Melton closed Wednesday's 116-91 win over the Bulls with 25 points (8-16 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one block and three steals across 33 minutes.

Melton got off to a solid start with 11 first-half points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. He remained efficient all around after the break, chipping in another 14 points to go along with four rebounds and a game-high three steals. The shooting guard also led the contest in scoring with 25 points on the night while starting in place of the injured James Harden (Achilles) and he's now scored in double figures in three straight.

Melton will enter the first five for Wednesday's game against the Bulls.

The fifth-year guard has been a terror on the defensive end lately, racking up 10 steals in the last two games alone. Melton has been bouncing between the first and second units in March and his playing time can be erratic, but on the month he's producing his usual numbers, averaging 9.9 points, 4.6 boards, 2.5 assists, 2.2 threes and 1.8 steals over 11 games.

Melton isn't starting Monday's game against Chicago.

Melton drew a spot start Saturday with James Harden (rest) unavailable, but the former will head back to a reserve role Monday. Across 15 appearances off the bench this season, Melton has averaged 7.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals in 20.9 minutes.

Melton failed to score for the first time since Feb. 23. His playing time has dipped slightly since Tyrese Maxey replaced him in the starting lineup. Melton is averaging 23.0 minutes per game since moving to the bench, compared to 29.8 as a starter.

Melton posted 10 points (3-5 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, four assists and two blocks across 21 minutes during Sunday's 112-93 victory over the Wizards.

Melton led the Philadelphia bench in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and minutes played in Sunday's victory, also notching a team-high-tying mark from three in 21 minutes. Melton has tallied at least 10 points and five rebounds on 13 occasions, including in two of his last three appearances. 

Melton isn't starting Friday's game against the Trail Blazers.

After being dropped in a number of formats due to his recent lack of production, managers may want to consider snapping him up to see if he can build some momentum moving forward.

It's too early to overreact, but fantasy managers should definitely monitor how head coach Doc Rivers decides to distribute playing time to Melton and Maxey moving forward.

Melton recorded 17 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), two rebounds and four assists over 34 minutes during Wednesday's 118-112 win over Cleveland.

Melton bounced back following three straight outings in which he didn't score more than five points, and even though he seems to be quite inconsistent with his scoring figures of late, his role as a starter seems to be set in stone as head coach Doc Rivers prefers to keep Tyrese Maxey as the primary scoring option in the second unit rather than pairing him with James Harden and Joel Embiid at the same time. Melton is averaging 8.4 points per game while shooting 44.8 percent from three-point range across eight February contests.

Melton totaled 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists and one steal across 33 minutes during Wednesday's 106-99 loss to the Celtics.

Joel Embiid and James Harden carried the 76ers in this loss, but Melton still posted a solid fantasy stat line after showing efficiency from the field and solid numbers in peripheral stats. He's trending in the right direction after scoring in double digits in six of the Sixers' last eight games, a span in which he's averaging 12.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals across 27.5 minutes per contest.

Melton closed Friday's 137-125 victory over San Antonio with 13 points (4-7 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, one assist, one block and two steals over 22 minutes.

Melton has seen his minutes decline in recent games with the 76ers back at full strength, but his ability to contribute across the stat sheet will help to keep his fantasy value afloat. Whenever the 76ers lose a key player for rest or an injury, it's usually Melton who gets the biggest bump which helps his case in fantasy too.

Melton finished with three points (1-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt) and three rebounds in 20 minutes during Wednesday's 105-94 victory over Orlando.

Melton is hit-or-miss offensively, especially with the 76ers healthy in the backcourt, but Wednesday's effort was especially poor. His lack of assists or defensive stats compounded the issue, making the performance one of his worst of the season. There's no reason for fantasy managers to panic, as this is the first time since Jan. 12 that Melton has failed to record a steal or block. The guard will have a chance to bounce back against a soft opponent in the Spurs on Friday.

Melton logged 19 points (7-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal across 34 minutes during Wednesday's 137-133 win over the Nets.

Melton was quiet on the scoreboard for most of January, but he's now scored in double figures in back-to-back matchups. He also racked up a season-high three blocks Wednesday after tallying three steals Saturday against the Kings. Over his six appearances since returning to the starting lineup, he's averaged 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in 28.2 minutes per game.

Melton finished with 14 points (4-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block in 31 minutes in Saturday's 129-127 win over the Kings.

While James Harden (foot) and Joel Embiid (foot) were out of the lineup, Melton was one of several 76ers players who noticed a boost in playing time and overall production. Because of his defensive versatility, Melton looks as though he'll stick in the starting five over Tyrese Maxey when both Harden and Embiid are available, but that won't guarantee Melton lasting fantasy value. In his previous four starts alongside Harden and Embiid, Melton sported usage rates ranging between 6.6 and 12.1 percent and averaged just 4.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 three-pointers in 26.0 minutes.

Melton (illness) is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Clippers, Austin Krell of USA Today reports.

Melton has been upgraded from probable to available Tuesday due to a non-COVID illness. The 24-year-old guard is averaging 4.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 23.4 minutes across his last five games.

Melton moved back into the starting lineup Saturday after Tobias Harris was ruled out with a knee injury. While he was quite passive on the offensive end, he chipped in across multiple categories, including five defensive counters. He is slated to come off the bench on most nights, which limits his overall appeal. However, if any of the starters are ever ruled out, much like tonight, Melton basically becomes a must-roster player.

Melton will join the starting five for Saturday's meeting with Utah, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Melton remained in the starting lineup despite the return of Tyrese Maxey, finishing with a balanced performance. Maxey is likely to be eased back into things after missing significant time with a foot injury, meaning Melton should be able to maintain 12-team value for at least the next week or two. Beyond that, managers would be well advised to take a wait-and-see approach before simply cutting him given his ability to contribute, even in limited minutes.

Melton posted eight points (3-14 FG, 2-11 3Pt), seven rebounds, one assist and one steal over 41 minutes during Monday's 104-101 overtime victory over the Raptors.

Melton submitted his worst offensive performance since a Nov. 13 appearance off the bench. He did grab at least seven rebounds for just the sixth time this year, but his overall production left fantasy mangers wanting more, especially after his recent string of success. Coming into the contest, Melton was averaging 15.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.8 steals over his last 13 appearances, so look for him to get back on track Wednesday against the Pistons.

Melton ended Friday's 118-106 victory over the Warriors with 17 points (7-14 FG, 3-8 3Pt), nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals across 38 minutes.

Melton had an excellent game on both ends of the court for the Sixers, and he has been producing at a high level since jumping to the starting unit. He has now scored at least 12 points in four of his last five outings, but he has supplemented that with solid numbers in categories such as passing, rebounding and steals. He's averaging 16.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.4 steals per game over his last five contests.

Melton (back) wasn't included on the injury report for Friday's game versus the Warriors, Justin Grasso of SI.com reports.

Thus, Melton should return to the floor and likely the starting five, presumably sending Matisse Thybulle back to the bench. Melton has proven to be a valuable player in fantasy lineups this season, checking in inside the top 60 for per-game and per-36 fantasy production.

Melton was hot to start the game, going 4-of-5 from the field with 13 points in the first quarter before missing all five of his shots in the second quarter. He added another seven points in the second half on 3-of-8 shooting to give him 20 on the night, his second game in a row reaching the 20-point mark after previously failing to do so all season. Melton also recorded four steals in the contest, all of which came in the first half to help the Sixers jump out to an early lead. It was his third game this season with four or more steals while he's grabbed six or more rebounds in five of his last seven.

Melton notched 22 points (7-16 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one block and three steals across 32 minutes during Tuesday's 115-106 win over Brooklyn.

Melton scored 18 of his 22 points from beyond the arc and set a new season best with six made triples in the victory. Melton continues to serve as one of the focal points of the offense with Joel Embiid (foot), James Harden (foot) and Tyrese Maxey (foot) still out with injuries. The USC product has scored in double figures in three straight games while also stuffing the stat sheet along the way.

Melton contributed 10 points (3-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and six assists over 36 minutes during Friday's 110-102 win over the Bucks.

Melton started against the Bucks following his appearance off the bench against the Jazz on Nov. 13, and he left his mark on both ends of the court even when his shooting continues to be subpar. He's making just 31.1 percent of his shots and 29.2 percent of his three-point attempts across five appearances in November, but he should remain in the starting unit going forward, especially with names such as James Harden (foot) and Tobias Harris (hip) dealing with injuries.

Melton is available for Sunday's game against Utah but will not start.

Managers had hoped that the move away from Memphis would open the door for Melton to realize his potential. Unfortunately, that has not been the case, and barring a major shift in team philosophy, he can probably be dropped in most competitive formats.

If this remains the case heading into the season proper, it only adds to his upside, making him a viable target in the later rounds of drafts.

Assuming the Sixers' roster remains relatively intact, Melton will primarily compete for minutes at both guard spots with Tyrese Maxey, Shake Milton, Furkan Korkmaz and Matisse Thybulle.

After picking up a pair of DNP-CDs to conclude the Grizzlies' Round 1 series against Minnesota, Melton was thrust back into the rotation for a much larger role Sunday. His 25 minutes established a new playoff career high, as coach Taylor Jenkins rolled with Melton for long stretches instead of Tyus Jones, who saw only 12 minutes of action. The absence of Ziaire Williams (knee) may have also been a factor, though Williams was unavailable for Game 6 against Minnesota when Melton did not see the floor. How the minutes break down between Melton and Jones, in particular, will be worth monitoring as the series progresses.

Melton continues to be one of the better late-season fantasy adds, as he's up to 17.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 3.9 three-pointers per game over his last 10 appearances.

Melton has opened just one game on the court since starting in his first 12 appearances of the season, but he will start Friday with all of Ja Morant (knee), Tyus Jones (hand) and Desmond Bane (ankle) unavailable.

Melton was solid off the bench again for Memphis, tallying the second-highest point total on the team behind Desmond Bane. Melton has scored at least 20 points in three of his last four appearances following a 24-game stretch during which he didn't hit the 20-point mark a single time.

Melton had 23 points (8-13 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds and one assist across 27 minutes during Wednesday's 132-120 victory over Brooklyn.

Ja Morant (knee) has missed three of the past four games, and Melton has come off the bench and scored in double figures in each of those contests, including notching a season-high 23 points on Wednesday. Over his last four games, the fourth-year wing is shooting 57.7 percent from three on 6.5 attempts per game. Melton will look to stay hot against the Pacers Thursday.

Melton saw extended run due to Ja Morant's (back) absence and the blowout win, leading to a strong performance. He matched his season-high six assists and came up just four points shy of matching his season high, so it was one of his better all-around efforts of the campaign, especially when factoring in the three steals.

Melton finished with nine points (4-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt), four assists, four rebounds, three steals and one block across 24 minutes in Saturday's 124-96 win over the Magic.

Melton has now recorded at least one steal in 12 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the NBA. Though he doesn't have a path to more playing time while the Grizzlies are at close to full strength in the backcourt -- save for Dillon Brooks (ankle), who could return during the upcoming week -- Melton has put himself on the radar in 12-team leagues based on his recent play. Since the beginning of February, Melton is getting only 21.4 minutes per game over 12 outings, but he's chipped in across the board with averages of 10.8 points, 5.1 boards, 2.5 assists, 1.9 three-pointers, 1.8 steals and 0.4 blocks.

Melton provided 12 points (3-9 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, six assists and one steal over 22 minutes during Thursday's 119-114 loss to the Timberwolves.

Melton scored in double figures for the fifth time over his last eight appearances and dished out a season-high six assists, a mark he's reached five times. In February, the backup wing has averaged 11.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 21.0 minutes per game.

Melton supplied 13 points (5-11 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block across 22 minutes Tuesday in the Grizzlies' 121-109 win over the Pelicans.

The absence of Ja Morant (ankle) may have played a small factor in Melton clearing 20 minutes, but Tyus Jones was the main beneficiary while moving into the starting five. Even if Morant doesn't miss any additional time beyond Tuesday, Melton has managed to put himself on the radar in 12-team leagues through his play of late, despite continuing to handle a relatively limited role. Through six games in February, Melton is averaging 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.3 three-pointers and 1.7 steals in 21.5 minutes per contest.

Melton totaled nine points (2-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and three steals across 16 minutes during Saturday's 125-118 victory over Charlotte.

Melton continues to prove that he doesn't need big minutes to provide well-rounded fantasy contributions. Over his last five games, he's posting 11.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.8 threes in just 21.4 minutes. The steals, in particular, are what fantasy managers are after. Melton's numbers should be sustainable for now, but he'll likely lose some minutes once Dillon Brooks (ankle) is back in the mix in early March.

Melton finished with 16 points (6-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt), 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal over 22 minutes during Saturday's 135-115 win over the Magic.

Melton posted his first double-double of the season in a reserve role. The USC product helped the Grizzlies to shoot over 50 percent in the contest and drained four three-pointers in the win.

Melton generated 13 points (5-18 FG, 3-8 3Pt), seven rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block across 27 minutes Saturday in the Grizzlies' 115-95 win over the Wizards.

Even with Kyle Anderson (COVID-19 protocols) making his return from a multi-game absence, Melton was able to maintain an elevated role, as he cleared 24 minutes for the fifth game in a row. Over that stretch, Melton has produced at a high level, averaging 13.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.8 three-pointers. He's shooting just 37.5 percent from the field during that span, however, so he could be in store for some reduction in playing time if Tyus Jones (COVID-19 protocols) is cleared to rejoin the backcourt rotation Monday in Philadelphia.

Melton contributed 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-6 3Pt), nine rebounds, six assists, one block and two steals across 28 minutes during Friday's 119-109 win over Utah.

Melton came off the bench once again during Friday's matchup, but he scored in double figures for the fourth time in the last six games while finishing with the second-most assists on the team. Across his last six appearances, the 23-year-old has averaged 11.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 23.7 minutes per game.

Melton amassed 12 points (5-16 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, five assists, one block and three steals over 31 minutes during Sunday's 104-91 loss to the Mavericks.

With Tyus Jones and Desmond Bane both in COVID-19 protocols, Melton continues to see an increased role off the bench. Over his last four games, he has averaged 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 22.5 minutes. As long as the aforementioned regulars remain out, Melton is set to continue seeing increased playing time and usage. With that said, Jones and Bane will likely both be back at some point during the Grizzlies' upcoming three-game week.

Melton racked up eight points (2-12 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals across 23 minutes during Saturday's 123-108 victory over the Clippers.

Melton has always shown the ability to stuff the stat sheet in limited minutes, and Saturday's effort was the perfect example. Notably, it was Melton's 13th straight game with at least one steal, and he set a new season high with 11 boards while matching his season-high six dimes. Once Ja Morant (thigh) returns, Melton's usage should normalize, however.

Melton racked up four points (1-7 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, six assists, two blocks and one steal across 21 minutes during Thursday's 118-88 win over Detroit.

Melton had missed the Grizzlies' previous six games while in COVID protocols, and he appeared rusty offensively in his return. The backup guard knocked down only one of seven field-goal attempts, and he committed four turnovers in just 21 minutes. On a much more positive note, Melton racked up eight boards, six dimes, two blocks and a steal, so he still found a way to contribute despite the off-shooting night. Though he ranks 10th in the league with 1.6 steals per contest on the campaign, Melton has been too inconsistent offensively to be more than a low-end fantasy asset.

Melton is available for Thursday's matchup with the Pistons.

Melton will make his return from health and safety protocols after missing the previous six games. The 23-year-old averaged 11.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in the five games prior to his absence.

Melton (COVID-19 protocols) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Pistons.

Melton hasn't played since Dec. 23, but he could return if he clears protocols and doesn't have conditioning issues. In December, he averaged 11.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.9 steals in 23.0 minutes.

Melton was placed in the NBA's health and safety protocols Sunday.

Melton was one of three Grizzlies who entered the league's COVID-19 protocols Sunday, joining Dillon Brooks and Yves Pons. Melton has been the team's top option off the bench, averaging 10 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals in 21.7 minutes per game since he permanently left the starting five Nov. 15. His absence will leave the Grizzlies very shorthanded in the backcourt, as they are also without Zaire Williams (ankle) and Jarrett Culver (Covid-19).

Melton notched 20 points (8-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals in 25 minutes during Thursday's 113-104 loss to Golden State.

Melton had his first 20-point performance since his Oct. 30 start against the Heat, and he came up just two points shy of his season high. He also continued his impressive defensive efforts. Thursday's game marked his sixth straight game with at least one steal and one block. During this span, he's averaging 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in 22.2 minutes.

Melton accumulated nine points (3-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals across 23 minutes during Sunday's 105-100 loss to Portland.

Melton managed to contribute across the board in the loss, continuing to tease us with his fantasy upside. With Ja Morant remaining on the shelf, Melton has been able to push himself into the standard league conversation once again. His minutes remain frustratingly low but even then, he still does enough on most nights to be a pretty firm hold, at least until we get word that Morant is nearing a return.

Melton logged 12 points (4-9 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, six assists and two steals over 29 minutes during Thursday's 108-95 victory over Los Angeles.

Dillon Brooks was moved into COVID-19 protocols prior to the game, resulting in Melton's first start since Nov. 12. He was unspectacular but solid in the role, tying for the team lead in assists and chipping in as a scorer, rebounder and defender. Melton is playing a career-high 24.9 minutes this season, which he has parlayed into 10.4 points, 4.2 boards, 2.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.9 three-pointers per contest. While those numbers don't scream fantasy relevance, he has shown enough to be a decent short-term pickup for as long as Brooks remains out.

Melton is in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Lakers.

Melton will enter the starting lineup for the first time since Nov. 12 after Dillon Brooks was a late scratch due to COVID-19 protocol. Melton started the first 12 games of the season, averaging 11.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals in 27.8 minutes per game. He could remain in the starting lineup in the short term depending on how many games Brooks has to miss.

With Ja Morant (knee/COVID-19 protocols) unavailable, Melton continues to function as the first guard off the bench behind starters Tyus Jones and Desmond Bane. The role has led him to 20-to-26 minutes on most nights, and while fantasy managers would of course prefer that he play a bit more, Melton is averaging 1.6 steals and 2.0 threes since Morant went down, so he's still worth keeping a close eye on in most season-long leagues.

Melton somehow managed to lead all Grizzlies in rebounds despite limited playing time. Truly maximizing his time, he also led the second unit in scoring and shots attempted. Fully usurped by Desmond Bane (23 points), Melton embodies a shell of his early-season usage. He'll need to pass Tyus Jones in the backcourt totem pole to warrant fantasy roster consideration.

Melton (groin) is good to go for Friday's matchup with the Hawks, Evan Barnes of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Melton has been sidelined for the last three games due to groin soreness. He was originally expected to miss a few more games before getting upgraded to questionable Thursday evening. The team could still opt to ease him back into the swing of things, but he will be available for the Grizzlies.

Considering the Grizzlies expected Melton to sit out multiple more games because of groin soreness, his recent injury update is welcome news. He will have a little more than 20 hours before an upcoming Hawks-Grizzlies game at Memphis scheduled Friday.

Melton has already been ruled out for Monday's matchup, and it sounds as though he'll remain sidelined for a few more contests before getting the green light. The team should provide an update on the USC product's status as he closes in on a return to action.

Melton (groin) is listed as out for Monday's game against the Jazz.

This will be the second straight absence for Melton, who was also held out of Saturday's embarrassing, 43-point loss to the Timberwolves. The USC product had a nice run of success to begin the season, but his production has waned in recent games with Dillon Brooks (hamstring) back from an early season injury absence. Set to miss at least one game to begin Week 6, Melton should probably be left on the bench in most season-long leagues.

With Dillon Brooks returning to the starting lineup, Melton shifted to the bench and did very little during his limited time on the floor. It's been a positive start to the season for Melton, but this was always the fear moving forward. Fantasy managers could give him another game or two before making any decisions regarding his viability. Although, based on what we have seen in the past, there is a very real possibility Melton simply doesn't see enough playing time on a regular basis to justify a permanent roster spot.

Melton recorded 19 points (7-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block during Monday's overtime victory over Minnesota.

Melton reached the 19-point mark for a fourth time, as the guard was second among Memphis starters in scoring while tying a team high with three threes. It was also Melton's sixth time in double figures, and he's currently on pace to shatter last season's mark of 22 games in double digits. Across 10 outings in 2021-22, Melton is shooting at least 40 percent from the field, 75 percent at the stripe and 38 percent from three.

Melton mustered 20 points (6-12 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five assists, three rebounds, three steals and a block across 27 minutes in Saturday's loss to Miami.

Melton had scored a combined seven points over his last two appearances, including a 116-96 defeat against the Blazers in which he went scoreless, but he bounced back admirably in this one with a strong output on both ends of the court. Melton has now scored at least 20 points in three of his six appearances this season.

Melton finished Saturday's 120-114 win over the Clippers with 22 points (9-16 FG, 4-8 3Pt), seven rebounds and two assists over 33 minutes.

Melton again got the start in place of the injured Dillon Brooks (hand/thigh) and notched his second straight performance of at least 20 points. His scoring output was second on the squad, and Melton also tied for second with seven boards. He is averaging 21.0 points, 5.5 boards and 4.0 three-pointers per game thus far, though he's likely to see a a dip in playing time when Brooks returns.

Melton finished Wednesday's season-opening win over the Cavaliers with 20 points (8-14 FG, 4-6 3Pt), four rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes of playing time.

Melton got the start in the season-opener in place of Dillon Brooks and put on a very impressive showing. The 23-year-old looks poised to improve upon his 2020-21 campaign where he averaged 9.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists. As Brooks will remain out for at least another week, Bane will continue trying to solidify a significant role with the team.

Melton will start Wednesday's season opener against the Cavaliers, Rob Fischer of Grind City Media reports.

After starting the first three preseason games in the absence of Dillon Brooks (thigh), Melton shifted to the bench Monday, even as Brooks remained sidelined. The move didn't seem to affect Melton, who led the bench in scoring and showed off why he's one of the league's best per-minute steal accumulators. In 52 games last season, Melton averaged 9.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 20.1 minutes.

Melton managed 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-6 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block in 19 minutes during Tuesday's 87-77 win over the Bucks. The game was suspended after the third quarter due to a fire alarm.

Melton got the start with Dillon Brooks (thigh) out, and the guard delivered a strong two-way performance. That's nothing out of the ordinary for Melton, who has averaged 3.0 combined steals-plus-blocks per 36 minutes over the past two seasons.

Melton finished with 15 points (5-9 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one block in 23 minutes during Monday's 120-113 loss to the Jazz.

Melton saw key minutes down the stretch for the Grizzlies as he turned in easily his best performance of the postseason. As has been the story all season long, Melton's lack of playing time continues to be a source of frustration for onlookers, especially given his proven ability to impact a game. It's anyone's guess as to what his role might look like on Wednesday and so those playing DFS should certainly not rely on this as a true indicator of what is to come.

Melton seems locked into a less than adequate role right now, and with the Grizzlies actually having a healthy roster to choose from, his opportunities are likely to be few and far between moving forward. Despite the fact he can typically produce in limited minutes, the uncertainty from one game to the next means he can be left on the waiver wire in competitive leagues.

Given the sample size, he presents as more of an elite stash at this point.

It appears that the second-year guard will miss a third straight contest, as Melton continues to recover from a left hand injury. Tyus Jones and Marko Guduric will presumably continue to see increased run Friday against New Orleans if indeed Melton is sidelined.

The Grizzlies indicated Melton's absence is precautionary, though the injury wasn't announced until after Tuesday's 8 p.m. ET tipoff. Marko Guduric is seeing some early run off the bench versus the Nuggets during the first quarter in his absence. Melton should be considered questionable for Wednesday's game against the Knicks until the team provides an update.

Melton scored 13 points (6-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 0-0 FT) while adding four rebounds, six assists and a block in 17 minutes off the bench during Friday's 134-121 win over the Spurs.

It was Melton's first game with double-digit points in his last four contests. He also turned in his largest assist total since December 4 against Chicago when he was credited with seven.

Melton (back) will be available for Wednesday's game against the Heat.

It appears Melton is ahead of schedule in his recovery. Still, it's possible the team takes it easy with him in his first game(s) back. He likely won't have much fantasy relevance outside of deep leagues.

Melton remains on the shelf as he works back from a stress reaction in his back, but he was able to get some shots up after practice with an assistant coach. There's a slight chance the guard could be back in time for opening night, but he'll likely be unavailable until sometime in early-to-mid-November.
