Mitchell will return to the second unit for Thursday's game against the Knicks.

Fox is expected to be back in action for the Kings' next game Thursday versus the Knicks, putting Mitchell in line to move back to the bench while seeing a steep reduction in playing time.

Mitchell will enter the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Pelicans with De'Aaron Fox (hamstring) unavailable, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.

Over six starts this season, Mitchell has compiled averages of 8.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.3 triples and 1.3 turnovers per contest on 46.7 percent shooting. He will draw a favorable matchup against New Orleans, but he's still more of a deep league option.

Mitchell finished with 15 points (6-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt), one rebound, four assists, one block and one steal in 33 minutes during Tuesday's 123-117 victory over the Thunder.

Mitchell was moderately productive Tuesday, sliding into the starting lineup with De'Aaron Fox ruled out due to a wrist injury. Although his numbers won't set the world on fire, this was actually one of Mitchell's best games of the season. Despite having started a handful of games thus far, he typically struggles to have any sort of tangible impact. Until Fox returns to action, Mitchell is at least worth a look in slightly deeper formats.

Mitchell finished with four points (2-3 FG), three rebounds, five assists and one steal in 18 minutes during Saturday's 117-110 loss to the Timberwolves.

Mitchell played fewer than 20 minutes for the 10th time in his past 11 games, serving up a giant plate of nothing. For a player known as an elite defensive stopper, Mitchell has been unable to translate that into tangible fantasy production. He is currently averaging just 0.5 steals per game for the season, a number that certainly won't get it done when it comes to fantasy value.

Mitchell supplied 19 points (7-8 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound and one steal in 20 minutes off the bench in Sunday's 132-119 win over the Spurs.

Mitchell's 19 points gave him his second-best total of the season and exceeded his scoring production from the previous four games combined. With the Kings having enjoyed better health than any team this season, Mitchell has rarely had the opportunity to seize hold of major minutes for an extended period of time, and he'll likely remain stuck in a limited bench role so long as all of De'Aaron Fox, Kevin Huerter and Malik Monk steer clear of long absences.

Mitchell (illness) is not on the injury report for Monday's game against the Hornets.

Mitchell sat out Friday against Detroit due to an illness, but after a pair of off days he looks to be recovered and is not included on the Kings' initial injury report for Monday's contest. The 2021 first-round pick has not been viable in most fantasy leagues this season. Over his last nine games, he's averaging just 5.7 points, 3.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 37.0 percent from the floor.

Mitchell is a late scratch for Friday's game against the Pistons due to an illness.

There was no indication until an hour and a half before tipoff that Mitchell was at risk of missing Friday's game. It will be his first absence of the season. In his stead, backup point guard minutes should be available for Matthew Dellavedova.

Mitchell will appear off the bench Tuesday versus the Sixers, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.

Mitchell seemed an obvious candidate to return to a bench role, with De'Aaron Fox cleared for a full workload Tuesday. Mitchell should see a slight dip in his workload as a result but shouldn't see a major change in his overall production.

Until he proves otherwise, Mitchell can safely be left on the waiver wire, even if he sticks in the starting lineup for any length of time.

With De'Aaron Fox (knee) returning to the starting five, Mitchell will resume a bench role. As a reserve, he's averaged 7.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 18.2 minutes.

With De'Aaron Fox (knee) sidelined, Mitchell will join the starting five as expected after recording 23 points, four rebounds and three steals in 31 minutes during Monday's win over the Hornets. Mitchell should continue to operate as the team's starting point guard going forward until Fox is able to return to the court.

Mitchell had easily his best game of the season Monday, shouldering more responsibility after D'Aaron Fox was ruled out early due to a knee injury. If Fox misses additional time, Mitchell is certainly a player to consider adding on a shirt-term basis. He won't be this good but should be able to do enough to have backend 12-team value.

Mitchell posted seven points (2-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal across 12 minutes during Thursday's 125-110 loss to the Grizzlies.

Mitchell played just 12 minutes in the loss, continuing what has been an underwhelming start to the season. At this point, he is simply too far down the pecking order to have any chance at putting up meaningful production. His defensive abilities have been well documented but unfortunately, they don't translate into fantasy value.

The Kings exercised their team option on Mitchell for the 2023-24 season, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.

Mitchell also has a team option for the 2024-25 season and will be a restricted free agent after the 2025-26 season. It should come as no surprise that the Kings have picked up Mitchell's option as they still have another two years of team control. The second-year guard averaged 11.5 points, 4.2 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 0.7 steals in 27.7 minutes over 75 games as a rookie in 2021-22.

Mitchell closed Sunday's 116-109 victory over the Suns with 18 points (5-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-8 FT), three rebounds, 15 assists and two blocks over 40 minutes.

While the Kings ended the season with both De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis out due to injuries, Fox's absence, in particular, opened the door for Mitchell to play huge minutes down the stretch. The Baylor product still has a ways to go as a shooter, but he's shown he can score and rack up assists in a hurry. Over the final 10 games, Mitchell averaged 10.0 assists per contest, topping out with 17 in a win over the Pelicans on Tuesday.

Mitchell closed with 22 points (10-18 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and seven assists over 38 minutes during Saturday's 117-98 loss to the Clippers.

Mitchell has played effectively in De'Aaron Fox's (hand) absence and has been one of the most prolific rookies in the league as the season draws to a close. Mitchell will likely finish out the season as the starting point guard against the top-seeded Suns in the season finale, although Fox's status mya upgraded before tip-off.

Mitchell recorded 15 points (6-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and 17 assists over 40 minutes during Tuesday's 123-109 loss to New Orleans.

Mitchell blew out his previous season-high in assists. This comes after coach Alvin Gentry said he was going to reduce Mitchell's minutes to end the season. Despite that claim, Mitchell logged 40 minutes and produced the gigantic assist total in the process.

Mitchell will have his minutes reduced during the final three games of the season, Franklin Cartoscelli of Sports 1140 KHTK reports.

Coach Alvin Gentry adds that he's been playing the rookie too much over the past couple weeks. Since he became a starter March 18, Mitchell has averaged 19.0 points, 7.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 40.1 minutes. A reduction in minutes for Mitchell could mean increased minutes for Donte DiVincenzo, Josh Jackson and Jeremy Lamb.

Mitchell chipped in nine points (4-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, nine assists and one steal across 38 minutes during Sunday's 109-90 loss to the Warriors.

The game got away from the Kings early on, and while they were able to briefly mount a fourth-quarter comeback, they ultimately came up short of what would've been a third straight win. Mitchell didn't offer a ton as a scorer, but he continues to flash some impressive potential as a distributor. He's now handed out at least seven assists in seven straight games and is averaging 8.7 dimes per contest during that stretch.

Mitchell ended with 11 points (3-13 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-6 FT), two rebounds, 10 assists, one block and one steal in 39 minutes during Friday's 122-117 victory over Houston.

Mitchell might have recorded his first double-double of the season while posting a career-high mark in assists, but he struggled badly from the floor and ended up with more field goal attempts (13) than points scored (11). The rookie out of Baylor has settled in well as a starter with De'Aaron Fox (hand) sidelined, as he has averaged 20.4 points and 7.7 assists per game since jumping into the starting lineup seven games ago.

Mitchell provided 24 points (11-22 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, eight assists, one block and one steal in 39 minutes during Wednesday's 121-118 victory over the Rockets.

Mitchell ended just two dimes away from posting a double-double, but there's no question he was one of the Kings' best players in this tight win. The point guard has embraced a bigger role following the trade of Tyrese Haliburton and De'Aaron Fox's hand injury and that should translate into a bigger upside than in regular conditions. For what it's worth, he's started the last six games and has reached the 20-point mark in each of the last five.

Mitchell supplied 21 points (9-19 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, nine assists, one block and one steal in 41 minutes during Monday's 123-100 loss to the Heat.

Mitchell finished with at least 20 points, nine assists, one steal and one block for a second consecutive contest. The rookie has drawn five straight starts with De'Aaron Fox (hand) sidelined, and during that stretch, he's averaged 21.6 points, 7.2 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 41.0 minutes per game. As long as Fox remains out, Mitchell figures to continue putting up strong numbers during a critical point of the fantasy season.

Mitchell notched 22 points (10-23 FG, 2-8 3Pt), seven rebounds, nine assists, one block and one steal over 45 minutes during Saturday's 114-110 overtime victory over the Magic.

With De'Aaron Fox (hand) sidelined for a fourth straight game, Mitchell got another start and led all scorers. The rookie has fired up more than 20 points in three straight contests and scored in double digits in seven straight, averaging 19.4 points, 5.0 assists, 2.7 boards, 2.3 threes and 1.0 steals over the latter stretch.

Mitchell posted 25 points (10-15 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound, seven assists and one steal across 38 minutes during Wednesday's 110-109 win over the Pacers.

Mitchell won a thriller in a duel against his former backcourt mate Tyrese Haliburton. In an equally significant duel, Mitchell matched the also-dealt Buddy Hield with 25 points to co-lead the game in scoring. Mitchell has had back-to-back 25-plus point performances and his stock is rising. The 23-year-old is a boom candidate against the Magic on Saturday.

Mitchell logged 28 points (9-22 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, nine assists and one steal across 46 minutes during Sunday's 127-124 overtime loss to the Suns.

Mitchell didn't have his best shooting effort, as he needed 22 shots just to score 28 points, but he thrived in other categories and ended just one assist away from posting what would've been his first double-double of the season. Mitchell has played mostly off the bench this season, but he should remain in the starting unit until De'Aaron Fox (hand) is able to return.

Mitchell accumulated 12 points (5-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, two assists, one block and one steal in 35 minutes during Friday's 126-97 loss to the Celtics.

The rookie got the start with De'Aaron Fox (hand) sidelined, and while he saw his most minutes in well over a month, it wasn't a banner night. Still, Mitchell has now scored in double figures in four straight games, and he's shooting an encouraging 49.1 percent from the floor during that span.

Mitchell is starting Friday's game against the Celtics, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.

The 23-year-old will make his first start since Feb. 8 with De'Aaron Fox (hand) unavailable against Boston. Mitchell has scored in double figures in four of his last five appearances.

The rookie guard has picked up his scoring of late, notching double-digit points in four of five contests after failing to do so in five of his previous six games. Mitchell is averaging 10.2 points, 3.3 assists, 2.2 boards and 1.3 three-pointers on the season.

Mitchell contributed 10 points (4-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-3 FT), two rebounds and three assists over 30 minutes during Monday's 131-115 loss to the Knicks.

Mitchell logged the most minutes among Sacramento's reserves, but he put forth a relatively muted effort in the loss. That has been the norm for the rookie of late -- he came into the contest averaging 22.8 minutes but just 7.3 points and 2.3 assists over his past four contests. Mitchell has shown some flashes of excellence this season, but he's not playing well enough right now to warrant a roster spot in most fantasy leagues.

Mitchell finished with seven points (3-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Thursday's 128-110 loss to the Nuggets.

Mitchell missed Sacramento's previous contest with a sore right hand, but the All-Star break provided enough time for him to recover. However, the rookie struggled with his shot against Denver, missing all four of his three-point attempts and going 3-for-10 from the field overall. Mitchell did see 30 minutes off the bench, which is a positive sign for his playing time moving forward. He averaged 26.0 minutes over 54 games prior to the break.

Mitchell (hand) is no longer listed on the injury report ahead of Thursday's game against the Nuggets.

Mitchell went through a full practice Tuesday and Wednesday, so the writing was on the wall, but his removal from the report officially signals his return from the hand injury that kept him out of the Kings' final game before the break. While he may continue to come off the bench behind Justin Holiday and De'Aaron Fox, Mitchell figures to continue to play a key role for the Kings down the stretch. He'll face some competition for minutes from deadline arrival Donte DiVincenzo, however.

While De'Aaron Fox returned from an ankle injury, the Kings shipped out Tyrese Haliburton on Tuesday, which should clear the way for Mitchell to start alongside Fox going forward. It's possible, however, that the Kings may not be done making moves ahead of Thursday's trade deadline.

Mitchell finished Wednesday's 112-101 win over the Nets with 18 points (8-19 FG, 2-8 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists and one steal over 35 minutes.

Mitchell was the direct replacement for De'Aaron Fox (ankle) in the lineup, and the talented rookie came through with one of his better performances this season. His 19 shot attempts marked his highest shot volume of the season, and although he failed to get anything going from three-point range, his increased opportunity helped him reach a respectable fantasy total. Mitchell's output should remain high during Fox's absence.

Mitchell closed Monday's 116-96 loss to New York with 18 points (8-17 FG, 2-7 3Pt), one rebound, six assists and two blocks in 34 minutes.

Mitchell got the start for the third straight game as the Kings continue to operate without De'Aaron Fox (ankle). Mitchell has been impressive during the three-game stretch, averaging 17.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 3.0 three-pointers per contest. He'll almost certainly see a reduced role whenever Fox returns, though it's unclear how long the star point guard will be out at this point.

Mitchell totaled 20 points (8-17 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 0-1 FT), two rebounds and six assists across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 121-104 loss to Atlanta.

With De'Aaron Fox (ankle) and Terence Davis (wrist) out, Mitchell drew his first start since Dec. 15 and just the second of his career. The rookie scored 20-plus points for the third time this season and dished out five-plus assists for the 10th time. However, it was Mitchell's first outing with at least 20 points and five assists in the same game. Davis is expected to be sidelined for an extended period, but Fox may be back soon, so Mitchell's expanded role may be diminished sooner rather than later.

The crowded Sacramento backcourt makes the 23-year-old Mitchell an odd man out, but with Tyrese Haliburton entering COVID-19 protocols Sunday, Mitchell is streamable in deeper leagues over the next week.

Mitchell is averaging 9.4 points, 3.4 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 three-pointers in 23 games thus far.

Mitchell had plenty of playing time off the bench in Sunday's loss, and he scored in double figures for the second time in the last three games. During that time, he's averaged 10.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 26.0 minutes per contest.

Mitchell posted five points (2-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 0-2 FT), four rebounds and four assists across 26 minutes during Friday's 108-89 loss to the Raptors.

Mitchell fumbled his way through 26 minutes of sub-par basketball Friday as the Kings succumbed to the Raptors. It's been an indifferent start to Mitchell's career, flashing his defensive upside while also battling to be a consistent offensive producer. The trajectory of the team is likely going to impact his fantasy value as we progress through the season. If they are to fall out of the playoff race, there is a chance his role increases, at which time he could at least move into the standard league discussion.

Mitchell closed with 13 points (6-16 FG, 1-8 3Pt), three rebounds and six assists across 26 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 136-117 loss to San Antonio.

Mitchell scored 22 points in his third game of the season and while many believed that was just an outlier, the rookie has begun to turn heads with his play of late. He has scored in double digits in five of his last six contests and is flashing enough offensive upside to become a streaming pick in most formats, especially if Tyrese Haliburton (back) remains out.

Mitchell is averaging 12.6 points, 4.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 28.0 minutes across the past five games.

The rookie quickly became a staple of coach Luke Walton's rotation. He's a defender first, but he's shown offensive upside lately. Unfortunately, his defensive skill doesn't translate to steals and blocks, so fantasy managers aren't getting a bump there. Still, he's worth a flier in deeper leagues.

Mitchell is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason finale, Franklin Cartoscelli of Sports 1140 KHTK reports.

The rookie out of Baylor came off the bench while De'Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton occupied the two starting guard spots. This is likely the role in which Mitchell will begin the season, but it's possible the Kings could experiment with some three-guard lineups throughout the year. While Mitchell is undersized, he enters the league with a sterling reputation on the defensive end. He may not be drafted in many season-long leagues, but Mitchell is a name to monitor over the first few weeks of the season.

Mitchell was named Co-MVP of the 2021 NBA Summer League along with the Nets' Cameron Thomas, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

The Kings won the Summer League championship, and Mitchell showed off his impressive two-way ability. His numbers -- 10.8 points, 5.8 assists, 1.4 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 24.8 minutes -- weren't especially gaudy, but he demonstrated what he's capable of in terms of fueling wins. Heading into 2021-22, Mitchell should be a strong option off the bench for Sacramento, though the team isn't exactly short on guards with De'Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton.
