Keep up with the latest injuries from the Cavaliers vs Wizards game on Friday with our National Basketball Association injury report.Dec 2, 2025
Remains without timetable
Strus (foot) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Strus underwent surgery on his fractured left foot in August and has yet to make his season debut. The 29-year-old forward can be considered week-to-week until Cleveland provides an updated timetable for his return to action.
Sep 30, 2025
Sheds walking boot
Strus (foot) is no longer wearing a walking boot on Tuesday, but still has a lengthy recovery process ahead, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus underwent surgery on his fractured left foot on Aug. 26, with his expected recovery process being three to four months. De'Andre Hunter will likely see more time on the floor with Strus on the mend to start the upcoming 2025-26 season.
Aug 26, 2025
Undergoes surgery for foot fracture
Strus will miss approximately 3-to-4 months after undergoing surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his left foot, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus suffered the injury during an offseason workout, and he's now set to miss at least the first month of the regular season. De'Andre Hunter is the next man up on Cleveland's depth chart at small forward, so his fantasy stock is certainly on the rise ahead of the new year. Sam Merrill and Dean Wade will also be in line to help pick up the slack in Strus' absence to begin 2025-26.
Apr 12, 2025
Won't play Sunday
Strus is out for Sunday's game against the Pacers due to right knee injury management.
ANALYSIS
Strus is one of several regulars who will miss Sunday's regular-season finale for the Cavaliers, who have already locked up the first seed in the Eastern Conference. Strus, a sharpshooter who stretches the floor for the Cavs on offense, should be good to go for the start of the playoffs on April 19. He finishes the 2024-25 season with averages of 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 38.6 percent from deep in his 50 appearances (37 starts).
Apr 11, 2025
Team-high five threes in return
Strus registered 19 points (7-15 FG, 5-12 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 35 minutes during Friday's 108-102 victory over the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Thursday's tilt against the Pacers, Strus nailed a team-high five three-pointers and paced the Cavaliers in swats Friday in his return to the starting lineup. The veteran sharpshooter has settled into a key three-and-D role in 2024-25, averaging 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.3 three-pointers in 26.8 minutes while shooting 41.8 percent from deep over his last 12 games.
Apr 11, 2025
Good to go Friday
Strus (knee) isn't on the injury report for Friday's game versus the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Strus will return to action Friday after sitting out the first leg of Cleveland's back-to-back due to a knee issue. Strus should re-enter the Cavaliers' starting lineup against Indiana.
Apr 9, 2025
Out vs. Indiana
Strus is out for Thursday's game against the Pacers due to knee injury management, Evan Dammarell of DownEuclid.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been bothered by a knee bruise, and the Cavaliers are doing the smart thing by sitting him down with the playoffs right around the corner. Strus has started in each of his 36 appearances since Jan. 20, averaging 9.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 0.6 steals per game. His next chance to suit up will come against the Knicks on Friday.
Apr 7, 2025
Solid stat line Sunday
Strus supplied 11 points (4-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds and seven assists across 29 minutes during Sunday's 120-113 loss to Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Strus was one of six Cleveland players who scored in double digits in this game, but more than his scoring, he delivered a strong fantasy showing by his contributions in other peripheral categories, mainly rebounds and assists. Strus is firmly entrenched in a starting role for the Cavs, but as a player who doesn't score in double digits often, his upside isn't very high, mainly since he's the fifth option on offense in a stacked starting unit.
Mar 29, 2025
Available to play
Strus (ankle) is available for Sunday's game against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Friday against the Pistons due to right ankle injury management, Strus will likely be back in his usual role Sunday. Over his last seven appearances, Strus has averaged 12.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.3 three-pointers.
Mar 28, 2025
Sitting out Friday
Strus will not play Friday against the Pistons due to right ankle injury management.
ANALYSIS
Friday's game is the second leg of a back-to-back set, so the Cavaliers will exercise caution to keep him fresh. During Thursday's win over the Spurs, Strus produced 18 points (7-10 FG, 4-7 3Pt), four rebounds and four assists across 29 minutes. Sam Merrill and Isaac Okoro could see a bump in playing time as a result.
Mar 28, 2025
Scores 18 points vs. Spurs
Strus produced 18 points (7-10 FG, 4-7 3Pt), four rebounds and four assists across 29 minutes during Thursday's 124-116 win over San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Strus was coming off three straight games in which he had posted single-digit scoring numbers, but he bounced back in this one and delivered a solid line across the board. The lack of consistency, as well as his diminished role, certainly hurt Strus' upside in most formats. He's scored in double digits in just four of his last eight starts, averaging 11.8 points per game in that stretch. He does deliver good shooting percentages, as he's making 45 percent of his threes in that eight-game span.
Mar 19, 2025
Drops season-high 24 on Tuesday
Strus logged 24 points (8-12 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 26 minutes during Tuesday's 132-119 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Even with the Cavs' starting five at full strength following the return of Evan Mobley, it was Strus who led the team in scoring en route to a season-high 24 points. The five made three-pointers also tied his best showing of 2024-25. Strus has drained multiple treys in seven of nine March games, averaging 12.1 points, 4.9 boards, 3.1 assists and 2.8 threes so far this month while shooting 41.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Mar 17, 2025
Posts 10 points vs. Orlando
Strus closed Sunday's 108-103 loss to Orlando with 10 points (4-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds and five assists across 27 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Strus has scored in double digits in seven of his last 10 appearances, but at the same time, he's reached the 15-point mark just twice in that span. He has low-end fantasy value at the moment since he's the fifth scoring option in a stacked Cavaliers roster. He can be a serviceable streaming option in most formats, but he doesn't carry the same upside as other players in the Cleveland roster.
Mar 10, 2025
Stands out in win Sunday
Strus logged 17 points (6-11 FG, 5-9 3Pt), nine rebounds, two assists and one steal over 22 minutes during Sunday's 112-100 victory over the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
In a game where Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Evan Mobley weren't as dominant as they usually are, Strus stepped his game up and finished as the team's highest scorer. This 17-point output matched his previous season-high mark in this category, and he seems to be trending in the right direction after scoring in double digits in four of his last five appearances, averaging 11.2 points and shooting 41.7 percent from deep in that stretch.
Mar 3, 2025
Notches 14 points
Strus racked up 14 points (5-15 FG, 4-11 3Pt), nine rebounds, three assists and two steals across 36 minutes during Sunday's 133-129 overtime win over Portland.
ANALYSIS
Strus' production has been pretty sporadic, making him hard to trust outside of deeper formats. Over his last 10 games, he's been just inside the top-150 in nine-category formats, posting averages of 10.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 0.7 steals and 2.6 three-pointers in that span.
Feb 21, 2025
Hands out season-high eight assists
Strus closed with five points (2-4 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds, eight assists and one steal across 21 minutes during Friday's 142-105 victory over the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Strus handed out a season-high eight assists to lead the team in this area Friday, which is especially not an easy feat when both Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell are available for the Cavaliers. Strus has settled in as a starter after missing time with an ankle injury to begin the season, as he's averaged 10.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 2.3 three-pointers in 26.7 minutes over his last 11 outings. Cleveland sports a fairly deep rotation at the moment, so fantasy managers should keep tabs on the veteran swingman's playing time going forward.
Feb 12, 2025
Solid in return
Strus put up 14 points (4-11 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six assists, five rebounds and one steal across 26 minutes in Wednesday's 131-108 win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wing showed no signs of rust despite sitting out Monday's contest against the Timberwolves. In fact, he picked up right where he left off following a strong two-game stretch to close the last week, with a solid all-around performance. He's now averaged 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 41.4 percent from deep over his last three outings. He'll look to stay hot Thursday against the Nets.
Feb 12, 2025
Available Wednesday
Strus (ankle) is available for Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Ethan Sands of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Following a one-game absence Monday against Minnesota, Strus will return from an ankle injury Wednesday. Over his last eight contests, the veteran swingman has averaged 10.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 27.8 minutes.
Feb 11, 2025
Questionable to play Wednesday
Strus (ankle) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Evan Dammarell of DownEuclid.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was unable to play in Monday's 128-107 win over the Timberwolves, but he has a chance to return from a one-game absence Wednesday. Strus has been in the Cavs' starting lineup in his last 11 outings, and over that span he has averaged 9.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals over 26.6 minutes per game while shooting 38.5 percent from three on 5.9 3PA/G.
Feb 10, 2025
Ruled out Monday
Strus (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Timberwolves, Serena Winters of FanDuel Sports Network Ohio reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was a late addition to the injury report due to right ankle soreness, and it appears the issue is severe enough for him to be sidelined for Monday's contest. Sam Merrill, Jaylon Tyson and newcomer De'Andre Hunter are all candidates to be inserted into the Cavaliers' starting lineup due to Strus' injury. Strus' next opportunity to see the floor will be Wednesday against the Raptors.
Feb 10, 2025
Questionable for Monday
Strus is questionable for Monday's game against the Timberwolves due to right ankle soreness.
ANALYSIS
Strus was a late addition to the injury report, but the wing is considered day-to-day. If Strus is held out for Monday's game, the Cavaliers could use a committee approach to soak up his minutes with Sam Merrill, De'Andre Hunter and Jaylon Tyson possibly getting more run.
Feb 7, 2025
Strong from deep in victory
Strus finished with 17 points (6-11 FG, 5-9 3Pt), five rebounds and three assists over 31 minutes during Friday's 134-124 victory over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Strus was hot from three in Friday's contest, connecting on a team-high-tying mark from deep while finishing as one of four players with 15 or more points in a winning effort. Strus matched season-best marks in scoring and threes made, a feat he has recorded in one other outing. He has now posted at least 15 points in four appearances.
Jan 30, 2025
Season-high three steals in win
Strus registered eight points (3-11 FG, 2-9 3Pt), three rebounds, six assists and three steals in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 126-106 win over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Strus struggled in the shooting department in Wednesday's win against Miami, going 3-for-11 from the floor. However, he made an impact defensively, finishing with a season-high three steals to help Cleveland get its 38th win of the season.
Jan 20, 2025
Nears double figures in first start
Strus amassed nine points (3-8 FG, 3-8 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and one steal across 21 minutes during Monday's 118-92 win over the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Strus entered the starting lineup for the first time this season Monday with Cleveland being shorthanded, providing a spark from deep while connecting on a trio of threes and ending one point shy of the double-digit mark. Strus has connected on three or more threes in six contests this year, doing so in two of his last four outings.
Jan 20, 2025
Joins starting lineup
Strus will join the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Suns, Serena Winters of FanDuel Sports Network Ohio reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cavaliers are pretty thin in terms of depth Monday, as Evan Mobley (calf), Isaac Okoro (shoulder) and Caris LeVert (wrist) are all sidelined. Strus, who will be making his first start of the campaign, is averaging 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.0 three-pointers through 13 appearances this season.
Jan 15, 2025
Leads bench in win Tuesday
Strus chipped in 13 points (4-8 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal across 22 minutes during Tuesday's 127-117 victory over the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Strus led the bench in scoring in an efficient outing from beyond the arc. The sixth-year pro delivered a solid bounce-back performance after posting three points (1-6 FG, 1-5 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes during Sunday's loss to Indiana. Strus has reached the double-digit scoring mark in three of his last five outings, and in that five-game span, he has shot 50.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Jan 12, 2025
Coming off bench Sunday
Strus will not start Sunday's game agiaanst the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Strus was initially listed in the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Pacers but it appears Dean Wade will start once again. Strus has averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game over his last five appearances.
Jan 12, 2025
Starting Sunday
Strus will start in Sunday's game against the Pacers, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old swingman will supplant Dean Wade in the starting lineup Sunday. Over his last five outings, Strus has averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per contest.
Jan 10, 2025
Stays hot from three
Strus had 12 points (4-7 FG, 4-7 3Pt), two rebounds, three assists and one steal across 25 minutes during Thursday's 132-126 win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Strus is 9-for-13 from distance over the past two games after going 1-for-9 in the two before that. While the inconsistency can be frustrating for fantasy managers, Strus is shooting 43.3 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from three in his nine appearances so far -- similar to last year's efficiency. The wing is also contributing 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds over the past five games, giving him some deep league value as more than just a shooter.
Jan 1, 2025
Plays well in win
Strus racked up 15 points (5-9 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, four assists and two blocks across 26 minutes during Tuesday's 122-110 victory over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Making his fifth appearance of the season, Strus appeared to find his stride with his first game in double figures. He's due for some positive regression with his shot, as he's currently hitting 37.5 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Dec 23, 2024
Struggles in return
Strus accumulated two points (1-3 FG, 0-2 3Pt), six rebounds and two assists over 22 minutes during Monday's 124-113 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Strus managed just two points, returning from a one-game absence as part of his return from injury. Coming off what might be considered a breakout campaign during the 2023-24 season, Strus is unlikely to reach any great heights given the current mindset in Cleveland. With the team playing about as well as could be expected, he could struggle to hit 30 minutes on any given night, liming his overall upside.
Dec 22, 2024
Off injury report
Strus (ankle) is no longer listed on the injury report ahead of Monday's game against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Strus made his season debut Friday and was unsurprisingly held out of Saturday's game as he continues to make his way back to play. Strus logged 19 minutes in his return, so it seems as if he will have a respectable role whenever he is able to suit up.
Dec 21, 2024
Sitting out Saturday
Strus won't play in Saturday's game versus the 76ers due to right ankle injury management.
ANALYSIS
Strus made his season debut Saturday after missing the first 27 games of the 2024-25 campaign due to an ankle injury. While there is no indication that Strus aggravated that injury, he will sit out the second leg of Cleveland's back-to-back Saturday for precautionary reasons. The 28-year-old forward should return to action for Monday's matchup with Utah.
Dec 21, 2024
Hits three triples in season debut
Strus (ankle) tallied nine points (3-8 FG, 3-8 3Pt) and two assists in 19 minutes in Friday's 124-101 win over the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Strus started in all 70 of his appearances with the Cavaliers in 2023-24, but after missing the first 27 games of the 2024-25 with a right hip contusion and a right ankle sprain, head coach Kenny Atkinson opted to ease the sharpshooting wing back in a bench role. The 28-year-old entered the contest with a restriction of about 20 minutes and provided the Cavaliers with some quality perimeter shooting during his time on the court. He'll likely be operating under a minutes cap once again in the second leg of the back-to-back set Saturday versus the 76ers, if he even plays at all. Once he gets fully ramped up, Strus could be a candidate to move into the starting five in place of Isaac Okoro, who recently suffered an AC joint sprain in his shoulder and is likely to miss at least two weeks. Dean Wade replaced Okoro on the top unit Friday, but over the long haul, the Cavaliers may prefer to have the superior floor-spacing option in Strus playing alongside Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell.
Dec 20, 2024
Coming off bench in return
Strus is coming off the bench and will be limited to around 20 minutes of action in Friday's game versus the Bucks, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is available to make his season debut Friday but will not receive a full workload, as expected. Strus started in all 70 of his appearances for Cleveland last season, so fantasy managers can expect him to reclaim his starting role once he works his way fully back into game shape.
Dec 20, 2024
Set to make season debut
Strus (ankle) is available for Friday's game versus the Bucks, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been upgraded from questionable to available Friday after missing the first 27 games of the season due to a right ankle sprain. While it's unclear if Strus will enter the starting lineup, he will likely operate on a minutes restriction.
Dec 19, 2024
Iffy against Milwaukee
Strus (ankle) is listed as questionable for Friday's game versus the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Strus could make his season debut Friday after missing the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign with a right ankle sprain. If Strus is upgraded to available, he will likely operate on a minutes restriction.
Dec 18, 2024
Goes through practice
Strus (ankle) was a full go at Wednesday's practice, Spencer Davies of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sturs appears to be on track to make his season debut Friday against the Bucks, but his official status won't be known until the Cavaliers release their injury report Thursday afternoon. Strus is someone that fantasy managers need to watch closely for those in need of a boost in three-pointers.
Dec 15, 2024
Still not ready for season debut
Strus (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Grant Afseth of RG.org reported that Strus was expected to make his season debut last Friday against the Wizards, but he was ultimately ruled out and will remain sidelined Monday. There's been no word of a setback, so Strus should be considered day-to-day, with his next chance to suit up coming Friday against Milwaukee.
Dec 12, 2024
Ultimately ruled out Friday
Strus (ankle) won't play in Friday's game versus the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Despite previous reports suggesting that Strus would make his season debut against Washington, he will remain sidelined Friday. However, it appears Strus is nearing a return to action with his next chance to suit up coming in Monday's matchup with Brooklyn.
Dec 10, 2024
Looks set to debut Friday
Strus (ankle) is expected to be cleared to make his season debut in Friday's game against the Wizards, Grant Afseth of RG.org reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been sidelined since the preseason, when he was initially shut down with a hip contusion before suffering a right ankle sprain during the ramp-up process in October. The 28-year-old seems to have made noteworthy progress in his recovery of late, as he had recently been assigned to the G League's Cleveland Charge for practice work before rejoining the Cavaliers. He'll presumably get in some more on-court work over the next few days leading up to Friday's matchup, and if he's cleared to play as expected, Strus will likely be on a minute restriction. Strus started in all 70 of his appearances in 2024-25 and could eventually supplant Isaac Okoro (knee) on the top unit, but a regular 30-plus-minute role may be difficult to come by for Strus once he's free of restrictions. In addition to Okoro, the Cavaliers also have Georges Niang, Sam Merrill, Caris LeVert and Dean Wade on hand in a deep stable of forwards to challenge Strus for playing time.
Dec 8, 2024
Returns to NBA club
The Cavaliers recalled Strus (ankle) from the G League's Cleveland Charge on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Strus was assigned to the G League on Friday and returned to the NBA club Saturday, but the Charge didn't have a game during that span, so the sharpshooter presumably got another practice in. It's unclear how much work Strus was able to do, but this was his second stint with the Charge this week, suggesting he's ramping up for a return to game action. When cleared to make his season debut, Strus will likely face heavy restrictions.
Dec 7, 2024
Assigned to G League squad
Strus (ankle) was assigned to the G League's Cleveland Charge on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to work back from a right ankle injury and figures to join the Charge for practice considering the team doesn't have a game Friday or Saturday. He remains without a timetable for a return.
Dec 1, 2024
Still no return timeline
Coach Kenny Atkinson said Sunday that Strus (ankle) still doesn't have a return timeline, Evan Dammarell of FearTheSword.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus has yet to play this season after spraining his right ankle during a workout ahead of training camp. Given Atkinson's vague timeline, it would be surprising if Strus made his season debut in December. Isaac Okoro continues to start at small forward in Strus' absence.
Nov 30, 2024
Won't play vs. Boston
Strus (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Strus has yet to make his 2024-25 regular-season debut after spraining his right ankle during a workout in mid-October. He'll continue to progress through his recovery, and his next opportunity to see the court will be Tuesday against the Wizards.
Nov 23, 2024
To be re-evaluated in one week
Strus (ankle) will be re-evaluated next week, Ethan Sands of Cleveland.com reported Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Strus suffered a sprained right ankle during a workout in mid-October and was expected to miss a minimum of six weeks. Now five weeks removed from the injury, Strus will wait another week before being re-evaluated. He was spotted at practice Wednesday shooting free throws, but he doesn't appear close to returning.
Oct 19, 2024
Suffers significant setback
Strus (hip) is expected to miss at least six weeks of action due to an ankle sprain he suffered during a workout Thursday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was initially expected to be ready to go for Opening Night while recovering from a hip injury. However, the 28-year-old forward's ankle injury will now likely keep him sidelined until at least early December. In his absence, Isaac Okoro, Caris LeVert and Dean Wade are candidates to receive increased playing time.
Oct 18, 2024
Expected back by Opening Night
Strus (hip) is expected to be ready for game action by Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Raptors, and he is now cleared to participate in on-court, non-contact, full-speed workouts, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will miss the remainder of the preseason due to a hip injury, but he will likely be good to go by Opening Night as the team slowly works him back to playing form. If the 28-year-old is not ready by the opener, Isaac Okoro, Dean Wade and Georges Niang are candidates for more playing time.
Oct 13, 2024
Not practicing, day-to-day
Coach Kenny Atkinson said Strus (hip) didn't practice Sunday and remains day-to-day, Evan Dammarell of FearTheSword.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus suffered a hip injury during Tuesday's preseason opener against the Bulls and was sidelined for Thursday's loss to Indiana. Atkinson added the team is just being cautious with Strus, so the sharpshooter should be available for Opening Night against the Raptors on Oct. 23.
Oct 10, 2024
Sitting Thursday
Strus (hip) won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Pacers, Evan Dammarell of FearTheSword.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will miss Thursday's contest due to a right hip contusion he suffered against Chicago. His next chance to suit up is Wednesday's preseason matchup with Detroit.
Oct 9, 2024
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Strus (hip) did not practice Wednesday in advance of Thursday's preseason contest against Indiana, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is dealing with a right hip contusion suffered in Tuesday's preseason match against Chicago. The 28-year-old's status will need to be monitored.
Oct 8, 2024
Leaves early with hip injury
Strus suffered a right hip contusion during the first half of Tuesday's preseason game against Chicago and will not return, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus accumulated 2 rebounds and an assist in the nine minutes he did play. His next chance to suit up will be Thursday's preseason matchup with Indiana.
May 15, 2024
All-around outing in Game 5 defeat
Strus ended Wednesday's 113-98 loss to the Celtics in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with 12 points (3-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), seven rebounds and nine assists in 45 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Strus did a little bit of everything to help Cleveland come away victorious in Game 5, handing out a team-high-tying assist total to go along with a team-high-tying rebound mark in a near double-double outing. Strus reached double figures in scoring in three of the five games against Boston, adding at least seven rebounds and seven assists in the final two games of the series.
May 13, 2024
Leads from deep in balanced Game 4
Strus provided 15 points (5-12 FG, 5-9 3Pt), seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 43 minutes before fouling out of Monday's 109-102 loss to Boston in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
ANALYSIS
Strus led all players in Monday's contest in threes made while ending as one of four Cavaliers in scoring and handing out a team-high-tying assist total along with a pair of steals. Strus, who also hauled in seven boards, posted a new playoff-high in threes made and notched his second game with 10 or more points in the series against the Celtics.
May 12, 2024
Struggles in Game 3 loss
Strus totaled six points (2-8 FG, 2-6 3Pt), five rebounds and two assists over 37 minutes during Saturday's 106-93 loss to the Celtics in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to deliver nothing but mediocrity, scoring fewer than 15 points for the eighth time in the past nine games, all during the playoffs. If the Cavaliers have any chance of beating the Celtics, they are going to need Strus to rediscover his form from earlier in the season. Based on what we have seen during the postseason, that might be wishful thinking.
Apr 28, 2024
Another quiet outing
Strus produced seven points (3-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt), one rebound, three assists and one steal in 30 minutes during Saturday's 112-89 loss to the Magic in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
ANALYSIS
Strus has failed to score more than seven points in four straight games to start the postseason. He's shooting 38.5 percent from the field during that stretch. Strus grabbed only two rebounds during the two losses in Orlando after totaling 18 boards across the two wins in Cleveland.
Apr 15, 2024
Records first career triple-double
Strus amassed 14 points (5-12 FG, 4-6 3Pt), 10 rebounds and 11 assists in 31 minutes during Sunday's 120-110 loss to the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Strus was more involved in the offense Sunday with Donovan Mitchell (knee), Darius Garland (back) and Caris LeVert (knee) all sitting out of the Cavs' regular-season finale. Strus took advantage of the expanded role as he registered the first triple-double of his career, as well as a career-high 11 assists. He ends his first season in Cleveland averaging 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists over 32.0 minutes per game.
Apr 8, 2024
Season-high nine dimes vs. Clippers
Strus closed with 20 points (5-11 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four rebounds, nine assists and one steal in 39 minutes during Sunday's 120-118 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Strus has recorded six-plus assists in three of his last four games, and he was one assist shy of matching his career high that he set in Jan. of 2023 with the Heat. His 20 points Sunday was the first time since Feb. 27 against the Mavericks that he's reached that mark as he drained four of the Cavaliers' 11 three-point makes. Since returning from an 11-game absence due to a right knee strain, Strus is averaging 13.1 points on 49.2 percent shooting (including 40.5 percent from three)m 4.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.3 steals over 31.1 minutes per game.
Mar 27, 2024
Drills five triples in return
Strus (knee) scored 19 points (7-13 FG, 5-10 3Pt) and added four rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes Wednesday in the Cavaliers' 118-111 loss to the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Making his return from a 12-game absence due to a right knee strain, Strus reclaimed his spot in the starting five while Caris LeVert headed to the bench. Strus didn't take long to get acclimated in his return, as he hit a triple in the game's opening minute and nailed four more over the course of the night to finish second only to Jarrett Allen (24 points) among all Cavaliers players in scoring. The 27-year-old should hold down a starting role on the wing moving forward, but he'll likely lose out on some shot attempts if Donovan Mitchell (nose) is able to rejoin the Cleveland backcourt Friday versus the 76ers.
Mar 27, 2024
Will start Wednesday
Strus (knee) is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Hornets, Serena Winters of Bally Sports Cleveland reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is set to return from a 12-game absence, so he may have his minutes monitored in his first game back. He'll be joined in the first unit by Darius Garland, Isaac Okoro, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, and Caris LeVert will head to the bench.
Mar 26, 2024
Upgraded to questionable
Strus (knee) has been upgraded to questionable for Wednesday's game against Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
Strus ascending to questionable gives him a chance to return from a 12-game absence due to a right knee sprain. Sam Merrill has been an admirable fill-in of late, delivering 10.3 points and knocking down 41.2 percent of 7.3 threes per game across his last seven contests, but Strus would be valued reinforcements while Donovan Mitchell (nose) is amid an extended absence.
Mar 25, 2024
Out again Monday
Strus (knee) won't play Monday against the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Strus will miss his 12th straight game Monday and remains without a timetable for a return. His next chance to play will be Wednesday in a rematch versus Charlotte.
Mar 23, 2024
Another absence coming
Strus (knee) won't play in Sunday's game versus the the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Strus' absence streak will extend to 11 games Sunday due to a right knee strain. His next chance to suit up is Monday's matchup with Charlotte.
Mar 21, 2024
Remains out for Friday's game
Strus (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game against Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Strus will be unavailable for a 10th consecutive game as he continues to deal with a knee injury. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but his next chance to do so will be Sunday against Miami.
Mar 19, 2024
Still out
Strus (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Strus hasn't played since March 3 and will miss a ninth straight game Wednesday. The Cavaliers' injury report continues to grow, with Donovan Mitchell (nose) the latest addition, so Caris LeVert, Isaac Okoro, Georges Niang, Sam Merrill and Marcus Morris are candidates for solid roles behind Darius Garland.
Mar 17, 2024
Will remain out Monday
Strus (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Strus is slated to miss an eighth straight game due to a strained right knee. His next chance to suit up will come Wednesday versus Miami.
Mar 15, 2024
Another absence coming
Strus (knee) won't play in Saturday's game versus the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Strus' absence streak will extend to seven games Saturday due to a strained right knee. His next chance to suit up is Monday's matchup with Indiana.
Mar 12, 2024
Absence to continue Wednesday
Strus (knee) is out for Wednesday's game against New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Strus has not played since March 3 while dealing with a right knee strain. Cleveland has leaned heavily on Isaac Okoro in his stead, with Craig Porter and Sam Merrill settling into 20-plus minute workloads of late since Donovan Mitchell (knee) is also amid a multi-game absence.
Mar 11, 2024
Won't play Monday
Strus (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Strus will miss a fifth straight game due to a right knee strain. Coach J.B. Bickerstaff said over the weekend that the sharpshooter's injury is just wear and tear from a long season, but the Cavaliers will likely remain cautious. Strus hadn't missed a game before this string of absences, and he's averaging 32.2 minutes per night across 60 appearances. His next chance to suit up will come Wednesday in New Orleans.
Mar 9, 2024
Another absence coming
Strus (knee) won't play in Saturday's game versus the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Strus' absence streak will extend to four games Saturday due to a right knee strain. Georges Niang will likely continue to start in his absence. Strus' next chance to suit up is Monday's matchup with Phoenix.
Mar 7, 2024
Ruled out for Friday
Strus (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game versus Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Friday will mark the third straight game on the sidelines for Strus, and with Cleveland's next two games coming as a Sunday-Monday, back-to-back set, it wouldn't be shocking to see him miss at least one more game moving forward. Dean Wade and Sam Merrill will continue to benefit in Strus' absence.
Mar 6, 2024
Ruled out for Wednesday
Strus will not play in Wednesday's game versus the Hawks due to a right knee strain.
ANALYSIS
Strus will miss his second game in a row Wednesday, and it's still unclear how severe the injury is. With Donovan Mitchell (knee) still sidelined, the Cavaliers will need the likes of Sam Merrill, Caris LeVert and Craig Porter to step up.
Mar 4, 2024
Dealing with knee strain
Strus has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Celtics due to a right knee strain.
ANALYSIS
Tuesday's matchup is the first half of a back-to-back set, so this may be a maintenance day for the sharpshooter, who has yet to miss a game this season and is averaging 32.2 minutes per game. However, with Donovan Mitchell (knee) out for the next few games at least and Caris LeVert (elbow) and Isaac Okoro (elbow) listed as questionable, the Cavaliers' depth is going to be tested versus Boston regardless. Strus' next chance to suit up will come Wednesday in Atlanta.
Feb 28, 2024
Plays hero Tuesday
Strus ended with 21 points (7-12 FG, 7-10 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists and two blocks over 26 minutes during Tuesday's 121-119 win over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Five of his three-points came in the last four minutes of the game, including a ridiculous buzzer-beater from about 60 feet away to steal the win for the Cavaliers. It's the first time Strus has produced 20 or more points since Feb. 5, while the seven treys tied his season high, set back in Cleveland's opener. The fifth-year forward's contributions have been somewhat erratic of late, however -- he's scored in single digits in four of the last 10 games, averaging 11.7 points, 4.2 assists, 3.8 boards and 2.1 threes over that stretch.
Feb 15, 2024
Quite in victory Wednesday
Strus ended Wednesday's 108-105 victory over the Bulls with seven points (3-8 FG, 1-6 3Pt), three rebounds, three assists and one steal over 30 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Strus offered up very little in the win, scoring fewer than 15 points for the fifth consecutive game. After a red-hot start to the season, Strus has been trending downward in the past month, sitting outside the top 140 in that time. He remains a fringe option in 12-team leagues, although managers are likely better off streaming his spot heading into the fantasy playoffs.
Feb 6, 2024
Emergent performance
Strus ended with 22 points (8-13 FG, 6-10 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and two steals across 26 minutes during Monday's 136-110 win over the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Strus posted his first game exceeding 15 points since Jan. 3, notching his eighth 20-point game of the season in total. The 27-year-old has slightly underwhelmed as a shooting weapon this season, but his 36.0 percent clip on catch-and-shoot attempts is more palatable compared to 22.0 percent shooting on 41 off-the-dribble threes. Strus has connected on 40.4 percent of his threes across 24 games with Darius Garland in the lineup, so he seems to benefit from Cleveland's dual-creation in the backcourt.
Feb 2, 2024
Double-double in Memphis
Strus registered 11 points (4-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds, four assists and one steal over 29 minutes during Thursday's 108-101 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
It's the fourth double-double of the season for Strus, adding to his career-best total. The fifth-year forward saw his usage shrink in January but he's still scored in double digits in six of the last games, averaging 10.7 points, 5.6 boards, 3.7 assists, 1.7 threes and 1.1 steals over that stretch.
Jan 25, 2024
Solid contributions Wednesday
Strus contributed 14 points (6-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 34 minutes during Wednesday's 126-116 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Strus posted his third consecutive game with double-digit scoring, although he had been extremely quiet through seven January contests prior, failing to exceed nine points on six occasions. The 27-year-old delivering inconsistent and underwhelming production in the context of Darius Garland's (jaw) extended absence is discouraging. Sam Merrill has stepped up as an equal contributor to Strus of late.
Jan 15, 2024
Active and starting Monday
Strus (knee) has been cleared to play and is in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Strus was battling lingering knee soreness from Thursday's loss to Brooklyn in Paris, but he's officially active Monday. He is joined by Donovan Mitchell, Isaac Okoro, Dean Wade and Jarrett Allen in the starting lineup.
Jan 15, 2024
Participates in shootaround
Strus (knee), who is questionable for Monday's game against the Bulls, participated in Cleveland's morning shootaround, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus suffered a knee injury Thursday against the Nets, but his participation in Monday's morning shootaround is a positive sign for his availability against Chicago. However, the Cavaliers will likely see how he fares following the shootaround before determining his status for Monday's game.
Jan 14, 2024
Questionable to play Monday
Strus (knee) is questionable for Monday's game against Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Strus exited Thursday's game due to right knee soreness, although there was no clear incident that caused the injury. Carrying a questionable designation coming off three days of rest is notable, however, making his status murky for Monday's game.
Jan 11, 2024
Unlikely to return Thursday
Strus is doubtful to return to Thursday's game versus the Nets due to right knee soreness, Cayleigh Griffin of Bally Sports Cleveland reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus recorded no stats in seven minutes before exiting Thursday's contest. With him likely out for the remainder of the game, Sam Merrill, Georges Niang and Caris LeVert are candidates to receive increased playing time.
Jan 3, 2024
Strong from deep to boost offense
Strus totaled 24 points (9-13 FG, 6-8 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 140-101 win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Strus led all players in Wednesday's game in threes made while leading the Cavaliers in scoring and ending as one of three players with 20 or more points in a blowout win. Strus has connected on five or more threes in seven games this year, surpassing the 20-point mark on seven occasions.
Dec 24, 2023
Cleared to launch
Strus posted 26 points (9-22 FG, 5-17 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound, seven assists, one block and two steals in 41 minutes during Saturday's 109-95 win over Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Strus bombed away en route to a career-high 17 three-point attempts. No player has attempted more than 18 threes in a game this season, but Strus' firepower was needed Saturday with Darius Garland (jaw), Donovan Mitchell (illness), Evan Mobley (knee), and Caris LeVert (knee) all inactive. Notably, his middling efficiency aligns with his inability to self-create this season, as Strus is connecting on just 28.6 percent of his dribble jumpers.
Dec 17, 2023
Solid despite cold shooting
Strus had 11 points (4-13 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal across 34 minutes during Saturday's 127-119 win over the Hawks. He also had just one turnover.
ANALYSIS
Strus has stepped into a large role across Cleveland's last five games, averaging 32.4 minutes per night. He's slumped to the tune of 9-for-39 shooting from beyond the arc over that span, but his shooting gravity and two-way play will be needed alongside Donovan Mitchell in Darius Garland's (jaw) absence. Strus is knocking down 36.5 percent of his catch-and-shoot threes this season.
Dec 13, 2023
Flirts with double-double Tuesday
Strus posted 17 points (6-15 FG, 5-11 3Pt), nine rebounds and three assists in 37 minutes during Tuesday's 120-113 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Strus fell just one rebound short of a double-double, another in a long line of strong performances. Although his shooting has regressed of late, he continues to chip in across other categories. His efficiency should level out sooner rather than later, likely seeing him remain a borderline top-80 asset moving forward.
Dec 9, 2023
Ice cold in win
Strus amassed 11 points (4-17 FG, 2-11 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and one steal across 34 minutes during Friday's 111-99 win over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Strus accounted for nine of the Cavalier's 24 missed three-point attempts Friday night. He still managed to reach double-digit points for the sixth time in seven games and is averaging career highs in rebounds (5.5), assists (4.1) and minutes (35.1) as his role continues to expand.
Dec 3, 2023
Goes off for 22 points
Strus posted 22 points (9-16 FG, 4-10 3Pt), five rebounds, five assists and one steal across 38 minutes during Saturday's 110-101 win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Strus' production has been a bit of a rollercoaster lately, although there's been far more ups than downs this season. Strus is on pace to return fifth-round fantasy value in nine-category leagues with averages of 14.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.9 three-pointers on 43.9 percent shooting from the field and 82.6 percent from the line.
Nov 27, 2023
Puts up 20 points
Strus recorded 20 points (8-16 FG, 4-9 3Pt), 11 rebounds, five assists and one block in 37 minutes during Sunday's 105-102 victory over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
This line is particularly impressive when you consider that the Cavaliers were at full strength Sunday, as Darius Garland played through a neck strain and Donovan Mitchell played in both games of this back-to-back set. Strus is known for his elite three-point shooting, but his playmaking ability has turned a lot of heads recently. He has averaged 3.8 assists per game this season, and he has recorded at least five assists in five out of 17 games.
Nov 22, 2023
Puts up 20 points in OT win
Strus contributed 20 points (7-15 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and two steals in 44 minutes during Tuesday's 122-119 overtime win over the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been stepping his game up with Donovan Mitchell (hamstring) sidelined for the last few games, and he has embraced the more prominent role by attempting double-digit shots in four of his previous five appearances. He's averaging 16.4 points per game while shooting 42.5 percent from deep in that span. His starting role is set in stone, but he's expected to regress in scoring once Mitchell is back in the mix.
Nov 18, 2023
Busy hands in Friday's win
Strus posted 18 points (7-15 FG, 4-8 3Pt), seven rebounds, three assists, one block and four steals across 39 minutes during Friday's 108-100 victory over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
The four steals were a season high for Strus, who has quickly become a key secondary contributor for the Cavaliers since coming over from the Heat in the offseason. The 27-year-old forward has scored in double digits in seven straight games, averaging 14.9 points, 5.0 boards, 3.6 assists, 2.9 threes and 1.3 steals over that stretch while shooting 50.6 percent from the floor and 40.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Nov 16, 2023
Doles out seven assists
Strus finished with 14 points (5-12 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), seven assists, three rebounds and one steal across 37 minutes in Wednesday's 109-95 win over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
With Darius Garland (neck) sidelined Wednesday, Strus stepped in to fill some of the playmaking void and set a new season high in assists in the process. He was prone to some sloppiness, however, as Strus also turned the ball over five times. Strus' assists counts will likely trend down whenever Garland returns to the lineup, but the former should be worthy of a back-end roster spot in most 12-team leagues while he continues to receive 30-plus minutes on a nightly basis. In shallower leagues, Strus can be viewed as a strong streaming option for three-pointers, as he's averaging 2.7 per game through 11 appearances.
Nov 14, 2023
Drill five threes in loss
Strus racked up 19 points (7-12 FG, 5-9 3Pt), five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 34 minutes during Monday's 132-120 loss to Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Strus' proficiency from long range is well-documented, and he flexed that muscle one again during Monday's loss. He's averaging a career-high 7.9 three-point attempts per game with his new team, mostly due to his first opportunity as a full-time starter.
Nov 12, 2023
Sharp shooting in victory
Strus notched 16 points (6-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, four assists and one steal across 33 minutes during Saturday's 118-110 win over Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Strus got most of his shots to fall and logged a solid secondary contribution in the win. Getting 30-plus minutes on a regular basis has been a luxury since joining the Cavs, as his usage with the Heat would vary game-by-game. He's still being used as the starting option over Caris LeVert, who is going off as the team's sixth man.
Nov 7, 2023
Plays well in win
Strus recorded 15 points (6-13 FG, 3-10 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists and one steal over 36 minutes during Sunday's 115-104 victory over Golden State.
ANALYSIS
This was an impressive line, especially considering that the Cavaliers are healthy again. Strus has started all seven games this season, compiling averages of 13.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.6 three-pointers.
Oct 28, 2023
Notches double-double in loss
Strus ended Saturday's 125-113 loss to the Pacers with 21 points (7-20 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 11 rebounds and six assists in 42 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Strus didn't have a particularly efficient shooting night, but was able to contribute on the boards and in the passing game while limiting his turnovers. His 42 minutes played was the most of the season and it seems like he'll be playing a lot of minutes to begin the season. Strus and the Cavs will face the Knicks on Tuesday in the first of a home-and-home series.
Oct 26, 2023
Big night in Cavs debut
Strus finished Wednesday's 114-113 win over Brooklyn with 27 points (9-17 FG, 7-13 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 39 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Shifting into a frontcourt role with Jarrett Allen (ankle) unavailable for Cleveland's season opener, Strus made an immediate impact for his new club as he led the Cavs in boards and threes while tying Donovan Mitchell for the team lead in scoring. Strus didn't post numbers anything close to this on average in Miami, and while he won't maintain quite this pace, a career-best campaign could be in the works as he provides a strong complementary piece behind Mitchell and Evan Mobley.
Oct 20, 2023
Returns to lineup
Strus (rest) is in the starting five for Friday's preseason game versus the Pacers, Serena Winters of Bally Sports Cleveland reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is set to play in Cleveland's preseason finale after missing the previous game for rest purposes. Strus is in line to be the Cavaliers' starting small forward this season.
Oct 16, 2023
Won't play Monday
Strus has been ruled out for Monday's game against Israeli club Maccabi Ra'anana for rest purposes, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will get a night off for Cleveland's penultimate preseason game, along with the rest of the team's starters. However, the Cavaliers plan to use the first three quarters of Friday's preseason finale as a dress rehearsal, so Strus should have an opportunity to see considerable playing time.
Oct 15, 2023
Active in loss
Strus delivered 13 points (4-8 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, five assists and one steal in 24 minutes of action during Thursday's 108-105 preseason loss to Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Strus also logged five turnovers and four fouls. Strus is on track to be Cleveland's starting small forward, but at just 6-foot-5 he could be taxed when facing bigger wings. Nonetheless, he should be a smooth fit offensively with upside to help facilitate in second units.
Oct 2, 2023
Expects to start this year
Strus said Monday that he expects to serve as a starter to begin the 2023-24 campaign, Evan Dammarell of FearTheSword.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was traded from the Heat to the Cavaliers at the beginning of July after starting in 33 of 80 appearances with Miami last year. Although the Cavaliers also have Isaac Okoro and Caris LeVert on the wing, Strus has a strong case for a starting role after averaging 11.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 28.4 minutes per game during the 2022-23 season.
Jul 1, 2023
Dealt to Cleveland
The Cavaliers signed Strus to a four-year, $63 million sign-and-trade in a three-team deal with the Heat and Spurs on Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
In the trade, the Heat receive a second-round pick and the Spurs obtain Cedi Osman, Lamar Stevens and a second-round pick. Strus averaged 11.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 28.4 minutes across 80 games in 2022-23 on 41.0/35.0/87.6 shooting splits for Miami. Strus will likely compete for a starting job at small forward, and the Cavaliers will hope his outside shooting reverts to his 2021-22 campaign, where he converted on 41.0 percent of his 6.5 three-point attempts per contest.
Jun 13, 2023
Struggles from deep in Game 5
Strus finished with 12 points (5-12 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one block in 32 minutes during Monday's 94-89 loss to Denver in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
ANALYSIS
Strus shot just 23.3 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from deep during the Finals. It was a disappointing end for the sharpshooter, who had been a steady contributor during Miami's first three playoff series (10.3 points with 45/35/81 shooting splits). The undrafted product out of DePaul is set to be a free agent this summer, but it wouldn't be surprising if the two sides had mutual interest in a return.
Jun 5, 2023
Lights up from long range in win
Strus chipped in 14 points (4-10 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 2-3 FT), two rebounds, six assists and one block in 29 minutes during Sunday's 111-108 win over Denver in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.
ANALYSIS
After going a dreadful 0-for-9 beyond the arc in Game 1, Strus' stroke caught fire in the second game of the series. Strus joined Duncan Robinson as part of a scoring barrage that erased Denver's huge advantage heading into the final stanza. Caleb Martin had stolen a bit of Strus' thunder throughout the playoffs, but with Martin a step slower due to a non-COVID illness, Strus played 29 minutes and picked up the slack. Strus was the hero of the play-in bracket with eight threes in the win over the Bulls, and he can be dangerous if his shot is dialed in.
May 28, 2023
Scores in double figures
Strus posted 10 points (3-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), one rebound and three assists in 25 minutes during Saturday's 104-103 loss to the Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
ANALYSIS
After totaling just 12 points over the previous two matchups, Strus found his shooting stroke again and scored in double figures for the fourth time during the Eastern Conference Finals. Across 17 postseason matchups thus far, the undrafted product out of DePaul has averaged 10.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 29.0 minutes per game.
May 17, 2023
Provides spark in comeback win
Strus notched 15 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt) and three rebounds across 34 minutes during Wednesday's 123-116 win over the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
ANALYSIS
Strus finished as one of four Heat starters with 15 or more points in Wednesday's Game 1 win, notching 13 of his 15 points in the second half to help fuel the second-half comeback for Miami. Strus has connected on three or more threes in seven of his 12 playoff appearances while surpassing the 15-point mark in four contests.
May 8, 2023
Leads from deep in 16-point game
Strus closed Monday's 109-101 victory over the Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with 16 points (6-13 FG, 4-10 3Pt), six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 37 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Strus connected on a team-high mark from three while finishing as one of three Heat starters with 15 or more points in Monday's Game 4 win. Strus has finished with at least 15 points with three or more threes in three straight games.
May 6, 2023
Goes for 19 points in Game 3
Strus registered 19 points (7-14 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, one block and one steal in 30 minutes during Saturday's 105-86 victory over the Knicks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
ANALYSIS
Strus has thrived as a secondary scoring threat for the Heat, and he's now surpassed the 15-point mark in back-to-back contests, something he hadn't done since the Play-In Tournament game against the Bulls where he exploded for 31 points. Strus is also shooting 38.4 percent from three-point range in the playoffs.
Apr 23, 2023
Scores 12 points in win
Strus chipped in 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt) and one steal over 23 minutes during Saturday's 121-99 win over the Bucks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Strus has started all three games of the opening-round series, but he played just 23 minutes Saturday after seeing 38 and 31, respectively, in the first two matchups. Despite playing fewer minutes, Strus actually scored his most points of the series, but he failed to make an impact in the other categories. Strus is capable of huge offensive explosions, evident by his 31-point outing in the Play-In Game versus Chicago, but he's certainly a streaky shooter.
Apr 14, 2023
Catches fire in victory
Strus ended with 31 points (8-16 FG, 7-12 3Pt, 8-8 FT), six rebounds and one steal in 36 minutes during Friday's 102-91 play-in game victory over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Strus put on a show in the first half of Friday's victory, scoring 23 of his game-high 31 points. Going 7-of-12 from the three-point line, Strus kept the Heat close enough, especially when the Bulls went on a run early in the second half. Set to face the Bucks in the first round of the playoffs, Strus will need to maintain this momentum if they are to cause a huge boilover.
Apr 11, 2023
Good to go Tuesday
Strus (finger) will be available for Tuesday's Play-In matchup against the Hawks, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Strus has been upgraded from probable to available and will presumably remain in Miami's starting lineup versus Atlanta. The undrafted wing out of DePaul started the Heat's final five regular-season games and scored in double figures three times during that stretch.
Apr 10, 2023
Likely to play Tuesday
Strus (finger) is probable for Tuesday's Play-In matchup against Atlanta, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus has suited up despite his finger injury recently, and it appears as though he'll be available for the start of the Play-In Tournament. He's started the last five matchups, averaging 10.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 24.0 minutes per game.
Apr 9, 2023
Available to play Sunday
Strus (finger) is available to play Sunday against the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been playing through the issue in recent games and that won't change Sunday. Considering head coach Erik Spoelstra said the starters will see a reduced workload, per Will Manso of Local 10 Miami, Strus could be in line to see decent minutes against Orlando. He's averaging 11.4 points per game over his last 10 outings.
Apr 8, 2023
Likely to go Sunday
Strus is probable for Sunday's game against the Magic with a hyperextended second right finger.
ANALYSIS
Strus pops up on the injury report for the Heat's regular-season finale with a finger issue but appears likely to play through the issue. With the Heat injury report rather lengthy, Strus could be thrust into a massive role if active.
Apr 8, 2023
Struggles from field in loss
Strus had 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt), three rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes during Friday's 114-108 loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Strus ended up being available despite dealing with a finger issue. That might have been the cause of his poor shooting display in a game the Heat lost against an already-eliminated Wizards team. With Miami set to feature in the play-in tournament, it remains to be seen if Strus will be available for the regunar-season finale Sunday against the Magic.
Apr 7, 2023
Set to play against Washington
Strus (finger) is available for Friday's game versus the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been upgraded from questionable to available Friday despite dealing with a finger issue. With Tyler Herro (quadriceps) and Jimmy Butler (hand) out, Strus will likely receive extended playing time.
Apr 7, 2023
On track to play Friday
Strus (finger) will warm up with the intention of playing in Friday's game against the Wizards, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is officially listed as questionable, but it appears he's trending more toward probable. With Jimmy Butler (hand), Bam Adebayo (quadriceps), Kevin Love (ribs) and Tyler Herro (quadriceps) all out, Strus, if cleared, should be in Miami' starting lineup and see increased usage versus Washington.
Apr 7, 2023
Tabbed as questionable Friday
Strus (finger) sports a questionable designation for Friday's game versus the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
With the Heat all but locked into the seventh seed, many of the team's regulars are taking the night off Friday. While Strus hasn't been ruled out at this juncture, he joins Tyler Herro (quad) and Kevin Love (ribs) with questionable designations. Should Strus ultimately suit up, he would likely garner additional usage with Jimmy Butler (hand) and Bam Adebayo (quad) ruled out, though that would depend on how many minutes he's allotted.
Apr 2, 2023
Drills six triples in spot start
Strus ended Saturday's 129-122 win over Dallas with 18 points (6-11 FG, 6-9 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist across 30 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Strus did his thing Saturday, connecting on six three-pointers, and logging 30 minutes as a member of the starting five. While this may only be a temporary move, anyone who streamed him in has to be thrilled with what he was able to deliver. It is unclear just how minutes he will get moving forward but as has been the case for much of the season, Strus remains a viable stream consideration for anyone needing perimeter scoring.
Apr 1, 2023
Starting Saturday
Strus will start Saturday's game against the Mavericks, Wes Goldberg of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is getting the nod over Kevin Love, which will be the latter's first time coming off the bench since joining Miami. In 28 starts this season, Strus has averaged 14.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 34.3 minutes.
Mar 30, 2023
Gets in early foul trouble
Strus ended Wednesday's 101-92 loss to the Knicks with no counting stats over three minutes.
ANALYSIS
Strus picked up three fouls in just three minutes Wednesday, lending Duncan Robinson the opportunity to play 28 minutes. However, it doesn't seem like Robinson will overtake him in the rotation. Strus was averaging 12.4 points on a 41.7 three-point percentage in his previous five outings.
Mar 26, 2023
Scores 23 points off bench
Strus contributed 23 points (9-14 FG, 5-9 3Pt), five rebounds and two assists over 34 minutes during Saturday's 129-100 loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to come off the bench since the acquisition of Kevin Love, but the former has been a more reliable producer than the ladder of late. The undrafted sharpshooter out of DePaul is averaging 14.2 points, 2.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 30.8 minutes over his past five appearances and is shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 41.0 percent from deep during that stretch.
Mar 19, 2023
Explodes for 20 points off bench
Strus had 20 points (7-16 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes during Saturday's 113-99 loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Strus wasn't all that efficient from the field but still managed to top the 20-point mark for the first time since Feb. 13, when he posted 23 points as a starter in a loss to Denver. The sharpshooter has now played at least 30 minutes in back-to-back contests since seeing only seven minutes in a four-point win over Utah on March 13. As long as he's garnering this type of playing time, Strus can be a reliable fantasy asset, but his sporadic role makes him difficult to trust in the long run.
Mar 11, 2023
Scores 14 points off bench
Strus accumulated 14 points (5-8 FG, 4-7 3Pt), three rebounds, three assists and one block across 26 minutes during Friday's 119-115 win over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Strus made his presence felt off the bench and scored in double digits for the first time since March 1, as his recent outings had been subpar at best. Over his last 10 games, the sharpshooter is averaging 8.9 points per game while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and a meager 32.1 percent from deep.
Mar 6, 2023
Starting Monday
Strus is starting Monday's contest against the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
After six straight games coming off the bench, Strus will officially make his 28th start of the season Monday. Across the DePaul product's first 27 contests while acting as a starter, Strus is averaging 14.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists over 34.7 minutes per game.
Mar 2, 2023
Scores 13 points off bench
Strus produced 13 points (5-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes during Wednesday's 119-96 loss to Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
The Heat struggled massively on offense in this 23-point loss to the 76ers, but Strus was one of the few bright spots, mainly since he came off the bench to record his sixth double-digit scoring performance over his last eight outings. Strus is settled in his role as a scoring threat off the bench, but he's averaging just 11.7 points per game while shooting 40.4 percent from the field since the start of February. Those figures aren't exactly appealing for fantasy purposes, though he's still productive enough to be rostered in most formats.
Mar 1, 2023
Good to go Wednesday
Strus (ankle) will be available for Wednesday's game versus the 76ers, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus moved from questionable to probable earlier in the day Wednesday, so he seemed to be trending in the right direction ahead of the opening tip. Strus should claim his usual role as a key bench contributor and is coming off a 13-point effort against the Sixers over 24 minutes last time out.
Mar 1, 2023
Upgraded to probable
Strus (ankle) has been upgraded to probable for Wednesday's game against Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Strus was initially questionable for Wednesday's matchup due to his sore right ankle, but he's trending in the right direction ahead of tipoff. He's come off the bench in his last three appearances and has averaged 6.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 23.3 minutes per game across that span.
Feb 28, 2023
Nabs questionable tag
Strus is questionable for Wednesday's game versus Philadelphia due to right ankle soreness, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is questionable to miss his first game since Nov. 25 on Wednesday. Duncan Robinson, Victor Oladipo and Caleb Martin are candidates to receive extended minutes in his potential absence.
Feb 24, 2023
Returns to bench
Strus isn't in the starting five for Friday's game versus Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Strus will be replaced by Tyler Herro in the starting lineup Friday. The 26-year-old forward is averaging 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 34.2 minutes across his last five games.
Feb 14, 2023
Scores 23 with 20 shots
Strus provided 23 points (8-20 FG, 4-14 3Pt, 3-5 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal over 42 minutes during Monday's 112-108 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Tyler Herro (knee) and Victor Oladipo (ankle) were both out against the Nuggets, so Strus entered the starting unit and didn't disappoint. The former DePaul standout has scored in double digits in five of his last six outings, and it remains to be seen if he'll be a starter when the Heat takes on the Nets in their final game before the All-Star break.
Feb 13, 2023
Available Monday
Strus (shoulder) is available Monday against the Nuggets, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was probable ahead of Monday's matchup and will be able to suit up despite his right shoulder irritation. Tyler Herro (knee) and Victor Oladipo (ankle) are both out against the Nuggets, so Strus will enter the starting lineup and should continue to see increased run after averaging 36.5 minutes per game over his last two appearances.
Feb 12, 2023
Likely available Monday
Strus is probable for Monday's matchup against Denver due to right shoulder irritation.
ANALYSIS
Strus has dealt with the shoulder issue throughout the campaign, but he hasn't missed a contest since Nov. 25. His official availability likely won't be known until closer to Monday's 7:30 p.m. ET tip, but it doesn't seem like he's in any danger of missing the contest. He's operated off the bench in eight straight games, totaling 10.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 25.4 minutes during that stretch.
Feb 12, 2023
Minutes on rise
Strus finished Saturday's 107-103 win overtime victory over the Magic with 12 points (4-12 FG, 4-11 3Pt), seven assists and four rebounds.
ANALYSIS
Strus ended up playing 30-plus minutes in both ends of the Heat's Friday and Saturday back-to-back set, with the continued absence of Victor Oladipo (ankle) affording Strus some additional opportunities off the bench. Though the Heat aren't ruling Oladipo out from playing in either of the Heat's final two games before the All-Star break, Strus shouldn't be in store for too steep of a downgrade in playing time even if Oladipo manages to suit up for at least one of those contest.
Feb 3, 2023
Pops for 17 points in loss
Strus had 17 points (5-9 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and one assist in 29 minutes during Thursday's 106-104 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Strus dropped five triples en route to 17 points, only the second time he has scored more than 16 points in the past 11 games. While this was certainly a solid performance, the fact Victor Oladipo (ankle) was out needs to be factored in. As long as the Heat are relatively healthy, Strus should be viewed as nothing more than a situational streamer for anyone needing perimeter production.
Jan 27, 2023
Cleared for action
Strus (shoulder) is available for Friday's game against the Magic, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was considered probable due to shoulder irritation, so it's not surprising to see him available for a 30th straight game. After back-to-back scoreless outings off the bench, Strus was reinserted into the starting lineup Tuesday and posted 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals. However, with the majority of Miami's regulars available, Strus figures to revert to a bench role Friday. Across 22 games as a reserve, he's averaged 10.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 26.4 minutes.
Jan 26, 2023
Probable against Orlando
Strus is probable for Friday's game against the Magic due to shoulder irritation, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus drew the start Tuesday against Boston and tallied 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals and an assist in 37 minutes, but he's banged up ahead of Friday's matchup. He'll likely be available against Orlando, but it's not yet clear whether he'll retain a starting role.
Jan 21, 2023
Fails to score in loss
Strus recorded zero points (0-5 FG, 0-5 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist across 24 minutes during Friday's 115-90 loss to the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Friday's blowout loss marked the first time all season that Strus has failed to score. His role has fluctuated due to the Heat's injuries, but he's been one of the most reliable sources of three-pointers in the NBA, ranking 17th in total makes. Before Friday's dud, Strus scored double figures across seven consecutive contests.
Jan 19, 2023
Posts another strong effort
Strus closed with 16 points (6-13 FG, 4-10 3Pt), two rebounds and 10 assists over 27 minutes during Wednesday's 124-98 victory over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Strus scored 12 of his 16 points from beyond the arc, and he ended the night tied for the team lead in points off the bench. He's put up double figures in seven straight games regardless of whether he started or came off the bench, and he's averaging 14.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists over this span.
Jan 16, 2023
Back to bench
Strus isn't starting Monday's game against the Hawks, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will come off the bench with Tyler Herro (Achilles) back in the starting lineup following a three-game absence. As a reserve this season (18 games), Strus has averaged 11.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 27.1 minutes, so he'll likely still see a sizable role against Atlanta.
Jan 13, 2023
Secures first double-double
Strus finished with 12 points (5-13 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 10 rebounds and four assists across 41 minutes during Thursday's 108-102 win over Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Strus notched his first double-digit rebounding performance of the 2022-23 campaign, which also resulted in his first double-double. However, he couldn't quite find his shooting touch from three. Strus has put up 10 or more points in seven of his last eight games, averaging 14.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals over this stretch.
Jan 10, 2023
Balanced game in return as starter
Strus logged 22 points (8-19 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one steal across 42 minutes during Tuesday's 112-111 win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Strus returned to the starting lineup after coming off the bench Sunday, finishing as one of two Heat players to score 20 or more points while finishing two rebounds short of a double-double. Strus has tallied at least 20 points and five rebounds on four occasions this year.
Jan 10, 2023
Rejoins starting five
Strus will start Tuesday's game against the Thunder, iIra Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old came off the bench Sunday against the Nets but will rejoin the starting lineup Tuesday for his 22nd start of the campaign. Strus is averaging 14.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 33.0 minutes as a starter this season and should have a similar workload versus Oklahoma City with Kyle Lowry (knee) and Tyler Herro (Achilles) unavailable.
Jan 8, 2023
Back to bench Sunday
Strus will come off the bench Sunday against the Nets, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will revert to his usual bench role with Tyler Herro returning from a one-game absence due to back spasms. As a reserve (17 games), Strus has averaged 11.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 27.1 minutes.
Jan 6, 2023
Starting Friday
Strus will start Friday's contest against the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Strus will start in place of Tyler Herro, who's been ruled out after experiencing back spasms. As a starter (20 games), Strus has averaged 14.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 32.8 minutes.
Jan 2, 2023
Back in bench role
Strus will come off the bench Monday night against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Strus drew a spot start Saturday night against the Jazz, but he'll return to a bench role Monday with Caleb Martin (quad) cleared to play. Strus put up 19 points in 33 minutes Friday in his last game as a reserve.
Dec 31, 2022
Starting Saturday
Strus will join the starting five for Saturday's game against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Strus will enter the first unit with both Jimmy Butler (rest) and Caleb Martin (quad) sidelined for the contest. In 19 starts this season Strus has averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists across 33.0 minutes per game.
Dec 28, 2022
Returns to bench
Strus isn't in the starting lineup for Wednesday's matchup with the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Jimmy Butler will replace Strus in the starting five Wednesday. The 26-year-old forward is averaging 10.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 25.5 minutes across his last six games.
Dec 27, 2022
Puts up 19 points in win
Strus contributed 19 points (7-12 FG, 5-10 3Pt) and three rebounds across 25 minutes during Monday's 113-110 victory over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
The Heat were quite shorthanded in this game due to the absences of players such as Jimmy Butler (ankle) and Bam Adebayo (illness), but they still got the job done and Strus played a big role on offense due to his efficiency as a shooter. Strus stepped his game up and reached the 15-point mark for the first time this month, and while this outing was certainly a step in the right direction, it's worth noting that Strus is still averaging just 8.7 points per game while shooting a meager 33.6 percent from the field across 12 December contests.
Dec 26, 2022
Moves back to starting five
Strus is starting Monday against the Timberwolves, Alan Horton of the Timberwolves Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus returns to the lineup as Miami will field a 13th different starting unit due to a plethora of absences. He has been struggling with his shot in December, failing to score more than 12 points in any game this month and making just 30.7 percent of his field goals across 11 appearances.
Dec 23, 2022
Not starting Friday
Strus will come off the bench Friday against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Strus benefitted from the absence of Caleb Martin and Jimmy Butler in the team's most recent contest, but with the team largely healthy he will return to the bench.
Dec 21, 2022
Ice-cold shooting performance
Strus chipped in four points (1-9 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds and six assists over 29 minutes during Tuesday's 113-103 loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Strus couldn't buy a made field goal Tuesday, but he did dish out a season-high six assists. Over his past four games (all starts), he's averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 26.8 minutes per game, though he's shooting just 34.1 percent from the field and 22.6 from distance. Strus will likely revert to a reserve role when Kyle Lowry (knee), Gabe Vincent (knee), Caleb Martin (ankle) and Jimmy Butler (illness) return to action.
Dec 17, 2022
Set to play Saturday
Strus (shoulder) is good to go for Saturday's game versus the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Strus was deemed probable on the initial injury report, so his announced availability seemed the likely outcome. He could see additional minutes again Saturday with Caleb Martin (ankle) expected to miss and Kyle Lowry (knee) and Gabe Vincent (knee) already ruled out.
Dec 16, 2022
Likely available Saturday
Strus (shoulder) is probable for Saturday's matchup against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to be listed as probable with a shoulder injury but has appeared in 10 straight games (five starts). During that stretch, the sharpshooter has averaged 10.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 27.3 minutes per game.
Dec 16, 2022
Needs 14 shots to score 12 points
Strus racked up 12 points (5-14 FG, 2-11 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds and five assists across 33 minutes during Thursday's 111-108 victory over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro carried the Heat to victory in this game, but Strus delivered a decent stat line off the bench, even if his shooting numbers were inefficient. Strus' splits have looked contrasting when comparing his performances as a starter and as a bench option. While he's scored in double digits in each of his last six starts, he's posted single-digit figures in his previous five outings off the bench. He's averaging just 7.9 points per game while shooting 31.5 percent from the field in December, so fantasy managers shouldn't be happy with his recent outings.
Dec 15, 2022
Active as expected
Strus (shoulder) will play in Thursday's tilt with the Rockets, Jackson Gatlin of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will receive a second straight start with Kyle Lowry (rest) out for the contest. However, Jimmy Butler (knee) and Tyler Herro (ankle) will also be active and are expected to command the majority of the offensive load. Strus is still a solid streaming option and has averaged 13.5 points and 2.8 3PM in 31.6 minutes per game this season.
Dec 15, 2022
Listed probable Thursday
Strus is considered probable for Thursday's game versus the Rockets despite a right shoulder impingement.
ANALYSIS
Strus has held a probable designation for weeks at this point and hasn't missed a game since Nov. 25, so there is little reason to anticipate anything different Thursday. Strus could also be in for healthy minutes, with numerous others potentially sitting out.
Dec 14, 2022
Will start Wednesday
Strus (shoulder) is in the starting five for Wednesday's matchup with the shoulder.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been upgraded from probable to available Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement. The 26-year-old forward will replace Jimmy Butler (knee) in the starting five against the Thunder.
Dec 13, 2022
Likely to play against Thunder
Strus is probable to play in Wednesday's matchup with the Thunder due to a right shoulder impingement.
ANALYSIS
Strus is expected to play Wednesday along with Tyler Herro (ankle), Duncan Robinson (ankle) and Victor Oladipo (knee). The 26-year-old guard will likely contend with Caleb Martin for a starting spot against the Thunder due to Jimmy Butler's (knee) absence.
Dec 12, 2022
Leads team from deep off bench
Strus accumulated nine points (3-12 FG, 3-12 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist over 31 minutes during Monday's 87-82 victory over the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Strus finished with a team-high mark from three, leading the Heat bench in scoring in Monday's win. Strus has made three or more shots from deep on 16 occasions this season.
Dec 12, 2022
Available against Indiana
Strus (shoulder) is available for Monday's game against Indiana.
ANALYSIS
Strus' status doesn't come as a major surprise, as he was listed as probable ahead of the matchup. He's come off the bench in four of the last five contests and has averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 24.4 minutes per game during that time.
Dec 11, 2022

Dec 10, 2022
Gets green light
Strus (shoulder) will play in Saturday's matchup against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Strus was handed a probable designation heading into the game, so things were seemingly trending in this direction. He has averaged 11.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 29.2 minutes in his previous six games.
Dec 9, 2022
Probable vs. Spurs
Strus (shoulder) is probable for Saturday's game against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to deal with a right shoulder impingement, but it shouldn't prevent him from playing. Over the past six games, he's averaged 11.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 29.2 minutes.
Dec 8, 2022
Active off bench
Strus (shoulder) will play but not start in Thursday's game against the Clippers, Law Murray of The Athleticreports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was probable coming into the game but was not listed in the starting five. Instead the Heat will opt to start Dru Smith to keep Victor Oladipo (knee), Duncan Robinson (ankle) and Strus together in the second unit. However, Strus will still likely see a significant workload in the absence of Kyle Lowry (rest) and Gabe Vincent (knee).
Dec 7, 2022
Listed as probable
Strus (shoulder) is probable for Thursday's matchup against the Clippers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to manage a left shoulder injury, but he's expect to suit up for a fifth straight contest. During that stretch, he's drawn three starts and averaged 11.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals in 28.6 minutes per game.
Dec 7, 2022
Does damage from deep
Strus had 11 points (4-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and one block in 30 minutes during Tuesday's 116-96 loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Strus scored nine of his 11 points from downtown after struggling from beyond the arc over his last two games coming into Tuesday (2-for-10). His performance against Detroit marked the first time he's scored in double figures in December, and he turned in his usual production on the glass and as a passer. Strus is averaging 12.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steal over his last seven matchups.
Dec 6, 2022
Returns to starting five Tuesday
Strus (shoulder) is in the starting lineup Tuesday versus Detroit.
ANALYSIS
The forward is back in the starting lineup for the first time since posting 23 points against the Celtics on Nov. 30. Strus is averaging 14.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists this year.
Dec 6, 2022
Likely available Tuesday
Strus (shoulder) is probable for Tuesday's game against the Pistons, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to manage a left shoulder injury, but he's expected to suit up for the second half of Miami's back-to-back set Tuesday. The sharpshooter has come off the bench over the past two games and connected on just two of 11 shot attempts during those contests.
Dec 5, 2022
Gets green light
Strus (shoulder) is playing Monday against Memphis, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
As anticipated, Strus will play through a right shoulder injury. He'll come off the bench Monday night.
Dec 4, 2022
Expected to play through injury
The Heat list Strus as probable for Monday's game against the Grizzlies with a right shoulder impingement.
ANALYSIS
Strus is one of seven Miami players listed as probable or questionable for Monday's contest, but all are expected to be available for either or both ends of the back-to-back set, which wraps up Tuesday with a home game against the Pistons. With Jimmy Butler (knee) putting an end to a seven-game absence in the Heat's 120-116 win over the Celtics on Friday, Strus moved to the bench after playing off the top unit in each of his last 12 contests. The demotion came with a steep reduction in playing time, as Strus logged 21 minutes against the Celtics after averaging 36.1 per contest during the 12-game run as a starter.
Dec 2, 2022
Given green light
Strus (shoulder) will play Friday at Boston.
ANALYSIS
Although Strus is active, he will shift back to the bench with Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler back in action. However, he will still garner a solid workload given his sixth-man status.
Dec 1, 2022
Likely to play Friday
Strus (shoulder) is probable Friday against Boston.
ANALYSIS
Strus has appeared in the last two games, but the Heat continue to list him on their injury report due to his right shoulder impingement. He's averaged 19.5 points in 34.5 minutes per game over the last two matchups and will likely be able to take the court once again Friday.
Nov 30, 2022
Lights it up from deep
Strus recorded 23 points (7-12 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal in 36 minutes during Wednesday's 134-121 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Strus led the team in threes made to finish with a team-high-tying scoring total in Wednesday's loss. Strus posted his third-highest scoring total this season, now having surpassed the 20-point mark in seven games this year.
Nov 30, 2022
Returns to starting five
Strus (shoulder) is in the starting lineup Wednesday against Boston.
ANALYSIS
Although hampered with a right shoulder injury, Strus will resume his normal starting role versus the Celtics. The forward posted 16 points, three rebounds and one assist in the Heat's win over the Hawks on Sunday.
Nov 29, 2022
Likely to play against Boston
Strus is probable to play in Wednesday's game against the Celtics with a right shoulder impingement.
ANALYSIS
Strus returned to the lineup Sunday after a two-game absence due to his shoulder injury. Strus may find himself in the starting lineup Wednesday with Jimmy Butler (knee) out and Tyler Herro (ankle) questionable.
Nov 27, 2022
Returns to lineup Sunday
Strus (shoulder) is starting against the Hawks on Sunday, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was upgraded from questionable to probable earlier today, and it seems the shooting guard is healthy enough to move straight away into the starting unit after missing the past two games with right shoulder inflammation. Strus should see his regular workload in this game, and he's averaging 16.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game across 11 games this month.
Nov 27, 2022
Expected to play Sunday
The Heat have upgraded Strus (shoulder) from questionable to probable for Sunday's game against the Hawks, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Right shoulder inflammation has prevented Strus from playing in the Heat's last two games, but he looks like he's trending toward suiting up Sunday. If active against the Hawks, Strus could re-enter the starting five while filling a 30-plus-minute role.
Nov 26, 2022
Questionable at Atlanta
Strus (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Hawks, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus has missed two straight games with right shoulder inflammation. The Heat's injury report remains extensive, and fantasy managers should keep an eye on things leading up to tipoff.
Nov 25, 2022
Upgraded to questionable
Strus (shoulder) has been upgraded from doubtful to questionable for Friday's game against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
The shorthanded Heat appear to be getting healthier, and having Strus available would be a significant boost. He sat out Wednesday's game against the Wizards.
Nov 24, 2022
Doubtful to suit up Friday
Strus (shoulder) isn't expected to take the floor Friday versus the Wizards and is officially doubtful, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was initially ruled out for the previous game before an upgrade to questionable made it seem as though he could be set to play. He ultimately was downgraded back to out and appears slated for a second consecutive absence Friday. His next chance to rejoin the action surfaces Sunday versus the Hawks, barring a late turnaround in his status.
Nov 23, 2022
Downgraded back to out
Strus (shoulder) is out Wednesday against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Strus was initially listed as out Tuesday night before being upgraded to questionable shortly thereafter, and he's been downgraded back to out again Wednesday morning. The Heat have an extensive injury report, so fantasy managers should keep an eye out for changes leading up to tipoff.
Nov 22, 2022
Upgraded to questionable Wednesday
Strus (shoulder) has been upgraded from out to questionable against the Wizards on Wednesday, Ira Winderman of South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will now likely come down to a game-time call after being originally ruled out with a shoulder injury. The forward has started each of the past 10 matchups and averaged 16.0 points and 2.9 rebounds.
Nov 22, 2022
Ruled out with shoulder injury
Strus has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards due to a shoulder injury, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will miss his first game of the season Wednesday due to a shoulder injury he presumably picked up during Monday's loss to Minnesota. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but the sharpshooter's next chance to suit up will come Friday in a rematch with Washington.
Nov 19, 2022
Ice hold from three
Strus posted 22 points (8-24 FG, 3-14 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 45 minutes during Friday's 107-106 overtime loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Strus scored nine of his 22 points from deep, but he struggled miserably to find his shooting stroke in this one. The DePaul product is shooting 32.7 percent from beyond the arc over his last five contests, averaging 18.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals over that stretch.
Nov 16, 2022
Bounces back in Toronto
Strus logged 20 points (6-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds, one block and two steals over 35 minutes during Wednesday's 112-104 loss to the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Strus was coming off one of his worst performances of the young season after finishing with five points Monday against the Suns, but he returned to form Wednesday. He did so by locking in from beyond the arc, and he also did damage from the charity stripe, where he's a perfect 14-for-14 over his last nine matchups. Strus is averaging 16.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists over his last five games.
Nov 12, 2022
Red hot in 31-point effort
Strus posted 31 points (10-16 FG, 8-14 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 38 minutes during Saturday's 132-115 victory over Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
Strus led all scorers in the contest, falling one point shy of his career-best mark. The sharpshooting guard also finished one three-pointer short of his career single-game high, making eight of his 14 shots from deep. Strus doesn't provide much outside of scoring and triples, but he is a low-end fantasy asset for his elite production in the latter category. He's tied for ninth in the league this season with 41 triples over 13 contests.
Nov 10, 2022
Struggles from downtown
Strus produced 12 points (5-15 FG, 2-11 3Pt), one rebound, one assist and two steals across 40 minutes during Thursday's 117-112 overtime win over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Strus didn't have his usual shooting touch from beyond the arc in this one, and he didn't offer up much else in terms of production. Strus' main draw for fantasy managers continues to be his scoring value, finishing in double figures in each of his last eight contests.
Nov 5, 2022
Strong shooting from three
Strus recorded 17 points (6-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and two steals over 40 minutes during Friday's 101-99 loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Strus has unsurprisingly been firing up attempts at a high rate from beyond the arc early on this season, as he averaged 6.5 attempts per contest over 68 games a year ago. He shot with efficiency from three Friday night, but he's just 24-for-73 through his first 10 matchups of the 2022-23 campaign. Strus figures to turn things around soon after hitting 41.0 percent of his attempts from downtown a year ago.
Nov 2, 2022
Gets starting nod
Strus is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Strus gets the start with Jimmy Butler (hip) out. Despite only starting in one out of eight games this season, Strus has averaged 31.0 minutes per game. The undrafted forward will be relied upon for his three-point shooting to overcome Butler's absence.
Oct 28, 2022
Goes for 14 points off bench
Strus finished Thursday's 123-110 loss to Golden State with 14 points (5-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds and two blocks across 32 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been Miami's best scoring option off the bench after putting up double-digit points in four of his five outings where he's not started. He's also drained at least three treys in those contests, and he could be a decent fantasy option for managers who need a productive player that can score and knock down threes despite not logging heavy minutes.
Oct 26, 2022
Moves to bench
Strus will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
With Caleb Martin back in the lineup following his one-game suspension, Strus will shift back to a bench role against Portland. Strus is averaging 12.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 30.5 minutes per game this season.
Oct 24, 2022
Joins starting five
Strus will start Monday's game against the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Strus will take the place of Caleb Martin, who will be unavailable Monday due to a suspension. Strus has looked solid in his first three contests of the 2022-23 season, pouring in 20 or more points in two of the three games while also helping out on the defensive end by crashing the glass and swatting away a few shots. He finished with five boards and a pair of blocks Saturday against Toronto.
Oct 23, 2022
Posts nice stat line in victory
Strus finished Saturday's 112-109 win over Toronto with 20 points (8-14 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 37 minutes.
ANALYSIS
That Strus tied for the team lead with three triples was no surprise, but he was uncharacteristically effective in other categories as well, recording five boards, three dimes and a pair of blocks. It was the third time in his career that Strus has tallied multiple swats in a game. Strus has bookended a 23-minute, two-point dud with a pair of performances in which he has scored 20-plus points so far this season.
Oct 20, 2022
Has big role off the bench
Strus tallied 22 points (7-9 FG, 5-7 3PT, 3-5 FT), seven rebounds and one steal in 31 minutes during Wednesday's 116-108 loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Strus proved again Wednesday that he is one the league's most efficient three-point shooters, as he shot 41.0 percent from deep last season. Despite moving back to the bench, he played the fifth most minutes on the team. If Strus can continue to rebound the ball well and maintain his playing time, he will be a sleeper option in fantasy.
Oct 13, 2022
Continues strong outside shooting
Strus posted 11 points (3-8 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and two assists in 17 minutes during Thursday's 120-103 preseason win over the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been moved back to the Heat's bench, despite his hot shooting. If this holds, Tyler Herro will likely be inserted into the starting lineup. Regardless of Strus's role, he will be an underrated play for fantasy owners in Roto leagues that want to boost their three-point percentages and makes.
Oct 12, 2022
Moves to bench Wednesday
Strus is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's preseason game versus the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Strus is expected to play Wednesday, so he will likely be coming off the bench. However, this should not be seen as a permanent move, as Strus has performed very well this preseason, including Monday's win over the Rockets.
Oct 11, 2022
Red hot in preseason win
Strus tallied 24 points (7-14 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal over 24 minutes in Monday's preseason 118-110 win over Houston.
ANALYSIS
Strus was on fire in the first half, scoring 21 points and knocking down four shots from deep. He slowed down after halftime but still led Miami with 24 points and five triples. The sharpshooter emerged as a major weapon for the Heat last season, averaging career-best marks of 10.6 points and 2.7 three-pointers while shooting 41 percent from beyond the arc. His limited skill set makes him a borderline roster option in fantasy, but Monday's performance was a reminder of how prolific he can be when he gets hot from deep.
Oct 7, 2022
Out Friday
Strus won't play in Friday's preseason game against the Grizzlies due to rest, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
The Heat will have a skeleton crew for Friday's exhibition. Strus' next chance to play is Monday against the Rockets.
Oct 6, 2022
Starting Thursday
Strus will start for the Heat Thursday against the Nets, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus managed to come off the bench and play 25 minutes against the Timberwolves in the Heats' preseason opener. Miami's backcourt depth is a bit depleted headed into Thursday's matchup due to knee injuries and rest, so expect Strus to see plenty of minutes against Brooklyn.
May 29, 2022
Say's he's ready for Game 7
Strus said ahead of Sunday's Game 7 against the Celtics that "this is the biggest game I've ever played in. I'm excited. I'm ready," Nick Friedell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to be listed as questionable, but he's yet to miss a game during the postseason, so his comments aren't surprising. After going 0-for-11 from three in Games 4 and 5, he played better in Game 6, going 3-for-8 from distance and scoring 13 points. In the series, he's averaging 8.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 26.5 minutes.
May 28, 2022
Questionable Sunday
Strus (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's Game 7 against the Celtics
ANALYSIS
Strus hasn't missed a game through the playoffs despite the continuous use of the questionable tag. After going 0-for-11 from three in Games 4 and 5, he played better in Game 6, going 3-for-8 from distance and scoring 13 points. In the series, he's averaging 8.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 26.5 minutes.
May 28, 2022
Not his best effort despite win
Strus produced 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-8 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists over 34 minutes before fouling out of Friday's 111-103 victory over the Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
ANALYSIS
Strus was one of four Heat starters that scored in double digits and while his shooting numbers were far from eye-popping, he found a way to contribute on a night where Jimmy Butler was the only Miami player that reached the 20-point threshold. A hamstring injury has limited Strus of late and that might have impacted his recent numbers, too. He's averaging just 8.3 points while shooting 30.4 percent from the field and 29.3 percent from beyond the arc in the current series against Boston.
May 27, 2022
Playing, starting Game 6
Strus (hamstring) will play in Friday's Game 6 against the Celtics, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Unsurprisingly, Strus will see the floor after being listed questionable over and over again with no risk of actually missing time. That could all end tonight, though, as the Heat are down 3-2 on the road. He's struggled during the series, notably going 0-for-16 from beyond the arc over the past two games.
May 26, 2022
Expected to play in Game 6
Head coach Erik Spoelstra said Thursday that Strus (hamstring) is expected to play Friday for Game 6 against Boston, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is still officially listed as questionable for Friday, but it sounds like he'll be available for Game 6 barring any setbacks. His official status will be determined closer to tipoff.
May 26, 2022
Listed questionable again
Strus (hamstring) is questionable for Friday's Game 6 at Boston.
ANALYSIS
This is the 12th game in a row for which Strus has been listed as questionable, but there's no reason to believe the hamstring injury he suffered more than a month ago is still an issue. The sharpshooter has gone brutally cold over the last two games, missing all 11 of his attempts from deep in Games 4 and 5.
May 25, 2022
Available as expected
Strus (hamstring) is available for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Strus will continue to play through his listed hamstring issue. He went 0-for-7 from the field in Game 4 and failed to record a statistic in 15 minutes. In the first three games of the series, he averaged 11.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 30.0 minutes.
May 24, 2022
Back on injury report
Strus (hamstring) is questionable for Wednesday's Game 5 against Boston.
ANALYSIS
Once more, Strus does not appear to be actually dealing with a hamstring issue, but he's included on the injury report nonetheless. The sharpshooter went cold in Monday's Game 4 blowout, going 0-of-7 from the field and 0-of-4 from deep in just 15 minutes of action.
May 23, 2022
Set to play Game 4
Strus (hamstring) will be available for Monday's Game 4 against Boston.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to be listed on the Heat's injury report, but there's no evidence to suggest he's still dealing with any sort of hamstring issue. Strus drilled four threes en route to 16 points in 34 minutes in Saturday's Game 3.
May 23, 2022
Likely to play Monday
Strus (hamstring) is trending toward playing in Monday night's Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against Boston.
ANALYSIS
While Strus has not missed any time or faced any limitations during the playoffs, the Heat continue to insist that he's battling a phantom hamstring injury. There's no reason to believe the sharpshooter won't be in the lineup at his usual shooting guard spot. With Tyler Herro (groin) out, Strus could be looking at an increased minutes-load.
May 22, 2022
Listed as questionable again
Strus (hamstring) is questionable for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Celtics on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to be listed as questionable but hasn't missed a game during the playoffs. Across 14 postseason contests, the undrafted wing out of DePaul has averaged 12.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 29.9 minutes per game.
May 22, 2022
Drains four threes in win
Strus accumulated 16 points (6-12 FG, 4-7 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and one block across 34 minutes during Saturday's 109-103 win over the Celtics in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been a bit inconsistent with his scoring figures in recent games, but he continues to make an impact on offense and particularly from three-point range. He has made at least two treys in each of his last eight appearances, a span in which he's averaging 12.0 points per game while shooting 39.1 percent from deep.
May 21, 2022
Cleared for Game 3
Strus (hamstring) is available for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Strus will take the court despite being labeled with a hamstring injury. Since the start of Round 2, he's averaged 10.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 30.1 minutes.
May 20, 2022
Questionable for Game 3
Strus (hamstring) is questionable for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to be listed as questionable but hasn't missed a game in the postseason. In the first two games of the current series, he's totaled 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block.
May 19, 2022
Cleared to play
Strus (hamstring) is available for Thursday's Game 2 against the Celtics, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Strus will play despite the questionable label. He's scored in double figures in three straight games and has combined for 11 three-pointers during this stretch.
May 18, 2022
Questionable for Game 2
Strus (hamstring) is questionable for Thursday's Game 2 against Boston.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to be listed as questionable due to a right hamstring strain, but he should be able to play once again Thursday. He logged 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 30 minutes during Tuesday's Game 1 win.
May 17, 2022
Cleared to play
Strus (hamstring) will play in Tuesday's Game 1 against Boston, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is one of several players who the Heat continue to include on their injury reports, despite the fact that he's not injured. Expect Strus to start at his usual two-guard spot Tuesday.
May 16, 2022
On injury report again
Strus (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's Game 1 against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
As has been the case for most of the postseason, Strus is not actually injured, but the Heat continue to give him a phantom designation for unknown reasons. In Round 2 against Philly, Strus did not miss any time, nor did he face any limitations. He finished out the series with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in Miami's Game 6 victory.
May 13, 2022
Double-double in Game 6 win
Strus totaled 20 points (6-14 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 4-5 FT), 11 rebounds and five assists in 40 minutes during Thursday's 99-90 win over the 76ers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
ANALYSIS
It was the second straight double-double for the third-year wing, who has taken on a key role for the Heat with Kyle Lowry (hamstring) sidelined. Strus has scored in double digits six times in the last 10 games during the postseason while draining multiple three-pointers in nine of those 10 contests, but if Lowry is 100 percent for the start of the Eastern Conference Finals, the 26-year-old's usage would likely drop.
May 12, 2022
Cleared to play
Strus (hamstring) is available for Thursday's Game 6 against the 76ers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been questionable all series with a hamstring issue but hasn't missed an time. Over the first five games, he's averaged 9.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 29.0 minutes. He's coming off a 19-point, 10-rebound outing.
May 11, 2022
On injury report, should play
Strus (hamstring) is listed questionable for Thursday's Game 6 against the 76ers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Once again, there's no reason to believe Strus is actually dealing with a hamstring injury, but the Heat continue to include him -- along with several other healthy players -- on every injury report. Strus broke out of a shooting slump in Game 5 on Tuesday, finishing with 19 points, 10 rebounds and four three-pointers (4-10 3Pt) in 28 minutes.
May 11, 2022
Double-doubles in win
Strus supplied 19 points (7-13 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds and one assist in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 120-85 win over the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
After four straight single-digit outings, Strus exploded for 19 points -- his second highest total of the postseason. The 6-foot-5 wing also led Miami with a season-high 10 boards, notching his first career double-double.
May 10, 2022
Will play in Game 5
Strus (hamstring) will be available for Tuesday's Game 5 against the 76ers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Strus continues to appear on the injury report with a phantom designation, and there's no reason to believe his status is in any real jeopardy. Strus has struggled thus far in the series, shooting just 9-of-29 from beyond the arc.
May 9, 2022
Listed questionable once again
Strus (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's Game 5 against the 76ers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The Heat have listed Strus on the injury report for every game of the series but there's been no indication that he's actually in any danger of sitting out. Strus has played at least 27 minutes in all four games and is coming off of a 30-minute outing in Sunday's Game 4, which he finished with juts six points on 2-of-5 shooting (2-5 3Pt). For the series, Strus has gone cold, hitting only nine of his 29 attempts from beyond the arc.
May 8, 2022
Active for Game 4
Strus (hamstring) is available for Sunday's Game 4 against the 76ers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus hasn't yet missed any playoff games due to his hamstring injury. He's averaged 11.6 points and 3.0 rebounds in 28.9 minutes per game since the start of the postseason.
May 7, 2022
Questionable Sunday
Stus (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's Game 4 at Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to deal with a hamstring issue but hasn't missed any time. In the series, he's averaging 7.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 29.0 minutes.
May 6, 2022
Should be available Friday
Strus (hamstring) will warm up ahead of Friday's Game 3 against the 76ers and is expected to play, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is still officially considered questionable, but the expectation is that he and the rest of the Heat players listed as questionable will be available Friday. Strus recorded nine points, four rebounds, three assists and a block in Wednesday's Game 2 victory.
May 5, 2022
Questionable for Game 3
Strus (hamstring) is questionable for Friday's Game 3 against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Strus was also questionable for Games 1 and 2 before ultimately playing. He posted a combined 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists and one block in 60 minutes. If he sits out, more action could be in store for Duncan Robinson.
May 4, 2022
Good to go for Game 2
Strus (hamstring) is available for Wednesday's Game 2 against the 76ers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was initially questionable for Game 1 as well, but he ended up playing and posting five points and five rebounds in 33 minutes. In the playoffs overall, he's averaging 12.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 29.5 minutes.
May 3, 2022
Listed questionable for Game 2
Strus (hamstring) is questionable for Wednesday's Game 2 against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Strus carried the same designation into Monday's Game 1, but there's little reason to believe he's actually dealing with a hamstring injury, as the Heat look to be employing some gamesmanship with their injury reports. Strus has started all six of Miami's postseason contests, and over the last three games he's played 36, 32 and 33 minutes, respectively. He finished Monday's Game 1 victory over Philly with just five points (1-7 3Pt) and five boards.
May 2, 2022
Will play Monday
Strus (hamstring) is available for Monday's Game 1 against the 76ers, Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was listed as questionable for Game 1, but the issue was never expected to be too serious. The 6-foot-5 wing scored at least 12 points in each of the final four games of the Heat's opening-round series win and is expected to garner a similar workload Monday.
May 1, 2022
Dealing with hamstring issue
Strus is questionable for Monday's Game 1 against the 76ers due to a hamstring injury, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus scored at least 12 points in each of the final four games of the Heat's opening-round series, but he apparently picked up a hamstring issue as well. He's currently one of six players listed as questionable on Miami's injury report, so as of now, it's unclear what the Heat's rotation will look like Monday.
Apr 26, 2022
Strong play continues
Strus provided 15 points (6-12 FG, 3-8 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and two steals across 32 minutes during Tuesday's 97-94 win over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Strus scored at least 12 points in each of the final four games of the series, notably hitting 15 three-pointers during that stretch. He seems to have earned coach Erik Spoelstra's trust over Duncan Robinson this season, which was a surprising development. At this point, however, it's expected that Strus continue to be an impact player for the Heat in Round 2.
Apr 23, 2022
Puts up 20 points in loss
Strus amassed 20 points (7-13 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 1-3 FT), one rebound and one assist in 29 minutes during Friday's 111-110 loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Strus has seen his scoring increase with every passing game, and this was the first time he reached the 20-point plateau since April 3, when he scored 23 points in a regular-season win over the Raptors. He's averaging 14.3 points per game while shooting 39.1 percent from deep in the current series against Atlanta and could be a decent DFS play going forward due to his scoring prowess, though he doesn't offer a lot of value in other categories.
Apr 19, 2022
Goes for 14 points in victory
Strus provided 14 points (5-10 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound, four assists and two steals across 22 minutes during Tuesday's 115-105 win over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Strus only scored nine points in the series opener but took a step forward in this one, as he was one of two starters that recorded double-digit points while Miami took a two-game lead in the series. Dating back to the regular season, Strus has now scored in double digits in five of his last seven appearances, though he occupies a secondary role on the offensive scheme behind players such as Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, or even bench options such as Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro.
Apr 4, 2022
Catches fire from deep
Strus put up 23 points (7-10 FG, 7-9 3PT, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal in the 114-109 win over Toronto on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With Jimmy Butler being held out, Strus saw a significant boost in production. After averaging just 10.4 points per game in his last 10 contests, the third-year guard seemingly couldn't miss from three-point land and finished as Miami's leading scorer.
Apr 2, 2022
Available Saturday
Strus (shoulder) is available for Saturday's game against the Bulls, Chuck Swirsky of the Bulls Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will play through the shoulder issue and could be in line for a third straight start. He's totaled 22 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks over the past two.
Apr 1, 2022
Dealing with shoulder injury
Strus is questionable for Saturday's game against the Bulls due to a right shoulder contusion.
ANALYSIS
Strus has drawn back-to-back starts ahead of a healthy Duncan Robinson, but he's now dealing with a shoulder injury that may sideline him for the first time since Feb. 26. If he's ruled out, Robinson will likely reclaim his spot in the starting lineup.
Mar 31, 2022
Hits four threes in road win
Strus racked up 14 points (5-10 FG, 4-9 3Pt), seven rebounds, one assist, two blocks and three steals in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 106-98 victory over Boston.
ANALYSIS
Making his second straight start at shooting guard with Duncan Robinson coming off the bench, Strus took advantage of the opportunity, drilling four threes and adding three steals and two blocks to reward fantasy managers who plugged him into their DFS lineups. For now, the Heat appear to be leaning toward Strus at shooting guard over Robinson, but that's subject to change, given how Miami has handled its lineups throughout the season.
Mar 29, 2022
Modest production in win
Strus accumulated eight points (3-12 FG, 2-9 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Monday's 123-100 win over the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Strus drew the start ahead of a healthy Duncan Robinson, but despite being relatively aggressive, he failed to score in double figures for a third consecutive game. The third-year wing continues to play a sporadic role for the Heat this season, but when he's hot, he can pop for sizable production at any time. Across 14 contests in March, Strus has scored in double figures seven times -- including a 21-point performance -- but has also been held scoreless three times.
Mar 28, 2022
Draws rare start
Strus is starting Monday's game against the Kings, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will make his first start since March 3 in place of Duncan Robinson, who will surprisingly come off the bench Monday evening. Strus has scored in double figures in back-to-back games.
Mar 26, 2022
Connects on three triples Friday
Strus posted 11 points (4-9 FG, 3-8 3Pt), one rebound and three assists in 30 minutes before fouling out of Friday's 111-103 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Strus hit three triples in the loss, scoring in double-digits for the first time in over a week. It's been a strong season for Strus, having carved out a nice role off the bench. With Duncan Robinson struggling for much of the campaign, Strus has given the Heat another reliable three-point threat. With that said, he offers very little else on most nights and so he should be viewed as nothing more than a streaming option for managers requiring some perimeter contributions.
Mar 16, 2022
Hits four triples in win
Strus ended with 16 points (6-9 FG, 4-6 3Pt) and three rebounds in 16 minutes during Tuesday's 105-98 victory over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Strus has now hit 14 combined triples over his past three games, creeping into the streaming discussion for those in 12-team formats. Jimmy Butler was unable to finish the game due to an ankle injury suffered in the second quarter. If he is forced to miss time, Strus could see a few extra minutes moving forward. With that being said, the Heat only have one more game this week, so chances are you can find a more reliable option on the wire.
Mar 13, 2022
Posts 19 points from bench
Strus registered 19 points (6-12 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and two assists across 31 minutes during Saturday's 113-104 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Strus' output usually gets a moderate boost when Jimmy Butler (toe) is absent, and Saturday was no exception, as the forward drilled five threes for the second-straight game. Strus carries a lot of volatility as a fantasy candidate due to his limited opportunity, but he's an excellent streaming option when Miami gets the injury bug.
Mar 12, 2022
Drills five triples Friday
Strus finished with 17 points (6-13 FG, 5-11 3Pt), three assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block across 19 minutes Friday in the Heat's 117-105 win over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
The absence of Caleb Martin (knee) allowed Strus to draw back into the rotation after he had been relegated mostly to garbage-time use over the past two contests. Martin's status is iffy for Saturday's game against the Timberwolves, but with Victor Oladipo (rest) out for the second half of the back-to-back set, Strus should be in store for double-digit minutes off the bench. Despite Strus' well-rounded stat line Friday, fantasy managers should view him mostly as a streaming option for three-pointers.
Mar 8, 2022
Bumped out of rotation
Strus accrued no statistics across three minutes of court time in Monday's 123-106 win over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Strus had turned in solid averages of 12.8 points, 3.5 three-pointers, 3.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 27.0 minutes per game over the Heat's previous four contests, but he found himself out of the rotation Monday with Kyle Lowry (personal) back from a four-game absence and with Victor Oladipo (knee) gaining clearance for his season debut. Gabe Vincent and Strus were hurt most by the two returning players, as neither checked into the game until garbage time. In more competitive contests, Vincent and Strus don't look like they'll play at all, so long as all of the Heat's other key guards and wings are healthy and available.
Mar 5, 2022
Available vs. 76ers
Strus (shoulder) is available for Saturday's game against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to be a reliable three-point shooter for Miami. Across the past 11 games, he's averaging 8.0 points per game on 39.1 percent shooting from distance.
Mar 4, 2022
Considered questionable Saturday
Strus (shoulder) is questionable for Saturday's game against Philadelphia, Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus drew the start in Thursday's win over the Nets and logged 21 points, five rebounds, a block and a steal in 36 minutes. If he's able to play through his right shoulder sprain Saturday, his role is dependent on the status of Jimmy Butler (toe).
Mar 4, 2022
Excels in spot start
Strus registered 21 points (6-12 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, one block and one steal in 36 minutes during Thursday's 113-107 win over Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Strus featured in the starting unit for the first time since Jan. 31 and made the most of the opportunity, as he reached the 20-point mark for the first time since that aforementioned date. There's no question the former DePaul standout can make things happen offensively when given enough minutes, but the inconsistency of his role and his uneven projection of playing time on a game-to-game basis certainly conspire against his upside.
Mar 3, 2022
Good to go Thursday
Strus (shoulder) is available Thursday against the Nets, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
A sprained right shoulder won't prevent Strus from playing Thursday. Since the start of February, he's averaged 6.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20.7 minutes.
Mar 3, 2022
Listed as questionable
Strus is questionable for Thursday's game against the Nets due to a right shoulder sprain.
ANALYSIS
Strus has averaged 10.5 points and 2.5 assists in 22.5 minutes per game across his last two appearances but is dealing with a shoulder injury ahead of the second half of a back-to-back set. If he's available Thursday, he could see additional playing time since Jimmy Butler (toe) and Caleb Martin (Achilles) are questionable.
Feb 7, 2022
Good to go Monday
Strus (quad) will be available Monday against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Strus will play through the bruised quad that kept him out of Saturday's win over Charlotte. With Tyler Herro (knee) out, Strus could be set for a slight bump in minutes.
Feb 7, 2022
Expects to play Monday
Strus (quadriceps) said after the team shootaround that he expects to play Monday against the Wizards, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was forced to miss Saturday's win over Charlotte due to a bruised right quad, but it sounds like he's trending in the right direction ahead of Monday's matchup with Washington. With Tyler Herro (knee) not expecting to play, Strus could see some increased run in Miami's backcourt.
Feb 6, 2022
Could play Monday
Strus (quadriceps) is questionable for Monday's game at Washington.
ANALYSIS
Strus was unavailable Saturday versus Charlotte due to a bruised right quad, and his availability remains up in the air for Monday. Jimmy Butler (toe), Tyler Herro (knee) and Caleb Martin (Achilles) are also questionable for the Heat.
Feb 5, 2022
Out Saturday
Strus (quadriceps) is out Saturday against the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Strus is out, but Caleb Martin (Achilles) and Jimmy Butler (toe) are available, so the Heat won't be too shorthanded. Martin could see extra minutes in Strus' absence.
Feb 4, 2022
Questionable Saturday
Strus is questionable for Saturday's tilt against the Hornets due to a bruised right quadriceps.
ANALYSIS
Strus' workload has fluctuated lately, but he continues to be a fantastic three-point shooter, hitting 39.2 percent of his 7.4 attempts per game over the past 10 contests. If he sits out, more minutes could be available for Caleb Martin (Achilles), Duncan Robinson or Gabe Vincent.
Feb 2, 2022
Plays 33 minutes off bench
Strus posted nine points (3-7 FG, 3-7 3Pt) and four rebounds in 33 minutes during Tuesday's 110-106 loss to the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
With Jimmy Butler (toe) and PJ Tucker (knee) back in the starting lineup following one-game absences, Strus was moved back to his usual bench role. While his production was meager compared to his season-high performance Monday, the third-year pro still played 33 minutes. Strus is averaging 11.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 24.3 minutes per game, but it'll be interesting to see if he can remain fantasy relevant with the Heat slowly returning to full strength.
Feb 1, 2022
Explodes for team-high 27 points
Strus posted 27 points (9-19 FG, 9-17 3Pt), three rebounds and two assists over 41 minutes during Monday's 122-92 loss to Boston.
ANALYSIS
Strus moved into the starting lineup as the Heat were without three of their regular starters. As he has done throughout the season, Strus was able to turn things on at the offensive end of the floor, connecting on a career-high nine triples. Unfortunately, he had very little support from his teammates, although if anything, that only highlighted just how important he can be to the team moving forward.
Jan 31, 2022
Among starters Monday
Strus will start Monday's game against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
With three usual starters out, the Heat will once again use a new lineup and go with Strus, Gabe Vincent, Duncan Robinson, Caleb Martin and Bam Adebayo. Strus is coming off of an 11-point, four-rebound, three-three-pointer effort in Saturday's triple-OT loss to Toronto.
Jan 22, 2022
Inefficient in loss
Strus finished with 15 points (6-16 FG, 3-10 3Pt), two rebounds and four assists across 33 minutes during Friday's 110-108 loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Strus came into the contest probable with a right knee contusion but didn't appear to be limited as he scored in double figures for the seventh time in his last eight games. During that stretch, he's averaging 14.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 26.1 minutes. As long as Kyle Lowry (personal) and Tyler Herro (COVID-19) are sidelined, Strus will likely garner enough playing time to make him at least worthy of fantasy consideration -- even if he's operating off the bench.
Jan 21, 2022
Officially available Friday
Strus (knee) is available for Friday's game against Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Strus was probable with a right knee contusion ahead of Friday's matchup but will be available after participating in warmups. He'll come off the bench and should have a relatively normal workload against Atlanta.
Jan 21, 2022
Warming up Friday
Strus (knee) is warming up ahead of Friday's game against Atlanta, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was a late addition to Miami's injury report due to a right knee contusion, but it appears as though he'll be available. He's come off the bench in each of the last two games and has averaged 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in 30.5 minutes per contest during that time.
Jan 21, 2022
Probable vs. Hawks
Strus is probable for Friday's game against the Hawks due to a right knee contusion.
ANALYSIS
Strus is a late addition to the injury report but is expected to play. This month, he's averaging 14.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 25.1 minutes.
Jan 17, 2022
Returns to bench role
Strus isn't starting Monday's game against Toronto, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus had started each of his last eight contests, averaging 16.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists over that stretch, but the Heat have elected to switch up their starting five Monday evening. Duncan Robinson will run with the first unit in Strus' place.
Jan 14, 2022
Lands four triples in victory
Strus accumulated 16 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt), one rebound, one assist and one block in 20 minutes during Friday's 124-118 victory over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Strus remained in the starting lineup despite the return of Jimmy Butler, getting hot early before cooling off, ending with 16 points. His role remains a little unclear but it does appear as though the coaching staff is at least toying with the idea of leaving him in the opening five. Duncan Robinson has been highly inconsistent thus far this season and so perhaps the thought process is that by bringing him off the bench, he can start to get his legs back under him. No matter his role, Strus is really just more of a streaming option when the Heat are fully healthy.
Jan 6, 2022
Tallies seven threes, 25 points
Strus chipped in 25 points (9-17 FG, 7-13 3Pt), six rebounds and five assists across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 115-109 victory over Portland.
ANALYSIS
Jimmy Butler (ankle) didn't play in the contest, and Kyle Lowry was ejected in the second quarter. That allowed Strus -- who missed the team's previous four games while in COVID-19 protocols -- to work as the the Heat's main offensive weapon for much of the contest. The third-year pro responded with a team-high 25 points, with much of his damage coming from beyond the three-point line. Strus also dished a career-high five assists and added six boards. He isn't likely to dish this many dimes often, but Strus had already proven himself to be a valuable contributor prior to his time in protocols, averaging 22.6 points, 5.2 boards and 4.8 triples over his previous five games. Even when Butler returns, Strus should see plenty of time on the court, giving him tangible fantasy value for managers looking for triples and points.
Jan 5, 2022
In starting lineup Wednesday
Strus will start in Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Strus is set to rejoin the starting five after spending the last four games in the NBA's health and safety protocols. The DePaul product was on a nice run prior to the extended absence and he should continue to have opportunities to maintain his role in the Miami rotation going forward. Tyler Herro will shift to the bench for this one.
Jan 4, 2022
Will be available at Portland
Strus will be available for Wednesday's game at Portland, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus cleared protocols earlier in the day and the Heat have now confirmed that he'll return to availability after missing the last four contests. Prior to entering protocols, Strus had been on a nice five-game run, averaging 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 4.8 threes in 36.0 minutes per game.
Jan 4, 2022
Clears COVID-19 protocols
Strus cleared the NBA's health and safety protocols Tuesday, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Winderman reports that Strus rejoined the Heat and presumably practiced Tuesday, but his status for Wednesday's contest against Portland is still unclear. If he's unable to suit up, his next opportunity to return will come Saturday against the Suns.
Jan 3, 2022
Listed out Monday
Strus (COVID-19 protocols) is listed as out for Monday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Strus entered protocols back on Dec. 28, so it's been nearly a week, but he's yet to be cleared and will miss at least one more contest as the Heat begin a three-game Week 12. His next chances to play will come Wednesday at Portland and Saturday at Phoenix.
Dec 28, 2021
Placed in protocols
Strus entered COVID-19 protocols Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
The Heat made the announcement only a half-hour before Tuesday's game against the Wizards tips off, so they'll shuffle the lineup once again and insert Caleb Martin in place of Strus, who started the previous three contests. The DePaul product proved to be a valuable streaming option for fantasy managers, averaging 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.8 threes over the last five games. He'll now be subject to quarantine for at least the next six days, effectively ruling him out for at least the next four contests.
Dec 23, 2021
Another impressive outing Thursday
Strus ended with 26 points (10-18 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, one assist and one steal over 41 minutes during Thursday's 115-112 win over Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Strus got back on track in the victory, continuing what has been a mini-breakout for the sharpshooter. Of all the role players to step up over the past couple of weeks, Strus has been by far the most consistent. While the eventual return of Jimmy Butler will limit his opportunities, there is a world in which Strus actually sees more playing time than Duncan Robinson, and perhaps rightfully so.
Dec 21, 2021
Starting Tuesday
Strus will start Tuesday's game against the Pacers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The Heat will go small while shorthanded. Strus is making the first start of his career. In four games where he's seen 30-plus minutes, he's averaged 22.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
Dec 20, 2021
Scores team-high 24 points
Strus recorded 24 points (7-16 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 6-8 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 34 minutes during Sunday's 100-90 loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Strus continues to benefit from Miami's depleted roster, following up his explosive 32-point effort during Friday's win over Orlando with another excellent stat line. While his recent play merits attention, his numbers will eventually regress once Caleb Martin (COVID-19 Protocols) and Tyler Herro (quad return to action.
Dec 18, 2021
Goes off for 32 with eight threes
Strus recorded 32 points (11-15 FG, 8-11 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds and one assist over 34 minutes during Friday's 115-105 win over the Magic.
ANALYSIS
The DePaul product has worked his way into a more consistent role off the bench this season, but with Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler both missing Friday, he was able to notch a season high in minutes. Six of Strus' career-high eight three-pointers came in the first half, as he helped Miami take a 66-57 advantage into halftime. A few times this season, Strus has proven capable of heating up in a hurry when the minutes are there, but his workload hasn't been quite large enough to warrant attention in most season-long leagues.
Dec 5, 2021
Scores 25 out of nowhere
Strus supplied 25 points (8-13 FG, 6-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds and one steal across 24 minutes during Saturday's 124-102 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been coming off the bench in every game for the Heat, but he seems to be playing better of late and has scored in double digits in four of his last five appearances. While he can experience an uptick in both usage and scoring figures due to the lack of depth, he is not likely to score around the 20-point mark on a regular basis.
Nov 20, 2021
Plays 25 minutes Saturday
Strus contributed two points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt) and four rebounds in 25 minutes during Saturday's 103-100 loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Sturs saw some additional playing time in the loss after Duncan Robinson was forced from the game after just 19 minutes due to a knee contusion. The playing time was encouraging but alas, Strus did nothing with the opportunity. It doesn't sound as though Robinson's injury is too serious but should he miss time, Strus could have some streaming appeal in deeper formats.
Nov 15, 2021
Efficient from bench in win
Strus produced 13 points (5-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt) and six rebounds across 22 minutes in Monday's 103-90 win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Strus is a fixture with the second unit and saw extra time on the floor with Jimmy Butler sidelined. The former Chicago Bull only logs around 18 minutes per game when active, and injury kept him on the bench for a stretch earlier in the month. He has scored double-digits every time he has taken the floor, however.
Nov 11, 2021
Available at Los Angeles
Strus (knee) is available Thursday against the Clippers, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
ANALYSIS
Strus is returning from a five-game absence related to his previous knee sprain. He averaged 6.0 points and 2.7 rebounds across six Heat games off the bench before getting injured.
Nov 11, 2021
Questionable against Clippers
Strus (knee) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Clippers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus has missed the last three contests due to his knee injury, but he has a chance to return Thursday. If he's held out again, KZ Okpala could see additional run.
Nov 10, 2021
Ruled out Wednesday
Strus (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's contest against the Lakers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus will miss his third straight game with a knee injury. The Heat will also be without Markieff Morris (suspension), so KZ Okpala may see extended work during Wednesday's matchup with the Lakers.
Nov 10, 2021
Ruled out Wednesday
Strus (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Lakers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus was initially listed as probable for Wednesday's matchup, but he woke up sore following a workout Tuesday and will be held out once again. Although he's trending in the right direction, Caleb Martin (thumb), Gabe Vincent and Duncan Robinson should see increased run against the Lakers.
Nov 10, 2021
Downgraded to questionable
Strus (knee) has been downgraded to questionable for Wednesday's contest against the Lakers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been sidelined for the Heat's past four games, but he was expected to return Wednesday. However, that may be in jeopardy, as he has been downgraded from probable to questionable. Miami currently has injuries to Strus, Caleb Martin (thumb), Tyler Herro (back), P.J. Tucker (shoulder) and will be without Markieff Morris due to a suspension, so it's unclear what the rotations will look like against the Lakers.
Nov 9, 2021
Probable Wednesday
Strus (knee) is probable for Wednesday's matchup against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Strus has been out the past four games but should be back in action Wednesday. He's averaging 6.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in 17.3 minutes.
Nov 8, 2021
Nearing return
Strus (knee) will warm up for Monday's game against the Nuggets but is unlikely to play.
ANALYSIS
It's reassuring to hear that Strus is continuing to make progress, and it sounds as though he could return any day now. While he's unlikely to return to action Monday, it's certainly a possibility that he gains clearance later in the week.
Nov 1, 2021
Facing multi-week absence
Strus is expected to miss a couple weeks after he was diagnosed with a left knee sprain Monday, the Associated Press reports. "We got good news out of [an MRI] and we'll just see where we go from there," Strus said. "I'll rehab it and get stronger."
ANALYSIS
Though Strus avoided any major structural damage to his knee, he'll be forced to miss at least a handful of games after he picked up the injury late in Saturday's win over the Grizzlies following an awkward landing on a drive to the rim. The 25-year-old had been featured in the Miami rotation in each of the team's first six games, averaging 6.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in 17.3 minutes while ranking third on the team with nine made three-pointers.
Nov 1, 2021
Won't play Tuesday
Strus (knee) has been ruled out for Tuesday's contest against the Mavericks, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus is dealing with a right knee sprain and will be sidelined for at least one contest. The 25-year-old has played a sizeable role of the bench for the Heat this season, averaging 17.3 minutes per game. During his absence, Gabe Vincent and KZ Okpala may see increased minutes against the Mavericks on Tuesday.
Oct 9, 2021
Hits six triples Friday
Strus posted 28 points (9-18 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 36 minutes during Friday's 109-105 preseason win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
With only eight available players, the Heat were reliant on Strus for scoring. He took the second-most shots on the team behind Tyler Herro (25). Strus' role will be relatively small during the season, though he should be able to get some reserve time on the wing.
Aug 17, 2021
Expected to sit Tuesday
Strus will likely be held out of Tuesday's Summer League finale against the Mavs, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
There's nothing on the line for the Heat, so it looks as though they'll sit a few regulars in an effort to avoid injuries. Strus has been among the most impressive players in Las Vegas, averaging 20.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 40 percent from three on 11.3 attempts per game.
Aug 2, 2021
Will remain with Heat
Strus has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with Miami, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Strus' deal with the Heat is a two-year, $3.5 million pact, and while the third-year small forward will remain as a depth piece for Miami, he's not expected to have a major role off the bench unless the team suffers a rash of injuries. He averaged 6.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.6 assists across 13.0 minutes per game last season in his first year with the franchise.
Jul 30, 2021
Extended qualifying offer
Strus was extended a qualifying offer by the Heat on Friday, making him a restricted free agent, Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus saw an increased role as a sophomore last season. In 13.0 minutes per game across 39 appearances, he averaged 6.1 points and 1.1 rebounds. While he's a restricted free agent, it's probably not one of the Heat's priorities to retain him at any cost.
Jul 30, 2021
Will play in Summer League
Strus will play for the Heat's Summer League team, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Strus saw an increased role as a sophomore last season. In 13.0 minutes per game across 39 appearances, he averaged 6.1 points and 1.1 rebounds.

Pours in 20 in season finale
Strus tallied 20 points (7-16 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 36 minutes Sunday in the Heat's 120-107 win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
With little at stake for the playoff-bound Heat in the regular-season finale, head coach Erik Spoelstra held out or limited several key players, allowing deep reserves like Strus the opportunity to pick up extended run. Strus took advantage of the extra playing time to deliver one of the best outings of his young career, falling just one point shy of matching his highest total of the season. He'll likely fall out of the rotation during the Heat's upcoming first-round series with the Bucks.

Absent Wednesday
Strus (coach's decision) didn't play during Wednesday's win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS

Drops eight off bench
Strus tallied eight points (4-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist during Thursday's loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Strus managed 22 minutes of action which was the most he has played since Feb. 22 against the Thunder. The former DePaul standout responded by shooting perfect from inside the arc despite missing everything else from deep. Over his past four appearances now, Strus has tallied 21 total points.

Records six points Tuesday
Strus had six points (2-4 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT) during Tuesday's loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
This was Strus' first action since Feb. 22, snapping a streak of three straight absences. The forward has made the most of his time when he plays, as Strus is averaging 9.7 points in 17.0 minutes over his past six appearances.

Continues strong play from bench
Strus totaled 15 points (6-9 FG, 3-6 3Pt), two assists and a rebound across 20 minutes in Saturday's 112-94 loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Strus went undrafted out of DePaul and spent an injury-riddled season with the Bulls before hooking up with the Heat. He's been incredibly effective recently, averaging 18 points over his last two games. He's also popped with totals of 19 and 12 points earlier in the season. When Goran Dragic returns, Strus may perform a disappearing act, but he's an interesting player to watch in the rotation.

Scores 21 points
Strus totaled 21 points (6-9 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT) across 25 minutes in a victory over the Rockets on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
With Tyler Herro missing the game due to safety protocols, Strus played a big role off the bench, scoring a new career-high. After a quiet three quarters, the forward got hot in the fourth, scoring 14 points on four made threes. The two-way player is a capable three-point shooter, making 42.6 percent from distance this season while with the Heat. Look for Strus to see a similar role Saturday if Herro is forced to miss additional time.

Drops 19 off bench in OT loss
Strus scored a career-high 19 points (7-11 FG, 5-9 3Pt) while adding two rebounds and a steal in 20 minutes off the bench during Monday's 129-121 overtime loss to the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old's hot shooting helped get the Heat to OT, but they couldn't finish the job. Strus set a new personal best in made three-pointers as well as points, and he's making a strong case for a consistent role on Miami's second unit even after players like Maurice Harkless (thihgh) are healthy again.

Hits four treys in loss
Strus scored 12 points (4-6 FG, 4-6 3Pt) in 21 minutes in the Heat's 109-105 loss to the Clippers on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
With the Heat short-handed against the Clippers, Strus was able to hit the 20-minute mark for the third time this season. While Strus failed to record a rebound or an assist, he did manage to drain four threes en route to 12 points, both career-highs.

Cleared to play
Strus (wrist) is available Thursday against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Strus could remain in the rotation Thursday as the Heat continue to deal with a variety of absences. That said, his minutes haven't typically led to production. In 14.5 minutes per game this season, the sophomore is averaging 4.5 points and 1.5 rebounds.

Questionable Thursday
Strus is questionable for Thursday's game against the Clippers due to a bruised left wrist.
ANALYSIS
Strus played 17 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Nuggets but emerged with a bruised wrist that could keep him out of Thursday's game. He's found himself in the rotation lately due to the vast number of absences the Heat are regularly dealing with.

Sees plenty of run in OT loss
Strus scored eight points (3-7 FG, 2-6 3Pt) while adding one rebound and one assist in 24 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 137-134 overtime loss to the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
With the Heat only having eight active players for the game, Strus saw the court for only the second time this season and the fourth time in his career, and the 24-year-old didn't make much of an impact. Expect him to return to the end of the bench once Miami back to something close to full strength.

Secures two-way contract
Strus' contract was converted to a two-way contract Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Strus signed a training-camp contract with the Heat at the end of November, and he impressed enough during preseason play to secure the Heat's second two-way spot. The 24-year-old suffered a torn ACL last year that ended his season after just two appearances with the Bulls.

Joins Heat on Exhibit 10 deal
Strus agreed Monday with the Heat on a training-camp deal, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
A two-way player for the Bulls in 2019-20, Strus hit the open market after the Bulls elected to reserve their two two-way spots for Adam Mokoka and Devon Dotson in 2020-21. Strus made only two appearances with Chicago as a rookie before he was lost for the remainder of the regular season after tearing the ACL in his left knee in December. The Heat's decision to bring Strus aboard implies that he's healthy, and he should get the chance to compete in camp for the second two-way spot Miami still has available. Paul Eboua and Breein Tyree are also candidates for the two-way spot.
