Nov 17, 2025
Transferred to G League
The Hornets transferred Simpson to the G League's Swarm for practice on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Presumably, Simpson will be recalled to the Hornets right away. Simpson has appeared in six regular-season games for the Hornets with an average of 14.9 minutes per contest.
Nov 15, 2025
Upgraded to available
Simpson (shoulder) is available for Saturday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Simpson was deemed probable for this contest due to a shoulder problem, but the second-year floor general will be able to suit up. He's buried on the depth chart, however, so he shouldn't see many minutes. He's been limited to just five appearances and 14.4 minutes per contest so far in 2025-26.
Nov 15, 2025
Probable vs. Thunder
Simpson (shoulder) is probable for Saturday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
A left AC joint sprain continues to plague Simpson, though the issue shouldn't keep him out Saturday. With LaMelo Ball (ankle) set to take a seat against Oklahoma City, Simpson is in line to at least be part of the rotation. The two-way player has averaged 5.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 14.4 minutes per game over five games this season, shooting just 37.5 percent from the floor.
Nov 14, 2025
Available to play
Simpson (shoulder) will be available to play Friday against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Simpson will be available, but with LaMelo Ball (ankle) returning for Friday's game, Simpson might get bumped from the rotation. He's averaging 5.0 points and 2.6 assists in 14.4 minutes a night on the year.
Nov 13, 2025
Likely to play vs. Bucks
Simpson (shoulder) is probable for Friday's game against Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
A left AC joint sprain continues to bother Simpson, but he remains likely to play Friday. With LaMelo Ball (ankle) expected to play, Simpson is in danger of losing some playing time. Simpson has averaged 5.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 14.4 minutes per contest over five games this season, shooting a paltry 37.5 percent from the floor.
Nov 12, 2025
Cleared for Wednesday
Simpson (shoulder) is available for Wednesday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Simpson was tabbed probable for Wednesday's contest due to a sprained left shoulder. The two-way guard will give it a go, and he should see decent action off the bench due to the absence of LaMelo Ball (ankle).
Nov 11, 2025
Probable for Wednesday
Simpson (shoulder) is probable for Wednesday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
A shoulder sprain isn't expected to keep Simpson from playing Wednesday. Simpson has averaged 5.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 15.8 minutes per contest over four games this season.
Nov 5, 2025
Fares well off bench
Simpson closed Tuesday's 116-112 loss to the Pelicans with eight points (3-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and three rebounds over 13 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Simpson is on a two-way contract with the Hornets, but he made his second appearance of the season Tuesday due to some injuries in Charlotte. Once the Hornets get some reinforcements back, Simpson is likely to be a featured player for the Greensboro Swarm in the G League.
Jul 14, 2025
Leading scorer in SL win
Simpson totaled 18 points (6-13 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven assists, one rebound and one steal across 25 minutes in Monday's 87-69 Summer League win over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Simpson delivered another strong showing Monday, leading all scorers with 18 points. He saw extended minutes to close out his rookie 2024-25 campaign, starting the Hornets' final 10 regular-season games and averaging 9.9 points, 4.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals while shooting 36.4 percent in 30.2 minutes per game.
Jul 12, 2025
Fills up stat sheet in win
Simpson tallied 19 points (6-16 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 5-8 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Saturday's 96-94 win against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Simpson followed up a 21-point performance in Friday's game against the Jazz with another strong showing Saturday in the Summer League. The Colorado product finished with a team-high 19 points, being one of five players for Philadelphia to score in double figures in a matchup that came down to the wire in Las Vegas.
Jul 11, 2025
Knocks down four threes in SL
Simpson generated 21 points (8-15 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five assists, three rebounds and three steals over 29 minutes of Friday's 111-105 Summer League win over Utah.
ANALYSIS
Simpson was one of three Hornets players to hit the 20-point threshold, joining Liam McNeeley and Tijane Salaun in the 20-point club. Simpson made just 25.4 percent of his three-point attempts with the Hornets last season, but he was firing on all cylinders from beyond the arc Friday. Entering the second and final year of his two-year, two-way contract, Simpson will need to prove he's worth keeping around.
Apr 14, 2025
Struggles offensively in loss
Simpson closed with two points (1-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt), five rebounds, five assists and two steals in 32 minutes during Sunday's 93-86 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Simpson failed to make an impact on the offensive end of the floor in the Hornets' regular-season finale Sunday, scoring two points while missing five of the six shots he attempted. The rookie guard's year ends, averaging 7.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, shooting 34.6 percent from the floor and 25.4 percent from beyond the arc.
Apr 8, 2025
Ejected from game Tuesday
Simpson was assessed with a Flagrant-2 foul and ejected from Tuesday's game versus the Grizzlies with 1:10 remaining in the second quarter after clipping Jaylen Wells mid-air, Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
While Simpson's foul appeared to be inadvertent, he caused a potential injury to Wells due to falling to the floor awkwardly. Simpson will finish Tuesday's contest with seven points (3-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists in 15 minutes.
Apr 6, 2025
Season best outing in defeat
Simpson contributed 18 points (7-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and two steals across 32 minutes during Sunday's 131-117 loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Simpson provided a lift to Charlotte on both ends of the floor Sunday, but notably on offense by leading all Hornets in assists while finishing second on the team in scoring. Simpson also shined defensively, swiping a team-high-tying pair of steals. He set a new season high in scoring while posting his forth outing with seven or more assists.
Apr 5, 2025
Decent stat line in loss
Simpson provided 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), one rebound, four assists and one steal across 33 minutes during Friday's 125-102 loss to the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Simpson has claimed the role of starting point guard once LaMelo Ball was shut down for the rest of the season due to wrist and ankle injuries. While his numbers haven't set the world on fire, he's looking competent while handling a more significant responsibility on offense. Simpson has scored in double digits in three of his last five starts, averaging 11.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game. The lack of efficiency could be an issue, though, as he's shooting just 39.3 percent from the floor and 30.8 percent from deep in that span.
Mar 31, 2025
Across-the-board production
Simpson totaled 10 points (4-13 FG, 2-8 3Pt), eight rebounds, six assists, one block and two steals in 32 minutes during Monday's 110-106 victory over Utah.
ANALYSIS
Simpson started for the third straight game, delivering another intriguing performance. With LaMelo Ball having been ruled out for the season due to ankle and wrist injuries, Simpson appears to have secured the starting role. Over the past three games, he has averaged 11.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.0 three-pointers.
Mar 28, 2025
Starting sans Ball
Simpson is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
With LaMelo Ball (ankle/wrist) out for the season, Simpson will draw the start Friday and offer some streaming value. Simpson has averaged 12.4 points, 4.8 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 31.7 minutes over five games as a starter this season.
Mar 22, 2025
Hands out eight dimes in spot start
Simpson produced 10 points (2-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, eight assists and one steal over 33 minutes during Friday's 141-106 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Simpson got the start Friday due to the absence of LaMelo Ball (ankle), and he thrived as a playmaker while ending just one assist away from matching his season-high mark in that department. Simpson has proven he can handle decent minutes if needed, as he's logged 25 or more minutes on 11 different occasions, but his fantasy upside is tied to Ball's availability. If Ball is available for Sunday's matchup against the Heat, Simpson wouldn't have a lot of fantasy appeal across all formats.
Mar 21, 2025
Starting sans Ball
Simpson will start in Friday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old point guard will receive the starting nod due to LaMelo Ball (ankle) being sidelined. Simpson has recorded four starts on the season, averaging 13.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals across 31.8 minutes per contest.
Feb 26, 2025
Scores 16 points in spot start
Simpson registered 16 points (7-18 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two steals across 36 minutes during Tuesday's 128-92 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Simpson drew the start at point guard with LaMelo Ball (ankle), and the rookie responded with his best scoring total of the season. The Colorado product was beginning to see more time before the All-Star break, but Ball's return to action kept him off the floor for five consecutive games. Simpson has only appeared in 22 games, so he is well below his current contract restrictions and should remain with the team until the end of the season.
Feb 25, 2025
Starting sans Ball
Simpson will enter the starting lineup in Tuesday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
With LaMelo Ball (ankle) on the shelf, Simpson will draw his third start of the year. The 22-year-old point guard accumulated 25 points, nine assists, four rebounds and two steals across 60 total minutes in his previous two starts.
Feb 11, 2025
Career-high nine rebounds in loss
Simpson supplied nine points (3-12 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), nine rebounds, four assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Monday's 97-89 loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Simpson struggled with his shooting in Monday's loss to the Nets, going 3-for-12 from the field and 0-for-4 from deep. However, he racked up a career-high nine rebounds, four assists and one steal, which salvaged what could've been a forgettable performance for the Hornets.
Feb 10, 2025
Returning to bench role
Simpson is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
The Hornets won't start Simpson for this matchup since LaMelo Ball (ankle) is ready to roll in the second leg of this back-to-back set. Even though Simpson has scored in double digits in three games in a row, he won't carry a lot of fantasy upside if he's relegated to a second-unit role.
Feb 9, 2025
Balanced outing in starting lineup
Simpson had 10 points (3-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, six assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Sunday's 112-102 loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Simpson entered the starting lineup Sunday due to injuries with a few Hornets players, putting forth a balanced performance including handing out a team-high assist mark in a losing effort. Simpson reached double figures in scoring for the forth time this season, including in three straight outings.
Feb 9, 2025
Back in starting lineup
Simpson will start Sunday's game against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
With LaMelo Ball (ankle) and Nick Smith (back) both sitting out the first game of a back-to-back set, Simpson and Seth Curry slide into the starting lineup. Simpson started against the Bucks on Wednesday and posted 15 points (6-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt), three assists, one rebound and one steal over 28 minutes during the Hornets' 112-102 loss
Feb 7, 2025
Retreats to bench
Simpson isn't in the starting five for Friday's game versus the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
LaMelo Ball will reclaim his starting spot from Simpson after missing Charlotte's previous contest due to an ankle injury. Simpson is averaging 6.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.3 minutes across his previous 10 appearances coming off the bench.
Feb 5, 2025
Scores 15 points in first start
Simpson tallied 15 points (6-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt), three assists, one rebound and one steal over 28 minutes during the Hornets' 112-102 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Simpson got the first start of his NBA career Wednesday due to Vasilije Micic being ruled out with an ankle injury. Simpson took advantage of the opportunity, connecting on three threes for the first time this season while finishing tied with Miles Bridges as the Hornets' second-leading scorer behind Nick Smith (22). Simpson could start against the Spurs on Friday if Micic is not cleared to play.
Feb 5, 2025
First career start Wednesday
Simpson will start in Wednesday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
It'll be the first career start for Simpson, who will replace Vasilije Micic (ankle) in Charlotte's first unit. Simpson has averaged 8.3 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 25.8 minutes over his last four games, and he's in line for an uptick in minutes Wednesday.
Feb 2, 2025
Tallies eight assists in loss
Simpson logged eight points (2-9 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds and eight assists across 27 minutes during Saturday's 107-104 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Simpson provided the Hornets with a viable backup point guard option, something that could turn into a more sizeable role should Vasilije Micic be forced to the sideline after suffering an ankle injury in the loss. Simpson's overall game translates relatively well on the defensive end, while the assists are an interesting wrinkle that could afford him some playmaking opportunities.
Jan 25, 2025
Headed to G League
The Hornets assigned Simpson to the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Simpson logged 19 minutes in his most recent outing for Charlotte. However, as a two-way player, he will now spend time with the team's G League affiliate.
Jan 24, 2025
Returns to parent club
The Hornets transferred Simpson from the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Friday.
ANALYSIS
With LaMelo Ball (wrist) listed as questionable for the front end of a back-to-back set Friday versus the Trail Blazers, Simpson will rejoin the Hornets and could crack the rotation. The rookie guard has averaged 4.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 14.4 minutes across 12 appearances for Charlotte thus far.
Jan 18, 2025
Sent to G League
The Hornets transferred Simpson to the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Simpson continues to split time between the NBA and G League as a two-way player. However, the rookie guard should receive increased playing time while with the Swarm.
Dec 30, 2024
Back to NBA
Charlotte recalled Simpson from the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Simpson made two appearances during his stint with the Swarm, but he'll be available Monday for the Hornets' game against the Bulls. He's played just nine games at the NBA level this season, averaging 13.3 minutes.
Dec 4, 2024
Flirts with triple-double
Simpson had eight points (2-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, nine assists and one steal in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 110-104 loss to the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Simpson was the first player off the Charlotte bench and nearly triple-doubled as he posted career-high marks in assists (9) and rebounds (6). The Hornets are very shorthanded right now, so the No. 42 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft could get an extended look if Tuesday's performance was any indication.
Nov 5, 2024
Logs first career minutes
Simpson produced two points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist across seven minutes during Monday's 114-93 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Simpson played seven minutes in the loss, stepping onto an NBA court for the first time. The Hornets were never in the contest, allowing their second and third units to see some extra playing time. It is a momentous occasion for any rookie when they first get a taste of what it's like to play in the NBA, but that is where the news ends given Simpson is far from being an every-night part of the rotation.
Jul 7, 2024
Signs two-way pact with Buzz City
The Hornets signed Simpson (hamstring) to a two-way contract Sunday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
The No. 42 overall pick of the 2024 Draft will spend time between the Hornets and their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. Simpson suffered a hamstring injury prior to the draft and will miss the Summer League, but he should be good to go for training camp. The 21-year-old averaged 19.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 43.4 percent from three for Colorado in 2023-24.
Jul 1, 2024
To miss Summer League
Simpson suffered a hamstring injury during the pre-draft process and is expected to miss Summer League to rehab.
ANALYSIS
This is an unfortunate injury for Simpson, who undoubtedly would've benefitted from seeing game action during Summer League. However, the team notes the rookie guard is expected to be healthy by the fall and should be available for the start of training camp.
Jun 27, 2024
Drafted by Charlotte at No. 42
Simpson was selected by the Hornets with the 42nd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
ANALYSIS
A junior out of Colorado, Simpson enjoyed a strong 2023-24 season and was named to the 2023-24 All-Pac-12 First Team. He had a breakout campaign shooting the ball, hitting 43.4 percent of his 4.9 three-point attempts per game, helping fuel his 19.7 points per game. He can also make tough baskets around the rim. Simpson doesn't have to be glued to the ball either, as he demonstrated great off-ball movement in college. Defense is a weak point for the 6-foot-0 prospect, but the Hornets are hoping he can do everything else well.
