Wesley underwent a successful procedure to repair a fracture of the fifth metatarsal base in his right foot Wednesday, and he's expected to be sidelined for 8-12 weeks, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports.

A fifth metatarsal fracture is a notoriously tough injury to recover from, and there's a high chance of experiencing a setback if brought back too soon, so it wouldn't be shocking to see his absence extend beyond this 12-week window. At minimum, he'll be out through the end of December, so he can safely remain on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues.

Wesley suffered a fifth metatarsal fracture in his right foot and will be sidelined indefinitely, Sean Highkin of Rip City Radio 620 Portland reports.

Wesley finished Sunday's 114-107 loss to the Clippers with six points (2-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, three assists and two steals in 17 minutes.

Wesley hasn't been shooting the ball well through three games with a 33.3 percent mark from the field, but he's doing a solid job as the backup point guard behind Jrue Holiday. He's averaging 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals in 17.3 minutes per contest, and he's likely to hold onto the role until Scoot Henderson (hamstring) gets the green light to return.

Wesley has been getting more opportunities with the Spurs, but his fantasy production has left a lot to be desired. Over his last eight games, Wesley has produced averages of 5.9 points, 2.3 assists, 1.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 0.9 three-pointers in 20.4 minutes.

Wesley closed Monday's 125-109 loss to the Lakers with seven points (3-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt), three rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals in 22 minutes.

Wesley posted a solid all-around line in the loss, but lines like these have been few and far between -- he was coming off a scoreless outing in 10 minutes against the Pelicans on Saturday. The Spurs are 13th in the Western Conference and De'Aaron Fox (finger) is done for the season, so Wesley could find more opportunities down the stretch.

Although it was rookie first-rounder Stephon Castle who stepped into the starting lineup, it would appear initially that Wesley is also one of the direct beneficiaries of the absence of De'Aaron Fox (finger) for the remainder of 2024-25. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on Wesley's role moving ahead.

The 17 points were a career high for the second-year guard, while the boards and steals tied his previous highs. Wesley is still struggling to establish himself in the Spurs' backcourt rotation after being the 25th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, but he at least heads into the offseason with a bit of confidence.

While Wesley had a woefully inefficient night from the field, it's still encouraging that the Spurs are essentially turning the reins over to the 2022 first-round pick out of Notre Dame. In Sunday's narrow loss to Golden State, Wesley posted 22 points on 7-of-20 shooting, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. As is the case with most rookie guards, efficiency could be an issue for Wesley early on, but his aggressiveness and ability to get to the free-throw line have to be viewed as positives at this stage.
