Keep up with the latest injuries from the Timberwolves vs Warriors game on Friday with our National Basketball Association injury report.Dec 9, 2025
Posts season high in loss
Hyland produced 14 points (5-8 FG, 4-6 3Pt), three assists, one rebound and one steal across 16 minutes during Monday's 108-105 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
After logging just one minute across Minnesota's previous eight games, Hyland entered the rotation and made an impact Monday. The 25-year-old guard led the Timberwolves' bench in points en route to a season-high mark, scoring in double figures for just the second time through 15 regular-season appearances. Hyland's strong performance is encouraging, though he isn't guaranteed to see the court every game while competing for minutes with Mike Conley, Rob Dillingham, Jaylen Clark and Terrence Shannon.
Nov 19, 2025
Limited role Wednesday
Hyland finished with two points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt), three rebounds and two assists over 10 minutes during Wednesday's 120-109 victory over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Hyland has been a non-factor this season, a trend that continued Wednesday. To this point, he has played more than 10 minutes on only three occasions, averaging 3.9 points in 9.1 minutes per game across the first 13 contests.
Nov 2, 2025
Limited workload continues
Hyland closed with three points (1-3 FG, 1-3 3Pt), one rebound and one assist in 10 minutes in Saturday's 122-105 win over Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
Hyland once again finished in single digits Saturday, marking his sixth straight game without reaching double figures to open the season. The 2021 first-round pick has shown scoring flashes in past campaigns but hasn't carved out a meaningful role in Minnesota's rotation, competing for playing time at point guard behind Donte DiVincenzo and Mike Conley alongside Rob Dillingham. Through six contests, Hyland is averaging 5.2 points, 1.5 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game.
Oct 23, 2025
Earns reserve role in opener
Hyland scored two points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist in eight minutes in Wednesday's win at Portland. He was used off the bench late in the game ahead of Rob Dillingham because because head coach Chris Finch said "that's someone I felt could handle (the ball) out there and could stand up to some of the (Blazers) drives," according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
ANALYSIS
Hyland isn't likely to have much of a role off the bench for the T-Wolves barring several injuries, but it's certainly notable that he got minutes ahead of 2024 eight overall draft pick Dillingham, who was thought to have a growing role off the bench this season. Minnesota's point guard situation is a bit in flux, so there could be opportunity for Hyland to win more minutes off the bench.
Oct 18, 2025
Scores 10 in preseason loss
Hyland posted 10 points (4-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and a steal over 20 minutes of action in Friday's 126-110 loss to Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is not expected to be a contributor in Minnesota's rotation, especially not right away, but having another double-digit scoring output is encouraging. In six preseason games, Hyland averaged 7.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.3 blocks over 16.2 minutes.
Oct 4, 2025
Drops 18 points in preseason win
Hyland finished with 18 points (5-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal across 22 minutes in Saturday's 126-116 preseason win over the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Hyland impressed during Minnesota's preseason opener, leading all scorers in an efficient performance. The 25-year-old guard signed a partially guaranteed one-year contract with the team in mid-September and is likely to provide backcourt depth for the Timberwolves in the 2025-26 campaign. He appeared in 24 regular-season games between the Timberwolves and Clippers last season, during which he averaged 6.2 points and 1.3 assists across 10.0 minutes per contest.
Sep 15, 2025
Set to join Timberwolves
Hyland and the Timberwolves agreed to a deal Monday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
After fizzling out with the Clippers and Nuggets last year, Hyland has landed an opportunity to join Minnesota for training camp in an effort to make the final roster. The 2021 first-rounder is capable of providing instant offense off the bench, as he averaged 6.2 points, 0.8 steals and 1.3 three-pointers in just 10.0 minutes per game over 24 regular-season contests in 2024-25, but he'll likely be hard-pressed to find playing time in the Minnesota backcourt if he makes the cut.
Apr 4, 2025
Rare appearance in win
Hyland amassed one rebound over two minutes during Thursday's 105-90 win over the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Hyland stepped into the rotation for just the fourth time since joining the Timberwolves, a stint spanning nine games. It's been another disappointing season for Hyland, suiting up on just 24 occasions, averaging 6.2 points in 9.9 minutes.
Mar 4, 2025
Transferred to NBA
The Timberwolves transferred Hyland from the G League's Iowa Wolves to the NBA level Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is coming off a 39-point explosion in the G League, hitting eight three-pointers Monday against the Salt Lake City Stars. The 24-year-old guard will now have another opportunity to shine on the NBA level, providing some depth in the backcourt for Minnesota ahead of Tuesday's game against the 76ers.
Feb 26, 2025
To sign with Minnesota
Hyland and the Timberwolves have agreed to a two-way contract, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.
ANALYSIS
The Timberwolves promoted Jaylen Clark to a standard roster spot to clear a two-way slot for Hyland. This will be a fresh start for Hyland after the Clippers traded him away before the deadline where he was ultimately waived in Atlanta. In 20 appearances for the Clippers, Hyland averaged 7.2 points, 1.4 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 11.1 minutes.
Feb 7, 2025
Let go by Atlanta
The Hawks are waiving Hyland on Friday, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was traded from the Clippers to the Hawks as salary filler but won't stick around in Atlanta. After averaging 7.2 points, 1.4 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 11.1 minutes across 20 appearances for Los Angeles this season, the 24-year-old guard will become a free agent.
Feb 7, 2025
Won't be available Friday
Hyland (trade pending) is listed as out for Friday's game against the Bucks, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
ANALYSIS
While fellow trade-deadline acquisitions Caris LeVert (trade pending), Terance Mann (trade pending) and Georges Niang (trade pending) are all listed as questionable, Hyland has already been ruled out. Even when available, Hyland will likely compete for limited minutes in Atlanta's backcourt.
Feb 6, 2025
Traded to Atlanta
The Clippers traded Hyland and Terance Mann to the Hawks on Thursday in exchange for Bogdan Bogdanovic, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.
ANALYSIS
A fresh start could be just what Hyland needs, as he was used sparingly by the Clippers. He made just 20 regular-season appearances with the Clippers, averaging 7.2 points, 1.4 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 11.1 minutes. In Atlanta, Hyland will compete for backcourt minutes off the bench with guys like Terance Mann and Vit Krejci.
Jan 1, 2025
Rough outing in loss
Hyland ended Tuesday's 122-86 loss to the Spurs with seven points (2-10 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and two assists across 17 minutes.
ANALYSIS
After missing five games, Hyland had a forgettable performance in his return to the floor for the Clippers. It's been a rough season for the 24-year-old, as struggled to stay healthy and productive when able to get on the floor for Los Angeles.
Dec 17, 2024
Nabs three steals in win Monday
Hyland registered eight points (3-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt), three assists and three steals over 12 minutes during Monday's 144-107 victory over Utah.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old guard was efficient during his limited run in the blowout win, tying Kevin Porter for the team-high mark in steals. Hyland has appeared in five consecutive outings with Terance Mann (finger) sidelined, during which he has averaged 12.8 points, 2.4 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals across 18.2 minutes per contest.
Dec 9, 2024
Leads charge for Clippers again
Hyland produced 22 points (7-13 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal across 28 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 117-106 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year guard led the Clippers in scoring for the second straight game, taking full advantage of the absence of Terance Mann (finger) and James Harden (groin). Mann isn't expected back until after Christmas and while Harden's injury doesn't seem serious, it's not clear when he might get back on the court, so the door could be open for Hyland to see a big workload over the next week or two. He hadn't seen more than 12 minutes of court time in a game prior to Mann's injury, but over the last two contests Hyland's averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 threes, 3.5 boards and 3.0 assists in 25.5 minutes as a significant part of the second unit.
Dec 5, 2024
Leads Clippers in scoring
Hyland produced 18 points (5-11 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes during Wednesday's 108-80 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Hyland stepped up off the bench and emerged as perhaps the lone reliable offensive weapon for the Clippers in a game where the team mustered only 80 total points. Don't expect Hyland to hover around the 15-point mark on a regular basis, though. He's scored in double digits in just two of his nine appearances off the bench in 2024-25.
Oct 23, 2024
Not starting Wednesday
Hyland will come off the bench in Wednesday's season opener versus Phoenix, Joey Linn of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland gives way to James Harden, Norman Powell and Terance Mann in a three-guard starting lineup for the Clippers. Hyland faces stiff competition from the defensively-oriented Kris Dunn, as well as the offensively-oriented Kevin Porter in a deep bench of backcourt options.
Oct 17, 2024
Joins starting five
Hyland is starting Thursday's preseason game against the Kings, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is getting the nod at point guard Thursday night with James Harden receiving a night off. Hyland's last appearances dates back to Friday against the Blazers, finishing with 14 points, three rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes off the bench.
Oct 11, 2024
Will play Friday
Hyland (hip) is available and will play in Friday's preseason game against the Trail Blazers, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was expected to be a game-time decision for this contest due to left hip soreness, but he'll give it a go. Expect Hyland to see minutes off the bench in the same role he's expected to have once the regular season begins for the Clippers.
Oct 8, 2024
Sitting out Tuesday
Hyland will be held out of Tuesday's preseason matchup versus the Nets due to left hip soreness, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland will sit Tuesday, though it is just expected to be a precautionary move by the club ahead of Opening Night. The 24-year-old's next chance to suit up during the preseason will come Friday versus the Trail Blazers.
May 2, 2024
Pops for 11 points Wednesday
Hyland contributed 11 points (3-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound and three assists over seven minutes during Wednesday's 123-93 loss to the Mavericks in Game 5 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
ANALYSIS
Hyland popped for 11 points in seven minutes as the Clippers were soundly beaten by an impressive Dallas outfit. Now trailing 3-2 in the series, Los Angeles will need to turn things around in a hurry should they hope to extend it to a seventh game.
Apr 14, 2024
Out Sunday
Hyland has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rockets due to an undisclosed injury, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland has totaled 57 points, 15 assists and six steals over his last two appearances, including one start, and he was in line for another elevated role Sunday, as most of the Clippers' regulars are resting. However, the youngster has been ruled out an hour before tipoff after not being listed on any of the previous injury reports. It's unclear if he'll have a regular rotational role during the postseason.
Apr 13, 2024
Top scorer off bench in extra time
Hyland chipped in 20 points (7-17 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and three steals over 30 minutes during Friday's 110-109 loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Hyland led all Clippers in scoring and threes made while handing out a team-best assist total and a team-high-tying trio of steals while receiving extended minutes off the bench with Los Angeles resting some of its starters. Hyland has surpassed the 20-point mark in two games this season, finishing with at least five boards and five assists in two contests. We could see Hyland earn extra minutes again in the regular-season finale Sunday.
Apr 12, 2024
Returns to bench
Hyland will come off the bench Friday against the Jazz, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland drew the start at point guard Wednesday while Russell Westbrook and James Harden recovered from injury, but he'll shift back to the bench for Friday's action. Hyland recorded seven points, nine rebounds and two assists over 17 minutes in his last appearance as a reserve Tuesday in Phoenix.
Apr 11, 2024
Season best outing in start
Hyland closed with 37 points (15-29 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, nine assists and three steals across 43 minutes during Wednesday's 124-108 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Hyland got the starting nod with Russell Westbrook (hand) and James Harden (foot) out, putting forth his best outing of the year while leading all players in Wednesday's contest in threes made and leading the Clippers in scoring, assists and steals in an all-around showing. Hyland set season high marks in scoring and threes made, surpassing the 20-point mark for the first time of the year. He posted his second-best assist total of the 2023-24 campaign, finishing behind only his season high of 11 assists recorded March 14 against Chicago.
Apr 10, 2024
Back with first unit
Hyland will start Wednesday's game against the Suns, Joey Linn of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland draws the starting nod at point guard with the Clippers down Russell Westbrook (nad) and James Harden (foot). In four starts this season, Hyland is averaging 10.8 points, 5.8 assists and 2.0 rebounds.
Mar 17, 2024
Retreats to bench
Hyland will come off the bench during Sunday's game against the Hawks, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland got two spot starts with James Harden (shoulder) out of the lineup, but he will return to his usual bench spot Sunday. With Norman Powell (lower leg) out of the lineup, Hyland could still be in for ample playing time.
Mar 16, 2024
Struggles in spot start
Hyland accumulated five points (2-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt), two rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals across 24 minutes during Friday's 112-104 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Hyland got the starting nod once again with James Harden ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Coming off a strong performance Thursday, Hyland failed to repeat his heroics, tallying just five points in 24 minutes. Harden's injury doesn't sound as though it is going to cause him to miss significant time, meaning Hyland's stretch of relevance could end just as quickly as it began.
Mar 14, 2024
Takes advantage of spot start
Hyland notched 17 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, 11 assists and four steals over 32 minutes during Thursday's 126-111 victory over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was inserted into the starting lineup with James Harden (shoulder) sidelined. Hyland made the most of his opportunity as he recorded his first double-double of the season and the third of his career. His 11 assists Thursday tied a career high set in December of 2022, and his 17 points were his most since Nov. 10 against the Mavericks. Law Murray of The Athletic reported before Thursday's game that Harden is uncertain he'll play Friday against the Pelicans, and if that's the case, Hyland figures to reprise his starting role.
Mar 14, 2024
Starting for injured Harden
Hyland will get the start Thursday against the Bulls in place of the injured James Harden (shoulder), Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland has been a consistent part of the rotation over the past seven games, and it appears coach Tyronn Lue has seen enough to give him a chance at starting in place of Harden. Hyland has gotten the nod in two prior games this season, totaling 21 points, eight assists, two steals and one rebound in 66 minutes. Per 36 minutes, he's averaging 16.3 points, 5.4 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals. The Clippers will still have Kawhi Leonard (back) after an injury scare, however, so it won't be just up to Hyland and Paul George to generate first-unit offense.
Mar 13, 2024
Plays well off bench
Hyland ended with eight points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two rebounds and three assists in 18 minutes during Tuesday's 118-100 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Kawhi Leonard left this game early after 12 minutes with a back issue and didn't return, and Hyland made the most of his limited minutes. He had no rhythm at the beginning of March, but he's played well in three straight games with averages of 10.0 points, 3.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.3 three-pointers.
Mar 4, 2024
Enters rotation for Clippers
Hyland notched zero points (0-3 FG) and two assists in 14 minutes during Sunday's 89-88 victory over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
After not playing at all in February, Hyland has averaged 15.0 minutes in his last two appearances. He's getting some opportunity with Russell Westbrook (wrist) out indefinitely, but there's some obvious rust to shake off with a combined two points in those games on 1-of-10 shooting.
Feb 21, 2024
Available to play
Hyland will be available for Thursday's game against the Thunder, Joey Linn of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Hyland will be available for Thursday's game, that doesn't mean he'll play. The third-year guard has only appeared in 19 games for the Clippers this season, posting meager averages of 6.2 points, 1.7 assists and not much else on 36.7 percent shooting from the floor.
Feb 13, 2024
Won't play Wednesday
Hyland is listed as out for Wednesday's game versus the Warriors while not being with the team.
ANALYSIS
Hyland's absence won't affect the Clippers' rotation, as he hasn't played since Jan. 31 despite being available. Hyland's next chance to suit up will come after the All-Star Break on Feb. 22 against the Thunder.
Jan 28, 2024
Rare appearance in win
Hyland totaled two points (1-8 FG, 0-6 3Pt), one rebound, four assists and two steals across 10 minutes during Saturday's 115-96 win over the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Hyland played at least 10 minutes for just the second time in over two months, taking advantage of the blowout. After an encouraging start to the season, Hyland has basically fallen out of the rotation, spending far more time on the bench than he does on the court. From a fantasy perspective, there is nothing to see or do here.
Dec 20, 2023
Good to go Wednesday
Hyland (knee) is available for Wednesday's game against Dallas, Eddie Sefko of the Mavericks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland has been upgraded from questionable to available Wednesday despite dealing with a right knee injury. However, the 23-year-old guard has been an inconsistent part of the Clippers' rotation.
Dec 19, 2023
Iffy against Dallas
Hyland (knee) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Mavericks, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is currently dealing with right knee chondromalacia and could miss his third straight game due to his knee issues. However, his potential absence shouldn't affect the Clippers' rotation.
Dec 17, 2023
Questionable to play Monday
Hyland (knee) is considered questionable to play Monday against Indiana, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is amid a two-game absence due to right knee soreness, following a nine-minute cameo on Dec. 12 after a three-game absence due to shoulder issues. He's also logged a handful of DNP-CDs this season, so it's difficult to determine exactly how banged up Hyland is. Amir Coffey has seen a nightly role across the Clippers' past three games, which Hyland could usurp if he's cleared to play Monday.
Dec 16, 2023
Out against Knicks
Hyland will not play against the Knicks on Saturday due to right knee soreness.
ANALYSIS
Hyland has played a total of nine minutes in December, so his absence won't impact the rotation.
Dec 12, 2023
Good to go Tuesday
Hyland (shoulder) will be available for Tuesday's game against the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Hyland hasn't been in the rotation for the Clippers, so his availability doesn't have many fantasy implications.
Dec 12, 2023
Questionable for Tuesday
Hyland (shoulder) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Kings, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland missed Monday's game against the Trail Blazers due to a right shoulder strain and is in danger of missing a second consecutive contest Tuesday. However, he had fallen out of the Clippers' regular rotation recently, so his potential absence shouldn't have any impact on fantasy.
Dec 11, 2023
Out with shoulder issue
Hyland is out for Monday's game against the Trail Blazers due to a right shoulder strain, Joey Linn of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland hasn't played in his team's last three contests due to his current spot in the team's rotation, so it's unclear as to when he picked up the injury. His next chance to take the court will arrive Tuesday against the Kings.
Nov 15, 2023
Healthy DNP in last two games
Hyland did not see the floor in Tuesday's game against the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is healthy, but he hasn't seen the floor in two straight games for the Clippers. Head coach Ty Lue said Tuesday night that Hyland will continue to be out of the rotation for the foreseeable future while he explores different lineups.
Nov 6, 2023
Back to bench
Hyland won't start Monday's game against the Knicks, Chris Mannix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Hyland will move back to the bench with James Harden cleared to make his Clippers debut. Harden will have a minutes restriction, so Hyland should still see some minutes as the top guard off the bench. Across three appearances as a reserve this season, Hyland has averaged 15.7 points in 21.7 minutes per game.
Nov 1, 2023
Fills in pre-Harden
Hyland provided 17 points (6-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three assists and one steal over 32 minutes during Tuesday's 118-102 win over Orlando.
ANALYSIS
It's patently clear that Harden will occupy the off-guard slot for the Clippers once the deal is finalized. Harden's arrival will have detrimental effects on Hyland and Norman Powell's fantasy value. Hyland has the opportunity to spell Russell Westbrook as well, so his production dip might not be too adverse.
Oct 31, 2023
Moves into starting lineup
Hyland will start Tuesday's game against the Magic, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Clippers are preparing for the arrival of James Harden, so this is likely a temporary move for Hyland. The young guard has played very well to begin the season, averaging 15.7 points, 1.7 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 3.0 three-pointers.
Oct 30, 2023
Staying in LA for 2024-25 campaign
The Clippers exercised Hyland's fourth-year team option Monday, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland's contract is squared away for the next two seasons following Monday's transaction. He's set to earn $4.16 million next year and is already off to a solid start to the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 15.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists through three matchups.
Oct 30, 2023
Pours in 18
Hyland posted 18 points (7-14 FG, 4-8 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal over 21 minutes during Sunday's 123-83 win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Hyland trailed only Kawhi Leonard in shot attempts, joining a well-balanced Clippers' attack. Averaging 21.7 minutes per game, Hyland has been bombing, connecting on 42.9 percent of 7.0 threes per game through Los Angeles' first three contests.
Oct 27, 2023
Good to go
Hyland (ankle) is good to go against the Jazz on Friday, Joey Linn of Sports Illustrated reports.
ANALYSIS
It was a surprise to see Hyland on the injury report after he looked strong in Wednesday's win over Portland, but he's all set to reprise his role as one of the key contributors off the bench.
Oct 27, 2023
Late addition to injury report
Hyland (ankle) is questionable for Friday's game against the Jazz, Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland wasn't on the Clippers' initial injury report for Friday's matchup, but he's still dealing with the left ankle sprain that he sustained during a preseason game against the Nuggets on Oct. 19. He was available for Wednesday's regular-season opener after being listed as questionable, but the team will likely monitor him ahead of tipoff before determining his availability for Friday. The 23-year-old tallied 17 points and three assists in 22 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Trail Blazers.
Oct 25, 2023
Good to go Wednesday
Hyland (ankle) will play in Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers, Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland has been battling a left ankle sprain over the last week, but he'll suit up for Wednesday's season opener. He's expected to serve as the top point guard behind Russell Westbrook.
Oct 24, 2023
Status uncertain Wednesday
Hyland (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday's season opener against the Trail Blazers, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is in danger of missing the team's season opener due to a left ankle sprain he suffered in the team's preseason finale. However, his return to practice Tuesday is a good sign of his availability.
Oct 24, 2023
Will practice Tuesday
Hyland (ankle) will attempt to practice Tuesday, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland did not go through a full practice Monday, but he was able to do a lot of individual work on the side. The Clippers will wait and see how his ankle responds before determining his status for Wednesday against the Blazers.
Oct 20, 2023
Won't practice Friday
Hyland (ankle) won't participate in Friday's practice, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland suffered his ankle injury during Wednesday's preseason matchup with Denver. His status for the Clippers' regular-season opener against Portland on Oct. 25 is in question.
Oct 20, 2023
Suffers ankle sprain
Hyland suffered a left ankle sprain during Thursday's preseason game against Denver and was unable to return, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was on fire before suffering the injury, finishing with 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Russell Westbrook rested on the sidelines. Hyland will be re-evaluated Friday and should be considered questionable for Opening Night against Portland on Oct. 25.
Oct 19, 2023
Moves into starting lineup
Hyland will start Thursday's preseason game against Denver, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Clippers are resting all three of Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook and Paul George. Hyland will be fired up against his former team and will have plenty of usage coming his way.
Oct 10, 2023
Moves to bench
Hyland isn't in the starting five for Tuesday's preseason game versus Utah, Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland will be replaced by Russell Westbrook in the starting lineup Tuesday. Hyland will likely compete with Terrance Mann for the backup point guard role this season.
Oct 9, 2023
Scores team-high 18 points
Hyland posted 18 points (7-14 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, four assists and two blocks across 24 minutes in Sunday's 101-96 preseason loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was one of the best players for the Clippers in this one, and while his role next season remains to be determined, he's expected to see decent minutes while operating as a reliable scoring threat. He averaged 11.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in 2022-23.
Apr 21, 2023
Scores 20 points off bench
Hyland ended with 20 points (6-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-8 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal over 21 minutes during Thursday's 129-124 loss to the Suns in Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Hyland saw 13 and 14 minutes, respectively, during the first two games of the series, but with Kawhi Leonard (knee) joining Paul George (knee) on the sidelines Thursday, the second-year guard saw an uptick in playing time and took advantage. He was aggressive offensively and finished third on the team in scoring behind Norman Powell and Russell Westbrook thanks to a busy night at the charity stripe. If the Clippers' two superstars remain sidelined for Saturday's Game 4, Hyland should once again see a sizable role off the bench.
Apr 6, 2023
Offers spark on second unit
Hyland tallied 14 points (4-7 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four assists, two rebounds and one steal across 21 minutes in Wednesday's 125-118 win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Though the recent return of Norman Powell from an extended absence has probably lowered Hyland's minutes ceiling, the second-year guard has at least been able to maintain a rotation spot while both Paul George (knee) and Marcus Morris (back) have remained sidelined. Hyland has been a key second-unit scorer for the Clippers since settling into a spot on the second unit March 23, averaging 13.7 points to go with 4.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 2.7 three-pointers and 1.0 steals in 22.3 minutes over a seven-game stretch.
Mar 29, 2023
Continues to play well
Hyland notched 20 points (8-14 FG, 4-6 3Pt), five rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal across 22 minutes during Wednesday's 141-132 victory over Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Hyland has gotten consistent playing time in the last four games and has produced. He's averaging 16.8 points and 7.0 assists in those four contests. The 22-year-old is also helping out in other categories with five steals and 13 triples in the last four games. Both Paul George (knee) and Kawhi Leonard (personal reasons) were out Wednesday, freeing up minutes and shots. Even when Leonard comes back, Hyland has found a useful role as the season comes to a close.
Mar 26, 2023
Scores ream-high 18 points
Hyland amassed 18 points (7-12 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and seven assists over 24 minutes during Saturday's 131-110 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was productive off the bench with 27 minutes on the floor, and was a long bright spot against the Pelicans' relentless scoring barrage from beyond the arc. The VCU product is experiencing a usage spike in the wake of Paul George's (leg) injury, making him a potential streaming option as the regular season comes to a close.
Mar 24, 2023
Increases output sans George
Hyland amassed 16 points (6-13 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal across 26 minutes during Thursday's 127-105 victory over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
With Paul George (knee) missing his first game since late January, many fantasy managers were anxious to see who might step up for the Clippers to try to replace his production. Hyland filled that role well Thursday, finishing third on the team in scoring and tying for the lead in assists. His 26 minutes were particularly promising given that Hyland hadn't gotten off the bench in any of Los Angeles' previous seven contests. The second-year guard has shown in the past that he can score in bunches when given the opportunity, and he could get that chance moving forward with George expected to miss multiple weeks.
Feb 27, 2023
Sees 15 minutes off bench
Hyland logged 10 points (4-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists in 15 minutes during Sunday's 134-124 overtime loss to Denver.
ANALYSIS
After picking up a DNP-CD against the Kings on Friday, it was good to see Hyland back in coach Ty Lue's rotation, but it looks as though he may have a difficult time achieving fantasy relevance the rest of the way. Hyland played exactly 16 minutes in each of his two games with the Clippers before the All-Star break, so barring an injury to Russell Westbrook (25 minutes played Sunday), Eric Gordon (25) and/or Terance Mann (25), the second-year guard looks to be more of a secondary option.
Feb 13, 2023
Ready to debut Tuesday
Hyland will make his debut with the Clippers on Tuesday against the Warriors, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After being acquired from Denver at the trade deadline, Hyland appears all set to make his Clippers debut Tuesday. The second-year pro averaged 12.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists across 19.5 minutes over his 41 appearances with Denver this season. Hyland figures to compete with Terance Mann for minutes at the point guard position going forward.
Feb 9, 2023
Won't make debut Friday
Hyland (trades pending) won't play Friday against the Bucks, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was acquired by the Clippers on Thursday in a trade with the Nuggets. The guard will have some time to get acquainted with the Clippers' system and could be able to play Tuesday against Golden State.
Feb 9, 2023
Shipped to Clippers
The Nuggets traded Hyland to the Clippers in exchange for a 2024 and 2025 second-round draft pick on Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was out of the Nuggets' rotation, not playing in the team's last four games. However, he was productive earlier in the season, averaging 12.1 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 rebounds in 19.5 minutes across 42 contests. Hyland will likely compete for a backup guard spot on the Clippers, with John Wall (abdomen) rumored to be on his way out.
Feb 5, 2023
Excised from rotation
Hyland (coach's decision) went unused off the bench in Saturday's 128-108 win over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Hyland had been listed as probable heading into Saturday with a non-COVID-19-related illness, but his lack of playing time for the second game in a row looks to be the result of him moving outside of the rotation rather than the Nuggets having any concern about his health. The second-year guard continues to circulate in trade rumors leading up to the Feb. 9 deadline, and given that he's not currently seeing minutes with the 37-16 Nuggets, a move just about anywhere else would improve his fantasy outlook.
Feb 4, 2023
Available vs. Hawks
Hyland (illness) is available for Saturday's tilt against the Hawks, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland's role has diminished significantly since mid-December, and he was a DNP-CD during Thursday's win over the Warriors. Plus, it's been reported the Nuggets are exploring trading him. So, he may not see the floor despite being available.
Feb 4, 2023
Probable Saturday
Hyland is probable for Saturday's matchup against the Hawks due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
Hyland's role has diminished significantly since mid-December, and he was a DNP-CD during Thursday's win over the Warriors. Plus, it's been reported the Nuggets are exploring trading him. So, even if he's cleared Saturday, it's not guaranteed he'll play.
Feb 1, 2023
Invisible in win
Hyland ended Tuesday's 122-113 victory over the Pelicans with two points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and one assist in five minutes.
ANALYSIS
Hyland's Tuesday result may be a strong indication of Denver's plans for the upcoming trade deadline, as Jamal Murray's resurgence has made the VCU product's services expendable. Hyland could find himself in a better situation if he is dealt, but it's still too early to consider him as a waiver-wire add if he's available in your league.
Jan 26, 2023
Scores 15 points off bench
Hyland chipped in 15 points (5-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal across 25 minutes during Wednesday's 107-99 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Hyland reached the 25-minute mark for the first time since late December and took advantage of the opportunity, as he scored in double digits for the first time since Jan. 11. He'd been dealing with some efficiency issues and his numbers have been affected by that, as Hyland is averaging a mere 10.9 points per game while shooting 41.7 percent from the field in the current month.
Jan 25, 2023
Good to go Wednesday
Hyland (finger) will play Wednesday against the Bucks, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland will return following a one-game absence. He should see plenty of touches Wednesday, as the Nuggets are out four starters. When seeing at least 24 minutes, Hyland has averaged 20.9 points, 5.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals.
Jan 25, 2023
Iffy for Wednesday's contest
Hyland (finger) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
A sprained left finger kept Hyland sidelined for the first half of Denver's back-to-back set Tuesday, and the second-year point guard is officially a question mark for Wednesday. He's one of five Nuggets listed as questionable, so Denver may have extremely shorthanded for a matchup against against the Bucks, who recently got Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo back from multi-game absences due to knee injuries. If Hyland is ruled out again, his next chance to suit up won't come until Saturday in Philadelphia.
Jan 24, 2023
Out vs. Pels
Hyland (finger) is out for Friday's matchup against the Pelicans, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
A sprained left finger will keep Hyland out for the first time since Nov. 30. In his absence, more minutes should be available for Ish Smith and Christian Braun.
Jan 23, 2023
Questionable Tuesday
Hyland (finger) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans, Mike Singer of The Denver Post report.
ANALYSIS
Hyland injured the finger on Friday and played through the injury Sunday, although he played just 11 minutes in the contest. If he were to miss, Bruce Brown and Ish Smith would be in line for more minutes.
Jan 22, 2023
Given green light to play
Hyland (finger) will be available for Sunday's game versus Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was one of several Nuggets players on the injury report heading into Sunday, but he'll ultimately play through the sprained finger on his left hand that picked up during Friday's win over Indiana. Jamal Murray (hip) is also active for Denver, though Nikola Jokic (hamstring) and Michael Porter (personal) are unavailable, so Hyland could absorb some of the scoring burden.
Jan 21, 2023
Questionable vs. Thunder
Hyland (finger) is questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Hyland exited Friday's win over the Pacers due to a sprained finger, and it's unclear if he'll play Sunday. With Jamal Murray (hip) also questionable, Denver could be thin in the backcourt. That could lead to increased run for Ish Smith.
Jan 21, 2023
Injures finger
Hyland left Friday's 134-111 victory over the Pacers early after spraining a finger on his left hand, Nuggets beat writer T.J. McBride reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland accumulated five points (2-5 FG, 1-4 3PT), two rebounds and one steal across nine minutes prior to exiting the game. The severity of his injury is not known, but his status for Sunday's matchup with the Thunder is now up in the air. Ish Smith would be in line for increased minutes backing up Jamal Murray at point guard if he ultimately has to miss any time.
Jan 18, 2023
Playing Wednesday
Hyland (ankle) will take the floor for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was handed a probable tag ahead of the contest and will play as expected. With Jamal Murray (ankle) also active, Hyland should handle his typical backup point guard duties.
Jan 18, 2023
Likely to play against Minnesota
Hyland is probable for Wednesday's game versus the Timberwolves due to a right ankle sprain.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is dealing with a nagging ankle injury but is expected to play Wednesday. The second-year guard is averaging 9.8 points, 2.4 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 17.8 minutes across his last five games. Hyland is struggling with his efficiency over that span, shooting just 34.7 percent from the field and 29.0 percent from three.
Jan 18, 2023
Unimpactful in victory Tuesday
Hyland ended Tuesday's 122-113 win over Portland with five points (2-10 FG, 1-7 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one block in 16 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Hyland struggled again in the victory, highlighting just how temperamental his fantasy game can be. He has now scored fewer than eight points in three straight games, resulting in a dip in his playing time. The Nuggets can afford to simply run without him when his shot isn't falling, something that doesn't lend itself to overall fantasy appeal. He can be streamed in for scoring but as we saw in this one, there is certainly an element of risk attached to that move.
Jan 17, 2023
Available Tuesday
Hyland (ankle) is available for Tuesday's game against the Trail Blazers, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland suffered the ankle sprain during Sunday's matchup with Orlando, but the injury won't prevent him from taking the court Tuesday. He averaged 13.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 20.2 minutes in the five games preceding the injury.
Jan 16, 2023
Questionable Tuesday
Hyland (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Hyland exited Sunday's game against the Magic due to a sprained right ankle, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be available two days later. If he's sidelined against Portland, Bruce Brown could see increased playing time.
Jan 16, 2023
Doesn't return Sunday
Hyland (ankle) didn't return to Sunday's game against Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Hyland sustained a right ankle sprain in the first half Sunday and was unavailable throughout the second half of the win. Prior to his departure, he logged four points (2-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt), three assists, two rebounds and a steal in nine minutes. It's unclear whether he'll be available for Tuesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
Jan 15, 2023
Questionable to return
Hyland is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Magic due to a right ankle sprain.
ANALYSIS
Hyland sustained his ankle injury in the first half of Sunday's matchup and didn't come out of the locker room with the team after halftime. If he's unable to return, Bruce Brown could see increased run for the Nuggets.
Jan 12, 2023
Goes 5-of-5 from three in win
Hyland contributed 21 points (7-12 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, four assists and one steal across 24 minutes during Wednesday's 126-97 victory over the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Nearly all of Hyland's production came in the first half, where the point guard went 6-of-8 from the field for 17 points, including 5-of-5 from beyond the arc. He attempted only four more shots over the final two quarters as the Nuggets held a comfortable lead, finishing tied with Nikola Jokic with a game-high 21 points on the night. Hyland has broken the 20-point mark eight times this season and is now shooting 47.5 percent from three in the month of January.
Jan 11, 2023
Will play Wednesday
Hyland (thigh) is active for Wednesday's affair with Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was expected to play after being given a probable designation due to a thigh contusion. He will look to extend his streak of scoring double-digit points to eight games Wednesday as the primary threat of the Nuggets' second-unit offense.
Jan 10, 2023
Dealing with thigh injury
Hyland is probable for Wednesday's matchup against the Suns due to a left thigh contusion.
ANALYSIS
Hyland appears to have picked up a thigh injury during Monday's win over the Lakers, but the issue isn't expected to keep him out Tuesday. The backup point guard has scored at least 12 points in seven straight games (one start) and is averaging 16.0 points, 3.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 22.0 minutes during that stretch.
Jan 7, 2023
Cools off in Friday's win
Hyland closed with 13 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes during Friday's 121-108 victory over Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Hyland scored in double-digits for the sixth straight game, yet logged just 17 minutes, following on from 20 minutes the previous night. While it has been a nice little stretch for Hyland, his production is often reliant on who is healthy on any given night. He is outside the top 200 for the season and if his minutes are going to hover in the high-teens, it's hard to see him as anything more than a potential stream candidate.
Jan 1, 2023
Another double-digit game off bench
Hyland ended Sunday's 123-111 victory over Boston with 17 points (7-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 0-1 FT), two rebounds and four assists over 19 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Hyland led the Nuggets bench in scoring, posting his third straight game of 15 or more points. Hyland has tallied at least 15 points in 13 games this year.
Dec 30, 2022
Slides back to second unit
Hyland will come off the bench for Friday's game against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Hyland received the spot start last time out with Jamal Murray (knee) absent, however, with Murray back he will return to the second unit. He nabbed a double-double across 33 minutes in the start but should see fewer minutes. However, Hyland has shown the capability to produce in limited minutes and remains a solid option in deeper formats.
Dec 29, 2022
Thrives in starting role
Hyland produced 20 points (8-16 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds and 11 assists in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 127-126 loss to the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Hyland moved into the starting lineup Wednesday, delivering his best performance in quite some time. It's been a lean few weeks for Hyland, falling off the standard league radar. While this performance is encouraging, it did come without both Jamal Murray (knee) and Bruce Brown (ankle) in the lineup. Murray should return for Friday's game against the Heat, meaning Hyland may shift back to the bench. He is worth a look, just in case he can build off this performance, although let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Dec 28, 2022
Starting Wednesday
Hyland is in the starting five Wednesday against Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is making his first start of the season with Jamal Murray out due to a left knee injury. Hyland has averaged 12.7 points, 3.1 assists and 2.1 rebounds across 25 outings off the bench this year.
Dec 26, 2022
Struggles with shot
Hyland contributed three points (1-6 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and one assist over 14 minutes during Sunday's 128-125 overtime victory over Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
With Denver close to full strength, Hyland notched his fewest minutes and points since going scoreless across five minutes in a 121-106 loss to the Pelicans on Dec. 4. Until Hyland is able to improve his efficiency, it appears like he'll be relegated to a minor reserve role. Over his past five appearances, the second-year guard is posting 6.8 points on 26.1 percent shooting across 15.4 minutes per game.
Dec 21, 2022
Another underwhelming performance
Hyland ended with 12 points (4-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal over 15 minutes during Tuesday's 105-91 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Hyland continues to struggle, having now failed to deliver for three consecutive games. During that span, he has not played more than 17 minutes in any one game, offering up more lows than highs. The upside is there for Hyland to be a fantasy-relevant asset but given the fact the coaching staff is comfortable going in another direction when he is struggling, moving on may be something to consider.
Dec 15, 2022
Shines off bench Wednesday
Hyland logged 23 points (8-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), two rebounds, six assists and one block in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 141-128 victory over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Hyland made all six of his two-point tries and went 2-for-5 from beyond the arc to post a very efficient shooting line. The second-year guard finished second on Denver (behind Nikola Jokic) with 23 points, his highest scoring output since a 29-point effort against Dallas on Nov. 20. Hyland has given the Nuggets a nice scoring punch off the bench, averaging 14.6 points in just 21.7 minutes over 19 games.
Dec 11, 2022
Fails to fire in win Saturday
Hyland recorded 11 points (4-14 FG, 3-7 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal in 21 minutes during Saturday's 115-110 victory over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Hyland shot just 4-of-14 from the floor in the win, limiting his offensive output. This in turn resulted in him playing just 21 minutes. While that makes two games in a row scoring fewer than 15 points, he is still a top 115 player over the past month. The Nuggets need him firing away off the bench, meaning he should be getting plenty of opportunities moving forward.
Dec 7, 2022
Pops for 20 points Tuesday
Hyland registered 20 points (7-15 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 30 minutes during Tuesday's 116-115 loss to Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Hyland finally got things moving in the right direction Tuesday, dropping at least 20 points for the first time in more than two weeks. Despite a few flashes, it's been a stop-start season for Hyland, both in terms of playing time and production. He does feel like a player who could get hot at some point, and off the back of this performance, he is probably worth adding to see what happens next.
Dec 3, 2022
Goes for 16 points in loss
Hyland accumulated 16 points (6-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 22 minutes during Friday's 117-109 loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Hyland stepped on the court following a four-game absence, and he hasn't missed a beat while operating as one of Denver's main second-unit offensive threats. Excluding the Nov. 22 against the Pistons in which he only logged nine minutes due to an illness that forced him out, Hyland has been a consistent scorer and has scored in double digits in eight straight appearances.
Dec 2, 2022
Listed as available
Hyland (illness) is available for Friday's matchup against Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Hyland, who's been battling an illness, was deemed available for Wednesday's matchup against the Rockets as well, but he didn't see the court for a fourth straight game. The extent of his situation remains unclear, but the second-year point guard will be a risky play until he finally reasserts himself as a core member of Denver's rotation.
Nov 30, 2022
Will play Wednesday
Hyland (illness) confirmed that he will be available to play in Wednesday's game against the Rockets, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland will return Wednesday after missing the past three games due to illness. Hyland's return should cut back on Bruce Brown, Vlatko Cancar and Ish Smith's playing time. The second-year guard is averaging 15.0 points, 3.6 assists and 2.1 rebounds in 21.5 minutes across 13 games this season.
Nov 29, 2022
Questionable vs. Rockets
Hyland (illness) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Hyland may be able to return following a three-game absence. If he does, Ish Smith, Vlatko Cancar and Bruce Brown could see reduced workloads.
Nov 28, 2022
Ruled out vs. Houston
Hyland (illness) won't play Monday against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was previously listed as doubtful due to an illness, so this latest update comes as no surprise. Christian Braun and Bruce Brown are candidates to see an increase in playing time with Hyland out of commission.
Nov 28, 2022
Unlikely to play Monday
Hyland (illness) did not participate in shootaround and is trending towards missing Monday's game against Houston, Brendan Vogt of The DNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland has missed two consecutive games due to the illness and appears likely to miss a third given his absence in shootaround and limited practice Sunday. If he is ruled out, expect Bruce Brown and Ish Smith to pick up the majority of his vacated minutes.
Nov 27, 2022
Questionable for Monday
Hyland (illness) has been listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Hyland appeared in Sunday's practice, but he wasn't a full participant. The Nuggets will presumably reassess Hyland in Monday's morning shootaround before updating his status ahead of the 9 p.m. ET opening tip. The guard has missed the last two games due to a non-COVID-19-related injury.
Nov 27, 2022
Could be back Monday
Hyland (illness) took part in portions of Sunday's practice, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Hyland didn't appear to be a full participant in the session, he was on the court for additional work after practice concluded and looks as though he'll have a chance to play Monday against the Rockets. The Nuggets will presumably reassess Hyland at morning shootaround Monday before updating his status ahead of the 9 p.m. ET opening tip. Hyland has missed the Nuggets' last two games with a non-COVID-19-related illness.
Nov 24, 2022
Still out Friday
Hyland (illness) is out Friday against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Hyland will miss a second straight game Friday, though the Nuggets will at least be getting Jamal Murray (conditioning) back. Bruce Brown and Vlatko Cancar could continue seeing elevated minutes.
Nov 23, 2022
Out Wednesday
Hyland (illness) is out Wednesday against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Hyland exited Tuesday's game against the Pistons early due to an illness, and it'll prevent him from playing Wednesday. Denver could end up quite shorthanded, as Michael Porter (heel), Jamal Murray (conditioning) and Nikola Jokic (conditioning) are all questionable.
Nov 22, 2022
Questionable to return Tuesday
Hyland is questionable to return to Tuesday's game against the Pistons due to an illness, Katy Winge of Altitude Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland's illness still appears to be affecting him. Nevertheless, there's a good chance that the guard will sit out the remainder of the matchup.
Nov 22, 2022
Will play Tuesday
Hyland (illness) has been upgraded to available for Tuesday's game versus the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Hyland joins Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic as available for Tuesday's game, as all three have cleared protocols. Hyland should resume his bench role, in which he is averaging 16.1 points, 3.9 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 22.6 minutes across 12 games.
Nov 22, 2022
Downgraded to questionable
Hyland (hip) is now considered questionable for Tuesday's game versus the Pistons due to illness.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was initially listed as probable due to a sore left hip but appears to have come down with a bug overnight that puts his status further in jeopardy. If Hyland can give it a go, he could be in line for additional action Monday with Jamal Murray (COVID-19 protocols) listed as doubtful.
Nov 21, 2022
Added to injury report
Hyland is considered probable for Tuesday's game against Detroit due to a sore left hip, Mike Singer of the Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
The second-year guard was able to play in Sunday's game against Dallas, but the team will keep an eye on his hip heading into a back-to-back set. With Jamal Murray (health and safety protocols) expected to miss at least one more game -- he'll probably sit both halves of the back-to-back, if we're being realistic -- Hyland should continue to see increased minutes in the short term. The VCU product popped for 29 points, six assists and three three-pointers in Sunday night's win. Over his last seven games, Hyland is averaging 4.3 made threes per contest.
Nov 21, 2022
Pops for career-high 29 points
Hyland totaled 29 points (10-21 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal across 35 minutes during Sunday's 98-97 victory over Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was a one-man wrecking crew Sunday, carrying the Nuggets to a narrow victory. Despite coming off the bench, Hyland proved vital throughout the game, ending as one of only three Denver players to score in double-digits. He is obviously benefitting from the absence of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, both of whom are in the health and safety protocols. It will be interesting to see what his role looks like when they return but until that happens, he needs to be added in all formats.
Nov 20, 2022
Cleared to play Sunday
Hyland (hip) will be available for Sunday's game at Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was listed as probable coming into the day, so there was never a ton of doubt regarding his status. The second-year guard has played a key role as the Nuggets' sixth man this season, averaging 21.5 minutes per game backing up Jamal Murray. Through 11 appearances, Hyland is up to 14.9 points, 3.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds and an outstanding 3.1 made threes per game (46.6% 3Pt).
Nov 20, 2022
Probable for Sunday
Hyland is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Mavericks due to left hip soreness.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was a late addition to the Nuggets' injury report, but the fact that he's been listed as probable suggests he's not at major risk of sitting out Sunday. He's logged at least 22 minutes in each of his last five appearances off the bench and is averaging 18.4 points, 3.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game in that span.
Nov 19, 2022
Thrives as lead guard off bench
Hyland finished with 17 points (5-16 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six assists, two rebounds and one steal across 27 minutes in Friday's 127-99 loss to the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
With Jamal Murray joining two-time MVP Nikola Jokic (illness) in the NBA's COVID-19 protocols and sitting out Friday's game, the Nuggets turned to Bruce Brown to replace Murray as the team's starting point guard. Even though he was bypassed for start, Hyland still saw plenty of minutes as the top guard off the bench and was able to produce a quality line despite the Nuggets being on the wrong end of a blowout. With Murray unlikely to gain clearance for Sunday's rematch with the Mavericks in Dallas, expect Hyland to once again be in store for another sizable minutes count.
Nov 17, 2022
Bangs in five triples in return
Hyland ended Wednesday's 106-103 loss to the Knicks with 21 points (7-15 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and two assists across 22 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Hyland played 23 minutes off the bench in his return to action, picking up right where he left off with another impressive offensive performance. While it has been a somewhat empty start to the season, Hyland has picked things up of late, finding his rhythm, and scoring at least 20 points in three of his past five games. He is not necessarily a must-add player but given the trajectory, he is worth a look.

Active Wednesday
Hyland (COVID-19 protocols) is active for Wednesday's game against Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Hyland will be available to play for the Nuggets on Wednesday after missing the past two games while being in the league's health and safety protocols. The guard has averaged 14.0 points across nine appearances this season.
Nov 16, 2022
Upgraded to questionable
Hyland (COVID-19 protocols) has been upgraded to questionable for Wednesday's matchup against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was initially listed as out, but he was upgraded to doubtful Tuesday and is now considered questionable. The second-year guard has missed back-to-back games due to COVID-19 protocols, but even if he's sidelined for a third, it appears likely he'll return to action sometime this week.
Nov 15, 2022
Upgraded to doubtful
Hyland (COVID-19 protocols) has been upgraded to doubtful for Wednesday's game against New York.
ANALYSIS
Originally listed as out for Wednesday's matchup, Hyland has a slim chance at returning to the floor although unlikely. Hyland has missed the past two games while being in the league's health and safety protocols.
Nov 15, 2022
Remains out Wednesday
Hyland (COVID-19 protocols) won't play Wednesday against New York.
ANALYSIS
Hyland will miss a third straight matchup due to the league's health and safety protocols. His next chance to return to the floor looms Friday against Dallas.
Nov 12, 2022
Out again Sunday
Hyland (COVID-19) will miss Sunday's game against the Bulls, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland entered the NBA's health and safety protocols Friday afternoon, forcing him to sit out the game against the Celtics on Friday. With Ish Smith (calf) also out Sunday, expect Bruce Brown to take on another massive minutes role after playing 37 minutes Friday. Hyland's next opportunity to take the floor will come Wednesday against the Knicks.
Nov 11, 2022
Ruled out Friday
Hyland will sit out Friday's game against the Celtics due to the league's Health and Safety Protocols.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was a late addition to the injury report due to an illness and was downgraded once again to out after being placed in the league's health and safety protocols. For as long as he remains sidelined, Bruce Brown will take on a larger role in the backcourt. His next chance to return will come on Sunday against the Bulls.
Nov 11, 2022
Downgraded to questionable
Hyland is now listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Celtics due to a Non-Covid illness.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was a late addition to the injury report Friday due to a non-Covid illness. If he were to miss Friday's game, Bruce Brown and Christian Braun would likely see extra run off the bench.
Nov 8, 2022
Improved production continues
Hyland had 14 points (5-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, one assist and two steals over 23 minutes during Monday's 115-109 victory over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Hyland dropped another strong performance Monday, although his playing time remains a little underwhelming. After a slow start to the season which saw him dropped in many leagues, he has been able to turn things around over the past three games. While there is certainly some upside here and he does make for a viable 12-team asset, his current playing time is going to limit what he can do on a nightly basis.
Nov 6, 2022
Notches 24 points in return
Hyland notched 24 points (9-17 FG, 6-8 3Pt), five rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 25 minutes during Saturday's 126-101 victory over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the last two games with a hip injury, Hyland returned to the lineup and had arguably his best overall performance of the season, scoring 24 points while also racking up season-high totals in both assists (7) and rebounds (5). Eleven of Hyland's points came in the fourth quarter on 4-of-6 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three-point range, while he also dished out five assists in the final period. The key bench piece has now scored at least 24 points in each of his last two games after failing to score more than 15 in either of his first five.

Hyland (hip) remains questionable, but coach Michael Malone said the guard is trending more towards probable for Saturday's game against the Spurs, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.

Questionable Saturday

Nov 3, 2022
Ruled out Thursday
Hyland (hip) will not take the court against the Thunder on Thursday, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Ish Smith (calf) joins Hyland as out for Thursday, leaving the backcourt bench options limited. Christian Braun, Bruce Brown and Davon Reed are the likely benefactors of the injuries while Jamal Murray should be locked into 30-plus minutes. Hyland's next opportunity to suit up will come Saturday against the Spurs.
Nov 3, 2022
Warming up, still questionable
Hyland (hip) is testing out his injury in warmups but remains questionable for the contest, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland should be viewed as a true game-time decision as a result, leaving the bench minutes behind Jamal Murray and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in flux leading up to it. Hyland figures to handle minutes in the high teens if he gets the green light.
Nov 2, 2022
Questionable Thursday
Hyland (hip) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Hyland sat out Sunday against the Lakers due to a strained hip. He may test things out in pregame warmups before determining if he's ready to go.
Nov 1, 2022
Practices fully Tuesday
Hyland (hip) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice session, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
After posting a season-high 26 against the Jazz last Friday, Hyland didn't get a chance to follow it up with another strong effort Sunday due to a hip issue. His full participation Tuesday puts him on track to return to the floor Thursday, though Wednesday's injury report should shed a bit more light on his status.
Oct 30, 2022
Ruled out Sunday
Hyland (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lakers, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland suffered a left hip strain during pregame warmups and was a late scratch as a result. Whether he's available Thursday against the Thunder remains to be seen.
Oct 30, 2022
Questionable for Sunday's game
Hyland is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lakers due to a left hip strain, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland sustained his injury during pregame warmups Sunday, and it's unclear whether he'll be able to take the court against the Lakers. If he's held out, Christian Braun and Bruce Brown will likely see increased playing time.
Oct 25, 2022
Scores 15 points in loss
Hyland accumulated 15 points (5-10 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound and three assists across 18 minutes during Monday's 135-110 loss to Portland.
ANALYSIS
Hyland led Denver reserves in scoring and tallied more points than reigning MVP Nikola Jokic in the loss despite playing only 18 minutes. He did much of his damage from beyond the arc, knocking down four triples on seven tries. However, Hyland didn't contribute much in the way of complementary stats and logged a team-worst minus-18 during his time on the court. There's no doubt that Hyland can score in bunches, but he's limited in fantasy by his lack of production elsewhere and by the fact that he's yet to play 20 minutes in a game this season.
Oct 20, 2022
Sees limited run off bench
Hyland finished Wednesday's 123-102 loss to Utah with 10 points (3-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three assists and one block in 16 minutes.
ANALYSIS
There was buzz this preseason about Hyland's potential to be the sixth man for Denver, but that wasn't the case in the opener. He saw true bench minutes behind Jamal Murray and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Bruce Brown (21 minutes) saw the most time off the pine. Hyland is an early cut candidate for those in standard leagues who took a flier on him. When Murray misses time, Hyland should be fantasy-viable, but it's tough to hang onto him while waiting for that to happen.
Oct 14, 2022
Will play Friday
Hyland will play in Friday's preseason finale against the Mavericks, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland tweak his ankle during an exhibition against the Suns and sat out one contest, but he'll return to action Friday and shouldn't be limited to start the regular season. With Jamal Murray (hamstring) sidelined, Hyland will likely be interested into the starting lineup for Denver's preseason finale.
Oct 13, 2022
Questionable for preseason finale
Hyland (ankle) is listed as questionable for Friday's preseason finale against the Warriors, Adam Mares of DenverStiffs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland suffered a left ankle injury against the Suns and was forced to miss the Nuggets' last preseason game as a result. The guard could make a return Friday, but it's likely that the team elects to be cautious and hold Hyland out until the regular season begins next Wednesday.
Oct 12, 2022
Out Wednesday
Hyland (ankle) won't play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Clippers, Katy Winge of Altitude Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland suffered a left ankle sprain Monday against the Suns and will miss Wednesday's tilt with the Clippers as a result. He could potentially return for the Nuggets' preseason finale against the Warriors on Friday, but it's possible the team will elect to keep him sidelined until the regular season begins next Wednesday against the Jazz.
Oct 11, 2022
Questionable Wednesday
Hyland (lower leg) is considered a question mark for Wednesday's clash with the Clippers, Katy Winge of Altitude Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland suffered a leg injury during Monday's preseason contest, which led to his destination on the injury report for Wednesday. The team will presumably take the cautious route with the second-year guard in the preseason to ensure his health for the start of the regular season, but more clarification should arrive on game day.
Oct 10, 2022
Suffers leg injury
Hyland is questionable to return to Monday's preseason game against Phoenix after suffering a lower left leg sprain, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is officially questionable to return, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Nuggets hold him out for the rest of this exhibition. Ish Smith and Chasson Randle could pick up extra minutes down the stretch if Hyland is unable to return.
Oct 8, 2022
Drops game-high 24 points in loss
Hyland totaled 24 points (7-14 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 6-7 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one block in 22 minutes during Friday's loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Hyland continues to push for more playing time, impressing with a polished offensive performance. The lack of peripheral numbers remains a question mark, although based on what we saw to close last season, he certainly warrants being drafted in the later rounds of just about every draft.
Oct 3, 2022
Third year option picked up
Hyland has his third-year option picked up by the Nuggets on Monday, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
After averaging 10.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game during his rookie season, the Nuggets decided to exercise the VCU product's third-year option. Hyland appears set to compete with Ish Smith, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Bruce Brown for playing time over the course of his second season. Denver opens its preseason Monday against the Thunder.
Apr 24, 2022
Scores 15, sparks Game 4 victory
Hyland racked up 15 points (5-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), four rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 20 minutes during Sunday's 126-121 victory over the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Coming off of a five-point effort in Game 3 on Thursday, the rookie had his best playoff game to date, finishing as a team-best plus-13 in 20 minutes of action off the bench. During a 65-second span in the second quarter, Hyland drilled a three-pointer on three consecutive possessions, helping push the Nuggets' lead up to 17 points. With the series shifting back to San Francisco for Game 5 on Wednesday, the Warriors will be favored to close it out, but Hyland and the Nuggets will do all they can to force a Game 6.
Apr 10, 2022
Draws start Sunday
Hyland is starting Sunday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Monte Morris (elbow) is unavailable for Sunday's regular-season finale, so Hyland will make his first start since Feb. 14. He's averaged 11.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 23.7 minutes per game in three starts this year.
Apr 8, 2022
Dishes seven dimes Thursday
Hyland closed with 16 points (5-8 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven assists and one steal in 21 minutes during Thursday's 122-109 win over Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was the only Nuggets reserve to register double-digit scoring, and he finished the victory with a team-high seven assists. He was particularly efficient from beyond the arc, going 4-of-5 from three-point range. Hyland has emerged as Denver's go-to scorer off the bench in his rookie campaign and should have a major role in the postseason.
Apr 3, 2022
Logs double-digit scoring again
Hyland closed with 10 points (4-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, four assists and two steals across 27 minutes during Sunday's 129-118 win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Thanks to excellent assist totals in limited action, Hyland's fantasy point-per-minute results have been excellent. The rookie will continue to work with the second unit as the Nuggets begin their playoff run.
Apr 2, 2022
Scores 14 off bench
Hyland totaled 14 points (3-14 FG, 2-12 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal in 29 minutes during Friday's 136-130 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
While the Nuggets came up short, Hyland had another impressive showing off the bench as he continues to assert himself as a trustworthy option down the stretch. The rookie launched a career-high 12 three-point attempts, and while he only connected on two, he now has multiple threes in 10 of his last 11 appearances. During that stretch, he's averaging 15.8 points, 4.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 threes.
Mar 31, 2022
Bounces back in win
Hyland produced 20 points (8-14 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal over 27 minutes during Wednesday's 125-118 win over the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
After back-to-back quiet showings, Hyland emerged with a big night Wednesday. Logging his sixth 20-point game of the season, Hyland trailed only Nikola Jokic (37 points) in scoring. The rookie out of VCU is averaging 9.9 points per game on a strong 40.3/37.3/84.1 percent shooting slash.
Mar 25, 2022
Scores 23 points off bench
Hyland provided 23 points (7-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 5-9 FT), two rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal over 25 minutes during Thursday's 140-130 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Hyland finished as Denver's second-leading scorer in the contest thanks largely to a 4-for-8 performance from three-point range. The scoring output was his highest since Jan. 15, when he dropped 27 points on the Lakers. Hyland has made solid contributions across multiple categories of late, averaging 17.4 points, 4.4 assists, 3.3 boards and 3.4 triples over his past seven games.
Mar 21, 2022
Scores 11 points off bench
Hyland notched 11 points (3-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds and four assists in 20 minutes during Sunday's 124-104 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
The entire Nuggets offense struggled in this game, but Hyland had another strong performance in what has been a strong season for him. The former VCU standout has now scored at least 10 points in six games in a row, and in 10 of his last 11. He's averaging 13.5 points per contest during that 11-game stretch.
Mar 19, 2022
Solid production off bench
Hyland chipped in 17 points (6-13 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and three steals over 35 minutes during Friday's 119-116 overtime loss to the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Hyland continues to provide a spark off the bench and has scored in double figures in five consecutive games. During that stretch, the rookie has averaged 16.4 points, 4.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 26.2 minutes per contest. Hyland has also connected on multiple threes in four straight games and is shooting 50.0 percent from deep during that span.
Mar 17, 2022
Strong play continues
Hyland finished with 17 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, five assists and one steal over 24 minutes during Wednesday's 127-109 win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is amid his best three-game stretch of the season, scoring at least 17 points in each game while shooting 52.8 percent from the field. He led the Denver bench in scoring, rebounding and assists Wednesday. Hyland is gaining steam for deeper leagues down the final stretch of the season.
Mar 14, 2022
Stays hot in win
Hyland ended with 21 points (7-14 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-5 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 31 minutes Monday against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Hyland put together another strong performance off the bench, now finishing in double figures in three straight contests. His scoring outburst was his best since Feb. 8 against the Knicks and ranks as his fourth-best showing of the campaign. Fantasy managers will also be pleased to see 31 minutes on his final line, which is the most playing time he's nabbed since Jan. 16.
Mar 13, 2022
Strong showing off bench
Hyland provided 17 points (6-12 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 0-1 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 19 minutes during Saturday's 127-115 loss to the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
The rookie guard tied his career high in assists while scoring in double digits for the fifth time in his last six games. Hyland is averaging 12.0 points, 4.2 assists, 2.7 boards, 2.5 threes and 1.2 steals in only 18.3 minutes over that stretch, and rather than hitting the proverbial wall, the 21-year-old seems to be finding another gear late in the season.
Mar 12, 2022
Set to play Saturday
Hyland (knee) is active for Saturday's contest against Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was listed as probable coming into the matchup, and he will indeed be available for the clash against the Raptors. The rookie has been dealing with a knee issue but has been able to play in five of Denver's past six games.
Mar 11, 2022
Probable vs. Raptors
Hyland (knee) is probable for Saturday's matchup against the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
The rookie made his return from a one-game absence to play 22 minutes against the Warriors, so he should be fine for Saturday. In his past eight appearances, he's averaged 9.5 points, 3.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 17.8 minutes.
Mar 10, 2022
Available Thursday
Hyland (knee) is available for Thursday's game against Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Hyland missed Wednesday's win over the Kings due to right knee soreness, but he'll return to the court for Thursday's tilt with the Warriors. With Will Barton (ankle) still out, Hyland could see some additional playing time in his absence. The 21-year-old is averaging 8.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 17.6 minutes per game this season.
Mar 10, 2022
Listed as questionable
Hyland (knee) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Warriors, Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie was withheld from Wednesday night's win over the Kings, and the Nuggets will give him a few more hours before making a final call on his status for the second leg of the back-to-back.
Mar 9, 2022
Out Wednesday
Hyland won't play Wednesday against the Kings, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland's status was downgraded from probable to questionable ahead of Wednesday's tilt with the Kings, so it appears the right knee soreness he's dealing with stuck around longer than anticipated. He'll miss Wednesday's game as a result. With Will Barton (ankle) also sidelined, Austin Rivers, Bryn Forbes and Facundo Campazzo could see increased run in the Nuggets' backcourt.
Mar 8, 2022
Questionable at Sacramento
Hyland is probable for Wednesday's game against the Kings due to right knee soreness, freelance writer T.J McBride reports.
ANALYSIS
Will Barton (ankle) is also questionable, so the Nuggets could have a shorthanded backcourt. More minutes may be in store for Bryn Forbes, Austin Rivers and Facundo Campazzo.
Mar 3, 2022
Posts 19 efficient points Wednesday
Hyland racked up 19 points (6-8 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one steal over 22 minutes during Wednesday's 119-107 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Hyland played less than a minute due to a sore left ankle in Denver's win over Portland on Sunday. The rookie guard was able to log 22 minutes Wednesday, however, and he finished second on the team in scoring with 19 points. That output came quite efficiently, as Hyland made five of six shots from three-point range and went 6-for-8 from the field overall. He's shown flashes of offensive excellence throughout the campaign, but Hyland's role is still too inconsistent to warrant consideration in standard 12-team fantasy leagues.
Mar 1, 2022
Not listed on injury report
Hyland (ankle) is not listed on the injury report ahead of Wednesday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Hyland played just one minute before exiting Sunday's win over the Trail Blazers due to left ankle soreness. It's a positive sign to see the rookie omitted from the injury report, and he should return to his usual workload Wednesday. He averaged 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 29.6 minutes across 11 appearances (three starts) during February.
Feb 28, 2022
Doesn't return Sunday
Hyland (ankle) didn't return to Sunday's game against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Hyland didn't record any counting stats prior to exiting Sunday's game with left ankle soreness after playing less than a minute. It's not yet clear whether he'll be able to suit up Wednesday against Oklahoma City.
Feb 27, 2022
Questionable to return
Hyland is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Trail Blazers due to left ankle soreness, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland came off the bench Sunday and missed a field goal, but he was removed from the game after playing less than a minute. If he's unable to return, Facundo Campazzo and Austin Rivers should see increased run.
Feb 27, 2022
Productive in 17 minutes
Hyland ended Saturday's 115-110 victory over the Kings with 11 points (3-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds and three assists in 17 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Hyland made the most of his limited time on the court, pacing Denver reserves in scoring and chipping in a trio of rebounds and dimes. The rookie had combined to shoot 4-for-20 over his previous two games, so this was a step in the right direction. However, Hyland is shooting just 36.7 percent from the field overall this season, thus it would be unwise to expect him to suddenly post consistently efficient shooting lines.
Feb 19, 2022
Aggressive offensively in loss
Hyland tallied 10 points (4-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block during Friday's 50-48 loss to Team Barry during the Rising Stars competition at All-Star Weekend.
ANALYSIS
Hyland attempted a team-high 10 shots en route to 10 points, finishing second on the team behind Jaden McDaniels (12). The rookie out of VCU scored 10 of Team Payton's first 33 points but was held scoreless the rest of the way as Team Barry pulled out a clutch two-point win during the first leg of the new format.
Feb 17, 2022
Numbers, minutes trend down
Hyland posted five points (2-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt), five assists and two rebounds across 17 minutes Wednesday in the Nuggets' 117-116 win over the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Hyland's three-game run as a starter came to an end with Monte Morris (concussion) gaining clearance to return to the lineup Wednesday. With the demotion to the second unit came a reduction in playing time, and though Hyland was solid enough during his time on the court from a counting-stats standpoint, the rookie probably needs a consistent 25-plus-minute role to become a worthy back-end roster option in most 12-team leagues.
Feb 16, 2022
Moves back to bench
Hyland will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against the Warriors, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
With Monte Morris rejoining the lineup following a three-game absence due to a concussion, Hyland will shift back to a bench role. The rookie guard is averaging 8.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists across 18.1 minutes per game this season.
Feb 15, 2022
Offensive skills on show Monday
Hyland supplied 14 points (4-7 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 29 minutes during Monday's 121-111 win over the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Hyland had himself another productive night, continuing what has been the best stretch of games in his young career. He has played at least 25 minutes in three of the past four games, averaging 14.3 points per game over the same span. At this point, he should be viewed as a possible streaming option for anyone in need of some points and triples, although fantasy managers should keep an eye on his role moving forward, given what we have seen thus far this season.
Feb 13, 2022
Scores in double figures
Hyland provided 11 points (4-11 FG, 3-9 3Pt), four rebounds and four assists over 24 minutes during Saturday's 110-109 win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Hyland drew a second consecutive start with Monte Morris (concussion) sidelined. Over those two games, the rookie has totaled 21 points, six rebounds and four assists across 42 minutes. While Hyland has drawn back-to-back starts, Facundo Campazzo has also seen an increased role off the bench and has nearly matched Hyland's production as the starter. Both Hyland and Campazzo figure to see increased roles for the duration of Morris' absence, but it's unclear who has the upper hand in terms of fantasy production.
Feb 12, 2022
Scores 10 points in start
Hyland posted 10 points (4-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT) and two rebounds over 18 minutes during Friday's 108-102 loss to Boston.
ANALYSIS
While Hyland drew the start in place of Monte Morris (concussion), Facundo Campazzo played more minutes and was more productive than Hyland off the bench. Denver has three remaining games before the All-Star break, but it's unclear if Morris will be able to suit up for any of those contests. As long as he remains sidelined, Hyland and Campazzo are both candidates for increased roles.
Feb 11, 2022
Starting for injured Morris
Hyland will start Friday's game against Boston, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland will make his first start of the season since Monte Morris (concussion) will be unavailable against the Celtics. The 21-year-old has averaged 11.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 19.8 minutes per game across his last four appearances.
Feb 9, 2022
Shines off bench Tuesday
Hyland closed Tuesday's 132-115 victory over the Knicks with 22 points (6-12 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 6-7 FT), six rebounds and three assists over 25 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was coming off four straight games in which he couldn't surpass the 10-point mark, but he bounced back admirably here and delivered an excellent performance. He can score at will and has quite a lot of offensive potential, but the nature of his bench role makes him a very inconsistent player, thus limiting his fantasy appeal.

Ice cold in thumping defeat
Hyland totaled five points (2-8 FG, 1-5 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and two blocks across 15 minutes during Tuesday's 130-115 loss to the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was invisible in the loss, failing to deliver anything of note. While he has flashed some upside throughout the season, fantasy managers should not view him as a 12-team commodity just yet. The Nuggets have a host of backcourt options, meaning Hyland really needs to come out firing to sustain his playing time. For now, placing him on a watchlist is about all that needs to be done.

Not on injury report
Hyland (illness) is not listed on the Nuggets' injury report ahead of Tuesday's game against the Pistons, Mike Singer of the Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
A non-COVID illness kept the rookie out of Sunday's game against Detroit, but it looks like he won't miss any additional time. Expect Hyland to continue to compete for minutes with Monte Morris, Facundo Campazzo, Austin Rivers and new addition Bryn Forbes.
Jan 23, 2022
Late scratch Sunday
Hyland won't play Sunday against the Pistons due to a non-COVID illness.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was ruled out less than an hour before tipoff as a result of his illness. In his absence, Facundo Campazzo and Austin Rivers should see increased run for the Nuggets.

Shines in blowout of Lakers
Hyland contributed 27 points (8-15 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals across 33 minutes during Saturday's 133-96 win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Hyland saw a career-high 33 minutes in the contest, in large part due to the blowout nature of the affair. The rookie took advantage with a career-high point total and his first double-double in the NBA. Hyland has shown flashes of strong play this season, though he has yet to establish the consistency deserving of a roster spot in most fantasy leagues. Still, Saturday's showing is a reminder of why the Nuggets remain high on him and of his potential to be a fantasy asset eventually. For the moment, his strongest weapon is his three-point shot -- over his past two games, Hyland has gone 11-for-18 from beyond the arc.

Bone Brigade comes to down
Hyland ended with 17 points (6-12 FG, 5-8 3Pt), four rebounds and three assists across 23 minutes before fouling out of Thursday's 140-108 win over Portland.
ANALYSIS
Logging an awesome plus-24 off the bench, Hyland rained in five threes -- matching a season high. Equally awesome is somehow fouling out amid a blowout victory while playing only 23 minutes. Chalk it up to tenacity. Hyland is infrequently called upon, but the 21-year-old VCU product was shown serious flashes of talent across his rookie season.
Jan 9, 2022
Will be available Sunday
Hyland will be available for Sunday's game against the Thunder, Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland returned an inconclusive COVID-19 test earlier in the day, but he's since been re-tested and cleared to play. The rookie guard has settled into a consistent role of roughly 20 minutes off the bench on most nights. In Friday's win over the Kings, Hyland had 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and one block in 16 minutes.
Jan 9, 2022
Questionable for Sunday's game
Hyland is in the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Thunder, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After entering the protocols Dec. 30, Hyland missed just one game before returning to action Monday. He's played in the Nuggets' past three contests and has averaged 7.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20.3 minutes, but he finds himself back in the protocols once again. The fact that the Nuggets haven't immediately ruled Hyland out for Sunday suggests the team could be waiting for a negative COVID-19 test result from the rookie point guard before clearing him to play.
Jan 7, 2022
Active against Kings
Hyland (illness) is available for Friday's game against the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Hyland dealt with a non-COVID illness ahead of Friday's matchup but will be able to play through the issue. He's averaged 5.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in 22.5 minutes per game across his last two appearances.
Jan 6, 2022
Probable Friday
Hyland (illness) is probable for Friday's game against the Kings.

Hyland (COVID-19) will be available for Monday's game against Dallas, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is expected to play 3-to-4-minute stints in his first game back from COVID-19 protocols. The team will undoubtedly monitor his status throughout the game after he spent the last four days in the league's COVID-19 protocols.
Jan 3, 2022
Expected to play Monday
Hyland (COVID-19 protocols) is en route to Dallas and is expected to be available for Monday's contest against the Mavericks, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland cleared the NBA's health and safety protocols and is still listed as questionable, but it appears the rookie point guard will at least be available for Denver on Monday. However, it's unclear how big of a role he will actually be able to handle after being in protocols for four days. With Monte Morris (knee/COVID-19) out, Facundo Campazzo will likely draw the start while Austin Rivers (thumb) and Hyland operate off the bench.
Jan 3, 2022
Upgraded to questionable
Hyland (COVID-19 protocols) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Mavs.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was initially listed as out, but it looks like he may have cleared health and safety protocols and will have a chance to make his return Monday night. Hyland was held out of Saturday's win over Houston after entering protocols on Thursday.
Dec 30, 2021
Enters health and safety protocols
Hyland entered the league's health and safety protocols Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland had appeared in nine of the last 10 games, but he'll now be forced to spend some time away from the team. A timetable for his return hasn't been established, and it's not yet clear whether he's tested positive for COVID-19. Facundo Campazzo and Davon Reed could see increased run in his absence.
Dec 23, 2021

Dec 22, 2021
Questionable to return Wednesday
Hyland suffered a right ankle sprain during Wednesday's game and is questionable to return, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland took a foul after he appeared to tweak his ankle and immediately went to the bench. After testing the ankle in the hallway, Hyland returned to the Nuggets' bench but hasn't yet returned to the game. If he's ultimately ruled out, more minutes would be available for Facundo Campazzo and Austin Rivers.
Dec 17, 2021
Tallies career-high 24 points in win
Hyland closed with 24 points (8-11 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 26 minutes during Friday's 133-115 victory over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Hyland returned to the lineup, having an immediate impact off the bench during Friday's victory over the Hawks. In fact, Hyland led all Nuggets with a career-high 24 points in 26 minutes. It's been an up-and-down start to his career but as evidenced here, he does have an enticing fantasy skill set. He isn't there as a must-roster player but he is certainly worth a look with all the current player absences doing the rounds.
Dec 16, 2021
Will be available Frday
Hyland will be available for Friday's game against the Hawks, Mike Singer of the Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
The Nuggets held Hyland out of Wednesday's loss to the Timberwolves due to a violation of team rules, but at practice Thursday coach Michael Malone told reporters that the rookie will be back in the rotation Friday night. Denver also expects to get Austin Rivers (COVID-19 protocols) back from an eight-game absence.
Dec 15, 2021
Sits for disciplinary reasons
Hyland didn't play Wednesday against the Timberwolves due to a violation of team ruled, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS

Dec 15, 2021
Not active Wednesday
Hyland (undisclosed) won't play in Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland's absence apparently isn't injury-related, but the team hasn't commented further as to why he's inactive for Wednesday's game. Nevertheless, Facundo Campazzo should see increased run in the Nuggets' backcourt as long as Hyland is unavailable.
Dec 8, 2021
Set to play Wednesday
Hyland (health and safety protocols) will be available for Wednesday's game against the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Hyland missed a string of three games due to health and safety protocols, but after making the trip to New Orleans to meet the team, he'll be available off the bench for coach Michael Malone. Hyland could be behind, from a conditioning perspective, but the shorthanded Nuggets will welcome his defense and three-point shooting back to the rotation.
Dec 8, 2021
May play Wednesday
Hyland (health and safety protocols) has been upgraded to likely available for Wednesday's matchup with the Pelicans, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is still listed as doubtful, but Singer reports that the rookie has completed quarantine in Orlando and will likely be available Wednesday. Coming off a three-game absence, it's unclear if Hyland will be limited at all during his potential return.
Dec 7, 2021
Unlikely to play Wednesday
Hyland (health and safety protocols) is doubtful for Wednesday's matchup with the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Hyland is expected to miss his fourth straight game after being placed in protocols Dec. 1. With Austin Rivers already ruled out due to protocols as well, Monte Morris and Facundo Campazzo are both likely to see increased roles against the Pelicans.
Dec 1, 2021
Placed in COVID-19 protocols
Hyland won't play Wednesday at Orlando after being placed in health and safety protocols, Katy Winge of Altitude Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland and Austin Rivers were both placed in health and safety protocols Wednesday, but it's unclear exactly how much time they will miss. During their absence, Monte Morris and Facundo Campazzo will likely both see their usual roles increased, while Markus Howard may get extended minutes off the bench.
Nov 29, 2021
Cleared to return Monday
Hyland (ankle) will return for Monday's game at Miami.
ANALYSIS
An ankle injury suffered on Nov. 21 cost Hyland some time, but given how the schedule broke down, he missed only two contests over the course of seven days. The rookie guard will be back in the rotation as the Nuggets look to snap a six-game losing streak against a Heat team that will be without both Jimmy Butler (back)) and Tyler Herro (soreness). Hyland
Nov 28, 2021
Questionable at Miami
Hyland (ankle) is questionable against the Heat on Monday, according to Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com.
ANALYSIS
Hyland continues to suffer from a sprained right ankle. If unavailable again, Facundo Campazzo will remain the Nuggets' backup point guard Monday.
Nov 26, 2021
Out Friday
Hyland (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
No surprise here, as Hyland was deemed doutbful prior to the contest. His next chance to suit up will come Monday versus the Heat.
Nov 25, 2021
Likely out again Friday
Hyland (ankle) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
The rookie guard is still nursing the sprained ankle that landed him in a walking boot following Sunday's loss to the Suns. The Nuggets haven't officially ruled him out, but Hyland is well on course to miss at least one more contest head ing into the weekend.
Nov 22, 2021
Won't play Tuesday
Hyland (ankle) is out for Tuesday's contest against the Blazers, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was sporting a walking boot on his sprained right ankle after departing Sunday's loss to the Suns, so it isn't a surprise to see him ruled out for Tuesday's contest. The rookie first-round pick is averaging 7.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists across 15.4 minutes in a reserve role for Denver this season. Those minutes will likely be distributed to Facundo Campazzo and Austin Rivers during Hyland's absence.
Nov 22, 2021
Leaves Phoenix in walking boot
Hyland (ankle) left the arena Sunday night in a walking boot, Chris Dempsey of Altitude Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland departed Sunday's loss to Phoenix with a sprained right ankle, and he later posted a photo on his personal Instagram account showing the full walking boot. The Nuggets are yet to comment on Hyland's injury, but reading between the lines it would be a surprise if he's available for Tuesday's game at Portland. His availability for Friday's game against Milwaukee could also be in jeopardy, but Denver has only two games on the schedule this week, so -- injury questions or not -- Hyland shouldn't be started in weekly leagues.
Nov 21, 2021
Won't return to Sunday's game
Hyland (ankle) will not return to Sunday's game against the Suns, Mike Singer of the Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland departed the game late in the first quarter after appearing to roll his right ankle. The Nuggets initially called Hyland questionable to return, but they've since clarified that the rookie will remain out for the rest of the night. Consider Hyland day-to-day heading into the Nuggets' two-game Week 6 which features matchups at Portland (Tuesday) and versus Milwaukee (Friday).
Nov 21, 2021
Questionable to return Sunday
Hyland (ankle) left Sunday's contest against the Lakers and is questionable to return to the game.
ANALYSIS
The rookie out of VCU had played just two minutes in the game before exiting with an ankle;e injury. If Hyland can not return that would presumably lead to more minutes for Facundo Campazzo and Austin Rivers.
Nov 19, 2021
Available against Bulls
Hyland (hip/ankle) is available for Friday's game against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was probable ahead of Friday's matchup and will be able to play through his injury once again. The 21-year-old played 14 minutes in the first half of the back-to-back set.
Nov 19, 2021
Probable Monday
Hyland (hip) is listed as probable for Friday's contest against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
The rookie guard was a game-time-decision Thursday night against the 76ers, but ended up playing 14 minutes in the team's loss. If Hyland can't suit up for their contest Friday, Facundo Campazzo and PJ Dozier emerge as candidates for more opportunities.
Nov 18, 2021
Active Thursay
Hyland (ankle) is listed as active for Thursday's contest against Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
The rookie out VCU was considered a game-time decision for Thursday's contest but will be active against Philadelphia. Hyland has dropped over 12 points in three out of his last four contests as he continues to rise in coach Michael Malone's rotation.
Nov 18, 2021
Game-time decision vs. Sixers
Hyland (ankle) is a game-time decision against the Sixers on Thursday, according to Mike Singer of The Denver Post.
ANALYSIS
Despite him being probable early Thursday, there is an increased chance Hyland may not play.
Nov 18, 2021
Listed as probable
Hyland (ankle) is probable for Thursday's game against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was initially taken off the injury report for Thursday's game, but he still appears likely to play through his left ankle sprain. He's averaged 11.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 19.3 minutes per game across the last four contests.
Nov 17, 2021
Absent from injury report
Hyland (ankle) isn't listed on the injury report for Thursday's game against the 76ers, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland suffered a left ankle injury during Monday's loss to the Mavericks, but it appears to have been a minor issue since he's absent from the injury report. He could have an increased role Thursday with Michael Porter (back) out and Will Barton (back) unlikely to play.
Nov 16, 2021
Limited by left ankle injury
Hyland appeared to suffer a left ankle injury in the first half of Monday's 111-101 loss to the Mavericks and didn't play in the final 8:27 of the contest, Katy Winge of Altitude Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
After putting up a career-high 18 points in the Nuggets' previous game Sunday against the Trail Blazers, Hyland looked to be in line for another elevated role off the bench for the second half of the back-to-back set with all of Will Barton (back), Michael Porter (back) and Jamal Murray (knee) sidelined. Ultimately, Hyland wasn't healthy enough to take advantage of the opportunity, as he was forced to check out of the game in the first half with the injury. He returned to action in the third quarter, only to be sidelined for much of the fourth quarter after he appeared to aggravate the injury. Winge notes that Hyland received some treatment on his ankle and would have been able to return late in the game if needed, but the Nuggets ultimately elected to exercise some caution with the rookie. Consider Hyland questionable heading into the Nuggets' next game Thursday against the 76ers.
Nov 15, 2021
Scores 18 with four threes
Hyland contributed 18 points (5-9 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals across 23 minutes during Sunday's 124-95 loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
The rookie scored in double figures for a third straight game as he continues to provide a nice spark for the Nuggets off the bench. Over the last three games, he's provided 45 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists to go with nine three-pointers. Field goal percentage remains an issue, but Hyland will be worth monitoring if he can consistently earn 20-plus minutes in coach Michael Malone's backcourt rotation.
Nov 9, 2021
Offers spark off bench
Hyland tallied six points (2-7 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two steals, one rebound, one assist and one block in 16 minutes off the bench Monday in the Nuggets' 113-96 win over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Hyland opened the season outside of the Denver rotation, but poor play from the likes of Austin Rivers and Facundo Campazzo has compelled head coach Michael Malone to give the rookie first-round selection a look. While Hyland's 37.5 percent mark from the field and 29 percent mark from three-point range has left much to be desired, he's done well to fill up the stat sheet with averages of 6.6 points, 1.7 assists, 1.3 rebounds, 1.3 triples and 1.1 steals in 15.0 minutes per contest over seven appearances. Hyland could be one of several Nuggets that takes on an increased role offensively while Michael Porter (back) is out indefinitely.
Oct 12, 2021
Gets endorsement from Malone
Coach Michael Malone confirmed that Hyland will be a part of the Nuggets' bench rotation to begin the season, Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports reports. "I think it's undeniable," Malone said of the rookie guard Tuesday. "I think Bones Hyland has been outstanding in the preseason. I think PJ Dozier has been outstanding in the preseason. Those guys are in a really good spot."
ANALYSIS
With Jamal Murray (knee) sidelined for several more months, the Nuggets will need to piece together a backcourt rotation, and both Hyland and Dozier look to be in line to fill consistent roles off the bench. Monte Morris is the presumed fill-in starter at point guard, while Will Barton will likely hold down the shooting guard spot. At 6-3, 173, Hyland has the body of a point guard, but he's capable of defending both backcourt spots, and that end of the court is what will ultimately keep him on the floor early in his career. In Friday's preseason matchup against Minnesota, Hyland finished with 21 points, eight boards, four assists and six three-pointers.
Oct 9, 2021
Hits six threes in OT loss
Hyland provided 21 points (7-13 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes during Friday's 114-112 overtime preseason loss to the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was absolutely launching from beyond the arc, though his performance was muted by the fact that he had six turnovers. He's been a sparkplug for Denver during the preseason. In three contests, the rookie has averaged 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 26.2 minutes.
Oct 5, 2021
Scores 19 in preseason debut
Hyland finished Monday's preseason game against the Clippers with 19 points (8-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.
ANALYSIS
The rookie out of VCU saw a team-high 24 minutes of action off the bench and had an impressive debut, hitting all seven of his two-point attempts and making an impact on the defensive end. Lauded for his defensive intensity in college, Hyland could work his way into the back end of the regular-season rotation for coach Michael Malone as part of the slew of guards who will help compensate for Jamal Murray's (knee) absence.
Aug 10, 2021
Expected to play Tuesday
Hyland (COVID-19) is expected to make his summer league debut Tuesday against Boston, Harrison Wind of BSN Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyland was held out of the opener due to COVID-19, but it looks like he's passed through the league's protocols and should be available as Denver looks to bounce back from a blowout loss in its first Las Vegas game. Hyland was the No. 26 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft out of VCU.
Aug 8, 2021
Out for LVSL opener
Hyland won't be available Sunday for the Nuggets' Las Vegas Summer League matchup with the Heat due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In addition to Hyland, the Nuggets also ruled out Markus Howard and Zeke Nnaji, but it's unclear at this point if any of three tested positive for the virus. Hyland will hope to gain clearance to play in advance of the Nuggets' second game in Las Vegas on Tuesday versus the Celtics.
