Even though Anthony Edwards will probably grab all the headlines thanks to his 53-point performance in this loss, there's no question Cunningham delivered an outstanding performance in his own right. This was Cunningham's best scoring output of the entire campaign, and just the fifth time he scored more than 30 points in 2024-25.

Cunningham ended Monday's 131-123 loss to the Pacers with 23 points (11-21 FG, 1-6 3Pt), six rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 38 minutes.

Cunningham fell directly in line with his production of late, as he's averaged 23.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 7.4 assists across his past eight games. His performance is quality production for fantasy managers, but Cunningham was a non-factor defensively and was stifled when Indiana brought double-teams and forced him to make secondary decisions with the ball. Cunningham trails only Giannis Antetokounmpo and Devin Booker in usage rate, so his personal production should remain strong, but it's noteworthy that it hasn't translated to winning in the context of Detroit's 20-game losing streak.

Cunningham finished with 21 points (8-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six assists, three rebounds and one steal over 32 minutes in Friday's 123-91 loss to Orlando.

Cunningham led all Pistons in scoring and assists while finishing as the lone player on his team with 20 or more points in a losing effort. Cunningham, who also led Detroit in threes made and minutes played, has been one of the top offensive producers for the Pistons this season and has surpassed the 20-point mark in 15 outings this year.

Cunningham had 16 points (6-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 10 assists, four rebounds, two steals and five turnovers over 34 minutes in Wednesday's 116-102 loss to the Grizzlies.

Cunningham came into Wednesday's game leading the league with 4.4 turnovers per game and had five-plus turnovers for the second time in his last three games. He did register a double-double for the second straight game and his points per game (22.4), assists per game (7.3) and three-point shooting (35.0 percent) are career highs. Cunningham has progressed well in his third year in the league and consistently taking care of the ball is his next step towards reaching All-Star status.

Cunningham had 31 points (12-20 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 37 minutes during Thursday's 118-112 loss to New York.

The Pistons fought hard in this one, and while they took another loss, the performance of their young backcourt of Cunningham and Killian Hayes was encouraging. Cunningham is firmly entrenched as Detroit's primary scoring threat, and the numbers back him up, as he's cleared the 25-point mark in four of his last five appearances. He's averaging 26.0 points, 6.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game in that span.

Cunningham recorded 15 points (6-15 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, five assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Wednesday's 133-107 loss to the Lakers.

The third-year guard led the Pistons in scoring on the night, but it was Cunningham's lowest points output since Nov. 14. After an injury-plagued start to his career, the 2021 first overall pick is still trying to develop a consistent offensive game, but he's showing signs of progress -- during that six-game streak in which he's scored at least 15 points a night, he's shooting 41.9 percent from three-point range while averaging 22.8 points, 6.3 assists, 4.0 boards, 2.2 threes and 0.8 steals.

Cunningham notched 26 points (10-22 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 32 minutes during Monday's 126-107 loss to Washington.

Cunningham led Detroit in the scoring in the loss, as he was the only Piston to exceed 16 points. The third-year point guard also tied for the team lead in assists and committed just one turnover after averaging 4.4 turnovers over his previous five contests. Cunningham still has the worst mark in the league with 4.5 turnovers per game on the season, but he's shown plenty of growth elsewhere, as his averages of 22.2 points, 7.1 dimes and 1.9 triples are each on pace to be a career-best mark.

Cunningham recorded 31 points (10-26 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 9-9 FT), three rebounds and five assists across 38 minutes during Friday's 136-113 loss to Indiana.

Cunningham was impressive despite the 23-point loss, and the point guard continues to enhance his role as Detroit's main offensive threat every time he steps on the court. He's taken a leap forward compared to last season and has looked productive in a struggling Pistons team, averaging 22.0 points and 7.1 assists per game.

Cunningham provided 27 points (7-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 11-11 FT), two rebounds, nine assists, one block and three steals over 38 minutes during Monday's 107-103 loss to Denver.

Cunningham was the top scorer and the top distributor for Detroit, finishing one assist short of a double-double while finishing perfect from the free throw line en route to posting the highest point total of any player in Monday's contest. Cunningham has recorded at least 25 points and eight assists in four games this season.

Cunningham closed with 20 points (9-21 FG, 2-7 3Pt), five rebounds and eight assists over 34 minutes during Friday's 108-100 loss to Cleveland.

Six different Pistons scored in double digits as the team lost its 10th straight game, but Cunningham was the only one to contribute more than 11 points. The third-year guard has looked good to begin the season, averaging a career-high 21.2 points and 7.4 assists a night so far, but his efficiency continues to hold him back from a true breakout -- Cunningham's 40.4 percent field-goal shooting is a career low, and his 29.6 percent shooting from three-point range is also very much a work in progress.

Cunningham registered nine points (4-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt), three rebounds, 12 assists and three steals across 38 minutes during Tuesday's 126-120 loss to the Hawks. He also had six turnovers.

Cunningham is struggling mightily as a scorer. Connecting on just 33.3 percent of 105 shots off the dribble, he is inefficiently creating for himself and underwhelming in pick-and-roll action. Cunningham deserves more time to continue growing, but the lack of a breakout thus far has been extremely disappointing.

Cunningham had 10 points (4-15 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, three rebounds and two blocks over 38 minutes in Sunday's 119-108 loss to the Bulls.

Cunningham managed to keep his 2023-24 double-digit scoring streak alive, but his 10 points Sunday was his lowest scoring total on the year. He managed to limit himself to just one turnover on the night, but he had a team-worst minus-24 point differential for the game. Cunningham is the focal point of the Pistons' offense and will have nights like Sunday's when his shot is not falling, but will continue to shoot in volume.

Cunningham notched 33 points (11-27 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 9-10 FT), eight rebounds and eight assists over 39 minutes during Wednesday's 120-118 loss to the Bucks.

Cunningham did a little bit of everything for Detroit in a home defeat, leading all players in the game in scoring while handing out a team-high assist total and ending two boards and two dimes short of a triple-double. Cunningham set a season-high point total against Milwaukee, his third game with 30 or more points over nine appearances. The third-year guard also tallied a new season high in rebounds in the loss.

Cunningham chipped in 21 points (7-18 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds, five assists and two steals in 40 minutes during Monday's 120-109 loss to Golden State.

The Pistons extended their losing streak to five games, but Cunningham continues to produce at a high level and has reached the 20-point mark in his last four contests. Jalen Duren (ankle) has impressed due to his two-way play, and Ausar Thompson has turned heads with his all-around contributions, but Cunningham's place as Detroit's primary scoring threat is firmly entrenched. He has reached the 20-point mark in six of his eight contests.

Cunningham ended Sunday's 120-106 loss to the Suns with 26 points (12-24 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, six assists and one block in 39 minutes.

Another game, another instance where Cunningham leads the Pistons in scoring. Despite Detroit's ongoing four-game losing streak, Cunningham continues to produce at a high level, and he's putting up solid numbers as a scorer and playmaker. As the engine that makes the offense run on a nightly basis, Cunningham has now scored at least 20 points in five of his seven appearances while dishing out at least five dimes in all but one of those contests.

Cunningham racked up 22 points (8-22 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 4-5 FT), two rebounds, 11 assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Thursday's 125-116 loss to New Orleans.

It's the second double-double in six games for Cunningham, who came into the season with 13 in 76 career NBA contests. The first overall pick in 2021 has taken a big leap forward with his production in the early going, particularly from long range -- he's shooting 41.5 percent on three-point attempts, and his 2.8 threes per game is double the rate he managed in his abbreviated 2022-23 campaign.

Cunningham finished Wednesday's 110-101 loss to Portland with 30 points (11-27 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal over 37 minutes.

Cunningham didn't have his best performance as a shooter since he needed 27 shots to score 30 points, but he still led the Pistons in scoring in a game where the entire team struggled on offense. Cunningham still needs to work on his offensive consistency, but he's enjoying a solid start to the season. Through five games, the third-year floor general averages 22.8 points, 6.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 0.6 steals across 34.4 minutes per game. He has also scored at least 25 points in three of his five appearances.

Cunningham ended Monday's 124-112 loss to the Thunder with 17 points (5-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 4-5 FT), two rebounds and five assists in 35 minutes.

Cunningham didn't have his best performance as a shooter and also failed to make a big impact in other categories, so this outing was a step in the wrong direction compared to his sizzling start. Any player can have an off night, however, and Cunningham's value and role as one of Detroit's best players won't be affected by one bad outing. He'll have a chance to redeem himself against the Trail Blazers -- and highly-touted rookie Scoot Henderson -- on Wednesday.

Cunningham contributed 25 points (9-19 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds and 10 assists over 40 minutes during Saturday's 118-102 victory over Chicago.

Cunningham had to wait until the final stages of the game to secure the double-double after setting a Killian Hayes three-pointer, and it was the first time he recorded 10 dimes this season. The electric point guard has scored at least 25 points in two of his three outings while averaging a solid 8.3 dimes per contest to start the campaign, and he is looking as good as advertised after he missed most of the 2022-23 season with a left tibial stress fracture.

Cunningham ended Wednesday's 103-102 loss to Miami with 30 points (13-27 FG, 4-9 3Pt), three rebounds, nine assists, one block and one steal in 36 minutes.

After playing only 12 games last season due to a shin injury that required surgery, Cunningham sprinted out of the gate on the new campaign as he led all scorers in the game and just missed his first double-double of 2023-24. The 2021 first overall pick could be poised to post some very impressive numbers as the foundation of a young and improving Pistons roster if he can stay healthy.

Cunningham notched seven points (3-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), five rebounds and four assists across 23 minutes in Friday's 114-104 preseason loss to the Mavericks.

Cunningham has been bothered by a nagging quadriceps injury in the preseason, but he seems to have recovered in time to be available for the start of the regular season on Oct. 25. He struggled badly from the field in this one and finished with more field goal attempts than points scored, but one bad preseason outing is not going to change his status as Detroit's starting point guard once the regular season kicks off next week.

Cunningham finished with 14 points (5-10 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and six assists across 22 minutes in Thursday's 118-116 preseason win over the Thunder.

Cunningham got the start at point guard in his return to action and looked impressive, contributing in several categories and looking in complete control of the offense. Even though Killian Hayes has had some decent moments in the preseason, Cunningham will be the starting point guard for the Pistons as long as he remains healthy.

Cunningham (quadriceps) is available for Thursday's preseason game against the Thunder, Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman reports.

Cunningham returned to practice in a full capacity Sunday and will officially be available for Thursday's preseason matchup. It's not yet clear whether he'll also suit up for Friday's exhibition game against Dallas.

The Pistons picked up the team option on Cunningham's contract for the 2024-25 campaign Monday, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.

Cunningham is the Pistons' cornerstone player, so this move isn't surprising at all. The 2021 No. 1 overall pick is looking for a bounce-back campaign after missing most of last season due to a left shin injury that required surgery. If Cunningham returns to form, Detroit will presumably try to extend Cunningham on a supermax deal as soon as possible.

Though putting up some shots isn't a high-intensity activity, Cunningham's participation in warmups is still somewhat perplexing given that he's believed to be dealing with a stress fracture to his left shin that could eventually require surgery. Pistons head coach Dwane Casey has provided little insight into the team's plans for the second-year guard, telling Curtis on Monday that "nothing has changed" with regard to his timeline for a return. While Cunningham doesn't appear to have been shut down from basketball-related activities entirely, he'll likely need to resume practicing in some capacity before his return can be viewed as imminent. Cunningham's fantasy managers in redraft leagues are left with few appealing options other than attempting to trade him or hoping that he eventually gains clearance to play within the next several weeks.

Cunningham, who has missed Detroit's last 12 games with left shin soreness, may require surgery to address the injury, Keith Langlois of the Pistons' official site reports. "It's up to the medical group and to Cade and whatever is best for his health," Casey said. "I'm all for it. Whatever he decides to do, I'm 100 percent behind him."

Though Casey didn't specifically say that surgery could be a possibility for Cunningham, James L. Edwards III and Shams Charania of The Athletic reported back on Nov. 19 that the second-year guard is feared to be dealing with a stress fracture to his shin that could require a procedure. He's struggled to a 32-for-74 mark from the field over his last four contests, though fantasy managers shouldn't be too worried, as the opportunities will continue to be there for the second-year guard.

Cunningham posted his worst scoring figures of the season, and this poor outing snapped his run of four games with 20 or more points. The athletic point guard has been Detroit's best player this season, though, and there's a strong chance this was just a poor outing rather than the norm going forward. Cunningham won't have an easy scenario to bounce back, though, as he will take on a red-hot Cavaliers team that has won six games in a row Friday.

He appears to have taken another step forward after a strong rookie campaign last season.

The Pistons have endured a tough start to the season, but Cunningham can't be the one to blame for the struggles since the second-year guard has been nothing but amazing in the opening two weeks of the campaign. Even though Cunningham ended just one rebound and two dimes away from a triple-double, this was clearly his best performance so far while also surpassing the 30-point mark for the first time in 2022-23. He has also scored at least 20 points in three of his last four appearances.

Cunningham contributed 19 points (7-19 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal over 32 minutes during Tuesday's 120-99 loss to the Wizards.

Cunningham has now scored at least 15 points in each of his first four games, but he's also delivered solid numbers in other categories as well. It's been a strong start to the season for the second-year guard, though fantasy managers would certainly hope for an uptick in terms of efficiency, as he's shooting just 38.6 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from three-point range to start the year.

Cunningham closed with 15 points (6-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 32 minutes during Friday's 130-106 loss to the Knicks.

After posting a double-double against the Magic on Wednesday to kick off his second NBA season, Cunningham was all over the stat sheet again in this one. The 21-year-old guard can make a fantasy impact in a variety of ways, and with more help on offense following the offseason additions of Jaden Ivey and Bojan Bogdanovic, Cunningham could see his production in boards, assists and defensive stats all rise.

Cunningham scored 18 points (6-16 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT) to go along with 10 assists, one rebound and a steal over 35 minutes during Wednesday's 113-109 win over the Magic.

Cunningham didn't have the best night shooting the ball but he made up for it by facilitating the offense. The team's first four points came off of assists from Cunningham, setting up easy two-point buckets for Jaden Ivey and Isaiah Stewart. The Pistons guard came out in the third and hit 4-of-7 shots in the quarter to go along with another three dimes to extend Detroit's lead. Cunningham did, however, miss all five of his shots in the fourth quarter.

Cunningham compiled 15 points (5-16 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds and six assists in 29 minutes in Thursday's 126-111 loss to Memphis.

Cunningham made four of his first eight shot attempts but lost his touch and missed seven of his last eight shots. The 21-year-old has struggled from the field all preseason and is just 18-for-49 shooting and 5-for-21 from beyond the arc. While he's scoring only 10.5 points per game in the preseason, he's found other ways to be productive and is averaging 5.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists in four contests.

Cunningham totaled 10 points (3-13 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), eight rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks in 29 minutes during Tuesday's loss to Oklahoma City.

Cunningham struggled with his shot in the loss but still walked away with a tasty line, including five defensive contributions. After a strong rookie campaign, Cunningham has caught the attention of managers everywhere, resulting in a leap up the rankings. For anyone keen on acquiring the athletic sophomore, a selection in the second round is looking like the price required.

Cunningham's personal trainer said Wednesday that the 20-year-old won't be playing for the Pistons' entry in the Las Vegas Summer League, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Cunningham is likely fully healthy after a sore right hip kept him sidelined for the Pistons' April 10 season finale against the 76ers, but Detroit saw enough from the 2021 No. 1 overall pick as a rookie to justify not exposing him to a potential injury by having him play in games this summer. He ultimately finished third in the Rookie of the Year balloting behind Scottie Barnes and Evan Mobley after averaging 17.4 points, 5.6 assists, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 three-pointers, 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocks in 32.6 minutes per game across 64 appearances. Cunningham's efficiency from the field improved as the season rolled along, and he should be primed to take another step forward in that area in 2022-23 while likely handling an even more focal role on offense. Cunningham finished with 21 points (8-19 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 assists, seven rebounds, two steals and one block in 36 minutes during Saturday's 116-107 loss to the Rockets.

Though Detroit couldn't get the win, Cunningham set a new career high with 11 assists, and it was also the first game of his career with at least 20 points and 10 dimes. The rookie has found his stride lately and has now scored at least 15 points in nine straight games. His defense has been great as well. Over the past four games, he's totaled nine steals and four blocks.

The Bulls are dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak that's landed 10 players in health and safety protocols, so the league has pushed Tuesday's game in an effort to limit potential exposure. While the postponement hinders Cunningham's fantasy upside, the Pistons still have three more games on their Week 9 schedule, beginning with Thursday's game at Indiana. Detroit is also scheduled to play Saturday (vs. Houston) and Sunday (vs. Miami).

While Tuesday's performance is a step back, he's been getting more and more comfortable after missing all of the preseason and the first four regular-season contests.

After struggling offensively over the past two games, the rookie bounced back terrifically Monday and dropped a new career high. It was Cunningham's second time reaching the 20-point mark. Elsewhere, Cunningham nearly tallied his first triple-double, as the 2021 first-overall pick also totaled a career best in assists. In eight outings so far this season, Cunningham has scored in double figures in five matchups while hauling in at least six rebounds in four appearances.

On a more positive note, the No. 1 pick appears to be getting more comfortable out there and will continue to have all the freedom he needs to settle into the offense.
