Hyland could be one of several Nuggets that takes on an increased role offensively while Michael Porter (back) is out indefinitely.

Hyland was absolutely launching from beyond the arc, though his performance was muted by the fact that he had six turnovers. He's been a sparkplug for Denver during the preseason. In three contests, the rookie has averaged 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 26.2 minutes.

Hyland finished Monday's preseason game against the Clippers with 19 points (8-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.

The rookie out of VCU saw a team-high 24 minutes of action off the bench and had an impressive debut, hitting all seven of his two-point attempts and making an impact on the defensive end. Lauded for his defensive intensity in college, Hyland could work his way into the back end of the regular-season rotation for coach Michael Malone as part of the slew of guards who will help compensate for Jamal Murray's (knee) absence.
