Claxton's rim-protecting efforts alone make him worthy of starting in many formats, but his current binge of scoring has heightened his fantasy status, especially among centers.

The Nets could be thin at center if Claxton and DeAndre Jordan, who is questionable with a dislocated finger, are both unable to play.

Claxton landed hard on his shoulder during Monday's loss to the Sixers, and though he was able to play through the issue, the big man is now dealing with some residual soreness. Brooklyn figures to wait and see how Claxton is feeling during warmups before confirming his availability for Thursday's tilt. The rookie is averaging 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks across 18.0 minutes over his past two games, both of which came with DeAndre Jordan (finger) sidelined.

Claxton had 14 points (7-12 FG), six rebounds, three blocks and one assist in 19 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 117-97 loss against the Bucks.

Claxton played a season-high 19 minutes, and that translated to his best scoring output of the season, as well as tying season-high marks for both rebounds and blocks in a single game. This performance might boost Claxton's chances of earning a defined role in the Nets' rotation, but he has played just twice since late November. He will need to earn minutes on a consistent basis before being considered as a potential waiver pickup in deeper formats.

Claxton's lingering hamstring injury isn't considered serious, and the Nets are hopeful he can return to game action in a week or two, Alex Schiffer of The Athletic reports.

Brooklyn has already ruled Claxton out in advance of Thursday's game in Dallas, and Schiffer's report suggests the rookie won't be an option for Saturday's home tilt with the Raptors either. Considering Claxton hasn't appeared in a game at any level in more than a month and was a fringe rotation option for Brooklyn when healthy, he'll likely be eased back into competitive action with the G League's Long Island Nets.
