Nonetheless, there is certainly still value in Poeltl's steady situation.

He is finally locked in as a full-time starter and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Overall, it was a successful regular season for Poeltl, as he averaged a career-high 26.7 minutes per game, which in turn allowed him to produce at the highest levels of his career in nearly every statistic. Poeltl should be locked into the starting center role throughout the team's postseason run.

Poeltl (rest) is not listed on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Suns, RJ Marquez of KSAT 12 San Antonio reports.

Poeltl was rested in Saturday's game, but it looks like he'll return for the last game of the regular season Sunday. His return will likely mean fewer minutes for Drew Eubanks and Gorgui Dieng.

Poeltl's erratic production makes him a better option for DFS tournament play but his blocks still give him some season-long value, and over that eight-game stretch he's averaging 10.1 points, 7.0 boards, 2.6 assists and 2.0 rejections.

Poeltl (rest) is unavailable Sunday against the 76ers, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.

The 25-year-old will be sidelined for the front half of the back-to-back set, with DeMar DeRozan (rest) and Dejounte Murray (knee) also sitting for San Antonio. Poeltl should be back in the lineup Monday against the Jazz. Drew Eubanks and Gorgui Dieng should split work at center for the Spurs on Sunday.

Poeltl continued his dominance on the defensive end, recording multiple blocks in four of his last five contests. The center's consistency on the glass and on defense have made him a must-roster player in fantasy leagues. Poeltl has averaged 9.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.2 blocks across his last five games.

Poeltl totaled 17 points (6-8 FG, 5-6 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists and four blocks in 30 minutes during Thursday's 106-91 win over the Pistons.

Poeltl notched his first double-double since April 9. The 25-year-old also continued his block party by adding four Thursday night. He now has nine blocks over the last two games and is averaging 2.6 over the last eight -- he's also shooting 67.8 percent from the field over that stretch. Not only was the seven footer scoring efficiencently and protecting the rim, but he also dished out four assists.

Poeltl accumulated eight points (3-3 FG, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, five blocks, one assist and one steal in 29 minutes during Wednesday's 107-87 loss to the Heat.

Poeltl's breakout continued despite the loss, flirting with another double-double while adding five more blocks to his resume. While his scoring is far from a strong point, Poeltl's ability to rebound and block shots has made him a must-roster player across just about every format.

Poeltl collected 16 points (7-10 FG, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block in a 109-94 victory over the Pacers on Monday.

Poeltl sat out the second game of a back-to-back set Saturday but turned in a strong two-way performance in his return to the lineup Monday. The center has been very reliable as a rebounder, securing five-plus rebounds in all 37 of his starts this season. Poeltl has also blocked a shot in six consecutive contests and has averaged 11.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game over that stretch.

Poeltl will rest Saturday against the Suns.

Poeltl hasn't missed a game all season. He's started the past 33 games and has averaged 10.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.8 assists in 29.8 minutes. His absence will open up minutes for Gorgui Dieng and Drew Eubanks.

Poeltl has scored in double digits in eight of the Spurs' last 10 games, and he also has recorded five double-doubles during that stretch. Poeltl usually embraces a lesser role on offense when he's sharing the court with Dejounte Murray and DeMar DeRozan, but he was extremely effective in this contest. The four blocks also tied a season-high mark for the former Utah standout.

Poeltl tallied 13 points (6-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt), 10 rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in 36 minutes during Friday's 121-119 loss to Denver.

Poeltl had a nice bounceback game after two of his poorer performances, finishing with his 11th double-double of the season. The departure of LaMarcus Aldridge has opened up a mammoth amount of playing time for Poeltl, and he finally has the chance to show what he can do as a starting NBA center. The addition of Gorgui Dieng (shoulder) may cut into his playing time slightly, but, at this point, there is no reason he won't continue to be a must-roster asset the rest of the way.

Poeltl recorded 14 points (6-12 FG, 2-3 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots and two steals across 40 minutes in Saturday's 139-133 loss to that Pacers.

Poeltl gets more comfortable with his starting role with every passing game, and his surprisingly efficient lines are a saving grace for the Spurs, who desperately needed a larger presence in the frontcourt. In a matter of weeks, his fantasy stock has skyrocketed. A significant contributor of rebounds, Poeltl is a guy that might still be found on the waiver wire in shallow leagues.

Poeltl registered 14 points (6-8 FG, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot across 44 minutes in Thursday's 134-129 loss to the Hawks.

Poeltl fared surprisingly well against Clint Capela in the narrow double-overtime loss, and Thursday's stat line delivered the center's fifth-straight double-digit scoring total. While there's some variance in his production, his 7-1 frame creates a size-mismatch for several teams. The Spurs are doing much better than expected in the frontcourt since parting with LaMarcus Aldridge, and it's due to Poeltl's consistent presence.

Poeltl registered 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-6 FT), 14 rebounds, one assists, one steal and one block during Wednesday's win over the Kings.

The 25-year-old has now scored double-digit points in four games straight. Poeltl is averaging 12.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while shooting 68.4 percent from the field. The fifth-year center has been on a roll as of late and should continue providing elite rebounds, blocks and field-goal percentage along with decent points the rest of the way.

Poeltl had 17 points (8-11 FG, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, three blocks and two assists in 32 minutes during Monday's 132-115 loss to the Kings.

Poeltl had himself another strong outing despite the loss, affirming himself as a clear must-roster player across all fantasy formats. The Spurs recently signed Gorgui Dieng and while he is likely to come off the bench behind Poeltl, he could cut into his playing time somewhat. There is no real reason to panic but this is certainly a situation to monitor going forward.

Poeltl tallied 20 points (8-9 FG, 4-10 FT) nine rebounds, three blocks and one assist in 31 minutes during Saturday's 120-104 win over the Bulls.

The 25-year-old attempted a season-high 10 free throws as the Bulls were playing "Hack-a-Shaq" on the fifth-year center towards the end of the game. Before Saturday's game, Poeltl was averaging only 1.5 free-throw attempts per game this season. Poor free-throw shooting aside, he delivered another strong defensive effort with three blocks along with making eight of his nine attempts from the field. Poeltl is locked in as the starting center and should continue to provide elite field-goal percentage and blocks along with decent points and rebounds the rest of the way.

Poeltl notched 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-2 FT), eight rebounds and three blocks across 31 minutes in Thursday's loss against the Clippers.

Poeltl continues to play big minutes in the frontcourt due to the fact that LaMarcus Aldridge is set to be bought out, and he's now started 21 games in a row for San Antonio. He has five double-doubles in that stretch and, while he's probably never going to be a go-to player on offense, he can provide value on the glass and through defensive stats while also shooting the ball at an effective clip.

Poeltl contributed just four points (2-4 FG), 11 rebounds, four blocks and one assist in 26 minutes during Monday's 100-97 loss to the Hornets.

Poelt scored in single-digits for the third straight game but salvaged what could have been a disappointing night by matching his season-high with four blocks. With LaMarcus Aldridge on his way out of town, Poeltl has quickly become a must-roster player, although his limited fantasy strengths make him less appealing in certain team builds.

Poeltl registered eight points (4-8 FG), 12 rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal in 25 minutes during Friday's 116-110 win against the Cavaliers.

The 25-year-old has been on fire over his last three games, averaging 14.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks while shooting 69 percent from the field. Poeltl is one of the last big men standing in San Antonio after the Spurs agreed to part ways with LaMarcus Aldridge. He's locked into the starting lineup and should continue to play anywhere between 25-35 minutes per game while proving fantasy owners with elite blocks and field-goal percentage along with decent points and rebounds.

Poeltl totaled 20 points (9-11 FG, 2-5 FT), 16 rebounds, and one assist in a 106-99 victory over the Bulls on Wednesday.

Poeltl recorded his second consecutive double-double and really dominated the game, coming away with new season-high point and rebound totals. The center has taken advantage of his increased role of late, shooting an impressive 65.7 percent from the field in his first five games since the All-Star break. Poeltl isn't a huge part of the Spurs offense, but when he converts a high percentage of his shots like Wednesday he has the potential to put up pretty big numbers in his starting role.

Poeltl scored 14 points (6-8 FG, 2-3 FT) to go along with 12 rebounds, four blocks, two assists and one steal in a 109-99 victory over the Pistons on Monday.

Poeltl was able to pick up his fifth double-double of the season while also playing great defense and tying his season-high block total. The center had been struggling a bit of late despite seeing the majority of the team's minutes at center. Poeltl won't provide elite scoring, but he should contribute enough rebounds and blocked shots to be a reliable fantasy player for the rest of the season, barring any significant roster additions.

Poeltl collected just six points (2-3 FG, 2-2 FT) and five rebounds in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 115-104 loss to the Mavericks.

Poeltl turned in a highly underwhelming performance in the loss but those with a vested interest will simply have to give him a pass here. It was earlier announced that LaMarcus Aldridge's time with the Spurs has come to an end and so for the time being, Poeltl has two hands on the starting center position. Clearly, he is a must-roster player, despite this performance.

Poeltl collected 14 points (7-8 FG, 0-2 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 36 minutes during Monday's 124-113 loss to Brooklyn.

Poeltl appears to have locked up the starting center spot if today's playing time is anything to go by. Even though LaMarcus Aldridge has returned to the lineup, it has been Poeltl who continues to be the man in the middle. He is unlikely to explode on the offensive end but the rebounds, blocks and efficiency from the floor are more than enough to give him sustainable 12-team value moving forward.

Poeltl and the Spurs will not play Tuesday against the Pistons after the game was postponed, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

With COVID-19 contact tracing ongoing, Tuesday's game will be rescheduled for later in the season. For now, the Spurs' next game arrives Wednesday night in Cleveland, but depending on the results of the tracing, it's possible that game could also be in jeopardy.

Poeltl didn't miss a single shot from the field and also left his mark defensively, pacing the Spurs in rebounds, steals and blocks. This was Poeltl's second double-double over his last three starts, and he has delivered a few decent performances since moving to the starting lineup as the replacement of LaMarcus Aldridge (hip). Poeltl is averaging 10.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game over his last five appearances, all of them as a starter.

Poeltl recorded four points (2-4 FG), five rebounds and two blocks through 20 minutes in the 114-91 loss to Golden State on Tuesday.

Poeltl was given another shot with teammate LaMarcus Aldridge still out and he failed to deliver. The center had a big night only a day prior against the same team, but could not follow up that performance. Poeltl has been a great rotation player, but seems to be off and on when he receives the big role. He is terrific in deeper formats once Aldridge returns.

Poeltl registered 14 points (7-9 FG), 11 rebounds and four blocks across 30 minutes in Monday's win over the Warriors.

Poeltl has started three games in a row due to LaMarcus Aldridge's hip injury, but the European big man has made the most of his short-lived expanded role -- he has scored in double digits in two of those games while grabbing eight of more rebounds in each one of those contests. His upside moving forward will depend heavily on Aldridge's recovery, but Poeltl has proven to be a valuable asset when given enough minutes.

Poeltl provided two points (0-6 FG, 2-4 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist and one block across 29 minutes in Saturday's 111-106 win at Houston.

Poeltl shot poorly but made up for it by tying his rebounding high, which he coincidentally logged against the Rockets (11, Jan. 16). He has now averaged 8.0 points and 7.6 rebounds across five starts this season. Poeltl's fantasy production is serviceable, but his inconsistency makes him more of a liability than an asset.

Poeltl posted 19 points (9-10 FG, 1-3 FT), eight rebounds, four blocks, an assist and a steal across 34 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Timberwolves.

Poeltl got the start due to LaMarcus Aldridge's hip injury, and he responded to Gregg Popovich's trust with a season-best scoring output while also posting a season-high mark in blocks. As if that wasn't enough, Poeltl ended just one rebound away from putting up his second double-double of the campaign. Poeltl is expected to remain in the starting lineup with Aldridge set to face a multi-game absence, and that could translate into a slight bump on his fantasy value across most formats.

Poeltl will start in Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.

Poeltl will get his first start since Jan. 3 in place of LaMarcus Aldridge, who is out with a hip injury. So far this season, Poeltl has averaged 5.3 points and 6.2 rebounds across 20.1 minutes per game. He will be a strong candidate to continue starting as long as Aldridge remains sidelined.

As usual, Poeltl made an impact as a shot blocker during his time on the court, but his struggles at the free-throw line took away from some of his production on the defensive end. The center is now averaging 4.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 blocks in 20.3 minutes per game over the last six contests. He'll remain more of a streaming option than a roster-worthy player in 12-team leagues, unless the Spurs decide to scale back LaMarcus Aldridge's role.

Poeltl scored 13 points (6-7 FG, 1-1 FT) while adding 11 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and a steal in 30 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 103-91 win over the Rockets.

The 25-year-old big saw his biggest workload of the season and responded with season highs in points, boards and blocks, along with his first double-double. Poeltl has never developed into a starter, or even a consistent bench player, since being a lottery pick by the Raptors in 2015, but his role in the frontcourt rotation seems secure given the Spurs' lack of size beyond LaMarcus Aldridge.

Poeltl registered two points (1-2 FG, 0-2 FT) and one rebound across 11 minutes in Sunday's 96-88 loss to the Timberwolves.

Poeltl's production has been extremely limited of late, as he's combined to score eight points across the last four games. In addition, he's also averaging a nasty 23.1 percent shooting from the foul line through 10 games. On the bright side, Poeltl is averaging a career high of 6.1 rebounds per game in the early going of the season.

Poeltl posted two points (1-1 FG), six rebounds, three assists and two steals across 19 minutes Tuesday in the Spurs' 116-113 win over the Clippers.

With LaMarcus Aldridge (knee) back in action after a three-game absence, Poeltl moved to the bench, but he didn't see any major downturn in playing time. While Poeltl is valued for his skills as a rim protector, his lack of outside shooting and limitations when it comes to defending big men who can stretch the floor will likely make it tough for him to push past 25 minutes even if Aldridge misses time again at some point. The 25-year-old still maintains some appeal in deeper rotisserie leagues for his rebounding and blocks production along with his strong field-goal percentage.

Poeltl got his third start to the season since LaMarcus Aldridge (knee) remains sidelined, and he responded by putting up his first double-digit scoring performance of the campaign. Poeltl is yet to record a double-double this season and his value is dependant on whether he remains in the lineup. His next chance to play will come Tuesday on the road against the Clippers.

Poeltl will start Wednesday's game against the Lakers in place of LaMarcus Aldridge (knee), Mike Wright of ESPN reports.

As expected, Poeltl will make his first start of the season with Aldridge sidelined due to a sore knee. Poeltl played a season-high 23 minutes off the bench in Sunday's loss to the Pelicans, finishing with eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks.

Poeltl is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener versus the Grizzlies.

The 25-year-old was the presumed starting center entering the season, but LaMarcus Aldridge will open as the starter with Keldon Johnson at power forward. Poeltl may rotate between a starting and bench role throughout the season depending on the matchup.

Poeltl finished with just four points (2-4 FG), four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 16 minutes during Tuesday's 112-98 loss to the Rockets.

Poeltl moved back to the bench, allowing LaMarcus Aldridge to shift over to the center spot. While this was merely a matchup-based decision, it does highlight a major issue that is sure to reoccur during the season. Poeltl can be a standard league asset when afforded sufficient playing time. Unfortunately, his role seems likely to fluctuate which makes him a late-round option at best.

Poeltl will come off the bench during Tuesday's preseason action against the Rockets, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports.

Against the Rockets, who run a five-out offense, coach Gregg Popovich will opt for a smaller lineup. The result is Lonnie Walker in the starting five over Poeltl, with LaMarcus Aldridge starting at center.

Poeltl is expected to re-sign with the Spurs on a three-year, $27 million contract, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Poeltl has averaged 5.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks across 17.1 minutes per game during his two years in San Antonio. He projects to continue playing a similar role for the team in the upcoming season.

Poeltl posted 19 points (9-12 FG, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds, three blocks and two assists in 30 minutes during Friday's 119-111 win over the Jazz.

This was Poeltl's best game in the bubble, and it came against a short-handed Jazz squad who were without all their starters except Joe Ingles. He set a season high with 19 points and only needed 12 shots to do so. Friday also marked Poeltl's fifth performance of the season with double-digit points and multiple blocks.

Poeltl posted 12 points (6-7 FG, 0-1 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist, and one block in 23 minutes during Saturday's 124-119 scrimmage loss against the Nets.

Poeltl logged the second-fewest minutes among the starters in this one, but he delivered a strong performance on both ends of the court. The absence of both LaMarcus Aldridge (shoulder) and Trey Lyles (side) should allow Poeltl to see meaningful minutes at center once play resumes next week. He should make quite an impact if he can repeat this kind of output in the final games of the regular season.

Poeltl had eight points (4-6 FG) and seven rebounds in Thursday's scrimmage against Milwaukee.

Getting the start at center with no LaMarcus Aldridge or Trey Lyles, Poeltl played 16 minutes, and the Spurs were plus-two during that time. Poeltl also added two blocks to his ledger. The former Utah standout should be set for an increased role once seeding games begin.

Poeltl reiterated Thursday that his knee is 100 percent healthy entering the Orlando restart, Jeff Garcia of News 4 in San Antonio reports.

Poeltl said essentially the same thing back in April, but he noted Thursday that he's experienced no setbacks over the last two-plus months. With LaMarcus Aldridge (shoulder) sitting out, Poeltl could be set for increased minutes down the stretch.

Poeltl (knee) said Wednesday that he's made a full recovery from his right MCL sprain and indicated he'll be ready to play when the season resumes, Jeff Garcia of Fox San Antonio reports. "Although I have no experience with knee injuries, I expect that I will have no problems if the season continues," Poeltl said.

Poeltl missed five consecutive games with the injury before the NBA suspended its season, but he had been expected to be ready to go by the end of March. With the big man confirming that he's feeling healthy again, he's expected to step back into his normal role as the Spurs' backup center once the season starts back up. Prior to getting hurt, Poeltl had averaged 5.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 blocks in 16.6 minutes per game while shooting 61.9 percent from the field in 58 appearances.

Poeltl revealed Sunday via his personal Facebook page that he expects to be sidelined 2-to-4 weeks after being diagnosed with a sprained MCL in his right knee, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.

The reserve center sustained the injury in Saturday's 114-113 win over the Magic, when he bumped knees with another player midway through the first quarter. While San Antonio isn't putting a timeline on Poeltl's return, the big man's own estimate would keep him sidelined until the second half of March. Two-way player Drew Eubanks or second-year player Chimezie Metu could end up absorbing most of the second-unit center minutes while Poeltl is out.

Poeltl (knee) has been diagnosed with a sprained right MCL, Paul Garcia of Project Spurs reports.

Poeltl suffered the injury, which was initially called a bruise, during Saturday night's game against Orlando. The Spurs haven't released a timetable, but Poeltl has been ruled out of Monday's game against Indiana, and he could stand to miss extended time.

Poeltl suffered a right knee bruise and won't return to Saturday's game against the Magic, Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Poeltl played only 13 minutes Friday but still managed to have an impact in the victory. He continues to come off the bench behind Trey Lyles despite the fact Lyles offers very little in the way of production. The thinking has to be that Lyles can spread the floor for the Spurs, something that Poeltl is unable to do. The minutes are unlikely to increase anytime soon; however, Poeltl remains one of the better blocks streamers across most standard formats.

Poeltl posted four points (2-3 FG, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, three blocks and two assists across 14 minutes off the bench in Monday's 108-105 loss to the Clippers.

Poeltl was able to take advantage while LaMarcus Aldridge (thumb) was held out or limited in three of the prior four games, averaging 12.0 points, 8.8 boards, 1.8 blocks and 1.8 assists in 22.3 minutes over that stretch while shooting 72.4 percent from the field. Aldridge was ready to handle a more normal workload (34 minutes) Monday and didn't see any action at power forward, leaving only 14 minutes available for Poeltl as the backup center. Unless Aldridge gets hurt again or coach Gregg Popovich is more willing to use him at power forward instead of Trey Lyles and Rudy Gay, Poeltl won't profile as much for than a blocks streamer for fantasy purposes.

Poeltl notched 17 points (7-8 FG, 3-5 FT), seven rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist in 18 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 114-90 win over the Hornets.

Poeltl has always been more recognized due to his defensive ability, but he has scored in double figures in three of his last four outings. With LaMarcus Aldridge (thumb) back in the starting five after a two-game absence, Poeltl will resume a reserve role. In his past five appearances off the bench, he's averaged 5.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.2 steals in 12.8 minutes.

Poeltl posted his highest scoring output of the season while notching only his second double-double of the campaign and first since Nov. 23 -- it's safe to say he made the most of LaMarcus Aldridge's absence due to a thumb injury. That said, Poeltl has scored in double figures just five times this season and his playing time regularly surpasses the 25-minute mark, meaning he shouldn't have much upside once he returns to his regular bench role.

Poeltl will get the start at center for Monday's game against the Bulls, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Poeltl will replace Aldridge (thumb) in the starting lineup.

Poeltl provided four points (2-3 FG), 10 rebounds, two blocks and one assist in 20 minutes during Sunday's 105-104 win over the Raptors.

Poeltl had earned 15 minutes or less in six straight showings prior to this one, and he has just six double-digit rebounding efforts through 38 appearances this season. Still, Poeltl is maintaining career-high per-game averages in boards, assists and blocks.
