Set to turn pro
Johnson has decided to forgo his remaining college eligibility and will enter the 2021 NBA Draft, per his personal Twitter page.
ANALYSIS
Johnson impressed as a sophomore during the 2020-21 season, racking up 12.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 11 steals over 35.1 minutes per game while knocking down 38.6 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc. He seems unlikely to crack the first-round ranks but will likely hear his name called in Round 2.

Goes for double-double
Johnson recorded 14 points (5-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 11 rebounds, an assist and a steal across 39 minutes in Wednesday's loss against Duke.
ANALYSIS
Johnson ended the year on a strong note, and he has now put up two double-doubles over his last five games, including three games with 14 or more points in that span.
Mar 7, 2021
Goes for 14 points Saturday
Johnson recorded 14 points (6-17 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds and an assist across 40 minutes in Saturday's loss against Virginia.
ANALYSIS
Johnson has started regularly for Louisville this season but his performances have been a bit inconsistent of late, as he has mixed three single-digit scoring performances with two double-digit scoring outings over his last five appearances. Johnson has posted just four games with 10-plus points in his last nine games and is trending in the wrong direction over the last few weeks, but he will look to turn things around once the playoffs start next week.
Feb 28, 2021
Returns with nine points
Johnson had nine points (4-11 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three assists and two rebounds across 31 minutes in Saturday's 80-73 OT victory over Duke.
ANALYSIS
Johnson was held out last Tuesday against Notre Dame due to an unspecified, non -COVID-related illness, but was back in action for the all-important ACC matchup. He did take a backseat to leading scorer Carlik Jones (25 points), but nonetheless was one of three Louisville players to put up double-digit attempts from the field. Johnson and the Cardinals close out ACC regular season play with a pair of tough matchups against Virginia Tech and Virginia.
Feb 27, 2021
Starting against Duke
Johnson is starting Saturday's game against Duke.
ANALYSIS
Johnson missed the Cardinals' last game due to a non-COVID-19 related illness, but he'll be back in the starting lineup Saturday. He should provide a major boost against the Blue Devils following his one-game absence.
Feb 27, 2021
Will be available against Duke
Johnson (undisclosed) will be available for Saturday's game against Duke, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
ANALYSIS
Johnson was dealing with a non-COVID-related illness but is expected to return Saturday, and he should provide a major boost to the team's offense. The sophomore enters Saturday averaging 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals over 34.8 minutes per game.
Feb 26, 2021
Should play Saturday
Johnson (undisclosed) participated in practice Thursday and is expected to take the floor Saturday against Duke, Jody Demling of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Johnson's return would be a major boon for the Cardinals in what is a game to circle on the calendar despite Duke's struggles this season. The Blue Devils are, however, coming off of four straight wins, so Johnson's availability in the backcourt becomes ever more important. The sophomore enters Saturday averaging 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals over 34.8 minutes per game.
Feb 23, 2021
Sitting out Tuesday
Johnson will miss Tuesday's game due to a non-COVID illness, Shannon Russell of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
On a positive note, Johnson doesn't seem likely to be sidelined for a long time given the reason behind his absence. Still, the Cardinals will be down another big piece Tuesday, and it will likely result in extra minutes for Charles Minlend. Johnson's next chance to take the floor arrives Saturday at Duke.
Feb 23, 2021
Absent from warmups
Johnson is not on the floor for the Cardinals' initial warmups ahead of Tuesday's game against Notre Dame, Shannon Russell of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Johnson is just a game removed from a 24-point, 10-rebound effort against Georgia Tech, so losing his services for Tuesday's game could be a big blow for a Cardinals team looking to continue building its postseason resume. With David Nickelberry (illness) also potentially out, the Cardinals could be sorely lacking some backcourt depth Tuesday.
Feb 3, 2021
Louisville-Syracuse postponed
Johnson and Louisville won't play Syracuse on Wednesday after the Atlantic Coast Conference postponed the contest due to COVID-19 issues within the Cardinals program.
ANALYSIS
The ACC plans to announce at a later date whether the postponed contest will be made up. Louisville's next game is scheduled for Saturday at Virginia, but that matchup may also be in jeopardy.
Feb 1, 2021
Double-doubles Monday
Johnson posted 24 points (9-20 FG, 6-11 3Pt), 10 rebounds, two steals and a block across 38 minutes in Monday's win over Georgia Tech.
ANALYSIS
Johnson paced the Cardinals in points while also grabbing double-digit rebounds for the second time this season -- something uncommon for a 6-5 guard. Johnson has struggled with consistency of late, notching three double-digit scoring performances and three games with five or fewer points across his last six appearances. He has the ability to light it up on any given night, however, and he should continue to have decent upside as long as he keeps starting for Louisville.
Jan 3, 2021
Goes for 20 points Saturday
Johnson scored 20 points (7-16 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT) while adding eight rebounds, three assists and a block across 37 minutes in Saturday's 76-64 win over Boston College.
ANALYSIS
Johnson paced the Cardinals in this win, and he also recorded his sixth straight game scoring 10 or more points. The sophomore is averaging 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists over that six-game stretch.
Dec 27, 2020
Extends double-digit scoring run
Johnson scored 17 points (5-10 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT) while adding seven rebounds, four assists and a steal in 40 minutes during Saturday's 62-59 win over Kentucky.
ANALYSIS
Johnson ended as Louisville's second-highest scorer since Carlik Jones posted 20 points, but Johnson has surpassed the 10-point mark in five straight games and has scored exactly 17 points in three of his last four contests. That scoring ability hasn't gone unnoticed and he remains one of the focal points of the team's offensive scheme. Louisville's next scheduled game will come on Jan. 2 at Boston College.
Dec 23, 2020
Paces Louisville with 17 points
Johnson notched 17 points (8-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists and a steal across 38 minutes in Tuesday's win 64-54 over Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Johnson has been one of the Cardinals' most reliable scoring threats this season and left his mark here, as he was one of three starters that scored in double digits while pacing the team in points while grabbing the second-most rebounds. Through six games this season, the sophomore is averaging 13.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.3 steals per contest.
Dec 21, 2020
Scores team-high 12 points
Johnson recorded 12 points (5-13 FG, 2-3 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists and two steals over 36 minutes in Saturday's loss to Wisconsin.
ANALYSIS
Johnson might have led the Cardinals with his 12-point performance, but he was highly inefficient -- he needed 13 shots to reach that mark -- in a day where the whole offense struggled, as the Cardinals shot 36.2 percent from the field as a team. Johnson will try to bounce back Tuesday at Pittsburgh.
Dec 13, 2020
Wednesday's game postponed
Johnson and the Cardinals' scheduled game Wednesday against N.C. State was postponed Sunday due to positive tests and contact tracing within their program.
ANALYSIS
Wednesday's game will be the second contest the Cardinals have had to postpone within a week as they continue to battle a COVID problem within the program. The team last played Dec. 1 and now will have to wait until Dec. 26 for their next game against Kentucky.
Dec 7, 2020
Wisconsin game postponed
Wednesday's game between Louisville and Wisconsin will not be played as scheduled, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Louisville is still dealing with some COVID-19 related issues, so the two schools decided to play it safe. There's no word yet on if this game will be rescheduled, as it was part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Louisville's next scheduled game is Dec. 16 against N.C. State.
Dec 3, 2020
Friday game canceled
Johnson and the Cardinals will not play Friday against UNCG due to a positive COVID-19 test within the Louisville program, Jeff Goodman of WatchStadium.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals will look to get a grasp on the situation as they hope to return to the court as soon as possible. Louisville is scheduled to visit Wisconsin next Wednesday.
Dec 2, 2020
Excellent performance once again
Johnson registered 17 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-8 FT), eight assists, six rebounds and four steals across 39 minutes during Tuesday's 75-54 win over Western Kentucky.
ANALYSIS
Johnson was the best player on the Cardinals squad and stuffed the stat sheet admirably, as he made a huge impact on both ends of the court. He has scored in double digits in two straight contests but his fantasy upside isn't just tied to his scoring figures, as he is also averaging 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game over his first four appearances.
