Smith finished one rebound shy of Purdue's first triple-double since 1977, as the Boilermakers made short work of Texas Southern. The 6-foot sophomore has been incredible for Purdue this season, averaging 13 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.9 steals on 30.6 minutes per game. Smith, who is converting 50 percent of his looks from deep this season (3.1 attempts per game), will look to stay hot as the Boilermakers open conference play against Northwestern on Friday.

Smith was phenomenal in Friday's win over Morehead State, closing with 11 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds in the rout. The 6-foot sophomore has been a day-one starter for the Boilermakers, and he will be a focal point of Purdue's gameplan yet again in 2023. Smith and the Boilermakers will look to keep the victory train on the tracks during Monday's matchup with Xavier.

Big game in first foreign tour matchup
Smith went for 22 points and 12 assists in Purdue's first foreign tour game in Germany on Wednesday, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith was forced into a big role as a freshman and averaged 9.7 points, 4.4 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 three-pointers. That being said, the freshman backcourt duo of Smith and Fletcher Loyer got exposed at times last season by more athletic and experienced backcourts. This foreign tour is a good chance for both of them to get some confidence heading to into their sophomore seasons.
