The 2024 second-round pick has caught fire offensively over the last couple weeks. Wells has drained multiple three-pointers in five of the last six games, averaging 18.7 points, 3.5 boards, 3.0 threes and 1,5 assists over that stretch while shooting a blistering 64.3 percent from the floor and 58.1 percent (18-for-31) from beyond the arc.

Wells notched 20 points (6-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 6-8 FT), one rebound and two assists over 28 minutes during Tuesday's 126-119 loss to San Antonio.

The second-year forward continues thrive with larger usage for the Grizzlies. Over the last five games, Wells has reached 20 points three times while draining multiple three-pointers four times, averaging 19.0 points, 3.6 boards, 3.0 threes and 1.8 assists in 30.2 minutes while shooting a blistering 64.4 percent from the floor and 57.7 percent (15-for-26) from downtown. Wells won't stay that hot forever, and his role will likely shrink once Ja Morant (calf) is back, but at least for now the Grizzlies are leaning heavily on the 2024 second-round pick for offense.

Wells amassed 25 points (9-11 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 32 minutes during Wednesday's 133-128 overtime victory over the Pelicans.

The 25 points were a season high for Wells, who has topped 20 points in back-to-back games after failing to score more than 18 in any of his first 17 games of 2025-26. The second-year wing is seeing his usage creep up with Ja Morant (calf) on the shelf, and over five games since Morant went down, Wells is averaging 15.6 points, 3.0 boards, 2.4 assists, 2.4 threes and 1.0 steals in 28.4 minutes a contest while shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 48.0 percent (12-for-25) from beyond the arc.

Wells finished Monday's 125-115 loss to the Nuggets with 22 points (8-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists and one steal over 33 minutes.

Wells finally found his offensive groove, scoring a season-high 22 points. Prior to Monday, he had scored more than 15 points only once in the previous 11 games, continuing his slow start to the season. There is no reason to overreact to this performance, but he is worth keeping an eye on, given that Memphis is dealing with multiple injuries to its backcourt.

Wells had nine points (4-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt), one rebound, two assists and two steals across 27 minutes during Tuesday's 111-101 loss to the Spurs.

Wells has been inconsistent offensively, which is not ideal for Memphis considering he will be asked to carry a heavier workload with Ja Morant (calf) sidelined for a couple weeks. In 15 games this season, Wells is averaging 9.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 sasists, 0.7 steals and 1.5 threes.

Wells scored a season-high 18 points, a welcome sight after what has been an underwhelming start to the season. Despite starting in all 12 games, Wells is averaging just 10.0 points and 1.6 three-pointers in 25.4 minutes per game. This puts him will outside the top 200 in standard nine-category formats, making him nothing more than a streaming consideration.

Wells closed with 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt), one rebound and two assists across 23 minutes during Sunday's 114-100 loss to Oklahoma City.

The entire Memphis roster was off offensively, as they totaled 100 points Sunday and Cedric Coward led the way off the bench with only 13. Despite the lack of production, Wells had an efficient night, shooting 50 percent from the field and from beyond the arc, despite averaging a meager 35.2 percent from the field and 25.9 percent from three on the season. Wells will need a few more shooting performances like his on Sunday to get his efficiency back to par.

Wells delivered 16 points (7-16 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 0-1 FT) while adding seven rebounds in 27 minutes during Friday's 117-112 loss to the Lakers.

The second-year forward tied Jock Landale for the Grizzlies scoring lead on the night, with Wells' points and boards both being season highs. The 2024 second-round pick has started six straight games to begin the season while Memphis waits for Brandon Clarke (knee) to get healthy, but Wells hasn't done a whole lot yet with the opportunity, averaging 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.7 threes and 1.3 assists in 26.8 minutes a contest -- numbers nearly identical to his rookie production.

Wells, who shot 7-for-15 from 3-point range over the first two games, missed all seven of his tries from deep on Saturday. He's scored 14 combined points in his last two outings after putting up 14 with four assists and a steal in Memphis' season opener, and the second-year wing will try to bounce back against the Warriors on Monday night.

Wells is far from a flashy player, but he gets the job done. If Wells can increase his playmaking and defensive stats, he could be in store for a strong second season in the NBA.

Wells should open the year as a starter in Memphis and he'll look to build off a rookie season in which he put in averages of 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 triples per contest. He could be worth a late-round pick in deep leagues on draft day.

Wells led the way in the scoring department for his squad while playing limited minutes. He's played well in the preseason thus far, as he continues to shine as a scorer with a lot of potential.

Wells finished with 21 points (6-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three assists and one rebound in 24 minutes during Wednesday's preseason loss to the Celtics.

The Grizzlies already look like a shell of what is possible this season, with multiple injured players already on the sideline. Coming off an impressive rookie season, Wells is likely going to be tasked with doing a lot of the heavy lifting on the offensive end to start the season, with his performance Wednesday a good indication of what he is capable of. Look for him to be a reliable source of points and threes, especially early in the season. Once the roster is healthy, his role could regress slightly, although he figures to be a starter all season.

Wells (undisclosed) will not play for the remainder of the Summer League, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

This is hardly a surprise, as Wells doesn't have much to prove. He appeared in five Summer League contests, posting averages of 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists. He's expected to play a key role in Memphis this season with Desmond Bane out of the picture.

Wells came on strong in the second half for Memphis, as he went on to lead all scorers with 23 points. An impressive bounce-back performance for Washington State product, after he struggled with his shooting in Friday's game against Boston. Despite having his rookie year in Memphis cut short due to season-ending shoulder surgery, Wells made an impression, averaging 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 35.2 percent from deep.

Wells finished with 13 points (3-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block across 23 minutes during Friday's 92-78 Summer League loss to the Celtics.

Despite struggling with his shooting, Wells recorded a game-high two steals. The promising young forward missed Tuesday's game against Philadelphia for rest purposes. He'll likely be monitored closely by the Grizzlies coaching staff, as he's coming off a right wrist fracture that ended his rookie season in April.

Wells (rest) won't play in Tuesday's Summer League game against the 76ers, Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian reports.

Wells will sit out the second night of the club's back-to-back set. His next chance to play will come Friday against the Celtics.

Wells was undercut on a drive to the basket and a stretcher was called immediately after the hard fall. The rookie can presumably be ruled out for the remainder of Tuesday's contest, and he'll finish the game with three points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 11 minutes.

Wells' numbers have been trending in the wrong direction in recent weeks, and while he's scored in double digits in three of his last five outings, he hasn't cleared the 15-point mark since March 1. The first-year player seems to have hit a rookie wall, as he's averaging a mere 7.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game despite starting in each of Memphis' 14 games this month.

Wells supplied 14 points (4-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Monday's 132-122 loss to Sacramento.

Wells continues to play a significant role for the Grizzlies on the wings, and he took advantage of some extra usage with Ja Morant (hamstring) and Santi Aldama (calf) on the shelf. He's been cold in recent games, however, but this was a step in the right direction. Over his last five games, Wells hit 29.3 percent from the field with 6.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 three-pointers.

Wells (head) returned to Monday's game against the Suns in the third quarter, Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian reports.

Wells went back to the locker room early in the third quarter due to an apparent head injury. However, the rookie second-round pick has since returned, and there is no indication that he won't be able to shoulder his normal workload during the final quarter.

If Jackson is forced to miss time, Wells appears likely to soak up some usage on the offensive end, especially with Ja Morant (shoulder) injured as well. Over his last five games, Wells has produced averages of 13.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 3.2 three-pointers.

Wells logged 19 points (7-12 FG, 5-7 3Pt), five rebounds and two assists over 40 minutes during Tuesday's 151-148 overtime win over the Suns.

This was Wells' fifth game of the campaign with at least 19 points. He's typically a low-usage player for Memphis, limiting his fantasy appeal to deeper formats. Over his last 10 outings, Wells has been outside the top-200 in nine-category formats with 10.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.5 steals and 1.6 three-pointers.

Wells was able to contribute 17 points, though he struggled from three-point range. He has shot only 28.2 percent from beyond the arc in his last 10 outings. In that same 10-game span, the 21-year-old has averaged 9.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 23.9 minutes per game as a mainstay in the starting five.

Wells will start Sunday's All-Star Game semifinal against Team Shaq, per NBA broadcast.

Wells and Team Rising Stars won the Rising Stars title and advanced to play in Sunday's All-Star Game tournament. Over his last 10 appearances, Wells has averaged 8.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 24.2 minutes per contest.

Wells logged zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one rebound over 3:48 of court time in Team C's 25-14 win over Team G League in the Rising Stars final Friday.

Wells had more of an impact in Team C's semifinal win over Team T, finishing with five points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and two rebounds over 10:40 of playing time while finishing with a plus-10 point differential. Wells and Grizzlies teammate Zach Edey will advance to the All-Star Game tournament Sunday and face off against Team Shaq in the first round. Wells has averaged 8.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.8 steals over 24.2 minutes per game over his last 10 appearances before All-Star weekend.

From an efficiency perspective, Wells had one of his best performances of the season, as the rookie missed just three of his 11 shots while draining six threes, his second-best mark this season. Arguably, his most impressive sequence was a one-legged three-pointer over Victor Wembanyama, and he continued an outstanding stretch of play. Over eight games this month, Wells has scored in double digits five times while averaging 14.1 points per contest.

Wells closed Monday's 120-118 loss to the Rockets with 14 points (5-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and two steals across 30 minutes.

Wells continues to trend in the right direction for the shorthanded Grizzlies. Through six January outings, the rookie guard is averaging 14.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.5 three-pointers. He'll likely remain on the streaming radar until the Grizzlies get some reinforcements back in the rotation.

Wells posted 17 points (3-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 10-11 FT), 11 boards and an assist in 35 minutes of play during Monday's 119-104 win over the Mavericks.

Although Wells struggled to score efficiently, he was able to set a career-high in rebounds and did a good job getting to the line. With Ja Morant (shoulder), Desmond Bane (ankle) and Marcus Smart (finger) all sidelined, the guard depth chart is wide open for Wells to command the ball more than he ever has thus far in his young career. However, Morant is week-to-week, Bane is day-to-day and Smart is due to be re-evaluated soon, so it's difficult to tell how long he'll continue to get this kind of volume.

Wells came out of nowhere to post a career-high scoring total by a wide margin. The 2024 first-round pick is loaded with potential, and absences from Ja Morant (shoulder) and Marcus Smart (finger) give hm numerous opportunities to strut his stuff. Wells' explosive total is a sign of what Memphis fans can look forward to as the rookie develops further.

Wells scored double-digits for the third time in the past four games, continuing to provide the Grizzles with serviceable production. After coming off the bench for the first five games of the season, Wells has since been a regular member of the starting lineup. Over the past two months, he has averaged 11.6 points and 1.8 three-pointers in 25.4 minutes per game.

Wells finished Monday's 114-110 loss to the Clippers with seven points (2-5 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 28 minutes.

With Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson combining to score 68 points, Wells understandably took a backseat on offense. With a low usage rate and a mild workload, he's mostly been a deep-league contributor in fantasy with averages of 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.4 three-pointers in 10 December outings.

Wells closed Sunday's 136-121 win over the Pacers with 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-7 3Pt), six rebounds and one assist over 26 minutes.

Wells provided a nice spark from deep in Sunday's contest, connecting on a team-high-tying mark from three while ending as one of seven Grizzlies in double figures in scoring in a winning effort. Wells has connected on at least three threes in three of his last five contests while posting a double-digit point total in seven of the last 10 games.

The rookie has been one of the most pleasant surprises among first-year players this season, and he delivered his best game of the campaign Saturday. Wells has performed better than expected this season and hasn't looked overmatched since being promoted to a starting role. The former Washington State standout has scored in double digits in nine of his 12 starts, and he's recorded at least 15 points seven times already.

Wells should remain in a starting role until the Grizzlies' backcourt is fully healthy.

Wells finished the game tied with Scotty Pippen as the Griz's third-leading scorer behind Ja Morant (26) and Santi Aldama (19), and Wells made a team-high three triples in the win. Wells could be in the starting five against the 76ers on Saturday if both Bane and Smart continue to sit.

Wells is starting Thursday's game against the Bucks.

However, Wells' stellar play during both the Summer League and preseason bodes well for the possibility that he climbs the depth chart throughout the 2024-25 campaign.

With Desmond Bane out for undisclosed reasons, Wells drew a spot start Saturday against the Bulls and scored 24 points in 32 minutes. However, Bane is back, so Wells will come off the bench, though he could still see a sizable role given Ja Morant (ankle) and Marcus Smart (undisclosed) are unlikely to play.

Wells was one of several non-regulars who started for the Grizzlies in this game looking to strengthen their cases for a rotation spot, and he certainly made his presence felt as an excellent scorer and capable playmaker. Wells' case for a rotation spot is far from over, though, and he can't feel confident about his chances since he'll compete with John Konchar, Vince Williams (lower leg) and Jake LaRavia for minutes off the bench in a best-case scenario.

Wells will enter the starting five in Saturday's preseason matchup versus the Bulls.

The Grizzlies signed Wells to a four-year, $7.9 million deal Saturday, Jonathan Givony of ESPN.com reports.

Wells was selected by the Grizzlies with the No. 39 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

After spending two years at Sonoma State (Division II), Wells transferred to Washington State last season and emerged as one of the best three-point shooters in the Pac 12. Wells knocked down 41.7 percent of his looks from beyond the arc, with more than half of his total field goal attempts coming from three-point range. Wells will likely spend much of his rookie season in the G League as a developmental piece.
