Ruffin (personal) was added to the NCAA's transfer portal Monday, VerbalCommits.com reports.

It seemed inevitable that Ruffin would be added to the transfer portal again following personal reasons that dented his sophomore season. But whenever available, he has proven to be valuable. Ruffin averaged 12.6 points, 3.4 assists and 2.3 steals across 14 games (10 started) he played during Mississippi's 2021-22 season. Ideally for interested teams, they will believe he can replicate his freshman success.

Ruffin announced Tuesday that he'll be out indefinitely due to personal reasons.

In a message to the Ole Miss basketball team, Ruffin wrote, "In hopes of regaining 100 percent mental and physical health, I've decided to step away from the team and take every action necessary to get well. However, this is not me giving up on the game I love, but simply taking time to return to full health." It's currently unknown if or when the sophomore guard suit up again for the Rebels.

Ruffin started Mississippi's last game with Matthew Murrell (knee) sidelined. However, with both now absent for Saturday's game, the Rebels will be significantly shorthanded in the backcourt. It's unclear why Ruffin has been benched by coach Kermit Davis.

Ruffin will operate as a point guard, giving him much more leeway to run the Ole Miss offense.
