With Taylor dominating the backfield for the Colts, Abdullah should not be trusted for fantasy purposes. He'll continue to operate as a depth option when Indianapolis comes out of their Week 11 bye to face off against the Chiefs in Week 12.

Abdullah played five snaps on offense while Tyler Goodson played a season-high 10 snaps with the Colts trailing most of the game (as Goodson is usually seen as the better receiver). However, the Colts didn't turn to a pass-catching running back as they have in the past as Jonathan Taylor stayed in the game and played on 62 of the offense's 79 snaps. As long as Taylor is healthy, it looks the other running backs will have very minor roles even if the Colts are forced throw the ball.

However, none of the backups are getting enough work for viable fantasy value as Jonathan Taylor gets almost every touch even in blowouts as Sunday's win was essentially wrapped up before the fourth quarter.

The 49ers released Abdullah (ribs) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Abdullah was injured during the 49ers' preseason opener back on Aug. 9 and was placed on IR two days later. He's now free to look for work elsewhere.

The 49ers signed Abdullah to a one-year contract Thursday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Abdullah had a tryout with the Niners on Wednesday and things evidently went well for the veteran running back. He turned 32 years old last month and appeared in 16 regular-season games for the Raiders last season, logging a 66-311-2 rushing line in addition to 40-261-3 receiving on 47 targets. Abdullah will look to win a job behind Christian McCaffrey, Isaac Guerendo and rookie Jordan James this summer.

Abdullah handled a season-high 23 touches and accounted for 147 yards and led Raiders running backs with a 62 percent snap share in the win, but he didn't take a handoff or draw a target after the first play of the fourth quarter. Though the Raiders listed Abdullah as questionable to return due to the foot injury at one point later in the quarter, he ultimately never checked back into the contest while Chris Collier served as the primary back on Las Vegas' last drive. Abdullah's status thus warrants monitoring heading into this Sunday's game against the Chargers, but given how well he fared against the Saints, the 31-year-old would likely be in store for the lead role out of the backfield if the foot issue doesn't inhibit him too much in practice this week.

It's the first time in his career that the 31-year-old running back has produced triple-digit rushing yards in a game. Abdullah saw 23 touches to Alexander Mattison's 11, but it's not clear if coach Antonio Pierce was simply riding the hot hand, or if Abdullah has moved to the top of the depth chart for the Raiders. Whoever sees the bulk of the backfield work in Week 18 will face a much stingier Chargers defense.

Abdullah rushed the ball seven times for 38 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 19-14 win over the Jaguars. He added five receptions on six targets for 47 yards.

Abdullah benefitted from the absence of Sincere McCormick (ankle) but still saw four fewer touches than Alexander Mattison. As would be expected, the majority of Abdullah's production came as a receiver, and he finished second on the team in both receptions and yards. However, his biggest fantasy impact came on a seven-yard rushing score early in the fourth quarter. While his involvement in the offense is likely to lean heavily toward his work as a receiver, Abdullah should maintain a complementary role at minimum in Week 17 against the Saints.

Abdullah took three carries for eight yards while hauling in all seven of his targets for 58 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 15-9 loss to Atlanta.

Starter Sincere McCormick (ankle) was injured in the second quarter before being ruled out at halftime, opening extra playing time for the Raiders' backup RBs. Abdullah took full advantage of the opportunity and cashed in a late touchdown reception while Alexander Mattison (7-24-0) handled the early-down work in the second half. Despite the disparity in production Monday, Mattison figures to handle starting duties should McCormick be ruled out for a Week 16 tilt against the Jaguars. Abdullah would likely get worked in as a receiving option like we saw against the Falcons in the aforementioned scenario.

Abdullah caught one of two targets for a loss of three yards and rushed once for one yard in Sunday's 28-13 loss to the Buccaneers. He also returned two punts for 30 yards and two kickoffs for 59 yards.

Abdullah earned just two touches despite playing 39 percent of the Raiders' offensive snaps, ceding much of the backfield work to Sincere McCormick as the undrafted 24-year-old took 15 carries for 78 yards to go along with a pair of receptions for another 11 yards. Abdullah figures to take a backseat to McCormick again in Week 15 when Las Vegas hosts the Falcons on Monday Night Football. Additionally, Alexander Mattison (ankle) and Zamir White (quadriceps) could return to the backfield rotation as well.

Abdullah rushed 10 times for 39 yards, secured both targets for 14 yards, returned one kickoff for 68 yards and ran back two punts for 30 yards in the Raiders' 19-17 loss to the Chiefs on Friday.

The veteran back was busy all afternoon with both Zamir White (quadriceps) and Alexander Mattison (ankle) inactive, and he supplemented his work on offense with a productive effort on special teams. Abdullah's 68-yard kickoff return late in the third quarter set the Raiders up on the Chiefs' 26-yard line for a drive that culminated in a Brock Bowers touchdown grab two plays later. Abdullah finished with two fewer carries and 25 less rushing yards than backfield mate Sincere McCormick, but he offered serviceable fantasy production overall. However, Abdullah could be back to his customary third-down role in short order, considering both White and Mattison seemingly have a good chance of being available for a Week 14 road matchup against the Buccaneers on Sunday, Dec. 8.

In this past Sunday's 29-19 loss to the Broncos -- a game that Mattison and White also missed -- Abdullah (who started the contest) carried the ball eight times for 28 yards and caught five of six targets for 37 yards and a touchdown. Look for the veteran back to continue to see added touches Friday, with Sincere McCormick (who logged five carries for 33 yards versus Denver) also mixing in.

Through his first nine contests of the 2024 campaign, Abdullah has taken 16 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown to go along with a 14-60-0 receiving line on 17 targets.

After filling a change-of-pace role out of the backfield behind Alexander Mattison the previous two weeks, Abdullah saw his playing time take a significant dip Week 7 while Zamir White (groin) made his return from a two-game absence. Expect Abdullah's opportunities on offense to remain limited while both Mattison and White are healthy.

Abdullah had moments of productivity as the change-of-pace back behind Alexander Mattison, but that was overshadowed by a key mistake early in the fourth quarter. With the Raiders one yard away from cutting Pittsburgh's lead to one possession, Abdullah lost a fumble at the hands of T.J. Watt. He didn't record an offensive stat thereafter, and he compounded his problems by muffing a punt just one possession later.

Abdullah rushed five times for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-18 loss to the Broncos. He also caught all three of his targets for nine yards and he returned one kickoff for 23 yards.

Abdullah logged a season-high 31 offensive snaps behind Alexander Mattison with fellow running back Zamir White (groin) sidelined for Sunday's tilt, and Abdullah took advantage as he translated the additional playing time into eight touches for 51 yards and a score, finding the end zone on a three-yard rush late in the fourth quarter. Earlier in the contest, Abdullah notched the Raiders' second-longest play of the game when he took a carry 40 yards to begin a drive. The 31-year-old could return to more of a reserve role offensively if the aforementioned White manages to suit up against the Steelers in Week 6.

Abdullah (back) is active Sunday against the Browns.

Abdullah was listed as questionable throughout the week but will ultimately take the field for the Week 4 matchup. The veteran should continue seeing snaps in the Raiders' backfield behind Zamir White and Alexander Mattison, while also chipping in on special teams.

The 30-year-old has played 30 offensive snaps and another 48 on special teams through three weeks. The Raiders have been using all three of Zamir White, Alexander Mattison and Abdullah out of the backfield in a true three-man committee approach. If Abdullah can't play, it could open more pass-game work for Mattison, as White has mainly been limited to early downs.

Abdullah was not involved in the Raiders' offensive game plan during the season opener, while fellow running backs Zamir White and Alexander Mattison combined for 108 total yards and a receiving score on 24 touches. Mattison alone was targeted six times by quarterback Gardner Minshew, and Abdullah figures to cede passing down work to Mattison again Week 2 versus the Ravens.

Abdullah's first two touches didn't come until less than a minute remaining in the first half, though he's now up to 14 receptions through the first 13 games of the season. Starting running back Josh Jacobs exited Sunday's contest in the fourth quarter due to a seemingly minor knee injury, but Abdullah could see his snap share increase Thursday against the Chargers if Jacobs is limited or unable to play on a quick turnaround. Fellow reserves Zamir White and Brandon Bolden could factor into the backfield equation as well.

Abdullah ended his 2022 campaign with just four total carries for 20 yards in 17 games, though he added 25 receptions for 211 yards and a touchdown on 32 targets.

Josh Jacobs (calf) is listed as questionable, just as he was a few days ago before running for 144 yards against the Chargers. Abdullah will continue seeing most of his playing time in passing situations, with rookie Zamir White more likely to serve as the lead runner if Jacobs ends up missing this one.

The Raiders listed Abdullah (hamstring) as limited on Tuesday's practice estimate, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

His status will be worth monitoring following the release of Wednesday's injury report. Fellow backup Brandon Bolden played just one offensive snap to Abdullah's 20, indicating the latter may have a firmer grasp on the pass-down role again Week 9 against the Jaguars.

Abdullah played more than one offensive snap for the first time since Week 2, but he handled just two touches while starter Josh Jacobs racked up 155 total yards and three scores. Meanwhile, Brandon Bolden only saw the field on special teams. Abdullah's role in the offense figures to remain limited against the Saints in Week 8 with Jacobs at full strength.

Jacobs, who handled 19 carries for 69 yards Sunday, should lead the charge out of the Raiders' backfield again Week 3 at Tennessee while Abdullah mixes in sparingly.

Abdullah played only seven offensive snaps while fellow running back Brandon Bolden caught two passes for 21 yards and a score behind starter Josh Jacobs. However, Bolden exited Sunday's contest early due to a hamstring injury, so Abdullah could see an uptick in passing-down work Week 2 against the Cardinals if Bolden remains sidelined.

Abdullah and Brandon Bolden split third-down work in Tuesday's practice, and both could have roles in a likely backfield committee, Tashan Reed and Vic Tafur or The Athletic report.

Josh Jacobs seems to be on track for the Week 1 start, but with Abdullah and Bolden candidates to steal passing-down snaps and rookie Zamir White a threat to take short-yardage work. While four-man backfield committees aren't common, the Raiders could do it without much sacrifice elsewhere on the roster, as Bolden and Abdullah both have ample experience playing special teams. It's also still possible coach Josh McDaniel chooses one over the other for a role that mostly figures to entail playing time in hurry-up situations and on third downs.

Abdullah didn't see any snaps in Sunday's preseason win over the Vikings.

The same applies to top back Josh Jacobs, as well as versatile special teams ace Brandon Bolden, which paved the way for Brittain Brown, Austin Walter, Kenyan Drake and Zamir Whiteto handle the carries in the Raiders' second preseason game. Heading into training camp, there wasn't much fantasy buzz about Abdullah, but at this stage the 29-year-old appears to be making a push to overtake Drake as the team's top change-of-pace back. With that in mind, Albert Breer of SI.com noted Friday that Abdullah is "carving out a real role" and if he indeed emerges as a key pass-catching catching threat out of the Las Vegas backfield, the 2015 second-rounder could resurface on the PPR radar.

Abdullah ended the season by leading the Panthers in touches, marking his biggest workload of the campaign. Unsurprisingly, that involvement also resulted in Abdullah's best yardage output, ranking second on Carolina in both rushing and receiving yards Sunday, with his nine grabs comfortably setting a new career high. After joining the Panthers midway through the season, Abdullah's all-purpose ability offered a flexible option in Christian McCaffrey's (ankle) extended absence. Finishing with 51 carries for 166 yards and 38 catches on 53 targets for 289 more yards, Abdullah's production from 16 games split between the Panthers and Vikings should garner him interest as a free agent this offseason, especially when considering his added value as a kickoff returner.

Abdullah rushed six times for 21 yards and caught all four of his targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 18-10 loss to the Saints.

Abdullah saw Chuba Hubbard lead the Panthers with 17 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown, but he nonetheless garnered a double-digit amount of touches himself. While most his yards came on two plays, a 15-yard rush and 17-yard catch, Abdullah actually led Carolina in receptions on the day. The veteran's yardage ceiling and scoring potential are both restricted, but his underneath presence in a struggling offense gives him lukewarm value heading into Week 18's finale versus the Buccaneers.

Abdullah rushed twice for one yard and caught three of six targets for eight yards in Sunday's 32-6 loss to the Buccaneers.

Abdullah played a third of Carolina's offensive snaps but couldn't get anything going against a stringy Tampa Bay defense. In fact, the tailback's biggest impact came on special teams, where he returned three kickoffs for 76 yards. Although another tough matchup awaits in Week 17 versus the Saints, the flow of that contest could present a few opportunities for Abdullah to make an impact as a pass-catcher.

Abdullah ran for seven yards on four carries and caught four passes for 48 yards and one touchdown on four targets against Buffalo on Sunday.

While the rookie Chuba Hubbard again functioned as Carolina's rushing specialist at running back, taking eight carries for 40 yards, Abdullah ran away with the pass-catching functions Sunday. That workload split might be how the Panthers ride out the rest of their wretched 2021 season, and against Tampa Bay in Week 16 the matchup only figures to get tougher for the Carolina backfield.

Abdullah rushed four times for 16 yards and caught two of four targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 29-21 loss to the Falcons.

Abdullah, due to his superior pass-catching presence, actually played 13 more offensive snaps than fellow tailback Chuba Hubbard. Both players managed just 33 scrimmage yards, but Hubbard scored a touchdown to boost his performance and tied for the team lead with 10 carries. With a tough matchup in Week 15 at the Bills, the game flow could again favor Abdullah, but Buffalo's defense could make it difficult to muster much yardage.

Abdullah rushed twice for four yards and caught two of six targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 33-10 loss to the Dolphins.

Abdullah led Carolina's backfield with 27 snaps after starter Christian McCaffrey suffered an ankle injury and featured for just one second-half play. Although the Panthers now entering their bye week gives McCaffrey some time to heal, Abdullah and Chuba Hubbard would figure to assume much of McCaffrey's extra workload should he be limited ahead of Week 14's matchup versus the Falcons, potentially improving their respective stocks.

Abdullah rushed once for six yards in Sunday's 27-21 loss to Washington.

Abdullah saw his involvement scaled back significantly in quarterback Cam Newton's first start. With Newton rushing 10 times, tying tailback Christian McCaffrey for the team lead, backups like Abdullah and Chuba Hubbard were hardly needed. In fact, they played just nine offensive snaps combined. Whether that cut in playing time is a sign of things to come or just a one-week change, Abdullah's reserve role behind McCaffrey restricts his fantasy value regardless.

Abdullah rushed nine times for 24 yards and caught all four of his targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 34-10 win over the Cardinals.

Abdullah has now totaled double-digit touches in two of three games since joining the Panthers, with the last couple coming even with Christian McCaffrey in the lineup. Although rookie Chuba Hubbard seems like Carolina's preferred ball-carrier behind McCaffrey, Abdullah's pass-catching utility has helped move the chains. While the blowout nature of Sunday's game afforded Abdullah more playing time in the second half, he should nonetheless remain involved from his third-string role in Week 11 versus Washington.

Abdullah rushed once for no yards but caught four of five targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 24-6 loss to the Patriots.

Abdullah worked behind the now-healthy Christian McCaffrey and rookie Chuba Hubbard, but he still managed to make an impact in the passing game. Although his third-string status should restrict his weekly upside, especially as McCaffrey's workload increases, Abdullah's capability in throwing situations could help Carolina here and there.

Abdullah rushed eight times for 31 yards and caught three of five targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 19-13 win over the Falcons.

Abdullah only signed for Carolina last week but already played a meaningful role in Sunday's win. Only starting tailback Chuba Hubbard garnered more carries, while only top wideout DJ Moore led him in receiving. Although the versatile veteran did well in his debut, the potential return of superstar Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) in Week 9 versus the Patriots could immediately reduce Abdullah's role, making the Panthers' backfield situation worthwhile to monitor.

Abdullah signed with the Panthers on Saturday.

Fresh off a multi-game stint with the Vikings, Abdullah jumps over to a similar situation backing up the likes of Chuba Hubbard and Royce Freeman. Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) isn't eligible to be activated off injured reserve until at least Week 9 which should afford the veteran castaway a few weeks on the Panthers' active roster.

The Vikings released Abdullah on Tuesday.

Abdullah's release was the corresponding move to allow Kene Nwangwu to take a spot on the active roster as the third-string back behind Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison. Abdullah has a fairly lengthy track record in the league, so he should find a home either on another active roster or on a practice squad.

The Vikings had just to active running backs on the roster in form of Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison, so this move makes complete sense. The veteran castoff has been primarily a special teams player over the past two seasons accumulating over 500 snaps combined since 2019.

Abdullah was the team's first back on the field with both Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison held out of the game. He didn't carry a heavy workload but broke off gains of nine and 12 yards to account for the majority of his production. Abdullah figures to have the inside track for the third position on the running back depth chart, though he'll have to hold off Kene Nwangwu (knee) and A.J. Rose.

Abdullah is re-signing with Minnesota, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The 2015 second-round pick never panned out as a ballcarrier, instead making his living on special teams. He's played only 212 offensive snaps in 39 games for the Vikings, taking 55 touches for 313 yards and three TDs. Abdullah figures to enter training camp as Minnesota's third or fourth running back, but he could be the top guy for kick returns.

Abdullah ended his 2020 season carrying the ball eight times for 42 yards and catching eight of his nine targets for 58 yards in 16 games. He also had two touchdown receptions

Abdullah hasn't been a fantasy asset since 2017 with the Lions. In three seasons since then between Detroit and Minnesota, he has 58 touches in 42 games. With Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison ahead of him on the depth chart, the 27-year-old Abdullah wasn't a vital part of the Vikings' ground attack. Abdullah, an unrestricted free agent once again, won't be much more than a depth option wherever he lands.

Abdullah returned one kickoff for 30 yards during Sunday's 33-27 loss to the Bears.

The 27-year-old had eight offensive touches over the previous two contests, but he played only one offensive snap with the return of Alexander Mattison Sunday. However, Mattison suffered a concussion, so Abdullah could return to a minor offensive role down the stretch.

Abdullah had three carries for 11 yards and two receptions for ten yards in Sunday's loss at Tampa Bay.

Abdullah continues to get more work with Alexander Mattison (abdomen) out, but neither he nor Mike Boone (four snaps) are getting enough touches for viable fantasy value in most formats. Dalvin Cook continues to get almost all the work (22 carries, two receptions and played on 54 of the offense's 79 snaps) as the starting running back.

Abdullah rushed twice for 11 yards and caught his lone target for 18 yards in Sunday's 27-24 overtime win against the Jaguars.

With Alexander Mattison (abdomen) out, Abdullah handled just four snaps on offense, while Mike Boone played just two. Dalvin Cook simply absorbed Mattison's workload and finished with 38 touches and an 87 percent snap share. In turn, Abdullah can't be trusted as a fantasy player unless both Cook and Mattison are sidelined.

Abdullah had one reception for a 22-yard touchdown in Sunday's win over Detroit.

Abdullah played just one snap on offense and he's had just two receptions all season (along with two carries), so we wouldn't read too much into this touchdown. Abdullah is fourth on the RB depth chart and will only be a significant factor if both Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison are sidelined.

Abdullah had two carries for seven yards and one reception for on yard on two targets in Sunday's loss to the Falcons. He also added three kick returns for an average of 24.3 yards.

Abdullah played on 16 of the offense's 56 snaps as he got more playing time than Mike Boone (5 snaps) as Alexander Mattison's backup with Dalvin Cook sidelined with a groin injury with the Vikings needing to throw the ball after falling behind big early. Abdullah will likely return to a minimal role with Cook expected to return after Minnesota's bye in Week 7.

Abdullah did not have a carry or reception in Sunday's loss to Green Bay. He played just two snaps on offense.

Abdullah's role with the Vikings has shrunk this season. While he's third on the depth chart at RB, Mike Boone would likely supplant him if Dalvin Cook or Alexander Mattison were to get hurt and the team needed someone to get significant carries. K.J. Osborn has also taken over as the primary kickoff returner, which will limit Abdullah's value on special teams.
