Won't play Tuesday
Castle (hip) is out for Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.comreports.
ANALYSIS
Castle is not ready to return from a hip flexor strain. Julian Champagnie and Dylan Harper are both worth streaming in most fantasy settings until the Spurs offer an update on Castle's timeline for a return.
Nov 29, 2025
Ruled out for Sunday
Castle (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Timberwolves, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle sustained a left hip flexor strain Nov. 16, and the Spurs have yet to release a clear timetable for his return to game action. The second-year guard is expected to be re-evaluated in the near future, though Julian Champagnie and Dylan Harper will likely pick up the slack until Castle is cleared to return.
Nov 18, 2025
To be re-evaluated in 1-2 weeks
Castle sustained a left hip flexor strain and will be re-evaluated in 1-2 weeks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle suffered the hip injury in Sunday's win over the Kings and is now expected to miss an extended period. With the second-year guard joining Dylan Harper (calf) on the sidelines, Julian Champagnie and Keldon Johnson are candidates for increased minutes, while Lindy Waters and Jordan McLaughlin (hamstring) -- once he's healthy -- could enter the rotation. Castle has impressed through 13 regular-season appearances thus far, averaging 17.3 points, 7.5 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals while shooting 49.7 percent from the field in 32.0 minutes per contest.

Won't play Tuesday
Castle (hip) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies, Don Harris of News 4 San Antonio reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle didn't play in the second half of Sunday's win over the Kings and will now miss Tuesday's contest due to left hip flexor soreness. With the 2024-25 Rookie of the Year joining Dylan Harper (calf) and Jordan McLaughlin (hamstring) on the sidelines, Julian Champagnie, Keldon Johnson and Lindy Waters are likely to see increased playing time. Castle's next opportunity to play will come Thursday against the Hawks.
Nov 16, 2025
Won't return vs. Sacramento
Castle (hip) won't return to Sunday's game against the Kings, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle is dealing with a left hip injury and won't play in the second half. He'll finish with four points (1-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five assists and one steal across 16 minutes. With the second-year guard sidelined, Julian Champagnie and Lindy Waters are candidates for increased minutes the rest of the way. Castle's next opportunity to play will come Tuesday against Memphis.
Nov 15, 2025
Flirts with double-double in loss
Castle supplied 13 points (4-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-8 FT), nine rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal across 36 minutes during Friday's 109-108 loss to Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Castle logged his first career triple-double in the previous game against the Warriors, and he followed it up with a steady line despite recording lower shot volume in the back end of the two-game set against Golden State. The reunited backcourt of Castle and De'Aaron Fox is excelling since Fox's return to action, although the losses to the Warriors dropped the team's record to 2-2 with the backcourt combo intact. The 2024-25 Rookie of the Year is on track to replicate and possibly exceed his freshman campaign, averaging 18.4 points, 7.8 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals over the season's first 12 games.
Nov 13, 2025
First career triple-double
Castle had 23 points (9-16 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-7 FT), 10 rebounds and 10 assists across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 125-120 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Castle extended his hot streak with the first triple-double of his career in Wednesday's loss. That means he's now recorded four straight games with either a double-double or a triple-double. Victor Wembanyama is the undisputed go-to option on offense for the Spurs, but Castle has been doing a good job to potentially become the No. 2 alternative ahead of De'Aaron Fox with his recent play. Castle, who was named the Rookie of the Year in the 2024-25 campaign, is averaging 19.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 10.0 assists per game during this prolific four-game stretch.
Nov 11, 2025
Another double-double Monday
Castle totaled 19 points (8-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, 11 assists and three steals over 32 minutes during Monday's 121-117 victory over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Castle recorded his third straight double-double, continuing to surprise many around the league. He now has a combined 38 assists in his past three appearances, despite the fact that De'Aaron Fox is back in the lineup. While these numbers are likely unsustainable, it does make him a more appealing fantasy target. Continue to roster him with confidence, keeping in mind that Fox could take on more of a facilitator role as he continues to get healthier.
Nov 7, 2025
Double-doubles in win
Castle had 14 points (5-12 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), six rebounds, 13 assists, one block and two steals over 36 minutes during Friday's 121-110 victory over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Castle has been struggling from an efficiency standpoint over the past two games, going 8-23 from the floor and 1-9 from the perimeter, but he should bust out of his shooting funk soon enough. He also committed another five turnovers in this one, and the turnovers have been a season-long issue, but he's still delivering with the counting stats. Through his first eight games of the year, Castle has provided averages of 18.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.3 triples and 2.0 steals per game.
Nov 6, 2025
Productive in narrow loss
Castle ended with 16 points (3-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 9-11 FT), five rebounds, eight assists and three steals over 37 minutes during Wednesday's 118-116 loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
The eight dimes tied his season high, and Castle continues to provide an impressive fantasy floor, recording multiple steals in four straight games while pulling down at least five boards in seven straight to begin the season. Castle is averaging 19.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.4 threes while shooting 51.8 percent from the floor, and last season's Rookie of the Year seems poised to take a big step forward in 2025-26.
Nov 3, 2025
Drops season-high 26 in loss
Castle registered 26 points (10-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals over 34 minutes during Sunday's 130-118 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
With Victor Wembanyama having a rare poor night, Castle led the Spurs in points and assists while setting a new season high in scoring. The second-year guard could see his usage increase even further after Dylan Harper (calf) left the game and didn't return, leaving the backcourt very shorthanded with De'Aaron Fox (hamstring) still waiting to be cleared for his season debut. Through six games, Castle is averaging 20.0 points, 6.2 boards, 5.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 threes in 32.0 minutes a contest.
Oct 31, 2025
Turns in 21 points during win
Castle racked up 21 points (7-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-7 FT), six rebounds, eight assists, one block and four steals in 35 minutes during Thursday's 107-101 win over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
De'Aaron Fox (hamstring) is close to returning, which should take some pressure off of Castle. He's performing extremely well while assuming Fox's role, and the transition should be seamless as he'll move over to the off-guard position once Fox makes his debut. Castle posted a season-high eight assists during the win, and he also collected four steals, marking his best total in that category as well.
Oct 28, 2025
Goes for 22 points in win
Castle registered 22 points (6-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 9-14 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 31 minutes during Monday's 121-103 victory over Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Castle continued his strong start to the season, having scored at least 13 points in all four games. Coming off an impressive rookie campaign, Castle has solidifed himself as a key piece of the starting unit. The eventual return of De'Aaron Fox from a hamstring injury is going to impact Castle in one way or another. Whether he remains in the starting lineup remains to be seen, although Julian Champagnie would be arguably the favorite to move to the bench.
Oct 25, 2025
Continues balanced start
Castle recorded 16 points (5-12 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-6 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal in 33 minutes during Friday's 120-116 overtime victory over the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
The sophomore season is off to a good start for the reigning rookie of the year. After scoring 22 points in the season opener, he added 16 Friday including a trio of made threes. He coupled the scoring with a second straight game topping five assists and rebounds each. San Antonio is off to a 2-0 start with the UConn product in the starting point guard role. So far, Castle is picking right up where he left off last season, but that could be impacted when De'Aaron Fox makes his eventual return.
Oct 23, 2025
Steps up in opening victory
Castle totaled 22 points (8-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-10 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and two steals over 29 minutes during Wednesday's 125-92 victory over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Castle was a force to be reckoned with, despite playing second fiddle to Victor Wembanyama. Coming off an impressive rookie season, Castle wasted no time reminding everyone what he can do on a basketball court. The Spurs dominated the Mavericks, putting up a statement victory on Opening Night. Until De'Aaron Fox returns from his hamstring injury, look for Castle to be a focal point on offense.
Oct 18, 2025
Nears double-double in win
Castle posted 16 points (5-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), nine assists, two rebounds and two steals over 25 minutes in Friday's 133-104 preseason win over the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Castle was second on the team in points, only behind Victor Wembanyama (17) and led the team in assists. With De'Aaron Fox (hamstring) out indefinitely to begin the season, it appears a majority of the playmaking opportunities will be inherited by Castle, which he was able to take advantage of in the preseason finale.
Oct 16, 2025
Team option picked up
The Spurs have exercised Castle's third-year team option for the 2026-27 season, Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
No surprise here, as Castle is shaping up as one of San Antonio's franchise cornerstones alongside Victor Wembanyama. The 2024 first-rounder is the reigning Rookie of the Year, having averaged 14.7 points, 4.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 26.7 minutes per game across 81 regular-season outings (41 starts) last year.
Oct 14, 2025
Scores 14 points in preseason win
Castle contributed 14 points (5-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-5 FT), four assists, three rebounds, three steals and one block across 19 minutes in Monday's 124-108 preseason win over the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Castle made his preseason debut after sustaining a minor knee injury during a scrimmage last Monday. The second-year guard was one of five San Antonio players to score in double figures and also matched the game-high mark in steals. The 20-year-old is coming off Rookie of the Year honors in the 2024-25 campaign, during which he averaged 14.7 points, 4.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals across 26.7 minutes per game in 81 regular-season outings (41 starts).
Oct 13, 2025
Will play Monday
Castle (knee) is available and starting in Monday's preseason game against the Pacers, Alex Golden of the 'Setting the Pace' podcast reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Castle will make his preseason debut after sustaining a minor knee injury in a scrimmage last Monday. The 2024-25 Rookie of the Year will replace Keldon Johnson in the starting five against Indiana.
Oct 13, 2025
Expected to play Monday
Castle (knee) is expected to make his preseason debut Monday against the Pacers, Dan Weiss of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle has been nursing a minor knee injury throughout the preseason, but it appears he'll be out there Monday evening, which will likely translate to fewer minutes for Julian Champagnie, Dylan Harper and Lindy Waters. Check back closer to tip-off for official confirmation on Castle's status.
Oct 10, 2025
Out again Friday
Castle (knee) won't play in Friday's preseason game against the Jazz, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle will miss his third straight preseason contest Friday. He suffered a knee injury during a scrimmage Monday, and it appears the Spurs are going to tread lightly. For now, there's been no talk of Castle's status for Opening Night being in danger.
Oct 8, 2025
Won't play vs. Miami
Castle (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's preseason game against the Heat, Dan Weiss of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle will be among many players for the Spurs who won't take the floor. Devin Vassell (rest), however, will play on the road in Miami. Castle suffered a knee injury during a scrimmage Monday, but the issue isn't considered severe.
Oct 6, 2025
Sitting out Monday
Castle (undisclosed) will not play in Monday's preseason game against Guangzhou Loong-Lions, Dan Weiss of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest reports.
ANALYSIS
The Spurs are sitting a number of their key players Monday, and it's not immediately clear if this is just a maintenance day for Castle. The guard banged his knee in a scrimmage Sunday, but the reports after it indicated that he was fine. His next chance to play comes Wednesday against Miami.
Oct 5, 2025
Bangs knee, expected to be fine
Castle banged his knee in a scrimmage Monday but is expected to be fine, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle went to the locker room during the scrimmage but is expected to be available for Wednesday's preseason game against the Heat. The 2024-25 Rookie of the Year started 47 of his 81 regular-season appearances last season, during which he averaged 14.7 points, 4.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals across 26.7 minutes per game.
Apr 13, 2025
All-around effort against Toronto
Castle produced 20 points (5-16 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 9-9 FT), eight rebounds and six assists across 37 minutes during Sunday's 125-118 win over Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Castle didn't have the most efficient day, but he managed to lead the Spurs' starters in scoring and rebounds and finished tied with Chris Paul for most assists. Castle started in the Spurs' final 18 games of the regular season, and over that span the rookie first-round pick averaged 19.1 points, 6.2 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 0.8 steals over 30.8 minutes per contest.
Apr 10, 2025
Solid game in narrow victory
Castle recorded 21 points (8-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-7 FT), three rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals over 35 minutes during Wednesday's 114-111 victory over the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Castle made another case for Rookie of the Year honors with an excellent line as the season winds down. The Spurs have looked sharp despite dropping some narrow losses in the closing weeks, and a lot of their success is due to Castle's playmaking.. The team has formed a dangerous core that could make some noise next season with Victor Wembanyama back in the lineup.
Apr 9, 2025
Logs decent 19/8 line in loss
Castle contributed 19 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 8-12 FT), one rebound, eight assists and two blocks in 32 minutes during Tuesday's 122-117 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Castle shot up the Kia rookie ladder and appears poised to take the coveted title of Rookie of the Year despite legit challenges from Zaccharie Risacher and Alex Sarr. Castle's late-season run has given him the best odds to win in Vegas, and contender Jaylen Wells' (wrist) season-ending injury has barred him from making a solid last impression. HIs omission could send more votes Castle's way.
Apr 7, 2025
Posts terrific line in loss
Castle produced 22 points (7-17 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-9 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal across 31 minutes during Sunday's 120-109 loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Castle has been leading the Spurs in usage rate over his last eight outings. His counting stats have been solid with 18.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.3 three-pointers, but his efficiency is holding him back -- he shot 40.5 percent from the field and 68.9 percent from the line with 3.0 turnovers per game in that stretch.
Apr 5, 2025
Just misses triple-double
Castle produced 22 points (8-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), nine rebounds, 11 assists and one steal over 33 minutes during Friday's 114-113 loss to the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
The rookie guard came one board short of his first career triple-double. Castle has looked good to close out his first NBA campaign and hasn't wilted under an increased workload and usage for the injury-plagued Spurs -- while starting the last 13 games, the fourth overall pick in the 2024 Draft has averaged 18.8 points, 5.9 assists, 5.8 boards, 1.4 threes and 1.2 combined steals and blocks in 30.0 minutes a contest.
Apr 3, 2025
Flirts with triple-double Wednesday
Castle produced 15 points (6-18 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 15 rebounds and nine assists in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 113-106 win over Denver.
ANALYSIS
The rookie guard was the Spurs' leading rebounder Wednesday, also coming a lone assist shy of a triple-double. Castle has been very productive as the focal point of San Antonio's offense in the absences of Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) and De'Aaron Fox (finger), having averaged 18.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.4 three-pointers in 29.6 minutes across his last 12 games.
Apr 1, 2025
Logs team high in boards Tuesday
Castle posted 16 points (6-13 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), eight rebounds, six assists and one block over 35 minutes during Tuesday's 116-105 loss to the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Castle led the Spurs with a team-high eight rebounds Tuesday, marking just his sixth outing on the season with at least eight boards. The rookie first-round pick also finished with the club's third-highest point total, logging at least 15 points for the 10th time over his last 11 appearances. The 20-year-old should continue to see plenty of opportunity on a non-contending Spurs team that is without its two best players in Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) and De'Aaron Fox (finger).
Mar 31, 2025
Poor shooting effort Sunday
Castle had nine points (3-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 22 minutes during Sunday's 148-106 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Castle struggled badly from the floor and stumbled into a wall in this matchup, which could've easily been expected given how good he'd been playing in recent weeks. Prior to this blowout loss, Castle had scored at least 15 points in each of his previous nine starts, so in a way, some regression was expected as opposing teams start to plan how to stop him. One bad game won't remove everything Castle has accomplished as a rookie, though. He's averaging 19.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game since moving to a starting role in mid-March following the season-ending injury of De'Aaron Fox (finger).
Mar 30, 2025
Hits for 22 in Saturday's loss
Castle registered 22 points (7-18 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 7-10 FT), two rebounds, eight assists and one steal in 30 minutes during Saturday's 121-111 loss to Boston.
ANALYSIS
The rookie led the Spurs' starting five in scoring, as Castle continues to step up in the absence of the team's two biggest stars, Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) and De'Aaron Fox (finger). Castle has started nine straight games and scored at least 15 points each time, averaging 20.3 points, 5.4 assists, 4.4 boards, 1.4 threes and 1.1 steals as he positions himself for what should be a prominent role in the rotation in 2025-26.
Mar 28, 2025
Sniffs triple-double
Castle amassed 22 points (9-23 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-6 FT), 11 rebounds, eight assists and one steal across 32 minutes during Thursday's 124-116 loss to the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Castle continues to justify this selection as one of the top picks in the 2024 NBA Draft, and there's a strong argument to say he's been the best first-year player in The Association this season, even ahead of Alex Sarr and Zaccharie Risacher. Castle has started in the Spurs' last eight games following the news that De'Aaron Fox (finger) won't return this season and has been thriving, averaging 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game in that span.
Mar 25, 2025
Pours in 19 points in defeat
Castle recorded 19 points (7-15 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-6 FT), four assists, two rebounds and one steal in 30 minutes during Tuesday's 122-96 loss to Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Castle continued his solid play in the starting five on Tuesday, racking up at least 15 points for a seventh consecutive contest (all starts). However, the 20-year-old struggled from beyond the arc in the blowout loss, and he has shot only 20.0 percent from downtown in his last three games. The rookie first-round pick has received an increased role due to De'Aaron Fox (finger) being sidelined, and Castle should continue to serve as one of the club's top options on the offensive end.
Mar 25, 2025
Available vs. Detroit
Castle (knee) has been cleared to play in Tuesday's game against the Pistons, NBA reporter Matthew Tynan reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle is coming off a 15-point performance in Sunday's win against the Raptors, despite dealing with a right knee issue. The rookie is averaging 14.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game, shooting 42.8 percent from the floor and 28.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Mar 24, 2025
Questionable for Tuesday
Castle is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Pistons due to a right knee hyperextension.
ANALYSIS
This is a new injury for Castle, and it's a big concern for fantasy managers as the Spurs tend to be super cautious. If Castle is unable to give it a go, Chris Paul could offer a higher floor in fantasy formats. Blake Wesley would also be a candidate for a larger role in that scenario.
Mar 22, 2025
Elite passing display Friday
Castle ended Friday's 128-120 victory over Philadelphia with 17 points (6-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds, 14 assists, one block and three steals in 35 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Castle didn't reach the 20-point mark for the fourth time across his last five games, but the rookie out of Arizona thrived as a playmaker and finished with a career-high mark in the assists category -- which is even more impressive considering he shares the backcourt with an all-time elite floor general in Chris Paul. Castle has been nothing short of excellent in his last five starts, averaging 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.2 steals across 31.0 minutes per game.
Mar 20, 2025
Fills stat sheet in win
Castle logged 22 points (8-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-6 FT), three rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal over 27 minutes during Wednesday's 120-105 win over New York.
ANALYSIS
Castle has been the most productive rookie in the NBA this season, and it hasn't been even close. This was his 20th game with at least 20 points in 2024-25, and to put things into perspective, no other rookie has recorded even 10 outings with such a scoring figure. Castle has scored in double digits in all but one of his 11 appearances in March, tallying 20.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game over that stretch.
Mar 18, 2025
Productive in loss Monday
Castle registered 23 points (8-19 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight rebounds and three assists across 28 minutes during Monday's 125-109 loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Castle has started each of the Spurs' last three games and is expected to remain as a starter in the backcourt alongside Chris Paul due to the absence of De'Aaron Fox (finger), who won't return this season. The rookie out of UConn has been making the most of his chances in a starting role, and he's surpassed the 20-point mark in two of those aforementioned three contests. Across 32 starts this season, Castle is averaging 15.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
Mar 15, 2025
Leads team with 26 points in start
Castle closed with 26 points (10-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 29 minutes during Friday's 145-134 loss to the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
In his first start since the Spurs lost De'Aaron Fox (finger) for the rest of the season, Castle led the Spurs in scoring Friday while supplying a full stat line. The rookie first-rounder has witnessed a considerable rise in fantasy value as part of the first unit in 2024-25, which should continue going forward. Over his last 11 games as a starter, Castle has averaged 18.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.7 three-pointers in 29.7 minutes.
Mar 14, 2025
Back in starting lineup
Castle is in the Spurs' starting lineup against the Hornets on Friday, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle has come off the bench since Feb. 5 following the Spurs' acquisition of De'Aaron Fox (finger) from the Kings. With Fox out for the season, Castle will reenter the starting lineup alongside Chris Paul in the frontcourt. As a starter this season, Castle has averaged 15.1 points, 4.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 0.9 steals over 29.7 minutes per game.
Mar 10, 2025
Officially cleared
Castle (shoulder) will play Monday against the Mavericks, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle will assume his usual role off the bench despite dealing with a minor shoulder injury. He's provided quite the spark for San Antonio of late, averaging 23.3 points in 29.2 minutes over his last six appearances.
Mar 10, 2025
Likely to suit up Monday
Castle (shoulder) is probable for Monday's game against Dallas, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle is expected to avoid an absence due to the left shoulder contusion, though he'll likely go through pregame warmups ahead of Monday's tipoff at 8:30 p.m. ET until the club makes a final decision. Over his last 10 outings, the rookie first-round pick has averaged 16.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals across 24.8 minutes per contest.
Mar 10, 2025
Questionable for Monday
Castle is questionable for Monday's game against the Mavericks due to a left shoulder contusion, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This is a new injury for the rookie, who put up 20 points (7-15 FG), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal in 28 minutes during Sunday's loss in Minnesota. With Jeremy Sochan (calf) doubtful, Julian Champaigne and Keldon Johnson are candidates for increased roles against Dallas.
Mar 10, 2025
Strong showing from second unit
Castle produced 20 points (7-15 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 6-9 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal in 28 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 141-124 loss to the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
The rookie guard has found a groove as part of the Spurs' second unit. Castle has scored at least 20 points in five of the last six games, averaging 23.3 points, 5.2 boards, 4.7 assists, 1.7 threes and 1.2 steals over that stretch while shooting 50.9 percent from the floor. With Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) out for the rest of the season, Castle's usage should remain high as San Antonio scrambles to find offense.
Mar 8, 2025
Leads team with 25 points
Castle produced 25 points (10-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes before fouling out of Friday's 127-109 loss to the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Castle excelled on a night where De'Aaron Fox was projected to post a big number against his former team. Instead, Castle was the top backcourt option, besting Fox and Chris Paul with a solid and accurate evening. The 2024 first-round pick will likely see more time down the stretch, as he'll move into a full-time role if Paul doesn't sign another one-year deal in the offseason.
Mar 4, 2025
Leads second unit in win
Castle finished with 17 points (8-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 0-4 FT), six assists, four rebounds and two steals across 27 minutes during Tuesday's 127-113 win over the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Castle provided a full stat line in the win, leading the second unit in points and assists. The 20-year-old also racked up multiple swipes for the 15th time this season. However, the rookie first-round pick struggled from beyond the arc once again, and he has shot only 24.3 percent from downtown in eight outings since the All-Star break. On the bright side, Castle continues to provide a spark off the bench, averaging 15.4 points across 24.3 minutes per contest in that same eight-game span.
Mar 4, 2025
Good to go Tuesday
Castle (thumb) is available for Tuesday's game against Brooklyn, according to Spurs reporter Raul Dominguez.
ANALYSIS
Castle was previously considered questionable to play, but the rookie guard will give it a go Tuesday. He's been hot lately, averaging 26.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.3 steals over his last four games.
Mar 3, 2025
Iffy for Tuesday
Castle (thumb) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
The left thumb sprain is a new injury for Castle, who hasn't missed an outing since Dec. 13. The rookie first-round pick is coming off a stellar 32-point performance during Sunday's loss to the Thunder. Over his last five outings, he has averaged 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.6 three-pointers across 25.6 minutes per game off the bench. If Castle is sidelined Tuesday, Julian Champagnie and Malaki Branham could see a bump in minutes.
Mar 3, 2025
32 points not enough in loss
Castle ended Sunday's 146-132 loss to the Thunder with 32 points (12-21 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 4-7 FT), eight rebounds and three assists across 32 minutes.
ANALYSIS
With 32 points, Castle finished one point shy of his career-best mark. He's been on a mini heater for the Spurs, averaging 26.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.3 three-pointers in 31.5 minutes over his last three outings. The heavy usage for Castle could continue for the shorthanded Spurs, as well.
Mar 2, 2025
Shines off bench Saturday
Castle totaled 24 points (8-16 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 32 minutes during Saturday's 130-128 victory over Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Castle surpassed the 20-point mark for the second consecutive appearance, and the rookie continues to shine despite not being part of the first unit. He also bounced back from a couple of subpar performances, and he's been a reliable option off the bench for the most part. He's averaging 15.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game across 11 contests since moving to the bench in early February.
Feb 27, 2025
Drops team-high 22 off bench
Castle ended with 22 points (9-22 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in 30 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 118-106 loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
The rookie wing tied Keldon Johnson for the team lead in scoring as no Spurs starter managed to score even in double digits. It was Castle's best offensive performance since he poured in 33 points against the Hornets on Feb. 7, and it was an impressive bounce-back effort after the UConn product managed only six points combined in the prior two contests. Over 10 games as part of the second unit, Castle is averaging 14.5 points, 3.8 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.5 steaks and 0.9 threes in 22.7 minutes a game.
Feb 25, 2025
Quiet in loss
Castle totaled four points (1-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and four rebounds over 12 minutes during Tuesday's 109-103 loss to New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Castle received fewer than 13 minutes of playing time for the first time since Dec. 29, failing to leave a positive impact off the bench. The rookie first-round pick has put together a fairly successful season thus far. However, he has struggled in his last two outings, during which he has accumulated only six points (2-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 34 total minutes.
Feb 21, 2025
Double-double in Thursday's win
Castle recorded 10 points (4-12 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and three steals over 26 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 120-109 win over the Suns.
ANALYSIS
After a strong all-around showing during All-Star Weekend, Castle kept his momentum going by recording his first career double-double when the Spurs' schedule resumed. The fourth overall pick in the 2024 Draft lost his starting spot when De'Aaron Fox arrived from Sacramento, but Castle could be leaned on more heavily from the second unit with Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) out for the rest of the season, and his length in the backcourt could be very valuable as San Antonio shifts to more small-ball lineups. In six games off the bench, Castle has averaged 17.5 points, 4.0 boards, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.2 threes in 25.0 minutes a contest.
Feb 16, 2025
Solid outing in All-Star Game
Castle recorded six points (3-7 FG, 0-2 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 11 minutes during Sunday's 42-35 All-Star Game semifinal loss to Shaq's OGs.
ANALYSIS
Castle put together a solid all-around performance in the Rising Stars' first-round loss, tying a game-high with two steals and adding six points. Castle has been slotted to a bench role after the acquisition of De'Aaron Fox, but he has still been a consistent contributor, averaging 19.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals in 24.8 minutes per contest over his last five appearances. The Spurs will return to the front end of a back-to-back set Thursday.
Feb 16, 2025
Starting for Rising Stars
Castle will start Sunday's All-Star Game against Team Shaq, per the NBA broadcast.
ANALYSIS
Castle and Team Rising Stars won the Rising Stars title and advanced to play in Sunday's All-Star Game tournament. Castle won the Rising Stars MVP and took second place in the Dunk Contest thus far at All-Star Weekend.
Feb 15, 2025
Runner-up in Dunk Contest
Castle was the runner up to Mac McClung in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest after scoring 99.6 in the final round.
ANALYSIS
Castle got the contest started with a nifty reverse windmill dunk that earned a score of 47.2. He followed that up with a lob dunk that scored 47.8, and his cumulative score was enough to beat out Andre Jackson and Matas Buzelis to qualify for the finals against McClung. Castle earned a perfect 50 for his second dunk of the final round, and despite earning a 49.6 on his first dunk, it wasn't enough to unseat McClung, who scored 50 on all four of his dunk attempts of the night. Castle won Rising Stars MVP honors Friday, and the rookie first-round pick will wrap up the weekend by participating in the All-Star Game Tournament on Team Candace, who will face off against Team Shaq in the first round.
Feb 14, 2025
Wins Rising Stars MVP
Castle claimed Rising Stars MVP honors Friday after tallying 12 points (5-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and two assists over 7:34 of court time in Team C's 25-14 win over Team G League in the finals.
ANALYSIS
Team C demonstrated a balanced scoring effort during its 40-34 win over Team T in the semifinals, during which Castle finished with six points, four assists and four rebounds and hit the game-clinching shot. Castle carried the scoring load for Team C in the finals, and his efforts across both games was enough for him to be named MVP. Castle and Team C will advance to Sunday's All-Star event and will face Team Shaq in the semifinals. Castle will also face off against Matas Buzelis, Andre Jackson and Mac McClung in the Slam Dunk contest Saturday.
Feb 12, 2025
Scores 20 points vs. Boston
Castle finished Wednesday's 116-103 loss to the Celtics with 20 points (7-16 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals over 24 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Castle has come off the bench for the Spurs' last five games, coinciding with the arrival of De'Aaron Fox. Castle has played 24 minutes or less in three of those five games, and his playing time will likely continue to fluctuate so long as he's in a reserve role. There's always the possibility that Castle joins Fox in the Spurs' starting lineup after the All-Star break, but that would mean Chris Paul would have to revert to a bench role like he did with the Warriors during the 2023-24 season.
Feb 8, 2025
Lands career-high 33 points
Castle finished with 33 points (10-15 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 10-11 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 31 minutes during Friday's 117-116 loss to the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Castle scored a career-high 33 points despite continuing to come off the bench. The arrival of De'Aaron Fox saw Castle move to the second unit in the previous game, during which he managed just 11 points. While this was a much-improved performance, there is a chance he was simply left on the court as the Spurs made a late run. He should remain a key piece for San Antonio but his playing time could fluctuate from one game to the next.
Feb 5, 2025
Heading to bench Wednesday
Castle won't be in the starting in Wednesday's game against the Hawks, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
ANALYSIS
With De'Aaron Fox set to make his Spurs debut Wednesday, Castle is slated to come off San Antonio's bench for the first time since Jan. 6. Over 17 appearances from the Spurs' second unit, Castle has averaged 7.2 points, 2.8 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 0.6 steals in 18.7 minutes, so his fantasy value appears likely to take a hit with Fox in the mix.
Feb 4, 2025
Notches 21 points
Castle recorded 21 points (9-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-3 FT), six rebounds, five assists and one steal in 28 minutes during Monday's 128-109 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Castle recorded his 10th game of the season with at least 20 points as he continues to trend up for the Spurs -- he's averaging 16.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.8 three-pointers over his last six games. Big changes are coming to San Antonio, however, as the Spurs acquired De'Aaron Fox. Castle is likely to remain very involved in the rotation, but it's hard to see his fantasy value not taking a hit with this move.
Feb 1, 2025
Showcases talent in huge win
Castle recorded 20 points (5-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 7-10 FT), eight rebounds and six assists across 30 minutes during Friday's 144-118 victory over Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Castle reached the 20-point mark for a second consecutive game, but based on how good he's been playing in recent weeks, it shouldn't be surprising to see the rookie floor general turn heads with his play. He's scored in double digits in seven of his last eight starts, averaging 18.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest in that span.
Jan 30, 2025
Productive in loss
Castle closed with 20 points (8-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and two steals over 33 minutes during Wednesday's 128-116 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Castle has now scored 20 or more points in four of his last 10 outings. While the rookie guard has shown off his ability to get to the rim and make a strong defensive impact, he is converting just 26.1 percent of his 3.8 three-point attempts per contest this season.
Jan 25, 2025
Full stat line in loss
Castle amassed 17 points (7-20 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, six assists and one steal across 32 minutes during Saturday's 136-98 loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
While he still struggled with efficiency Saturday, Castle delivered a bounce-back performance after scoring nine points and shooting 3-for-9 from the floor during Thursday's win over the Pacers. The rookie also finished as the club's third-leading scorer behind Harrison Barnes (25 points) and Victor Wembanyama (20 points). Castle stuffed the stat sheet with a career-high six rebounds to go along with six assists, and he logged his first matchup with more than 15 points, five rebounds and five assists through 42 regular-season games.
Jan 18, 2025
Efficient in loss Friday
Castle finished Friday's 140-112 loss to the Grizzlies with 20 points (7-11 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-7 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal over 25 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Victor Wembanyama stole the show with his impressive stat line in this blowout loss, but Castle was one of the few silver linings outside of the Frenchman since he posted another impressive line. The rookie out of UConn has scored at least 20 points in three games in a row, his longest streak of the season, and he's recorded double-digit points in five of his seven January appearances so far.
Jan 16, 2025
Back-to-back solid performances
Castle supplied 26 points (9-21 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three rebounds and four assists over 32 minutes during Wednesday's 129-115 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Castle has found his groove as a starter, scoring 23 points or more in the last two games. The 20-year-old has been filling in for Jeremy Sochan (back) and starting the three games for the Spurs. He's averaging 14.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game and shooting 40.7 percent from the floor as a starter for San Antonio.
Jan 14, 2025
Scores 23 points Monday
Castle racked up 23 points (10-16 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), four rebounds, one assist and two steals across 36 minutes during Monday's 126-102 win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Castle remained in a starting role despite his five-point dud against the Bucks on Jan. 8, and he responded by tying the best scoring output of his career while establishing a new career-high in field goals made. Castle has been switching between the starting lineup and the bench, but the rookie out of UConn has been excellent when deployed in the first unit. Through 20 starts, Castle is averaging 14.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
Jan 8, 2025
Rejoins first unit
Castle is part of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Bucks, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle will step into the starting five in place of Jeremy Sochan (back), marking the rookie guard's 19th start of the campaign. In his other 18 starts, Castle averaged 14.3 points, 4.4 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 30.1 minutes.
Jan 4, 2025
Moving back to bench role
Castle is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Castle will head back to the bench following the return of Jeremy Sochan to the first unit. The rookie out of UConn is averaging 6.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.6 steals per game when coming off the bench this season (15 outings).
Jan 3, 2025
Promoted to starting role
Castle is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Nuggets, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle will return to the starting lineup due to the absence of Jeremy Sochan (back). The rookie floor general is averaging 14.6 points, 4.5 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game when deployed in a starting role this season.
Jan 1, 2025
Solid numbers off bench
Castle chipped in 15 points (5-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal in 23 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 122-86 victory over the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
The rookie guard has struggled to adjust to being back on the second unit, but Castle produced a solid all-round effort Tuesday. It was just the second time in the last eight games he's even scored in double digits however, and Castle's averaging a tepid 7.6 points, 2.9 assists and 2.3 boards in 18.0 minutes a contest during that span, coming off the bench each time.
Dec 24, 2024
Pops in limited minutes
Castle produced 17 points (7-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 13 minutes during Monday's 111-106 loss to the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Despite a tiny workload, Castle made the most of his limited minutes. However, he picked up four quick fouls, ruining what could've been a much bigger performance. His counting stats have been solid in December, but he's shooting just 37.3 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from beyond the arc over his last nine games.
Dec 15, 2024
Will play Sunday
Castle (shoulder) is available for Sunday's game against the Timberwolves, independent NBA writer Matthew Tynan reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle will return to action following a one-game absence due to a sore shoulder. The rookie has been on a roll of late, averaging 15.3 points, 4.7 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 31.2 minutes per game over his past 15 appearances.
Dec 14, 2024
Questionable to play Sunday
Castle (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Timberwolves, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle missed Friday's win over the Trail Blazers due to a left shoulder contusion, and the fact that he's been upgraded to questionable suggests the rookie could return to the hardwood for this upcoming contest after a one-game absence. Castle has emerged as a regular starter for the Spurs, as he's been part of the first unit in 17 of his 24 appearances so far. He's averaging 14.6 points, 4.5 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game when deployed in a starting role.
Dec 12, 2024
Not playing Friday
Castle is out for Friday's game against the Trail Blazers due to a left shoulder contusion, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle banged his shoulder in the second quarter of the 121-116 win over the Pelicans on Dec. 8, a game in which he finished with 22 points, five rebounds and four assists across 34 minutes. Even though the early diagnosis was just a bruise, the rookie will receive some extra rest and sit Friday's re-match against Portland. His next chance to play will come against the Timberwolves on Sunday.
Dec 9, 2024
Explodes after trip to locker room
Castle amassed 22 points (8-15 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Sunday's 121-116 victory over the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Castle banged up his shoulder in the second quarter, forcing a brief trip to the locker room. He was back on the bench before halftime and inflicted significant damage for the remainder of the game. Castle scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, where he converted two three-point attempts, adding a rebound and a steal in the process. The Spurs are headed into a four-day break before their next game, so Castle's injury is unlikely to be a burden after the rest period.
Dec 8, 2024
Returns to bench
Castle (shoulder) returned to the bench during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Pelicans, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle's trip to the locker room was a short one, as he was spotted back on the bench with a few minutes to spare before halftime. He'll presumably be available for the rest of the game as needed.
Dec 8, 2024
Heads to locker room
Castle went to the locker room during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Pelicans due to a left shoulder injury, Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio reports.
ANALYSIS
The severity of the injury is unknown at this time, but he'll head to the locker room to be examined further. Castle will be considered questionable to return until the team releases another update.
Dec 4, 2024
Drops 16 points in loss
Castle racked up 16 points (5-14 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), one rebound, three assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Tuesday's 104-93 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Although the rookie has a few growing pains to endure, Castle is successfully holding onto a starting role, which he acquired after Devin Vassell was injured. He's yet to give up the role, although Vassell's condition is improving and is grabbing more minutes from Harrison Barnes in the short term. As long as Castle continues to produce, he should have a consistent presence with the first unit.
Nov 27, 2024
Matches season high in victory
Castle ended Tuesday's 128-115 victory over Utah with 23 points (9-20 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-4 FT), three rebounds, five assists and one block in 29 minutes.
ANALYSIS
The backcourt combination of Castle and Chris Paul is reaping benefits for the Spurs, as there is plenty of opportunity for both players to benefit. The 2024 first-round pick has made an immediate contribution and is a key piece responsible for the Spurs' surprising 10-8 record. The UConn product is expected to remain with the first unit for the foreseeable future.
Nov 24, 2024
Stuffs stat sheet Saturday
Castle contributed 19 points (7-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Saturday's 104-94 victory over the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Castle has settled in well as a starter, and his streak of games with at least 10 points has now reached nine appearances. The rookie forms an excellent backcourt tandem with Chris Paul, and all signs point to him continuing to flourish as a starter with a rebuilding San Antonio team. Castle is averaging 14.3 points and 4.5 assists per game since being promoted to a starting gig 10 games ago on Nov. 6.
Nov 22, 2024
Continues to flourish
Castle closed Thursday's 126-118 victory over Utah with 18 points (6-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal across 34 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Castle was San Antonio's second-leading scorer during Thursday's victory over the Jazz. Since moving to the starting lineup, The rookie guard is averaging 13.8 points, 4.7 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 30.3 minutes across his last nine appearances. However, Castle is somewhat struggling with his efficiency, as he is shooting just 42.2 percent from the field over that span.
Nov 16, 2024
Scores 22 points Friday
Castle tallied 22 points (7-12 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 5-8 FT), five assists and two rebounds over 33 minutes in Friday's 120-115 loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Despite Devin Vassell being back in the fold, Castle made his sixth-straight start Friday and was one point shy from tying a career high he set against the Jazz on Nov. 9. Castle finished Friday's game as the Spurs' second-leading scorer behind Victor Wembenyama (28), with the former connecting on three three-pointers for the second time this season. Across his six starts, Castle has averaged 14.0 points, 4.2 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals over 29.4 minutes per game.
Nov 9, 2024
Best scoring output of young career
Castle supplied 23 points (8-16 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 4-5 FT), two rebounds, three assists and two steals over 35 minutes during Saturday's 111-110 loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Saturday marked a second consecutive strong performance by the rookie, who appears destined to return to a bench role as early as Monday against the Kings following a strong season debut by Devin Vassell. Castle has started three straight games for the Spurs in Jeremy Sochan's (thumb) absence and is averaging 14.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals during this brief stretch.
Nov 8, 2024
Efficient in victory
Castle closed with 14 points (6-11 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six assists and three rebounds over 25 minutes during Thursday's 118-105 win over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
The rookie started in his second consecutive game with Jeremy Sochan (thumb) out, during which he set a season high in both points and assists. The 20-year-old could remain in the starting five until Devin Vassell (foot) is back to full playing form, though even off the bench Castle is set to receive fairly significant minutes. The No. 4 overall pick of the 2024 Draft has averaged 6.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 0.8 steals across 21.1 minutes through nine regular-season games.
Nov 6, 2024
Making first career start
Castle is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus Houston, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle slots into the starting lineup with Jeremy Sochan set to begin a multi-week absence due to thumb surgery. Castle is joined by Chris Paul and Julian Champagne in the first unit, along with Harrison Barnes sliding to the four next to Victor Wembanyama.
Nov 5, 2024
Drops career high in loss
Castle put up 11 points (4-10 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, an assist and a block over 20 minutes in Monday's 113-104 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Castle started the second half of Monday's game against the Clippers for Jeremy Sochan (thumb), which paved the way for him to reach double digits in points for the first time in his young career. With Sochan out for an extended period, Castle will likely see an increased role moving forward.
Nov 3, 2024
Limited off bench again
Castle contributed three points (1-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 0-2 FT) and three rebounds in 15 minutes during Saturday's 113-103 win over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Castle was used sparingly once again Saturday, continuing his underwhelming season. Although he was highly touted coming out of the draft, it appears as though he is going to have to bide his time, playing limited minutes off the bench. He is certainly a candidate to be thrust into a larger role if and when San Antonio is eliminated from playoff contention. Until then, it's hard to see him playing more than about 15 minutes per night.
Oct 31, 2024
Fails to score in 20 minutes
Castle posted zero points (0-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one block over 20 minutes during Wednesday's 105-93 loss to Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Castle was a no-show in the loss, missing all five of his shot attempts. It's been an underwhelming start to his NBA career, averaging just 5.0 points and 3.5 assists in 20.7 minutes per game. While he could be someone the Spurs lean into a little more as the season progresses, there is no point holding him now given his current role.
Oct 24, 2024
Coming off bench Thursday
Castle will come off the bench in Thursday's regular-season opener versus the Mavericks, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle did not enter the starting five during the preseason so it does not come as a shock that the rookie will play in the bench unit. The 19-year-old will back up Chris Paul and Julian Champagnie in the backcourt, though Castle will likely receive significant minutes in his first NBA game coming off the bench.
Oct 18, 2024
Scores team-high 16 points
Castle finished with 16 points (6-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals across 24 minutes off the bench in Thursday's 129-107 preseason loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Castle led the Spurs in points and was a disruptive presence on both ends of the court. The fact that he also led the team in minutes played is an encouraging sign of his role in the rotation. He's not likely to open the regular season as a starter, but he should see decent minutes off the bench at both guard spots.
Oct 10, 2024
Makes presence felt Wednesday
Castle delivered 17 points (4-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-10 FT), two rebounds, four assists and two steals across 22 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's 107-97 preseason win over the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Castle led the Spurs in scoring and showed some interesting traits, mainly his passing ability and an underrated skill to get to the charity stripe. The Spurs have big hopes for the rookie, and he's in contention to open the season in a starting role alongside Chris Paul in the backcourt while Devin Vassell (foot) is inactive.
Oct 2, 2024
Back at practice
Castle (wrist) was a participant in Tuesday's practice, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle sprained his wrist during Summer League but has fully recovered from the injury and is practicing with the team. The rookie figures to play a significant role early on considering starting SG Devin Vassell (foot) is expected to be sidelined into November. Castle will compete with Malaki Branham and Blake Wesley for a starting role while Vassell is inactive.
Jul 14, 2024
Out for remainder of Summer League
Castle suffered a right wrist sprain during Saturday's win over Portland and is out for the remainder of Summer League, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
ANALYSIS
Castle injured his right wrist after a fall during Saturday's game against Portland, and he will remain sidelined for the remainder of Summer League as the Spurs play it safe with the fourth overall pick. Castle flashed the potential that made him a highly touted prospect in this year's draft during limited action in Summer League, putting up 22 points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal Saturday against the Trail Blazers. Castle will likely serve as a key player for San Antonio off the bench to begin the 2024-25 campaign.

Looks sharp in win
Castle recorded 22 points (8-21 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-6 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal in Saturday's 83-77 Summer League win over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Coming off a national championship with UConn, the 6-foot-6 guard finds himself with an exciting opportunity in San Antonio. Castle is likely to begin his career as a key reserve for the Spurs while learning from the likes of Chris Paul and Devin Vassell, though a starting spot may not be out of the question depending on how he fares during training camp.

Goes No. 4 overall to Spurs
Castle was selected by the Spurs with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
ANALYSIS
A key piece in UConn's run to the national championship this spring, Castle will now team up with Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio. Checking in at 6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-9 wingspan, Castle has excellent size and is capable of playing both guard spots, as well as defending on the wing. Defense was his calling card at UConn, but the belief is that he'll be able to show off an expanded offensive package at the NBA level. Shooting is a major question mark for Castle, as he knocked down just 26.7 percent of his three-point attempts for the Huskies as a freshman. Castle will likely be given the opportunity to compete for a starting spot from Day 1 with San Antonio.
