Collin Sexton Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Hawks vs Hornets game on Thursday with our National Basketball Association injury report.Dec 6, 2025
Out again Sunday
Sexton (thigh) will not play Sunday against the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will miss a second straight game, and it's not a great sign for his fantasy managers that he's being ruled out a day in advance. With LaMelo Ball (ankle) and Tre Mann (knee) also out, the Hornets will likely use a committee approach to soak up the backcourt minutes.
Dec 4, 2025
Out for Friday
Sexton has been ruled out for Friday's game in Toronto due to a left thigh strain.
ANALYSIS
The Hornets initially labeled Sexton's injury a knee contusion after he was forced out of Wednesday's game, but his injury has now been updated to a "thigh strain." His absence from the active roster should open up some minutes for KJ Simpson, Antonio Reeves and Liam McNeeley. For now, Sexton should be considered questionable for Sunday's meeting with the Nuggets.
Dec 3, 2025
Won't return Wednesday
Sexton won't return to Wednesday's game against the Knicks due to a left knee contusion.
ANALYSIS
Sexton played nine minutes before leaving this game for good during the second half. He finished with four points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), two assists and one block. If he misses additional time, the Hornets could turn to Antonio Reeves and Sion James.
Dec 2, 2025
Instant offense off bench
Sexton logged 15 points (5-10 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one steal in 19 minutes during Monday's 116-103 loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
With Brandon Miller (shoulder) and Tre Mann (ankle) both in street clothes Monday, Sexton scored an efficient 15 points off the bench but didn't see a rise in playing time. The veteran guard is a fine low-end option in points leagues, but his high turnover rate and lack of contributions across the board severely limits his effectiveness in category-based leagues. Sexton has averaged 16.1 points, 4.4 assists, 2.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 2.6 turnovers per contest in 20 games this season.
Nov 26, 2025
Slides to bench
Sexton will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
The Hornets' entire preferred starting five is healthy Wednesday, pushing Sexton to the second unit after starting Sunday's game against Atlanta. In six appearances with the reserves this season, Sexton is averaging 15.7 points and 3.7 assists across 22.3 minutes.
Nov 23, 2025
Sets season high in loss
Sexton contributed 22 points (8-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT) and four assists in 36 minutes during Sunday's 113-110 loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
After coming off the bench in each of his previous three outings, the eighth-year guard got the starting nod due to LaMelo Ball (ankle) and Brandon Miller (shoulder) being sidelined. Sexton struggled from three-point range but still finished as Charlotte's second-leading scorer, setting a new season-high mark in points. He has scored in double figures in 10 straight games and continues to provide an offensive spark for the Hornets. While he'll likely shift to a bench role whenever Ball and Miller are available, Sexton is expected to continue seeing significant minutes.
Nov 23, 2025
Starting role Sunday
Sexton is in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Hawks, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will make his 10th start of the season Sunday with LaMelo Ball (ankle) and Brandon Miller (shoulder) sidelined. In his nine previous starts, Sexton has averaged 15.2 points, 5.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 28.6 minutes per game.
Nov 22, 2025
Leads bench with 18 points
Sexton posted 18 points (7-13 FG, 4-4 FT), four assists, three bounds and one steal over 22 minutes during the Hornets' 131-116 loss to the Clippers on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Sexton led the Hornets' bench in scoring Saturday and was one of five Hornets players to score at least 18 points. The veteran guard's usage on offense was steady despite the return of Brandon Miller, though Sexton's production could dip as the former's playing time increases. Sexton has averaged 13.8 points, 4.8 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 0.6 steals over 25.7 minutes per game since Nov. 1.
Nov 17, 2025
Returning to bench
Sexton isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Sexton drew the start Saturday due to the absence of LaMelo Ball, but the Alabama product will retreat to a bench role Monday evening. He was effective in his last showing as a reserve, finishing with 14 points and four assists despite logging only 16 minutes Friday against Milwaukee.
Nov 16, 2025
Scores 13 in starting role
Sexton posted 13 points (5-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists and one steal over 30 minutes during Saturday's 109-96 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Sexton got the start at point guard due to the absence of LaMelo Ball (rest). While he didn't have his best shooting performance after needing 13 shots to score 13 points, he had a decent output in peripheral categories. Sexton has been in and out of the starting five, but it wouldn't be surprising if he reverts back to the bench Monday at Toronto if Ball is cleared to return.
Nov 15, 2025
Returns to starting role
Sexton is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Sexton returns to the first unit due to the absence of LaMelo Ball (rest). The veteran floor general is averaging 15.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 0.9 steals per game in eight starts this season.
Nov 15, 2025
Just 16 minutes in loss
Sexton logged 14 points (4-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound and four assists over 16 minutes during Friday's 147-134 overtime loss to Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Sexton moved back to the bench with LaMelo Ball returning from his ankle injury. The move impacted Sexton, limiting him to just 16 minutes. While he did manage to score 14 points, the bigger takeaway was the reduced playing time, a fact that could end up with him being nothing more than a streaming consideration. With that said, there is a chance Ball will sit out Saturday's game against the Thunder, meaning Sexton could get a short reprieve.
Nov 14, 2025
Not starting Friday
Sexton isn't part of the starting lineup for Friday's game against Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
LaMelo Ball is returning from a multi-game absence Friday, and instead of lining up alongside Ball in the backcourt, Sexton will be coming off the bench. Sexton had started in eight of 10 appearances to start the season. Sion James will start at the shooting guard spot.
Nov 13, 2025
Adds 16 despite shooting struggles
Sexton totaled 16 points (5-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 111-100 win over the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton never quite got comfortable on the offensive end, needing 14 field-goal attempts to reach 16 points. The guard has dealt with both a neck and ankle injury over the last week or so but has now been able to suit up for two straight matchups. Sexton has scored in double figures in nine of 10 appearances this year, averaging 15.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 26.9 minutes.
Nov 12, 2025
Available Wednesday
Sexton (ankle) is listed as available for Wednesday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Sexton will shed his probable tag due to a right ankle strain and suit up against Milwaukee. Over his last five appearances (four starts), the 26-year-old guard has averaged 13.6 points and 5.2 assists in 26.0 minutes per contest. He's expected to remain in the starting lineup with both LaMelo Ball (ankle) and Brandon Miller (shoulder) sidelined.
Nov 11, 2025
Probable for Wednesday
Sexton (ankle) is probable for Wednesday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is dealing with a right ankle strain but is still likely to suit up against Milwaukee. If he's ultimately cleared to suit up, the 26-year-old guard is expected to remain in the starting five with LaMelo Ball (ankle) and Brandon Miller (shoulder) both sidelined. Over his last five appearances (four starts), Sexton has averaged 13.6 points and 5.2 assists in 26.0 minutes per contest.
Nov 9, 2025
Off injury report for Monday
Sexton (neck) isn't listed on the Hornets' injury report for Monday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
After missing Friday's loss to the Heat due to a neck issue, Sexton will return to game action Monday. The 26-year-old guard is likely to see increased minutes against the Lakers with LaMelo Ball (ankle) sidelined. Over his last five games (four starts), Sexton has averaged 14.6 points, 5.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 26.2 minutes per contest.
Nov 7, 2025
Ruled out for Friday
Sexton (neck) has been ruled out for Friday's game in Miami.
ANALYSIS
With Sexton set to join LaMelo Ball (ankle) on the inactive list Friday evening, the Hornets will be very thin at point guard. Tre Mann is coming off an 18-point game, and he could be headed for a spot-start, making him an intriguing streamer option. KJ Simpson might also see a season-high in minutes Friday night. Sexton's next chance to play will come Monday against the Lakers.
Nov 7, 2025
Now unlikely to play Friday
Sexton (neck) is doubtful for Friday's game against Heat, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
This is a surprising development, considering Sexton was originally tabbed as probable for Friday. The veteran guard is now likely to join LaMelo Ball (ankle) in street clothes, meaning Tre Mann and Sion James stand out as the most likely fantasy beneficiaries in the backcourt.
Nov 6, 2025
Expected to play Friday
Sexton (neck) is probable for Friday's game against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is battling a neck strain, but the injury is not expected to stop him from playing Friday. With LaMelo Ball (ankle) a question mark to suit up, Sexton would be in position to function as the top point guard for the Hornets if Ball cannot get cleared to go. Sexton has averaged 16.1 points, 5.3 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 26.4 minutes per contest over eight games this season.
Nov 1, 2025
Starting Saturday
Sexton will start in Saturday's game against the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
After coming off the bench in Thursday's loss to Orlando, Sexton will return to the starting lineup. Over five regular-season appearances (three starts), the 26-year-old guard has averaged 18.6 points, 4.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 26.4 minutes per contest.
Oct 30, 2025
Riding with second unit
Sexton is coming off the bench in Thursday's game against Orlando, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
The Hornets will give Sion James a look in the first unit, breaking up a three-game start streak for Sexton. Sexton logged 17 minutes in his lone reserve outing this year, so he could find difficulty in cracking the 20-minute marker.
Oct 29, 2025
Strong line despite loss
Sexton contributed 18 points (7-11 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and six assists across 27 minutes during Tuesday's 144-117 loss to Miami.
ANALYSIS
With Brandon Miller (shoulder) sidelined for at least the immediate future, coach Charles Lee is likely to lean on Sexton for his leadership and ball-handling abilities. The veteran is off to a great start in Charlotte, posting averages of 18.5 points, 4.8 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.5 three-pointers through four regular-season contests.
Oct 26, 2025
Scores 21 points in loss to Sixers
Sexton produced 21 points (7-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), two rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 30 minutes during Saturday's 125-121 loss to the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton finished second on the team in scoring with his 21 points against the Sixers on Saturday night. Across two outings with his new franchise, the 26-year-old is averaging 18.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 turnovers in 23.6 minutes per game. Sexton has been the starter alongside LaMelo Ball in Charlotte's backcourt to begin the year, and his next chance to produce will come against the Wizards on Sunday.
Oct 25, 2025
Starting Saturday
Sexton will start in Saturday's game against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old guard will supplant Kon Knueppel in the starting five on Saturday. Sexton logged 17 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's season-opening win over the Nets, posting 15 points (4-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three assists, one rebound and one steal.
Oct 22, 2025
Not starting Wednesday
Sexton will come off the bench in Wednesday's regular season opener against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton started Charlotte's preseason finale with a lot of key guys getting hit with a rest day, but he'll return to a reserve role Wednesday night. He should still be able to provide some points, triples and assists as a member of the second unit, but his upside will be capped.
Oct 17, 2025
Scores 21 points with 10 assists
Sexton recorded 21 points (6-9 FG, 5-6 3PT, 4-4 FT), 10 assists, two rebounds, one steal and nine turnovers in 27 minutes during Friday's 113-108 Preseason loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was able to operate as the primary conductor on offense in this one, with LaMelo Ball (knee) and Brandon Miller (wrist) taking the night off, and he made the most of the opportunity. Sexton will likely be the lead guy in Charlotte's second unit this season, but his as long as Ball and Miller are healthy, his upside will be capped.
Oct 17, 2025
Starting preseason finale
Sexton will start Friday's preseason finale against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
With LaMelo Ball (knee), Tre Mann (hip) and Brandon Miller (wrist) sidelined, Sexton will start at point guard. He'll be surrounded by Kon Knueppel, Liam McNeeley, Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate.
Oct 15, 2025
Back to bench Wednesday
Sexton is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's preseason game against Memphis.
ANALYSIS
While he started Saturday's preseason game against the Mavericks, Sexton will instead come off the bench Wednesday as the Hornets tinker with their starting lineup. Given LaMelo Ball's lengthy injury history, Sexton has some contingent upside in fantasy leagues this season if Ball were to go down.
Oct 11, 2025
Starting against Dallas
Sexton is in the starting lineup for Saturday's preseason game against the Mavericks, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is one of the players competing for a role in the Hornets' backcourt, but he should be a lock to make the rotation even if he comes off the bench. Sexton had 15 points and two assists in a preseason loss to the Thunder on Thursday.
Oct 10, 2025
Looks sharp in 15 minutes
Sexton produced 15 points (5-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two assists, one rebound and one steal in 15 minutes of Thursday's 122-116 preseason loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Sexton came off the bench for the second game in a row Thursday, but he made a big impact in this one. Kon Knueppeland Tre Mann have each started one preseason game so far, but based on coach Charles Lee's comments, Sexton may get a chance to showcase what he can in the first unit as well -- Lee mentioned the Hornets may base their starters on the matchups.
Oct 6, 2025
Candidate to start based on matchup
Head coach Charles Lee suggested Sunday that Sexton could be a candidate to start this season, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Lee also mentioned Kon Knueppel, who started Sunday's preseason opener against the Thunder, and Tre Mann as possibilities for a starting role in 2025-26. With this situation in a state of flux, matchups could dictate who gets the nod in the first unit on a game-to-game basis. Sexton should still play a significant role as a scorer off the bench, as he averaged 18.4 points, 4.2 assists and 1.7 three-pointers 27.9 minutes per game in 63 contests for the Jazz in 2024-25.
Jun 29, 2025
Traded to Charlotte
The Jazz traded Sexton and a 2031 second-round pick to the Hornets on Sunday in exchange for Jusuf Nurkic, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton averaged at least 18 points, 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds while posting 48/39/86 shooting splits over his final two seasons in Utah and will now join his third NBA team. It's still early in the offseason, so Sexton could be on the move again, but if he sticks in Charlotte, he'd presumably be one of the top reserve guards behind LaMelo Ball (ankle), Brandon Miller (wrist) and Kon Knueppel. Sexton has one year remaining on his current deal and is slated to make $19 million in 2025-26.
Apr 11, 2025
Not starting Friday
Sexton is not in Utah's starting lineup against Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has started in all but two games this season, but he'll come off the bench for the first time since Oct. 31 while Jaden Springer makes his first start of the season. Sexton has averaged 20.1 points, 4.0 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals over 26.8 minutes per game over his last 10 outings.
Apr 6, 2025
Full stat line in loss
Sexton produced 27 points (9-16 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), six assists, five rebounds and two steals across 37 minutes during Sunday's 147-134 loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old provided a full stat line while finishing as Utah's second-leading scorer behind Keyonte George (35 points). Sexton has recorded at least 20 points in four of his last five appearances, during which he has averaged 22.6 points, 4.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals across 29.8 minutes per game. Moreover, the seventh-year guard racked up multiple steals for the ninth time in 62 regular-season appearances.
Apr 5, 2025
Leads Jazz with 27 points
Sexton contributed 27 points (8-15 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 9-10 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals in 33 minutes during Friday's 140-112 loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton led the way for the Jazz with 27 points, dropping at least 20 points for the third time in the past five games, one of which he was resting. Despite Utah resting a number of their players, Sexton's availability has remained relatively consistent. He has played in seven of the past eight games, scoring at least 15 points in all but one appearance.
Apr 2, 2025
Cleared to play
Sexton (pelvis) is available for Wednesday's game against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will be back in action after missing Monday's tilt against the Hornets. Over his last six games, Sexton has averaged 19.0 points, 3.7 assists, 1.7 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.8 three-pointers.
Apr 1, 2025
Iffy for Wednesday
Sexton (pelvis) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Houston.
ANALYSIS
After missing Monday's tilt against the Hornets with a pelvic contusion, Sexton's status remains uncertain for Wednesday. Johnny Juzang made the start in Sexton's stead Monday and would likely do so again if the latter remains sidelined, and Keyonte George took on additional ball-handling duties off the bench against Charlotte.
Mar 31, 2025
Ruled out Monday
Sexton (pelvis) is out for Monday's game against Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is dealing with a right pelvic contusion, so he can be deemed day-to-day ahead of Wednesday's matchup against Houston. The star guard's absence could allow Keyonte George to make his way into Utah's starting lineup, with Johnny Juzang and Brice Sensabaugh also being options to see a boost in minutes.
Mar 30, 2025
Working through pelvic injury
Sexton is listed as questionable for Monday's game against Charlotte due to a right pelvic contusion.
ANALYSIS
Sexton may have picked up the injury during Friday's 129-93 loss to the Nuggets, and he is in jeopardy of missing Monday's game as a result. He has played in 10 of Utah's last 11 games and has averaged 18.2 points, 4.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds over 27.1 minutes per game over that span. Keyonte George and Johnny Juzang would be the top candidates to enter the Jazz's starting lineup if Sexton is not cleared to play Monday.
Mar 29, 2025
Pops for team-high 20 in loss
Sexton closed with 20 points (8-18 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Friday's 129-93 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old guard reached 20 points for the second straight game as he led the Jazz in scoring. Sexton has dropped 20-plus in five of his last nine appearances, and with Jordan Clarkson (foot) ruled out for the rest of the season, there will be additional shots up for grabs in the Utah backcourt. Over that nine-game span, Sexton is averaging 18.4 points, 3.9 assists, 2.6 boards, 1.4 threes and 0.8 steals while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and 40.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Mar 28, 2025
Paces team with 21 points in loss
Sexton chipped in 21 points (9-20 FG, 3-4 3Pt), one rebound, five assists and one steal across 32 minutes during Thursday's 121-110 loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's continued success wasn't enough to end Utah's skid. Although the team is currently in a death spiral, Sexton and Isaiah Collier have been worthy fantasy targets in a backcourt that is deep with talent. Utah may utilize the overload of guards in the open market during the offseason, making every performance a potential audition for future work elsewhere.
Mar 26, 2025
Logs 15 points in defeat
Sexton accumulated 15 points (4-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, five assists and two steals over 18 minutes during Tuesday's 140-103 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Sexton only played 18 minutes in the blowout loss but inflicted swift damage as the Jazz took an early lead. He eventually gave way to a combo of Johnny Juzang and Keyonte George for the rest of the game, indicating that his recent ankle injury may still be an issue. An upcoming back-to-back may affect Sexton's status heading into the weekend.
Mar 22, 2025
Leads team as skid continues
Sexton supplied 30 points (12-16 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), two rebounds, three assists and one steal over 36 minutes during Friday's 121-99 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Sexton logged an excellent night as he helped to spur a late rally that closed the gap against the Celtics. A tepid effort from the remaining four first-unit players ultimately thwarted them, as Sexton was the only starter to finish in double digits. The Jazz could begin to shut down their best players in the coming weeks, but a lack of depth in the backcourt will likely keep Sexton active until the end of the season.
Mar 18, 2025
Removed from injury report
Sexton is off the injury report for Wednesday's game against the Wizards, Ben Anderson of KSL News Salt Lake City reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is set to be available Wednesday after getting Monday night off against the Bulls for rest purposes. The veteran guard has averaged 16.3 points, 5.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 0.9 three-pointers in 25.5 minutes through his last seven appearances.
Mar 17, 2025
Won't play Monday
Sexton (rest) won't play Monday against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will be held out of the second leg of this back-to-back set for left leg injury management. Meanwhile, Keyonte George (foot) and Jordan Clarkson (foot) are both listed as questionable. Based on whoever is available, guys like Svi Mykhailiuk and Johnny Juzang could step into increased roles for Utah.
Mar 16, 2025
Team-high 22 points in loss
Sexton contributed 22 points (9-18 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Sunday's 128-102 loss to the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Sunday's performance was Sexton's 22nd of the campaign reaching the 20-point marker. With Keyonte George and Jordan Clarkson both dealing with foot injuries, Sexton should continue to operate as one of Utah's go-to scoring options as long as the former two are sidelined. Sexton has averaged 16.3 points, 5.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 0.9 three-pointers in 25.5 minutes through his last seven appearances. It wouldn't be surprising to see Sexton pop up on the injury report ahead of Monday's tilt against the Bulls, though.
Mar 13, 2025
Tallies season-high eight rebounds
Sexton supplied 22 points (9-17 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT), eight rebounds and seven assists across 30 minutes during Wednesday's 122-115 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Sexton played in his second straight contest Wednesday for the first time since the beginning of February. The 26-year-old has returned to his starting point guard role after missing time due to an ankle injury. Over his last five appearances, Sexton is averaging 16.8 points, 5.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 24.8 minutes.
Mar 11, 2025
Dishes out 13 assists
Sexton ended Monday's 114-108 loss to Boston with 16 points (6-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and 13 assists over 33 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Sexton didn't have his best shooting performance en route to 16 points, but he stood out in his playmaking role and notched a season-high in assists. Sexton has been playing one game and resting the other, and if that tendency continues, he might sit Wednesday's game at Memphis. The veteran is averaging 17.4 points per game over his last 10 contests.
Mar 10, 2025
Omitted from injury report
Sexton (ankle) is not listed on Utah's injury report for Monday's game against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
After resting during the first half of Utah's back-to-back set, Sexton will return to action Monday. Over his last three appearances (all starts), Sexton has averaged 15.3 points, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 20.3 minutes per game
Mar 9, 2025
Sitting out Sunday
Sexton (ankle) is listed out for Sunday's game against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will be sidelined for the third time in six games due to left ankle injury management, joining multiple other key rotation players in street clothes. With Jordan Clarkson (foot) among that group of players sitting out, the Jazz will likely turn to Keyontae George, Johnny Juzang and Svi Mykhailiuk to handle most of the minutes at shooting guard Sunday.
Mar 8, 2025
Scores 17 points in loss
Sexton notched 17 points (6-15 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-8 FT), two rebounds, three assists and one block in 24 minutes during Friday's 118-109 loss to the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Sexton returned after a one-game absence and posted a solid stat line, but he hasn't been shooting the ball particularly well. In three games since the All-Star break, the veteran guard is making just 42.1 percent of his shots from the field and only 20.0 percent of his treys. The recent struggles, coupled with the multiple absences Sexton has had of late, certainly limit his upside. That absence pattern is not going to change in the final weeks of the season.
Mar 6, 2025
Good to go Friday
Sexton (ankle) isn't on the injury report for Friday's game versus the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will return to action Friday after missing Utah's previous contest due to a left ankle injury. Sexton has averaged 18.3 points, 4.5 assists and 29 rebounds in 25.6 minutes across his last 10 appearances.
Mar 4, 2025
Won't go Wednesday
Sexton has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards due to left ankle injury management, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will miss his 12th outing since Feb. 5 while the Jazz manage his playing time due to a left ankle injury. Svi Myhailiuk, Jaden Springer (back) and Johnny Juzang are all candidates for a bump in playing time due to Sexton and Jordan Clarkson (foot) being sidelined.
Mar 3, 2025
Cleared to play vs. Detroit
Sexton (ankle) will play Monday night against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was held out of Sunday's matchup against the Pelicans but has been given the green light to suit up Monday. He missed nearly the entire month of February while recovering from a left ankle sprain, so he may still be monitored closely in only his second game back.
Mar 3, 2025
Listed questionable for Monday
Sexton (ankle) is questionable for Monday's game against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Sexton sat out Sunday's game against the Pelicans for the front end of this back-to-back set, but the veteran guard remains day-to-day. He could be poised for a large workload if he gets the green light Monday, as Lauri Markkanen (back) and Jordan Clarkson (foot) are out once again.
Mar 1, 2025
Won't play Sunday
Sexton is out for Sunday's game against the Pelicans due to left ankle injury management.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz will be without several of their regular starters Sunday, either due to rest or injury management, and this means Sexton will sit out as well. The veteran guard played only 17 minutes in the win over the Timberwolves on Friday in what was his first appearance since a 10-game absence between Feb. 5 and Feb. 26. It seems the Jazz are simply being cautious with Sexton's recovery process.
Mar 1, 2025
Scores 13 points in return
Sexton finished Friday's 117-116 win over Minnesota with 13 points (5-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound and three assists in 17 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was given the green light to play Friday after missing Utah's last 10 games due to a left ankle sprain. He operated under a minutes restriction and was on the floor for only 17 minutes, but he managed to reach double-digit points and finished with a plus-13 point differential, third-best on the Jazz behind Walker Kessler (plus-23) and Isaiah Collier (plus-16). Sexton will likely continue to play under a minutes restriction while working his way into game shape, though he should remain in the Jazz's starting lineup alongside Collier in the backcourt.
Feb 28, 2025
Returning Friday vs. Minnesota
Sexton (ankle) is available for Friday's game against the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
A left ankle sprain has prevented Sexton from playing in Utah's last 10 games, bu the veteran guard out of Alabama has progressed enough in his recovery to be cleared to return Friday. He had averaged 21.8 points, 5.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds over 31.1 minutes per game across the 20 games prior to sustaining the injury against the Pacers on Feb. 3. Sexton's return will likely lead to Isaiah Collier retreating to the bench for Friday's contest.
Feb 27, 2025
Iffy for Friday
Sexton (ankle) is questionable for Friday's game against the Timberwolves, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has missed 10 games in a row due to a left ankle sprain, but the fact that he's listed as questionable for Friday suggests he might be getting closer to returning to the hardwood. Johnny Juzang and Svi Mykhailiuk have been experiencing an uptick in minutes with Sexton sidelined, but both should lose some of their playing time if Sexton is deemed ready to return.
Feb 25, 2025
Remains out for Wednesday
Sexton (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against Sacramento, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will miss his 10th consecutive contest Wednesday due to a left ankle sprain. The Jazz announced that the combo guard resumed on-court activities Saturday, which bodes well for his potential return in the near future. With Sexton sidelined, Johnny Juzang and Svi Mykhailiuk could see an uptick in playing time.
Feb 22, 2025
Progressing in recovery
The Jazz announced Saturday that Sexton (ankle) has resumed on-court activities and is nearing a return to action but will be re-evaluated early next week.
ANALYSIS
Sexton hasn't played since Feb. 3 due to a sprained left ankle but should return to action soon. With Jordan Clarkson (foot) also for Saturday's game versus Houston, Keyonte George should continue to receive increased playing time until Sexton is able to suit up.
Feb 20, 2025
Won't go Friday
Sexton (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Thunder, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will miss his seventh consecutive contest due to a sprained left ankle. His next opportunity to suit up will come Saturday against Houston. There is no clear timetable for the 26-year-old's return to game action, though Isaiah Collier and Svi Mykhailiuk are candidates to continue receiving a bump in minutes with Sexton on the shelf.
Feb 13, 2025
Another absence coming
Sexton (ankle) is out for Thursday's game versus the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's absence streak will extend to six games Thursday due to a left ankle sprain. With Jordan Clarkson (foot) also out, Keyonte George should receive increased playing time. Sexton's next chance to suit up will come after the All-Star break against the Thunder on Feb. 21.
Feb 11, 2025
Not playing Wednesday
Sexton (ankle) is out for Wednesday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will be sidelined for the first leg of this back-to-back set before the All-Star break, and the absence of the star guard will decimate Utah's offense considerably. This will be his fifth straight absence, leading to Jordan Clarkson keeping his place in the starting unit.
Feb 4, 2025
Out at least a week
The Jazz announced Tuesday that Sexton suffered a left ankle sprain during the first quarter of Monday's game versus the Pacers, and while X-rays were negative, he will be re-evaluated in one week.
ANALYSIS
Sexton played just three minutes Monday before suffering his left ankle sprain. Keyonte George and Jordan Clarkson are candidates to receive increased playing time in his absence. While Sexton could return to action sometime next week, it wouldn't be surprising for him to sit out through the All-Star break.
Feb 3, 2025
Won't return Monday
Sexton won't return to Monday's game against the Pacers due to a left ankle sprain.
ANALYSIS
Sexton limped back to the locker room after playing only three minutes Monday, during which he posted two points (1-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one rebound. With the 26-year-old sidelined, Keyonte George and Jordan Clarkson will likely see a bump in minutes the rest of the way.
Feb 3, 2025
Exits to locker room Monday
Sexton went back to the locker room after sustaining an apparent left ankle injury in the first quarter of Monday's game against Indiana, Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton limped back to the locker room after appearing to roll his left ankle on a drive to the basket. If the 26-year-old is unable to return, Keyonte George and Jordan Clarkson should pick up the slack the rest of the way.
Feb 1, 2025
Team-high 22 points Saturday
Sexton recorded 22 points (6-15 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 9-9 FT), five rebounds and eight assists over 31 minutes during Saturday's 113-99 victory over Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Sexton led the Jazz in scoring and assists Saturday and finished as the game's third-leading scorer behind Franz Wagner (37) and Cole Anthony (23). Sexton has scored at least 20 points in 11 of his last 14 games, and over that span he has averaged 21.6 points, 5.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds over 30.7 minutes per contest while shooting 39.4 percent from three on 5.1 3PA/G.
Jan 31, 2025
Contributes 19 points in loss
Sexton had 19 points (5-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five assists and three rebounds across 30 minutes during Thursday's 138-113 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old finished as the club's second-leading scorer behind Keyonte George (23 points), albeit in a blowout loss. Sexton has been solid through 13 appearances in January, during which he has averaged 21.5 points, 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 30.8 minutes per contest. With the rebuilding Jazz positioned to be sellers at the Feb. 6 trade deadline, the seventh-year pro could be a candidate to be moved with the club likely to rely more heavily on its young core.
Jan 29, 2025
Drops 30 points in loss
Sexton notched 30 points (12-19 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, four assists and two steals over 34 minutes during Tuesday's 114-103 loss to Golden State.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz were missing most of their key contributors Tuesday for the second leg of this back-to-back set, allowing Sexton to soak up a ton of usage. A lot of players in Utah are seeing their names in the rumor mill with the team positioned to be sellers, and Sexton is one of them. His fantasy value can swing in a big way in either direction depending on how the deadline goes.
Jan 28, 2025
Goes for 19 points Monday
Sexton ended with 19 points (6-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes during Monday's 125-110 loss to Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was one of the few standout performers for the Jazz in yet another loss, though at least the veteran guard continues to be consistently productive despite the team's overall struggles. Sexton has surpassed the 15-point mark in 17 outings in a row, a stretch in which he's posted a solid stat line of 21.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the floor.
Jan 26, 2025
Struggles from deep Saturday
Sexton produced 20 points (5-17 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 9-10 FT), three rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes during Saturday's 125-103 loss to Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Sexton had a decent stat line on the surface, but it was impossible to overlook his shooting woes, as he missed 12 of his 17 shots and all but one of his shots from beyond the arc. Truthfully, the fact that he went 9-for-10 from the charity stripe salvaged what would've otherwise been a woeful fantasy line. Despite the shooting woes, Sexton remains awfully consistent as a scoring weapon for the rebuilding Jazz and has scored at least 20 points in seven of his last eight appearances.
Jan 21, 2025
Available for Wednesday
Sexton (rest) isn't on the injury report for Wednesday's game versus the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will return to action Wednesday after missing Utah's previous outing due to rest purposes. Sexton is averaging 21.6 points, 4.8 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 30.7 minutes across his last 10 appearances.
Jan 19, 2025
Won't play Monday
Sexton won't play Monday against the Pelicans due to rest purposes, Ben Anderson of KSL News Salt Lake City reports.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz will be missing several regulars Monday and Sexton has been a late addition to the list due to rest-related reasons. This means Isaiah Collier and Svi Mykhailiuk could be in line to log more minutes. Sexton's next chance to play will come against the Thunder on Wednesday.
Jan 14, 2025
Out for Wednesday
Sexton (rest) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Hornets, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will get a night off for the first time this season, and his next chance to play will come Friday against the Pelicans. With the 26-year-old joining a laundry list of inactive players for the Jazz on Wednesday, Isaiah Collier, Svi Mykhailiuk and Cody Williams are candidates for increased roles.
Jan 11, 2025
Another 20-point outing Saturday
Sexton logged 20 points (8-17 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes during Saturday's 114-106 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was able to score at least 20 points in his fourth straight game Saturday, and he continued to handle the bulk of the ball-handling duties amid the absences of backcourt mates Keyonte George (heel) and Jordan Clarkson (foot). Over his last eight games, Sexton is averaging 21.4 points, 4.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 threes in 29.5 minutes. The 26-year-old combo guard doesn't bring much to the table defensively from a fantasy perspective, but he's shooting a career-high 42.1 percent from deep and ranks among the league's elite in free-throw percentage (89.8) in 2024-25 thus far.
Jan 10, 2025
Another 20-point display
Sexton chipped in 23 points (9-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, five assists and one steal across 29 minutes during Thursday's 97-92 loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Sexton extended his streak of games with at least 20 points to three contests, and he's reached that tally in six of his last seven appearances. During that seven-game stretch, the veteran guard is averaging 21.6 points per contest while shooting 47.9 percent from the floor.
Jan 8, 2025
Goes for 24 points in loss
Sexton amassed 24 points (7-16 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 8-9 FT), four rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes during Tuesday's 124-121 loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton did everything in his power to avoid the loss Tuesday, but Trae Young had another plan and gave the Hawks the win with one of the longest game-winning shots in NBA history. Sexton remains a productive player for Utah, though. This was the fifth time he reached the 20-point mark in his last six outings, a span in which he's averaging 21.3 points, 4.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.
Jan 6, 2025
Scores 20 points Sunday
Sexton had 20 points (6-18 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 26 minutes during Sunday's 105-92 victory over the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Sexton might be delivering inefficient numbers from a shooting perspective from time to time, but there's no question the veteran guard is going through one of his most productive stretches of the season. Sexton has scored at least 20 points in five of his last seven outings, a span in which he's also shooting 46 percent from the floor and 40.4 percent from three-point range.
Jan 1, 2025
Productive run continues
Sexton notched 25 points (10-13 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes during Wednesday's 119-103 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton scored at least 20 points for the fourth time in the past five games, stringing together his most productive stretch of the season. Despite the return of Keyonte George, Sexton has remained in the starting lineup. Although his long-term role remains up in the air, he should continue to see meaningful minutes, at least for the foreseeable future. Over the past two weeks, Sexton is averaging 22.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 3.0 three-pointers in 31.8 minutes per game.
Dec 31, 2024
Scores 22 points in loss Monday
Sexton chipped in 22 points (9-19 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes during Monday's 132-121 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton had another strong showing despite the outcome of Monday's game, and the veteran guard is ending the calendar year on a strong note. It remains to be seen if Sexton will be traded in the coming weeks, and while a move away from the Jazz would impact his fantasy upside, he's certainly playing well enough to warrant a look from some contending teams. Sexton has surpassed the 15-point mark in each of his last six appearances, averaging 22.2 points per game while shooting 49.5 percent from the floor in that span.
Dec 27, 2024
Logs first double-double of season
Sexton ended with 19 points (7-19 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and 11 assists in 27 minutes during Thursday's 122-120 loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
As the only healthy starter in the backcourt, Sexton's usage has received a moderate boost. Keyonte George and Jordan Clarkson should return soon, and while backups like Svi Mykhailiuk and Isaiah Collier are delivering adequate results, the Jazz have gone 1-2 without the Sexton-George backcourt combo.
Dec 23, 2024
Logs 30+ minutes again Monday
Sexton recorded 24 points (10-22 FG, 4-10 3Pt), three rebounds, five assists and one steal over 36 minutes during Monday's 124-113 loss to Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Sexton played at least 30 minutes for the third straight game, during which time he has managed to produce adequately on the offensive end. In that time he has averaged a healthy 24.0 points per game, adding 3.7 three-pointers and 5.7 assists. Despite some inconsistency in his role, Sexton remains one of the best scoring options on a team that leans into offensive production as a strength.
Dec 19, 2024
Reaches 30 points in balanced game
Sexton chipped in 30 points (9-15 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 7-9 FT), six rebounds, seven assists and three steals over 36 minutes during Thursday's 126-119 win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Sexton did a little bit of everything for Utah in Thursday's contest, leading all Jazz players in scoring and assists while also tallying a team-high trio of steals in a well-rounded performance. Sexton set a new season high in scoring, reaching the 30-point mark for the first time this year. Sexton has connected on five or more threes in two contests, the other being a season-high six threes Nov. 23 against New York.
Dec 17, 2024
Efficient in blowout loss Monday
Sexton produced 15 points (7-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and two assists across 24 minutes during Monday's 144-107 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Despite the blowout loss Monday, Sexton delivered a solid bounce-back outing following Friday's loss to the Suns, during which he posted only six points (2-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 24 minutes. The 25-year-old has shot an efficient 51.2 percent from the field and 41.9 percent from downtown in his last 10 outings, during which he has averaged 16.8 points, 3.4 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 0.3 steals across 28.9 minutes per contest.
Dec 4, 2024
Scores 17 in blowout loss
Sexton accumulated 17 points (7-11 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal over 28 minutes during Tuesday's 133-106 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz looked overmatched Tuesday and suffered a 27-point loss, but Sexton posted a decent stat line, leading the team in scoring and also showing an efficient touch from the floor. Even though Lauri Markkanen and Keyonte George are Utah's main offensive weapons, Sexton has done a good job as a secondary weapon. He's scored at least 15 points in all but one of his last eight appearances, a span in which he's averaging 19.1 points per game while shooting 52.3 percent from the floor.
Dec 2, 2024
Foils chance to win
Sexton recorded 15 points (7-14 FG, 1-6 3Pt), three rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal across 29 minutes during Sunday's 105-104 loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton had trouble handling the inbounds pass with seconds remaining and failed to make a potential game-winning shot. Thsi even followed a questionable timeout that stalled Utah's momentum, and it's one of Utah's many foibles that have plagued the team this season. Sexton is still posting solid numbers despite the team's struggles, and is viable as a starting point guard in deeper leagues.
Nov 28, 2024
Leads team with 26 points in loss
Sexton chipped in 26 points (9-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 6-7 FT), one rebound and four assists in 39 minutes during Wednesday's 122-103 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton posted a solid line despite the blowout, as the short-handed roster depended on solid backcourt performances due to the numerous injuries up front. Although the Jazz's record doesn't reflect the backcourt tandem's success, Sexton and Keyonte George are working well together with complementary skill sets.
Nov 20, 2024
Posts 19 points in loss
Sexton notched 19 points (6-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), one rebound, four assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Tuesday's 124-118 loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Utah's backcourt is performing well, but the Jazz are tumbling down the Western Conference rankings despite their best efforts. Sexton ha been very efficient, with double-digit scoring totals in 13 of 14 games this season. His assist numbers are down from his previous season averages, but his move to off-guard alongside Keyonte George is the likely culprit.
Nov 15, 2024
Efficient outing in win
Sexton finished with 16 points (7-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists and one steal over 31 minutes during Thursday's 115-113 win over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old got the starting nod for the sixth consecutive contest and finished as the club's third-highest scorer behind John Collins (28) and Jordan Clarkson (20). Sexton has scored in double figures in all six games during November, and he has averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals while shooting 46.4 percent from beyond the arc across 29.7 minutes per game.
Nov 8, 2024
Drops seven dimes in loss
Sexton ended with 14 points (5-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and seven assists in 27 minutes during Thursday's 123-100 loss to Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has started three straight games after a brief stint on the bench. Sexton and Jordan Clarkson will likely continue to platoon in the backcourt, and with no clear winner in terms of production, their fantasy efficacy will be somewhat diluted. For now, it appears that Clarkson will remain in his sixth-man role, where he is usually very productive.
Nov 5, 2024
Does damage from deep
Sexton closed with 24 points (7-18 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 6-6 FT), two rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in 34 minutes during Monday's 135-126 win over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was locked in from beyond the arc where he scored 12 of his 24 points. His aggressive play worked out well, leading to his best numbers of the season in terms of scoring and assists. Sexton has also contributed on the defensive end, tallying at least one steal in three straight appearances.
Nov 2, 2024
Starting Saturday
Sexton is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Denver.
ANALYSIS
Sexton came off the bench for the Jazz's last two games, but he'll return to the starting five while Jordan Clarkson is sidelined with a heel injury. Through the first five games of the regular season, Sexton is averaging 14.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists over 23.2 minutes per game.
Nov 1, 2024
Will play through finger injury
The Jazz announced Friday that Sexton sustained a left fourth finger Distal Interphalangeal joint avulsion fracture during Thursday's loss to San Antonio, but he will continue to play as tolerated.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was not included on the injury report for Saturday's game in Denver and is expected to move back into the starting lineup, as Jordan Clarkson (heel) will be sidelined. In three starts this season, Sexton has averaged 17.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 24.7 minutes per game.
Nov 1, 2024
Leads team in scoring in loss
Sexton supplied 16 points (5-11 FG, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals in 25 minutes during Thursday's 106-88 loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Sexton led the club in points in his second consecutive game off the bench during a low-scoring affair. The 25-year-old produced a bounce-back game after posting four points and shooting 0-for-7 in his first game off the bench, and he is a candidate to slot back into the starting five with Jordan Clarkson (heel) considered day-to-day.
Oct 30, 2024
Struggles off bench
Sexton recorded four points (0-7 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds and one assist over 18 minutes during Tuesday's 113-96 loss to Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was replaced by Jordan Clarkson in the starting lineup who put up 21 points (8-16 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds and three assists. This is bad news for Sexton's fantasy value, and it doesn't help that he couldn't generate anything offensively Tuesday night.
Oct 29, 2024
Moves to bench
Sexton isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Kings, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Jordan Clarkson will replace Sexton in the starting five Tuesday. Sexton should operate as Utah's primary bench option in the backcourt.
Oct 29, 2024
Leads Utah in scoring Monday
Sexton logged 23 points (9-11 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 28 minutes during Monday's 110-102 loss to the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Keyonte George has been slumping badly to start the season, but Sexton picked up the slack here and delivered an excellent performance despite the fact Utah ended up losing once again. Sexton is averaging 17.0 points per game while shooting 56.3 percent from the field to open the campaign, and even though he's bound to regress in the efficiency department sooner than later, the veteran guard has been one of the few bright spots in the Jazz's 0-3 start.
Oct 16, 2024
Effective during preseason win
Sexton compiled 16 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six assists, two steals, a rebound and a blocked shot across 24 minutes during Tuesday's 117-114 win over the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Injuries have plagued Sexton throughout his career, but after appearing in 78 games with the Jazz last season, his best basketball should still be ahead of him. If he can improve on last year's results, we could see production reminiscent of his days with the Cavaliers, where he averaged 24.3 pointe per game in 2020.
Oct 12, 2024
Scores team-high 24 points
Sexton finished with 24 points (8-16 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, eight assists, a steal and a block across 31 minutes in Saturday's 126-120 preseason loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz were depleted for this preseason contest since they were without Lauri Markkanen (rest) and Keyonte George (knee), but Sexton stepped up and finished as the leading scorer in this preseason loss. Sexton has locked down a starting role in the backcourt, and while he gets most of his fantasy upside as a scoring weapon, he could handle more playmaking duties if George is forced to miss time in the early stages of the regular season.
Oct 2, 2024
Good to go
Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake TribuneSexton (illness) will be a full participant during training camp this week, Andy Larsen reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton had four consecutive absences due to an illness to end his 2023-24 campaign. He made a total of 78 appearances in the regular season, averaging 18.7 points, 4.9 assists, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 three-pointers and 0.8 steals in 26.6 minutes. It's likely that he plays a similar role in 2024-25, though the Jazz did add Isaiah Collier with the 29th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Apr 14, 2024
Out due to illness
Sexton (illness) will not play in Sunday's regular-season finale versus Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's 2023-24 campaign comes to an end after 78 appearances, which yielded 18.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. Sexton's scoring volume climbed towards his 2020-21 standard, which was admittedly lofty at 24.3 points per game, however his facilitation this year jumps off the page as well, boasting a career best 2.33 AST/TO ratio alongside a career-high 4.9 assists per game.
Apr 13, 2024
Questionable for Sunday
Sexton (illness) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Sexton missed the past three games for Utah, but the guard remains day-to-day. Given the amount of injuries the Jazz have, Sexton could have a featured role if he gets the green light.
Apr 12, 2024
Won't play Friday
Sexton (illness) will not play Friday against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
No surprise here, as the Jazz listed Sexton as doubtful prior to this update. This will be the third game in a row on the shelf for Sexton, and he should be considered questionable for the season finale Sunday against the Warriors.
Apr 12, 2024
Considered doubtful for Friday
Sexton (illness) is doubtful for Friday's game against the Clippers, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has missed the last two games due to his illness, and although it's somewhat encouraging to see him listed as doubtful rather than being immediately ruled out, it seems likely that he'll be sidelined once again Friday. Assuming he sits against the Clippers, his final chance to suit up during the regular season will be Sunday against the Warriors.
Apr 10, 2024
Out again Thursday
Sexton (illness) won't play in Thursday's game against the Rockets, Sarah Todd of The Deseret News reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will miss a second consecutive game due to illness, which should allow for Johnny Juzang to remain in the starting lineup while Talen Horton-Tucker and Jason Preston are candidates to see more work off the bench. Sexton's next chance to play will come Friday against the Clippers for Utah's penultimate game.
Apr 9, 2024
Ruled out for Tuesday
Sexton (illness) will not play Tuesday against the Nuggets, Ben Anderson of KSL News Salt Lake City reports.
ANALYSIS
The writing was on the wall once Sexton was downgraded to questionable earlier in the day. With the Jazz out of playoff contention, it's not a surprise to see them err on the side of caution. With Sexton out, guys like Talen Horton-Tucker, Jason Preston and Kira Lewis could have more opportunities.
Apr 9, 2024
Downgraded to questionable
Sexton has been downgraded to questionable ahead of Tuesday's game against the Nuggets due to an illness, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is riding a productive stretch, averaging 20.4 points per game while shooting 44.5 percent from the field over his last eight starts, but it wouldn't be shocking if he ends up being ruled out since the Jazz are already out of playoff contention. It sounds as it Sexton will be a true game-time call before Tuesday's 9 p.m. ET tipoff.
Apr 8, 2024
Posts 15 points in loss
Sexton notched 15 points (5-15 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), two rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal across 27 minutes during Sunday's 118-110 loss to Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Sexton shot only 33 percent from the floor but managed to pad his fantasy total with seven assists. Sexton won't become an unrestricted free agent until 2026, but he represents over 12 percent of Utah's league cap, making him a very expensive addition to the 2024-25 roster.
Mar 30, 2024
Scores 29 in loss to Houston
Sexton finished with 29 points (10-21 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 9-10 FT), six rebounds, five assists and two blocks across 44 minutes during Friday's 101-100 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
There's been a lot of talk regarding Jalen Green's hot stretch in recent weeks, and while Sexton's hasn't been on the same level, he deserves some praise for the consistency and productivity he's shown in recent weeks. Sexton has scored at least 20 points in 10 consecutive appearances (six starts) and is averaging 22.7 points, 6.3 assists and 3.4 boards per game in that span.

Sexton logged 20 points (9-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and five assists across 34 minutes during Thursday's 113-97 loss to the Mavericks.

Sexton finished with his sixth straight contest of 20-plus points, and he's hit that mark in 11 of 16 contests since the All-Star break. He has been picking up his assist numbers as well, averaging 5.8 dimes per game since the break as opposed to 4.5 prior to the All-Star Game.

Sexton accumulated 25 points (12-19 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 30 minutes during Wednesday's 119-107 loss to Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Playing his third straight game as part of the second unit, Sexton led the Jazz in scoring while producing 20-plus for the seventh time in the last eight contests. He didn't get much help though, as only two other Utah players even scored in double digits. Over that eight-game stretch, Sexton is averaging 22.8 points, 6.0 assists, 3.4 boards, 2.5 threes and 1.0 steals while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent (20-for-44) from beyond the arc, and the shift to the bench hasn't impacted his usage or efficiency. Once Jordan Clarkson (groin) gets healthy though, Sexton could move back into the starting five.

Sexton has handed out 10 or more assists in four games this season, his first while coming off the bench. In those four contests, he has added 20 or more points on three occasions.
Mar 16, 2024

ANALYSIS
The shorthanded Jazz got little production from anyone except Sexton, Jordan Clarkson and John Collins -- no other member of the team scored more than 10 points -- but it was enough. Sexton has scored in double digits in 14 straight games, a stretch in which the 25-year-old guard is averaging 20.9 points, 5.6 assists, 2.1 boards, 2.1 threes and 1.1 steals while shooting 50.3 percent from the floor and 47.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Sexton is averaging 20.5 points, 5.7 assists, 2.1 boards, 2.1 threes and 1.1 steals over that stretch while shooting 46.0 percent from long distance, and while the Jazz have committed to a youth movement coming out of the All-Star break with both Keyonte George and Taylor Hendricks in the starting five, Sexton's usage appears to be secure.
Feb 26, 2024
Double-doubles in win
Sexton accumulated 16 points (4-9 FG, 8-8 FT), two rebounds, 10 assists and four steals over 27 minutes during Sunday's 128-109 win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS

The 24-year-old guard also led Utah in assists during Thursday's narrow loss to Golden State. Sexton has been scorching the nets from deep as of late, converting 42.9 percent of his 4.9 three-point attempts per contest across his last 10 appearances.

Feb 13, 2024
Scores 22 points in loss
Sexton ended Monday's 129-107 loss to Golden State with 22 points (9-15 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), six rebounds and five assists in 26 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was efficient from the field and also delivered decent numbers in the rebounding and passing categories, rounding out another solid display for the veteran. ANALYSIS
Sexton posted his highest assist total over his past six games and finished third on Utah in scoring in defeat. The sixth-year guard is on pace for a career-best mark with 4.5 dimes per contest this season, giving a boost to what had previously been a mostly one-dimensional fantasy profile. Sexton has also improved his scoring average from 14.3 points last season to 17.5 points during the current campaign.

Since moving into the starting lineup in mid-December, Sexton has delivered 20 or more points in 20 of 27 games, averaging 21.6 points, 5.5 assists, 2.5 boards, 1.9 threes and 0.9 steals while shooting 50.6 percent from the floor and 42.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Jan 31, 2024
Scores 22 with seven dimes
Sexton ended with 22 points (7-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-8 FT), three rebounds and seven assists over 28 minutes during Tuesday's 118-103 loss to New York.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz lost for the fifth time in their last seven games, but Sexton has continued to play well despite the team's struggles. He's reached the 22-point mark in five of those seven appearances while also putting up solid numbers as a playmaker since he's now gone 10 straight outings with five or more assists. During that 10-game stretch, Sexton is averaging 22.1 points, 6.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds per contest.
Jan 24, 2024

He's now scored at least 20 points in seven consecutive outings, averaging 25.7 points, 5.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 27.3 minutes per game.
Jan 19, 2024
Hits season-best 31-point mark
Sexton amassed 31 points (10-19 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 7-10 FT), one rebound, seven assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Thursday's 134-129 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz came up short in the second half and couldn't complete a comeback against the Thunder, but Sexton notched an impressive stat line while ending three dimes away from a triple-double. The 31-point outing was also his best scoring mark of the season, and his second straight game reaching the 30-point plateau.
Jan 17, 2024
Game postponed Wednesday
The NBA postponed Wednesday's game between the Warriors and Jazz due to a serious medical situation within Golden State's organization, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic needed to be hospitalized Tuesday night after a health episode occurred during a team dinner. It's unclear when the game will be made up, but Utah's next scheduled game is Thursday versus the Thunder.
Jan 16, 2024
Scores season-high 30 points Monday
Sexton racked up 30 points (11-17 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and five assists across 24 minutes during Monday's 132-105 win over the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz dominated the Pacers on Monday, and Sexton not only played a prominent role in the win but also delivered one of his most efficient performances of the campaign. He tied a season-high mark in field goals made, and he also reached the 30-point mark for the first time in 2023-24. Sexton has been on a tear of late, averaging 20.7 points per game and shooting 54.8 percent from the field since the beginning of January.
Jan 14, 2024
Pours in 27 points
Sexton chipped in 27 points (8-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 10-10 FT), four rebounds and five assists in 28 minutes during Saturday's 132-125 victory over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
The hits keep coming for Sexton, who has been a critical piece of Utah's recent success. He's currenty enjoying an excellent January, averaging 19.5 points, 5.1 assists and 2.1 rebounds through the first eight games of the year.
Jan 13, 2024
Efficient total in win
Sexton amassed 20 points (5-10 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 7-8 FT), two rebounds, five assists and two steals over 20 minutes during Friday's 145-113 win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was dialed in during the blowout, and his total would have been much higher were it not for the lopsided total, which compelled the Jazz to empty the bench. Former starter Keyonte George scored nine points in garbage time and could be a candidate to run alongside Sexton if Kris Dunn continues to struggle. In any case, Sexton's resurgent play has all but cemented his starting gig in the backcourt.
Jan 11, 2024
Posts 22 points in victory
Sexton amassed 22 points (8-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal over 21 minutes during Wednesday's 124-111 victory over the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Although Sexton's assist totals have fluctuated since assuming a starting role, the five-year vet continues to put up solid numbers. He's started off January on the right foot, averaging 18.2 points, 5.2 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals over the first six games of 2024.
Jan 9, 2024
Scores 19 points Monday
Sexton recorded 19 points (8-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt), three assists and one steal over 18 minutes during Monday's 132-116 victory over the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has been extremely good since moving to a starting role in mid-December, scoring over 15 points in all but two of his last 15 contests and shooting at a high clip since he's making 50.7 percent of his shots from the floor. The Jazz will keep Sexton in the starting lineup going forward regardless of whether he's deployed as a point guard or shooting guard.
Jan 7, 2024
Posts double-double in win
Sexton tallied 22 points (9-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds and 10 assists over 27 minutes during Saturday's 120-109 win over the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton registered his first double-double of the season, and his 10 assists were his most in a game since since Nov. 23 against the Pistons when he dished out 12 dimes. Sexton has been more productive on offense since entering the starting lineup for Jordan Clarkson on Dec. 13. In that span of 14 games, Sexton is averaging 21.4 points on 49.8 percent shooting, 2.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists over 28.7 minutes per game.
Dec 31, 2023
Paces team in scoring Saturday
Sexton provided 22 points (8-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), two rebounds, five assists and one steal over 26 minutes during Saturday's 117-109 victory over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Sexton led the Jazz in scoring and was the team's only starter with more than 12 points in the win. Most of his production came in the first half, when he put up 16 points on 8-of-14 shooting. This was Sexton's third straight game with at least 20 points, and he finished December with per-game averages of 21.1 points, 4.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 1.5 three-pointers and 0.9 steals over 14 contests.
Dec 29, 2023
Continues to produce as starter
Sexton registered 26 points (8-17 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 7-9 FT), five rebounds and three assists across 30 minutes during Thursday's 112-105 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has embraced his opportunity in the starting lineup and is doing an excellent job, scoring at least 20 points in seven of his nine starts and being efficient on both ends of the court. Through this nine-game span, Sexton is averaging 23.2 points, 4.4 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range.
Dec 27, 2023
Excellent against San Antonio
Sexton chipped in 20 points (8-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal in 29 minutes during Tuesday's 130-118 victory over San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Sexton only missed two shots throughout the game -- both from beyond the arc, which isn't one of his strongest areas -- and delivered a strong all-around effort as the Jazz cruised to victory over the Spurs on the road. Sexton has been spectacular as a starter for the Jazz, reaching the 20-point plateau in six of eight games while also averaging 4.6 assists per outing in that span.
Dec 21, 2023
Hits for 20 against Cavs
Sexton registered 20 points (7-17 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one block across 34 minutes during Wednesday's 124-116 loss to the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
With Jordan Clarkson (thigh) and Keyonte George (foot) both in street clothes, Sexton made his fifth straight start and scored 20 or more points for the sixth straight contest. The former Cavalier is averaging 24.7 points, 3.7 assists, 3.2 boards and 2.3 threes over that stretch while shooting 51.0 percent from the floor, and Sexton should remain a strong fantasy option at least until Clarkson is ready to rejoin the lineup.
Dec 19, 2023
Posts 27 points in victory
Sexton contributed 27 points (6-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 12-13 FT), three rebounds and six assists across 35 minutes during Monday's 125-108 win over the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton tied with Talen Horton-Tucker for the team lead in scoring, with both guards putting up an identical 27/6/3 line. Horton-Tucker was by far the more efficient shooter, however, making 11 of 19 shots as opposed to Sexton's 6-for-17 mark. Still, the latter was able to make up for his shooting woes by getting to the line often and converting all but one of his 13 free-throw tries. Sexton has had an up-and-down campaign, but he's been hot over his past five games, scoring at least 20 points in each contest over that span, including at least 26 in each of his past four outings.
Dec 17, 2023
Solid with 28 points
Sexton ended with 28 points (10-18 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 33 minutes during Saturday's 125-104 loss to Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Sexton continued to prove his worth as an offensive linchpin with Jordan Clarkson (thigh) and Keyonte George (foot) sidelined. Despite Saturday's loss, the Jazz look like a more complete team with Sexton in the backcourt, and his excellent play should earn him more time when the backcourt is back to full health.
Dec 15, 2023
Leads team to win Thursday
Sexton ended Thursday's 122-114 win over Portland with 27 points (11-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one steal in 32 minutes.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz were missing a number of key players including Lauri Markkanen (hamstring) and Jordan Clarkson (thigh), but Sexton stepped up and led the team in scoring while producing a season high in points. The 24-year-old guard has dropped at least 20 points in three straight contests, and since the calendar flipped to December, Sexton's averaging 19.7 points, 4.3 assists, 3.3 boards, 1.2 threes and 0.8 steals a game while shooting an impressive 54.5 percent from the floor.
Dec 14, 2023
Clutch in starting tole
Sexton chipped in 26 points (10-18 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds and seven assists over 30 minutes during Wednesday's 117-113 victory over New York.
ANALYSIS
Sexton started for Jordan Clarkson (hamstring), but the game script changed drastically when Keyonte George (foot) went down with an injury. George's injury appears to be serious enough that he won't travel with the team for two upcoming road games, so the veteran guard will become a valuable streaming option for at least a week. Although players like Talen Horton-Tucker will benefit from the absence, Sexton is uniquely positioned to have the biggest impact.
Dec 13, 2023
Starting sans Clarkson
Sexton is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will replace Jordan Clarkson (hamstring) in the starting five Wednesday. Sexton will make his first start of the season and could remain in that role with Clarkson out for at least two weeks.
Dec 12, 2023
Impresses off bench Monday
Sexton recorded 20 points (7-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, two assists and two steals over 26 minutes during Monday's 134-120 loss to Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Despite coming off the bench, Sexton had an impressive outing, and he ended as one of Utah's leading scorers in this 14-point loss. Sexton has scored in double digits in four of his last five outings, and while the bench role limits his upside, he remains a viable fantasy alternative in most slates due to his scoring prowess alone.
Dec 3, 2023
Logs team-high 25 points from bench
Sexton totaled 25 points (9-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 7-7 FT), four rebounds and five assists over 30 minutes during Saturday's 118-113 overtime win over Portland.
ANALYSIS
Sexton fared much better then Ochai Agbaji during Jordan Clarkson's (thigh) absence, an encouraging sign for the veteran guard. Sexton hasn't played with the first unit since going down with a hamstring injury last season, and Keyonte George's solid play has kept him to the second unit for the duration of the 2023-24 campaign. While he still has value in deeper leagues, Sexton's reserve role caps his potential production.
Dec 1, 2023
Efficient performance in loss
Sexton provided 14 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four assists and three rebounds through 23 minutes in a 101-90 loss to the Timberwolves on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Over his last four games, Sexton is averaging 12.5 points, 3.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 22.8 minutes. While the backup point guard aims to improve his efficiency and consistency, Thursday was a step in the right direction. Regardless of his production, Sexton's overall workload appears to remain the same, and he will continue to lead the second unit for the foreseeable future.
Nov 23, 2023
Posts season-low scoring total
Sexton produced one point (0-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one steal over 11 minutes during Wednesday's 121-105 loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was unable to convert any of his field-goal attempts during Wednesday's matchup, and he couldn't generate enough production in secondary categories to salvage his fantasy production. Despite Wednesday's lackluster stat line, he's scored in double figures in 11 of 15 appearances this year and has averaged 11.7 points, 3.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per game.
Nov 20, 2023
Notches 18 points
Sexton logged 18 points (6-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 23 minutes during Sunday's 140-137 double-overtime loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has settled into a decently sized role with the second unit, though his production has been sporadic. Over the past five games, Sexton is seeing 20.8 minutes per night with averages of 11.8 points, 4.2 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 1.0 three-pointers on 40.8 percent shooting from the field.
Nov 11, 2023
Scores 10 off bench
Sexton contributed 10 points (3-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, six assists and one steal in 18 minutes during Friday's 127-121 win over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has now reached double-digit point totals in 8-of-10 games this year. His six assists also tied a season-high. The veteran reserve guard is averaging 12.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 0.9 triples across a career-low 18.8 minutes on the young season.
Nov 2, 2023
Thrives as off-guard
Sexton ended with 23 points (8-10 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds and six assists across 22 minutes during Wednesday's 133-109 win over Memphis.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz may have found the winning combination by taking Sexton out of his usual role as a second-unit floor general. Sexton is used to bringing the ball down the court, but he looked superb by leaving the point guard duties to Jordan Clarkson. The blowout of Memphis was quite decisive, and it would not surprise me to see Clarkson and Sexton aligned together in a starting lineup soon.
Oct 28, 2023
Available to play Saturday
Sexton (wrist) is available to play Saturday against the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has had some ups-and-downs in his first two outings of the season, averaging 11.0 points and 2.0 rebounds across 19.5 minutes of play. He is expected to continue coming off the bench, though the nature of that role limits his upside a bit.
Oct 28, 2023
Expected to play Saturday
Sexton is probable for Saturday's game versus the Suns due to a right wrist sprain, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has averaged 11.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 19.5 minutes across his first two appearances this season. Sexton will likely continue to come off the bench if he's upgraded to available.
Oct 25, 2023
Headed to bench
Sexton isn't in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener against the Kings, Sarah Todd of The Deseret News reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will be replaced by Jordan Clarkson in the starting lineup Wednesday. Sexton is expected to be Utah's primary backup point guard this season.
Oct 20, 2023
Goes for 24 points
Sexton contributed 24 points (11-16 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 0-1 FT), five rebounds and five assists across 25 minutes in Thursday's 116-113 preseason loss to the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Sexton got the start in the preseason finale since the Jazz rested several expected starters, and he made the most of the opportunity, leading the team in scoring and looking extremely efficient from the field. Sexton is likely to open the season as the main backup guard due to his ability to play both positions, but he should have decent fantasy upside in that role if he's able to log around 25 minutes per game on a consistent basis.
Oct 19, 2023
Starting against Sacramento
Sexton is in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason matchup against the Kings, David Locke of the Jazz's official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton gets the nod in the backcourt alongside Talen Horton-Tucker in a game where Utah decided to rest Jordan Clarkson, Lauri Markkanen and other projected starters. Sexton hasn't been at his best in the preseason, however, and he has averaged just 8.0 points per game across four outings.

Strong effort off bench
Sexton notched 16 points (3-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 8-8 FT), a rebound, six assists, a steal and a block across 19 minutes off the bench in Saturday's 138-133 preseason win over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is battling with Jordan Clarkson for a starting role in the backcourt, and while he came off the bench in this one, he certainly left a good impression here. He delivered single-digit scoring numbers in his first two outings, but this was Sexton's best preseason game so far. He will try to build off this performance when Utah takes on the New Zealand Breakers on Monday at Delta Center.
Oct 14, 2023
Heads to bench
Sexton is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Trail Blazers, Ben Anderson of KSL News Salt Lake City reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton got the start Tuesday against the Clippers, but he'll head to the bench here with Jordan Clarkson moving into the starting unit. Sexton delivered three points (1-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), a rebound and five assists across 18 minutes against the Clippers.
Oct 9, 2023
Poor shooting display Sunday
Sexton delivered three points (1-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), a rebound and five assists across 18 minutes in Sunday's 101-96 preseason win over the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton struggled from the field massively Sunday, but the shooting woes shouldn't be much of an issue given this was Sexton's first taste of action since April. Sexton averaged 14.3 points, 2.9 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game across 48 appearances (15 starts) in 2022-23, and he's in the mix to operate as Utah's starting point guard to start the campaign.
Apr 9, 2023
Not featuring Sunday
Sexton (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton missed the final three games of the season due to a nagging hamstring injury, but that was probably the best decision since Utah has nothing to play for Sunday. Sexton ends his first season with the Jazz averaging 14.3 points, 2.9 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game across 48 appearances (15 starts).
Apr 7, 2023
Remains out
Sexton (hamstring) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Nuggets, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will miss a second straight game after returning to action April 4 following a month-long injury absence. The point guard's status for Utah's regular-season finale against the Lakers on Sunday remains to be determined.
Apr 5, 2023
Out Thursday
Sexton (rest) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Sexton logged 15 minutes off the bench in his return to action Tuesday, but he'll return to the sidelines for Thursday's game for "injury maintenance." Utah's final two regular season games come as a Saturday-Sunday, back-to-back set, so Sexton will likely only be available for one of those.
Apr 5, 2023
Scores 15 points in return
Sexton had 15 points (7-14 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound and three assists across 16 minutes during Tuesday's 135-133 overtime loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton returned from a 18-game absence Tuesday and was limited off the bench, but that didn't stop the Alabama product from making an impact. The fifth-year guard failed to connect from deep but still scored 15 points thanks to efficient shooting from inside the arc and finished fourth on the team in scoring.
Apr 4, 2023
Will play 16-20 minutes
Sexton (hamstring) will play 16-20 minutes in Tuesday's game against the Lakers, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton hasn't played since Feb. 15, so his strict limitations come with little surprise. Though his workload will be limited, Sexton has shown the ability to put up double-digit points in less than 20 minutes multiple times this season.
Apr 4, 2023
Will play Tuesday
Sexton (hamstring) is available for Tuesday's game against the Lakers, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will be available for the first time since Feb. 15, but Utah figures to be cautious with the point guard during his return from a hamstring injury. Before he suffered the injury, Sexton had scored in double figures in 14 straight appearances (four starts) and averaged 15.6 points, 3.0 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 25.4 minutes during that stretch.
Apr 3, 2023
Questionable Tuesday
Sexton (hamstring) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has missed the last 18 matchups due to a left hamstring strain but will be listed as questionable once again prior to Tuesday's matchup. If he remains out, Kris Dunn and Talen Horton-Tucker should continue to see increased run.
Apr 1, 2023
Remains sidelined Sunday
Sexton (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game versus the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will miss his 18th straight game Sunday due to a left hamstring strain. His next chance to suit up is Tuesday's matchup with the Lakers.
Mar 30, 2023
Still out Friday
Sexton (hamstring) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Sexton hasn't suited up since before the All-Star break but remains listed day-to-day for now. However, it seems increasingly unlikely that he'll return before the end of the regular season.
Mar 28, 2023
Out Wednesday
Sexton (hamstring) remains out Wednesday against the Spurs, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton hasn't played since before the All-Star break. It seems unlikely he'll return this season, but the Jazz continue to list him as day-to-day.
Mar 26, 2023
Still sidelined Monday
Sexton (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's game against Phoenix, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has been week-to-week recently due to his hamstring injury that he sustained shortly before the All-Star break, and he'll miss yet another game Monday. His next opportunity to suit up will be Wednesday against the Spurs.
Mar 25, 2023
Out again
Sexton (hamstring) will remain sidelined for Saturday's game at Sacramento, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton injured his hamstring in the final game before All-Star break and has been considered week-to-week since. Utah is erring on the side of caution here and has not revealed how close the combo-guard is to returning. His next chance will come Monday against the Suns.
Mar 16, 2023
Out yet another week
Sexton (hamstring) will be out for at least another week, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Jazz have been updating Sexton's status on a week-to-week basis after he suffered a left hamstring injury during the final game before the All-Star break. While the guard remains sidelined, Kris Dunn and Ochai Agbaji should continue seeing expanded roles.
Mar 6, 2023
Will be re-evaluated in one week
Collin Sexton (left hamstring) will spend another week on the sidelines before he's re-evaluated, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Hamstring injuries can be tricky, and with Utah in a rebuilding year, Sexton will likely take his time getting back to the floor. At this juncture in the fantasy season, managers who don't have an available injury reserve slot may need to consider cutting Sexton. Kris Dunn has been playing very well in Sexton's absence, so he's worth a look in most leagues.
Feb 27, 2023
Out at least another week
Sexton (hamstring) has been ruled out for Tuesday's matchup against the Spurs and is set for another evaluation in a week, Ben Anderson of KSL News Salt Lake City reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has already missed back-to-back games following the All-Star break due to a left hamstring injury and is slated to miss at least four more contests. Jordan Clarkson (thumb) is also out for Tuesday's matchup, so Kris Dunn, Frank Jackson, Talen Horton-Tucker and Ochai Agbaji are all candidates for increased roles versus San Antonio.
Feb 22, 2023
Expected to miss two games
Sexton (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday and he will be re-evaluated Monday.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has already been ruled out for Thursday's game, and since he won't be re-evaluated until Monday, it's probably safe to say that he'll be skipping Saturday's game as well. His absence could result in Talen Horton-Tucker drawing the start, and more opportunity for Ochai Agbaji while Jordan Clarkson runs the show on offense.
Feb 15, 2023
Early exit Wednesday
Sexton will not return to Wednesday's game against Memphis due to a left hamstring injury, Sarah Todd of The Deseret News reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton suffered the injury after four minutes of action, where he was held scoreless (0-2 FG, 0-1 3PT), with one assist. Talen Horton-Tucker and Simone Fontecchio figure to see expanded roles for the remainder of the game. Sexton will have a little more than one week to rest up before Utah's next game against the Thunder on Feb. 23.
Feb 11, 2023
Scores 22 in 37 minutes
Sexton chipped in 22 points (8-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 6-7 FT), five rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals over 37 minutes during Friday's 122-116 victory over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
With Mike Conley no longer around, Sexton is the starting point guard by default in Utah for possibly the remainder of the season. He can put up points in a hurry with good efficiency, but fantasy managers would like to see a bit more production across the board. Coming into Friday, Sexton was averaging just 2.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 1.1 three-pointers.
Feb 9, 2023
Posts 20 points in first half
Sexton totaled 22 points (6-10 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 6-8 FT), five rebounds and five assists over 31 minutes during Wednesday's 143-118 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Sexton scored 20 points in the first half on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, including 4-of-4 from three-point range. However, the point guard failed to knock down either of his two field goal attempts in the second half, finishing with just two points over the final two quarters as the Jazz suffered their third consecutive loss at home. Sexton's 22 points on the evening matched his season high and it was his first time breaking the 20-point barrier since Nov. 30 against the Clippers. His four threes in the contest also marked a season high.
Feb 8, 2023
Gets starting nod
Sexton is in the starting five for Wednesday's game versus the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will likely remain Utah's starting point guard with Mike Conley being traded to the Timberwolves. The 23-year-old guard is averaging 17.1 points, 4.9 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 30.2 minutes across his previous 10 starts this season.
Feb 7, 2023
Rough night Monday
Sexton accumulated 10 points (2-3 FG, 6-6 FT) and one assist over 25 minutes during Monday's 124-111 loss to the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was not able to have an impact Monday, scoring fewer than 15 points for the sixth time in his past eight games. As a player who relies solely on scoring to buoy his fantasy value, Sexton is certainly not doing a good job at convincing anyone he should be rostered. He is barely inside the top 200 in nine-category formats over the past two weeks, leaving him on the fringe of deeper league discussions.
Jan 21, 2023
Productive off bench Friday
Sexton racked up 17 points (7-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-4 FT), one assist and one steal over 29 minutes during Friday's 117-106 loss to Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
After missing five of the first six games in January due to hamstring issues, Sexton appears to be fully healthy again. He's scored in double digits in all four games he's played this month, averaging 16.3 points, 2.3 assists, 2.0 boards and 1.0 threes in 25.3 minutes off the bench as Utah's primary source of second-unit scoring. With trade rumors swirling around Mike Conley though, it's possible Sexton will see his minutes and role increase if he moves into the starting five.
Jan 16, 2023
Efficient shooting in return
Sexton totaled 19 points (7-10 FG, 5-5 FT), four rebounds and four assists in 26 minutes during Monday's 126-125 win over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Sexton played solid off the bench after sitting the previous game for injury management. He led all bench players with 19 points on an efficient 70 percent shooting. While not known for his secondary stats, he did add four boards and four assists in his 26 minutes. The young guard has been a decent scorer in a reserve role for much of the season and has shown no rust offensively in the two games since returning from a hamstring injury.
Jan 15, 2023
Not on injury report
Sexton (hamstring) isn't on the injury report for Monday's game against Minnesota, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton sat out the second half of a back-to-back set Saturday against the 76ers due to right hamstring injury maintenance, but he'll return to action against the Timberwolves. During his return from a five-game absence Friday against Orlando, he logged 18 points, three rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes.
Jan 14, 2023
Will sit Saturday
Sexton will not play in Saturday's game versus the 76ers due to right hamstring injury maintenance. Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton returned from a five-game absence to log 24 minutes in Friday's tilt versus the Magic, but he will get the night off Saturday in the second game of the back-to-back set. His absence should slot Nickeil Alexander-Walker in as the team's backup option again at point guard, though Sexton seems likely to rejoin the action Monday against the Timberwolves.
Jan 14, 2023
Drops 18 points in 24 minutes
Sexton logged 18 points (7-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), three rebounds and three assists across 24 minutes during Friday's 112-108 win over Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Sexton scored an efficient 18 points in his return Friday, back in the rotation after missing five straight games with a hamstring injury. In typical style, he added very little outside of the scoring, something that drags down his overall appeal. While he does provide the team with a nice offensive punch off the bench, his limitations usually rule him out when it comes to being a must-roster player.
Jan 13, 2023
On minutes restriction
Sexton (hamstring) will be active but limited for Friday's affair with the Magic, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will make his first appearance in 2023 after missing five contests with a hamstring injury but will be under a minutes restriction. Considering his exact limitations are unknown and the Jazz are fully healthy, fantasy managers should look elsewhere for Friday's slate.
Jan 12, 2023
Good to go Friday
Sexton (hamstring) said Thursday that he will play in Friday's game versus the Magic, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will rejoin the lineup Friday after missing the previous five games with a right hamstring injury. His return will likely result in less playing time for Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Ochai Agbaji. However, fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised to see Sexton sit out Saturday's back-to-back or receive limited minutes.
Jan 11, 2023
Set for full practice
Sexton (hamstring) is expected to fully participate in Thursday's practice, Ben Anderson of KSLSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has missed the Jazz's last five games while receiving maintenance for a right hamstring injury, but his impending return to a full practice suggests his streak of absences could soon come to an end. If Sexton checks out fine during Thursday's session, Tony Jones of The Athletic relays that the fifth-year guard could return to action Friday in Orlando, which marks the front end of a back-to-back set. Whenever Sexton is cleared to play, he'll likely recapture a role on the Jazz's second unit and bump one or two of Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Ochai Agbaji and Talen Horton-Tucker (ankle) out of the rotation.
Jan 9, 2023
Still out
Sexton (hamstring) has been ruled out for Tuesday's matchup against the Cavaliers, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will miss a fifth straight game due to a right hamstring injury. The initial report said he'd be sidelined for at least a week, so the team should be releasing an update on the point guard's rehab process in the coming days. Talen Horton-Tucker (ankle) is also out, so expect Malik Beasley, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Ochai Agbaji to continue garnering increased roles behind Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson until Sexton is able to return.
Jan 2, 2023
Out at least a week
Sexton will be sidelined for at least a week due to a hamstring injury, Sarah Todd of The Deseret News reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was unable to practice Monday due to a hamstring issue, and he'll be unavailable for Utah's next four games before being re-evaluated. While he hasn't experienced a setback after missing seven games with a hamstring injury in December, he'll go through rest, treatment and strengthening over the next week.
Dec 23, 2022
Energized performance in return
Sexton ended with 18 points (6-7 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT) and one rebound over 17 minutes during Thursday's 120-112 win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Sexton played his first game in over two weeks Thursday, scoring an efficient 18 points in just 17 minutes. While he had been logging significant minutes prior to his injury, managers need to look back further than that before running to grab him in standard formats. Based on what we saw to open the season, his role moving forward is likely to be that of a sparkplug scorer off the bench, typically seeing around 20-24 minutes per night. While he can be streamed in for anyone in need of points, his lack of overall production does limit his appeal as a long-term addition.
Dec 22, 2022
Active Friday
Sexton (hamstring) will play in Friday's game against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's streak of seven consecutive absences will come to an end Friday, as the 23-year-old will be available for the game. Although he has been a strong fantasy contributor this season, he will likely move back to the second unit with the Utah backcourt fully healthy. In 17 appearances off the bench, Sexton has averaged 12.7 points in 21.1 minutes per game.
Dec 22, 2022
Full-go in practice Thursday
Sexton (hamstring) was a full participant in Thursday's shootaround, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is still questionable to play in Thursday's matchup with the Wizards with a right hamstring strain. The former Cavalier's practice participation is a good sign of his availability, especially considering he was already upgraded from out to questionable.
Dec 21, 2022
Gets upgrade to questionable
Sexton (hamstring) is considered questionable for Thursday's game versus the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Given that Sexton was listed out on the initial injury report since suffering the hamstring strain, an inclusion as questionable likely signals a return is near. The team should provide additional info on his status at some point on game day, but Sexton should slide into a sizeable role again if given the green light without restrictions.
Dec 20, 2022
Sidelined again Tuesday
Sexton (hamstring) will miss Tuesday's game versus the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Sexton hasn't appeared in a game since Dec. 7, and that trend will continue Tuesday, marking his seventh consecutive absence. Sexton's next opportunity to rejoin the action arrives Thursday versus the Wizards. Nickeil Alexander-Walker should continue to handle a larger role in his absence.
Dec 18, 2022
Remains out Monday
Sexton (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Cavaliers, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton won't be able to face his former team since he's yet to recover from a nagging hamstring problem suffered earlier this month. He is in line to miss his sixth game in a row, and that should translate into an increased role for Nickeil Alexander-Walker. His next chance to feature will come Tuesday at the Pistons.
Dec 16, 2022
Out Saturday
Sexton (hamstring) is out Saturday at Milwaukee, Sarah Todd of The Deseret News reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is now considered day-to-day but needs more time to recover from a strained right hamstring. His next chance to play arrives Monday against the Cavaliers, and while he's out, Nickeil Alexander-Walker should continue seeing an increased role.
Dec 15, 2022
Considered day-to-day
Sexton (hamstring) was re-evaluated and can be tabbed as day-to-day going forward, Andy Larsen reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton suffered a mild right hamstring strain on Dec. 7 and has remained out since. However, a return seems to be near considering he has not suffered any setbacks. Upon his return, he will likely return to a bench role with Mike Conley healthy. In 17 appearances off the bench, Sexton has averaged 12.7 points per game across 21.1 minutes.
Dec 8, 2022
Out at least one week
Sexton will be re-evaluated in one week after an MRI Thursday revealed a mild hamstring strain in his right leg, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton injured his hamstring in Wednesday's game against the Warriors. With Mike Conley (lower leg) likely to return Friday, Sexton will be expected to move back to the bench once he's able to play. The ex-Cavaliers guard averaged 16.9 points, 5.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 30.0 minutes across the nine games he started.
Dec 7, 2022
Won't return Wednesday
Sexton won't return to Wednesday's game against Golden State due to a hamstring injury, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton logged his ninth straight start and posted 17 points (4-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 8-10 FT) and three assists in 27 minutes before exiting with an apparent hamstring injury. The guard will likely be tabbed questionable heading into the Jazz's next matchup Friday against Minnesota.
Nov 27, 2022
Steps up scoring Saturday
Sexton recorded 20 points (7-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-8 FT), two rebounds, five assists and two steals over 30 minutes during Saturday's 113-112 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Sexton trailed Jordan Clarkson by just two points for team high-scoring honors, reaching the 20-point mark for just the third time this season. He's averaging under 10 field-goal attempts over 23.1 minutes per game on the campaign, so big scoring efforts typically require efficient shooting performances like his 7-for-11 mark Saturday. Sexton has started four straight games in Mike Conley's (leg) absence, and he's averaged 15.0 points and 6.3 assists over that span.
Nov 24, 2022
Dishes 12 dimes in loss
Sexton recorded 17 points (7-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and 12 assists across 35 minutes during Wednesday's 125-116 loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Sexton didn't grab a rebound or record any defensive stats Friday, but he did two things very well: shoot and distribute the ball. The fifth-year guard was an efficient 7-for-12 from the field for 17 points and racked up 12 assists to just two turnovers. The assist total was a career high and helped Sexton finish with his first double-double of the campaign.
Nov 21, 2022
Making second start of season
Sexton will start Monday's game against the Clippers, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is set to draw the start at point guard with Mike Conley (lower leg) out of commission. His last start dates back to Oct. 29 against Memphis when he finished with 19 points, two rebounds, four assists and one block in 32 minutes.
Nov 16, 2022
Minuscule production in loss
Sexton totaled three points (1-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound and four assists over 17 minutes during Tuesday's 118-111 loss to New York.
ANALYSIS
Although Sexton usually executes well with the team's second unit, he was little more than an afterthought in Tuesday's loss, tying for his worst scoring total of the season. Sexton has faded into the woodwork occasionally while Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson handle the bulk of the frontcourt work.
Nov 7, 2022
Excellent sta tline from bench
Sexton closed with 22 points (6-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 8-9 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 27 minutes during Sunday's 110-102 win over the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
For now, everything appears harmonious with Sexton coming off the bench, but it's hard to imagine Sexton retaining this role for the entire season. Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson have been entrenched in the starting lineup through the first few weeks of the season, but one wonders if that us sustainable with a talent like Sexton waiting in the wings. If Sexton is available on the waiver wire, he's worth a spot on your bench and an occasional start due to his volume with the second unit.
Nov 3, 2022
Records 19 points off bench
Sexton accumulated 19 points (7-16 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 103-100 loss to Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has played off the bench in all but one game this season, and even though this is a role he's not used to, as he was a regular starter during his four-year tenure with the Cavaliers, he's finding ways to perform. The former Alabama standout has scored at least 15 points in three straight outings and has recorded double-digit scoring figures in all but two of his nine outings, averaging 13.2 points per game and shooting a decent 46.4 percent from the field.
Oct 30, 2022
Solid night in starting role
Sexton contributed 19 points (7-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one block across 32 minutes during Saturday's 124-123 win over Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Sexton slotted into the starting lineup for the first time this season, replacing Mike Conley who was given the night off. While Sexton did manage to put up a serviceable line, it does indicate the reason he has been playing limited minutes is due to where he fits in the rotation as opposed to his knee injury. Based on this, it appears as though he is going to play minutes in the teens on most nights, making him a tough player to trust in standard leagues.
Oct 29, 2022
Making first start with Conley out
Sexton will start Saturday's game against the Grizzlies due to the absence of Mike Conley (rest), Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has seen limited action this season -- surprising, given that he was the centerpiece of the Donovan Mitchell trade. There's been no word regarding Sexton still suffering lingering effects from his meniscus tear last season, so the only assumption we can make is that coach Will Hardy views him as a backup. Sexton has an opportunity Saturday to prove he deserves more time. Encouragingly, he's still been productive per minute, averaging 23.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per 36 minutes.
Oct 28, 2022
Available Friday
Sexton will be available for Friday's matchup against Denver, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was listed as questionable due to an oblique injury, but he's been cleared for Friday's contest. It's unclear if he'll have any restrictions during the matchup, but he's yet to see 20-plus minutes in a game since scoring 20 points across 21 minutes during the season opener.
Oct 27, 2022
Questionable at Denver
Sexton (oblique) is questionable for Friday's game against the Nuggets, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
If Sexton plays, he could have a chance at more minutes than usual with Rudy Gay (COVID-19 protocols), Walker Kessler (illness) and Simone Fontecchio (COVID-19 protocols) on the injury report. Sexton has seen 20-plus minutes in just one game this season -- the opener.
Oct 26, 2022
Won't return Wednesday
Sexton won't return to Wednesday's contest against Houston due to a left oblique contusion.
ANALYSIS
It appeared that the guard picked up the injury sometime during the first half of Wednesday's matchup. Sexton posted four points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT) and one steal in 10 minutes before exiting. He'll presumably be tabbed day-to-day leading up to the team's next game Friday against Denver.
Oct 25, 2022
Plays only 15 minutes in loss
Sexton racked up 10 points (4-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds and one assist over 15 minutes during Monday's 114-108 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
It's been a bit of a disappointing start for Sexton, who's come off the bench and played limited minutes in all four games thus far. He did suffer a torn meniscus roughly a calendar year ago, so that may be a factor in his reduced workload. Either way, at some point it's possible -- if not likely -- the Jazz will unleash the 2018 first-round pick in a larger role, but for now it's tough to justify starting him in many formats. Through four appearances, Sexton is averaging 12.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 18.5 minutes per contest.
Oct 14, 2022
Back to bench
Sexton will operate off the bench during Friday's preseason finale against the Mavericks, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton made his first start with the Jazz during Tuesday's exhibition, but he'll return to the bench for Friday's preseason finale as Jordan Clarkson gets the start at shooting guard. Clarkson normally operates off the bench, but with Donovan Mitchell now in Cleveland, it's possible Clarkson enters the starting lineup to begin the 2022-23 campaign.
Oct 11, 2022
Set to make first start with Jazz
Sexton will start in Tuesday's preseason game versus the Spurs, Sarah Todd of The Deseret News reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will make his first start with the Jazz on Tuesday after being traded from the Cavaliers. The fifth-year guard signed a four-year, $72 million contract with Utah, so he should be a key part of the team this season. With the departure of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, Sexton should be in line for a monster season statistically.
Oct 5, 2022
Supplies 13 points from bench
Sexton produced 13 points (5-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds and an assist across 17 minutes in Tuesday's 118-101 win over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has only been with the team a little over a month, and after missing most of last season with a torn meniscus, seeing Sexton on the bench isn't a huge surprise. Before too long, Sexton should find his way into the starting lineup, as Utah didn't sign him to a $72 million contract to come off the pine.
Sep 1, 2022
Headed to Utah in sign-and-trade
Sexton was dealt to the Jazz on Thursday as part of a sign-and-trade that brings Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
For much of the offseason, Sexton's future with the Cavs appeared to be up in the air, but the team will ship him to Utah as part of a multi-player deal that also includes Lauri Markkanen and 2022 first-round pick Ochai Agbaji, as well as three future first-round picks and two future pick swaps. As part of the transaction, Sexton will sign a four-year, $72 million contract with the Jazz -- the entirety of which is fully guaranteed. Sexton played in only 11 games last season due to a torn meniscus, but he's said to be fully recovered and should be a full go for the start of training camp. In 2020-21, Sexton enjoyed a career year, posting 24.3 points, 4.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.6 threes per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field. With the Jazz now having moved on from both Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, they appear to be heading into a rebuild. While they'll likely find themselves near the bottom of the Western Conference standings this season, there should be plenty of opportunity for Sext

Gets qualifying offer from Cavs
Sexton was extended a qualifying offer by the Cavaliers on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
As expected, the Cavs will officially designate Sexton as a restricted free agent, meaning they will have the right to match any offer sheet he signs with another team. At this stage, it's unclear just how high of a price Cleveland would be willing to match -- especially after Sexton missed all but 11 games last season due to a torn meniscus. Earlier this month, the team announced that Sexton is fully recovered from the injury and will be back at full strength for the 2022-23 campaign.
Jun 20, 2022
Fully recovered from torn meniscus
Sexton (knee) has been cleared for full basketball activities, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton tore his meniscus back in early November, wiping out nearly his entire 2021-22 campaign while the Cavs emerged as one of the league's biggest surprise teams. While the injury came at a tough time for Sexton, who's set to hit free agency this summer, Charania notes that the 2018 first-round pick is still expected to command close to $20 million on the open market. At this stage, it's unclear if Sexton will return to the Cavaliers to team with Evan Mobley and Darius Garland. In 2020-21, Sexton averaged 24.3 points, 4.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 60 games played.
Nov 19, 2021
Out for season
Sexton (knee) will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his left meniscus tear, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This is a tough blow for both Sexton and the Cavaliers. He was averaging 16.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.0 triples across 28.7 minutes in 11 games before suffering the injury. Ricky Rubio will presumably continue to start at point guard opposite Darius Garland in the backcourt going forward. Sexton and the team were unable to come to terms on a long-term deal prior to the season, which leaves him as a restricted free agent entering the 2021-22 offseason.
Nov 8, 2021
Out indefinitely
Sexton suffered a torn meniscus to his left knee during Sunday's contest and is expected to be sidelined for an extended period, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton missed the entire second half of Sunday's 126-109 win over the Knicks after he bumped knees with teammate Jarrett Allen in the second quarter. He underwent further evaluation Monday, which revealed a torn meniscus in his left knee. Wojnarowski reports that there is no immediate timetable for his return, but the point guard is expected to have an extended absence. During his absence, Ricky Rubio, who dropped a career-high 37 points Sunday, will likely enter the starting lineup.
Nov 8, 2021
Getting knee checked out
Sexton is scheduled to undergo further evaluation on his left knee Monday in Cleveland, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton missed the entire second half of Sunday's 126-109 win over the Knicks with the injury, after he exited in the second quarter upon bumping knees with teammate Jarrett Allen. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff was unable to provide an update on the extent of Sexton's injury after the game, but Monday's evaluation should shed more light on the matter. If Sexton isn't ready to go for the Cavs' next game Wednesday against the Wizards, Ricky Rubio would likely draw the start in place of the 22-year-old. Rubio opened the second half alongside Darius Garland on Sunday and spearheaded the Cavs' victory with a career-high 37 points.
Nov 7, 2021
Will not return Sunday
Sexton left Sunday's contest early with a knee injury and will not return to the game, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The young guard had recorded eight points and four rebounds before being forced to leave the game due to a knee injury. The exact severity of the injury is still unknown, but it is not a great sign that Sexton was not able to return to Sunday's contest.
Nov 4, 2021
Bounces back in win
Sexton provided 21 points (8-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds and two assists in Wednesday's 107-104 win over the Trail Blazers. He also had five turnovers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton entered Wednesday in an 11-for-33 skid, as well as being 1-for-11 from three, making Wednesday's performance encouraging. Conversely worth noting, Sexton has experienced a downturn in assists, while backcourt mate Darius Garland has bumped his average from 6.1 last season to 7.8 currently. Sexton will look to keep establishing a rhythm Friday against the Raptors.
Nov 1, 2021
Struggles with shooting touch
Sexton scored 17 points (5-17 FG, 1-5 3PT, 6-8 FT) and added seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in 36 minutes Monday against the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton couldn't find any rhythm shooting from the field, hitting on just 29.4 percent of his field goals. He did make up for it on the glass, however, securing seven boards and limiting his turnovers to two, which is a positive sight after turning the ball over six times in Cleveland's previous matchup Saturday in Phoenix.
Oct 28, 2021
Puts up 26 points in win
Sexton finished Wednesday's 92-79 win over the Clippers with 26 points (12-20 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, one assists and three steals over 38 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Sexton entered the contest having totaled 26 points over his previous two contests, and he matched that total in 38 minutes of action Wednesday. Though he missed all four of his attempts from deep, the fourth-year guard still finished with an efficient 12-for-20 mark from the field overall. Sexton is averaging 20.4 points and shooting 51.9 percent from the field through five games this season.
Oct 26, 2021
Posts modest stat line Monday
Sexton totaled 14 points (4-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds and two assists over 25 minutes in Monday's 99-87 win versus Denver.
ANALYSIS
Sexton finished third on the team in scoring in the victory, and he didn't buoy his stat line with much in the way of peripheral stats. Aside from a 33-point outburst against Charlotte on Oct. 22, it has been a slow start to the campaign for the fourth-year guard, as he hasn't scored more than 17 in any other contest. Sexton finished with a career-best 24.3 points per game last season, but he is posting a more modest 19.0 mark through four games in the current campaign.
Oct 22, 2021
Leading scorer Friday
Sexton compiled 33 points (13-21 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, two steals and one assist in 35 minutes during Friday's 123-112 loss to the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was limited to 17 points in Wednesday's season opener but had more looks from the floor against Charlotte. The 22-year-old dealt with a shoulder injury ahead of the regular season but hasn't appeared to have many limitations early in the year.
Oct 19, 2021
Off injury report
Sexton (shoulder) is off the injury report for Wednesday's season opener against the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Sexton missed the Cavaliers' final two preseason games due to a sprained shoulder, but he'll be back in the lineup for the opener. He finished the preseason averaging 14.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 26.0 minutes
Oct 15, 2021
Won't play Friday
Sexton (shoulder) will not play in the Cavaliers' preseason finale against the Pacers on Friday, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was initially not listed on the injury report Friday, but he has since been ruled out for the preseason finale. He finished the preseason averaging 14.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 26.0 minutes and figures to be a key piece for Cleveland during the regular season.
Oct 15, 2021
Off injury report
Sexton (shoulder) is off the injury report for Friday's matchup against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton sat out Sunday against the Bulls due to a sprained shoulder, but he's feeling better with nearly a week off and will play in the team's final preseason contest. In his three preseason appearances, he's averaged 14.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 26.0 minutes. However, he struggled taking care of the ball, totaling 15 turnovers.
Oct 9, 2021
Out due to sprained shoulder
Sexton will not play Sunday against the Bulls due to a sprained right shoulder.
ANALYSIS
Through three preseason games, Sexton has averaged 14.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 26.0 minutes. However, a sprained shoulder will keep him out Sunday, and it wouldn't be surprising if he sat the remainder of the preseason out of precaution.
Oct 6, 2021
Seven turnovers in 33 minutes
Sexton finished Wednesday's preseason win over the Hawks with 19 points (7-17 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-6 FT), six rebounds, two assists, one steal and seven turnovers.
ANALYSIS
Playing on the second half of a back-to-back after being blown out by the Bulls on Tuesday, the Cavs responded by treating Wednesday's game like a regular-season contest. Sexton was one of three Cavs starters to play at least 33 minutes on a night when J.B. Bickerstaff used just 10 players -- a rarity in any preseason game. While Sexton led the Cavs in scoring, he committed a game-high seven turnovers, giving him 12 through the team's first two exhibitions.
May 17, 2021
Ends season with 16-point effort
Sexton produced 16 points (5-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five assists, two rebounds and a steal across 20 minutes in Sunday's 123-109 loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton made an early exit in a game that held no consequence for the Cavaliers, who will go back to the drawing board and focus on providing more support for Sexton in the offseason. The third-year Alabama product can pop with extreme upside when his shot is dialed in, and he's one of the league's most underrated playmakers.
May 15, 2021
Drops game-high 26 in loss
Sexton scored 26 points (8-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 8-8 FT) while adding four assists and a rebound in 31 minutes during Friday's loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
The third-year guard led all scorers on the night, but a lack of production off the bench for the Cavs led to Sexton's efforts going to waste. He's dropped at least 24 points in five straight games, averaging 26.0 points, 6.2 assists, 3.0 boards and 1.4 threes over that stretch.
May 12, 2021
Sinks career-high 13 free throws
Sexton registered 28 points (7-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 13-16 FT), eight assists, two rebounds and one block in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 102-94 win over the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old has been on a tear since missing three games back in late April due to a concussion, averaging 24.4 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 three-pointers and 0.8 steals over his last eight games. Sexton has been a top-100 fantasy player on the season, and he'll look to keep up his torrid scoring pace Friday on the road against the 10th-seeded Wizards.
May 11, 2021
Scores 25 despite poor shooting
Sexton scored 25 points (7-26 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 10-12 FT) to go along with eight assists, five rebounds and one steal across 37 minutes in Monday's loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton shot abysmally from the field, but salvaged his night by getting to the free-throw line 12 times and converting efficiently. He also notched at least seven assists for the fourth time in his last seven games. Given his 47.5 percent field-goal percentage for the season, Sexton should be counted on to score more efficiently in the final few games of the season.
May 9, 2021
Scores 24 in blowout
Sexton had 24 points (8-19 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 5-7 FT), seven assists and three rebounds in Sunday's loss to Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Sexton scoring 20-plus points and the Cavs losing big has become a common theme down the stretch, but fantasy managers are no worse for the wear as Cleveland tanks its way to the end of the regular season. It's fair to wonder if Sexton's style ultimately translates to wins, but he's on pace to set career bests in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals and field-goal efficiency in his their dNBA season.
May 8, 2021
Scores team-high 27 points
Sexton mustered 27 points (9-18 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 9-11 FT), four rebounds and four assists across 36 minutes in Friday's loss against the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has scored at least 25 points in three of his last five appearances since returning from a three-game absence, and he has put up 22 or more points in all but one of his last 15 outings since the beginning of March. The star guard is handling an even bigger role on offense with Darius Garland (ankle) sidelined and should have an even higher usage rate during the final days of the regular season.
May 5, 2021
Goes for 29-7-7 in loss
Sexton totaled 29 points (11-24 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-7 FT), seven rebounds and seven assists in a 134-118 loss to the Suns on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Sexton scored 20-plus points for the 14th consecutive game and matched his season-high rebound total. With Darius Garland (ankle) out of the lineup, Sexton has also been an effective distributor of late, totaling 15 assists across his last two games. Since returning from a concussion three games ago, Sexton has averaged 25.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game.
May 2, 2021
Comes close to double-double
Sexton registered 25 points (8-20 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 5-8 FT), eight assists, four rebounds, two steals and a block across 39 minutes in Saturday's loss against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Sexton missed three games due to a concussion but hasn't missed a beat since returning, and he has scored at least 20 points in both games since getting back to the hardwood. Sexton has now scored at least 20 points in 14 games in a row -- he's averaging 25.6 points per game while shooting 49.6 percent from the field in that span.
May 1, 2021
Team-high 22 in loss
Sexton scored 22 points (7-19 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 7-7 FT) while adding seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 32 minutes during Friday's loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old led the Cavs in scoring in his return to the court after a three-game absence due to a concussion, although his eight turnovers also contributed to the loss. Sexton has scored at least 20 points in 13 straight games in which he's played, averaging 25.7 points, 4.2 boards, 3.5 assists, 1.4 threes and 1,1 steals over that stretch.
Apr 30, 2021
Will play Friday
Sexton (concussion) will play Friday against the Wizards, Chris Miller of NBC Sports Washington reports.
ANALYSIS
Following a three-game absence due to a concussion, Sexton will make his return to the lineup. Cedi Osman will likely head back to the bench as a result.
Apr 30, 2021
Game-time decision Friday
Sexton (concussion) will be a game-time decision Friday against the Wizards, Evan Dammarell of Fear The Sword reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has missed the Cavalier's last three games but could return to the court Friday. If the 22-year-old is unable to play, expect Isaac Okoro to start in his place once again. The Alabama standout was on a tear before getting injured, averaging 27.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
Apr 29, 2021
Questionable Friday
Sexton (concussion) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has missed the last three games, but his upgrade to "questionable" at least marks a step in the right direction. If he's able to make a return, Cedi Osman could see a role reduction.
Apr 27, 2021
Out Wednesday
Sexton (concussion) is out Wednesday against the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will be sidelined for a third straight game due to a concussion. In his absence, Cedi Osman should continue starting and seeing big minutes.
Apr 26, 2021
Ruled out Monday
Sexton (concussion) will not play in Monday's game against the Raptors, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will miss a second straight game after picking up a concussion during Friday's loss to the Hornets. Cedi Osman was the biggest beneficiary during Sunday's game against Washington, as he returned to the rotation and played 37 minutes, finishing with 19 points, five assists, two rebounds and a steal.
Apr 24, 2021
Out with concussion
Sexton is out Sunday against the Wizards due to a concussion.
ANALYSIS
There's a good chance Sexton will miss multiple games as he works through concussion protocol, especially since the Cavaliers play again Monday against the Raptors. In his place, Matthew Dellavedova and Cedi Osman could see more minutes.
Apr 24, 2021
Drops 28 in loss to Hornets
Sexton scored a game-high 28 points (11-19 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-5 FT) while adding seven rebounds, two assists and a steal in 34 minutes during Friday's loss to the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
The third-year guard continues to light it up, scoring 20 or more points for the 12th straight game while averaging 26.0 points, 3.9 boards, 3.6 assists, 1.4 threes and 1.1 steals over that stretch. The Cavs' young backcourt of Sexton and Darius Garland has taken a big step forward; now the organization just needs to build a roster around them.
Apr 22, 2021
Leads Cleveland in scoring
Sexton delivered 30 points (11-17 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven assists, three rebounds and a steal across 31 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Sexton paced the Cavaliers in both points and assists while notching his seventh game with at least 30 points in the current campaign. The 2018 first-round pick is on a scoring tear, as he has notched 20 or more points in 11 straight games -- averaging 25.8 points in that stretch.
Apr 19, 2021
Another big scoring night
Sexton scored 28 points (12-20 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-3 FT) to go along with seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal across 38 minutes in Monday's loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Sexton shot well from all areas of the floor to continue an impressive scoring stretch, as he's averaged 25.4 points across his last ten games. He also found found ways to contribute across the rest of the box score, matching a season-high in rebounds and reaching at least four assists for the fourth time in his last six contests. Sexton's defensive contributions were also welcomed, though this effort marked only the fourth time in his career he's blocked multiple shots in a game.
Apr 16, 2021
Scores 30 in return
Sexton scored 30 points (10-19 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 7-10 FT) with four rebounds and two assists in a 119-101 loss to the Warriors on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Sexton returned from a two-game absence due to a groin injury and picked up right where he left off. The guard has scored 20-plus points in eight consecutive contests, and he's averaged 25.5 points, 3.5 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game over that span. It was also the first game in which Sexton has made multiple threes since March 21 (nine games).
Apr 15, 2021
Cleared to play
Sexton (groin) is available for Friday's game against the Warriors, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
After a two-game absence, Sexton will be back in the lineup. The result will likely be fewer minutes for Matthew Dellavedova and Cedi Osman. Since the start of March, Sexton has averaged 25.6 points, 4.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 35.4 minutes.
Apr 15, 2021
Questionable vs. Warriors
Sexton (groin) is questionable for Thursday's contest against the Warriors, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has missed the past two games with a strained groin. The Cavaliers started Darius Garland and Isaac Okoro in the backcourt during Wednesday's game. If Sexton is unable to go, that duo would likely continue to start.
Apr 14, 2021
Will not play Wednesday
Sexton (groin) will not play in Wednesday's game against Charlotte, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A strained groin will keep Sexton out of back-to-back games, though the Cavs will get Darius Garland back from an ankle injury. Cleveland will roll with Isaac Okoro at shooting guard, while Dean Wade, Kevin Love and Jarrett Allen comprise the rest of the starting five.
Apr 13, 2021
Questionable Wednesday
Sexton (groin) is questionable for Wednesday's contest against the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton missed the Cavaliers' most recent game and was limited at Tuesday's practice. If he's sidelined again, look for Matthew Dellavedova to see more action.
Apr 13, 2021
Limited at practice
Sexton (groin) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Sexton and Darius Garland (ankle) were limited Tuesday. That doesn't necessarily bode well for their respective statuses ahead of Wednesday's game at Charlotte, which falls on the first night of a back-to-back. The Cavs started Matthew Dellavedova and Isaac Okoro in the backcourt Sunday against New Orleans.
Apr 11, 2021
Ruled out Sunday
Sexton (groin) will not play in Sunday's game against the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Sexton tweaked his groin Saturday night against Toronto, and he'll be held out Sunday on the second half of the back-to-back set. With Darius Garland (ankle) also out, the Cavs will be without their starting backcourt, so any of Matthew Dellavedova, Brodric Thomas, Cedi Osman, Quinn Cook and Damyean Dotson could be set for a boost in minutes.
Apr 11, 2021
Uncertain for Sunday
Sexton (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Sexton appears to have picked up a strained left groin after he scored 29 points in Saturday's loss to Toronto. If the 22-year-old guard is forced to sit out Sunday in the second half of a back-to-back, Brodric Thomas, Matthew Dellavedova and Quinn Cook could see increased workloads.
Apr 11, 2021
Team-high 29 points in blowout loss
Sexton compiled 29 points (10-20 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 8-9 FT), five assists and a steal across 35 minutes in Saturday's 135-115 loss to the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
The Cavs probably thought they had a shot against the short-handed Raptors, but they couldn't match Toronto's offensive firepower despite an admirable outing from Sexton. Due to the recent upheaval in the Cleveland frontcourt, Sexton is probably the most dependable fantasy option on the roster, although Kevin Love should level out with decent lines when his minute restriction is lifted.
Apr 9, 2021
Scores team-high 27 points
Sexton mustered 27 points (9-17 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 9-10 FT), four assists, three rebounds and a steal across 33 minutes in Thursday's win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Sexton led the Cavaliers in scoring, something that has been a trend all season long, and he also extended his sizzling run -- he has now scored 20 or more points in each of his last six appearances while accomplishing that feat in 10 of his previous 11 contests. Sexton regularly complements those figures with assists and rebounds on a nightly basis, but there's no question most -- if not all -- of his fantasy upside lies on what he can do scoring the rock.
Apr 5, 2021
Goes for 22 points Monday
Sexton had 22 points (7-17 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five assists and three rebounds across 34 minutes in Monday's win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Sexton usually works as the Cavaliers' go-to player on offense, but he took a secondary role in this one after Darius Garland posted a career-high 37 points. Sexton did extend his streak of games with 20 or more points to five contests, though, and he should remain Cleveland's most reliable scoring threat on a nightly basis -- even if he's not going to post elevated shooting percentage on most nights.
Apr 1, 2021
Leads team in points during loss
Sexton recorded 24 points (7-15 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 9-9 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals through 33 minutes during the 114-94 loss to Philadelphia on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was a solid source of production for the Cavaliers, but struggled defensively. Sexton continues to be one of the primary producers for Cleveland and he added a few boards and dimes as well. However, he did not shoot well and lacked efficiency outside of his perfect night from the line. Granted he is still averaging 23.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 36 minutes so far this season. Thus, even when Sexton does have an off night, he will still produce enough to hold his value.
Mar 30, 2021
Leads team with 20 points
Sexton posted 20 points (8-18 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 35 minutes during Monday's loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old has played at least 35 minutes in both games since returning to the lineup after missing two games due to right hamstring soreness. Sexton is averaging 23.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals during that span. The third-year guard looks healthy and should handle his usual 35-40 minute role the rest of the way, but don't be surprised if he sits on future back-to-back sets with Cleveland falling further out of playoff contention.
Mar 28, 2021
Drops 26 points in return
Sexton tallied 26 points (11-24 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-5 FT), six rebounds, four assists and two steals across 40 minutes in Saturday's loss to Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Sexton missed Cleveland's previous two games while nursing a hamstring injury, but he looked none the worse for wear Saturday, pacing the Cavs in scoring and minutes. The 22-year-old continues to blossom in his third NBA campaign, ranking among the top 20 leaguewide with 24.0 points per contest while shooting a career-best 47.7 percent from the field.
Mar 27, 2021
Good to go Saturday
Sexton (hamstring) is active and starting Saturday against the Kings, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old was considered probable for Saturday after sitting out Friday's contest, so it's not much of a surprise to see him back in the lineup. Sexton is averaging 26.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals through nine games in March.
Mar 27, 2021
Probable Saturday
Sexton (hamstring) is probable for Saturday's game against the Kings, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
After two missed games due to right hamstring soreness, Sexton is expected to return. Cedi Osman would appear to be in line to head to the bench as a result, but with Jarrett Allen (concussion) ruled out, Osman may remain a starter if Larry Nance gets the nod at center.
Mar 26, 2021
Ruled out Friday
Sexton (hamstring) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Lakers, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was a game-time call Friday due to right hamstring soreness, and he'll be forced to miss a second straight contest. Cedi Osman could serve as a starter once again Friday, while Dylan Windler and Brodric Thomas should also see increased run for Cleveland.
Mar 26, 2021
Game-time call Friday
Sexton (hamstring) is a game-time decision for Friday's game against the Lakers, Marla Ridenour of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old sat out Wednesday's win over the Bulls with a sore right hamstring, but he could return to action Friday. Sexton will need to gain clearance pregame to have a chance of suiting up in Los Angeles. Cedi Osman could receive another start if Sexton is unavailable.
Mar 26, 2021
Questionable vs. Lakers
Sexton (hamstring) is questionable for Friday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton missed Wednesday's win over the Bulls due to right hamstring soreness, and he could remain out again Friday. It's a late, 10:30 P.M. ET tipoff, so Sexton will have plenty of time to test things out before the game starts. If he sits out again, Cedi Osman could draw another start.
Mar 24, 2021
Out with sore hamstring
Sexton is out for Wednesday's game against the Bulls due to a sore right hamstring.
ANALYSIS
Wednesday will mark Sexton's first missed game since Jan. 15. He's one of the focal points of the Cavaliers' offense, so players like Darius Garland and Cedi Osman might have to take on more playmaking responsibilities. Dylan Windler and Quinn Cook could also see more minutes.
Mar 22, 2021
Dishes out team-high seven dimes
Sexton totaled 15 points (6-15 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), seven assists and four rebounds over 29 minutes in the loss to the Kings on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Sexton had a run of four straight outings hitting the 20-point mark prior to Monday. His 15 field goal attempts were the fewest he's had in a game he attempted nine shots back on Feb. 10. The third-year pro is still enjoying a nice season including averaging career highs in points, assists, minutes and shooting percentage.
Mar 21, 2021
Explodes for 36 points in win
Sexton produced 36 points (13-24 FG, 6-9 3Pt, 4-6 FT), four assists, three rebounds and two steals across 39 minutes in Sunday's 116-105 win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Sexton and the Cavs handed Toronto its eighth straight loss on Sunday and gained some ground against them in the playoff hunt. Sexton made plays all over the court and converted six three-pointers in the contest, representing his highest total of the season.
Mar 19, 2021
Scores 29 points again
Sexton tallied 29 points (12-25 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 38 minutes during Friday's 116-100 loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old now has back-to-back games with 29 points. Sexton has been on a tear over his last 15 games, averaging 25.6 points, 4.1 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals while shooting 47 percent from the field in that span. The third-year guard is doing it all for the 12th seeded Cavaliers, and he should continue playing heavy minutes the rest of the way.
Mar 18, 2021
Leads way with 29 points
Sexton had 29 points (10-20 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), seven rebounds and six assists in Wednesday's win over Boston.
ANALYSIS
Sexton had been mired in a mini-slump since the All-Star break, but he broke out in a big way Wednesday with one of his better all-around games in several weeks. Sexton's seven rebounds established a new season high, while he handed out at least six assists for just the third time in his last 13 games. The third-year guard continues to score the ball consistently, but fantasy managers would like to see more consistency when it comes to his other counting stats.
Mar 17, 2021
Puts up 21 in losing effort
Sexton had 21 points (7-17 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 5-6 FT) and three assists in Tuesday's loss to Miami.
ANALYSIS
It was yet another double-digit loss for the Cavs, but Sexton notched his first 20-point game since the All-Star break. The third-year guard has shown some improvement this season, but he's still very much a score-first player, and he's totaled just five assists over the last three games.
Mar 13, 2021
Scores 19 points in loss
Sexton registered 19 points (7-18 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three steals, two rebounds and one assist in 31 minutes during Friday's 116-82 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old scored a team-high 19 points and matched a season-high with three steals Friday. Sexton is enjoying a career year, averaging 24.1 points, 4.5 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals while shooting 49 percent from the field. He should continue seeing 35-40 minutes per game as long as the Cavaliers stay within reach of the playoffs.
Mar 3, 2021
Tops 30 points again
Sexton (12-25 FG, 2-5 3PT, 6-6 FT) to go along with four rebounds, 10 assists and three steals across 43 minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton had massive volume across the board, topping 40 minutes for the third consecutive game. He also posted a 32.7 percent usage rate, which he combined with efficient shooting to top 30 points for the second consecutive game. Topping off Sexton's performance was his first double-digit assist effort of the campaign, with the only drawback being six turnovers.
Mar 2, 2021
Erupts for 39 points
Sexton registered 39 points (12-20 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 11-15 FT), eight assists, three rebounds and two steals across 42 minutes in Monday's win over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton looked absolutely dominant on the offensive end of the court and posted his second-best scoring output of the campaign, as he netted 42 points in a Jan. 20 matchup with the Nets. Sexton is Cleveland's go-to player on offense and is delivering as such, scoring at least 20 points in nine straight contests.
Feb 28, 2021
Scores team-best 28 points
Sexton had 28 points (11-27 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, three assists and three steals across 45 minutes in Saturday's overtime win over the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's efficiency levels were subpar once again, but he's been a player who relies upon volume and not efficiency to light up the scoreboard. Sexton was far from effective from the field and missed four of his five three-point attempts, but he came through in the clutch when his team needed him and remains the Cavaliers' go-to player on offense. He has scored 20-plus points in eight straight contests, surpassing the 25-point plateau in three of his last four appearances.
Feb 23, 2021
Drops 29 in win
Sexton finished with 29 points (9-16 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 8-10 FT) five assists, one board and one steal in 34 minutes of a 112-111 win against Atlanta on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Sexton had the ball in his hands with his team down one and found a wide-open Lamar Stevens to give his team the win, breaking a 10-game losing streak. Sexton continues to be the primary offensive generator for the Cavs, with more than 20 points in his last six games. He'll face the Rockets on Wednesday.
Feb 21, 2021
Leading scorer in loss
Sexton generated 27 points (11-22 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds and three assists over 40 minutes in Sunday's 117-101 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Sexton led the Cavaliers in scoring once again Sunday, and he matched his highest rebound total of the season during the loss. He's now topped 20 points in each of the past five contests and has been a key contributor even though the team in the midst of a 10-game losing streak.
Feb 19, 2021
Scores 23 points
Sexton scored 23 points (8-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT) to go along with four assists across 38 minutes in Friday's loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton led the Cavaliers in scoring and has topped 20 points in five of his last six games. His shooting from three-point range was notable, as he connected for more than two threes for only the second time in his last 17 contests. The rest of Sexton's stat line was relatively empty, though he's still averaging a career-best 4.2 assists per game.
Feb 16, 2021
Wednesday's game postponed
Sexton and the Cavaliers will not play Wednesday after the game was postponed, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Spurs had four players test positive for COVID-19, so they won't be playing Wednesday. Cleveland's next game now doesn't come against Feb. 21 against Oklahoma City.
Feb 16, 2021
Stuffs stat sheet Monday
Sexton recorded 23 points (9-20 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds, five assists and three steals across 42 minutes in Monday's loss against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Sexton delivered a woeful four-point performance on Feb. 10 against the Nuggets, but if we exclude that game, then he has scored at least 15 points in 12 straight games, including 20-plus points in four in a row. Sexton is firmly entrenched as the Cavaliers' go-to player on offense and that role, along with his high-volume shooting figures, should give him a nice floor most nights.
Feb 15, 2021
Scores 22 points in loss
Sexton scored 22 points (8-16 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-9 FT) and contributed three rebounds, two assists and one steal in the Cavaliers' 128-111 loss to the Clippers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After a tough shooting game Friday, Sexton was able to bounce back and have a more efficient performance, despite not making a single three. Sexton is an improved three-point shooter in his third season, shooting 42 percent from distance compared to just 38 percent a season ago. Look for Sexton to get back on track shooting the three against Golden State on Monday after failing to hit a three in two out of his last three games.
Feb 13, 2021
Paces Cleveland in scoring
Sexton logged 25 points (8-16 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 8-9 FT), five assists, three rebounds and two steals over 41 minutes in Friday's 129-110 loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
After posting a season-low four points in Wednesday's loss to the Nuggets, Sexton was much more effective against Portland on Friday. Although he was unable to get much assistance from his teammates in the blowout loss, the 22-year-old returned to form and will attempt to remain effective in the first half of a back-to-back set Sunday against the Clippers.
Feb 9, 2021
Finds success against tough defense
Sexton compiled 23 points (10-15 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five assists and two rebounds across34 minutes in Monday's 119-113 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Sexton and backcourt teammate Darius Garland had great success in penetrating Phoenix's stalwart defense and faced little resistance against their perimeter shooting. Although they fell short in this contest, Sexton continues to excel after his five-game absence, with a 12-game average of 22.6 points and 4.5 assists.
Feb 7, 2021
Struggles from field Saturday
Sexton totaled 17 points (6-18 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-6 FT), three rebounds, three assists and a steal across 34 minutes in Saturday's loss against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton shot 33 percent from the field, 33 percent from deep and 50 percent from the charity stripe Saturday, so this was clearly an off night for the high-scoring guard. He still found a way to come close to the 20-point mark, and there's a chance the neck strain that slowed him down Friday might have affected him once again, but Sexton should be a reliable fantasy asset as long as he remains in the Cavs' lineup.
Feb 6, 2021
Leads team in points despite strain
Sexton (neck) supplied 19 points (7-17 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four assists, two rebounds, one block and one steal Friday in a 123-105 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was reportedly dealing with a neck strain, which did not seem to affect his level of play Friday. Sexton's 19 points add up to his lowest scoring tally of the month so far, but he is still averaging 24.0 points across three games. The Cavs will hope Sexton's neck injury is not a major issue and that he can suit up for their rematch against the Bucks on Saturday.
Feb 5, 2021
Will play Friday
Sexton (neck) will play Friday against the Bucks, Austin Carr of Fox Sports Ohio reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton is dealing with a strained neck, but that won't prevent him from playing Friday. Over the past five games, he's averaging 23.0 points, 4.0 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 36.2 minutes.
Feb 4, 2021
Questionable Friday
Sexton is questionable for Friday's game against Milwaukee due to a neck strain.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was dominant during Wednesday's loss to the Clippers, recording 27 points and five assists over 38 minutes. However, he's now dealing with a neck issue that could keep him out for Friday's matchup. If he's unable to play, Dylan Windler and Damyean Dotson could see increased run for Cleveland.
Feb 3, 2021
Outdueled late
Sexton had 27 points (11-21 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five assists, a rebound and a steal across 38 minutes of action in the Cavaliers' 121-99 loss to the Clippers on Wednesday night.
ANALYSIS
Sexton published his "Back on the Map" article in the Players Tribune, and did his best to fuel a Cavs' upset to no avail. Sexton has been elevating his offense to new levels this season, firing 86 over his previous five games and connecting on nearly 50 percent. He's been a fringe top-10 point guard for fantasy purposes and an ADP bargain.
Feb 1, 2021
Paces Cavaliers in win
Sexton registered 26 points (7-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 10-11 FT), three rebounds and three assists across 41 minutes in Monday's win over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Sexton had scored fewer than 20 points in four of his previous five contests, but he bounced back admirably here and surpassed the 25-point plateau for the seventh time this campaign. The electric shooting guard is having a career-best season and is the undisputed leader of the Cavaliers' offense, averaging 23.1 points per game over his last eight appearances.
Jan 29, 2021
Struggles from field in loss
Sexton posted 17 points (6-18 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), a rebound and five assists across 35 minutes in Friday's loss against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton failed to reach the 20-point mark for the third time this season, and perhaps worryingly, all three of those games have come across his last four appearances. The third-year shooting guard is having a career-best year across the board, though, and he continues to be the driving force in the Cavaliers' offense even when he has off nights such as this one. He is averaging 23.8 points per game in nine January appearances.
Jan 27, 2021
Drops team high 29 in win
Sexton dropped 29 points (10-14 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 8-10 FT), five rebounds, five assists and two steals over 35 minutes Wednesday during the Cavs' 122-107 win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
After two straight games shooting under 40 percent from the floor, Wednesday was a welcome sight as his 71.4 percent shooting was a season high. The one negative for Sexton has been turnovers, averaging 5.0 per game over his last three games.
Jan 26, 2021
Struggles again Monday
Sexton totaled 17 points (6-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds and six assists in Monday's loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton finished third on the team with 17 points, but he converted only six of 17 field-goal attempts and committed a team-high six turnovers. The third-year guard has combined for 12 turnovers and shot only 9-for-25 (36 percent) from the field over his last two games. Still, Sexton is enjoying his best overall season with per-game averages of 24.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals -- all career-high marks.
Jan 24, 2021
Scores team-high 13 points
Sexton recorded 13 points (3-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 7-7 FT), two rebounds and two assists across 16 minutes in Sunday's loss against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
The Cavaliers struggled massively Sunday and Sexton was one of the team's most sloppy players -- even though he paced Cleveland with 13 points, he benefited from seven trips to the charity stripe while also committing six turnovers, a figure that tied his season-high mark. Sexton also failed to reach the 20-point mark for the first time in the current campaign but also logged 16 minutes, and all signs would seem to indicate he's capable of delivering a bounce-back performance Monday in another tough matchup against the Lakers.
Jan 23, 2021
Near double-double vs. Nets
Sexton recorded 25 points (8-19 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 8-9 FT), nine assists and two rebounds in a 125-113 win Friday versus Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Sexton served as both the Cavs' primary scorer and distributor during their second win over a new-look Nets team. He does not regularly supply value like an elite playmaker, recording fewer than nine assists in all but three of his games played. Sexton has provided value as a scorer by averaging 26.8 points across 10 games this season.
Jan 20, 2021
Erupts for season-best 42 points
Sexton scored 42 points (16-29 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 5-9 FT) while adding five rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block across 38 minutes in Wednesday's double-overtime win over the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Sexton returned from a five-game absence and made his presence felt down the stretch. He caught fire when the team needed him the most, as he drilled a game-tying three-pointer with only 1.2 seconds left in the first overtime and later scored 15 straight points in the second overtime to pull the game out of Brooklyn's reach. The 42-point performance also represents a season-high mark for the third-year guard, who has scored at least 20 points in every one of his appearances to date.
Jan 20, 2021
Playing, starting Wednesday
Sexton (ankle) will play and start Wednesday against the Nets, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Following a five-game absence due to a sprained left ankle, Sexton will make his return and start Wednesday. It's possible he won't play a full complement of minutes. He was on a tear before suffering the injury, averaging 25.1 points on 53.1 percent shooting.
Jan 20, 2021
Game-time call Wednesday
Sexton (ankle) is considered a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against Brooklyn, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Considering Sexton was able to practice in full this week, there's a good chance he'll make his return Wednesday night, but the Cavs won't tip their hand until closer to the 7:00 PM ET tip off. Both Sexton and Darius Garland (shoulder) participated in shootaround Wednesday morning.
Jan 19, 2021
Questionable for Wednesday
Sexton (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
The 21-year-old took part in Monday's practice and may be able to return from the five-game absence due to the left ankle sprain. Sexton was averaging 25.1 points in 37.4 minutes through eight games before the injury, and it's unclear if he have a minutes restriction if he's able to retake the court Wednesday.
Jan 19, 2021
Could return Wednesday
Sexton (ankle) returned to practice Monday, Angel Gray of Fox Sports Cleveland reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Sexton and Darius Garland (shoulder) were able to log full practices, so the Cavs may be on track to get their starting backcourt back for Wednesday's matchup against Brooklyn. Sexton, who hasn't played since Jan. 6, has begun the year with eight consecutive 20-plus-point outings.
Jan 15, 2021
Games Sunday, Monday postponed
Sexton and the Cavaliers will not play the Wizards on Sunday or Monday, as the games have been postponed, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Wizards will not have the required eight available players, so the mini-series will not take place. The next time for Sexton to take the court arrives Wednesday against the Nets.
Jan 14, 2021
Out Friday
Sexton (ankle) will not play in Friday's game against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
It'll be the fifth straight absence for Sexton, who continues to nurse a sprained left ankle. The Cavs will also be without Darius Garland (shoulder), so expect Damyean Dotson, Isaac Okoro and Cedi Osman to continue seeing increased minutes.
Jan 12, 2021
Out for Tuesday's game
Sexton (ankle) is listed as out for Tuesday's game against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Sexton will miss his fourth game in a row due to a left ankle injury that has set him back after a strong start to the season. Damyean Dotson will likely continue to see an increased workload with Sexton still out.
Jan 11, 2021
Late scratch
Sexton has been scratched from Monday's starting lineup against the Grizzlies, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was expected back in action Monday evening after missing the last two games with an ankle injury, but it appears he's suffered a last-minute setback. Damyean Dotson draws the start at point guard in Sexton's place.
Jan 11, 2021
Back in action Monday
Sexton (ankle) will play Monday against the Grizzlies, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old missed the past two games with a left ankle sprain, but he'll retake the court Monday against Memphis. Sexton is averaging 37.1 minutes this season, but the Cavaliers plan to keep his minutes in the low-30s in his return.
Jan 10, 2021
Questionable Monday
Sexton (ankle) is questionable for Monday's game against the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has missed the past two contests due to an ankle sprain, and he'll be listed as questionable once again ahead of Monday's game. If he's unable to suit up, Damyean Dotson should see increased run against Memphis.
Jan 9, 2021
Won't play Saturday
Sexton (ankle) is unavailable for Saturday's game at Milwaukee, Spencer Davies of BasketballInsiders.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old was originally considered questionable with the ankle sprain but will be sidelined for the second straight contest. Damyean Dotson should handle point duties in Sexton's absence, given Cleveland's significant injury issues in the backcourt.
Jan 9, 2021
Doesn't participate in shootaround
Sexton (ankle) didn't participate in shootaround Saturday, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was listed as questionable ahead of Saturday's game against the Bucks, and his absence from shootaround is a discouraging sign. If he misses a second consecutive game, Damyean Dotson could see increased run for Cleveland on Saturday.
Jan 8, 2021
Questionable for Saturday
Sexton (ankle) has been deemed questionable for Saturday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was a late scratch for Thursday's contest versus the Grizzlies due to the ankle issue and it apparently hasn't subsided quite yet. Look for another update on his status to surface ahead of the 8 PM ET tip-off Saturday. If he's able to suit up, Sexton will aim to continue a stretch of eight straight 20-plus point contests to open the season.
Jan 7, 2021
Late scratch for Thursday's game
Sexton (ankle) will not play in Thursday's game against the Grizzlies, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS

Jan 7, 2021
Will play Thursday
Sexton (ankle) will play Thursday against the Grizzlies, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's ankle sprain is apparently minor enough that he won't be forced to miss any game action. The 22-year-old point guard has scored at least 20 points in all eight previous games this season, and he should have a chance to do so again with Darius Garland (shoulder) already ruled out.
Jan 7, 2021
Expected to play
Sexton (ankle) is expected to be available for Thursday's game against the Grizzlies, Evan Dammarell of Forbes Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
A sprained ankle landed Sexton on the injury report, but during pregame coach JB Bickerstaff indicated that he expects the guard to be available. Sexton has scored at least 20 points in all eight games this season -- he most recently posted 21 points, four assists and three rebounds in Wednesday's loss to the Magic.
Jan 7, 2021
Questionable with sprained ankle
Sexton (ankle) is considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Grizzlies due to a sprained ankle, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This is the first we've heard of the injury, though Sexton likely picked it up during Wednesday's loss to the Magic, in which he scored 21 points and added four assists and three boards. With Darius Garland (shoulder) already ruled out and Damyean Dotson (ankle) also questionable, the Cavs are at risk of being left severely shorthanded on the second night of a back-to-back.
Jan 6, 2021
Scores game-high 21 points
Sexton scored 21 points (8-20 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT) to go with four assists, three rebounds, one block and one steal across 35 minutes in a 105-94 loss to Orlando on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Sexton attempted at least 20 field-goals for the first time since December 26, due in part to running mate Darius Garland missing another game due to a shoulder injury. The young guard has continued to impress without his back-court partner, having continued to score 20 or more points in each appearance this season. Sexton has set career marks in three-point percentage, assists per game and steals per game this year, showing just how reliable and dependable the 22-year-old can be in a lineup.
Jan 4, 2021
Leads team with 24 points
Sexton tallied 24 points (10-19 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 39 minutes in the 103-83 loss to the Magic.

ANALYSIS
Sexton and Andre Drummond teamed up to erase a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter. The third-year guard is lighting it up in what could be a breakout season. He entered Saturday's contest averaging 25.8 points, 3.8 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game.
Dec 31, 2020
Leads Cavs with 28 points
Sexton scored 28 points (12-19 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and contributed four assists, one steal and one block in Thursday's loss to Indiana.
ANALYSIS
Sexton continued his excellent scoring run to begin the campaign, dropping at least 20 points for the fifth straight game. That streak extends to 10 straight going back to last season, highlighting the youngster's role as Cleveland's primary scoring option. Sexton is averaging a hearty 25.8 points per game in his third NBA campaign while shooting 55.6 percent from the field.
Dec 27, 2020
Pours in 22 points
Sexton provided 22 points (8-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), three rebounds, three assists and a steal across 29 minutes in Sunday's 118-94 win over the Sixers.
ANALYSIS
The Cavs are red-hot at 3-0, and Sexton looks like hr's ready for a breakout season in his third year as a pro. He led the team in scoring in their first two games and was second only to Drummond on Sunday. The Alabama product is now a must-start in all fantasy formats due to his top-notch play.
Dec 26, 2020
Leads all scorers in win
Sexton scored a game-high 32 points (15-23 FG, 2-3 3PT, 0-1 FT) and added three assists, three steals and two rebounds across 45 minutes in Saturday's 128-119 double-overtime win over Detroit.

Leads way with scoring
Sexton recorded 27 points (9-16 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 6-9 FT), five assists and two rebounds in a 121-114 win versus Charlotte on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Sexton entered Wednesday's game having played just one matchup this preseason. The third-year guard showed little rust though, especially in a first half where he scored 18 points (6-7 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT). Sexton will look to maintain this kind of production as the Cavaliers' primary scoring option.
Dec 23, 2020
Fourth-year option picked up
The Cavaliers exercised Sexton's $6.35 million team option for 2021-22 on Wednesday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland also picked up the third-year options of Darius Garland, Kevin Porter and Dylan Windler ahead of Wednesday's season opener versus the Hornets. Sexton is slated to open the 2020-21 campaign as Cleveland's starting shooting guard after he averaged a team-high 20.8 points per game last season.
Dec 18, 2020
Ugly shooting performance Friday
Sexton notched six points (2-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four assists and two rebounds across 21 minutes in Friday's 119-83 preseason loss at the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's biggest contribution was the fact that he ended tied for the team's lead in assists with four, as he struggled badly with his shot. He shot 47.2 percent from the field last season, however, so this kind of output might be an anomaly instead of the norm going forward.
Dec 18, 2020
Likely available Friday
Sexton (ankle) is probable for Friday's preseason game against the Knicks, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
The 21-year-old missed the first three preseason games due to the right ankle sprain, but he should be back on the court for Friday's finale. Sexton averaged 20.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal in 33.0 minutes while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 38.0 percent from deep during his sophomore campaign last season.
Dec 16, 2020
Not playing Wednesday
Sexton (ankle) is out for Wednesday's preseason action against the Knicks, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has yet to make his preseason debut, and the Cavaliers have just one more exhibition contest, which takes place on Friday. If he's out for that contest as well, we'll have to keep an eye on his status for the opener, Dec. 23 against the Hornets.
Dec 13, 2020
Listed out Monday
Sexton (ankle) is listed as out for Monday's preseason game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the opener, Sexton is on course to miss a second straight exhibition contest as he deals with a minor ankle issue. Darius Garland and rookie Isaac Okoro started in the backcourt during Saturday's opener.

Nursing ankle, out opener
Sexton will not play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Pacers due to a minor ankle injury, Sam Amico of fortyeightminutes.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's injury does not sound serious, as the Cavaliers are likely exercising caution with their young guard. The 22-year-old did not miss a game last season and was sidelined for just ten during his rookie campaign, so injuries have not been a concern in his young career. The former lottery pick is led the Cavaliers in scoring last year by pouring in 20.8 to go along with 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.5 triples across 33.0 minutes per game.

Scores game-high 26 in defeat
Sexton finished with 26 points (12-16 FG, 2-2 FT), five assists, three rebounds and one steal in 36 minutes during Tuesday's loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
While he may not have taken a single three-point attempt, Sexton came out hot in this one, scoring a game-high 26 points on an impressive 75 percent shooting. Over the last two months, Sexton has played at a top-60 level, producing per-game stats of 23.8 points, 3.9 assists, 2.3 triples and 1.0 steals, while shooting 49.0 percent from the field, and 86.4 percent from the line in that span prior to this gem. Both Darius Garland (groin) and Kevin Porter (concussion) have been sidelined over the last few games, giving Sexton some extra on-court opportunity, seeing his usage rate jump from 26.7 on the season to 32.0 over his previous three outings.

Cleans up at charity stripe
Sexton went for 26 points (8-19 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 9-11 FT) to go with four assists, one rebound and one steal across 39 minutes Sunday in the Cavaliers' 132-129 overtime win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's 11 free-throw attempts matched his season high, with the most crucial of his nine makes coming with three seconds remaining in regulation to briefly give the Cavs a two-point lead. The second-year guard has been on a nice offensive heater of late, pouring in 25 or more points in five of his last six outings while shooting 54 percent from the field and 45 percent from three-point range. As per usual, Sexton's numbers in the non-scoring categories have been somewhat lacking, so he'll continue to offer his most fantasy utility in points leagues rather than rotisserie formats.

Generates new career high
Sexton amassed 41 points (17-30 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six assists, three rebounds and one steal in 44 minutes in Wednesday's 112-106 loss versus the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
With Andre Drummond (calf), Tristan Thompson (knee) and Darius Garland (groin) all inactive, Sexton posted a new career high in the loss to the Celtics. Rookie Kevin Porter Jr. (head) was also forced to leave this game early, pushing Sexton to a season-high 44 minutes of work and a new career-high 30 shots from the field. It is unclear if any of these injured players will be available for Saturday's matchup versus the Nuggets, but if either Garland or Porter Jr. are forced to sit, expect a heavy dose of Sexton once again as the Cavaliers' main guard.

Career-best scoring night Monday
Sexton scored a career-high 32 points (11-17 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 6-8 FT) while adding five rebounds, three assists and three steals in 39 minutes during Monday's 126-113 loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
With the Cleveland roster effectively down to seven rotation players due to multiple injuries, Sexton stepped up and did his best to keep his squad in the game. The second-year guard has been remarkably consistent for the Cavs, scoring in double digits in 32 straight games, and since the beginning of February he's averaging a strong 22.8 points, 4.0 assists, 2.7 threes, 2.5 boards and 1.1 steals.

Dishes out four dimes
Sexton notched 16 points (7-16 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four assists and three rebounds in 37 minutes during Saturday's 113-104 loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Most of Sexton's value has been tied to what he can do scoring the rock, but he has improved on his versatility over the last few weeks and has made strides as a playmaker of late. He has averaged 4.1 assists per game in 11 February contests to go along with 21.9 points while shooting an impressive 48.3 percent from three-point range.
Feb 29, 2020
Ties career-high with 31 points
Sexton tallied 31 points (11-20 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 3-5 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 37 minutes during Friday's 116-104 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Sexton matched his career-high with 31 points but could not help the Cavaliers avoid the loss to a resurgent Pelicans outfit. He is putting together a nice season despite the teams' struggles, currently flirting with top-100 numbers in standard formats. The Scoring is obviously his trademark; however, he is quietly adding one steal per game.
Feb 26, 2020
Scores 28 against 76ers
Sexton provided 28 points (9-16 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 8-9 FT), two assists, two steals and one rebound in 36 minutes during Wednesday's 108-94 win over the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Sexton had another stellar night from a scoring perspective and also made a solid contribution in the steals column. He has been much better over the last two months than he was through October, November and December, and the sophomore guard really seems to be hitting his stride.
Feb 23, 2020
Nears double-double in loss
Sexton finished with 17 points (5-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 4-5 FT), nine assists, two rebounds and one steal in 33 minutes during Saturday's loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's efforts to get his teammates involved were encouraging, as the second-year guard's struggled to distribute all season. Though it's a small sample size, Sexton's averaging 5.7 assists per game over his past three contests and has played a pivotal role in both of the Cavaliers' wins during that stretch. If he can continue the recent trend, Sexton's value could tick up throughout the remainder of the year.
Feb 13, 2020
Hits for 23 in win
Sexton scored 23 points (7-17 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 8-9 FT) while adding six assists, two rebounds and a steal in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 127-105 win over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Just named to the Rising Stars game during All-Star Weekend in place of the Heat's Tyler Herro (foot), Sexton celebrated by scoring 20 or more points for the eighth time in the last 10 games. The 21-year-old is averaging 22.8 points, 4.2 assists, 2.7 boards, 2.0 threes and 1.2 steals over that stretch, giving him plenty of momentum heading into the second half.
Feb 4, 2020
Drops 29 against Knicks
Sexton scored 29 points (11-22 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT) while adding seven assists, two rebounds and a steal in 40 minutes during Monday's 139-134 overtime loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
The second-year guard continues to roll, scoring at least 20 points for the fifth straight game. Since the beginning of January, Sexton has been arguably the Cavs' most reliable offensive contributor, averaging 23.1 points, 3.3 boards, 3.2 assists, 2.2 threes and 1.1 steals through 18 contests.
Jan 28, 2020
Scores 24 versus Pelicans
Sexton amassed 24 points (9-20 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block in 32 minutes during Tuesday's 125-111 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Sexton contributed across every category while scoring at least 20 for the 10th time through 15 games in January. He's in the midst of by far his best month thus far this season, and he'll look to finish it off on a high note during Thursday's tilt versus the Raptors.
Jan 23, 2020
Dials up 29 points, full line
Sexton went off for 29 points (10-15 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 7-7 FT), four rebounds, four assists and two steals in 37 minutes during Thursday's 124-112 loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Sexton was extremely efficient while turning in a well-rounded stat line and scoring at least 25 for the sixth time in the last 11 games. Having gone for 25-plus points only four times through his first 34 appearances this season, it's clear Sexton has raised his level of play of late. Moreover, he was averaging 35.0 minutes per game in January heading into this one after seeing no more than 30.8 per tilt in any prior month here in 2019-20.
Jan 21, 2020
Leads way with 17
Sexton accounted for 17 points (6-20 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block in 35 minutes during Monday's loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
While Sexton lead the Cavaliers in points, it was a forgettable game for the 20-year-old guard. He was unable to get much going from the field and halted his streak of 20-plus point performances at three. While Sexton's offered value as a scorer this season with his average of 19.1 points per game, he continues to be unable to provide much in the way of secondary statistical production. His averages of 3.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 threes and 0.9 steals per game leave a lot to be desired for fantasy owners.
Jan 19, 2020
Tops 20-point mark once again
Sexton had 26 points (10-17 FG, 4-6 3PT, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes during Saturday's 118-116 loss at Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has scored 25 or more points in four of his last five games, and he has made at least 10 shots in each of his last three contests. A volume scorer who can get buckets with ease, Sexton has been performing well of late and is averaging 22.9 points per game while shooting 47.3 percent from the field during January.
Jan 17, 2020
Game-high scorer in loss
Sexton amassed 28 points (11-25 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six assists and four rebounds in 37 minutes during Friday's 113-109 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Sexton matched his season-high with six assists, adding 28 points in another impressive offensive display. He has now scored at least 20 points in seven of his past nine games, a stretch that sees him putting up top-80 production. He has an uncanny knack of being able to get to the basket and the Cavaliers are going to roll with him most nights, even in the less competitive games.
Jan 12, 2020
Scores 25 points against Nuggets
Sexton had 25 points (9-18 FG, 4-7 3PT, 3-4 FT), three rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes during Saturday's 111-103 win at Denver.
ANALYSIS
Sexton has scored 20 or more points in seven of his last 10 games, and he is averaging 22.0 points per game while shooting 46.7 percent from the field during that stretch. He has settled as one of Cleveland's go-to guys on offense, and he should remain on that role Monday ahead of a tough away matchup at the Lakers.
Jan 9, 2020
Scores 19 in win
Sexton put up 19 points (9-19 FG, 1-2 3Pt) in a 115-112 overtime victory over the Pistons on Thursday, adding six rebounds, two steals, two blocks and one assist in 40 minutes of playing time.
ANALYSIS
Sexton's scoring has been solid over his previous eight outings, posting 22.0 points per game. He's also shot 83.8 percent from the line in that span. However, the lack of reliable supporting stats have held the 21-year old's value back. Putting up 3.1 boards, 2.3 assists and 0.9 threes per game on the season going into this contest, it's difficult to trust Sexton as anything more than a source of points.
