, posting averages of 13.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.3 steals in 24.4 minutes across 10 February outings. He's also hitting a blistering 66.3 percent of his shots from the field as he continues to live inside the paint.

Thompson logged 16 points (7-9 FG, 2-5 FT), eight rebounds, four assists and two steals over 23 minutes during Sunday's 112-102 win over the Hornets.

Thompson provided Detroit with a balanced effort Sunday, tallying a team-high-tying steals total while concluding two rebounds shy of a double-double. Thompson has recorded at least 15 points in four contests this season, adding eight or more boards in two of those outings.

Thompson (undisclosed) has returned after exiting to the locker room in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Bulls, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports.

It's unclear why Thompson went back to the locker room; however, the second-year pro should be able to handle his normal workload the rest of the way.

Thompson, however, is averaging 5.2 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 22.3 minutes per game during this frame, so he's finding other ways to contribute. That said, the Pistons appear to be watching Thompson's workload after he dealt with a blood clot to begin the season.

Thompson finished just one rebound shy of a double-double, and the second-year forward remains a productive presence in the Pistons' lineup. He's made seven starts in a row, and his role isn't likely to change as long as Jaden Ivey (lower leg) remains sidelined. During those seven starts, Thompson is averaging 8.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.9 steals across 21.9 minutes per game.

Thompson contributed 11 points (4-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and two steals across 26 minutes during Monday's 124-119 win over the Knicks.

Since shifting to Detroit's starting lineup Jan. 4, Thompson has strung together several solid performances for the Pistons. Over his past four games, the versatile 21-year-old has averaged 9.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.3 steals, 2.3 assists and 0.8 threes in 21.9 minutes. The team appears to still be in the process of ramping up Thompson's workload after he missed the start of the season with blood clots, but the forward is becoming a strong source of steals for fantasy managers.

This was his first double-digit scoring effort over his past five games, and his 14 field-goal attempts were the most he has taken in a contest since Nov. 5. Thompson isn't yet a consistent scorer, but he's provided a well-rounded skill set, averaging 11.4 points, 9.5 boards, 3.1 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.1 steals over 30.3 minutes through 17 games.

Thompson contributed 21 points (9-12 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-6 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, two blocks and three steals over 35 minutes during Tuesday's 126-120 loss to Atlanta.

Thompson had posted double-digit rebounds in three consecutive appearances leading up to Tuesday's matchup, and although he couldn't replicate that production in the loss to Atlanta, he was a dominant presence for the Pistons. He posted a season-high 21 points and was active on the defensive side of the ball. The rookie is still shooting just 14.8 percent from beyond the arc to begin his professional career, but he's otherwise gotten off to a fast start, averaging 12.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.3 steals in 32.1 minutes per game.

Thompson finished with nine points (2-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-7 FT), 16 rebounds, two assists and one block over 32 minutes during Sunday's 119-108 loss to the Bulls.

Thompson has been a hit-or-miss player offensively, but his rebounding and defensive production have been superb. The rookie is currently averaging 11.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.2 steals in 31.8 minutes per game. That's a solid foundation, but there are still a few holes in his game, most notably a poor three-point shot (15.4 percent on 2.4 attempts per game).

Thompson finished Monday's 120-109 loss to Golden State with 16 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and four steals across 38 minutes.

Thompson has recorded at least 10 tallies of one category in eight games in a row, as he extended his double-digit scoring streak to five games with another impressive outing here. Unfortunately, he came three rebounds shy of putting up a double-double. The rookie has flashed elite two-way potential in his first eight games, averaging 12.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.5 steals across 31.3 minutes per game.

Thompson notched 14 points (6-14 FG, 2-3 3Pt), nine rebounds, four assists, four blocks and four steals in 38 minutes during Sunday's 120-106 loss to the Suns.

Thompson has been an absolute stat-filling machine, and while draft experts considered him one of the most NBA-ready prospects in the 2023 NBA Draft, he has outplayed even the most optimistic expectations to begin the season. He's unlikely to continue putting up these numbers throughout the entire campaign, but he's showing the ability to contribute on both ends of the court on a regular basis. Regression is likely to happen sooner than later, but he's making strides on offense as well, and he has now scored in double digits in four straight outings.

Thompson tallied 16 points (8-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists and two steals across 30 minutes in Wednesday's 110-101 loss to the Trail Blazers.

Thompson has flashed mostly on the defensive end through the first week of his NBA career and did so again Wednesday, but he's beginning to complement his rebounding and turnover-creating plays with more production as a secondary scorer. He's now hit double figures in the points column in both of his last two outings, after averaging 6.3 points on 26.1 percent shooting from the field in Detroit's first three contests. Like most rookies, Thompson will likely struggle with efficiency during his first season in the NBA, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect major improvement from the 39.2 percent mark from the field he's turned in through five games. That said, the solid all-around numbers Thompson provides in the counting categories has more than made up for his poor percentages and probably makes him worthy of a roster spot in 10-team leagues and deeper.

Thompson accumulated 15 points (6-14 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal across 31 minutes during Monday's 124-112 loss to the Thunder.

Thompson had his best game of the season and recorded the first double-double of his young NBA career. The rookie is just fFour games into his pro career but is already showing signs of the two-way star he might become, as he has notched double-digit rebounds in three outings in a row while also dishing out at least three assists in each game. It's just four games and that's a very small sample size, but Thompson has been one of the top rookies in the first week of the season with averages of 8.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.5 blocks per contest.

Thompson totaled nine points (3-7 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 12 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in 31 minutes during Saturday's 118-102 victory over Chicago.

Thompson has struggled with his shot at times and has gone a combined 6-for-23 over his first three regular-season appearances, but the rookie has made his presence felt on the glass with 31 total rebounds in that same span. Thompson must develop confidence with his shot, though that should happen as the season progresses. If fantasy owners are patient, the benefits could be rewarding due to the early signs he's showing as a potential all-around contributor.

Thompson finished Friday's 111-99 victory over the Hornets with six points (2-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, six assists and one block over 30 minutes. He also had three turnovers.

Thompson never got going offensively, but his versatile box score contributions are a huge and sustainable part of his game. The 20-year-old looks comfortable with the ball in his hands, and his supreme athleticism will help overcome some offensive clunkers throughout his rookie campaign.

Thompson produced four points (1-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and five blocks in 27 minutes during Wednesday's 103-102 loss to the Heat.

While the fifth overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft struggled offensively, Thompson made a big impact on the defensive end and delivered more blocks than the entire Miami roster. The Pistons won't lean on him too heavily out of the gate, but once he gets comfortable, the 20-year-old has the skills and athleticism to be a valuable fantasy asset as a rookie.

Thompson delivered 18 points (5-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 6-8 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block across 22 minutes in Thursday's 118-116 preseason win over the Thunder.

Thompson was impressive on both ends of the court, filling the stat sheet and ending as the team's leading scorer despite playing just 22 minutes, though that latter figure was in line with the rest of the players who started the game. Thompson has seen his stock rise in the preseason and is expected to open the season as a starter on Opening Night against the Heat on Oct. 25.

Thompson is close to locking in a starting spot to open the season, James Edwards of The Athletic reports.

Coach Monty Williams said a starting spot is Ausar's to lose at this point, and it helps that the rookie had a phenomenal showing in his preseason debut. The Pistons are viewing Thompson as a power forward for the most part, so floor spacing could be a potential issue. Either way, Thompson's fantasy arrow is pointed straight up.

Thompson finished Sunday's preseason loss to the Suns with 12 points (3-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-8 FT), 10 rebounds, six assists and a block in 39 minutes.

Making his NBA debut, Thompson saw no shortage of action after starting on the wing alongside Cade Cunningham and Alec Burks, while Jaden Ivey came off the bench. For fantasy purposes, Thompson's ability to rack up counting stats makes him an appealing later-round target, though field-gal and free-throw percentage could be an issue in roto leagues.

Thompson isn't expected to play in Sunday's Summer League finale against the Pacers due to an undisclosed reason, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.

Thompson starred for the Pistons in Summer League, averaging 13.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.8 steals in 29.2 minutes per game, but he's been shut down for the finale. The rookie first-round pick will now turn his sights to preparing for his first NBA regular season.

Thompson recorded 18 points (6-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 14 rebounds, two assists and one steal in 29 minutes during Friday's 79-73 Summer League win against the Spurs.

Thompson was among the most impressive players during the Summer League, displaying his athleticism, playmaking and defense. The Pistons will once again have a very young core, and Thompson figures to play a significant role right out of the gate.

Thompson tallied 17 points (7-14 FG, 1-4 3PT, 2-5 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocks over 31 minutes of Wednesday's 94-90 Summer League win over Toronto.

Thompson fell one rebound shy of a double-double as he stuffed the stat sheet in Wednesday's win. He found a big impact on both ends of the floor, registering six steals/blocks while shooting 50 percent from the field and pulling down three offensive boards. The 2023 No. 5 overall pick had some growing pains as a playmaker, turning the ball over seven times as he took on a featured offensive role with Jaden Ivey, James Wiseman and Jalen Duren sidelined.

Thompson tallied 12 points (6-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt), eight rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks over 29 minutes during Sunday's 113-101 Summer League loss to the Rockets.

Thompson was simply a playmaker for the Pistons on Sunday, consistently making good reads and getting teammates involved. He did a lot of his damage in transition, getting out and finishing and making plays for others. The 20-year-old was also stellar defensively, totaling three steals and two blocks. Although he is yet to find his shot, he should continue to get ample opportunity throughout the Summer League as this year's 5th overall pick.

Thompson recorded seven points (1-4 FG, 5-6 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal over 27 minutes of Saturday's 89-78 win over the Magic in Summer League.

Thompson consistently made winning plays Saturday, oftentimes at the cost of being unable to hunt his own shot. He showcased his versatile skillset, coming down with nine boards and four steals/blocks while also dishing out a trio of impressive assists. Though Thompson's jumper is considered a work in progress, and he may struggle to find shots on an extremely talented Detroit Summer League roster, Thompson should continue to get plenty of run as the No. 5 overall pick in this year's draft.
