Champagnie had arguably the best game of his career in the loss, making the most of his starting role. With Keldon Johnson sidelined due to a knee concern, Champagnie slid into the opening unit, also seeing additional run as the game descended into garbage time. It really was a perfect storm, especially given he had not even been a nightly part of the rotation prior to Tuesday. If Johnson misses more time, Champagnie might be worth taking a flyer on just to see if this game leads to more production.

He carried that momentum over to Vegas and had one of the highlights of the tournaments so far with a monster dunk over James Nnaji. Champagnie is doing everything he can to show that he's ready for rotation minutes in 2023-24.

The Spurs signed Champagnie to a four-year, $12 million contract with a team option for 2026-27 on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Though Champagnie won't be in line to handle heavy minutes to begin the 2023-24 season and may not even be part of the rotation, he likely showed enough for San Antonio to retain him while he heads into restricted free agency this summer.

Champagnie will start in Saturday's game against the Timberwolves.

Champagnie has finished with at least 10 points and five rebounds in three consecutive contests, including two 20-plus-point outings during that stretch. Over his past 10 appearances (one start), the undrafted rookie out of St. John's has averaged 10.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals-plus-blocks in 21.5 minutes per game.

Champagnie will play a reserve role in Friday's game against the Warriors, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.

After a one-game stint in the starting lineup, Champagnie will return to a bench role. He has averaged 5.5 points and 2.2 rebounds across 12.9 minutes in 10 games as a reserve this season.

The undrafted rookie out of St. John's had been playing under a two-way deal for the 76ers, but Philadelphia will move on from Champagnie and hand his roster spot to second-year guard Mac McClung. Champagnie appeared in just two games for the NBA team and had seen the overwhelming share of his opportunities with the G League's Delaware Blue Coats this season. In 18 appearances for Delaware, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 14.3 points (on 41.9 percent shooting from the field), 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 three-pointers, 1.9 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.6 steals in 28.7 minutes per contest.

Champagnie will join the 76ers' active roster for Friday's meeting with the Bucks, Justin Grasso of SI.com reports.

Champagnie has been spending time with the 76ers G League affiliate Delaware Blue Coats but will make the trip back to Philadelphie for a meeting with the Bucks. He likely will not factor into Friday's rotation.
