Paul Reed Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Pistons vs Bucks game on tomorrow with our National Basketball Association injury report.Nov 17, 2025
Retreating to bench Monday
Reed won't start Monday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
With Jalen Duren (ankle) returning from a two-game absence, Reed will slide to the second unit. Over his last five appearances off the bench, the 26-year-old center has averaged 4.0 points and 4.2 rebounds in 10.2 minutes per contest.
Nov 12, 2025
Monster game as starter
Reed generated 28 points (11-13 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 13 rebounds, six assists, four steals and one block across 31 minutes of Wednesday's 124-113 win over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Reed hadn't exceeded 19 minutes in a game before Wednesday night. However, the absences of Jalen Duren (ankle) and Isaiah Stewart (ankle) opened up the opportunity for Reed to draw the start, and he capitalized. The 26-year-old center paced the Pistons in points and rebounds while tallying the second most assists on the team. While it's uncertain if Duren and Stewart will continue to miss time, fantasy managers should keep a keen eye on the Pistons' frontcourt situation, as Reed boasts significant streaming value when given 20 or more minutes.
Nov 12, 2025
Starting vs. Chicago
Reed will start Wednesday's matchup against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
With Jalen Duren (ankle) and Isaiah Stewart (ankle) both sidelined, Reed will get the starting nod for the first time this season. Over his last five appearances, the big man has averaged 4.0 points and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 71.4 percent from the field in 10.2 minutes per contest.
Nov 11, 2025
Flirts with double-double in win
Reed accumulated eight points (4-5 FG, 0-2 FT), nine rebounds, one block and one steal over 13 minutes during Monday's 137-135 overtime win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Reed stepped in for Isaiah Stewart (ankle) and performed well in his place, logging a second consecutive game with a block and at least five rebounds. If Stewart can't go Wednesday against Chicago, Reed will continue to back up Jalen Duren.
Nov 4, 2025
Tacks two steals in win
Reed ended with zero points (0-1 FG), one rebound and two steals in five minutes during Monday's 114-106 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Reed does not appear to have a consistent role, as he is currently third in the depth chart at center behind Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart. Even with Tobias Harris (ankle) being ruled out Monday, which led to Stewart sliding into the starting lineup, Reed only played five minutes, which may be an indicator that he will not be among the rotation with a fully healthy Detroit roster.
Oct 25, 2025
Increased role Friday
Reed had 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-1 3Pt), nine rebounds, one assist and two blocks in 19 minutes during Friday's 115-111 win over Houston.
ANALYSIS
Reed saw meaningful minutes Friday, filling the void after Jalen Duren was ejected. In what was somewhat of a surprise, it was Reed who got the nod over Isaiah Stewart, falling one rebound short of a double-double. Despite his per-minute upside, Reed is unlikely to feature on a nightly basis, although he is worth keeping an eye on, just in case Duren is suspended.
Oct 14, 2025
Muted role Tuesday
Reed ended with just three points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds and one assist in 11 minutes during Tuesday's preseason loss to Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
With Jalen Duren (hamstring) returning to the court, Reed played as the third-string center behind both Duren and Isaiah Stewart. Despite a proven ability to contribute in limited minutes, Reed is unlikely to scratch the surface when it comes to viable fantasy production, barring an injury to either player ahead of him.
Oct 7, 2025
Pulls down 12 boards
Reed produced five points (2-2 FG, 1-1 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 18 minutes of Monday's 128-112 preseason win over Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Jalen Duren (hamstring) sat this contest out, but he's considered day-to-day. Isaiah Stewart got the starting nod, but Reed saw the bulk of the center minutes off the bench and made a huge impact on this game, leading all players in rebounds. Reed knows how to fill a box score, but when Duren is healthy, Reed projects to be the third-string center.
Jun 30, 2025
Remaining in Motor City
Reed agreed to a two-year, $11 million deal with the Pistons on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed will remain in Detroit after initially joining the team on a one-year pact in December 2024. The 26-year-old big man averaged 4.1 points and 2.7 rebounds across 9.7 minutes per game in 45 regular-season appearances with the Pistons last season.
Apr 6, 2025
Sticks in rotation Saturday
Reed contributed two points (1-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt), three rebounds and two assists across 11 minutes during Saturday's 109-103 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Reed remained in the rotation, playing as the primary backup behind Isaiah Stewart after Jalen Duren was a late scratch due to a leg issue. While Reed has now logged double-digit minutes in four straight games, his production has been largely underwhelming. During that time, he has averaged just 3.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in 12.9 minutes per contest.
Mar 2, 2025
Muted role continues
Reed racked up two points (2-2 FT) and two rebounds across four minutes during Saturday's 115-94 victory over the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Reed continues to play very limited minutes off the bench, having played fewer than 10 minutes in 11 of the past 14 games, failing to touch the floor in five of those. With Jalen Duren playing the best basketball of his young career, Reed is simply an emergency option, if and when Isaiah Stewart is struggling as the backup center.
Feb 5, 2025
Balanced outing in limited time
Reed posted seven points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across eight minutes during Wednesday's 118-115 loss to the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Reed played in a team-low minute total Wednesday, but made the most of his time on the floor by finishing as one of two Pistons bench players with at least five points and five rebounds. Reed has hauled in six or more boards in four contests, adding at least seven points in three of those outings.
Jan 25, 2025
Barely visible in loss
Reed recorded no counting stats in one minute during Saturday's 121-113 loss to Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Reed was a non-factor in the loss, playing fewer than 10 minutes for the sixth straight game. With both Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart healthy, Reed's role has evaporated in recent times. He is no longer an every-night part of the rotation, something that will only change should those ahead of him be forced to miss time.
Dec 16, 2024
Back with Detroit
The Pistons signed Reed to a veteran minimum contract Monday, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed was waived by the Pistons on Saturday, but he's opted to return to Detroit after clearing waivers. He's seen inconsistent playing time off the Pistons' bench, and across 12 outings he's averaged 4.8 points and 1.9 rebounds over 10.3 minutes per game.
Dec 14, 2024
Parting ways with Detroit
The Pistons are waiving Reed on Saturday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed has been an inconsistent part of Detroit's rotation but is averaging 4.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 10.3 minutes across 12 appearances this season. Reed will now be an unrestricted free agent as the Pistons were looking to add roster and salary flexibility.
Dec 13, 2024
Plays 15 minutes in blowout loss
Reed closed with four points (2-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt), three assists, two steals and one block in 15 minutes during Thursday's 123-99 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
With Jalen Duren (wrist) sidelined, Isaiah Stewart picked up the start while Reed slid into the rotation. The 25-year-old tied his season-high mark in minutes Thursday, though he shouldn't see much playing time when Duren returns. Reed has averaged 4.8 points and 1.9 rebounds across 10.3 minutes per game in 12 regular-season appearances.
Nov 6, 2024
Increased role Wednesday
Reed amassed 13 points (6-6 FG, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, one block and two steals in 12 minutes during Wednesday's 108-107 loss to the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Reed logged a season-high 12 minutes, sliding up in the rotation after Jalen Duren was forced from the game due to an ankle injury. While Duren attempted to play through the issue, he was eventually removed and could certainly be at risk of missing time. Should we get word that Duren will be sidelined for any length of time, Reed could be someone to consider for streaming purposes. Isaiah Stewart would likely move into the starting lineup but as we know, he is somewhat undersized, meaning Reed could log meaningful minutes.
Nov 2, 2024
Sees playing time in blowout loss
Reed logged five points (2-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over seven minutes during Friday's 128-98 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Reed has only played in two of Detroit's six outings so far in 2024-25. However, with Friday's game being a blowout, the 25-year-old big man was able to log seven minutes of action. Still, unless there are significant injuries ahead of him in the depth chart, Reed is unlikely to garner significant fantasy interest.
Oct 16, 2024
Grabs nine boards vs. Cleveland
Reed supplied six points (3-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt), nine rebounds, two assists and two steals over 18 minutes in Wednesday's 108-92 preseason win over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Reed managed to lead both teams in rebounding Wednesday as the Pistons' reserves saw extended playing time in the preseason finale. After being let go by the 76ers in early July, Reed was claimed off waivers by the Pistons to add some depth to the front court. However, he will likely begin the 2024-25 regular season as the third-string center behind starter Jalen Duren and backup Isaiah Stewart.
Jul 9, 2024
Heading to Motor City
The Pistons claimed Reed off waivers Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed is on the second year of a three-year, $24 million deal, and he will now join Detroit's frontcourt next season. The 25-year-old will likely compete for minutes with Isaiah Stewart off the bench behind Jalen Duren. Reed was waived by the 76ers on July 6, and he averaged 7.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks across 19.4 minutes in 82 regular-season games with the club last year.
Jul 6, 2024
Released by Philly
The 76ers plan to waive Reed on Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed is currently on a non-guaranteed contract, and Philadelphia plans to waive the big man to open up more cap space. The 25-year-old had a career-best year with Joel Embiid missing significant time, during which Reed averaged 7.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks across 19.4 minutes in 82 regular-season games.
Apr 9, 2024
Returns to bench Tuesday
Reed is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pistons, Austin Krell of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
No real surprises here, as Reed will move back to the bench with the return of Joel Embiid (knee) to the starting unit. Reed has averaged 7.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game over his last 10 appearances off the bench.
Apr 8, 2024
Double-double against Spurs
Reed ended with 11 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt), 10 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal across 31 minutes before fouling out of Sunday's 133-126 double-overtime victory over San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
It's the seventh double-double of the season for Reed but his first since March 8, while the five assists tied his season high -- a mark he also reached Saturday. The fourth-year center is seeing his usage rise again with Tobias Harris (knee) now missing from the frontcourt along with Joel Embiid (knee), and in the three games Harris has sat out, Reed has averaged 7.3 points, 6.3 boards, 3.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in 23.0 minutes a contest.
Apr 7, 2024
Starting Sunday
Reed will start at center in Sunday's matchup with the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Reed will replace Joel Embiid (knee) with the starting five. He has averaged 10.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 25.8 minutes in 23 starts this season.
Apr 7, 2024
Strong defensive effort in win
Reed contributed six points (3-4 FG), five rebounds, five assists and four steals over 23 minutes during Saturday's 116-96 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Reed compiled four steals in the win, continuing to provide viable streaming value despite the return of Joel Embiid. While Reed's upside is limited now that their star center is back in the lineup, he should still be on the radar if you need defensive stats and rebounds.
Mar 25, 2024
Impresses off bench
Reed registered 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three steals across 24 minutes during Sunday's 121-107 win over the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
This was quite the showing from Reed as he showcased his ability to stuff the stat sheet across the board. His defense and rebounding are definitely his calling cards, as he's averaging 1.6 blocks, 1.2 steals and 7.3 rebounds in March.
Mar 9, 2024
Remains productive in reserve role
Reed finished with 17 points (7-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal over 27 minutes during Friday's 103-95 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
After starting Philadelphia's previous game Wednesday versus Memphis, Reed returned to the bench Friday while Mo Bamba logged a start. The change in roles didn't impact Reed's productivity -- in fact, he played three more minutes, and his totals of 17 points, 11 boards, three blocks and a steal were identical to his previous outing. Reed has been up-and-down as the primary replacement to Joel Embiid (knee), but he has done enough as a rebounder and shot-blocker to justify rostering in most fantasy leagues with Embiid still without a return timetable.
Mar 8, 2024
Back to bench
Reed won't start Friday's game against the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Reed returned to the starting lineup Wednesday and posted 17 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in 24 minutes before fouling out. He'll be replaced by Mo Bamba at center, but Reed should still play plenty of minutes off the bench.
Mar 7, 2024
Double-double against Grizzlies
Reed notched 17 points (8-17 FG, 1-2 3Pt), 11 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal in 24 minutes before fouling out of Wednesday's 115-109 loss to Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Shifting back into the starting five after coming off the bench for three games, Reed responded with his fifth double-double of the season. Joel Embiid (knee) doesn't appear to be close to returning from knee surgery, so Reed will continue filling a large role in the Sixers' frontcourt, but his production has been erratic. Over 16 games since Embiid went down, Reed is averaging 8.8 points, 7.8 boards, 1.6 assists and 1.3 blocks over 25.4 minutes a contest.
Mar 6, 2024
Back with first unit
Reed will start Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
After starting in each of the 76ers' 12 games in February, Reed was replaced by Mo Bamba at center to start March. However, Reed will return to the starting lineup Wednesday. In February, Reed averaged 8.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
Mar 1, 2024
Won't start Friday
Reed won't start Friday's game against the Hornets, Austin Krell of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, Reed has started 14 of Phildelphia's last 15 contests. However, the 76ers are switching things up Friday, replacing Reed with Mo Bamba. Given how depleted the 76ers' frontcourt depth is, Reed figures to see plenty of playing time off the bench, but his fantasy value still takes a hit.
Feb 24, 2024
Makes impact on glass
Reed amassed eight points (4-6 FG), 12 rebounds, one assist and three blocks over 31 minutes during Friday's 104-97 victory over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Making his 10th straight start in the absence of Joel Embiid (knee), Reed ripped down double-digit boards for the fourth time, although only two of those turned into double-doubles. During his stint in the Sixers' starting five, the fourth-year center is averaging 8.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 blocks in 27.0 minutes a game, as his increased role hasn't resulted in solid fantasy utility in shallower fantasy formats.
Feb 15, 2024
Grabs 12 boards vs. Heat
Reed amassed 18 points (7-12 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists and one block over 39 minutes during Wednesday's 109-104 loss to Miami.
ANALYSIS
Reed continues to produce on the glass since entering the starting lineup with Joel Embiid (knee) out of action. Over his last last five starts, Reed is averaging 12.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks over 30.4 minutes per game.
Feb 13, 2024
Consistency continues
Reed finished with 13 points (6-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, one assist, two blocks and two steals over 29 minutes during Monday's 123-121 win over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Reed is averaging 10.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 17 games as a starter this season. The 24-year-old grades is a quality two-way rebounder and defensive playmaker, with Monday's production being indicative of realistic rest-of-season expectations.
Feb 7, 2024
Feeling better
Reed, who's suited up for the last two games despite battling an illness, said he's feeling "a lot better" after Wednesday's morning shootaround, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed was limited to 15 and 22 minutes, respectively, over the last two games while battling an illness, totaling just four points, 10 rebounds and one block. With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, the 76ers need all the production they can get out of Reed, who's averaging 10.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 steals in 24.7 minutes across his previous 13 starts this season.
Feb 5, 2024
Dealing with illness
Coach Nick Nurse said Reed is dealing with an illness ahead of Monday's game versus Dallas, but the center will suit up, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, the 76ers need Reed available for as many minutes as possible, but the backup big man will presumably be limited against the Mavericks. He was reportedly dealing with the aliment ahead of Saturday's blowout loss to Brooklyn, and he posted just two points and four rebounds in 15 minutes during that contest.
Feb 2, 2024
Double-digit boards Thursday
Reed supplied seven points (3-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal over 28 minutes during Thursday's 127-124 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Getting his third start in the last four games due to Joel Embiid's knee trouble, Reed led the Sixers in rebounding as he pulled down 10-plus boards for the third time this season. In 11 contests as a starter, the fourth-year forward is averaging 12.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.2 steals in 25.8 minutes a game, and with Embiid potentially facing an extended absence, Reed's run of fantasy relevance should continue.
Feb 1, 2024
Returns to starting unit
Reed is in the starting lineup to face the Jazz on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Unsurprisingly, Reed returns to the starting lineup with the news that Joel Embiid will miss time due to a knee injury. Reed is averaging 12.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals per game when playing as a starter (10 games) this season.
Jan 30, 2024
Returns to bench
Reed isn't in the starting five for Tuesday's game versus the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Joel Embiid will replace Reed in the starting lineup Tuesday after missing the last two contests with a knee injury. Reed is averaging 3.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in 13.2 minutes across his last five appearances coming off the bench.
Jan 30, 2024
Solid sans-Embiid
Reed supplied 11 points (5-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 24 minutes during Monday's 130-104 loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Even without Joel Embiid (knee) Reed returned to a modest level of production, functioning in a platoon with Mo Bamba, who logged 19 minutes in his return from a knee injury that had sidelined him since Jan 12. Reed continues to thrive as a defensive playmaker, with a 2.5 percent block rate and a 1.9 percent steal rate, which, respectively, rank in the 73rd and 89th percentile among all bigs.
Jan 28, 2024
Dominates in starting lineup
Reed had 30 points (14-21 FG, 2-4 3Pt), 13 rebounds, one assist and two steals in 42 minutes during Saturday's 111-105 loss to Denver.
ANALYSIS
Reed replaced Joel Embiid (knee) in the starting lineup Saturday by leading all players in scoring while hauling in a team-high rebound total in a 30-point double-double performance. Reed set season-high marks in both points and rebounds while tallying his second double-double of the year.
Jan 28, 2024
B-Ball Paul strikes in Denver
Reed contributed 30 points (14-21 FG, 2-4 3Pt), 13 rebounds, one assist and two steals in 42 minutes during Saturday's 111-105 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Fans of Reed and Patrick Beverley (17 points, 11 assists) were in basketball heaven Saturday. Joel Embiid (knee) and Tyrese Maxey (ankle) didn't suit up, while Mo Bamba (knee) is amid a multi-week absence, leaving Reed with a mammoth workload. His diet of midrange jumpers and buckets around the basket punished Denver. The Nuggets dared Reed to hit shots, and he succeeded Saturday.
Jan 27, 2024
Making surprise start
Reed will start Saturday's game against the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Reed will take the place of Joel Embiid (knee), who was a late scratch for the contest. With the 76ers very thin up front, Reed could have the opportunity to see 30 minutes for the second time this season. The last time Reed played at least 30 minutes, he logged 15 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.
Jan 26, 2024
Balanced outing off bench in loss
Reed produced seven points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist and three steals over 17 minutes during Thursday's 134-122 loss to Indiana.
ANALYSIS
Reed led all bench players in rebounds while leading the 76ers with a trio of threes in a well-rounded performance. Reed has posted at least five points and five rebounds in 11 games this season, including in two straight contests. He has now recorded three or more steals in three games.
Jan 15, 2024
Back to bench
Reed isn't starting Monday's game against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, Reed has started seven of Philadelphia's past nine games. However, Embiid will return to action without restrictions Monday, so Reed should revert to a modest bench role. As a reserve this season, Reed has averaged 4.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.2 steals-plus-blocks in 13.4 minutes per game.
Jan 7, 2024
Posts season-high 16 points
Reed closed Saturday's 120-109 loss to the Jazz with 16 points (7-12 FG, 2-4 FT), six rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Reed got the start Saturday with Joel Embiid (knee) ruled out ahead of the game, and scored a season-high 16 points on 58.3 percent shooting. If Embiid sits out of Wednesday's game against the Hawks, Reed would likely fill in as the starter again and carry some fantasy value.
Jan 6, 2024
Starting against Utah
Reed is in the starting lineup to face the Jazz on Saturday, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed will step into the starting lineup with Joel Embiid (knee) out, and while this will represent an uptick to his fantasy upside, he's not going to have the same workload Embiid currently has. Kelly Oubre and Tyrese Maxey are expected to benefit from Embiid's absence.
Jan 2, 2024
Returns to bench
Reed isn't in the starting five for Tuesday's game versus the Bulls, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Joel Embiid will replace Reed in the starting lineup Tuesday after missing the last four games with an ankle injury. Reed is averaging 4.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 13.2 minutes across his last 10 appearances coming off the bench.
Dec 31, 2023
Scores 11 poinst Saturday
Reed racked up 11 points (4-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, one block and four steals across 28 minutes during Saturday's 105-92 loss to Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Reed started for the fourth consecutive game with Joel Embiid (ankle) sidelined, and while he delivered a decent stat line, it's clear he's not going to have the same impact as Embiid on the offensive end of the court. Reed is averaging 9.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in that four-game span, and while his fantasy upside has received a bump with Embiid sidelined, his long-term role belongs on the bench.
Dec 27, 2023
Season-best effort in spot start
Reed chipped in 15 points (6-11 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal across 32 minutes during Wednesday's 112-92 win over Orlando.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year big got the start with Joel Embiid (ankle) sidelined and produced his first double-double of the season, and the seventh of his career, while also making an impact on the defensive end. The 15 points and 10 boards were both season highs for Reed, and he hadn't even scored in double digits since Dec. 1, the last time he got a spot start and played over 20 minutes. Embiid has missed two games so far with his ankle sprain, and should he be out again Friday against the Rockets, Reed figures to be a very popular DFS option.
Dec 25, 2023
Draws Christmas day start
Reed will start Monday against Miami, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed will make his second start of the season and his fourth start of the past two years with Joel Embiid shelved Monday due to an ankle sprain. Nicolas Batum (hamstring) is also out, so Reed profiles as a critical component of Philadelphia's frontcourt against Bam Adebayo.
Dec 6, 2023
Moves back to bench
Reed isn't in the starting five for Wednesday's game versus Washington.
ANALYSIS
Joel Embiid's return from a two-game absence will send Reed back to the bench. Reed is averaging 5.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 15.4 minutes across his previous 10 bench appearances.
Dec 2, 2023
Season-high scoring in spot start
Reed accumulated 14 points (6-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one block over 21 minutes during Friday's 125-119 loss to Boston.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year forward got the start at center with Joel Embiid (illness) unavailable and responded with a season high in points. Reed has only scored in double digits three times all year, but those performances have all come within the last nine games -- a stretch in which he's averaging 7.0 points, 4.2 boards, 0.9 blocks and 0.7 steals in just 16.7 minutes a night while shooting 60.0 percent from the floor.
Dec 1, 2023
Enters starting lineup
Reed will start Friday's game against Boston, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Joel Embiid (illness) is sitting out Friday's game, so Reed will start at center with Marcus Morris replacing Nicolas Batum (finger, out) at power forward. Reed offers plenty of fantasy upside, particularly in category leagues. In his last outing against the Pelicans on Wednesday, Reed had nine points, five assists, four rebounds and one steal.
Nov 23, 2023
Strong defense in Embiid's absence
Reed logged 10 points (5-9 FG), nine rebounds, one assist, four blocks and two steals in 26 minutes during Wednesday's 112-99 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
With Joel Embiid (hip) sidelined, Reed was given extra run, though he surprisingly came off the bench while Marcus Morris got the start. Reed continues to prove that, when given the minutes, he can produce excellent fantasy numbers. However, head coach Nick Nurse has shown hesitancy to play Reed and Embiid together, capping the 24-year-old's upside.
Nov 16, 2023
Efficient against Boston
Reed contributed 10 points (4-5 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one block over 14 minutes during Wednesday's 117-107 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Although Reed came off the bench once again Wednesday, he was efficient from the floor to score in double figures for the first time this year, and he also matched his season-high mark of six rebounds. Joel Embiid has played through a hip injury recently, and Reed would likely carry some streaming value if the 2022-23 NBA MVP is forced to miss any time. Reed has been relatively consistent on the boards early in the season but hasn't generated much production in other areas.
Oct 20, 2023
Heads to bench
Reed isn't in the starting five for Friday's preseason game versus the Hawks, Austin Krell of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed will be replaced by Joel Embiid in the starting lineup in Friday's preseason finale. Reed is set to serve as Embiid's backup yet again this season.
Oct 12, 2023
Solid all-around effort
Reed delivered 10 points (5-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt), seven rebounds, five assists and two steals across 22 minutes in Wednesday's 112-101 preseason loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Reed made the most of his minutes out there and delivered value on both ends of the court, though his passing numbers were surprising -- he didn't record more than three dimes in any game last season. Reed should open the season as a frontcourt backup who should see plenty of minutes due to his ability to play both power forward and center.
Jul 9, 2023
Retained by Philadelphia
The 76ers have matched Reed's three-year, $23 million offer sheet with the Jazz, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed, a restricted free agent, had signed a three-year, $23 million deal with the Jazz on Saturday, which was matched by the 76ers. The deal also states the Sixers must guarantee the last two years of Reed's deal if they win the opening round of playoffs this season. Reed averaged 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds as a backup for Joel Embiid last season, and will likely serve as a backup big man for Philadelphia going forward.
Jul 8, 2023
Receives offer from Utah
The Jazz signed Reed to a three-year, $23 million contract Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed is a restricted free agent, so Philadelphia will have until the end of Sunday to match Utah's offer. The 24-year-old big man was the primary backup to Joel Embiid last season but could be seen as expendable with Montrezl Harrell and Mo Bamba on the roster.
Jun 28, 2023
Becoming restricted free agent
The 76ers extended a qualifying offer to Reed on Wednesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
After receiving the qualifying offer from, Reed officially becomes a restricted free agent. Reed filled the role of backup center for Philadelphia in 2022-23, appearing in a career-high 69 regular season games and averaging 4.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks/steals over 10.9 minutes. The highlight of his campaign came in the playoffs, where he stepped into the starting lineup in place of Joel Embiid for a pair of games and posted back-to-back double-doubles on combined 8-of-12 shooting from the field.
May 3, 2023
Slides back to bench
Reed will not start Wednesday's Game 2 versus the Celtics, Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed double-doubled in both of his starts filling in for Joel Embiid, who was dealing with a sprained right knee. However, with Embiid cleared for Game 2 action, Reed will return to the second unit. Reed averaged 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds across 11.3 minutes in his three playoff appearances with the reserves and should handle a similar workload Wednesday.
May 1, 2023
Posts double-double as starter
Reed chipped in 10 points (3-4 FG, 4-4 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 37 minutes during Monday's 119-115 win over the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
ANALYSIS
Reed got his second straight start in place of Joel Embiid (knee), leading all 76ers players in rebounds en route to a double-double outing in Game 1. Reed, who could start again in Game 2 if Embiid is out once again, has posted 10 points and at least 13 rebounds in two straight games.
May 1, 2023
Drawing start at center
Reed is starting Monday's Game 1 against the Celtics, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed entered the starting lineup in place of Joel Embiid (knee) for his team's Game 4 victory over the Nets in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, and he'll draw another start Monday evening. Reed put up 10 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 32 minutes during his last start.
Apr 22, 2023
Double-double in Game 4 win
Reed notched 10 points (5-10 FG), 15 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 32 minutes during Saturday's 96-88 victory over the Nets in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, Reed stepped into the starting lineup, helping the Nets secure a 4-0 series win. Performances like this are what managers have been hoping for all season. Head coach Doc Rivers finally used some common sense, starting Reed over the likes of Montrezl Harrell and Dewayne Dedmon. It sounds as though Embiid could also miss at least the first game of their second-round series, meaning Reed's time as the starting center could extend a little longer.
Apr 22, 2023
Starting Game 4
Reed is starting at center in Saturday's Game 4 against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, Reed was the expected replacement at center, so no surprise here. As a result, the big man figures to see a heavier workload than the previous games this series. He averaged 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists across 30.7 minutes in two starts during the regular-season.
Apr 15, 2023
Retakes spot on bench for Game 1
Reed won't start Saturday's Eastern Conference First Round versus the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Reed grabbed a pair of starts with Joel Embiid resting late in the regular season, but he'll resume his usual bench role behind Embiid in postseason play. Reed can compile some decent stat lines even in limited minutes, so he should remain an option in some daily formats despite the move back to the bench.
Apr 9, 2023
Dominates in spot start
Reed posted 17 points (8-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt), 10 rebounds, one assist, five blocks and two steals over 28 minutes during Sunday's 134-105 win over the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Reed was a class above in the victory, reminding everyone just what he can do when handed meaningful minutes. He has firmly established himself as the primary backup behind Joel Embiid, although fans would love to see what he can do when not playing second fiddle to the potential MVP. If he can somehow land a sizeable role next season, he would certainly become a name to consider, even in standard formats.
Apr 7, 2023
Starting Friday
Reed is starting at center for Friday's game in Atlanta, Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 76ers are resting all their usual starters, so Reed figures to see a healthy role throughout the game. The start is his first of the season.
Apr 1, 2023
Turns in another solid showing
Reed ended with 11 points (3-5 FG, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one block in 14 minutes during Friday's 117-110 win over Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Reed has looked strong off the bench in the last week of March, as he's scored in double digits in two of his last three contests and has tallied three blocks and three steals over this brief stretch. As long as he continues to log around 15 minutes per contest, Reed could be a streaming option for fantasy managers in search of rebounds and blocks down the stretch.
Mar 28, 2023
Near double-double off bench
Reed registered 16 points (7-7 FG, 2-3 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals across 17 minutes during Monday's 116-111 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
With Joel Embiid (rest) out, Dewayne Dedmon drew the start at center, but Reed saw more playing time and outproduced the veteran backup. Embiid is expected to be back in the lineup Wednesday against Dallas, so despite the near double-double, Reed doesn't have much fantasy intrigue moving forward.
Mar 17, 2023
Dynamic in limited minutes
Reed amassed eight points (4-8 FG), 10 rebounds and three blocks in 12 minutes during Friday's 121-82 victory over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Reed grabbed a few extra minutes Friday, cashing in as the game fell into garbage time. Known as a per-minute beast, Reed lived up to expectations, falling two rebounds short of a double-double, and adding three blocked shots. While there is nothing to do from a fantasy perspective, managers can only hope that Reed lands in a more favorable situation at some point.
Mar 7, 2023
Posts quality line in limited run
Reed finished Monday's 147-143 win over the Pacers with eight points (4-4 FG), four rebounds, three blocks, one assist and one steal in 11 minutes off the bench.
ANALYSIS
Reed has now played in each of Philadelphia's last 11 games and clearly seems to have surpassed Montrezl Harrell and Dewayne Dedmon as the team's preferred backup center. As was evident in his stat line Monday, Reed possesses the ability to post interesting fantasy numbers on a per-minute basis, but he won't get enough playing time to emerge as anything more than a deep-league option unless superstar Joel Embiid misses time. Reed has eclipsed 20 minutes just once in the aforementioned 11 games, and it came in the lone contest Embiid sat out during that stretch (March 1 in Miami).
Mar 2, 2023
Double-doubles off bench
Reed finished with 16 points (7-10 FG, 2-2 FT), 14 rebounds and two blocks across 29 minutes during Wednesday's 119-96 victory over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Reed has shown he can produce when given enough minutes, and Wednesday's game was no different, as he enjoyed an uptick in playing time due to the absence of Joel Embiid (foot) and responded with a double-double, his fourth of the season. Reed has four double-doubles in the four games in which he's logged at least 24 minutes, but his playing time moving forward will be directly related to Embiid's availability.
Feb 16, 2023
Scores five as reserve
Reed provided five points (2-2 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds and two blocks across nine minutes during Wednesday's 118-112 victory over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Reed saw a slight decrease in playing time Wednesday after logging double-digit minutes in his previous three appearances, but he made the most of his opportunities on both ends of the floor. He was perfect on his two field-goal attempts and led the team with two blocks, marking the third time in the last four games that he's had at least two blocks or steals.
Jan 8, 2023
Tallies double-double off bench
Reed logged 16 points (6-7 FG, 4-4 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist and three steals in 24 minutes during Sunday's 123-111 win over Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Reed led the bench in scoring while leading the team in rebounds during Sunday's victory. Reed notched his second-highest point and rebound totals of the year, having posted a double-double on three occurrences this season.
Dec 31, 2022
Minimal role again Saturday
Reed had two points (1-5 FG), three rebounds and one block in four minutes during Saturday's 115-96 win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Reed logged fewer than six minutes for the 11th straight game, continuing what has been a disappointing season. On the surface, it appears he should be getting playing time over the likes of Montrezl Harrell. Unfortunately, that has not been the case despite the fact Harrell has been nothing short of disastrous. Reed clearly has no place in most fantasy leagues but he is a player to watch should he supplant Harrell at some point down the track.
Nov 30, 2022
Makes all four shot attempts
Reed closed with nine points (4-4 FG, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one block across 14 minutes during Wednesday's 113-85 loss to the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Reed scored eight of his nine points in seven first-half minutes. He is 11-for-12 from the field over his last three contests and is averaging 7.0 points per game in that span. After playing just 7.2 minutes per game in his first 11 appearances, he's seen an uptick in minutes of late and is averaging 19.3 minutes over the last eight games.
Nov 28, 2022
Best option for Embiid in win
Reed ended with 12 points (6-6 FG), 13 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 30 minutes during Sunday's 133-103 win over Orlando.
ANALYSIS
It's usually a toss-up as to who has benefitted the most from Joel Embiid's (foot) absence, but it was Reed's turn Sunday, besting starter Montrezl Harrell with a double-double. Since the proper pivot for Embiid is unpredictable, using Reed or Harrell as a streaming option carries a modicum of risk.
Nov 22, 2022
Stellar showing off bench
Reed registered 19 points (7-9 FG, 5-6 FT), 10 rebounds, two blocks and three steals over 31 minutes during Tuesday's 115-106 win over the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Reed ignited this offense by dominating in the paint and also getting to the charity stripe, where he knocked down a season-high five free throws. He should continue to see opportunities to produce until Joel Embiid (foot) gets the green light to return, and it's worth noting the large uptick in minutes Reed saw during Tuesday's clash, jumping from 12 minutes Sunday to 31 minutes against Brooklyn.
Nov 12, 2022
Available Saturday
Reed (knee) is available for Saturday's game against the Hawks, Lauren Rosen of the 76ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed should continue seeing light backup minutes behind Joel Embiid. He has yet to record more than two points or four rebounds in a game this season.
Nov 11, 2022
Questionable vs. Hawks
Reed is questionable for Saturday's game against the Hawks due to a bruised right knee.
ANALYSIS
Reed has seen limited action as Joel Embiid's backup this season. If he's out Saturday, Georges Niang, P.J. Tucker or Montrezl Harrell could be in line for more minutes.
Oct 27, 2022
Plays three minutes vs. Toronto
Reed ended Wednesday's 119-109 loss to the Raptors with no counting stats over three minutes.
ANALYSIS
Reed has had minimal playing time for the 76ers early in the regular season, as he's appeared in three of the team's first five games and hasn't played more than nine minutes in any appearance. He was held without any counting stats during Wednesday's loss and is now averaging 0.7 rebounds in 5.7 minutes per game to begin the season.
Oct 11, 2022
Puts on defensive show in win
Reed totaled four points (2-5 FG), three rebounds, three steals, three blocks and two assists in 18 minutes during Monday's 113-97 victory over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Reed turned in another defensive masterclass in the win, highlighting just what he can bring to the table when afforded significant playing time. Unfortunately, his opportunities are likely to be limited during the regular season, capping his overall appeal. Managers in deeper formats would be wise to consider him with a final pick, while those in standard leagues could at least keep an eye on his role moving forward.
Oct 6, 2022
Grabs four steals
Reed scored five points (2-5 FG, 1-1 FT) to go along with six rebounds, two assists and four steals in 18 minutes against the Cavs on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Reed continued his solid play on Wednesday by contributing in multiple areas. While he only scored five points, four of which came in the first half, he played a major role on defense with three steals in the second half, including one on a bad pass from Mamadi Diakite with 0:46 left in the game to help the Cavs hold onto a narrow two-point lead. The 6-foot-9 small forward continues to show that he has the ability to grow into a solid player for Philladelpia as they head into the 2022-2023 regular season.
Oct 5, 2022
Moves to bench
Reed will come off the bench for Wednesday's preseason game against the Cavaliers, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed started in Monday's preseason opener against the Nets and posted 10 points, five rebounds, three steals and one block in 20 minutes of action. He'll shift to a reserve role Wednesday as Joel Embiid joins the starting unit for his preseason debut.
May 11, 2022
Solid production during blowout
Reed closed Tuesday's 120-85 loss to the Heat with seven points (3-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals over 16 minutes.
ANALYSIS
With the game out of hand early in the fourth, Reed and the rest of Philadelphia's reserves got extended playing time. The backup big man has shown flashes during the second-round series against Miami, but he's been unable to lock down a sizable role off the bench with Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris dominating the frontcourt minutes.
May 5, 2022
Solid play continues
Reed ended with four points (2-4 FG, 0-1 FT), four rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 25 minutes during Wednesday's 119-103 loss to Miami.
ANALYSIS
Reed has seen an uptick in playing time throughout the playoffs, showcasing the ability to contribute defensive stats, rebounds and buckets inside. While he hasn't assembled any dazzling stat lines, the 22-year-old DePaul product has flashed potential in his second season.
Apr 11, 2022
Goes for 25 points off bench
Reed amassed 25 points (12-14 FG, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, two assists, one block and four steals across 21 minutes during Sunday's 118-106 victory over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Aside from two spot starts in early November, Reed never logged more than 15 minutes in any game this season until the regular-season finale, where he also registered his best performance of the campaign -- and just his second game with double-digit scoring figures. He averaged just 7.9 minutes per game during the regular season, however, so he's not expected to play a big role in the postseason.
Apr 7, 2022
Seven boards in limited minutes
Reed recorded 5 points (2-2 FG, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds and one steal in Thursday's 119-114 loss to Toronto.
ANALYSIS
After grabbing just nine rebounds in his last nine appearances, Reed hauled in seven boards in just 11 minutes of play to finish second among the team in that category. The second-year forward has bounced between the G League and active roster for much of the season but has shown glimpses of his future potential.
Feb 13, 2022
Steps in as backup center
Reed recorded six points (3-8 FG), seven rebounds and three steals across 15 minutes Saturday in the 76ers' 103-93 win over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
For the second game in a row, Reed served as the main backup to Joel Embiid following Thursday's blockbuster trade that sent Andre Drummond to the Nets. Despite being an undersized for the position at a listed 6-foot-9 and 218 pounds, Reed has put up quality numbers across the past two contests, averaging 6.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks in 14.0 minutes. While he looks to have leapfrogged rookie Charles Bassey on the depth chart at center, Reed may not stick in the rotation once Paul Millsap -- whom the 76ers acquired in that same deal Thursday -- is cleared to make his team debut.
Feb 11, 2022
Recalled from G League
Reed was recalled from the G League by the 76ers for Friday's game against the Thunder, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Philadelphia will likely be short-handed Friday in the wake of the trade deadline, so Reed and Jaden Springer will come up from the Blue Coats in the G League to provide some depth. Reed has appeared in 21 NBA games this season and averages 2.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 8.8 minutes.
Jan 31, 2022
Recalled by 76ers
Reed was recalled by the 76ers on Monday, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed has played a prominent role for the G League's Delaware Blue Coats recently, but he'll now join the parent club ahead of Monday's game against the Grizzlies. Across 22 appearances with the 76ers this year, the 22-year-old has averaged just 2.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 8.8 minutes per game.
Jan 11, 2022
Available Wednesday
Reed (COVID-19 protocols) is not on the injury report for Wednesday's contest against the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Reed has missed the past three games while in protocols. That said, he's not a consistent part of the rotation, so his availability shouldn't change things.
Jan 4, 2022
Enters COVID-19 protocols
Reed (COVID-19 protocols) won't play Wednesday against the Magic.
ANALYSIS
According to the injury report, Reed entered the NBA's health and safety protocols Tuesday. In his absence, Charles Bassey could see a slight uptick in minutes.
Dec 19, 2021
Recalled by Philadelphia
Reed was recalled by the 76ers on Sunday, Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Sixers are dealing with several key absences ahead of Monday's game against Boston, so Reed will provide additional depth. He's averaging just 2.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 9.5 minutes per game with the parent club this year.
Dec 15, 2021
Available Wednesday
Reed was recalled to the 76ers ahead of Wednesday's contest against the Heat, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
With Joel Embiid (ribs) questionable and Georges Niang (COVID-19 protocols) out, Reed will provide some much needed depth to Philadelphia's frontcourt. The 2020 second-round pick is averaging 20.3 points and 12.0 rebounds in the G League, but he hasn't appeared in an NBA game since Nov. 24.
Nov 30, 2021
Back to G League
Reed was assigned to the G League's Delaware Blue Coats on Monday, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
With Joel Embiid out due to COVID-19 protocols, Reed carved out a role in the 76ers' regular rotation and even drew a pair of starts. However, with Embiid back at full strength, Reed likely won't see much playing time at the NBA level, so he is expected to be a frequent visitor to the G League to get regular playing time.
Nov 29, 2021
Heads back to NBA
The 76ers recalled Reed from the G League's Delaware Blue Coats on Monday, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
He'll be available off the bench for Monday's contest against the Magic after an impressive two-game showing in the G League over the weekend. Between his two outings with Delaware, Reed averaged 24.5 points (on 58.8 percent shooting from the field), 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 29.8 minutes. Now that Joel Embiid is healthy for the 76ers after a bout with COVID-19, Reed likely won't have a path to seeing minutes in the frontcourt.
Nov 11, 2021
Coming off bench
Reed will come off the bench Thursday against the Raptors, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
The 76ers are much healthier, so Reed will resume his usual bench role. As a reserve, he's averaging 1.7 points and 2.6 rebounds in 6.9 minutes.
Nov 9, 2021
Starting vs. Bucks
Reed will start Tuesday's game against the Bucks, Justin Grasso of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed will replace Danny Green in the starting five and get the nod at power forward. In his previous start this season, Reed played 22 minutes and posted 10 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block.
Nov 8, 2021
Moves back to bench
Reed will come off the bench Monday against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Reed started Saturday against the Bulls and put up 10 points (5-6 FG), five rebounds, one steal and one block in 22 minutes, but he'll return to the bench Monday. The 22-year-old should still be involved as a reserve since Joel Embiid (COVID-19 protocols), Tobias Harris (illness) and Matisse Thybulle (COVID-19 protocols) remain sidelined.
Nov 6, 2021
Enters starting five
Reed will start Saturday's game against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
The Sixers are dealing with a myriad of absences, and coach Doc Rivers will give Reed a chance to open the game at power forward. It's not clear how many minutes he'll receive, but Paul has unquestionably shown upside in the past. Per 36 minutes for his career, he's averaging 16.3 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.6 blocks and 1.8 steals.
Aug 15, 2021
Turns in monster Summer League line
Reed finished Sunday's MGM Resorts Summer League loss to Minnesota with 27 points (11-17 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 20 rebounds, four assists, four steals and four blocks.
ANALYSIS
While the Sixers fell in overtime, Reed stole the show with one of the most well-rounded stat lines in Summer League history in 34 minutes of action. The second-year forward didn't have many opportunities to shine with the Sixers as a rookie, but he dominated the G League, taking home league MVP and Rookie of the Year honors, while also making the G League All-Defensive First Team. Looking ahead, the 2020 second-round pick's role will likely be fairly limited again n 2021-22, but Reed should have a chance to emerge as a regular part of the frontcourt rotation behind Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris.
Aug 2, 2021
Will play in Summer League
Reed will play in Summer League for the 76ers, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed made 26 appearances for the Sixers in 2020-21 and averaged 3.4 points and 2.3 rebounds across 6.8 minutes per game. The 22-year-old should be a solid contributor in Summer League.
May 17, 2021
Double-doubles in finale
Reed provided 17 points (7-13 FG, 3-4 FT), 12 rebounds, three assists, a steal and a blocked shot across 24 minutes in Sunday's 128-117 win over the Magic.
ANALYSIS
The Sixers proved why they are a playoff-caliber team in the finale as they showed off their extreme depth by sitting all of their starters. The scenario proved fruitful for Reed, who came off the bench to produce a solid total. A crowded depth chart hampers his impact, and his 24 minutes Sunday was an outlier. The 2020 second-round pick may have to wait a year before he has a significant impact.
Apr 27, 2021
Sniffs double-double off bench
Reed mustered 10 points (5-7 FG), nine rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal across 10 minutes off the bench in Monday's win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Reed only logged 10 minutes off the bench but was highly effective, missing just two shots and ending just one board away from a double-double. Despite this strong performance, Reed shouldn't see enough minutes off the bench to be a reliable fantasy contributor going forward.
Apr 22, 2021
Drops four points Thursday
Reed added four points (2-3 FG) and two rebounds in Thursday's loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
The forward mustered his first points since posting three versus the Thunder on April 10. Since tallying 10 points and six rebounds in 13 minutes against the Grizzlies on April 4, Reed has totaled just five points and six rebounds across six appearances.
Apr 4, 2021
Scores season-high 10 points
Reed mustered 10 points (5-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block across 13 minutes off the bench in Sunday's loss against the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Reed didn't have many minutes to showcase what he can do, but he made the most of his limited on-court time to post his best scoring output of the campaign. He holds a minimal off the bench in most games for the Sixers, however, so he is not expected to hold a lot of upside going forward unless Philadelphia is seriously depleted when it comes to injuries or absences.
Mar 26, 2021
Signs standard contract
Reed signed a standard NBA contract with the 76ers on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Reed was named the 2021 G League Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year after he averaged 22.3 points and 11.8 rebounds over 31.5 minutes per game with the Blue Coats this year. He had been with the 76ers on a two-way contract but will now have a standard NBA deal going forward. Reed is averaging 3.3 points and 1.9 rebounds over 9.1 minutes per game with Philadelphia this year.
Jan 9, 2021
Cleared to play
Reed (health and safety protocols) was cleared to play Saturday against the Nuggets, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed was one of several players who were going through contact tracing after teammate Seth Curry tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, but he'll be able to play against Denver. The 76ers will be without several contributors Saturday due to the league's health and safety protocols, so Reed could see an increased role for Philadelphia.
Jan 8, 2021
Deemed questionable Saturday
Reed is questionable for Saturday's game against the Nuggets due to health and safety protocols.
ANALYSIS
Reed has appeared in just one game for the 76ers this year, but he's questionable Saturday due to the league's health and safety protocols. If he's unable to suit up, his absence likely wouldn't impact Philadelphia's rotation plans.
Nov 29, 2020
Lands two-way deal
Reed agreed Saturday with the 76ers on a two-way contract, Justin Grasso of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 6-foot-9 power forward, whom the 76ers nabbed with the 58th overall pick in the draft earlier this month, will be able to spend up to 50 games at the NBA level in 2020-21 under the conditions of his deal. The DePaul product posted some intriguing numbers on the defensive end during his final season of college basketball, but he may have a tough time emerging as a regular in the rotation in his first NBA season.
